(Milgram self-insert oc masterpost hehe)
Name: For the sake of posting online I’ll call her Rose!
Color: #E7355B [the pink in the art]
Age: I guess she’d be 20 given when Milgram started huh.
Status: Milgram Staff, Machine Technician
Symbols/imagery: ballet/musical theater, science experiments
Song genre: very similar to Mahiru's, something upbeat and extra pop-y
Tentatively she's number 011? She's not really prisoner but she's also not free to come and go, so I'm not actually sure if she'd get a number (Edit: I've decided she'll actually be 012. Staff is given the 01X range, and even though Es doesn't actively have a number they'd be staff member 011, making her 012.)
Story: Since the project is supposed to be realistic/present day, the mv machine would be brand new and unpredictable tech, so they’d want someone keeping up on maintenance and making sure the brain-invasive process won’t cause any harm to the prisoners. Rose was studying abroad in Japan working on some cool neuroscience tech (irl I know nothing about technology or brains but shh) and she stumbled upon some secret tech/plans from Milgram. Long story short, she was dragged into the experiment to make sure things ran smoothly.
Writer's Reasoning: She’s really fun for me to play around with, as she allows me to work with a character who has a tiny bit of pull over Es’ mindset in conversation but not the final decision (aka mirroring the voting system), and someone who is simultaneously trapped in the prison but has a reason to see all the canon content.* I really enjoy the character interactions and dynamics Milgram has set up so far, so it’s been super fun seeing how things change for better and worse when someone not quite aligned with either Milgram/the prisoners is thrown into the mix!
*As much as I love dramatic irony in fiction, it would drive me crazy if I knew every detail of of the vds/mvs but Rose didn't – and every single Milgram character is The Worst Communicator Ever so I couldn’t justify that she’d hear it secondhand from them...
Story roles:
She’s a bit conflicted -- she’s officially Milgram staff and knows she should remain neutral on the prisoners, since she won’t be allowed to interfere with the process/executions. At the same time, her job description is literally “make sure the machine doesn't hurt them and everyone's safe :)” and she's way too emotional to avoid getting hopelessly attached to everyone 😅
I really enjoy the theory that the machine extracts videos based off of priming, so one of Rose’s duties involves listening in on the interrogation and making sure there’s been enough material discussed/not too much time has passed overall (hence the ringing of the bell happening at different lengths for each vd -- That's her ringing it :3). She then watches the mvs along with Es to make sure there are no machine glitches, and know how to calibrate it better for next time.
(IEdit: I've since decided to add in official trial mvs, but before when I wasn't ready to tackle that:) She has to run some tests on the machine to make sure things are calibrated correctly, so she'd extract little things here and there. It gives me the opportunity to think up lyric snippets and recurring symbols for her without worrying about full encompassing music videos.
I'm not afraid to admit she can fall into Mary Sue territory every so often by being everyone's friend, because it's less about "aw everyone likes her" and more about "canon is too painful rn and I need a fix-it tool to take care of these guys and give them hugs and tell them someone forgives them and cares about them and unfortunately these characters wouldn't let anyone less than a friend do that." Rest assured she's definitely not perfect and will fuck everything up on occasion :3
Miscellaneous: Whenever I play around with normal au ideas she's still working on the machine (but in a public, more ethical setting), and she's Mahiru's roommate :) Her character isn't super focused on love, but if I had to pick a cover song it'd be Stickybug II. It's very much my vibe, the lyrics fit well enough (better than most songs, at least lol) and it's one of my favorites out of my limited knowledge of unchosen Deco songs! (Edit, I've actually given her non-deco cover songs hehe)
So yeah, I hope she's not too boring without a cool crime to decipher, but I wanted to share since I was really proud of her! It took a bit of tinkering to find a way to fit her into a perfect secret-third-thing role that runs very smoothly with all of canon, so I was very excited!

#i will warn you only once: tsc spoilers#literally just finished it as i am drafting this its 5am where i live#so you may be subjected to some nonsense#that all being said i have thoughts.and feelings#the kevin was lovely and tasted delicious! jean defending him at every turn even when he swears to hell and back he'll kick his ass#the kevjean was surprising i was only half expecting that#the dog metaphors i have to say i need this one cashed in. nora run me my check#im joking of course dont quote me on it#jean taking kevins promise to the end and living on it is seriously so. well.#'be careful with him' 'take kevin's name out of your ignorant mouth' 'you promised me'#also kevin getting called the court's queen had me tender and on my back oml#jean's relationship with the trojans is sweet and he is very interesting and complicated#a character with many moving parts im sure#there were a few things i did not care for#namely jeremy and the trojans felt remarkably flat to me bar lucas (by far the most interesting) and catalina on occasion#i didnt quite enjoy jeremy's pov and felt like he spent perhaps way too much time worrying over jean? if that makes sense#i wish he had some more complexity to him or really anything to catch a hook on#all we know is hes attractive and smiley and gets along terribly with his family#so much of his character is sucked out by jean he didnt feel like much more than a plot device to me#which i wouldnt mind if jeremy wasnt the literal main character alongside jean#i was living for everything jean thought but had to drag myself through jeremy's pov if im honest#uuuuh what else. neil! funny. deranged. i have to love him#andrew couldnt give less of a fuck about jean which is funny as all fuck#two bugs placed in the same habitat ignoring each other#the thing with elodie i thought was complicated. i wish we knew some more about her or that shed been mentioned a little earlier#but im assuming thats a topic to be revisited#uuuuuuuh yeah so thats most of it. i think my first thought and the one that sticked out the most to me is that the book felt remarkably#pedestrian#not necessarily in a bad way#it lacked to me one of the main appeals of aftg which were the numerous interesting side characters

I finally bit the bullet and quit my joooob !!! Now im gonna actually have time to rest and catch up on owed art and just fucjin sleep for 3 weeks
(And then scramble to find a job but thars for future me to worry abour)
#dw i still live w my parents and ill save my last paycheck for rent and testosterone ill be fine#but fuck im so relieved#like this job has been getting steadily worse over the past year.#it was meant to be a green/conservation based job but it ended up being 90% landscaping and garden clearances#and there was 0 communication and management and organization is fucking terrible like#its a wonder this company is still going#plus my terf coworker grinds my gears so bad i may have commited murder if i stayed any longer#the only good part of this job was my rly sweet supervisor who is also leavong at the end of the month skdjsj#hes so silly and kind and knowledgable and a bright spot in my life leo my best friend leo <3 he knows soo much about plants!!#anyway he reccomended some horticulture apprenticeships and my other supervisor mentioned an apprenticeship school type thing too#so thats what ill go for next year#so that i can actually work with plants someday. instead of hauling 2 tons of litter out of someones shed cos the owner cba#and the housing association/council refuses to do it cos its shit work#so they pass it off to us#anyway#finn.txt#im gomma be freeeee soon

Thank you so much for the request, she'd make such a sweet mermaid!! I went with an octopus design because I felt the shape of the tentacles really fit her spiraling ribbons and skirt look :) Also, it has some pop-culture villainous associations, so it'd work well for a ruler of the 'dark' kingdom of Nohr to make it into something absolutely adorable ✨🎀 While her siblings lean into their intimidating looks, Elise befriends every single animal, mermaid, and sailor that passes through her waters.

i went to see the little mermaid today and all i can say is… wow it REALLY healed my inner child. it brought me so much joy and happiness to FINALLY see my favorite disney princess look like me, to have rich golden brown skin, and hair easily identifiable as belonging to a black woman not straightened or permed. my entire life i’ve always wanted to be a mermaid, and it sounds so lame to say now as a teenager, but the movie made me feel like a child again like i was 10 years old seeing ariel for the first time. i fell in love not only with halle herself but with how she portrayed ariel and didn’t take away any key ariel qualities, she was still just a lost girl looking to find a place to belong. sure her hair was different and she doesn’t have the same skin color as the ariel we all grew up with, but that’s what made it so special so IMPORTANT to me, because she didn’t look like everyone else… she looked like ME. she looked like me and she got a happy ending she got her prince and she got her legs and she reached the place she longed to be. happy. and free.

context: my main plan for 2024 in my journal was "figure out the future & what I'm going to do & where I'm going to live" thinking about summer maybe except last friday during a particularly bad work-related depressive episode I went, fuck it I'm leaving here and found a site and applied for cheap studios in cork and dublin basically in the middle of the night. when I got better I started wondering if I REALLY wanted to leave and may have acted too soon without thinking it through as usual but decided that, you know, what's meant to happen will happen.
then this morning when I was washing my breakfast dishes I dropped a bowl on top of my favourite (and very durable) glass and the glass just snapped in half. at first I was upset but then I laughed thinking, guess this means everything is going to work out and I'm moving out, thanks!! and when I got back from work I found out that not only did I get a place in dublin but my top pick at that. I cannot believe this. the fucking glass. and it was actually still stable so I glued it back together to use for a plant or something. I fixed it. I wonder what it means. anyway. looks like things will work out after all
(it's got a dragon and that's why it's my favourite. out of two. the other one I just use for measuring rice.)

there's so little 'canon' to pick from with this guy but i do genuinely adore how he is inexplicably a frog for absolutely no fucking reason. i never realized how inherently goofy everything frogs have going on is until i saw it applied to a thing that is very much not a frog. they literally didn't need to do that but it's the best thing ever
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
u kno i always dread this question. the concept of a 'character playlist' or anything like that is so alien to me sjdfjkdjksdfh. much as i am the music guy ever and have a fuckmassive library, most of my memorable/influential stuff is really loud abrasive aggressive edm, which is basically never applicable to any character at all ever.
that said, i do think about "music reskins" for games sometimes, and i think STruTS' Bizarre Angel works well enough for his fight. i have to stress this is ONLY a boss battle theme though-less about him as a character, and more about landing an atmosphere for the player for peppino's perception of the events.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
the shedding thing is really the only thing i'd directly call a ''headcanon'' and that already has its own extensive post so there is not much extra to say here :p
#i generally dont call it 'headcanon' so much as just whatever take/interpretation i have of the canon canon#said take may not be ''correct'' per se but i do always try to have some kind of logical base for it#im not sure if it's the normal/widely-used definition but ''headcanon'' to me means something you made up just for funsies#so even if the things i pull from can get VERY obtuse it's still not really sth i came up with on my own yknow#except for aforementioned shedding. that was purely bc i wanted to make him more awful <3#pizzaposting#i was actually not thinking of frogs at all when i originally got the shedding idea. it was leopard geckos.#while making the post i learned frogs ALSO do that and i was like ohoho. how perfect.

You shouldn't have to go to work if you have a horrible terrible dream of one of your worst fears right before you get up thats what I think
#dreamt of working first and then got news that omi was dying and i thought she was already dead but then my mom told me the 'pills shed#taken' may not have even took affect yet so she was dying alone#so i ran to the hospital and found her holding a nurses hand saying 'thanks for riding this out with me' and. Basically i took over#kept her distracted tried to keep her calm#watched her die like went through all of that onky for her to shoot back up crying asking me to wait it out with her#and then i woke up and now i feel like my brains on fire#what an awful thing to dream of first thing wow
