thinking about mizu from blue eye samurai. thinking. thinking so much. thinking about how mizu operates outside of gender. like we joke about her gender being revenge but straight up? it literally is. like she grew up as a boy and is most comfortable being a man, but behind that is the feeling of betraying himself because he isn't being honest about who he is and he lives in fear of being discovered. and when he lived as a woman, she found joy there as well. she fell in love, and though she wasn't good at it, she liked being a wife and enjoying a simple life. but in that life too, she isn't being honest about who she is. and when she reveals her true self, it's not a woman, she's a demon, a weapon. she's to masculine to be a woman, and too feminine to be a man. ultimately, mizu is most comfortable when they are being a murder machine. that's when they feel they are being the most true to themself. like a sword, they are neither man nor woman, but a blend of both, which makes them stronger.

Don't think about how every single fucking inch of Karlach's body has been tattooed in Infernal to remind anyone looking upon her that she is Zariel's property. That her heart was ripped out of her body within seconds of entering the Hells. That even her horns are carved with a writ of ownership, "My champion, the Demonsbane. My blood is her strength." That she was literally only about 18-22 when her body was ripped apart and put back together, that it happened so suddenly she didn't even realize what was happeneing until it had already finished. That she was still reeling after the death of her loving parents, not able to see all the warning signs and red flags from a man like Gortash. That she was naive enough to trust a man like Gortash because he paid her well as his bodyguard and she felt respected by him. Don't think about how her loyal nature was taken advantage of.

Also don't think about how Karlach seems self-conscious if you actually call her pretty when romancing her, like she's never actually had anyone genuinely call her that, at least nobody in the past decade. Because she's been seen as a weapon for so long, that her entire worth has been valued by how good of a rampaging killer she is, that nobody has seen how truly beautiful in so many ways she is despite everything that has been done to her.

For anyone who likes romance and spies and yearning and a short king being completely head over heels for a woman that can (and does) kick his ass, Argylle is the movie for you. Feel like the marketing team is leaving money on the table by not appealing to the romance crowd that is crying out for more genuine love stories on film and the one in this movie is actually really sweet and features an attractive couple with actual personalities.
