Together Forever
So it turns out that Danny is functionally immortal, his living and ghostly forms stabilizing each other every time he transforms. What this means for his human body is that he keeps reverting back to the age of his death- if he wants to grow up, to grow old, he will have to give up the other half of himself.
Danny could also stay a ghost instead, but it doesn’t feel right. It would be too much somehow in a way he can’t explain. (To be a ghost is to be tethered to your pain. He doesn’t notice it while he’s dead but the relief is real each time he comes back to life.)
Tucker reincarnates, like he has been for the past millennia. Each time he forgets his friends, and each time he’ll look into an ancient mirror and slowly start to remember.
It’s not just Tucker who comes back. His parents also return, again and again to each other. They never remember but it’s comforting nonetheless. On his third life after being Tucker Foley, it occurs to him that they might be soulmates; his continued existence not an unnatural blackmailing of the universe (like magic so often is) but just… skitching a ride.
Sam lives. She’s idealistic, a fighter, and ambitious. She dabbles in the dark arts just enough to help further her bright-eyed goals. Then, for a while she disappears. When her friends finally find her again, she has demons- both literal and metaphorical. She stops dabbling, and lets herself age. (She won’t stop fighting though, she never will.)
Sam dies. Danny protects her soul, and Tucker helps preserve her heart and mind. Her ghost is a fearsome and terrible thing, nearly a goddess in her own right. Death frees her from her living burdens, and for the first time in centuries she feels as light as she was in her youth.
Dani and Vlad are similar to Danny, but they are not perfect. They have to eat.
Vlad’s death was gradual. There is no single moment his biology returns to when he transforms, so he ages. He sustains his living body with his ghostly form, so like Spectra and Desiree he learns to draw energy from human emotions.
Dani was born half-dead. The condition Vlad discovered in himself as he begun to live longer and longer than any human has natural access to, she had from the very beginning. Dani doesn’t bother with vampirism though. She’s a Frankenstein and she’s ok with it; she gets her ecto-vitamins in the form an injection by Danny.
One day Dani will find out why she wanders, and why she traces the same paths over and over again. (Sam will tell her about ley lines, liminal spaces, and tears in the veil between worlds.) She’ll find places and events where the air itself sustains and strengthens her. Sun on a flower.

And He Answered
Chapter 4
Words for this chapter: 1158
For @phicphight
Prompt by @erebecula Mermaid AU, where instead of being ectobiologists, Jack and Maddie Fenton study wildlife from under the sea— specifically mermaids. Amity Park is next to multiples large lakes and rivers, the Ghost Zone is underwater, all the ghosts are mers, and Danny is struggling to find a way to explain his sudden aversion to any things water.
No warnings for this chapter! (That I can think of)
First | Prev | Next | AO3
     "What exactly did you mean when you said I was a drowned."
   Princess Dorothea found the answer to be simple, but hard to deliver. No one wants to live with the fact they died. Calmly, she took a breath and began to explain,
   "Our people are made up of two main types of people. There are the spawned, those who are born a mer. They usually look less like a land dweller. Then there's the drowned, people who died at sea. Not everyone who drowns becomes a mer however. They have to have a strong will to live or the right conditions in order to manifest their new form."
    The young one looked down in thought. It reminded her of when she first became a mer. Her brother, Aragon, and her had been captured by Vikings and tossed into the sea. She remembers the cold water and her senses beginning to numb. Her change had scared her. That was a good millennium ago. A lot has changed since then.
    The boy looked up at her once more and asked,
  "So does the whole mer thing come with powers?"
   "Normally, yes, one can train in magic and develop powers that are specific to them. However, I cannot be sure with you, Young One, for your aura is different from that of a normal drowned. I have never sensed anything like it before. Was there anything unique about the circumstances of your transformation?"
   The boy (Danny?) thought for a second before answering her.
   "I, uh, don't remember what happened. I did have a dream though. I was in the sub. Water had already filled the cockpit. But there was a man, a blue man. He was wearing some kind of purple cloak and blew a ball of blue light at me, kinda like how you did with the language spell. He told me I was destined to 'unite the land and sea' or something like that."
   Dora gasped. There was a myth among the Mer of a guardian donned in purple. He was said to only appear in the darkest of times when the needs were great. Most mers had never encountered this man. Many thought it was just a legend. Only the Ancients know if this Master of Time truly exists. Thoughts of different prophecies filled her mind, but she pushed them out. What mattered right now was helping this kid.
    "Would you like to accompany me to the Atlantic? We could find you a tutor," she offered. The child's face brightened before scrunching up again.
  "I would love to, but I just remembered I have to get back home. My sister's probably worried about me."
  "Very well. If you come back tomorrow, maybe you may journey with me then."
   Dora escorted Danny back to his archway. He turned back to her and waved before diving into the swirling water.
  Safe travels, young one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Once he was over the disorientation, Danny swam towards the beach. Jazz was sitting on the sand reading a book.
   "Sorry, that took so long. I got caught up in something," he told her as he pulled his body onto shore.
   "What do you mean? You were only gone for like a minute," she replied while handing him a towel.
   "It felt a lot longer than that," he mumbled.
   "Well either way, Sam and Tucker will be expecting you at Nasty Burger in about 20 minutes."
   "You're right I should be getting ready."
   "That's right. We can't have them being suspicious. Although, I don't think it would be a bad thing to have them in the loop."
   "I know. I'll tell them eventually. I just want to figure things out for myself first."
   "And that's perfectly fine! Just remember that they are your friends, and I believe that they will support you."
   "Thanks Jazz."
    The siblings packed up their stuff and began their walk home. Machinery sounded from the lab as they entered their house. The Fenton parents must be working on something. Jack walked up from the lab covered in grease.
   "Jazzy! Danno! You're back!"
   Jack's gigantic arms wrapped around both his children and squeezed the life out of them.
  "Come see what we made! It'll blow those mer outta the water!"
   "Thanks, but no thanks, I got to study," was Jazz's reply.
   "Well that leaves you and me, Danno!"
    Danny tried his best to look excited. While they were walking down to the lab, Danny decided to risk it and ask his dad some questions.
    "Hey, Dad?"
    "Yes, so?"
     "Why do you hate the mer so much?"
     Jack looked at his son's thoughtful expression and sighed.
     "It all started when your mom, my buddy Vlad, and I were working on our college project. I've always believed that mer existed, especially since we Fentons come from a long line of sailors and merhunters, but I never encountered one until that day.
    We were out on a boat in a river nearby campus, collecting specimens to catalog for our marine biology class. We found different fish to weigh and categorize as well as some plants. Vlad found some snail shells and wanted to see if there were any snails living in them. He found one that was unlike any we had seen before. Unlike a normal shell, it was lime green! Unfortunately, Vlad made a huge mistake by grabbing it.
    A sea witch rose from the water and demanded the shell. We were all too petrified in fear to give it to her. She cursed Vlad and told him that he will become the thing he hates the most. The snail transformed into a large fish and splashed into the water. We were so scared, Danno!
   The rest of the day passed like normal, but it wasn't too long before we noticed a change in Vlad. He started isolating himself and would have random outbursts. Your mom and I tried to be there for him, but he pushed us away. Eventually, he hated us so much he wouldn't go near us. Vlad's life fell apart and it was all because of a mer. I've hated them ever since."
    "What if not all the mers are bad? Ya know like how there's good people and bad people? What if you just met a bad one?"
   "There's no such thing as a good mer," Jack's tone was dark and final. His opinion was set in stone. Danny's heart broke. He could never tell them. Maybe he wasn't blessed. Maybe he was cursed. Maybe he was cursed to become what his parents hate. He was cursed to become a mer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In a dark cavern, evil lay in wait. A shadow of a figure pulled out a key. He stuck the metal into the stone and turned. A red light flared up on a large triangle that was engraved in the wall. Soon there will be enough power. They just had to wait.
  Evil had opened the Bermuda Gate.

He looks good with kids.
Bucky x female!reader
Warnings: Kids. Jk, none, pure fluff.
Summary: Yn heart can't love more Bucky, but it can when she sees him with kids.
A/N: I gave a warning that i wanted to just write about domestic/Dad bucky. Is just the first of a thousand of bucky's fic's :)
Tumblr media
You arrived with your hand holding Bucky's.
"Aunt yn!" a little girl ran to you.
“Hey mor!” you let go of Bucky´s hand and hold the little girl. “how is my princess doing?”
“I dont want to be a princess anymore!” she said with a frown, you put her down.
“Why?” you tried to not laugh.
“Because if i want to be a queen, im gonna have to get married... with a...” she made a long pause, trying to say the next words. “boy! ew!” she said with a repulsive expression.
that was something you loved about the kids, their honesty, saying everything uncensored, you saw Bucky trying not to laugh next to you. “Morgan, say hi to Bucky, dont be rude.”
“Hi, Mr Barnes.” she was shy, and added a little wave, without leaving your side.
“Call me Bucky.” he winked at her, which made the girl blush, who could blame her?.
she nodded and then her mother appeared “Morg, go play.” the little girl obey and got inside the house. “Im so glad you could make it” she greeted huging you and gave your boyfriend a warm and friendly handshake. “But please come in”.
you took Bucky´s hand again, and got inside the house, it was such a warm and really normal and familiar house, you wouldnt guess it was Tony Stark place, it wasnt a big mansion as he used to, it didnt have any  technology gadget, and they had a yard, more like a yard it was a private forest, where all the avengers were.
“Im going to say hi to Natasha” you said, seeing her in the distance.
“Ok, i´ll go with Steve and Sam.” you nodded, Bucky kissed your cheek and headed to Natasha.
“Hey you!” your friend hugged you with one arm, cause she was holding a two month baby on her free arm, her daughter “Hey Thea, im your aunt, yn.”
the baby girl smiled at hearing your voice. “Can i hold her?”
“Of course!” she handed you the baby, when you took her in your arms, Nat sat down, glad that her arms could rest for a while. “Where´s Bucky?”
“Over there with your husband and Sam”
“It´s dangerous when they get together” you chuckled, giving her the reason, the baby start to cry. “Oh, let me”
“No,Nat, i can, dont cry Thea.” you rocked her and started singing to her. “ Hey Dorothea
Do you ever stop and think about me?
When we were younger
Down in the park”
“Doesnt she looks gorgeous with kids?” Bucky asked his two friends, they rolled their eyes.
“Uncle Bucky!” a boy approached.
“Hey kids!” they high five, smiling, it were AJ and Cass wilson, Sam nephews.
“Did you brought us what we asked for?” the soldier nodded, they went to his car, where he let out some water guns.
“Cool, thank you!” the younger one hugged his uncle and ran after his brother.
“JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES!” Sarah shouted at him, oops. “WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?, YOU GAVE MY BOYS WATER GUNS!"
Nat noticed bucky´s scared face while Sarah continued shouting at him. “Yn, your boyfriend is in trouble.”
“What?” you turned to see Bucky in the entrance. “I´ll be back.” you gave her Thea, and walked. “What´s going on?”
“James gave my kids water guns!”
your eyes opened surprised. “Why?, Bucky what...?”
“They asked me to, they texted me!” he said innocent.
“If something happens, they are your kids” Sarah said at Bucky and left, she was a good mom, she wanted what was best for her kids.
you went to sit with Bucky, saying hi to Thor and Jane, until three little girls, Morgan Stark, Cassie Lang and the younger who was Alice Quill walked there. “Auntie yn, can you come play with us?” Morgan said with a small pout.
“I´ll love it, but im going to help Sam, Sarah and Vision, to get the food ready.
“I can play with you.” Bucky said letting go of your hand. “If you want to.”
the three girls looked at you, where you just nodded. “Go, he is funny!” your boyfriend got up and walked. Morgan took the initiative and took Bucky´s hand.
“So, prince, which is your first decrete?” Cassie Lang said laughing, it been thirty minutes and the girls were comfortable now with the ex soldier, hugging him, holding his hands.
“That i get a bigger crown.” he took his princess crown off, which was hurting him, making the three girls laugh.
“Hands up! We are taking him”  The older Wilson said, pointing with his water gun.
“He is our prince, you cant take him.” The little Quill said, trying hard to hold to Bucky.
“We can!” Billy Maximoff said, he took A.J gun and got Bucky back wet.
‘i see why Sarah hated me for the water guns’ bucky thought to himself.
The boys were shooting water to the girls, and them throwing grass and toys, your boyfriend got up and tried to run.
“He is leaving!” Billy said, and all ran after him, you wouldnt guess that the weight of 7 kids could make a super soldier fall to the ground.
“Is little yn in love?” a girl voice said, Carol Danvers.
“Hey, Danvers” you turned and hugged her. “How are you?”
you started catching up, she telling you stories about the space, once in a while you turned to see Bucky in the ‘jail’, that was a playpen, where all the kids put him.
“You know his wife, will come to rescue him, right?” Morgan said to A.J while having a tea party.
“What wife?”
“Yn, duh.” she said as it was the only option.
“They arent married” the boy said.
“yes they are.” A.J just shooked his head.
“Kids, the food is ready!” Sam shouted and the kids ran, Bucky got up from the playpen  that they took from Thea, he approached you.
“I was expecting you to come to my rescue"he said resting his chin on your neck.
"Oh no, did you saw them? They had guns" you teased him, turning around to see him.
"Yn! You can stop time!" He said like a little kid, maybe an hour with 7 seven kids was more than enough.
"Here, you hamburger" You just said handing him the plate, with the bun and meat.
"Thank you, where we'll sit?"
You looked around searching for an empty table. "There" you pointed. "I was thinking of telling Sarah and Sam to sit with us".
Your boyfriend nodded, and taking your hand, you walked to the table, you were going to start eating when three girls approached the table.
"Aunt...yn... Can we, sit here?" Morgan Stark said shy, with Cassie and Alice by her side.
"Uh..." You looked at your boyfriend who with his look, he told you it was fine. "Sure, come."
"Guys, they said yes!" Morgan shouted and four more kids appeared.
"i thought it was only you three" Bucky said, trying not to laugh.
They sat, Morgan between you and Bucky, the food was delicious, and the kids were a good company. Bucky went for Soda, and coming back to his place he kissed your cheek, making you blush.
"I told you they are married!" Morgan said to A.J, biting her food.
"W-what?" You almost choke with the soda.
"Morgan thinks you two are married, but I've been telling her, you are just boyfriend and girlfriend" A.J said tired of the same argument.
"We are not married, sweetie" you cleared to the little Stark, who frown her eyebrows, confused.
"Then, why you kiss?, My mom and dad told me only married people do that." She looked at you, waiting for an answer, she was really confused, Bucky just smiled a bit.
"Because...umm..." You made a pause thinking what to answer, all the kids look where on you in that moment.
"We are going to get married, we're engaged." Bucky finally said, the most serious he could, not making notice it was a lie.
"When?" Cassie asked excited.
"Soon, in a few years, right yn?" You nodded, you let out a relief sigh, until two boys voices started arguing.
"Hey, Billy, Tommy, what is going on?"
"He took my chips without asking!" Tommy answered, looking at his brother wanting to kill him.
"But Tommy doesn't wants to share!" They started arguing again.
"Don't fight. Billy, we asked for things, and Tommy we have to share" they rolled their eyes, knowing their were being scolded. "Now Tommy, apologize"
"B-but."
"Tommy!" You looked at him, really serious. He took air and apologize, same with Billy. "Now both of you, go for more chips." They got up and murmuring they said something like 'she acted just like mom'
The food time was over, you and Bucky played hide and seek with the kids, when it was the soldiers turn to found you, Alice was the only one who hided with you, but when you had to find them, you knew wherever was Bucky you'll find at least a fifty percent of the kids. The time passed quickly hiding, and laughing.
"Who wants dessert?" Pepper said to the kids, whose eyes opened wide.
"Come on, Uncle Bucky!" Morgan took one hand of his and Cassie another, and walked together, but Alice started to cry.
"Um, Buck, you left something here." You said while Alice was on your arms.
"Sorry, baby, come on" he pointed his back with his head, and you put the little girl there. "Hold on tight" She did, putting her little arms around Bucky neck, while walking to the food area.
Once they got their dessert, including Bucky, all went to sit and start playing charades, you only heard kids real laughs, making you smile.
"Kids, why don't you go for yn?, she loves to play this, but it's to shy" Billy and Cassie nodded and went to grab you while you were with Tony and Steve.
"Come play with us, aunt yn!" Both making a pout. "Uncle Bucky said you like to play!"
"He did?" You gave a killing look to the blue eyed man, who just lift his shoulders innocent. "Fine, let's go"
You left Tony and Steve, and went play, you sat next to Bucky, his arm around your shoulders, that pose didn't last, because when you got up to play, Morgan took your place next to Bucky. 'Oh, so Bucky is the new favorite' you thought seeing him surrounded by all of them.
The day was over, after saying bye to Gamora, Quill and Alice, you helped Pepper to clean a bit.
"You know something, yn?" She said serious.
"Mhm?" You were picking up the plates and cups.
"All this afternoon, i saw a girl with Bucky, you should be more careful."
A girl? Which girl? All of the avengers girls were taken, you thought for a few seconds, but no one came to your mind, until Pepper told you to turn, where it was your boyfriend and the girl who wanted to steal him, Morgan, watching the Sunset, she was in his arms, one arm on his neck, while he was talking to her, not being to able hear, but seeing him with kids, to see his sweet and soft side made your heart melt.
"So, you see, the sun loves the moon so much, he goes to let her shine for hours." The girl's eye opened wide at the story.
"Morgan, they have to go." Her mother said walking to her.
"Stay to sleep, please?" Morgan said with a pout, without letting go of Bucky.
"We are going to stay at the Roger's, baby girl." You told her, which made her sad. "But, if you behave, we can make a sleepover next week at my place!"
Her eyes shined, and a smile appeared. "Really?"
"Of course, beautiful, but you have to be nice, ok?" Your boyfriend told the little girl putting her down.
"Mom, he calls me beautiful! He doesn't calls yn that" she tried to whisper but failed, Pepper just nodded, taking her hand, getting inside of the house"Bye guys." Morgan shouted before entering the house.
"what?" Your boyfriend noticed you looking at him.
"nothing..." You chuckled softly, and got into the Rogers car.
A few days later.
You were making breakfast, when your phone rang, the contact name was Tony Stark, it was a FaceTime. What if something had happened to him? Was he okay? You answered nervous, but when the camera opened, you saw Morgan, making you feel relieved.
"Hey Morgan!" You greeted her.
"Hi, aunt yn!" You could tell her she was trying to see the house, looking for something. "Are you alone?"
"Yes?"you said confused" But one friend is coming over."
"Oh, is not uncle Bucky there?" You chuckled, of course she wanted to see her 'uncle'.
"No sweetie" you shook your head, making Morgan eyes sad. "He went to help uncle Sam with something, he'll be back at night."
"Oh okay, I'll call him then! Bye." You were going to talk but she hang up.
The night came and your boyfriend went to your place to say hi and having dinner.
While eating dinner, you said to him about the morning call.
"I received a weird call today"
"What?, From who?" He asked looking up from his dumplings.
"A girl you know." You said serious, like you were mad.
"come on yn, it was Wanda? Or Carol, or Natasha?" You shook your head.
"Morgan Stark" He laughed.
"Wait, why?"
"She wanted to talk to you, you should call her" your look went back to your noodles.
"Are you jealous that she prefers me?" He teased you, making you laugh.
"No..."
"Yes, you are." He pointed his fork at you, making you let out a good laugh.
"Just call Morgan!" You said playing you were angry, after dinner he did, you heard how Morgan told him all about school, and her toys, and dolls, all that she could ever think about, and he was paying attention, gasping every minute about something she said or showed.
Your heart melted again. 'He looks so good with kids'.

CHAPTER TEN
Ch. Summary: Having successfully wooed Thea long ago, Sam puts a ring on it. For now, all is well.
Warnings: cursing, endgame/infinity war spoilers, drinking (in the context of a wedding reception)
Pairings: Sam Wilson x OFC
A/N: short and sweet ending. if you’re not caught up with tgd, you can read the rest of the story here, but otherwise this is it! i love thea so so much and i really enjoyed writing her. i hope this lives up to sam/thea shipper’s standards bc this chapter is all fluff...if people are interested maybe i’ll throw together a blurb or two later, but like i said, for now, this is the end.
Tagging some people so it isn’t lost in the tl: @star-spangled-beard-burn @suz-123 @curtainlover @annathesillyfriend

With the unique hell of her past, déja vu is thankfully not something Thea is overly familiar with. However, standing on the compound’s roof staring out into the sunset, a tingling of familiarity creeps up her spine. When she turns, he’s there, and when she blinks, he doesn’t disappear. Sam is real once more, in her arms like he has been for the past year. Thea buries her face into his chest as he runs a hand over her braids.
“Technically, it’s bad luck to see each other before the wedding.” Sam’s voice is soft, joking, but Thea still halfheartedly drives a fist into his gut.
“Shut up, Wilson,” She grumbles into his shirt. “Not ever letting go of you again if I don’t have to.”
Sam tucks her head closer to his heart, calloused hands cradling her to him. “I know, honey, I know.”
-----------------
Wanda gapes as Thea steps out into the hall, Pepper right behind her.
“Wilson is a lucky, lucky man, Thea,” The Sokovian murmurs as she steps closer, securing one of the flowers twisted into Thea’s hair like a crown. Morgan, beside her, bounces eagerly on her heels, nearly spilling her basket of petals. Pepper quickly snags the basket from the young girl as Thea scoops Morgan into her arms.
“Mama did so good, Auntie Dot!” Morgan exclaims, leaning back precariously in Thea’s arms to tug at a kinky curl. “Just like a princess.”
Thea plants a kiss on Morgan’s forehead in thanks. As Morgan squeals, swiping at the glittery imprint left on her face, boots pound up the stairs. Bucky peeks around the corner, hair freshly cropped. He runs a hand over it and lets out a low whistle as he gives Thea a once over.
“Damn, Doc. Not too shabby out of them scrubs,” He drawls. Thea turns Morgan’s face away with one hand and flips him off with the other. Bucky only rolls his eyes, making a show of shifting uncomfortably in his suit jacket. “Ladies, you might want to head out. ‘Cept you Miss Morgan.”
“I go first!” Morgan cheers. She squirms, and is back to bouncing as soon as Thea sets her down. Pepper hands Bucky the basket as she and Wanda slip past him. Bucky crouches, handing the basket to Morgan with as much seriousness as he can muster.
“That’s right, bubba, but you gotta stay still so you don’t spill it, okay?” Bucky instructs as he hands the basket to her. Morgan salutes him, and Thea bites her lip as Bucky salutes right back. “Awesome. How about you go wait with Mr. Steve at the end of the aisle, okay?”
Morgan nods eagerly, scampering off towards the stairs. She holds her basket as steady as possible all the way down. Bucky gets up like he hasn’t just interacted with a child in the sweetest way possible, brushing off the knees of his dress pants. He catches the look Thea’s giving him, though, and makes his face as threatening as possible even as his cheeks flush. “Not a word, Doc.”
“Of course not,” Thea murmurs. Bucky leans around her, grabbing her bouquet off a small table beneath a painted portrait of the Stark’s that makes him quickly avert his gaze. She thanks him softly, smoothing her dress one last time before taking it from him. Thea makes to go around him, but he stops her with a light grip on her shoulders.
“You sure you wanna do this?” He inquires, and Thea knows that he’s only half joking. “I can fly a helicopter. I’m sure Stark’s got one stashed here somewhere. You just say the word...”
Thea laughs, though not unkindly. “That’s sweet, James, but I’m pretty positive this is what I want.”
She stands on her toes to press a kiss to the soldier’s cheek, though she knows it doesn’t nearly express how grateful she is in the way she needs it to. Finally, they join the others outside. Morgan is chatting animatedly with Wanda about their matching dresses; Steve, barely recognizable even after a year, smiles at them as they step off the porch . Pepper’s strawberry blonde head can be picked out of the thin crowd, right up front.
“You look lovely, Thea,” Steve whispers as she steps up beside him. Bucky snorts.
“You would think so, practically eye-level with-” Thea punches him in the arm before he can finish the thought. He snickers as he walks off, linking arms with Wanda. The wedding march starts; both Wanda and Bucky urge Morgan forward. She skips down the aisle, joyfully scattering rose petals, and just past her is the sight that truly cements the moment for Thea. Sam, all decked out in a three-piece suit, a pale orange rose pinned to his label matching the blooms in Thea’s hair. The hand on Steve’s wheel-chair tightens.
“It’s surreal, right?” The man in question breathes, just for Thea’s ears as Bucky and Wanda make their way towards the makeshift alter in Pepper’s backyard. Thea can only nod, because suddenly Steve is wheeling himself forward, and she’s almost in a trance alongside him. Bucky gives her a thumbs up from Sam’s right; Wanda offers a reassuring smile. Steve grips her hand tightly just before she steps away. Sam turns to face her, watery eyes never straying. She bites back the overwhelmed, joyful sob that rises in her throat when he links their fingers between them.
“Alright, everybody, thanks for being here today. This isn’t a real bible, its just a fancy notebook with all the officiate-y lines in it,” Happy laughs nervously along with the small audience of friends and family they’ve amassed. “No, seriously, I got certified online last week because Pepper...nevermind. Sam, repeat after me... ”
Thea finally does let it all go when she slides a thick silver band onto Sam’s finger with shaking hands, crying openly as he returns the gesture with a thinner, sapphire-studded ring. When he kisses her, he cradles her face in his hands. It quickly turns into his hands slipping down to her hips. Thea laughs into the kiss as he grips her ass tightly in one hand, her waist in the other, dipping her low over his knee. The crowd whoops and hollers; Sam rights Thea back on her feet, both of them breathless and smiling like idiots. The moment is shattered as there’s a loud cough, and Bucky slings off his bow-tie.
“Can we get to the food already?”
--------
“Can I have everybody’s attention please?” Sam’s standing from his chair, clinking a champagne flute with his knife. Per his request, everyone in Pepper’s dining room-turned-banquet hall turns to face him and conversations cease. “Thanks. I don’t know if the husband usually gives any type of speech but, here goes nothing.
“When I first met my wife,” He pauses to glance at Thea, grin enormous. “When I first met my wife, I didn’t think she’d be my wife. I mean, obviously, I thought she was gorgeous, but I hadn’t seriously thought about dating anyone in...I don’t even know when. Superhero thing kinda takes over your life, you know? Being a vet counselor wasn’t much better. But Thea...Thea was different. She was smart, funny...she could tolerate Tony effin’ Stark. She’s also one of the strongest people I know. I started ‘wooing’ her partially as a joke, cuz, hey, what shot did I have? C’mon. Wiseass vet in his thirties, saves the world in a bird costume. And this woman...this woman not only was a surgeon, she had a damn PhD! And then we find out she can heal people with a freakin’ touch...no way. No shot in hell. But she took it all in stride, and saw something in me - I still don’t know what - and she chose me. She chose me, and I promised already, but baby,”
Sam turns to Thea instead of the guests now, reaching out a hand that she gladly accepts. With her free hand, she swipes at stray tears leaking from her eyes. “Dorothea Triplett-Wilson, I promise I’m gonna choose you every goddamn day of my life. If I’m still saving the world in ten years, it’s only to keep you in it, and make it a better place for our kid.”
“Your WHAT?” This comes from Wanda. Beside her, Bucky has promptly choked on his champagne. Morgan is parting his back with as much force as she can muster. When she finally gathers the courage to peek through her fingers, Thea meets her husband’s embarrassed face. Despite the chaos around them, he gives her his most charming smile.
“Oops?”

Danny Fenton stood inside the dark tunnel of the only portal his parents couldn't get to work because he couldn't say no to a dare. He tripped on his way out. Now he has to deal with figuring out how to come out to his parents as being half ghost, while dealing with all the ghosts that come out of the portal.
Tucker and Sam stare at each other.  For a handful of moments, neither is entirely sure what they should do.  Sam is full of shock and anger and regret and terror.  She could've died.  Her best friends could have died.  How is a teenager even meant to process that?  She wants to curl up on the ground and hide from everything in that moment, will all the nasty reality that is Ghosts away.  But Tucker is bent over Danny, and Danny is out cold.  So she packs away the emotions, cools her shit, and bends down.  "You get his legs, I'll take his shoulders.  FentonWorks?"
They get him there.  Danny's parents are downstairs, working on something.  They get Danny on his bed, and Sam slumps against the door.  Tucker and Danny skipped over a detention essentially and all three have skipped school.  So Tucker goes down to erase the Fenton's voice mailbox and sends out a bug to his own.  Sam has no clue why he has that ready but asks if he can do it with her folks' line.  He asks for a few minutes. The silence passes, Tucker gets on Danny's laptop.  He always fled to the tech when he needed somewhere safe.  Eventually, he asks.  "You ok?  Today went to shit."
"No, I don't think I am.  Like, the worst I've got is some bruising that my make up can handle.  I need a shower, I guess."  They both know why she isn't actually ok.  Neither wants to bring it up.  So instead, Sam checks Danny's closet and finds something she'd left there a couple months back.  "I'm gonna do that actually.  Keep an eye on him?" Tucker grunted in acknowledgment.  That was the best she'd get so Sam grabbed a spare towel from the dresser and headed to the shower.
When Sam got back she looked over Tucker's shoulder.  Images of old ladies in familiar looking uniforms were all over the screen.  "Looking her up?"
"If we know more about her then we can talk it out with her right?"  Tucker's fingers paused over the keyboard.  He stretched, looking over at her.  "Right?"
"Probably.  Looking to work that Foley Charm on her?"  Sam elbowed him lightly in the ribs.  Tucker clutched his chest as though he'd been broken.  Thank gods for that smile on his face.  "Tell me you aren't planning to flirt with her.  Danny might get jealous."  Tucker snorted.
"I don't think Danny is into old ladies who occasionally burst into flames." Tucker went back to typing and clicking, screen light glaring off his lenses.  "So, my theory is that ghosts draw on ambient energy to sustain themselves.  When we went into that fight my phone was on like… 50 percent.  When we got here it was at 17.  So maybe we should carry batteries on us?"
"And our wrist rays."  Sam was never letting herself be helpless like that again.  "what've you got on her so far?"
"She said the menu hasn't changed in 50 years and she wasn't kidding.  So I'm looking back at people employed by Casper back when she was alive, and hoping I can recognize her facial structure."
"Impressive."  Sam sighed and looked over at Danny.
He zipped up his suit.  Sam made a face at him and pulled off the logo of his dad's face.  "You can't go around with this on your chest."  He agreed. If Danny ever met aliens of the extradimensional kind, he didn't want them to see his dad's face plastered on him.  Danny walked into the tunnel that was his parents' ghost portal, looking all around it.  The whispers of those other worlds called out in his head again.  As he walked deeper into the portal, Danny saw nothing wrong.  Not a nut or bolt out of place.  He got to the end. It was dark.  Too dark to see anything.  Turning back, he kept a hand on the wall to steady himself.  His foot hit a raised panel, and Danny leaned to the left for support. There was a click.
Danny opened his eyes and saw Sam looking down at him.  Not unusual.  The soreness in his muscles, however, was.  Danny stopped mid-stretch and winced.  "Oh. Right.  20-foot meat monster."  Tucker was at his desk, turned around in the chair and giving him that frown he had when Dash had slammed Danny into a locker.  "How long was I out for?"
"Four days."  Tucker reached under Danny's bed and lifted up a bag of Nasty Burger.
"Four Days?!"
"Nah, like, 2 hours dude."  Tuck chuckled and handed him a wrapped burger.  "You need this dude, that fight took a shit ton outta you."
“Don’t I know it.”  Danny unwrapped the burger and sank his teeth in.  He'd been hungrier than he thought.  It felt like a blink before the burger was gone.  "Thanks, dude, I really needed that.  We basically skipped lunch, didn't we?"  That thought had a horrible domino effect and Danny tore the burger wrapping in half.  "Fuck, my parents are gonna kill me!"
"I erased the voicemail from your box, mine, and Sam's.  Don't worry about that."
"Speaking of, how ya doin Sam?"  Danny turned, looking his friend over and wincing at the bruises on her arms.  “Fuck, the meat pile did that?”
“Yeah, turns out being grabbed up by a bunch of proceeded corpses can do some damage.”  Sam shrugged.  “It’s nothing I can’t fix with some concealer and sleeves.”
“It’s still warm though,” Danny said.  “You good baking yourself?”
“The heaters in the school barely work, and it’s nearly October, Danny.  Things have cooled down plenty.”  Sam frowned and looked over to Tucker.  “Do head injuries affect the perception of temperature?”
“I’m sure they can.  If only someone hadn’t summoned up a meat-obsessed lunch lady with a menu change.”  Tucker paused and raised a brow.  “Actually, how in the hell did you even get them to change it?  Nevermind the why.”
“The why, Tucker, is that schools need to promote healthier changes in the food we consume.”  Sam had that fire in her eyes.  Again.  Danny let out a long sigh, which went ignored by his bickering friends.
“And removing an entire food group from the menu was your solution?”
“It’s one we don’t even need Tucker!  Do you know how inefficient the transfer of calories from meat into our bodies is?”
“We need protein, Sam!  If there’s anything that the Lunch Lady said truthfully it’s that!  Look at Danny!  He barely gets any protein, you can see how that’s turned out for him.”
“My dude, I’m not the only skinny person here.”
“And whether or not we have meat and protein isn’t your decision to make for us all, Sam!”  Tucker glared balefully at the vegan and stood up from Danny’s chair.  “You had to be an individual and have all your individual needs met over what anyone else wanted, didn’t you?  No one but you even wanted this menu change and I’m going to fix it!”  Tucker stormed out of the room, leaving the door open.
“Oh like Hell you’re gonna undo all my hard work!”  Sam barged out as well, completely forgetting Danny as she slammed his door shut.  And Danny stared at that door for a moment before groaning into his pillow.
“This is going to be a whole thing, isn’t it?”  For several moments, Danny laid there and stared up at the constellations he’d put up on his ceiling in glow in the dark stickers.  His stomach reminded him of its existence, and Danny groaned again.  He still had some allowance left, so he went out and headed to the Nasty Burger.  Considering Tucker’s words and how much he’d done that day, Danny ordered a full meal.
After he’d eaten and walked it off on the way home, Danny let what had happened that day go through his mind.  Even as he fought off a small angry blob with his wrist ray, growling at it.  “Ghosts aren’t mindlessly violent beings. I know that.”  He needed to believe that.  “So, that means that she can be calmed, somehow.  She kept going on and on about the benefits of meat, and she died years ago…”  An email notification popped up on Danny’s computer, and he sighed.  “Right, homework assigned by Lancer.  What would I do without Tuck?”
The next day, Danny pulled on one of his darker shirts - a gift from Sam with some constellation’s accurately displayed - and some jeans.  His parents didn’t come up to join him and Jazz that morning, which was likely for the best.  Danny didn’t need their ghost radar pointing at him before he could figure out how to break their biases.  The second his cereal was finished, though, Danny pulled out his journal and attached pencil.  “No,” Danny snapped when he heard Jazz take a familiar breath.  “It’s not a diary, no you may not read it.  For the 11th time, Spazz.”  One weird benefit of super hearing - I can tell when she’s about to speak.  Everyone had different rhythms for when they spoke and when they were thinking etcetera.  Danny knew his sister’s patterns almost as well as Tucker and Sam’s.
Danny wrote into his journal a goal of recording his encounters with apparently sapient ghosts and how quickly he managed to pacify them.  If only he could think of how to pacify this one.
Once the hybrid got to school - later than he would’ve been had those damned blobs not been so interested in fucking with him - Danny groaned as he was dragged to the Vice Principal’s office.  There he found Tucker, who was glaring down at the desk in just the right angle to look like he was glaring directly ahead.  A trick he’d developed for gathering valuable passwords while tricking Lancer and other authorities into thinking he was just a semi-rebellious teen.  Danny couldn’t tell what Tucker could possibly be trying to gather from the desk now, but he may have just been scowling.  Tucker was complicated that way.
“Take a seat, Mr. Fenton.”  Danny obeyed and took his seat, looking steadfastly at the space just behind Lancer’s head.  “Tell me, gentlemen, how and why did you leave my office when both of you were already being punished for starting a food fight in the cafeteria?”  Before either could come up with an answer, Lancer slammed his hand down hard on the desk, and Danny flinched.  “What could possibly have possessed you two to skip school for the rest of the day?”
Danny squirmed a bit, while Tucker took even, obviously measured breaths.  He then looked up at Lancer directly.  “We were worried about Sam, sir.  She hadn’t answered any of her texts, and she always answers even when we’re fighting to make sure we know she’s safe.”  Not untrue, Sam wouldn’t have been able to answer a text if they tried that.  Danny nodded along to Tucker’s story.
“We left out the window to find her, which took forever since she had gone to find a way to help organize something for the school.”  Danny put on his most apologetic face.  “We’re truly sorry about ditching you, Mr. Lancer, but we had to make sure our friend was safe, you see.  We wanted to make sure none of the jocks or anyone had gone and done something horrible to her as revenge for getting the menu changed for a week.”
Lancer glared between the two of them for several seconds more, and Danny fought to keep himself still.  “Fine,” Lancer finally allowed.  “I will be following up with Ms. Manson to confirm all of this, but you won’t be receiving too harsh a punishment for looking out for your friend.  For endangering yourselves by leaving through the window, however, and for leaving without simply telling me, you will be serving both lunch detention and after-school detention.  Do you understand, boys?”
“Of course, Mr. Lancer.”  It amazed Danny, at times, that he and Tucker could speak in unison.  They were like twins.
“Dismissed.  You two best not be late to my class.”
On the way to class, Danny brought up his thoughts on trying to appease the Lunch Lady.  “Her name is Agatha,” Tuck said.  “Agatha Reece.  And maybe you could, I dunno, teach her about the health crisis in America?  Help me organize the school to reform the menu the right way?”
“You want it changed too now?  I thought you were gonna get it changed back early, or something?”
“Oh no, the food around here sucks either way.”  Tucker rolled his eyes.  “I just wish we had like, a better storage of better food in general.  I could recommend my uncle and aunt’s farm for fresh, nearby food products.”
“If only we knew how Sam had convinced the school to do this whole ‘vegie week’ thing.”  Danny shook his head.  “That’s what really doesn’t make sense to me.  We’ve only been in school for like, a month or so.  How the hell did Sam ‘wear them down’ so quickly?”
“No clue,” Tucker growled.  For a moment the hair on Danny’s nape stood on end at the sound.  “But, I’m going to make a petition, and head around the school getting signatures for a better permanent change decided on by the students.”
Danny patted Tucker’s shoulder and nodded somberly.  “Leave some printer paper for the rest of us at least?”
Tucker raised his nose, Danny now straining to hold in the laughter in front of the door.  “Sorry Danny, but a man on a mission has to go to all lengths to complete his quest.”
Danny bowed at the waist.  “Of course, Friar Tuck, how could I possibly forget?”
“You are forgiven, peasant Daniel.”  Tucker laughed and pulled Danny into the classroom.  Things would be alright.  Danny just needed to weather the storm and make sure both of his friends were still friends by the end of it.
It proved far more difficult a task done than said.  The three had most classes together, but Tucker was busily writing something down every few seconds in a second journal in his desk while he worked.  Tuck had the most fascinating form of ambidextrousness.  He barely paid any attention to Danny’s attempts to start a conversation and crumpled up any notes about Sam he slid over.
Similarly, Sam was ignoring him almost entirely.  She took her notes, but every time she caught him whispering to Tucker, she glared and went cold on Danny himself.  Am I not allowed to talk to both of my friends?
Lunch came around, Lancer had them eating in his room, and Danny had never been more grateful to Tucker’s mom than he had been when Tuck handed him an extra bagged lunch.  “Tuck, you are the best.”
“I know it, dude.”
“Gentlemen!  This is meant to be a time of quiet reflection upon your misdeeds.”  Lancer glared at them until the teens went to silently eating, and Lancer went back to whatever he was doing on his computer.  If Danny focused on the man’s headphones hard enough he could pick up the faint sound of… blasters?  Weird.
At the end of the day, however, while the two were meant to be heading to detention, Tucker was going around and asking groups of friends who were lingering about something and holding up a clipboard that Danny was almost certain he stole from his dad’s office.  Along with that pen.  Never was Danny ever earlier than Tucker to something, but apparently, detention was one of those things.  Sam, surprisingly, was also there.
“Lancer got you too?”  Danny asked as he swept a bit nearer to the goth
“I was gone all day.”  Sam shrugged, pushing the few remains of grass and mud into a pile and then grabbing a dustpan.  “Plus I wanted to help clean it up anyway.  We need this place to eat in after all.”
“Actually, I heard Jerry and Katelyn at least were eating on the theater stage.”  The two scooped everything up into a trash bag with the dustpan.  “They were inviting some other people to bring sandwiches and chips and stuff.”
“Oh wow,” Tucker called out from where Danny was very sure he shouldn’t have been able to hear them.  “No one wanted to eat garbage right from the ground?  I’m surprised, shocked even.”
“Had you actually been there to see, Tucker, there were plenty of people eating peacefully in the cafeteria today!”  Sam looked downright murderous and stomped off to clean away from Tucker.  Danny sighed a heavy sigh and shook his head.
The detention had gone on for an hour, but it’d felt like forever.  Danny watched both his friends march off in different directions and groaned.  Another friendless night for him.  After a trip to the Nasty Burger, Danny did a little walk around the city.  A few ghosts that he could see when the world lost focus skittered away from him, or ignored him entirely.  Some attacked, but his wrist ray had yet to run out of juice even though he forgot to charge it last night.  “Maybe something to do with my other self.  Gonna have to ask mom and dad about that.”  A shiver ran down Danny’s spine, a puff of mist coming out of his mouth and he looked around, letting his senses shift into that surreal state of his ghostly self.  He saw nothing out of the ordinary.  Relaxing, Danny sighed and headed home.
"Danny!"  His dad, Jack Fenton, only seemed to speak in exclamation marks. Danny wondered if he'd ever had an inside voice.  "C'mon, dinner's ready son!"
Danny raised a brow.  "Who cooked?" He'd eaten his Nasty Burger meal and was pretty sure he got all he needed.
"I did!"  On the other hand, more food that wasn't infected with ectoplasmic residue sounded nice.  Danny set down his bag and headed into the kitchen, where his dad had set out chicken, mashed potatoes, garlic bread, and spinach.  His mom and sister were already sitting and eating, and Danny gave them both a wave.
"Hi, Danny!  Juice is in the fridge.  Jazz reminded your father and I we need to refresh our minds with some air every now and then.  I thought, why not a family dinner?"  Mom shrugged as she picked up a chicken leg.  "Jack insisted on cooking."
"Mom," Jazz said in her best calming voice, "Dad never mutates the food."
While Mom and Jazz debated who had the bigger mishaps with ectoplasm - Danny felt the Christmas turkey and Dad dragging them into a world of blinding perpetual light ranked as the biggest mishaps period - Danny grabbed himself a plate and fruit punch.  Jazz clearly grabbed some groceries before telling their parents to surface.
Halfway through his meal, a thought struck Danny.  "Hey Dad, Mom?  How does ectoplasm interact with electricity in its rawest most natural form?  The ectoplasm not the electricity."
Jazz stared at him in betrayal, Why written in her expression.  His parents, however, jumped on the thought of their son having an interest in their work.  Danny had never seen his dad swallow food that fast.
"Ya see Danno, ectoplasm as it is when we retrieve it is naturally an energy thief.  In relation to electromagnetic radiation, it soaks in any and all of it from the area with the exclusion of green visible light.  That's why it feels so cold."
"If we can refine our engines properly we can utilize the flip side of  that natural state," his mom added, "We could revolutionize energy efficiency in technology around the world!"
"It can store up a lot of power, but once it hits it's maximum?"  Dad held his hands together then spread them out so fast he almost smacked Jazz and Danny.  "It all comes out in an intense burn!  Ectoplasm is either plasma hot or cold as space.  When it's cold, it'd drain the power out of everything around it."
Danny nodded, letting the info process for a couple of moments while he ate.  "So if, say, a ghost was to eat human food…?"
"Well," his mom twirled her fork around.  "It likely wouldn't, but if it did the ghost would soak up all the energy that could be gotten out of the material in the food, leaving nothing but ashes."
Danny nodded, curiosity satisfied, and steered the conversation elsewhere.  Once he was done clearing off his plate, Danny was struck with a realization.  It was the sort of thing that happened all the time, when a thought lingered in his head, waiting to present itself.  Usually, that was artistic inspiration.  Now he knew exactly how to calm down Agatha.  Up the stairs, he ran to his computer.
