Disaster twins meeting Apple twins.
The twin-pocalyps!
… I had plans for my small bit of freetime tonight.
How dare you put this image in my mind. I couldn’t not draw it asap
Tumblr media
Dream and Leo would be the best of friends you cannot tell me otherwise.
… the other two might need a bit more time.

Initially I thought Knuckles and Jet could fit equally good as either Dagur or Snoutlout (I'm never getting used with his original name LOL), but then nah... Dagur is too much villainous in the start, like he is deliberately such a madman and had such a charisma being that villain and was so into being like that by his pure free will plus the way he was used to see the world and such that not Knuckles or Jet can fit, none of them were ever evil to begin with, one was misguided and the other is just not exactly good as well.
Knuckles being there was only guided by the aesthetic since you're considering Blaze to be Heather and then the two ✨guardians✨would be the siblings and it made sense to me for a time.
Meanwhile I just thought on Jet because of SatBK, as many point out Lamorak and Percival are siblings in the Arthurian Stories, that's it...
Buuuuuut y'know what, or rather who, have a personality that matches with Dagur? Infinite! Yes, I'm suggesting him, I feel like he has the vibes to take Dagur's role.
Then we get who would be Snoutlout and a further thought put Jet out, Initially they seemed equally perfect as them both have that dynamic, like they hype themselves and even boast like they were better than Sonic, but then the narrative is like "actually, Sonic is just as good as them... I think he's even better lol" if it even makes sense...
But then, let's be real, if there's something ridable in the universe, Jet is doing that years before than Sonic (Uh, he could be one of that group that raises the kind of dragon Heather rides, which I'm not sure of the name in the original dub)
Also, Snoutlout is kinda like Hiccup's first rival, just like Knuckles, so yeah, Knux is the better suíted.
I won't lie, I also think Vector could work as Snoutlout, his attitude + the soft and sensible side he gets in the series (and I think were carried to the second and third movies I need to rewatch) + the kid he have quite a quarrelsome big-lil bros dynamic with made Vec just pop around here
So in short, I invaded your Ask Box to suggest you to put Infinite in Dagur's role and that somehow I suggest Knuckles and Vector equally to Snoutlout's role
I thought about the twins too, but the fact one of them ends with Fishleg, who iirc is Tails, makes it harder
Yeah Jet never really wanted to KILL Sonic so he doesn't quite fit Dagur, and as you say Knuckles was just misguided and eventually becomes besties with Sonic - which is why I feel he works better as Snotlout too!
I DID actually think of Infinite as Dagur!! Even before Blaze as Heather (which might have been Chaz's idea I don't remember who said it first now lol). Cuz he definitely does fit how Dagur acts in riders/defenders but not really in rtte where he has a complete personality change and decides to be good sjfjdhfgd. But it could still work perhaps... there's enough reformed Infinite aus out there that it wouldn't be TOO weird lol. I'll see I'll see, again I'm not sticking with all the canon relationships so he doesn't have to be Blaze's brother if I do have him as Dagur.
Also I'm crying do you mean Mala? Jet as Mala, queen of the defenders of the wing? Who ends up married to Dagur?? Maybe you meant one of the others but I'm LOSING it at Jet/Infinite... that's so funny I've never considered that ship ever. Yeah why not Jet can be Mala LMAO
I don't think I would consider Vector as Snotlout (sorry) just cuz I wanted the main squad to be the classic characters y'know? And Shadow lol. That said, my original line up was Jet as Snotlout, Tails as Fishlegs, Knuckles as Tuffnut and Amy as Ruffnut. However. And I'm very sorry about this... I just don't like Jet. I don't have any real reasons, I just don't lmao so I didn't want him to be part of the main gang ^^;
I did have a vague thought of Vector being Gobber but idk... if he was he definitely wouldn't have the same dynamic with Aleena that Gobber and Stoick do lol!!
Someone mentioned Sticks as Tuffnut which is hilarious but they wouldn't have the same dynamic as Ruff and Tuff so idk. That's why I thought of just having 5 of them rather than 6 and not having twins at all (rip). Amy and Knuckles can still have the headbutting dynamic as they're both pretty hot headed, they don't need to be related to do that!
If we wanna talk about canon httyd relationships then Fishlegs also dates Heather in rtte, as well as Snotlout having a GIANT gay crush on Fishlegs in one ep, and the both of them fighting over Ruffnut in the 2nd movie. So like I'm not gonna be doing all that don't worry skfhfhsgs I'm picking and choosing the dynamics I like and want to keep.

This is based on @blaiddraws Fulcrum AU. Albeit a slightly outdated version.
Unfortunately, it’s incomplete and I likely won’t return to it for two reasons: I wasn’t satisfied with how it was going in the first place, and my interpretation ended up diverging substantially from their canon. Maybe I’ll take another stab at it someday, but for now this is what I’ve got ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
---
It was important to note that they hadn’t always been Reshiram and Zekrom.
Certainly, they’d been the ‘Vessels of Truth and Ideals’ their entire lives, but it hadn’t meant anything until Team Plasma reared its head. Emmet got prickly about white lies. Ingo was sensitive to dark thoughts. That was that, and they dealt with it the way generations before them had.
But theirs was the first generation to see the dragons awake-- to understand why the title [bequeathed] to the Hero’s [surviving] line was ‘vessel’ rather than ‘emissary’. It had been a steep learning curve, but one of the qualities to look for in a conductor was the ability to keep a level head in times of crisis. All there was to say on the matter was that they’d gotten through it.
Nobody else had to know that Ingo spent several days a year brushing out his twin’s shed fur, or that, technically, Emmet’s clutter of Joltik served a medical purpose now, feeding off of the excess charge that thunderstorms built up beneath his brother’s scales. They’d long since gotten used to it all.
Which was why it took Emmet completely off-guard to wake up with a) his head pillowed on his arms and also b) fur.
That wasn’t right.
What the heck.
He was pretty sure he hadn’t done anything to make that happen… unless Ingo had been telling the truth when he claimed [spoiling a Pokemon] had been Emmet sleepwalking. At the time, it had the subtle bite of a lie made in jest, but in hindsight, Emmet couldn’t help but wonder. He looked around the apartment, just in case, but everything was exactly the way he’d left it before his nap.
Slowly, over the course of the afternoon, he came to the conclusion that it must have been his brother’s fault. Emmet had been asleep, and all of the evidence suggested he’d stayed put the entire time, which meant he had an alibi. The only logical answer was that his twin had royally screwed up somewhere over the course of his errands; impressive as the [end results] were, Ingo was in for it once Emmet furreted out the exact nature of the [incident].
He didn’t spare a thought as to why he’d also been affected, so far away from the inciting incident. It was just common sense. They triggered subtle changes in themselves-- and, therefore, one another-- at least once a week out of excitement alone. Just Tuesday, he’d had to pat his budding muzzle down in the face of [idk], and looked over to find scandalized eyes peering out at him from behind the edge of a collar.
So, while Emmet couldn’t help but wonder, he had an idea what might have happened.
His money was on [idk].
Emmet’s claws slipped against his Xtransceiver’s casing, and he let it clatter to the table. Navigating its functions had been far more difficult than it had any right to be, and Ingo hadn’t even bothered to answer for his crimes once Emmet got the hang of it. Maybe he had his on silent. It would make sense-- while Emmet was here at home, stuck between forms, Ingo would be in a trickier situation out there in public. Hopefully he’d been out of the way when it happened.
He tried smoothing his fur down, hoping that the self-soothing might remedy the situation, but found no such luck-- despite himself, the fur along his neck bristled, undoing any [effect] the ministrations might have wrought.
And, as the hours passed, the inability to keep his fur flat turned into an anxious burn at the back of his throat. He all but pounced on his Xtransceiver when it finally rang.
Fumbling in his haste, he managed to pick up on the third ring-- after accidentally rejecting some manner of notification-- and immediately asked “What did you do?”
There was a long silence on the other end-- an oddity for his sibling-- and, impatient, he broke it.
“Ingo. What happened.”
A polite cough sounded, and then he was answered by a woman’s voice, “Out of an abundance of caution, can I ask who I’m speaking with?”
“I am Emmet,” He said automatically, before his brain caught up to what he was hearing; once it did, though, he found himself baring his teeth at the interloper. He glanced down at the Xtransceiver properly this time-- belatedly realizing he’d actually disabled video calls a moment prior-- to confirm the contact. Sure enough, it wasn’t a string of random numbers, but the single triangle he’d programmed in all those years ago. “That is not yours. Who are you?”
And that was how Emmet was introduced to the fact that Ingo was missing-- pokeballs and Xtransceiver left scattered in a side street for a random passerby to discover.
The question of what had happened redoubled in his mind, and he couldn’t go out and find answers, not like this. He couldn’t even visit the precinct to recover Chandelure and Garbodor. The thought smoldered, just as [keen] as the tension igniting on his palate.
He was only just recognizing the gaping void at his back, and he knew without further question that his current state hadn’t been a matter of harmless excitement. Something had happened to his brother, and he had slept through it. His twin was gone and he hadn’t noticed.
Furious with himself, but unable to lose any more family, Emmet’s shaking claws selected his next contact.
---
Elesa was worried, and it had only intensified the more she got involved. The first clue had been Emmet’s refusal to turn video calls on when he’d contacted her, forcing her to interpret his [anxiety] through the lens of word choice and sentence structure. It got substantially worse when she reached the eastern precinct and realized that Chandelure and Garbodor were actually secure in their pokeballs.
When she’d been asked to pick them up, she’d half expected them loose, separated from their trainer by a series of unavoidable coincidences, and finding that it wasn’t the case sent a spike of trepidation through her. The feeling solidified into dread as she was informed that, “The Xtransceiver is still considered evidence, so unfortunately I can’t return it to you.”
She’d nodded, lost and numb, as the officer continued on, explaining what Pokemon they were bringing out and the process for psychic tracking in missing persons cases.
It didn’t make sense; she’d seen Ingo just that morning. They’d chatted briefly about [idk] before getting their respective drink orders and splitting off for the day. That was only a few hours ago-- there was no way he could have vanished in that amount of time, was there?
Distantly, she recognized that Emmet hadn’t breathed a word about this, that he hadn’t already been there, which meant he didn’t know. If the officer had told him about Chandelure and Garbodor, why had she left the investigation out? Did it mean Elesa had to be the one to break the news?
One trembling hand tightened around Chandelure’s pokeball as she scaled the last set of stairs leading to the twins’ apartment, and she came to the [idk] conclusion that she didn’t know. She didn’t know how to even approach the subject. She didn’t know if she could get the words out.
For all of the fear already swirling in her, a new sour tinge was introduced as she knocked without an immediate answer.
“Emmet?” She called [feebly], trying again, and [idk] at the hesitant response that met her. “I have Chandelure and Garbodor. L-listen, there’s--”
“Something you should know.” Came muffled through the door, and she could’ve cried in relief if it hadn’t been for the anger that twisted into the [idk] of emotion settled in her core. He’d known? And he hadn’t told her?
He said something else, but she missed it, too consumed with the extremes warring for dominance-- and when the door clicked open, she didn’t wait. She barged in and rounded on her friend, unsure what exactly she was going to say, but knowing she had to get it out before it exploded in her chest. In the end, neither of those things happened. She ended up staring, lips parted in silent [?], as she tried to parse the sight in front of her.
“Yes. Well.” Said what was either Emmet or Reshiram, looking awkwardly to the side as he pushed the door shut and spent a few seconds longer than strictly necessary locking it.
Elesa released the death grip she had on the two pokeballs and transferred Chandelure’s to her opposite hand, gesturing wordlessly toward the humanoid mass of white fluff.
“This is what I need to speak with you about.”
Caught between such sentiments as ‘what the hell, dude’ and ‘what happened to you’, the only syllable to escape Elesa was a dumbfounded, “What.”
Emmet ignored it entirely in favor of taking Chandelure and Garbodor back; the latter he released without hesitation, but the former he rolled gently between his palms, expression calculating. Eventually, he sighed and stilled his hands, wrapping them gently around the capsule.
Garbodor, Elesa couldn’t help but notice, afforded him a brief, albeit confused, look and warbled [idk]. It was answered by a hushed, “I am fine. It doesn’t hurt.”
The poison type tapped her fingers together as she scanned the room, and crooned again.
“I am… uncertain. Not here.”
Aside from the initial once-over, there hadn’t been any shock or hesitation in Garbodor’s response; more to the point, that had been a direct response to an entirely incomprehensible question.
“Did you understand that?” Elesa asked, momentarily distracted from her [distress] by the sheer absurdity of what was going on before her.
Emmet hummed a mild affirmative and went back to staring at Chandelure’s pokeball, eager to keep his eyes on something that wasn’t staring back, “Yep. That is not new. We have understood them for several years.”
Helpless to formulate another response, Elesa fell back on her earlier [idk] of, “What?”
[…]
“I have been like this all afternoon. I have been Reshiram for a substantially longer time.”
---
Emmet was well aware that some history lived on only through folklore passed down in families. Much of their own [family’s] [lore] was oral tradition, told time and time again until each generation could recite it word for word, neither truth nor ideal warping with the passing of time; somehow, though, it had never occurred to him that he might find his answers in the meticulously curated history of a private practice.
The exact path he took to reach the terminal was a long and convoluted one, but half of pursuing truth was the refusal to back down and, ultimately, his determination landed him at the doorstep of the original Sinnohan settlers.
In this particular matter, his appearance only smoothed the way, and it wasn’t so much longer before he found himself handling the edges of a weathered photograph. Under different circumstances, the ancient Sneasel it depicted would have been an object of great fascination. For now, however, Emmet couldn’t care less. His eyes stayed affixed to the figure beside it, gauging the contrast between crisp black scales and dark, worn fabric.
Even beneath the veneer of Zekrom, Ingo looked incredibly tired.
It was both a relief and a[n ?] to finally have confirmation that his brother had been affected just as he had. [Relief] in that he wasn’t alone in this, that he wouldn’t be the sole reason they couldn’t match-- but [?] for how Ingo might have been received because of it. He’d been lucky enough to remain in Unova, where people already recognized and trusted him-- or at least his skill, and the [idk] that Reshiram represented. It was difficult to imagine starting anew without so much as a human face.
[...]
The Gliscor, however, was a surprise. Excadrill, Haxorus, Crustle and Archeops had been their friends since childhood-- well before the both of them inherited the dragons’ type vulnerabilities-- and had long since earned their trust. Gigalith had been a somewhat more recent acquisition, but knowing the circumstances meant that they could impress upon it how imperative it was to [idk]. As much as the Pokemon played into their little game of Collateral Damage Earthquake, they took great pains to ensure nobody was actually hurt.
Undoubtedly, the Gliscor would also be trained to his brother’s exacting standards, but paranoia pinged at Emmet regardless. The Clan’s stories implied that Ingo’s memory was woefully incomplete. How much did he understand about himself? Did he know the threat an untrained Mud-Bomb posed to him? It was common sense that you wanted to avoid being hit with a move, if at all possible, but knowing the stakes was an important part of [???]. Despite the perks of this in-between state, they lacked the null typing of other humans and the resilience of natural-born Pokemon, which made super effective moves a threat worth paying attention to.
---
At this altitude, the Coronet Highlands weren’t blanketed in snow, but it was a very near thing. The mountain, not so far off, was draped in a mantle of white, and the chill resounded, even through Emmet’s fur. Occasionally a few flakes would fall from the cloud cover above, melting as soon as they landed on his person, but even when the icy water managed to seep down through his undercoat, it barely warranted a twitch of the nose. Cold only went skin deep when one was a fire type.
He huffed in irritation, exhaling a [cloud] of steam as [idk], and tried not to focus on the matter of type advantages; it had been bad enough slogging through the [idk] of the Alabaster Icelands, imagining what the trip might have been like without an internal pilot light to burn away the worst of it. Though lacking any true resistance, he’d been able to endure. He didn’t need to dwell on how it might have felt with a full-blown vulnerability.
The Highlands were better, at least. Still cold. Still overcast. Honestly, now that Emmet was here to judge the circumstance himself, he surprised to hear how active his twin had been according to the folklore. Between the cold and the lack of sunlight, any self-respecting, non-fire-type dragon would be three paces away from hibernation. There had been Nimbasan winters where Emmet had been on constant [idk] duty just to chase off the threat of torpor, and those days were mild in comparison.
Silently, he resolved to [reclaim] the [duty? Responsibility?] once he tracked Ingo down. He didn’t care how ridiculous it looked, he was going to drape himself over his brother either until the scales radiated his own warmth back at him, or something physically pried him off. It was entirely possible that both conditions would need to be met before considered it.
[...]
Despite being a single vocalization, there were layers to the word, leaving him uncertain what he really heard.
“...Emmet?”
“...Reshiram?”
When it came down to it, it didn’t matter which one was uttered to the world at large. The underlying message was there, and it was… so much more than Emmet could have hoped for. Ingo had never seen him like this, and had no memory of him from before, but something still shone through. Truth, perhaps, stoked by its avatar’s presence? Or maybe Ideals, finally cracking the ice?
“I am both! Yep!”
[...]
While there was a beat of confusion, it was very much not hesitation, and he automatically moved to accommodate. It was one thing to have his other half again, to finally see that aching void stitched shut. It was something else entirely to hold his brother for the first time in years. There was no doubt which took precedence-- because yes, he was Reshiram now, but he’d been Emmet first.
[...]
“You’re so warm.” He said with a strange intensity, like the concept had never occurred to him before.
[...]
He would grant the Pearl Clan this much: they had certainly tried to combat the cold on Ingo’s behalf. The tunic was thicker than he’d given it credit for-- better at retaining heat-- and someone had gone to the trouble of tailoring it to accommodate wings without leaving it open to the elements. Between that effort, the much-abused greatcoat, and what he could spot of the long sleeved undershirt, it was a decent layer of protection. Not nearly enough, but likely the best they could have done under the circumstances.
---
“Ah,” He said in a voice so small Emmet almost didn’t recognize it as being Ingo’s, “Then our current state is my fault. I’m… very sorry to have caused the [trouble/inconvenience].”
Emmet stared at him for several seconds, and then grabbed him by the face, just to drive home how seriously he was taking this. “Do not apologize. It happened because you refused to be taken without a fight. Even if it was unable to prevent [idk] in that moment, it was a worthy ideal.”

I accept your offer, it’s great fanart lol. Given how popular the twins are, especially in Japan, the twitters for Bulbapedia and Pokémon like memeing what happened to Ingo every few months. So I guess I serve as a reminder. I myself have my own sad headcanons and due to multiverse being canon, technically any idea we have is canon in one of the worlds(like diner Ingo).
My first sad headcanon was Chandelure pulling a Hachiko, the loyal Japanese Akita who waited around 9 years at the train station his owner would come back from work on after his owner passed away. Just Chandelure staying by the Singles Line even though she knows Ingo isn’t emerging. Another was my thought that they wouldn’t have a perfect happy reunion ending but Emmet would get closure. Like Ingo’s ghost appearing at either Celestial Tower or Gear Station, most likely still having choppy memories but being pulled here because of that feeling. He could be a side quest ghost like the trainer school girl or vessa, a plot twist where at first it looked like he made it home but hen it’s revealed he’s a ghost, or even a Pokémon fight like Marowak(be it fighting him, Emmet, or even Ingo fighting alongside Emmet a final time) but any form ending with him being put to rest(unless you are that one dream I had where he stayed as a worker but his model was growing purple still) while Emmet gets closure, finally knowing what happened to Ingo while being comforted by him being at peace so he move forward himself.
Then there’s the fan favorite Yamask theory. Yamask’s dex entries go on about how it “game from a bygone age,” how it “is searching for someone who recognizes its face.” There’s also the mask having the constant frown, debuting in Unova, and little things like this line from Ingo: “it must be difficult being a Pokémon, don’t you think? Especially one as irritable as Electrode.” Or his ace being a ghost type(their aces types are supposed to represent the dragons. Ingo has fire for Reshiram since it’s the older brother who had truth, and Emmet has electric for Zekrom. Why they have opposite colors is because they are the circles inside yin and Yang, but because of it people tend to put Ingo with Zekrom and Emmet with Reshiram. But now that Ingo is centuries in the past, that ghost type is making sense now lol) or how Gamefreak likes showing some on the dex entries in the story like Cubone, Hypno, or Guzzlord. So the theory states that Ingo dies in the past and comes back as a Yamask, possibly appearing as one in the remakes(Cofagrigus is confirmed to forget its former life completely upon evolution, so everstone him) and having a lot of fanart on tumble and Twitter. What can I say, Gamefreak opened itself up to angst
Ah. I must admit I have seen the Yamask thing going around before, but I think that more than a theory it was just someone's AU that got a lot of traction bc, well. Angst. The submas fandom so loves its angst. Besides, you said it yourself. The Cofagrigus forgets all about its human life, so...
Altho, wasn't the Celestial tower's bell meant to let the spirits rest? Just, picture Emmet after they finally confirm Ingo as dead and he goes there to ring the bell, symbolizing the end of his grief (kinda), his determination to keep going even now when Ingo's not around, and Ingo's spirit/ghost being able to finally move on because it was due to Emmet that he was still lingering around.
Ah, so bittersweet, so sad. Darn.

Okay unhinged omegaverse posting time but….I’ve for sure thought about what a dystopian omegaverse AU would look like for this verse (basically omegas are getting the short end of the stick in society. “Misogynistic” route, so to speak). And while it’s pretty easy with Gen 1-4 since protags so young that “arranged marriage” to a not-terrible partner is how I often run things (as ships are all presumably the same(ish) as Mainverse), it’s 5-6 that are always tricky to work with. Since protags are old enough they would be going through their heats and probably would have a matebond in the works. Per how I headcanon things.
So! My thoughts on Hilbert/N and the mess that could be. Hilbert would he promised away to some guy. No canon character fits in my head so just some older alpha guy OC. But not Cheren since would need to be an alpha so beta Cheren it out of the running. But something something in this route Hilbert hasn’t quite gone through his first heat yet (which is typically the time bonding would be arranged in these “arranged marriages”). So Hilbert is traveling around for one last hurrah before married life it is. But he would end up going into heat for the first time in Chargestone Cave while N is around and things get out of hand (obviously) and bam. They sleep together since can’t hold back (not like Hilbert actually likes the guy he’s promised to). Easy to give into the guy he’s actually attracted to. Matebond time (RIP the Shadow Triad kinda just lurking and not having the gumption to stop things tho. Even tho you know Ghetsis said they better intervene if N tries to hook up with some troublesome omega). Like in theory, Hilbert was suppose to call up his betrothed once he could tell he was going into heat and get things sorted out with him. But since he never liked the guy…
On N’s end, I headcanon that the con of Ghetsis keeping him so isolated is that he’s initially more susceptible to omegaverse nonsense since has no built up tolerance. It’s one thing if it’s an omega he doesn’t know. Can resist enough to flee the area. But when faced when someone he’s attracted to…his feelings overwhelm him.
I do think it would make kind of a mess of the plot and N leaving at the end would be extra cruel. But would for sure explain why Hilbert leaves to find him. Would not actually make N back down though. Would instead push him further towards the idea that Hilbert will join his side after he defeats him. Will still need to fulfill their roles as opposing heroes in the short term. But will be together in the end, as the twin heroes were always meant to be one (going with the idea Kyurem was originally the three dragons as one). Even in non-dystopian Mainverse I tend to view it that in the back of his mind, N kind of assumes he and Hilbert will get together in the end once he defeats Hilbert. Hero dragons were meant to be one, afterall. But the feeling is more pronounced in this version of events.
My gut reaction to the idea was actually that they would just disappear together after the main plot of BW. Hilbert had fucked up the life he was suppose to lead (disgraced omega) and since they’re bonded, the two are tied together. Would be painful to abandon each other. So when N makes his whole speech thing about leaving, Hilbert grabs his hand and asks to go with him. And they disappear together. No one sure what exactly went down during that final confrontation with the heads of Team Plasma, as no one remains behind to tell the tale.
As for how this would effect BW2, I have less thoughts on that, but maybe Hilbert is with child or recently given birth to his and N’s first child, thus why he wouldn’t show up and only N does, once word of Team Plasma resurgence gets out. Boy on maternity leave (ignoring how I don’t actually think this would stop Hilbert from getting involved. Boy could be in his third trimester and is still gonna throw hands with Ghetsis). Nate/Hugh are easy to deal with though since are just another “happily arranged marriage” where Hugh isn’t opposed to Nate going on a journey despite being at the age heat/rut are just starting to affect them both (can continue my Gen 5 parallels Gen 1 agenda since that’s how I deal with Red/Green as well. Happily arranged marriage duo who travel at the same time so the alpha can be close by on the off chance the omega goes into heat). So Nate/Hugh would def have to deal with that during their travels. Like maybe Hilbert would show up post canon to talk with Nate (since wants to meet this guy in person who N seems to like) and Nate is kinda shocked since was not expecting to meet the hero of Unova despite all the stuff he did for the region. And then it turns out the region's hero is already expecting/has had a child!! A bit inspiring, perhaps. How being an omega with a mate doesn't stop Hilbert from being kickass when the going gets tough.

I would be fascinated in any ideas you had about how the hunt for Aang would go with 'good parent Ozai' AU!
Ask and ye shall receive! (@tiktokonaclock, here’s that part two you asked about). This continues from where I left off in part 1.
At first, Ozai says no. He has good reason to do so, Zuko is the Crown Prince, should he and Azula die then he will be heirless— he doesn’t know if Ursa would be able to bear another child, nor does he wish for another. In a less logical way, his mind protests because that is his son. Sixteen, yes, but still very much a child. That isn’t even the age of conscription.
He knows that the Avatar is a child, Commander Zhao’s report said that he appeared to be twelve, travelling with two other children that were closer to Azula’s age. He knows that his children make a formidable pair, he has no doubt that, together, they could be able to take on entire battalions of soldiers.
They are his children and they are Ursa’s children. How could he just let them go out to face an enemy such as the Avatar?
Zuko has Ozai’s charisma and awkwardness (as they come together, though few remember the way the Fire Lord used to stumble over his words as a teenager). Zuko looks so much like his father that sometimes older servants even refer to him by his name. But Zuko is equal parts his mother. He has his mother’s kinder nature, and he has her drive. Ursa’s persistence is one of the only reasons the Fire Nation is flourishing as it is now. Ozai knows that it had been suffering near the end of his father’s rule, he knows that he is an amazing military leader, just as he knows that it is better to leave his wife in charge of the majority of domestic policies.
It is that persistence combined with Azula’s carefully crafted wording that she also got from her mother that makes both Ozai and Ursa cave and give permission for their children to hunt the Avatar. Sometimes, Ozai wonders if his life would be easier if he didn’t love his family so much.
Zuko and Azula leave the Fire Nation together. Zuko is sixteen and looks the very image of a Crown Prince, even if a few hairs escape his top knot and fall across his face. Azula is fourteen and looks every bit the Princess she is. A single hair escapes it’s place and she leaves it be. She would not dare call attention to imperfections, just as Ozai himself wouldn’t. He is full of pride as he watches his children board the ship (the second newest design, as advanced as possible while having already been tested. He would not let untested technology take his children from him permanently). Captain Jee stands on the deck, greeting them. Apparently he had been demoted from his position at some point for assaulting an Admiral.
(He remembers the day he discovered the Captain’s existence well. Zuko had been eleven and helping him look over military documentation that had been sent to him to approve. One of such documents had been Jee’s demotion to lieutenant.
“I remember him. He was Lu Ten’s friend.” He heard his son mumble as he touched the included portrait of Jee. Closer examination showed that it had been drawn by his nephew himself. His son had loved his cousin, and he was not against doing things to make him happy. If Jee was loyal to Lu Ten, it only meant he would be more likely to be loyal to Zuko.
“I will have him transferred to the palace guard.”)
He proved to be honourable in the guard and had quickly been promoted back to captain after Ozai heard the true reasoning of the assault through Zuko’s horrified voice. He himself cared little for the affairs of military officers, but if it made his son happy to sign the papers for the Admiral’s dishonourable discharge and imprisonment, so be it.
That action had only solidified Jee’s loyalty to his son (and by extension, his daughter).
Now, I’m conflicted on whether or not Iroh would go with them. I’m leaning toward yes. Neither of them have been hurt by their father, but Zuko is still the most naturally kindhearted person in the royal family and he is destined to be Fire Lord. Azula has more empathy than she does in canon (although that’s not saying much), I doubt Iroh would comment that she’s “crazy and needs to go down”. After all, Ozai loves both his children here. That means that he doesn’t intentionally harm their mental health, nor does he encourage competition between them. They both want to make both their parents proud. If nothing else, Iroh would go with them so that he could stop them.
Thus, shortly after the Crown Prince and Princess of the Fire Nation step onto the ship, the Dragon of the West follows. It is filled with the best of the Fire Nation to seek the only bender of all four elements.
A stark contrast to canon, no?
The hunt progresses somewhat like in canon, though not. Lo and Li instruct further Zuko and Azula in lightning bending.
(“Only a hair out of place, Princess Azula.”
“That means I shall achieve perfection soon.”)
Iroh takes over his nephew and niece’s firebending training, though Azula is a master in her own right and Zuko is nearly a master as well. He forces them back to their basics.
Zuko yells and stomps and Iroh is reminded of his brother at the same age, back before his brother became the monster he is now. The same brother he sees glimpses of when Ozai is alone with his wife and children, the same brother that he sees none of in the Fire Lord. Azula is silent and moves to do her basics without complaint. She unnerves him, but he still loves her.
He loves them both. And he loves what remains of his brother in Ozai, even if he would choose the balance of the world over the Fire Lord in an instant.
They visit Admiral Zhao first. He declares that he has already captured the Avatar and that he would be more than willing to transfer his prisoner onto the royal family’s better equipped ship.
The siblings visit the chained Avatar. Zhao speaks of what he plans to do.
That is the thing about Ozai loving his children. Loving them means protecting them from certain cruelties, at least more than he did in canon. Zuko and Azula both see the Avatar, only twelve, and Zhao’s words overlap with Azulon’s orders to their father when Lu Ten dies. After all, Zuko had been only a year younger then.
That night, the Blue Spirit and the Dragon Emperor break the Avatar out of the stronghold with dual dao and twin daggers as the Prince and Princess sleep in their luxurious cabins. If that isn’t completely the truth, no one says anything to suggest as such. The Blue Spirit is knocked out by an arrow to the forehead. The Dragon Emperor does not allow the Avatar to remove the mask.
(“How did you not see that coming, Zuzu?”
“In my defence, you were supposed to be watching my back while I pulled the Avatar away.”)
They meet the Avatar’s companions briefly before the Emperor gestures to the rising sun and they disappear.
It is only after the escape of the Avatar that Iroh begins to consider the siblings further.
They pen a letter to their father.
Ozai reads between the lines and wonders, just once, if perhaps he had sheltered his children from the reality of war too much. He does not wonder again because he knows the alternative would have been far worse.
Instead, Ozai speaks with his wife. Ursa is a complex woman, but the Avatar is the reincarnation of her grandfather and she has an actress’s mind (and thus she has a politician’s mind).
As their children chase the Avatar, the Fire Lord and Lady put their own plan into motion. Canon Ozai may be content to lay all responsibility on his children, but this Ozai is actually a decent dad.
The siblings are free to enter Fire Nation territory as they wish and have no reason to sneak into the temple, even still they do. They watch as a Fire Sage, one of the highest religious authorities in the Fire Nation, disobeys the Fire Lord to help the Avatar.
Zuko’s quick fingers undo the water tribe boy’s restraints as Azula’s undo the girl’s. They share playful smirks, after all, neither of them are in any danger. They are a powerful team and they have their father’s unwavering support.
(“Why did you just untie us?”
“Zhao’s a dick.”)
Avatar Roku emerges in place of Avatar Aang. He pauses in front of the children, the girl that has Rina’s smile, the boy that has her hair (his own hair), always trying to escape from its confines.
They do not waver. They do, however, run when the Avatar begins to destroy the temple.
The siblings believe the Fire Nation is the greatest in the world. They believe that it is their duty to spread their glory to the other nations. But, late at night, taking tea together, they consider that perhaps Fire Lord Sozin went about it in the wrong way.
(Great-grandfather says hi, Ursa reads aloud from their children’s letter. Not for the first time, Ozai regrets sending his children on such a dangerous mission. He knew that Avatar Roku had been spotted on Crescent Island, he knew that he had blown up the temple. How close had his children come to being blown up?)
The Avatar sets course for Omashu. The siblings make a stop in the Fire Nation while they’re nearby. They have a friend to pick up.

Hello! I’m a big fan of your blog and I’ve got a question for you. Consider an AU where Daemon Blackfyre is born from Aegon IV having an affair with Rhaena rather than Daena, how do you think he’d turn out? I’m curious on your thoughts as to how having a different parentage might change Daemon.
Hello! I’m glad you’re enjoying reading my blog :)
The scenario you propose is one I haven’t thought of because Rhaena is far and away the least developed of the Targaryen characters of her generation. I’m not going to say “she would never have an affair” because as it stands most of the information on her is from semi- or non-canon sources: the 2006 SSM and the MUSH RPG tree that reveals she was the sister Daeron I betrothed to the Sealord of Braavos. She gets about one and a half sentences to herself in The World of Ice and Fire, which itself contradicts some of the information in the SSM: the SSM states that she never chafed at her confinement whereas twoiaf says she protested Baelor’s Maidenvault along with her sisters; depending on which one is true (for obvious reasons, I prefer the universe where she doesn’t agree with being imprisoned for a decade), leads to vastly different interpretations of the character. We know more about Rhaena’s breast size (that they were fuller than Daena’s at 14; thanks a lot, George) than her interactions with her siblings and cousins. All we know for sure is that she was pious and became a septa later in life.
The question is then whether Rhaena would still become a septa if she had a child, or be like Elaena and have to leave him behind (it’s nearly impossible from what we know about illegitimate children of noblewomen that Elaena brought Jon and Jeyne Waters with her to Plumm lands). If Rhaena did become a septa soon after Daemon’s birth and Aegon’s ascension, and left him as a baby to be raised by Daena (as I think might’ve happened with the Waters twins), then perhaps not much would change: Daemon is still raised mostly by the Targaryen-loving Daena, who probably encouraged his athletic pursuits, and spends time training with master-at-arms and Aegon IV’s ally, Quentyn Ball.
Daemon might’ve felt unloved by Rhaena in the “why didn’t she stay with me?” sense that some of the illegitimate children feel in asoiaf (thinking about Jon Snow’s fantasies of his “beautiful, highborn, kind-eyed” mother, and he had a decently happy childhood in Winterfell). Since in canon Baelor starved himself to death "in penance” for Daena’s child, switching the sister to Rhaena could have devastating psychological effects for the both of them, since the SSM implies she and Baelor were close (that her piety was influenced by Baelor, and even twoiaf compares her piety to his); a plausible scenario could be Rhaena joining a motherhouse and leaving her child as a form of penance, as she blames herself for Baelor’s death.
Without Daena’s loving act of self-sacrifice by refusing to name the father at the cost of her reputation, and instead an absent mother mourning the death of her jailer “Baelor the Beloved”, Daemon might’ve even felt unwanted despite Daena’s best efforts (again, thinking of Jon Snow, who still internalized the “bastard prejudices” despite having a loving father and half-siblings). So perhaps a Daemon-son-of-absentee Rhaena is a little sadder, more jaded from early childhood, and less willing to get hurt reaching out to abrasive family members (by which I mean Aegor and Brynden Rivers).
But supposing Rhaena does put off becoming a septa to raise her son (and you could argue that sewing the Mother’s face on her clothing indicates that, like Aelinor Penrose, she did want children) and successfully opposes Viserys and Aegon’s attempts to marry her off (as Daena did. GRRM’s SSM says Rhaena was “meek and passive”, but I’m going with the twoiaf version that stands up for her freedom). Considering what happened to Falena Stokeworth at Viserys II’s hands for daring to have sex with Aegon IV, I’ll assume that she refuses to name Aegon IV as the father.
A Daemon raised by Rhaena at King’s Landing would perhaps be more openly interested in fashion; Rhaena loved to sew and embroider, and I could see him taking an interest in this because his mother was and encouraged him. We’re not sure how pious Daemon was in canon (although according to his supporters, he was blessed by the Seven), but as Rhaena’s child he might be more so, and might’ve wanted to serve the Warrior’s Sons instead of the Kingsguard as a boy. It might even be possible that as in the real-life example of Princess Rotrude daughter of Charlemagne and her illegitimate son Louis, that he could’ve followed Rhaena into the Faith and become part of a guard for a particularly high-ranking Septon.
However, I don’t think this Daemon’s new interests would have made Aegon stop being interested in him, especially after Aegor and Brynden proved to be “unsuitable heirs”; and I don’t think they would’ve endeared the grudge-prone Da3ron II to him either. So I don’t think their schemes regarding Daemon would’ve changed.
What I think the most important change in Daemon’s character would be having Rhaena as a mother is that he’s introduced earlier on to the Targaryen legacy is not a shining ideal to protect. Rhaena is the only known Targaryen to have abandoned their name for a higher calling by choice, rather than being given to the Faith or Citadel by her parents or married off (although they technically are still part of the Targaryen House) or forced to run away. Most of the Targaryen women are proud to be born of the house of “fire and blood” and dragons, but unlike Daena and even Elaena, Rhaena did not have any explicit connection to that legacy. Daemon knowing that his mother could’ve become a septa and give up her name, seeing her honoring the Mother and the Maiden over Rhaenys and Visenya, having her tell him tales of the Warriors’ Sons over those of brave Targaryen warriors, would have radically changed his idea of who the Targaryens are. With that he might be more open to criticism of Targaryen brutality and egotism, at least with regards to burning septs and trying to rewrite the laws of the Faith to suit their own ends (Jaehaerys and the Doctrine of Exceptionalism allowing incest, Baelor’s misogynist laws on chastity and moving the Faith’s capital to King’s Landing where they became a tool of the Targaryens). That might result in a Daemon that doesn’t hold onto Blackfyre and his sigil as symbols of identity and strength, but the chivalric code and Faith precepts. That might have serious political implications if the reason why he rebelled (if rebel he did, and wasn’t just arrested based on a rumor) had something to do with Aegon IV and Da3ron II making a mockery of the Targaryen legacy as related to him by Daena.
tl;dr depending on whether or not Rhaena was there to raise him, I think were she his mother Daemon may have been more wary of the Targaryens as a family and his place among them as an illegitimate prince. He may have cultivated different interests that Rhaena encouraged, and might have been more outwardly serious and guarded at court. Whether that meant he’d be less popular or less effective in combat is anyone’s guess, but I don’t think Aegon’s plans and Da3ron II’s counter-plans for him would’ve changed much.

Stories you want to write...
...but for some reason haven’t yet.
tagged by @dragons-bones! thank you DT! [dusts off my inspo doc]
1.) i really need to finish the “trial fic,” or The One Where Hanami Gets Arrested For Murder. like, i need to write the actual trial, the events of which were referenced in my ffxivwrite fill “alber,” but i’m most excited to write the follow-up, wherein hanami gets to have a lot of juicy conversations with edmont and lucia and aymeric--just not all at once.
2.) i also want to write (but at the same time really do not want to write) the fic wherein hanami has a terrible horrible no good very bad time after the doman refugees arrive in eorzea, gets blackout drunk, and runs into g’raha tia. it (along with the fact that she figured out who was under the exarch hood about three minutes after arriving in norvrandt, because she may not act like it, but she’s very people-smart and has an excellent memory) shapes a lot of her shadowbringers experiences, particularly after mt. gulg.
2a.) related, but square should have made the twinning a trust dungeon with the exarch and lyna and if they won’t give it to me i’ll do it my damn self. someday. maybe.
3.) the blackest night was always meant to be a standalone one-shot, and then the idea for the branded dawn took me out at the kneecaps, and now it’s shaping up to be a five-part series that i’ve been picking away at. part three is about halfway done, part four sort of has an outline, and part five just lives in my head at the moment. but if you like dark knight things, aymeric things, or any combination thereof, hopefully you’ll enjoy those!
4.) the obligatory ‘hanami reunites with aymeric post-5.3′ fic. there will be tears! there will be lots of tender face-touching! they will probably end up curled up on a bed at some point because i have a disease called wanting them to take a damn nap!
5.) hanami is on the bozjan southern front and she really is not happy about it, but since hien very politely volun-told haruki to go as a representative of doma, she’s not about to let her baby brother waltz into a war zone by himself. originally this was just going to be an excuse for her to be a new flavor of grumpy, but since rng was kind to me and i got the gabriel mount i want to find a way to make it a canon mount for her now. maybe she looted it from the castrum? i just want her to have an actual canon mount that can fly, for once, because she doesn’t own chocobos, and her ‘g-bike’ is ground-only.
6.) AU things! i’m almost finished with a prompt response for jayne that goes into hanami and aymeric’s respective Obligatory Tragic TTRPG Backstories in my starfinder au. i’m also saving the remainder of my princess bride au for a rainy day, because it’s goofy and requires very little brainpower. plus i am drafting a long-form fic for a lightning returns au, which i may or may not ever finish (i am bad at longfic), and which...might not be everyone’s cup of tea, mostly because one of my major gripes with lr is that the way lightning “saves” people in the cinematic opening and in gameplay vary wildly. this au has her “saving” people the cinematic way, hence: a lot of major character death. (but not perma-death...probably!)
7.) [this is mildly not-worksafe, mostly for lowbrow humor; continue at your own discretion] i have a subsection in my ideas doc for smutfic, most of which i will probably never write just because it’s not something i feel compelled to do more than once in a blue moon, but the note summaries are kind of hilarious. highlights include “satisfied (nobility obliges remix): aymeric tr(eats) his girl right 😏” (emoji kept intact) and “they wine. they dine. they have a surprisingly good conversation about sexual boundaries and safe practices. and then they FUCK”
there’s more but if i went over every wip or wistful god-i-wish-i-had-time-to-write-this idea i’d be here all day, so: tagging @efrmellifer @windupnamazu @fistsoflightning @safflowerlizard @aethernoise AND anyone else who wants to do it! please tag me, i love reading fic rambles. (and sorry if i double-tagged you!)

Welcome to Blackwood Pines Sanatorium and Spa Resort! + About The Blog and Mun
Welcome! This RP blog has been in the works for,,, well over a year now based on how I accidentally reblogged an aesthetic post over a year ago. Oops. But with the short and sweet Gordon-centric one-shot intro I am finally ready to do something with it! The Inpatient still holds my brain deep in its grasp and I’m willing and able after a turbulent year to finally do something about it. Hence expressing my love for it in roleplay form!
Meet The Twins
Though never featured simultaneously, both Gordon and Anna are integral parts of the player’s focus during their stay at the sanatorium, this (and just my love and intrigue of them as characters in their own right) is why I’ve made this joint account to put myself in their shoes and grow their stories.
My personal headcannon despite their quite separate existences, is that they are fraternal twins, with Gordon being the older sibling by minutes. Their personalities and quotes are just different enough for them not to just be copy-pasted characters of different genders, but also similar enough to imply closeness. One could say they are spouses, and that is also super valid, just not the way I choose to roleplay them. Particularly since I headcannon Gordon as gay.
Most of the basis I have for this blog is centered around a timeline where Gordon was trapped in the cell with the inpatient player character and became the one infected by the curse. Where it diverges, though, is that Anna was also one of the survivors and she was able to come back in time to save him from full transformation. This leaves him partly mutilated, nearly invincible, and stuck with the wendigo spirit inside his head lest it be released to torment or doom another person. Hence the name: Wendigordon. (Clever, right?)
However, that’s merely a skeleton of my own creation and not some strict canon. So whether these two are trapped on a mountain in 1952, in high school/college with the other Until Dawn kids, or in some wild, dragon-filled fantasy setting with who knows what to face, I am excited for it all! Maybe they’re interacting with one of their old colleagues before the events of the game? Maybe there’s a timeline where Gordon was killed by the inpatient and now Anna has to deal with her grief and learn to forgive? I don’t know, the possibilities are endless!
Whether you are a seasoned roleplayer with tons of OCs, a UD roleplayer who’s been dying for more threads as the community has shrunk, or someone with zero experience who’s been wanting to roleplay as an Inpatient character I welcome you one and all!
About the Blog:
I tag each post with their related character, whether it be threads of aesthetic posts I make/reblog to make things a tad more organized. Anybody I have a thread with will also be tagged in the threads we share as well.
Understanding that the UD fandom is much smaller than it used to be and the need for these two characters is small, I’m very malleable about AUs and backstories. The bios I have in mind for both the characters are merely defaults and basic skeletons for them to start with!
Communication is key! If I as a mun, or these muses as characters, do something you are uncomfortable with, please do not hesitate to shoot me a message and I will either explain why such a thing happened, or I’ll learn how to handle this blog better! This also goes for certain things that may need to be tagged. I will try to be proactive for triggers and such, but if there is something I do not cover, please tell me.
All NSFW will be tagged accordingly, and there will be zero smut threads with minors. There are so many non-sexual/non-romantic thread ideas and starters so I look forward to roleplaying with as many people as possible no matter their age - but for any smut themed thread, you will need to be 18+.
This is a multi-ship account, and most separate relationships will be treated as if they are in separate universes.
I do have an Inpatient OC who may be referenced in tagging or aesthetics, but he will be largely uninvolved unless someone wishes for me to include him as a character I play.
Disclaimer of course that my use of the W word is in no way meant to be offensive as I understand its sacredness and the discomfort it can give to people. Seeing as the game and its whole theme rests upon this creature and the lore surrounding it, however, it is very hard to avoid. My apologies. ♥
About The Mun:
I have plenty of years of RP experience, with preference for paragraph-style roleplay. I’m far from a fancy roleplay blogger and I don’t do anything strenuous with fonts or icons - I’m just here for fun and to hone my writing. I can be very nervous when talking to someone new, but getting to know my roleplay partners and plotting stuff is one of my favorite parts of the hobby, so please don’t be shy! (If you’re shy and I’m shy then who’s flying the plane, you know??!!)

true canon: an explanation
True Canon is set in a typical High Fantasy D&D ye olden age world, with monsters and magic and dragons galore. It started out focused entirely on Eve and Viktor and a few others’ travels through a country called Witherhurst, and as we made more characters and stories and kingdoms, we expanded the scope of WotOG (the original D&D game) to cover all of them, until we had a nice world built up around the characters. Since not all of the stories related to the events of WotOG (and WotOG part 2: Electric Boogaloo), we decided to change the name to True Canon, so we knew which universe for sure was the foundation upon which our Many AU’s Stand. Here’s a quick n dirty timeline, for reference:
(much more under the cut)
-Eve, Viktor, and a few others that aren’t relevant to the story travel around Witherhurst on a job or something from a lady who’s Definitely Not Important At All (Her name is Prenella). At some point Prenella ditches the party and they’re stuck without a cleric for a while
-They make it to a big city, and through shenanigans that include travelling the city for fun and also almost dying to a pack of rabid dogs, Eve convinces Intem to join the party.
-Eve, Vik, and now Intem (plus one more pc) unravel a cult plot, something about the end of the world, blah blah nothing really important there. They end up taking out the cult and fighting Prenella, the cult’s leader, who also happens to be a dragon. Neat.
-After that horrifying ordeal, the party reconvenes and decides, ‘fuck it, let’s go find a new place to travel together’ and thus board a ship that they then steal from the captain (after Intems “pet” eats said captain).
-So begins the few years the party spends as pirates.
-Things happen, they end up fighting an eldritch god for world-ending rights, and go on their merry way.
- Intem falls into the role of reluctant (but no less ruthless) pirate captain, with vik as his first mate and eve as navigator (despite the fact that she can’t read. they figure it out)
-This is around the time Intem goes from lilac-haired sunshine boy to disgruntled cynic who’s Done With Your Shit, Viktor.
-Eventually the crew docks, and picks up Therai and Pippin for a while. Eve also brings up the idea of reviving Vik’s old travelling companion, Dante (two bros, chillin in a tavern, no feet apart ‘cause they’re so gay), and Intem’s like “Sure why the fuck not” and they set off to find his grave or whatever.
-Hatch and Xander are in the area and end up getting picked up by the crew.
-Dante gets revived, and for the next year or so, everything is fine.
-Eventually the crew docks near Therai’s old home kingdom, and he dips, taking Pippin, Xander, and Hatch with him (he really only meant to take Pip). They spend a while travelling to his kingdom, Aer-Vinn, and encounter Hatch’s long time (boy)friend Aerglo. He joins the party, at Hatch’s request.
-A little while later (vague time frame I know but exact years don’t matter here), there’s some Good Therai Angst when- Shock! Horror! - they end up stumbling upon Tal, who shares ~history~ with Therai. Not the good kind, mind you. They leave soon after meeting Tal.
-There’s a few more encounters with Therai’s old companion before Tal eventually softens up and joins the party, hell yeah. Warren joins too, because he was nearby and Also shares ~history~ with Therai and Tal. (They were all in a party together before this)
-AT THE SAME TIME THIS IS GOING ON: Rain sets out on a holy mission from their church to prove themselves worthy of being a Paladin of the Church.
-They meet Rosemary along the way, and after a small adventure together, they decide to help Rose out and find Catherine with her, because a while back Rose accidentally turned Catherine into, well, a cat.
-They do find Cat, after she’d gone through some Shit in an alternate dimension featuring a Sun Goddess and her complete mental breakdown. Cat Killed A Goddess (or two, we’ll see how the campaign goes), and made friends with the cousins Mikhail and Valentine. Mikhail doesn’t matter to the timeline right now.
-Anyway, Rain and Rose find Cat, and settle down in a little seaside village where they work together to turn Cat back into a human.
-They Succeed!!!
-Uh-oh there’s a stranger at the door- Oh! It’s just Rain’s Cleric friend from their church, Rahon! Turns out Rain kinda went MIA and everyone back home is having a Panic, so Rahon’s here to make sure Rain is alive and well, or collect their belongings if they’re not-
-But they’re alive, so Rahon calms down and decides to stay (after sending a message back home, of course), to keep an eye or two on Rain.
-Rain is Delighted :)
-The party (minus kal) were traveling somewhere, kal ended up going the same way, and they ended up in the same city for a while. rahon saw her Up To No Good, so he kept an eye on them and saw them getting stabbed, and decided to nurse her back to health, and thus Kal Joins The Party. Rahon is an absolute sweetheart to them
-Eventually Rose, Cat, and Rain head out to a nearby cave system bc of Reasons, and end up kinda sorta stumbling into a system that leads to this world’s version of the Underdark. They need help navigating, because Fuck These Tunnels Are Confusing, and come across a little hermit drow who’s living his “best” life in his underground hut with tattered clothes and ratty books and cracked glasses.
-He just wants to see the surface but is terrified of how the world will treat him if he goes up alone, so he offers to guide everyone through the Underdark in exchange for them taking him up to the surface. Everyone agrees
-Astralus, little hermit drow lad, does so, and soon finds himself stumbling out into broad daylight. He’s got light sensitivity and everything Burns, but he’s so fucking happy oh my gods. Also he’s crying but it’s okay, he’s kinda really emotional.
-Aster joins the party! And they find out he’s cousins with Rose, who practically adopted him as a brother anyway let’s be real.
-Somehow Val learns of Cat’s whereabouts, and pops by to say hi to his trauma buddy. Cue shock as he sees her as human for the first time. Aster develops an immediate crush, and takes to following Val around like a lost puppy.
-Val is having a Time because, Aster looks just like a person he knew in an alternate universe and things didn’t turn out well for them. Yikes.
-Val joins the party, if only to tease Cat and finally have a place to be for a while
-MEANWHILE: Bree finds an abomination living in the abandoned mineshafts near her village. She decides he could probably use a friend, since the entire village is pretty scared of/hostile towards him, and becomes that friend. She finds out his name is Ve, and he’s a sweetheart. She makes immediate friends and he teaches her sign language, because he Literally Doesn’t Have A Face, he can’t speak.
-A few weeks later, either Ve or Bree decide to leave bc Fuck This Town, except they don’t say Fuck because they’re both softe beans (they both legally cannot say fuck. and i actually had an idea for how they leave ovo). Either way, they leave, and through shenanigans, they pick up Three More Tieflings, what the hell, which is kinda funny because previously, Bree didn’t think tieflings existed at all.
-Tarvaii and Trancey are travelling together as a Chaotic Mischief Duo, and end up joining the party because Bree made friends
-Same situation with Chaym, though he was alone and depressed because his entire village got massacred. Bree made friends, and Chaym joined the party
-Chaym also ended up teaching Trancey magic, specifically Necromancy, which is kinda really stupid dangerous but it’s fine, Chaym survived, why shouldn’t Trancey? (flawed logic but okay Chaym)
-Cut to a few years later, back with Eve and Co.
-They’re in a tavern, Eve sees a depressed tiefling at the bar. What does she do? Immediately go try to cheer him up.
-She finds out he’d left his pregnant girlfriend on a mission to go help out somewhere, and ended up stuck in a weird place where time passes differently for him. It’s been 26 years, though to him it felt more like a handful of weeks. He’s scared and confused and would very much like to find his family, but he has no idea where he is.
-Eve’s heart breaks bc! he’s so sad and his girlfriend is pregnant and he’s got a family and just wants to get back to them, how could she not want to help? and thus she decides to help the tiefling, Viren, find his family.
-Through a series of events, the find out Viren’s family was living in a beautiful city built into the mountains, that fell quite a few years back. Luckily, his girlfriend left beforehand, and moved to a small mining town, where she gave birth to, and briefly raised, their son. She named him Ve, after his father, who she assumed was dead.
-There was a fire at one point, and Angelica, Viren’s girlfriend, died saving Ve. Viren is absolutely devastated when he finds out, and Eve offers to resurrect Angelica, y’know, bring the family together again, even if for just a short time.
-Vi agrees, and they do so! Woo! Also Eve and co. meet up with Ve for a while so the family really is back together.
-Intem, doing a sneaky trick, makes it so Angelica’s soul keeps the body and just, lives until the body dies, be it natural or unnatural causes. He only tells Eve and Angelica about it, and waits to see how long it takes Viren to realize ‘oh shit I’m not losing my fiance so soon’
-Also Viren and Angelica get engaged! Woo!
-A little while passes, Viren and Anne join the party, and Eve gets pregnant with Intem’s kids. At this point the party’s stopped adventuring, and they all settled down somewhere nice. Anyway Eve’s pregnant and gives birth to twins, Olive and Evergreen (Evan for short), but Olive looks more like Therai than Intem and it’s kinda weird, but nobody really minds because the twins are just, so cute. Also Therai (and co) came back and built the party a nice house, so, yeah.
-Olive and Evan grow up, and Evan takes an interest in Druid Magic. Vik lets Evan access his Giant Library and teaches him general magic stuff. Olive scares her whole ass family by taking an interest in Necromancy, and eventually someone gets in contact with Chaym (and by extension Trancey), and has him come over to teach Olive.
-Olive becomes a necromancer! And then heads off with Evan in tow to start their own life of adventuring.
-Eve has another kid, Avery, with Therai
-Olive befriends a Whole Ass Dragon, gives him the nickname Jade, and introduces him to Evan. By the time the trio make it back to Jade’s hoard, Avery’s taken on the role of Fighter and heads out into the world to do her own thing. She also meets Clover, another fighter, and they travel together for a while before joining Olive, Evan, and Jade.
-That’s it, that’s where we stopped on the timeline of True Canon. It’ll go on, of course, but, here’s the general timeline in 4 pages

Canon character BABIES
I just
love giving canon characters babies OK
I'm not even a kids person but it's just so fun to see how they take after their parents and what parts of them are all theirs.
My lot. Some are the kid of two canon characters, some are canon character/OC offspring.
Includes the Witcher, TES and Dragon Age characters.
THE WITCHER -
Avallac'h/Ciri -
Arianwen Elaine aep Zireael - Born post-TW3. Inherited Avallac'h's elfy appearance and his pale eyes, but Ciri's hair, so she looks very spectral. Dreamer, shy and introverted, but independent like her mother. Has more of the Elder Blood than her mother, due to also having Avallac'h's genes - since he was supposed to father Lara's child, I figured any kid of his and Ciri's would have immense power. Grows up to become Aen Saevherne (sp) training under Ida Emean (whom I headcanon as Lara in hiding, whose reaction to finding out Avallac'h had a kid with her descendant was "WTF NO???" and practically kidnapped Arianwen to keep her away from him).
Morgan Wynne aep Zireael - Twin of Aria. Can pass as fully human. Inherited her father's blond hair and mother's eyes. Takes more after her mother, but unlike the rest of the family she just wants to have a quiet life running her own business without any drama, kthx. Unlike Aria, she inherited her mother's impatience. Her powers never had time to manifest.
Killed when Aria’s powers manifested; Aria was trying to light a candle with magic out of sheer boredom and blew up the house. It fucked Aria up big time.
Eredin/Ciri -
Milva aep Zireael - Older half-sister of the twins, born pre-TW3, grew up in an orphanage and then a brothel before Avallac'h found her and brought her to Tir na Lia. Eventually groomed to assume the throne, because there's an ongoing succession crisis, and she's the heir of BOTH Eredin and Auberon, while also being the kid of Zireael, so that was a no-brainer. Ge'els was like "thank fuck I don't have to be in charge any more." Has an arranged marriage with Ge'els to smooth the transition. Their marriage is... interesting. Milva has a lot of Eredin's ruthlessness, and never forgave Ciri for abandoning her at birth, but gets along well with Arianwen and Avallac'h.
Arianwen/Caranthir (he survived in this AU STFU) -
Rosalind aep Arianwen - Due to her ancestry, Rosalind is ridiculously powerful and pretty much the epitome of what the elves were aiming for in their Elder Blood experiments. She's all but a god before she hits puberty. Don't know much else about her, except she grew up under the watchful eye of her aunt Milva, and her parents are friends and not lovers. She is the weapon the Aen Elle wanted to make Ciri and Lara into.
THE ELDER SCROLLS -
Mehra/Elam Drals -
Evalsea Sadri - Grew up with the Morag Tong, unaware her real parents gave her up at birth. Raised by Ashur. Lazy like her father, can quite happily sit in one spot all day and never, ever move. Not too bad at fighting, but prefers poisons and methods of killing that are less... exerting. Why tire yourself out having a full on fight when you can just snipe someone? Fuck that nonsense, the Morag Tong is full of melodramatic edgelords who have no sense of practicality, she just does her job and fucks off home.
Rowan/Mannimarco -
Silurie Roseheart - Working name, might change it. Inherited Mannimarco's brilliance and arrogance, but also enough of her mother's compassion to take the edge off. Very, very, VERY easily bored. Grows up unaware her father is Mannimarco - she has a relationship with him, but Rowan wanted to shield her from it so Mannimarco uses a fake name when he interacts with his daughter. Mannimarco barely sees her during her childhood and even Rowan is often away, but it genuinely didn't affect Silurie - growing up on Artaem surrounded by people who left their families behind meant she had no idea growing up without your parents wasn't normal, so she never felt that she was missing out on anything. Valsirenn is her closest mother figure, along with her maternal grandmother Eilonwy. Her relationship with her father is warm - he likes giving her near-impossible tasks to keep her occupied. Her reaction to eventually figuring out who her father really is, to both Valsirenn' and Eilonwy's horror, is "that's AWESOME.”
DRAGON AGE --
Hawke/Fenris --
Leandra Hawke -- Now known as “Liriel Lavellan”. Yup, that’s right, Liriel was originally a FenHawke baby! In spirit, she’ll always be their kid.
She still has her original parents’ traits -- she takes a lot after Fenris. Incredibly passionate about what she believes in and will Fight You and give you Opinions whether you want them or not. Has his eyes, his face and his hair. She does, however, have her mother’s happy-go-lucky, “out of sight, out of mind” mentality rather than her father’s broodiness.
Solas/Liriel Lavellan --
Man I have a whole tag dedicated to their family.

Recuperation
Nasch had always concerned himself with the threat of Astral World, that he never considered that one of his own would attempt to murder him and his sister in an attempt to usurp the throne.
Nor did he consider how far Durbe was willing to go to protect them both.
Based on the second photo in this photoset.
Warnings: Pre-Canon AU Pairings: Durbe/Nasch
Read it here on AO3!
It had all happened so fast.
What had started as a simple gathering of the Barian Lords to assess their next step in the fight against Astral World, was quickly turned on its head the moment Vector approached the stairway that lead to the throne.
Right away, Nasch stood from his throne, Merag and Durbe, who had been at either side of the Barian King, also took a step closer themselves, feeling the evil aura pouring from Vector's being.
There had been something off about him, something dark and sinister, something... powerful that eminated from his body. When he spoke, it sounded as though there was a second voice speaking in time with his; a deeper, more malevolent voice that sounded familiar, and yet, not. He spoke of how only he knew the way to the destruction of Astral World, of how he'd attained a great power that would make it so, of how the only thing standing in his way...
were Nasch and Merag.
No sooner than the words had left him, he released a powerful blast of Barian energy at the reigning king and his sister, with the intent of ending them then and there. Quick to defend his twin, Nasch stepped in front of her and pivoted, sheilding her from Vector's attack with his body, his back to the incoming blast.
Above the roar of the attack, Nasch managed to make out the sound of Durbe's voice, but was unable to hear what was said - the blast making impact, but not with him or Merag.
The first thing Nasch heard once the inital boom of the impact died down was a hard and solid 'thunk' behind him, followed by Gilag's choked cry of "Durbe!". Nasch's eyes went wide, a sickening feeling beginning to form in his gut. He moved from his position defending Merag to turn and look behind him, Merag doing the same, looking around her brother.
There on the ground behind him, lie Durbe, missing his lower half, as well as his arms just above the elbow.
Merag shrieked in horror, and Nasch found himself frozen, unable to say or do anything, staring at the half body at his feet.
Below them, Mizael launched a wave of his own Barian energy at Vector in retaliation, and a fight had broken out among the Barians, Vector being outnumbered by Mizael, Gilag, and Alit, but easily holding his own against them.
Merag's hand at his shoulder snapped Nasch out of his stupor, and his eyes met hers, rage in both their gazes. With twin cries of "Vector!" both the twins launched a blast of concentrated Barian energy at the winged would-be usurper. The blast was enough to knock Vector back, but not enough to knock him out. There was, however, a crack in one of his wings, a hazard that Vector quickly picked up on.
With a growl, Vector jumped back, sending another blast at Mizael and Alit, one that Gilag was easily able to defend them from, before retreating from the scene, flying somewhat wobbily towards the Barian Ocean.
Kneeling down, both twins were quick to tend to Durbe, before Alit spoke up. "Nasch?" He sounded winded, the small skirmish with Vector apparently having already drained him somewhat. Just how strong had Vector become? "What should we do?"
Nasch was silent, looking down at the motionless Durbe in his arms, before looking to his sister. The twins shared a look, before nodding to each other. Merag stood from her kneeling position as Nasch began to speak.
"Follow Vector. Mizael, retrieve Tachyon Dragon from its dwellings." Mizael nodded at that, and quickly turned on his heel to fetch his loyal beast, "We're going to need every bit of power we have against him. Alit, Gilag," Merag began walking down the steps in front of the throne at that point, anger radiating off of her from every corner. "Merag will be joining you as you follow Vector. I'm going to go put Durbe in a healing crystal and join you all shortly. We will put an end to this nonsense immediately."
Both Alit and Gilag nodded their agreement and began to run out, following Vector's trail. Before Merag could follow, Nasch stopped her. "Merag." Merag turned to look at her brother then.
"Be careful."
Merag nodded, and ran after Alit and Gilag, leaving Nasch and Durbe by themselves.
Nasch lifted Durbe carefully, hooking his arms under Durbe's shoulders, wincing as bits of Durbe's rock-like body crumbled off of him and fell to the ground below. "Don't worry," Nasch muttered, more to himself than to Durbe, "I've got you."
Opening a portal behind him, Nasch then carefully walked through, being mindful to not proactively hasten Durbe's body's deterioration. The portal took him to the lower chambers of Barian World, underneath the throne room and the rest of the Barian Palace. It was dimly lit by various small crystal scattered throughout the floor and walls, but it was an empty space, well hidden and seldomly visited, a safe place to conjure up a healing crystal for Durbe.
Gently placing Durbe's body on the ground, Nasch began to form a healing crystal, one big enough to compensate for the body Durbe needed to grow back. As he was forming the crystal, he heard a weak groan, followed by Durbe's voice. "N-Nasch?"
Nasch stopped his work on the healing crystal, and knelt down, sitting Durbe's slowly deteriorating body up. "Don't speak," he said, cupping a hand on Durbe's chest, over the central gem there, feeding Durbe some of his energy. How Durbe's central gem had remained unaffected by Vector's blast was both a mystery and a blessing. Should it had been damaged... the prognosis would have been far more bleak. "You need to keep your strength up. I'll have you in a healing crystal as fast as I can."
"W-Where's Merag?" Durbe's head turned from side to side, his glazed gaze scanning all over the room for any sign of the King's twin.
"She's with the others." Nasch replied, retracting his hand from over Durbe's gem. "We're going to go after Vector."
"Y-You... You need to be careful...!" Durbe tried to move his body as best as he could to fully face Nasch, causing more little flecks of his body to break off.
"Durbe--"
"Vector's p-power...! It's changed...!" There was a frantic look in Durbe's eyes, a trembling in what remained of his body, and Nasch knew he needed to find a way to calm his fellow Barian Lord down before placing him in the healing crystal.
An idea comes to him, and he hesitates, never having done what he's thinking before, but it might help and Durbe needed to calm down. Nasch's hold on Durbe shifted, so he was able to move one hand to the back of Durbe's head.
"Nasch?"
Carefully, Nasch lowered his head to Durbe's, the red gem on Nasch's forehead coming into contact with the blue gem on Durbe's. The reaction from them both was instantaneous, a gasp escaping them simultaneously as they felt each other's strength, each other's emotions, each other's being from this form of intimate contact. Energy transference was more effective in this manner, as opposed to merely cupping a hand over a gem and feeding energy through that way, and that was what Nasch mentally told himself, that he was doing this mainly to keep Durbe on a stable source of energy while he worked on the healing crystal, but as he took in Durbe's feelings, he couldn't help but alter his motive.
He could feel everything. Durbe's fear of Vector's unbidden powers, his fear of losing his fellow Barians to this power, especially Nasch and Merag, but no fear of dying. In fact, Nasch felt Durbe's resolve to protect him and Merag, his unwavering commitment to keep them safe, even if it meant laying down his own life.
He felt Durbe's love.
It came in a wave, a warmth that showered his body with such a heavy emotion, only for it to be stifled and pulled back, like Durbe was reining the emotion back in. Nasch opened his eyes - when had he closed them? - only to be met with Durbe's tightly closed eyes and gentle trembling. It was clear, that was not something he'd intended for Nasch to feel.
So Nasch responded in kind, openly sharing his respect towards Durbe's resolve, his admiration and thankfulness and worry towards the Barian Knight's actions. His fear of losing him, not of losing a Barian, but of losing specifically him.
At that, Durbe's eyes opened and glazed gray met with Nasch's dual blue and red. It took a moment, but it was enough to get Durbe to stop reining in his feelings and relax in Nasch's hold, his every emotion open and true. He felt that Durbe had felt this way towards him for a long time, for as long as either of them could remember, and honestly? Nasch felt the same way too. Something drew them to each other, something raw and emotional and beyond their understanding but they were at peace with that. But neither had made the effort to do anything about it because of their statuses, Nasch as King and Durbe as his knight. (Something about the predicament felt vaguely familiar, but neither could put their finger on it.)
Upon feeling such an intense emotion flow through him, Durbe made a noise Nasch couldn't quite describe, but it didn't sound like he was in pain. For some reason, Nasch felt spurred on by the strangled sounding noise, his fingers on his free hand itching to touch Durbe's central gem, but he resisted, not wanting to take whatever they had just discovered too far, not in Durbe's weakened state, and not while Vector was still at large.
With one last wave of reassurance, and a last transfer of energy, Nasch reluctantly pulled away from Durbe, something akin to a whine escaping the wounded Barian. Both of them were breathing heavily, the sudden rush of another's emotions having been coursing through them being alot to bear. Knowing he needed to meet with the others as soon as possible, Nasch gently propped Durbe up against the wall, and rose to his feet, finishing his formation of the healing crystal.
Once it was fully formed, Nasch turned on his heel and once again picked up Durbe, who's breathing had begun to even out. "Nasch..."
"I'll come back for you." Nasch said, gently placing Durbe in the healing crystal. "After we deal with Vector, I'll come back for you. Otherwise I wouldn't be leaving your side."
"I know." Durbe's eyelids began to droop, the sedative properties of the healing crystal beginning to take their effect on him. "Please... be careful, Nasch."
Nasch's gaze softened, and he placed a hand on the crystal. "Of course, Durbe."
With that to assure him, Durbe allowed himself to be overcome with sleep, the healing crystal darkening to the point where only Durbe's outline and shadow could be seen. The healing process had begun.
Nasch lingered a moment, keeping his hand on the healing crystal a moment longer. He leaned his head forward, resting his forehead on the crystal and closing his eyes. Vector would pay for this, he promised silently. Vector would pay dearly.
With that, Nasch opened his eyes and stood back up, stepped back some so he could open a portal back to the surface and join the fight against Vector.

Exit Interview for a Fic (AKA: 10 Questions Every Fic Writer Secretly Wants to be Asked)
I started doing this list of questions every time I finish a ‘major’ fic. I’ve been putting together an updated fic list and realized I hadn’t ever done it for It’s About Time. So here we go!
1. Of the fics you’ve written, which is your favorite and why? At this point I’d have a really hard time picking between the still unposted (and unfinished) TwinSwap and the Dragon!Barry story. (The dragon AU has a lot more to it that I’ll hopefully get to eventually. There’s a few twists I adore with that one.)
I really, really, really love both of those. I’m also, obviously, really keen on the whole Barry POV canon compliant story and the hanahaki story, Chrysanthemums (Lovesick). And I’m still pretty proud of Like Friendship Set Aflame. (FYI that last one is rated Explicit.) Plus, Losing Time is still something I feel good about.
2. Which scene was your favorite to write in It’s About Time? The scenes of Barry and Lup pining for one another are always fun of course but writing them together and in love? It’s just so good. I think my favorite to write was chapter 44. I started that first scene with no specific goal and it all just kind of organically evolved into what it did and where it all led and it just felt like it fit together well. And they were just so damn happy and absolutely gooey in love. Legato was obviously pretty good, too, but there was a lot of stress writing it because obviously it’s a Big Deal and needed to be Really Good.
(Putting the rest under a readmore because this is very long and self indulgent.)
3. Which part of It’s About Time was hardest to write? I struggled a few times. One of the hardest was chapter 34. I had a plan, there were story beats I was trying to hit and an overall arc to their relationship that called for things to go a certain way. But they just wouldn’t. I wrote and scrapped thousands of words trying to get there and finally realized the option I’d been too blind to see. Changing my plan meant a lot of other things had to be changed and created a lot of other hard to write parts but it also helped with the characterization for Barry and the change and growth he was going through.
4. If you could change anything in It’s About Time, what would it be? I kinda wish it wasn’t over? Like, don’t get me wrong. I’m excited to be on the part of the story I’m telling now - the part that initially drew me to even telling the story? But, holy crap, I miss Lup. I miss the crew and happiness. This is a long slog through dark times and if ever there was a time to say “Poor Barry” then this is it. I mean, I don’t think it’s all darkness? I think there’s surprises that make it worth it? (I really hope so! Like the appearance of certain characters in chapter 7 of Time After Time, for example.)
And to be honest? I miss the interest that story got. Views/comments/etc have severely fallen off and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make it much much harder to motivate myself to work on it despite my determination to finish. (I get it though. It’s much more fun to read Blupjeans falling in love than Barry alone and kinda losing it.)
5. Did you make an outline for It’s About Time? Did you stick to it? Well, I mean, there’s the outline of the canon 11 cycles and that extrapolates out to giving the expanded story a specific set of story/character beats. As things got closer to Legato I had certain circumstances I wanted to hit in a certain order. So I guess yes, more than anything else I’ve written this had an outline. It wasn’t exceedingly thorough but it was definitely my game plan for things and yeah, several times that had to be scrapped like I mentioned about chapter 34 in question 3.
6. Which scenes did you cut, and which were added in It’s About Time? The scene of Barry cooking for the crew - specifically for the twins - wasn’t supposed to be in his POV. It was in Lup’s POV and I didn’t think it worked for his but then I couldn’t let it go so I just kinda... did it anyway.
I remember that snow cycle went on for much longer than intended, too. I’m really glad though, it got me away from the one cycle/one chapter format which helped me feel more relaxed about telling the story how it worked out rather than forcing things to fit certain ways.
There were definitely things that were cut but always because the scenes just weren’t working the way I thought they would during planning.
7. Who was your favorite character to write in A Thousand Tiny Moments? It’s Barry’s POV and I feel like I have a pretty strong grasp of him at this point. Gheesan and Selba were a lot of fun to write. Probably my still favorite OC is Embrace, though. One day I want to get art of Barry and Embrace, the big golden mongoose from cycle one.
Okay, this is maybe a weird answer since he’s not exactly a character? But I enjoyed writing my take on Griffin’s narration that opened chapter 36.
8. Which came first, the title or the fic? For a long time this was just called “the fic I’m not gonna write” because I’d never really jumped hard into writing fanfic before. Previous to starting this thing I’d only written a couple of 1k-ish minifics for a different fandom and only written something over 10k ... a handful of times.
9. Which idea came to you first in It’s About Time? It’s a little tricky answering this question because, even though it’s split up between Stolen Century and then the rest of the podcast timeline being in Time After Time, I tend to think of them all as one piece - Barry’s story.
I think the part that hit me first was thinking about Barry in Taako’s pocket spa and what kind of things would be running through his mind.
In this very first consideration of his POV, I’d forgotten he wouldn’t have memories yet. So then I backed it up to that night between Wonderland and his cave/getting back in a body. What all must he have been thinking while they slept? After so long to be so close to the end and then have to get in a body and relinquish any semblance of control to the boys and his memoryless body? Honestly, I find that idea terrifying. From there it just kept spinning out to considering different bits of canon from his point of view. I don’t remember what the point was that finally convinced me to start writing but I’m still surprised it happened after so long of not really being a fic writer.
10. What are some facts readers may not know about It’s About Time? The first thing I wrote for this fic was Contradictions, the so called test minific. Then I got obsessed. I wrote pages of notes, picking out details that were relevant to Barry’s story and thinking and enormous lists of questions about what was going on with him or in his head at certain points. I spent literal days thinking about how to account for things inferred from canon. For example, why didn’t Barry remember things between bodies? When did he get the boys’ artificing projects that he gives them after reunion tour?
Then I started writing longhand in notebooks. I started out writing where Contradictions left off: Barry’s trip out of the gerblin cave with THB and arriving in Phandalin. For a while I thought that’s what the fic would be: just Barry’s time from that wagon ride to Phandalin and ending with him getting into the tank as his last moments as ‘the red robe’ before revealing himself as Barry Bluejeans again.
Eventually I realized that I needed to include Stolen Century and decided to start from the chronological beginning of the story. I’d written the entire century (albeit much, much shorter in this first draft - there was nothing between Tessaralia and Legato, for example - and then probably 15k of stuff directly following the defeat of the Hunger - that night and the following morning, as well as the first part of the Faerun things, Frank Texican’s part that is chapters 8 & 9 of Time After Time, and parts that still haven’t posted in Time After Time, including that section I’ve mentioned several times as the bit I’m MOST excited to share.
After that it still took me weeks to decide to start posting and then another few weeks to decide to start posting Stolen Century and tell the story in order. I kind of wish I hadn’t done that just because it’d be nice to see them falling in love after all the awful alone and voidfished time but it’s good to have it done this way and have specific memories and all the characterization solidly built in order.

PROMPT: TIME
AO3: HERE
A/N: I actually haven't watched the show since somewhere in Season 4.  I've attempted to get up to date with the Gideon/ Season 6 things, but it is after all, only a week when I have a job that's driving me crazy.  I apologize if I messed up something crucial, but I guess we're already in AU zone since Gideon was successfully saved and we have this potential angst with a side of fluff and babies, so what's a little more AU. Basically what I'm saying is when I'm wrong about something in canon, please don't hate me.
Trigger Warning:  Description of Panic Attack (To avoid skip part after “Whatever it is we can fix it” to section break.)
The walk from the library to the pawnshop had never felt longer.   Even in her worry, Belle couldn't help but smile at the Gold and Son sign.  It may have come from the Black Fairy's curse, but there was still something touching about the names together on the sign, her boys working together.
She pushed the door open trying to force a smile on her face.
"Mother!"  Her son was the first one forward, his head darting up from his work as soon as the bell on the front door chimed.  "Mother! I thought we weren't going to see you until lunch.  Is something wrong?"
Gideon rushed over, hands already ready to support her if necessary but waiting until she gave her permission.  Gideon craved physical contact but was seldom willing to ask for it.  It was a reflex that she and Rumple were still working on, but it would take a lot more than freely given hugs and kisses to get over twenty eight years of neglect and abuse.
"I'm fine."  The words felt small and untrue, but she pulled her sons arms around her anyway, allowing herself to lean back into his tall frame.  She felt him relax and it gave her courage. Gideon didn't hate her.  Not yet at least.  Things with this baby would be fine.  They would just take time.
Time she wasn't sure she had if she was honest with herself.  She saw the worry in Rumplestiltskin's eyes, even if he tried to hide it. Belle wasn't sure if knowing the truth would actually help his worry, or if the addition of a fourth family member would send him over the edge.
Still she knew she couldn't keep the news a secret for long.   It had been four hours at most since she found out about the baby and already she wasn't acting like herself.  She had practically fled the library, leaving it unmanned and unlocked.  It had been practically a miracle she'd remembered to grab a coat, but she supposed that was in part because keeping herself healthy had never seemed more important.
"Is it so wrong for me to miss my family in the middle of the day?"  She gave Gideon a kiss on the cheek.
While she knew the baby couldn’t be a secret for long, seeing their faces made her realize she couldn't do this right now. She just needed a few moments, a little more time to center herself, to let herself get used to the idea of a baby.
It wasn't that the child wasn't wanted.   Gods no.  She already loved this baby with every ounce of her being.  It was just unexpected and with life in Storybrooke already so up in the air it felt like too much to handle, more than she felt she could handle.
She hadn't realized she had started to cry before she felt her husband's hand wiping away the tears.
"Sweetheart, Everything is going to be okay.  Whatever it is we can fix this."
Somehow that only made her cry harder.  She couldn't even look at either of them anymore.   Her entire body felt like it was out of her control now.  She was shaking and she couldn’t breathe.  Was
"Gideon help me get her to the cot in back"
Belle could hear them moving her, could feel her son’s hands around her, but she didn't feel like she was present any more.  It was like they were doing it to someone else someone who didn't have earthshattering news for their family.
A million questions ran through her head as she tried to focus on actually getting some air.   Maybe her inability to breathe wasn't coming from anxiety and something was actually was wrong with her.  Was this the unspoken cost of the magic necessary to speed things along? Was her body betraying the baby right now? Hurting them instead of providing of safe shelter?
The questions racing through her head at a million miles a minute were only silenced by everything slowly fading to back.
She felt the hand first.  A steady rhythm going through her hair, somehow anchoring her. Next she felt her head lying in the lap of her husband.
"Sweetheart?"  His voice was so unsure; his eyes brimming with unshed tears.
Belle forced herself into a sitting position and tried to look around. "Where's Gideon?"
Gentle hands pulled her back down onto his lap, before resuming their slow dance through her hair.   "He's fine.   I sent him to get Doctor Whale."
"No!"  The word escaped her before she realized she said it.
Rumplestiltskin looked affronted.  "Belle, we're worried.  We're both terrified something is wrong.  You haven't been yourself lately.  You’re tired all the time and your stomach isn’t even tempted by Granny’s hamburgers.  You need to let us help you."
When said like that, any hope of keeping the pregnancy to herself or just between Rumplestiltskin and her died.
"I'm scared." The words were barely audible in the quiet shop.
The hand paused in her hair.    “Belle, even after all this time, you are the bravest, most remarkable person I know.  It’s okay to be scared, but you have to face the problem.  You taught me that.”
His eyes were so earnest and pleading.  They had agreed on no more secrets and she couldn’t resist anymore.
“I’m pregnant.”
She studied his face as the emotions flooded across it. His worry changed to confusion and then to love and wonder.
Rumplestiltskin placed a hand against her still flat stomach, as if he could feel the babe growing in it already.   Then he leaned forward to capture her lips in a kiss that was practically reverent.
“That’s wonderful.  But how?”   He bashfully avoided meeting her eyes.  Obviously he knew how.  He’d always been an enthusiastic participant.  But she knew what he meant.   They hadn’t exactly been in a bedroom state of mind recently.  Between helping Gideon and rebuilding the trust in their relationship, it never felt like the right time.  Plus the pain that had still lingered from an expedited birth could certainly put a damper on even the most romantic of intentions.
“That was my first thought too.” She whispered. Belle tried not to focus on the hand ghosting over her abdomen making this feel real.   “I looked in the library-“
“Naturally,” Rumplestiltskin chuckled before pressing kisses into her hairline.
She hummed in pleasure at his actions.  It was easy to forget she had ever been worried when he seemed so ready to shower her and the baby with affection.  Of course, the bigger and more unpredictable challenge was still to come.
“And I think the Evil Queen didn’t use enough magic to speed up my pregnancy.”
She felt Rumplestiltskin tense beneath her at the memory of the terrible time, of how he missed his second sons birth, of how she wouldn’t even tell him Gideon’s name, of the blatant fear on her face.
Belle hurried on with her explanation trying to keep them in the present.  “If you’re having fraternal twins, you need more magic.  Of course I don’t know much about magic, but that seems to be about right, I mean larger cost and all.”  She was babbling, but really couldn’t stop herself.  It felt easier if she got it all out at once.
“And maybe I shouldn’t even be calling them fraternal twins, it could be super-, superf-” She should have brought her notes from the library, because even as she tried to explain it was like her mind was blank.
“Sweetheart,” He grabbed her hand, trying to keep herself from getting too worked up again.  “You’re not doing this alone anymore.  We can figure this out together.”
“So you’re not mad?”  Even though Rumplestiltskin seemed excited, she couldn’t help but ask. She needed to.
She knew this pregnancy dragged up so many regrets and fears.  If there had been no Black Fairy, no Evil Queen, they would have had two lovely children, with the language of twins all their own.  They would have decorated a nursery and switched out the cribs for bunk beds eventually.  There would have been laughter as their house was made the castle or pirate ship or dragon’s den for countless playtimes.   But that was a time stolen from them, an illusion that she needed to give up on to give both her children an opportunity to be themselves and not her silly idolized version of them.
Rumplestiltskin’s arms tightened around her.    “I could never be mad about this.   Having a family with you was all I ever wanted.”
There was so much sadness laced in those words.   So many memories of the times she’d doubted that, of times when his quest for power to protect that dream sabotaged it.
Belle began to fiddle with her wedding ring to give herself something to focus on.
“I just don’t know how to tell him.  Without you I’d certainly mess up telling Gideon I was pregnant.”
There was a crash behind them and Belle lifted herself off Rumplestiltskin’s lap to see the source of the commotion.
Gideon was staring blankly at them, a tea tray smashed on the floor in front of him.
“Pregnant?”  His voice was shaking.
Belle tried to pull her son into an embrace, to hold him as they sorted things out, but he pulled away from her.
“No!  This can’t be happening now! You said you would help me! You said you’d help me free the children still stuck in the Dark Realm!”
Every word felt like a stab.   She knew things wouldn’t go well, but she thought it would be her son’s insecurity in his place in this family that caused all the problems not his desire to be a hero that was so much like hers.
“Gideon! Wait!”  Her shouts were only greeted by the slam of the shop’s front door.
She turned to look back at Rumplestiltskin, who staring at his cane intently seemed much calmer than he had any right to be.
Belle tried to pull him off the cot to help her chase down their son, but he merely waved a hand and repaired the tea set Gideon had dropped.
“What are you doing? We have to go after him!”
He gave her a weak smile.  “No, sweetheart, that would only be chasing him away.”
Belle reluctantly sat down on the bed next to him, leaning into him as if she could absorb all his calm and parental knowledge.
“He needs time to come to terms with it.”  Rumplestiltskin squeezed her hand.   “I think we all do.  We just have to remember.  This isn’t like last time.”
Even as he said it, Belle heard the slight waver in his voice that meant Rumplestiltskin was trying to convince himself as well.

Crack Crossover: Dragon Wings/Dragon Eclipse
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | ???
(Yeah this is something that came about because of chatting with @ptsdven and going “lol wouldn’t this be amusing if...” and then last night my brain just ran with it so you know what, cool, whatever. Have some crack crossover AU that won’t actually happen in canon. There will probably be more of this later but for now lulzies.
Also, there is a reason for the name choice that DW Uryuu made, using Sasaki as his last name: “Sa” -- “help/aid” (repeated, hence Sasa) and “Ki” -- “tree/wood”. symbolism yay!)
As the last lingering traces of Yhwach faded away, Kaito breathed a sigh of relief and let his stance relax. They had done it. They had won. Yhwach was defeated and maybe they could all /finally/ relax.
Across from him, Kurosaki settled his ridiculously large dual blades across his back and let his shoulders slump in exhaustion. Ishida allowed his bow to fade back to reishi, and carefully crossed the destroyed ground to stand at Kurosaki’s side.
“Well. This is a right mess,” a calm voice broke the silence that had fallen, and a stranger stepped from the distorted edges of the room, stride confident and unhurried. “Gin will never allow me to live this one down.”
Kaito swallowed back a curse as he stared at the man and his familiar zanpakutou: a long black daito and a pure white hook sword. He shifted his stance, flexed his hands around the hilts of his own weapons, and quietly resigned himself to peace and quiet continuing to remain beyond his grasp.
The man’s sharp gaze switched to Kaito, visibly examining him for a moment before the other’s lips quirked upwards into an amused smile.
“An alternate reality. How… exciting,” he said drolly. He considered Kaito for a moment longer, looked over at Kurosaki and Ishida, then shrugged and released his bankai in a whisper-quiet subsidence of power.
The familiar bankai outfit faded away, to be replaced with a rather traditional Shinigami outfit, but it was the man’s weapons that kept Kaito’s attention. Barely the length of traditional katana, the twin dao looked tiny in the man’s grip, especially when he transfered them into one hand and slid the paired blades into a single sheath at his waist.
“Who the hell are you?” Kurosaki demanded, pulling his blades from his back once more and taking a defensive stance.
“Him,” the man said with a casual gesture towards Kaito. “Though how in the world you ended up with /blond/ hair… You remind me of Urahara Kisuke, actually.”
“I’m his son,” Kaito replied.
That seemed to startle the stranger briefly, and he reached up to fiddle with his glasses as he processed that. “I would have never expected that. So, kido then?” At Kaito’s nod, the man made an agreeable noise, glanced around at the shattered room, then shrugged. “Well, there goes my hope of a quick retrieval. Alright gakis, let’s be on our way. We’re achieving nothing standing around here and chatting.”
“Hey, wait a minute!” Kurosaki shouted as the stranger turned to go, before falling silent at the sight of the distinctive rhombus and kanji for ‘fifth’ centered on the back of the man’s white haori.
(*What. The fuck.*) Ichigo radiated shock and disbelief. (*A Captain? He’s a fucking /Captain/?!*)
The man paused and looked over his shoulder, arching an eyebrow at Kurosaki, seemingly unaware of the shock directed at him. “Yes?”
Kurosaki coughed, glanced at Ishida and Kaito for a moment, then drew himself up despite his exhaustion. “What did you mean ‘quick retrieval’? And why are you wearing /that/?”
“A name would also be nice,” Ishida added.
“Sasaki Uryuu, Captain of the Fifth. Which is why I’m wearing ‘that’,” Sasaki told Kurosaki with amusement, as he tugged at one edge of his haori to make his point clear. “And since my being here is at least three-quarters Gin and Rangiku’s fault, I was /mildly/ hopeful that the gakis would just undo… whatever they were toying with. But since that hasn’t happened yet, I doubt it will until Rangiku finally badgers Gin into playing nice with Urahara-san.”
(*Gin and /Rangiku/? He’s calling them /gakis/?*) Ichigo made a noise of disbelief. (*Gin’s been trying to kill Aizen for decades!*)
(*I guess… he was sent back much further than we were,*) Kaito said, warily eying the Captain. How much further was the question, along with /what/ that amount of time had done to the other.
(And a small, terrified part of himself was staring at the other man and realizing /exactly/ what being a powerful soul /meant/. His alternate looked barely thirty, and yet Kaito had no idea /how old/ he actually was.)
“Do you… not get along with Urahara-san?” Ishida asked awkwardly, glancing once at Kaito and then back to Sasaki.
Sasaki shrugged and turned back to the exit, gesturing for them to follow as he answered the question. “He and I don’t always see eye to eye.” He tapped the combined hilt of his blades absently. “I’m a bit tired of mad scientists, truth be told, and Urahara-san has been… unduly fascinated with my nature from the moment he understood that I was a hybrid.”
“Father’s not like that,” Kaito finally spoke up, narrowing his eyes in annoyance. Whatever the Urahara of /Sasaki’s/ world was like, Kaito /knew/ that his own was much different.
The man turned his head a bit to give Kaito a considering look, then gave another wry smile and looked forward once more. “Perhaps not. I don’t recall the Urahara of my childhood very clearly these days, and never interacted with him all that much even then. Perhaps exile and Aizen’s games humbled him. Perhaps the man I know is lesser for never experiencing that fall from grace. But Aizen’s death, long before so many of his plans came to fruition… I cannot regret that decision.”
