I've had a resurgence of listening to First Aid Kit recently so I decided to pair up a bunch of their songs and lyrics to traffic characters and ships. I'm surprised they’re not more popular in fandom spaces since they’re pretty similar genre-wise to both Crane Wives and the Oh Hellos, so consider this is my community pitch (+ commentary cuz i wanna)
Fleeting one - BigB
"My love is a fleeting one / My man could be anyone / And our love is a setting sun / My life is fleeting one / My work is just a web I've spun / Oh, my life is a setting sun / Baffled by the lives we were lent / We met the end too soon / I was honest when I told you / We're as cryptic as the moon"
BigB has a bit of a history with wavy loyalties. The secret soulmates with Grian, betraying Cleo, and most recently tricking Skizz (I know that was resolved but a pattern is a pattern my man). And well, not that I have any clue what the man's up with all the cryptic gaslighting but I feel like that applies as well.
The lyrics outside the chorus seem to be about a couple falling out of love, but I like to apply it to him and Cleo, which still fits fairly well. Angst galore ofc.
Wolf - Pearl
"When I run through the deep dark forest long after this begun / Where the sun would set, the trees were dead, and the rivers were none / And I hope for a trace to lead me back home from this place / But there was no sound there was only me and my disgrace"
Scratch this being the most Pearl-like FAK song, this is the most Pearl song ever. It's basically what started this whole project. All the lyrics and all the vibes just screams DL Pearl. The song is also a bop, one of my personal favs, if I were to recommend just one of these to listen to then this is a strong contender.
Josefin - Martyn
"You go home with feet bare in the snow / You raise up your head to the dead / You seek of such magical things / And nobody knows where you've been"
This smells of watcher lore guys. Don’t have much more commentary than that, it’s just watcher lore straight up.
King of the World - Lizzie
"I keep running around / Trying to find the ground / But my head is in the stars / And my feet are in the sky / Well I'm nobody's baby / I'm everybody's girl / I'm the queen of nothing / I'm the king of the world"
The lyrics is giving Last Life Lizzie, but it’s also one of the more whimsical-sounding songs on the list which feels very Lizzie in general.
I'll admit the rest of the lyrics isn’t particularly easy to tie into the life series since there’s a bunch of specific modern references like going to the airport and traveling through states, but I love the song way too much not to include it. Might be the personal favourite.
Rebel heart - Desert duo
"You told me once I have a rebel heart / I don't know if that's true / But I believe you saw something in me that lives inside you too / Now I all I hear is the wind / There’s a storm coming through / Did I misplace or forsake my love now that I gave it to you?"
Picking just one lyric section from this song was difficult. Every single word, top to bottom, fits Scarian like a glove. It also slams in a "But I know you truly saw me / Even if just for a while" which just MMMM. Makes me wanna bite someone.
I Found a Way - Treebark
"We play the game with skillful hands / And so I asked for your demands / "Give me your love, give me your gun" / And you traced us back to where we begun"
Tbh this song could apply to a lot of traffic dynamics but it had a lot of loyalty themes which is why I put it at Treebark specifically. That being said: man. It works so well. Specifically Martyn POV. The gun in the lyric above would ofc be the beheading, plus the song later mentions the protagonist having a lot of guilt and being prone to running. It's got C!Martyn all over it.
My Silver Lining - Skizz
"I try not to hold on to what is gone / I try to do right what is wrong / I try to keep on keeping on / Yeah I just keep on keeping on / I hear a voice calling / Calling out for me / These shackles I've made in an attempt to be free / Be it for reason, be it for love / I won't take the easy road"
This is another one where it just is Skizz. He’s probably been the most consistantly loyal and good-natured person in the series, doing anything and everything for his team. I feel this especially with how he was in Limited Life, being determined to spread some light into the world despite the game they found themselves in. When making this list I found that most of these songs could fit multiple dynamics/characters, but this is his song, full stop.
Stay Gold - Flower Husbands
"The sun shone high those few summer days / Left us in a soft, wide-eyed haze / It shone like gold / It shone like gold / But just as the moon, it shall stray / So dawn goes down today / No gold can stay / No gold can stay"
👏ANGST👏GALORE
Another one where I just want to quote the whole song. The song is all about grieving time periods and memories you can’t get back, to which I'm thinking late-game 3rd life, post-3rd life divorce or s1 empires characters having weird nostalgia. I go feral for all of it.

Heavy storm - Sausage

S1 Sausage angst my beloved. Or s2, could work either way, but I'm partial to s1. "She" could be either Pearl or Gem, however there is a "he" in the first chorus which is very much Fhwip. Like Stay Gold it’s all about grieving old times, so I like to imagine a post S1 Sausage grieving his old family :D

A) I have more favorite 'series' than books/novels tbh.
You'll see that I love books more for the plot than the characters, It's the same for any media I consume. I often don't relate to characters a lot. But I love stories and if the plot is good then I don't care if I like the characters!
In no particular order:
A Song of Ice and Fire (novel version of Game of Thrones) - I've never read a better series with a plot so captivating and the world building is just something else. I also love the characters so much!
The shadowhunter chronicles - I've always been obsessed with the concept of angels and demons (maybe it's my catholic upbringing) but I got sucked into the series very easily. One of the things I love about tsc is that the friendships have just as much emphasis as romantic relationships.
Red White Royal Blue/Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe - These are two of my favourite queer novels because these were some of the first queer novels I read so they mean a lot to me. I love the characters in both!
Sherlock Holmes - I've read every single story and I was obsessed with Sherlock Holmes growing up. Mystery is my favourite genre and the writing of Conan Doyle really influenced my own in turns of how much I love leaving clues and plot twists. He is just brilliant!
Ponniyan Selvan (This is a novel in my native tongue) - I read this when I was very young and this is, to this day, one of the most brilliant pieces of writing I've ever read. I started writing stories when I was 8 (my mom took me to school competitions etc) and this story was my inspiration to start writing. (because growing up I only write in my native language. I think fan fiction was the first time I started writing in English).
B) Favourite ships:
I don't actually have many hehe. Like I said, I don't connect with characters/ships easily. But some ships I do like include Malec, Firstprince (rwrb) and Ineffable husbands (Good Omens).
There are also this from my own writing that I love a lot hehe. But I'll save them for later.
C) My favorite shadowhunter novels:
My favourite series is TMI. I think it's because I like the gang best (they felt like an actual real friend group to me as opposed to the others who had too many mini friend group inside them). I also like the plot of tmi and the villains much better.
I also love the three novellas - the bane chronicles, TFTSA, and GOTSM. This is some of CC's best work if you ask me (And those who co-wrote them with her!). And of course, I love the red scrolls of magic. The book was perfection. 100% perfection.
D) Favorite TSC ships:
Malec - Just because I understand them the most and I love their dynamic and I love how much growth we've seen from them (individually and together). They're the kind of couple that inspires others (in the tsc world and outside). I love that!
Herongraystairs - Idk there is something about the three of them and how much they love each other that gets to me. I wish we got to see more of them together!
Some honourable mentions I love: Henry/Charlotte, Gideon/Sophie, Gabriel/Cecily (I actually like all the ships in TID actually), Gwyn/Diana, Jace/Clary.

Congrats on 10 000 posts! 🎊 To celebrate, I have a question for you (sorry if you've already answered this): I was just wondering earlier today (while reading the Viisukuppila bulletin board out of boredom), based on the "clues" we have been given of next year's UMK contestants so far, do you happen to have any theories, hopes or sophisticated guesses on who might be participating? 👀
Thank you darling! ❤ My weak spot is that I don't really follow Finnish music scene and only have a vague idea which artists are popular 😅 But let's see what others have to say!
1. A talented artist’s first 90s-style dance song
The Finnish clue specifies that this is the debute song of the artist in question. Reminds me of Keira last year (success in The Voice of Finland and now releasing their first single). Timmy Tattari reached 3rd place in this year's TVoF and has a record deal with Capitol Finland (same as Keira) but hasn't released anything yet. He follows UMK, Cornelia Jakobs and Monika Linkyté on IG but that doesn't prove anything other that he watches Esc. Another candidate is Olga Heikkala, a singer and an actress who announced this month that she's leaving the soap opera Salatut Elämät after five years. No apparent UMK connections or label afaik, but is friends with KUUMAA boys and has performed on their music video.
2. A power song by a true vocal talent
Finnish fans are speculating about Diandra every year, but I have my doubts. Someone suggested Neea River, who rose to Tiktok fame covering Celine Dion. She is Warner’s artist, co-wrote a song for Blanka (Poland 2023), is friends with Benjamin and IG mutuals with Käärijä & Jesse.
3. Perhaps the best song of an indie favourite’s career
Stoned Statues just released their second album. Music magazine Soundi called them “the most promising young rock band of the moment” and Helsingin Sanomat “the new hope of Finnish heavy metal”. They had three Emma nominations and were awarded “upcoming artist of the year” in Indie Awards 2023. I also saw suggestions for Maustetytöt, but are they still considered indie?
4. Two big name performers doing a surprising duo with a serious refrain
The Finnish version of this hint suggests the refrain being “hard”, meaning catchy. Now we only have to find out which artists are considered “big names” 🙃 Abreu & Pihlaja did release a single together in August, although it must be mentioned that Abreu has previously stated that she’s not interested in Eurovision (although people can change their mind like Robin did). Fans are suggesting Sexmane, Isac Elliot and Costee to be the other half of the duo. I just hope we’re not getting the senior department who have no actual chance or desire to compete in Eurovision, like Danny/Tommi Läntinen 💀 Perhaps this is another Pandora & Teflon Brothers situation.
5. A thunderous rock anthem by a world-touring band
I saw rumours considering The 69 Eyes, but-- god please no. Their heydays are over. My own suggestion was Lost Society who could be the Blind Channel of this year. Shiraz Lane is also a possibility and they are from Ranka Kustannus as BC and Cyan Kicks were.
6. A seriously intense song from one of the most listened-to artists in Finland
The streets (X/Twitter) are saying that BESS is back and I wouldn’t mind it at all! Other suggestions are Gettomasa & Sexmane, the latter of which already had his brother Isaac Sene competing in UMK 2022. “Intense” can mean anything though. One possibility could be Bee who just released her first album and was selected as “breakthrough of the year” by YleX. Jodel rumours suggested Evelina, but I have no idea how reliable that is.
7. A hard-hitting club banger by a well-known artist making a comeback
Jenni Vartiainen just returned from a five-year hiatus, moved back to Finland and published a new single. I doubt she’d participate in UMK as a contestant though since she is one of the most successful Finnish female artists of all time and could easily sell out an arena. Perhaps she’ll be the host this year and in return gets to perform the interval number like Antti Tuisku, Paula Vesala & Samu Haber? I'm leaning more towards Tuuli, who was kind of a teen pop star and is now making a comeback with new label and new style of music. One of the nominees for YleX's breakthrough of the year, released her newest album in August.

SOOOO basically, i feel like this album was made from the deepest depths of taylor's mind written specifically for the people who get her and have been loving and supporting her for a long time... like there is no proper poppy single or song for the general public on there which is why i think so many people on social media have slammed the album and said she really missed the mark with this one but if you get it and if you understand the situations she sings about bc you've been thorugh them with her it's such a meaningful abum about her heartbreaks, mental struggles, struggles with fame and not feeling like real person but also about her healing journey and seeing the funny side of people having an opinion on your every move you know? i love her. i truly do. mastermind. ❤️🩹

Favourite thing to cook/bake: i hate cooking and baking 😅 i guess a crock pot stew cause i can dump everything in a pot, turn it on low for 8 hours and call it a day 😂

Most niche dislike: this is a good question! corporate pet retail i think honesty. i've been working in the pet industry over 5 years and it's actually super disgusting how common neglect and abuse is. fuck petsmart and petland and any other retail store that sells live animals! adopt don't shop!!!
Opinion on circuses: i've never gone to one but i'm against most things that involve animal captivity so i'm gonna say a vague negative opinion

rubs my hands together. i know you're super into genpact still (and hsr more so, but i haven't played enough to make a verse for katsuki yet), so lemme write up some ideas! we already have a basis for tartaglia and bennett mostly, so let's see if i can maybe slap down a few more that we could expand on !!
I. DILUC + KATSUKI (GENPACT). I swear we've discussed this before, and knowing me I've gone and forgotten exactly what, but I just like the idea of Diluc and Katsuki interacting. I think it would also be funny to implement the fact that Katsuki rendezvous with Tartaglia often, since he's always offering a challenge, and I doubt that Katsuki is inherently subtle with it - it looks as though he corresponds with the Fatui, but that's not the case for him. He's just there to fight Tartaglia like the little menace of a pseudo-younger brother he is. I think it'd be cool to see what Diluc might think of that. And let's be real, any sort of miscommunication... One of my favourite tropes to mess around with.
II. HU TAO + KATSUKI (GENPACT). These two... I bet that Hu Tao would quickly find every single one of Katsuki's nerves and tap dance right across them, but I'm not sure if she'd do it accidentally or if it'd be for the funsies. I think she'd also be the one dragging poor Katsuki into her bizarre ideas or any other antics she could potentially enlist his help for, because let's be real... All she has to do is imply he can't do whatever she's trying to get his help for. I think they'd get along well after a while, though! It's kind of like. Silly goofy meets silly angry.
III. SETO KAIBA (BNHA) + KATSUKI. Now I'll be honest: I don't got a single clue about Kaiba's original source, but I DO know you've recommended him to me a few times! I quickly read your bit on his BNHA verse and what he specialises in, and I vaguely remember you saying he'd be invested in Katsuki as a Pro-Hero or even as an up-and-coming one. I'd like to see these two working on possible upgrades and improvements to his existing tech, so long as it's not stepping on anyone's toes that he's getting these upgrades - Katsuki is someone who, ultimately, plays by most rules set by the Commission. Maybe he'd be seeking out some upgrades for his Strafe Panzer... We could play around with this one a little if you'd like!
and also because i've been seeing this boy frequently enough on my dash from you, i'm gonna slap down this too:
IV. ACHILLES (GENPACT) + KATSUKI (GENPACT). I also know nothing about Fate, which is where he's from, but I read up on your Genpact verse for him and I am... Interested... Katsuki's travelling the entire world of Teyvat, so I wouldn't put it past him to run into Achilles somewhere in Fontaine as a result of that, maybe chasing him down after hearing some things about him. As for what happens when they cross paths, you're gonna have to hit me with some ideas - because all my knowledge of Achilles comes straight out of The Odyssey and The Song of Achilles, I don't got a clue about Fate's version.

Tell me about the eurovision AU
Gladly!! It’s an au that I played about with a bit last year, set in a mystery year in a random location I haven’t thought of yet. Probably Sweden bc they’re the iconic hosts. The nations are all represented by their personifications, who are human in this au. Although in some cases I’ve opted for a nyo or a 2p version.
I currently only have the Nordics, France & the UK thought of.
I know that I for sure want to see at least two of the Nordics become an iconic friendship, much like what we’re seeing of Norway and Iceland’s entries this year. I would like a close friendship between Finland & Estonia too. And I am definitely considering letting scotland and Norway have a little Eurovision romance that manages to go under the radar a bit until nearer the end of the season.
Currently, the songs are:
SWEDEN: the classic perfectly perfected Swedish pop song (sung in English) that Sweden loves to send. The fans don’t care for it too much bc it’s been done before, but he’ll still end up coming like 7th bc the juries love to suck up to Sweden.
DENMARK: Denmark, along with my Faroe Islands oc, come in with a 2000s style europop beat. Again, it’s in English. It’s fun and energetic, but they don’t manage to make it to the final and the fans are outraged.
FINLAND: remember, I have an OC for Finland and don’t follow canon. I see them as part of a band, probably other random people from Finland. Not sure who else is in the band, but I know fin themself is the lead singer. It’s a heavy metal song in English.
NORWAY: Norway has a folk-rock song, it’s sung in English and tells the story of one of his favourite Norwegian folktales. It’s easily the more vocally demanding song of the year, and I actually don’t think he’s what norway wanted to send. I think for most of melodi grand prix there was a different favourite, singing a pop song, but they had to drop out last minute, so he ended up winning.
ICELAND: or, my interpretation of 2p Iceland. He’s the only nordic singing in his native language. Which would be good, but the song is… confusing at best? No one has any clue what’s going on. It’s like he’s shouting into the mic and there’s lots and lots of pyro equipment. You can see elves on the screen behind him? He’s shirtless and running around the stage like a mad man, no one can even pay attention to the song bc the performance is just so… what the fuck? He, surprisingly, does make it the final though.
FRANCE: the most French sounding ballad ever with lots and lots of Eiffel Tower memorabilia. It’s of course sung in French. His song is kind of forgettable.
THE UK: England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland are a band. Wales is the lead singer- with much pushback from England. England is the bassist who also does back up singing bc he threw a hissy fit probs. Northern Ireland is on the drums. And Scotland INSISTED he was allowed to play his bagpipes, which none of the other brothers like. It’s supposed to be a classic English rock song, but they all have very different ideas of what the band is so the song sounds messy at best. It’s not a popular song to begin with and their live performances are just awful every single time. They come dead last in the final scoring a whopping 0 points.

WHEN I CREATED THIS BLOG: 2011 or so for Homestuck. Yep. That's how I started here, y'all. Made it while I was working at a zoo on a slow day and sitting in front of a computer with nothing to do and the rest is history.

DREAM JOB: Pretty much what I do, tbh? I work as a 1:1 aide in special education and I love it so much. It's absolutely ideal. The only thing better would 1:1 educational aide and nanny but my unwillingness to get a driver's license kinda removes that from my list of possibilities.
DREAM TRIP: At this point, it'd be going to a little BL tour of countries but I'd have to go with someone so... probably never gonna happen. But I'd love to do a whole trip with someone who could force me out of my comfort zone because otherwise I'd just, like, lurk in front of shops and flee if anyone spoke to me and never actually see anything.
Realistically? I'm hoping to get to St Louis with a group of friends next summer to go to the zoo and City Museum.

Why don't POV characters fart? We have seen them shitting and peeing but farting is never mentioned wrt POV characters. George says that he doesn't cringe away from including sex because it's something real people do and that it's nothing to be ashamed of and should be portrayed in media. Why cant be the same hold true for farting. Everyone does it and what about our favourite characters. What are your thoughts on this complicated topic? Is fart erasure a problem we need to tackle in media? Please give us your precious opinions on this topic.

I see this is the price I must pay for my hubris.
Before I can answer your question about why POV characters don’t fart, we should mention when characters do fart to see if there’s any common theme that could give us a clue as to why certain others don’t:
Fortunately, asearchoficeandfire.com has given us 16 instances of the word “fart” and its variations used in the series from 1996-2011. I’ve come up with two relevant observations:
Some characters are noted to be particularly flatulent: Septon Sefton and Wendell Webber (The Sworn Sword) and Garth Tyrell (A Feast for Crows). We only see this in action in the Septon’s case, where Lucas Inchfield threatens Dunk with death, the septon asks he plea for mercy, and the tension is broken by his farting (more on how farting is synonymous with a particular tone in the second point). Wendell Webber’s constant farting is meant to make him look uglier and less worthy of being Lord of Coldmoat; he’s “grasping and stupid” “a short man with a goiter on his neck”, but also nonthreatening (if he wasn’t male and married to Lord Rowan’s sister, he wouldn’t be a threat to Rohanne’s claim at all). Garth Tyrell’s flatulence is brought up by his goodsister Olenna as a dig at Cersei (it’s compared to how badly Tywin smells at his funeral), and as to why he wouldn’t be a good Master of Coin. Then there’s Baelor Hightower, whose infamous fart led to Oberyn Martell dubbing him “Baelor Breakwind”, causing his sister Elia (previously halfway in love with him) to be unable to look at him without laughing. We can infer that farting/tendency toward flatulence is GRRM’s signifier that a man (and it’s always a man; no woman, no matter how disgusting GRRM wants to depict her, ever farts) is older, smelly, not exactly competent, unhandsome…in a phrase, “gross and undesirable, but in a comical way”.
Farting is used 5 times in the phrase “to care a mummer’s fart”, aka to care very little (in English, similar to not giving a shit, a rat’s ass, a fig, an iota, a sou, etc). Words are wind, and farting is breaking wind. But why are mummer’s farts singled out as particularly worthless? The answer may be in Sansa’s 4th ASOS chapter: “Musicians strolled among the tables, piping and fluting and fiddling, while Ser Dontos galloped about on his broomstick horse and Moon Boy made farting sounds with his cheeks and sang rude songs about the guests.” Yes, Moon Boy is a fool rather than a mummer, but I think the point is the same. This is the only time anyone purposely breaks wind (or mimics the sound) and it’s for entertainment. But there’s nothing particularly clever about making fart sounds; the most it achieves is some cheap laughter and disgust. It’s the quickest, easiest way of entertaining a few people, and that’s why it’s particularly empty when coming from someone whose job is entertainment.
I think from these mentions we can come up with a theory as to why POV characters don’t fart. Farting marks the man who does it as unintelligent, unhygienic, less than competent, cowardly, and ugly. GRRM wants most of his POV characters to not be seen this way (as for the female POVs, it’s probably because he sexualizes them and fortunately doesn’t find farting attractive); some of the characters where he does (Chett and Merrett Frey), he has piss themselves out of fear. GRRM also uses farting to set a lowbrow comedic tone and break tension, which is only appropriate under certain circumstances. He does take many opportunities to make shit jokes (istumpysk theorizes this is because he is secretly 10. I had thought that due to his breast fixation he was at least 14, but by his own admission he isn’t great at making characters act their age), but usually they are more subtle (Dany’s trip through the House of the Undying, the bird guano on the statues of Baelor/Titan/Daeron I/dragonstone wyverns. The endless jokes about Tywin’s corpse are less so) and have a deeper point (usually that the person/idea they represent is full of shit), but fart jokes are less subtle and varied.
Which brings me to your last question: “Is fart erasure a problem that needs to be tackled in media?” Farting is actually a staple of Toilet Humor, a branch of Gross Out Humor. You’d be hard-pressed to find a stoner/gross-out/sex comedy film that doesn’t have at least one fart joke; it’s not uncommon in kid’s animated films/TV either (though the smarter films put a spin on it, such as Finding Nemo and the scene with the pelicans). Many of these comedies are deemed unfunny, mindless entertainment because it often doesn’t take clever writing to come up with most of these jokes. But that’s also getting into why farting doesn’t happen often in ASOIAF; it’s a staple of lowbrow comedy, not “serious” drama that ASOIAF (especially the later books) desperately wants to be. I suppose GRRM isn’t breaking the mold with his depiction of farting, but he’s less subversive than many people claim he is.

Just as long as I can think of something interesting to say. And maybe make a few terrible jokes.

Fantasy on Ice 2022 Shizuoka Day 3 - What do you mean that's it?
I really don't want to write this, but how else am I supposed to express my thoughts and feelings?! I've already done enough crying and shaking my head in disbelief that the 2022 Fantasy on Ice tour is over.
I was so excited for the live broadcast, I woke up hours before, ready to enjoy every single angle, program and gesture done by Yuzu. I was not thinking that those (roughly) 3 hours were the hours of saying goodbye, I thought of them as the hours of weekly joy.
Have you noticed how in the other shows when the FaOI theme song ends, Yuzu is the only one who has his fist raised instead of the pointer finger? This time, he have himself the☝️. Deservedly so.
The opening took me by surprise - I don't particularly like the song, but the choreography, the costumes and Yuzu made everything work perfectly. That shirt biting... why, Yuzu, why? We love some fan-service, but think of the casualties.
Shirt biting aside, his solo on the electric guitar was so good and fun to watch. It was unexpected and very much welcomed. About the costume, we all know how good Yuzu looks in black (his faithful UA, what would we do without you?), but the red details enhanced the entire look - not to mention the cut of the costume - I'm sure it's deliberately so that Yuzu ALWAYS has shorter hems than the other skaters.
Raison was the much anticipated highlight of this live. I was holding my breath the second Yuzu entered the rink, hands clasped together, heart beating dangerously fast. I was so nervous it felt more like watching a competition than an ice show. When Raison started playing, I took a deep breath and hoped for Yuzu to land all the jumps and to have the time of his life out there on the ice. Once he landed the 3F, I calmed down - a bit. It was an enchanting performance - so emotional, so full of Yuzu-ness. While I can understand why some reports said that it was a "sensual" program, I didn't see it as such, still don't. It's about Yuzu's struggles and emotions, it's beautiful to watch because the choreography incorporates so many elements - casualness, pain, loneliness, hope - I felt all of that and more.
This is my favourite spin out of all (Have we seen Yuzu do those arm variations before? I doubt it)
Of course it had to come to an end - his white sleeve rolled up, his eyes and face content, I wanted to see that side of Yuzu. I knew at that point we haven't seen everything Yuzu had to offer for this last performance. I was impatiently waiting for a Rondo encore - as a lot of us, I suspect, did. The artists coming on stage one by one, Dance my Esmeralda playing, I didn't make the connection at first. Lucky those who did it instantly. Then Yuzu on stage in his skates.
What is he doing on stage?! Oh, is that Yuzu performing a contemporary dance on stage?! In his skates?
Yes, that's where my mind went. I don't even know what was going inside my head, it was all YUZUUUUUU, you're back out!
Was that a cross he made or was it something else when he came off the stage? We'll never know, I guess.
Oh, the beautiful Ina Bauer, those amazingly fast spins, the beautiful Raison costume fluttering around, why is the song familiar? Why are those spins familiar? Why do I know this?! Esmeralda... dead... Paris... wait... Notre Dame... de... Paris?! YUZU?!
As if the clues left here and there throughout the entire tour were not enough to tell us that Yuzu is bringing 2012 back (I think most of you have already seen the 2012 vs 2022 posts I made, but in case you didn't, here, enjoy!).
Yes, Yuzu did as encore Notre Dame de Paris, a piece of music which him, as a 17-18 year-old at the time, admitted to not really understand it. 10 years later, the man does understand this music and the meaning of it. And he shows it to us in a heart-wrenching way. Oh, Yuzu, what have you done to my heart?!
"Yuzuru Hanyu and the artists!"
Thank you for this gift, Yuzu! We'll all cherish it. But would you mind clearly explaining why when you left, the purple sleeve was rolled up? Are you done being lonely? Has happiness finally won over loneliness?
The finale was more emotional than I expected. While I thought Yuzu would be frustrated and go for a wild combo jump (sort of his signature by now) as retaliation for stepping out on the opening's 4T, he didn't. He knelt on the ice, encouraging skaters to display their tricks. I may have been slightly disappointed, but then I thought: "It's Yuzu. He's given his 200% to us both with Raison and with NDP. What more does he need to give?! Nothing."
I was tearing up watching Yuzu take in the atmosphere of the venue, I was tearing up when he was hugging skaters so tightly, he definitely needed that. I was crying when Yuzu was breathing hard, drawing enough air into his lungs to give us a final "ARIGATO GOZAIMASHITA!"
And I am tearing up now, writing this, thankful for the experience that was FaOI 2022. Yuzu, if you're happy - as you have now declared, then so are we, your fans.
Rest well, Yuzu! You've earned it more than anyone else.

This song is GREAT!!! It’s the absolute mumbling that Luke does that makes the rating lower. I have way too much trouble understanding the lyrics.
This got teased at my concert and I lost my fucking mind.

There is one line in this song that just keeps getting stuck in my head. “Bullshit I feed myself / me and my selfish appetite / I did not need your help / Now it’s just me, myself and I” I don’t know why this specific lyric gets me so much, but it does.
Take My Hand – Joshua Tree Version: 9/10
This song has a special place in my heart. It’s so nice, but at the same time so fucking sad (the whole album is kind of sad so no surprises there.)
The voice memo at the end?! When I tell you I screamed the first time I heard that. The single did not have that, so I wasn’t ready.

I don’t really know what my opinion is regarding this song? I don’t hate it, but it’s not my favourite either.
It gets kind of repetitive with the same kind of lyrics. And it starts out kind of sad but then in the chorus it gets very upbeat. It just confuses me, but I do like the general vibes it gives!

Ah the song that send me into absolute tears for a good 10 minutes.
This song is on the vinyl and I both love and hate it. It just keeps breaking my heart, but I would’ve been so sad if they had made this a deluxe track.

I try not to listen to the lyrics of this song too much. Not because I don’t like them, but they hit just a bit too close to home.
This is the last song on the vinyl, and I love that. It ends with the sound of a departing train. Kind of moving on to a next adventure, or a way of saying “this is the end, but we keep moving to another destination.” I like that a lot.

God. Michael’s vocals in the back of this are literally perfection. I’m so glad he gets to show his talent again.
This song, and the others that follow this are all deluxe tracks. I’m kind of sad that my favourite songs aren’t on the vinyl, but at the same time I’m very glad. Because I just know these would absolutely break me even more if I got them on vinyl lmao.

Summary: a truck crushed my heart, but it's okay
This album hit me so hard. It took me about 3 weeks before I listened to it again. But now that I’ve had time to process everything, I love it so much. Yes, it hurts but I don’t mind it. It’s a nice ache that feels kind of healing at the same time.

Relationship status: Single! Kind of dating but no one specific
Favourite colour: Yellow
Favourite food: Pasta (any but like basic stuff ie alfredo/spaghetti/instant ramen/cheese etc)
Song stuck in my head: Bright by Echosmith (have been singing it in my head for a few hours and I have no fucking clue where I heard it recently)
Last thing I googled: "uta vehicle locator" (the public transit system where I live has a real-time vehicle locator on all buses and trains across the state and I rode a bus today- this is frequently one of my most recent searches ngl)
Dream trip: I want to take a roadtrip out somewhere with like one or two of my friends and just drive and hang out with each other and stay in lowkey kind of shitty motels and just exist without any expectations other than being with each other for awhile. I'd also love to go to like DC or Chicago and experience like a big big city someday.
Last book read/currently reading: The LIttle Prince by Atoine de Saint Exupery (Highly fuckin recommend it's poetic and lovely and philosophical and a little existential and a quick read but it's a good vibe I really like it)
Last book enjoyed: Magyk by Angie Sage it's an old comfort book of mine I like reading it every now and then like an old friend
Last book hated: Mismatch by Kat Holmes in large part because I have to read it for class but also because it feels so pretentious as someone who benefits from inclusive design when it's written as though all designers don't need inclusive design and have to be convinced that they should design inclusively- so conceptually it just makes me mad
Favorite thing to cook/bake: Pizza! I also like baking cookies, and I like cooking pasta dishes or making tacos
Most niche dislike: Carpet that hasn't been vacuumed recently on bare feet
Opinions on the circus: I've only ever been to a Chinese acrobatic circus troupe performance and that was cool; not a fan of circus animals being mistreated obviously; I didn't like the Dumbo movie, and those are my only three exposures to anything remotely circus related so there you go
Sense of direction: Good, I'm uncannily good at telling which cardinal direction I'm facing, but I can't tell you which direction it is without relating back to my house cause I can match a direction to the name of said direction that way- every time. I'm really good at remembering directions and undoing what I did to get somewhere in order to get back out, but my sense of cardinal direction is fucking shit when I'm in brand new buildings without a chance to explore it first. This is exactly the reason that I went to my junior high/high schools and my college campus before classes started and just wandered around until I figured everything out and like where shit was. So good outdoors and good indoors once I'm familiar with layout and shit.

biggest wish for season 2? — obviously for stede and ed to eventually talk things through, oh and i think established jim and oluwande would be ADORABLE
