it's the way callum only thought of the cube in the first place because rayla came over and took an interest in his drawing and then drew the primal symbols in his book herself. it's in the way callum only has the damn thing because he convinced rayla that they should make a detour and even when things go south and he's fine with abandoning it, rayla still retrieves it for him (and gets captured and nearly killed as a result). it's in the way callum tells her it's in the game room and she's the one who finds it in a box of toys, the way she asserts, "i hope it was worth it to you, putting everyone's live in danger" for a children's toy. it's the way he messes with it the next day and she tells him "this doesn't end well for you." it's the way the letter that rayla kicked out of his hand is what tells him its connection to aaravos. how rayla walks right when he asks "a key to what?" and ties the game motif right back in. it's the way the one time the cube has actually been helpful to him is highlighting the moon opal in 3x08 in order to help rayla. it's the way soren grabs the cube and it goes between moon and star ceaselessly in the season four premiere. it's the way stella nabs it and then holds it on rayla's shoulder as she steps through, illuminated in light, and distracting callum from the mirror while still bearing the upside down seal of aaravos. it's how when they're on the bridge of darkness, the light is dangerous and they only get attacked because the cube glows from the dropped moon opal that's already been compared to rayla. it's the way callum equates dropping the cube to regaining more agency, inspired by rayla telling him to just choose another path, but he can't. it's how his pawn intro plays again in s5 because he chose the light - he chose rayla - by also choosing darkness, because even though callum worries over a path of darkness, he should also be worried about a path of light - the cube and pearl glow a bright, brilliant white flash after all.

I've been totally side tracked from the oliver x felix fic I'm writing becaaaause of all the oliver x (pretty much every) Catton inspo posts. Like imagine Lord James died when Venetia and Felix where like 10-12. And most of the boyfriends that Elspeth has after that are all like boring hedge fund manager or bank wanker types in their fifties, it rarely lasts and they don't even make it through a week during the summer at Saltburn. So Felix and Venetia never bother making much of an effort.

Then during the summer after Felix's first year of Oxford Elspeth has mid thirties boytoy Oliver staying for the summer. And Felix is appalled at the idea of mother having a boyfriend that's closer to his own age (Venetia: "he's fucking not Felix Jesus he's fifteen years older than you" Felix: "shut up Vee it's still fucking weird" Venetia: "obsessed much"). And Oliver runs around topless in the burning heat while he does laps round the estate and is alway lying around sunbathing and Felix is just salivating while totally ignoring the poor boy he's brought home that summer.

And Oliver reaches out an olive branch to Felix because he's really keen that they be friends ("like you're a grown man Felix I'm not going to try and be your daddy or anything") and Felix is like "cool but also I kind of want you to be my daddy."

Then Venetia and Farleigh hook up with Oliver because they can't help but be drawn to his charm but a la the movie it doesn't go well and it's all a strategy to get to Felix.

And when Oliver finally gets Felix, fucking him through the grief of losing his mother he's so ecstatic, "i fucked where you came from, now i get to fuck you."  

I mean I sort of feel this is how older Oliver would have played his original plan from the movie.

actually natori has some kind of tracking talisman on matoba at all times. that's how he knew where to abduct matoba from for Operation: Kitty Cat City. matoba fully knows about it; it's why he wasn't at all surprised to find a paper doll in natsume's hair after the mask youkai debacle (matoba internally as he watched it fly away: classic mother hen shuuichi-san momence 🥰). because this is matoba "boundaries? what are those? can you eat them?" seiji we're talking about, he's not bothered by this "violation" of his "privacy"; rather, he finds it fittingly clingy (it is, after all, only right that natori should be keeping tabs on him obsessively). sometimes the talisman gets confused and sticks to yesterday's outfit, so he always checks to make sure he has it on the way out the door (his pocket patdown is "keys, lighter, wallet, exorcism supplies, shuuichi-san's cute lil tracker he thinks i don't know about <3"). i wouldn't be surprised if he's figured out how to uno reverse it and now uses it to track natori's location as well. this may not technically be canon but it is probably all 100% true in an important way that transcends canon, we just never hear about it because it isn't relevant to natsume's journey 😌

Hiii welcome to The Thing I’ve Been Working On For Far Too Long !!!! This is an edited map of my WoF Headworld!! This map fallows my personal lore / story for what happens post-books! There are far more ideas I have regarding new structures, how the land changes, etc. , but this was just generally for labeling major locations within each territory! My hope was to wrap this up before the Felid Guide drops so I can compare my map to the canon reveal of locations but I didn’t quite get there and there are still a lot of loose ends. Unfortunately I don’t have much time to work on this anymore and will probably chip away at it privately in pieces , but for now I wanted to share this bit publicly!

The info for the labels on the map are all written out below, but I have primarily complied information in a Google Doc for easier viewing and navigation!
