X thinks he just looks normal.
Grian is convinced he has the jaw of an enderman.
Bdubs is certain that his mouth has been cut open.
To go off of a past one I saw, Impulse's cybernetic eye can see the true form of a Hermit. With the three at the top locked in on their responses, with bets piling up around the server, they asked Impulse to go see.
He never, ever said what he saw, but now every Hermit is scared, as when Etho lowered his mask, while everyone watching saw something pretty normal, Impulse curled up into a ball and began crying.

I love the “Mumbo’s some kind of supernatural creature” headcanons, and I love the “Mumbo’s just a guy” headcanons, but may I propose: “everyone thinks Mumbo is some sort of creature thing but he’s actually just a bit strange”
“His eyes are so red they basically glow!” My guy inhales enough redstone to power a small machine on the daily.
“He’s nocturnal! He’s always up at night!” Insomnia.
“It’s like he teleports! He just appears behind people” he’s just naturally very quiet and people don’t hear him walking up.
“He knows so many random facts, there has to have been around for ages to learn all that” he’s just a nerd.
Mumbo gets nervous anytime someone tries to interrogate him, making the hermits even more suspicious, but in actuality he’s just worried they’ll be disappointed and he’s starting to realise they probably won’t believe him no matter what answer he gives.
There’s a server-wide bet going for who can figure out what he actually is. Grian, who’s known him for years and knows full well that’s he’s 100% mortal and human, shows up and starts egging the hermits on by “dropping hints” as to what he may be, much to Mumbo’s dismay. Grian thinks the bet is utterly hilarious.

so which characters do you personally head cannon to have wings
Other than Grian, the only other hermit/life series character that I headcanon as having wings is Cub! Although he keeps them tucked away most of the time. He and Scar are both infused with Vex magic, but Scar got his wings removed at some point.
As for commonly headcanoned wing havers, here's my headcanons:
False is completely human so has never had wings. But I feel like if she made a statue or painting of herself it would have wings (long way of saying her fursona is a bird of some sort)
Jimmy has some unwelcome watcher traits that he tries to ignore. Though he doesn't have wings (yet...) he does occasionally wake up from confusing prophetic doom dreams surrounded by feathers
Skizz is (surprisingly!) human. However he got wing tattoos based on a joke about being the angel to Impulse's devil. Which Impulse thinks is hilarious (he doesn't)
Ok and then Grian...oh boy I have a mile long list of headcanons on watcher/evo lore that I will SOME DAY get into, maybe, but its like. Its just so much and made purely for an audience of one haha. LONG STORY SHORT: he used to be human, became a watcher, now has light shapeshifting powers where he can shift between his old human form and his true watcher form. He choses a form that's in between, to his liking. Here's some rough designs of how his wings are attached and my continued attempts to nail down a bird feet design that I like 😵💫

Imagine Grian eating like. Super spicy food all the time. Extra hot sauce, stuff loaded with peppers, just straight up peppers.
And because this is Hermitcraft, other hermits try to one-up Grian by eating more and spicier things in front of him. But while Cub is shoving his face into a bucket of milk, Xisuma is gasping and crying on the ground, and Scar is stripping down and jumping into a cold ocean, Grian is just sitting there with a smug grin chomping down on ghost peppers like they're candy.
It becomes a game among the hermits to try to find a pepper or a sauce that will make Grian react. Doc's "Spice Hybrid Inovation Technology" initiative has produced peppers that can't even be measured on the Scoville scale.
But Grian? Never once do his eyes even tear up. His cheeks never turn even the subtle shade of pink.
One day during a meeting, Bdubs looses it. He starts screaming at Grian demanding to know what trick Grian has up his sleeve, what sabotage he's doing to their efforts to find something spicy enough to make him sweat.
But during Bdubs' tirade, Pearl burst out laughing. They all turn to her and accuse her of being in on the conspiracy. Once she finally calms down, she simply says,
"What? It's not my fault you guys didn't know."
"Didn't know what!" Bdubs demands.
And for some of them it clicks. Their are groans and facepalms throughout the group, but just as many confused looks.
Grian takes a sip from his bottle of Atomic Destruction. His face finally cracks, but this time its because he's the one bursting into laughter now.
"Hello?" Pearl says and points at Grian’s wings. "Parrot hybrid?"
Through the tears of his laughter, Grian finally comes clean.
"Birds can't taste capsaicin."

my friend made me realize that i haven't widely shared my Grian headcanon in AGES. HoH/Tinnitus Grian. Dealer's choice; from the shoot-outs in YHS or from explosions in EVO. he's an exploding little guy okay. He has hearing-aids.
the thing is. that batteries drain faster in high altitudes and obviously he FLIES. A LOT. so he just puts the batteries everywhere around the servers. including on people
he just grabs Mumbo by the shoulders, and then gets out two little dot batteries from Mumbo's shirt collar. he just starts DIVE BOMBING people eventually. it's beautiful

hermitcraft crack headcanon: Ren is a werewolf, yes. Which means that every full moon he turns into a wolf. But like... a minecraft wolf. Who can be tamed with bones. And his "tamed" quality resets every time he shifts back.
Other hermits occasionally compete to be the first one to "tame" Ren for the month, and brag about how few bones they had to use. (Ren claims to remember none of this but if you pranked him recently it's going to take a lot more bones than usual.) The current record holder is Doc, who only had to use three, but Bdubs stubbornly holds that it doesn't count and that Doc cheated by giving Ren a shulker of fully-oxidized copper the day before.
Xisuma quietly added a new advancement to the server that Ren still hasn't found out about. But every month, it'll pop up in chat: "____ has made the advancement [Best Cyber-Diggity-Dogs Forever]".

Honestly one thing I really wish I saw more of in the Trafficblr/Hermitcraft fandom is Grian with brown eyes.
Grian’s “beady, soulless black eyes” have been a running joke for a long time- but people still often draw him with green/yellow/red (traffic life) or purple (watchers) or any number of eye colors.
But here’s the thing. I have brown eyes. I’ve received those exact same comments thousands of times about my eyes, how “soulless” and voidlike they are and that people can’t tell my eye color, especially in photos.
I know a lot of people online make posts about “honey brown” or brown eyes in lighting, but I think we need more representation of brown eyes so brown they’re black. He’s the perfect blorbo for this in my opinion- he’s LITERALLY the phrase “looks at you with my big brown eyes”

10th Season has messed up Grians understanding and sense of day and night period, meaning he no longer follows his "early bird" moto, but rather "all over the place bird".
You will see Scar drag him to bed more often than not at late night hours, Grian won't bat an eye as long as he can still reach the waters with the rod.
He can be picked up as a lego piece by how long hours has he just stood in place.

i think that when grian laughs really hard he hits things with his wings. like not just flapping and knocking things off shelves (though he does that too), but he like slams his wings into mumbo's back, or he just fucking decks scar with his wing, completely knocking him over. he just cant fucking control himself he has to Hit Someone

Yes, I'm aware Grian is Xelqua, but it's also funny to have him use the name in the place of words like God.
Monkey see, monkey do after all.
He noticed the other hermits using the watchers names in that way, and started doing it to blend in.
Which yes, does end up in him quite literally cursing his own name sometimes, but at least he blends in!

Thinking about armour stands in HermitCraft
I love when hermits include armour stands in their builds and I headcanon it as a very intricate craft, creating the mannequin’s structure and their faces.
But I was also thinking about the faces that they choose…
A very overwhelming majority of armour stands on HermitCraft feature the other server member’s faces. Yknow how they say that when we see people in our dreams, it’s actually a face we’ve seen before because our brains are incapable of coming up with new ones?
I think a huge part of Minecraft in general is the loneliness. It’s not a bad loneliness, just the knowledge that you’re the only person in this infinite world. That’s a bit different in multiplayer servers because you see people and the things they create; but at the end of the day, HermitCraft only has 26 members and that’s not a lot of people.
Singleplayer survival worlds rarely feature armour stands as decoration. When they do, they use mob heads, because the player has never seen another human’s face.
I think there’s a ton of headcanon potential here. Something about Cleo spending hours learning how to sew/carve/paint another players face, then repeating that one face so many times it’s second nature. Teaching that technique to Scar, who seems to know exactly how to pose the mannequin frames to make them look alive (there’s definitely some elf magic involved). Tango creating his own armour stands with conductive materials so he can hook them up to redstone.
I just loove worldbuilding and unique crafts and minecraft’s lonely atmosphere… I’d love to hear some other peoples headcanons about armour stands!

What does redstone poisoning do?
WARNING for body horror elements. The worst of it is below the cut.
The poisoning takes shape differently for everyone. It slowly replaces you, taking over your body till you are a part of the machine. Before redstone was known to be a toxin, it was used in all sorts of household items. Fortunately, it's not toxic if you don't come in direct contact with the dust. Which is only fortunate for those who don't...
There are preventative measures that can be taken. Avoiding contact with the dust directly by making sure skin is covered by gloves. Goggles can prevent any getting into the eyes, and a mask prevents it from invading the respiratory system. As well as drinking more water and washing yourself off after contact. There's been PSAs over the dangers over time, but they came too late for those who discovered those dangers to begin with.
The first symptoms are often small. Blood that seems brighter than usual, or maybe glitters. Joints that feel stiff, or skin that's hard when pressed down on. Players often suffer nausea or headaches as their body attempts to fight off the poison. At this stage, it can be treated. Many of the hermits, in fact, helped pioneer these treatments. But their experience came at a cost.
Doc: when he received his cybernetics he had to go through a whole process of Redstone safety when it can access your bloodstream. Thankfully, due to the fact he's a creeper and needs very different minerals than human players, he can get away with more Redstone in his system than anyone else. It's a necessary evil, so he'll pretend those wires don't seem to be a tiny bit longer than when they were first installed...
Mumbo: Having come in contact with redstone at such a young age, Mumbo became an example of the dangers. His veins pulse red and glow an ambient light. His eyes reflect light in the dark as if he were something entirely inhuman. His skin crumbles like dust, leaving behind scrapes which glitter with the dust. He's found himself reacting to sculk sensors, and severely affected by lag, sometimes causing his movements to rubber band or repeat.
Tango: He was one of the first players to work with redstone, making watches and clocks. Similar to Mumbo, he used no protection at all. So the poisoning slowly replaced him, until he was encased in metal. It was too risky to try and remove the poison at the stage, so with Tango's consent, they chose to work with what they had. He's now adapted to work with the redstone, which Tango thinks is pretty cool. He does make sure Zed is always wearing his protection, though.
Etho: Despite Etho's history with redstone, the only thing outwardly changed is his eye. No, Etho's symptoms run deep. They're only revealed when he's injured, and doesn't bleed at all. Instead, looking into the wound will reveal the mangled wires and components, twitching and pulsing. Etho's found his connection with redstone is so strong, now, that he can sense it sometimes beneath the surface.
