Congrats to the ultimate winner of the Hot & Vintage Movie Men Tournament, Mr. Toshiro Mifune! May he live happily and well where the sun always shines, enjoying the glories of a battle hard fought.
A loving farewell to all of our previous contestants, who are now banished to the shadow realm and all its dark joys and whispered horrors—I hear there's a picnic on the village green today. If you want to remember the fallen heroes, you can find them all beneath the cut.
What happens next? I'll be taking a break of two weeks to rest from this and prep for the Hot & Vintage Ladies Tournament. I'll still be around but only minimally, posting a few last odes to the hot men before transitioning into a little early ladies content, just like I did with this last tournament. The submission form for the Hot & Vintage Ladies tournament will remain up for one more week (closing February 21st), so get your submissions in for that asap! Once the form closes, there will be one more week of break. The first round of the Hot & Vintage Ladies Tournament will be posted on February 29th, as Leap Year Day seems like a fitting allusion to leaping into these ladies' arms.

Movie Questions Ask Game:
2. What was your favorite film as a child?
It was definitely Blake Edward's The Great Race (1965). My parents had recorded it on Betamax tape. It had amazing colour saturated picture quality even though few scratches were captured. To use the VCR was a mission every time because fast forward and fast rewind weren't functioning normally. Sometimes the player used to rewind until you slapped it. Sometimes several slaps were needed so you started watching frowning and hand hurting. Jack Lemon as Professor Fate, Tony Curtis as The Great Leslie (his name need to be pronounced with thick American accent), Natalie Wood as Maggie Dubois and Peter Falk as Maximilian Meen are stuck in my head. I loved the adventurous story and the dialogue, Lemon's moustache and grumpiness, Wood's Daisy-doll-like dresses, Curtis's whole white outfit, Henry Mancini's music and oh my the sword fight scene.
15. What is the funniest movie you've seen?
The funniest movie must be Three Men and a Baby (1987). I watched it last winter and noticed the parts, which used to make our older sister laugh and that made me laugh: Tom Selleck trying to get the police alarm from streets turn down by standing in front of the window arms outstretched and a pillow in one arm 😂 naturally the hairy chest revealing from open shirt. All that 1980's way of thinking what is trendy. A relaxed life-style of single men turning upside down with a surprise baby and yet trying to find a partner in their life.

Understanding Artists' Books
The Paul D. Fleck Library & Archives holds over 5,000 artists' books - and the collection continues to grow through a combination of donations and purchases every year.
But what is an artists' book?
Well, part of the (usually exciting) challenge of artists' books is that they're difficult to define. For the Emily Carr University Art and Design library, the artists' book collection "encompasses books conceived, crafted, published, produced or altered by an artist, designer or collective with the intention of creating an independent art work ." But for the Smithsonian Library, "[a]n artist’s book is a medium of artistic expression that uses the structure or function of 'book' as inspiration—a work of art in book form." Our collection sits somewhere in between, encapsulating works in both of these definitions - and some works that are beyond either. In our library, you'll find do-it-yourself zines and handmade chapbooks from small presses, sculptural pieces, weavings, objects, comic art, flipbooks, and dozens of other specific forms.
Our collection began in 1985, when the director of the Walter Phillips Gallery, Lorne Falk, handed Bob Foley (Banff Centre's first full-time librarian) a suitcase's worth of artists' books and said, "These are yours, you should do something with them." Through a meeting with AA Bronson, an artist who founded Art Metropole and the New York Art Book Fair, Foley expanded the collection by developing relationships with publishers and distributors. Since then, the collection came to include artists such as Dieter Roth, Ed Ruscha (whose artists' book Every Building on the Sunset Strip inspired the creation of this tumblr page!), Barbara Kruger, Joseph Beuys, Mieko Shiomi, Yoko Ono, Gertrude Stein, and John Cage.
