holy shit I just had a CRAZY Ludinus endgame theory
(spoilers thru c3e89)
we learned in e89 that Ludinus is building something on Ruidus
we know that the Ruby Vanguard have promised the loyal Reilorans that they will be relocated to Exandria when the mission is fulfilled
we also know that Ludinus's prior inventions include a siphon for sucking the powers and indeed liveforces out of other creatures, and that this is how he's survived so long
What if the huge device/machine/THING that's he's building is a MASSIVE siphon to draw the lives/power from everyone on the moon??? What if the value of 10s of thousands of Ruidian lives (Reiloran and otherwise) is, to him, enough lifeforce to propel him to godhood? Or, conversely, what if it's enough lifeforce to break open a local divine (prison) gate and feed that power into Predathos (wither-and-bloom style)?
Also a tickle at the back of my mind says the Somnovem plot in Aeor and Ludinus's plot here are... if not actually parallel, then at least rhyming in the basics. (Dunamancy got us into this mess, let's pray to the Luxon that Dunamancy gets us out.)

I love the Capaldi era, but I'm instinctively skeptical of the idea that the Capaldi era wasn't as popular, particularly on Tumblr, because The Doctor wasn't young and hot anymore. To me it reeks of sexism accusing teenage girls of being shallow and only liking nerd stuff if it has cute boys in it, which is unfair. I think the real reasons there is perceived to be a decline in popularity during the Capaldi era was
a.A lot of people were still measuring Doctor Who's popularity in tv ratings rather than streaming and tv ratings were declining across the board creating the illusion of more of a decline than there was
b.Doctor Who was also taken off Netflix during this period.
c.By this point the idea that Steven Moffat is a cartoonish supervillain who tortures puppies for fun was so engrained that even the absolute peak fiction that was the Capaldi era with it's often progressive politics couldn't reverse it.
d.people grumbling about how it's gone downhill is basically inevitable with any long running franchise
I'm not necessarily saying that wasn't at least a small factor though. Like if The Doctor had been played by two hot young women in a row and been replaced by a woman in her 50s there would probably have been some straight and bi men who stopped watching.
All this is preamble to saying that on the off chance I'm wrong and people not crushing on Capaldi was the real reason, than the Capaldi era was ahead of it's time because if it had come out when Tumblr was at the height of it's "posting about wanting to fuck old men" era it would have been the peak of the show's popularity on Tumblr

Propaganda
Jeremy Brett (My Fair Lady)—"...he was beautiful. A strange adjective to use in describing a man. I use it not to suggest effeminacy or a kind of male prettiness, but in the same way I would use it to describe a throughbred stallion, Michelangelo's David or Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. There was with Jeremy Huggins [Brett's non- stage name] a perfection and sublime symmetry in his features that was beautiful." [quote from "Bending the Willow" by David Stuart Davies]
Gene Kelly (Singin’ in the Rain, An American in Paris, The Pirate)—It’s hard to know where to start with Gene Kelly because he did so, so much, of such a high quality, from the ballet scenes in “An American in Paris” to the classy suave movie star act of “Singin’ in the Rain” to the incredibly camp, sexy “The Pirate”. He just never stopped finding cool ways to do things and he’s just brilliant to watch, especially when he’s dancing, but even when he’s doing drama or being silly! He’s one of those guys who could genuinely do it all and just radiates charisma through the screen, literally an #icon in every sense of the word.
This is round 4 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.

"he was genuinely kind and supportive to judy garland when she was going through a rough time. she was having heavy trauma/addiction responses in 'Summer Stock' which led to her being late all the time and being too scared to come on set, and he actually faked twisting his ankle to distract everyone from her and give her some time off! so yeah, maybe he was a hardass, but when his friend needed him he was 100% there for her, and I think that's worth noting."
