Why can't you wear eyeliner? Eyes too sensitive? (/gen, that's why I can't wear anything more than mascara, so if so, I empathize) You'd look really good in it. ❤️
My eyes are super crazy hooded :'D I've tried finding tutorials for how to work work with that but none of them are as hooded as mine so the techniques they use won't work... The entire upper eye and eyelid space pretty much vanishes under my eyebrow....
I've never even been able to find an example of my eye situation so here's a drawing (I should've marked the middle eye as "typical hooded eye or eye w/epicanthal fold" but closed Paint too soon):
Tumblr media
Harrison Ford's eyeshape is pretty close though:
Tumblr media
Tutorials for people with epicanthal folds have actually been the most helpful but I don't have the real estate between the upper part of the eye and the eyebrow to make it work either... Like in this tutorial a section is shaded in that space to create an outline for the upper eye/lid:
Tumblr media
I could maybe find a way to make it work some day but I'm not a huge makeup-wearing person to begin with so it's no biggie tbh :P
Thank you, also!! ^^

i want know tori's makeup tutorial so bad, she just looks so pretty
I actually love this ask sm.. anyways 16yr old 2011 tori vs present day Tori (2023)
2010’s: Prob doesn’t use any face makeup unless if it’s for a “special occasion” maybe a little concealer for her eye bags and a little contour but nothing much. Also very matt, like, setting powder/powder foundation everywhere.
She prob also did her brows with a pencil, again not much bc she has already thick full brows imo.
For her eyes just a thick simple line with a short wing, and mascara and only sometimes she puts dark neutral eyeshadows.
Lips weren’t rlly important to her, prob didn’t do anything other than a chapstick or a light pink matt nude lipstick if she even felt like it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2020’s:
Ig she would do a natural dewy makeup look since that’s what most ppl do..
Same here for her face not much, prob only uses colour correctors and a tinted sunscreen with some red/plum cream blush. Sets her face with a loose powder a bit everywhere and put on a bit of bronzer with some highlighter on the tip of her nose and bridge.
Brows she prob just uses a tinted eyebrow gel and that’s it
For her eyes I’d say she does a pretty modern winged eyeliner, maybe a bit of a bat wing bc of her hooded eyes but not huge. Curls her lashes (a lot) and puts bottom and top mascara bla bla bla.
Lips would be a red vampy colour lipgloss or a lip tint :)
um. unsolicited makeup advice under the cut btw.
- blush placement is fucking vital you want it to be higher up around your eyes and your temple area and to blend it closer to your nose from there. put a bit on the nose as well it looks cute. and blend it out as much as possible or it looks bad.
- if you want a natural look go for all neutral colors like brown and black and beige and muted red. if you want a fun look pick up some cheap concealer a couple shades too light and use that for eyeshadow primer. i promise it makes it so much easier to do eyeshadow just put a swipe on your upper lid and blend it out then use fun colors
- dont underestimate the power of dollar store makeup some of my best makeup is dollar store makeup. expensive does not equal good often its shit quality and youre only paying for the brand name!
- try out makeup tutorials from diff parts of the world! some of my favorite makeup tips came from like douyin and shit
- for a more edgy look use black eyeliner around the eye (go light on the upper lid go heavy on the lower) then use a liquid black eyeliner to draw exaggerated lashes under it. for a softer more natural look use brown eyeshadow for liner around the eye (go light on both except at the outer corner go really heavy there) then use the eyeshadow to draw little lashes under it.
- look at your irises. figure out the shade then find a color wheel and look for the opposite. get that shade in shadow and apply a bit in the corners of your eyes to make them pop
- put highlighter in the corners of your eyes and blend it up into your shadow it makes it look nice
- you really dont want your contour to be too dark it will make you look like you have a beard. literally just get a nude palette from the dollar store and use a shade a couple shades darker than your skin. if you have dark skin get a darker shade of concealer
- if you have dark skin purples and oranges (depending on whether you have cool or warm undertones, just kinda fuck around w both see what looks good) are your friend. if a light skin person says a makeup color is weird and fucked up and looks bad its probably made for you not them.
- look for makeup influencers with a similar shade of skin to you when buying products they know whats chalky and ashy and what looks good. but be generally wary of light pink blushes they usually either dont show up or are pure glitter and not that useful as blush or look chalky as shit
- if you have hooded eyes and eyeliner is fucking you up dont close your eyes when you do it. or do a puppy eye rather than a cat eye (rounded liner that comes to a little point at the corner) puppy eyes look good even if your eyes arent hooded actually mess around see what you like
- find makeup looks you like online and fuck around try to recreate them youll often reverse engineer good techniques from doing this
- sometimes teenagers from 2010 in their bedrooms using one of those old elf 100 color palettes have good advice actually. but sometimes its horrible and you absolutely should not listen to it
- if you put eyeliner in your waterline (pull down your lower lid and out it in the wet edge of the lid, pull up the upper lid and do the same) make sure to wash it out thoroughly or else itll build up and fuck your eyes up trust me
- you can do whatever you want forever
reblog w your own tips if you want
Oh also some general all-purpose makeup tips (source: I used to have to do heavy show makeup; disclaimer: I am TME and decently pale and I don’t know what you’re looking for wrt specifics)
- clean your brushes/tools/sponges regularly to avoid bacterial accumulation and discoloring
- if you tend to have sensitive skin, do a little test patch of makeup on your inner wrist before covering your face in something. Better to find out you’ll get a small rash on your wrist than one all over your cheeks and nose and and and [also if you have allergens check the ingredients]
- makeup wipes are important, I like Neutrogena’s because they tend to be good for sensitive skin
- some people use miscellar water + cotton pads/balls. I don’t know what the difference is between that and regular wipes I think it’s a matter of personal preference?
- regular soap and water usually won’t cut it for makeup removal, because a lot of makeup these days tends to be made to resist being sweated off or resist removal in other ways. Makeup removal tools (wipes, micellar water (spelling?), etc) are built to Actually Remove It
- not removing makeup can leave your pillow case a mess and also irritate your skin so try your best to get as much off before you go to bed
- start small. I rarely did makeup before having to do show makeup and I found it overwhelming to have to learn an entire face routine. Learn how to apply lipstick and play with that before moving on to eyebrows and play there and so on and so forth
- do also try figuring out a routine that works for you — practicing just eyes or just nose is good for honing specifics, but you’ll probably want to leave the house with more than just a shiny nose, so practice a full face every so often as well
- figure out what kind of facial features you have and look up makeup tutorials with those in mind. I think you mentioned you had hooded eyelids? You can look up eyeshadow tutorials for hooded eyelids specifically, or for strong/weak jaws, or for pointed/flat/hooked/small/large/etc noses, or any other feature you have
- it’s most hygienic to avoid sharing eye makeup or lipstick with other people because mouths and eyes have bodily fluids and can spread germs more easily than, say, blush for the cheeks or bronzer for the forehead
- figure out what shades of makeup work best for your skin tone. Sometimes at the store you can test out a little bit on yourself before you buy, which is technically not allowed but to my knowledge rarely enforced. There are ways online to figure out if you have a warm/cool/neutral undertone, but you can also compare shades and figure out which you prefer
- I recommend retail pharmacies/drugstores [I am however USAmerican so idk if that’s applicable to you] for starting out because they have cheap makeup sets that will help you get used to the process and mechanics behind makeup before you drop half paycheck on Ultra Super Deluxe Buzzword Blast Eyeshadow Bronzer Palette and then realize you aren’t sure how to apply it + you can play around with cheap drugstore makeup and not feel like you’re wasting it
- a lot of people are saying “just do what you want!! There are no rules!!” which, while true, is not especially helpful, but it does help to keep in mind that you can forgo X Y or Z and end up okay, especially if you’re still figuring out what you do/don’t enjoy. There are a lot of different products (liquid/pen eyeliner, lipstick/stain/liner, etc) and while some people swear up and down by one, you might find that specific tool/product/technique doesn’t work for you. This is not a reflection of you or value or anything; it’s (sometimes literally) just different strokes for different folks
- color correction! The NikkiTutorials video gets into this more but if you have bluish coloring on your cheeks/jaw from facial hair shadow, you can apply a little bit of orange to balance it out. I have a very red face, so a little bit of green balances that out. Granted Nikki and I both have very light skin so YMMV
- when you apply lipstick, take a napkin or toilet paper or tissue and put it between your lips and press down on it. You may see a kiss mark — do this once or twice more until you aren’t leaving a dark kiss mark. This process I thiiiiiiink is called blotting? Don’t quote me on that. But it helps remove excess lipstick and helps you avoid leaving lipstick marks on other places, like mugs or cups
- a lot of “beginner makeup tutorials,” while not being for trans women specifically, can still be useful in that they’ll teach you mechanics and specifics for “what exactly is contouring” and “how do I figure out which shade of lipstick is best for my skin tone” or “should I use setting spray or setting powder”
- that’s about all I got. Good luck have fun
tysm actually
AYEEEE I LOVE DRUGSTORE MAKEUP TOO it’s def underrated and it’s way better imo, do u have any tips on doing eyeliner? i’ve been wanting to do it since my freshman year and i’m in my junior year still struggling 😭 the tutorials don’t help either like omg i think i’m the problem atp (i also have hooded eyes 🤬🤬)
my best tip, even though it sounds lame, is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. look straight into the mirror and rest your wrist on your cheek, then follow your bottom lash line up! also, start practicing with black eyeshadow and an angled brush first! it’s very forgiving :)
hi beloved!! ok so first off, remember makeup isn’t about covering up your feature but rather enhancing them and expressing yourself!! (i am sure you are gorgeous talia!)
so first thing i recommend to do is find out your face shape, eye shape, and just learn about your features overall. different makeup looks drastically different on you based on these! for example, eyeliner looks can look very different based on if you have a monolid, hooded eyes, etc. so it’s best to do some research on your features to see what kind of looks what suit you best! i also recommend looking up tutorials of people with similar features to you so you can see how certain makeup looks would appear on you and just overall youtube tutorials will be your best friend!!!
next, if you don’t already, please take care of your skin!! skincare is essential to have your makeup looking good and not damaging your skin. you don’t need a super complicated routine at all, just washing your face, a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer will do! but please see what kind of skin type you have, and if your skin needs more than that, feel free to adjust accordingly!
last tip for now is drugstore makeup is so so good and i cant stress this enough!! esp if your just starting out, it’s the best to be able to use affordable makeup! elf, maybelline, covergirl, & loreal are some of my fav brands! please please please check out your local cvs! they have so many good dupes of popular products for the fraction of the price!!
that’s all for now gorgeous! if you have any more specific makeup or fashion related questions feel free to shoot me an ask!! i’ll be more than happy to respond 💗
omg yesss i can’t find a style of eyeliner that looks good on my eyes and i hate it so much. i feel like i have such a skewed perception of my face that i don’t even really know what i look like at this point is that makes sense??
and for my skincare i def need a more powerful moisturizer because one of my acne medications that i got like a year ago still dries out my face So Much (i also have no idea what type of skin i have like dry or oily and now it feels too late to ask anyone because it’s embarrassing that i don’t know)
What about 50 with Armin ? [The other character(s) involved is/are up to you]
Tysm 😘
Drunk Drabbles 50: "This is girl talk, so leave.” Here you are, Val! Avec Armin as you requested.
Girl Talk Characters: Levi, Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Sasha, Jean, Connie, Historia Word Count: 686 words
Levi stood in the shadow of the old storehouse. Peering from beneath his cloak, he surveyed the empty streets of Trost. The sky was hung heavily with grey; the promise of an impending storm.
He lowered his hood and retreated back inside the building where he had left the younger recruits. All were crowded under one of the brick arches which ran abreast of the long, dimly lit room. As Levi approached, the clamour of their voices grew even louder.
“You can’t apply foundation that thickly,” Mikasa was scolding Historia, “look, you’ve left a tidemark on his neck. You need to blend it further down, like this.” She leaned down to rub the skin of Armin’s neck with two outstretched fingers.
“This isn’t a fucking makeup tutorial!” Eren exploded, his voice echoing around the storehouse’s lofty ceiling. “If we don’t split up now the anti-personnels will just ambush us!”
“Hate to admit it but Jaeger’s right,” Jean sighed, “can’t he just go like that? I can’t even see a tidemark.”
Levi stood listening in quiet disbelief.
“You know, maybe you two should just go on ahead then,” Armin tried genially, despite the tremor in his voice, “after all this is girl talk, so leave, why don’t you?”
“I’ll hurry this up!” Eren dived upon the makeup bag which Historia was clutching. He withdrew a mascara wand and brandished it at Armin’s face.
“Tell me how to do it!” he demanded.
As Mikasa stepped aside, Levi could see Armin seated upon a wooden chair, his hands clutching his knees. He was dressed in a white blouse which clashed horribly with the clownish shade of orange coating his face. A long, cotton peasant skirt fell from his waist past his ankles. He was eyeing Sasha who had been clicking an eyelash curler experimentally at him whilst Eren advanced upon him with the mascara.
“Sasha, I’m begging you… let me do my eyes myself. It’s standard procedure when applying makeup, I believe. I- I’ve read books…”
“But I’ll try my best!” Sasha assured him with a particularly emphatic click of the curler, “um, how many eyelashes do you not need?”
“Don’t pull too many,” Mikasa warned her. “He still needs to be able to blink.”
“Uncanny…” Levi breathed, thinking back to the long night he and Hange had spent extracting various parts of Sannes’ face. He shook the memory from his mind with a quiet grunt of disapproval.
“Oi.”
All heads turned towards him.
“I told you to never congregate in a group! It’s not safe.” Levi swept out an arm, sending the group scattering like a flock of birds. “Get out of here now!”
As Connie stumbled last out of the door, Levi glared once more at Armin. To the boy’s surprise, he lifted the makeup bag and inspected its contents carefully. Then Levi withdrew an eyeliner pen.
“Stay still.”
Armin could scarcely believe it as Captain Levi, Humanity’s Strongest, grasped him by the chin. He tilted Armin’s head upwards and, holding the eyeliner in his free hand, bit down and tore off the cap.
“Close your eyes,” he slurred over the plastic cap held between his teeth. Trembling, Armin obliged. Gently, Levi drew a small black flick upon the boy’s eyelid. It was all Armin could do to suppress a flinch.
“You just want to sweep it across the lid,” Levi advised, gently adorning Armin’s other eye. The young scout made a small, nervous sound in reply.
“And if the others ask, I was not part of this girl talk shit. I have a reputation to uphold, Arlet. One word and I’ll force feed you the entire contents of this bag.”
Bonus: Outside, Jean was tugging a dark, brown wig over his sand-coloured hair. He ruffled the top of his head and then stood back to check the effect in a shop window. Swearing, he hurled the item to the dusty pavement.
“I’m not wearing this! I look nothing like you anyway!” he snarled. Eren, who was slouched by the adjoining wall, gave a shrug.
“Exactly. That’s cause I don’t look like a fucking farm animal.”
My askes are always open. So who you gonna call? 👉 Drabble challenge.
I'm so sick of social media and the socialmedia-fication of every internet platform with crowd generated content. I'm so sick of all those short clips. And auto play. We are so obsessed with looks. We are so sick with the aesthetification of every aspect of life. We are trained on certain images and scripts the way we try to train AI. Our heads are spinning with pretty pictures we've seen a thousand times. I'm so sick. And we are also looking for orientation and validation like little puppies. We are so anxious, so endlessly insecure. And there is a MASS of young people displaying themselves on the internet like zoo animals. If there is a single video with a viral reaction, I want that too. I have to participate, because the people have not heard it from me. "Someone has already done this" is not a reason to not post my own damn little vertical video about it.
I don't want the perfect bun, the perfect messy bun, the perfect lazy bun, the perfect way to apply eyeliner to hooded eyelids. How to grow your nails long (spoiler, don't use your hands). Did you know? type of content. No, I did not and my life is not better for knowing now!!!! I want a tutorial on how to do a thing or a recipe for a cake or pretty pokemon art on pinterest, maybe one or two outfit ideas, mostly though i want diy tips for home renovation. Shut up with your trends. I don't care what clothes men don't like, what hair styles trend 2023. And please let me just fucking age. It's already too late anyway for my forehead wrinkles. Stop showing me content I don't seek out actively and ethusiastically, ever heard of consent??? Stop showing me pretty stuff!!!! Stop reposting tiktok thirst traps and aesthetic content on other platforms. Or do, but only to make fun of it. Let me dress goblin style, I just want to be comfortable.
I love tumblr so much. I can just talk about my hobbies, shitpost and don't have to see pretty people all the time, that is so good for my mental health (i love y'all but please keep the text content coming and your pretty little faces hidden). I miss forums.
Vast parts of the internet have become unusable. So going caveman seems more and more appealing every day. This is not a place of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here… nothing valued is here. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.
