u were reading 100 years of solitude iirc, what did you like about it? Started recently and I cannot decide whether I love or hate it lol

it was a little slow at the start for me lol but I liked how whimsical it was in some moments and grounded in reality in others. I love magical realism- I also loved how it painted such an in depth and unusual portrait of each person in the family. I like stories about characters who are very flawed and obviously it’s about a very very flawed family, and stories about familial cycles and patterns which is a huge theme. I also really enjoyed the scale of the novel- it being set over 100 years and how much can change in that time.
