Were none of you gonna warn me on the fact that Fox and Thorn’s paint jobs are just opposites of each other. When one’s drenched with red, the other leaves it white. When blank plastoid is exposed, the other will cover it with red. They're half of each other's souls, Scoob.

Please don't answer this if it's spoiler, but I really want to know what Ronan's thoughts were as he was dying. I assume that he must've been sedated and everything, but what were his last thoughts as a ghost while seeing the MC just sobbing over his body
it's tormenting, plain and simple. to have no power over the pain that racks your body, making you unable to even talk properly, much less move. and what was a greater pain to the good medic, lawrence abernathy, than laying down and wasting away like so many of his patients with the same illness? it was seeing his faithful lover wasting away with him.
laurie still remembers your concerned frown slowly becoming an expression permanently etched on your face, taking the place of your bright smile and supportive gazes. you had told laurie over and over to leave, that staying in london won't do him any good. but he couldn't... he couldn't leave his patients just like that.
he couldn't leave you.
now he's paying his price. a price for his foolish personal loyalty. a price of your precious tears that you cry over him every day as you witness his life slipping away with every breath he takes.
“laurie,” you would whisper in the dark of the night when you thought that your sick lover couldn't hear you. “i don't want to be alone again.”
he wishes he could tell you that loneliness won't be coming to you anytime soon. that he will be okay in no time and then fulfill the promise of taking you to his village and having his mother finally meet you. alas, laurie's throat is unable to get the words out and when he feels you drifting off to an uneasy sleep, a black streak of tear runs down from his left eye.
everything comes crashing down again when laurie sees you sobbing the next morning, clutching his nearly lifeless body close to your chest.
“laurie,” you weep. “laurie. laurie.”
he watches—his sould detaching from his body with every second—as you cradle him, crying tears of blood. laurie can feel an echo of them hit his cheek, like cool red droplets of rain.
you hold him so close that he can feel the faint beating of your heart, like the wings of a butterfly. you refuse to eat. you refuse to sleep. you refuse to do anything but stay by his side.
laurie watches as the person he loved—no, loves—so painfully, withers away from inside. he watches as you become the shell of a person you used to be. he watches as you blame the gods, the world, and most of all, yourself.
souls could feel pain, and laurie's was feeling it all tenfold. he reaches out, incorporeal body trying its best to not pass through your shaking figure.
“i swear it, my daisy, we'll meet again.”

it is the greater grief, after all,
to be left on earth
when another
is gone

I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.

when i say the song of achilles is my favorite book i dont mean in the “hehe i LOVE this book” way
i mean this book has changed the way i perceive love, anguish, passion, grief, rage, euphoria, and every emotion in between.
i mean that it has changed the way i read, the way i think, and the way i write
this is the only book that can make me choke up just by thinking about it
saying it is my favorite book is such an understatement and i dont have the words to describe my adoration for this novel.
