Book Review #98 of 2019:
Tumblr media
Busted by Gina Ciocca. Rating: 3.0 Stars.
Reread from November 3 to November 6.
I’m going to keep this review short since I read the book when it came out last year and wrote a lengthy review. I really enjoyed it when it came out, but it came out in January--despite the fact that it’s full of Christmasy vibes. So, I felt like I needed to reread it closer to Christmas to get the full effect. I finally got around to the reread this year and I really enjoyed it. It felt like a Hallmark movie with teenagers. A lot of drama and Christmas scenes (and the romance, of course).
I will say that it was really easy to read and it felt good to read, but there are times when the book loses the plot. It gets really muddy around page 100 and doesn’t really clear up until page 300. I think that mostly has to do with the characters coming to conclusions without enough information for the reader to put it together. It feels like information the reader should have been given beforehand so they could come to these conclusions as well.
However, there are a lot of Christmas scenes to be found in this book if you’re already in the mood for it. I loved the Christmas tree farm that one of the main characters works at. And I would LOVE to see an old barn strung up with Christmas lights on a snowy night. Be still my Christmas loving heart. This book really got me in the Christmas mood, but I don’t think I’ll be rereading it next year. Hopefully I can find some good Christmas books to put on the TBR for next Christmas season. If you have any recommendations, my inbox is always open.

When the lights go out at a Georgia high school football game, Macy Atwood finds herself in the arms of a boy who kisses her senseless – but is gone by the time the lights come back on. All she knows is that there was something special – and oddly familiar – about her mystery kisser. Noah Granger, Ridgedale’s resident bad boy and newest transfer student, has no problem taking credit for the kiss, but Macy can’t shake the feeling that he’s lying. Especially since a photograph of Macy and former star football player Joel Hargrove resurfaced online moments before the blackout, a not-so random reminder of how hard she fell for Joel last year. And how doing so ultimately sent her lifelong friendships with Meredith Kopala and Ben Collins up in literal smoke. Soon junior year’s wounds begin to reopen as Macy realizes the events that unfolded are somehow tied to her mystery kisser. Discovering how means finally facing what really went wrong with Meredith, Ben, and Joel – and finding out what Noah is covering up. But the closer Macy gets to figuring it all out, the more she starts to worry that the boy who kissed her in the dark and the boy who is stealing her heart might be two very different people.

Аннотация: Before: Kelsey and David became best friends the summer before freshman year and were inseparable ever after. Until the night a misunderstanding turned Kelsey into the school joke and everything around her crumbled - including her friendship with David. So when Kelsey’s parents decided to move away, she couldn’t wait to start over and leave the past behind. Except, David wasn't ready to let her go... After: Now it’s senior year and Kelsey has a new group of friends, genuine popularity, and a hot boyfriend. Her life is perfect. That is, until David’s family relocates to the same town and he shakes up everything. Soon old feelings bubble to the surface and threaten to destroy Kelsey’s second chance at happiness. The more time she spends with David, the more she realizes she never let him go. And that maybe she never wants to.

Review: A Kiss in the Dark - Gina Ciocca
Review: A Kiss in the Dark – Gina Ciocca
[book-info] The first time I read a book by Gina Ciocca was her debut, Last Year’s Mistake, in 2015. I enjoyed the book a lot. I really clicked with the writing. So when I saw Gina had another book, Busted, coming out in 2018 I was beyond excited. Read and loved that. And then there was A Kiss in the Dark. A book that sounded like equal parts romance and mystery mixed with a lot of teen angst. I…

Woman of Faith Diaries: Joining a Victory Group and Starting One-2-One
Tumblr media
August 5th. I met the other members of Ate Lyra's Victory Group, Alex and Bea. I had my first ever Victory Group that day and has also started my One-2-One with ate Ly. This is it! A fresh start in living life with and for the Lord.
The Data Analyst Diaries:
RFT at Work, alas! (Plus, Meeting the New Team)
Last August 12 marked not just my sixth month but also my regularization at work. Time has flown so fast! Aside from being a regular full time employee now, another highlight at work this month was the Pay Transition and meeting the new team. Aside from sir Harold, I also met the other Pay Leads and my new teammates (especially those who also belong to sir Harold's team --- Karla, Neil, Rosbel, Peter, and Fred). I met them during my first lunch out with the team at Mazza last August 15. That same day, i was also officially introduced as the newest member of the Pay Data Team on their Monthly Meeting. I am a bit jittery, but i could also feel the excitement of meeting and the possibility of working with these people in the coming months.

2018 Bucket List Check: ☑️ Reading Challenge
One of the things listed on my 2018 Bucket list is a Reading Challenge. Before this year started, I challenged myself to read ten books (i started with a safe number, i know lol). This month, I got to tick this challenge on the list as i finished reading my tenth book this year. The ten books that I've read since January were as follows:
1. Memories by Lang Leav
A poetry book by Lang Leav which also comprises poems from her other books, Lullabies and Love and Misadventures.
2. Last Year's Mistake by Gina Ciocca
"Sometimes, change is for the best." -  Amanda, Kelsie's mom
This book is OK but it isn't that type of book that kept me seated for like an entire day just reading it. I didn't like the chronology of how it was narrated. It was a bit off and confusing that it didn't really sit well for me.
3. Fifty Shades Darker as told by Christian Grey by E.L. James
Reading from Christian Grey's perspective is different. I don't know but i like it more reading from his point of view because it gives this extra kilig factor. Ugh, hopeless romances at its finest!
4. Naermyth by Karen Francisco
5. Revelations by Karen Francisco
A Filipino author who surprised me, big time. I didn't really expect that I would enjoy reading Naermyth because of its genre. This, and its sequel, Revelations, have proven me to not judge a book by its cover. These books were well-thought of and well-written. They're really good and i couldn't wait for the third book!
6. This is Me Letting You Go by Heidi Priebe
I love reading articles on the Thought Catalog and it was through this blog that I discovered this book. I got interested after reading the synopsis so I decided to read the entire book. It has a lot of good articles that are very relatable. And i know for sure that many would like them too as much as i liked reading them.
7. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
8. It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han
9. We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han
I loved reading this Summer Trilogy. I knew Jenny Han because I loved her Lara Jean trilogy. So even before reading this Summer trilogy, i already had my hopes up and expectations. And it didn't disappoint. While I hate and felt like Belly and Conrad wasted a lot of time before FINALLY being together, i enjoyed reading it. In fact, this trilogy is that kind of story that you can't get enough of. I always looked forward to what would be happening next that letting go of the book had been challenging at some point.
10. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
I still hate Eleanor for leaving Park just like that. Period!
Aside from these ten books, this month, I also read Colleen Hoover's November 9. And as usual, Hoover did not disappoint. In fact, November 9's got to be one of my favorite books to date!
The Wanderlust Diaries: The Sigayan Experience
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As part of our seniors' Fun and Bonding Day, we, the new hires of the team, got invited to join their Batangas escapade. This has been their tradition since two or three years ago. It was actually a good weekend away from the city noise. I've always loved beaches and they're one of my happy places so it was expected that i'd really enjoy this weekend off at the beach.

(via Review: Busted by Gina Ciocca)
Busted by Gina Ciocca is a super cute novel with a hint of mystery. It is all about a girl who spies on her clients’ boyfriends to catch them cheating. I enjoyed the main characters, but there was not enough action, and the book falls a bit flat.
