This is about the 300th page of the entire series, but I finally go round to writing commentary on some of the most absurd anti-German propaganda of WW1.
There were monthly publications in British newspapers during WW1 claiming that the Germans had human fat farms and were cannibalizing our dead relatives.
When I was in high school, we were shown a propaganda poster about this, as an example of a lie, designed to make us want to kill other human beings, (Germans). But we were not informed that this lie was repeated monthly in the newspapers.
Special thanks to my colorist @polsterreich

in which sd route would you add cannibalism to fix it
i totally forgot to answer this
the short answer is that it really only would make sense in takus route, a guy whose literally so protective of towa he threatens to kill him in his good end.
so like you could easily transition that into an obsession of literally consuming him so no one else gets him… and that would fix how horrifically boring takus bad end is.
i also think it would be a good route for the german cannibal conversation but really the perfect route for that would be fujiedas…
madarame bad end could also rip with cannibalism but i really don’t wanna change his bad end. sorry madarame

We read Das Parfum in my German course some time ago and it was kind of… interesting. I honestly really liked the ending (so like spoiler alert if you should want to read it).
Everyone said the book is sick & disgusting, and it was in certain parts, but I’ve read worse, so I wasn’t shocked tbh.
And like, in the end he puts on that perfume (the best smelling perfume in the entire world) and everyone loves him and they have like orgies in his nam. But he still doesn’t like feel… content? I‘d say?
A little backstory, our boy the MC never smelled like anything himself, but he has the most incredible sense of smelling. Everyone thought he was weird, because someone not smelling like anything is suspicious to humans. So naturally he became a serial killer and killed girls who smell good (which according to him is rare cause humans usually don’t smell good), to make perfumes out of them. I don’t remember the process don’t judge me.
Anyways, he put on the perfume, everyone went crazy and fell in love with him on the spot and he didn’t like it as much as he thought he would. So in the end I think, he like dunked himself in that perfume and went to the outskirts of the city where „the bad folk“ lives. And they go so crazy with the scent, that they eat him alive.
Besides the fact that he made that perfume to be loved smh (I only read the book once I might’ve gotten that wrong), what really got me was one of the last sentences.
After they ate him, they were all sitting there, all ashamed and stuff, and unsure what to do and then the book said But it was the first time they did something out of love
And while I agree that what happened was sick and twisted, I also thought that sentence was very beautiful in a way.

I love retelling and putting fairy tales in the modern world, but my favorite Grimm fairy tale is never one of them. It’s not a princess is in danger and the prince saves her type. The fairy tale is called “The Juniper Tree” it’s about a step mom who kills her step son, makes her daughter think she killed her step brother, cooks him into a stew or pie (depending on version/translation), has the dad eat it only for the stepson to turn into a bird, kill his stepmother with stones from a mill, and give his dad a gold chain, his sister a new pair of shoes and comes back to life.
This fairy tales has an evil step mother but his step sister is the sweetest sister in any Grimm fairy tale I’ve read. The two of them behaved like a normal pair of siblings that you’d find in real life, not the evil step sister you find in a lot of fairy tales. Read it if you could handle my summary.

Most scary fairytales are like clearly meant to represent something that happened very commonly to prepare young people for it in the real world, but fairytales from Germany are just like, hey, what was the moral there exactly?
