I made fanart of Chester from Gentle Fall, a yandere visual novel made by @isattt , in an outfit that I own because of the recent ask I sent to her about what Chester would wear other than his turtleneck. It took 4 hours and 32 minutes, which was 100% worth it and I was bored today anyways so I got to use up my time on something fun!
I have a time lapse but I'll post it separately because it had an oopsie that didn't allow this to post before.
The time lapse won't post at all lol. I might post it on Twitter.

Gentle Fall (Visual Novel)
Created by: Isa, Isa
Genre: Romance
This one was submitted to the #yanjam a while ago. It's pretty short with hints of yanderes, but I will say I really think the art looks really nice. It's very soft looking and really does remind me of a fall whether. That being said though, there's currently not a whole lot on it, only doing about two days or so. You can find more of their games and stories at @isattt.
The story starts with the MC (nicknamed "Person") going to college to study medicine. While going into the lecture hall, she ends up seeing another student there named Chester. While the two of them talk about their hobbies and lives, the other students come in. The two are paired up to work in the lab, but when the MC leaves, they realize that they've left their jacket in the lab. When going back, they find that Chester has left his notebook on the chair, and the MC decides to bring it back for him tomorrow. While studying and waiting for Chester the next day, the MC accidentally drops the notebook onto the floor, revealing a schedule. Looking at it for a bit, the notebook seems to mark times of the MC's own morning schedule, but is snatched by Chester before they can get a good look at it. The MC pretends to have not had a good look at it when Chester asks, but feels uneasy at what they've seen. During their lab, the professor reveals that Chester will be the new aid, and the two go to a cafe to get to know each other. The MC asks about the notebook, and Chester apologizes for coming off as creepy.
First off, I have to say that the artwork for this is really pretty. I like the more cozy atmosphere the game has and the general backgrounds are really well made. I am a huge fan of unique UIs and I really like how Gentle Fall's UI looks. It's pretty simple but it's gentle and it really does bring out the more softer and warm tones of what Autumn is idealized like, which I feel is a big theme of this game. It is interesting that there is a pretty strong lack of sound, but again, I'm not sure that's because of the state of the demo or if it's because that's the kind of feel that its going for. It is also fun when you can choose what personality the MC has (to a certain extent) since different responses might trigger different things that Chester might say. Platonic and Romantic routes also seem to be a fun plus to the game.
Because this is a demo, Chester as a yandere is very very minimal, mostly it seems so far that Chester has been tracking down what the MC has been doing and that's about it. From what I can tell, he's the type that is generally very soft and will do anything that the MC wants him to do, so if you play to be a bit meaner to him, he will likely sacrifice himself to you. That is at least what I'm getting from her tumblr, but it is a bit difficult to ask since currently not too much happens in the demo as of now. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, some games or characters works better with a more light yandere character, it just means that there wouldn't be as much to talk about for me when writing these recommendations. Again, not a bad thing, just something that I might need to clarify.
Anywho, Isa has another game that I will likely play in the future as well featuring the maid girl who was the cashier in the cafe. And spreading the love of glasses boys, which you go, Isa. Anyways, if you like the more lighter style of yanderes, please check it out.

Sunday devlog #17
it is sunday, my dudes
Gentle Fall:
Designed Chester's additional outfits (yes he is wearing suspenders under that sweater) (also i am removing one of his layers of clothes from his original design... don't want bro to be remembered like kent from amnesia lmao)
Tumblr media
Rewrote/Added more stuff in chapter 0
Something about chapter 0 is really bugging me for some reason... it may end up different from what it was in the demo (or maybe i should stop overthinking it)

s2e4 rewatch notes
I'm a bit tired, please forgive the typos:
At the intro, we get a montage of the permits and files and drills, the sense of urgency - the furiousness of the work and notes begging Carmy for something (that was probably already set on his list in the last episode). I guess I stopped paying attention to the timelines - they're now 7 weeks out with no walls and we haven't really gotten into the meat of the series yet - meaning we don't really see Carmy flake the fuck out until 1 month from opening.
Sugar's "don't tell anyone - this is my problem" bit is so sad, watching her castigate herself for bringing another her/carmy/mikey/donna/their dad into the world. I also hate the way such a heavy moment was turned into such a "womp womp - wall fell" moment, as the situation (and Sugar) deserved a lot more gravitas.
But this is a show through the male lens. Richie feels vindicated that he "guessed it". Carmy doesn't know how to show his concern (and to be fair, she'd probably pummel him if he expressed anything in that moment), but the fact that he still lets his sister shoulder so much of the restaurants burdens alone through the rest of the series shows the level he disassociates from his family (even his only caring/loving family member) at every turn.
Marcus is such a good son - I hope in season 3 we get a (posthumous, I presume) look at who his mother was, what shaped his character, how his brother/father play a role (if any) in his current family dynamic etc.
The Chester + Marcus pairing is a magical talisman that protects the show from a deluge of male-on-male emotional evasion, jousting and toxic co-dependency. I don't care that Chester is about as believable as Claire as a character, mainline that shit into my veins.
I love that Carmy ensured that Marcus would have the identical experience he had when he staged in Copenhagen (as described in Fishes to Mikey) - this is in no way coincidental, he would have had to make plenty of arrangements/requests to Marie for things to play out that way. He wanted Marcus to see Copenhagen through the same magical lens he did, knowing Marcus needed the inspiration and a break from his own version of family strife.
The invisible cat (Coco), the looming presence of Marcus' mom on the viewers minds, and the bike scene are three great examples of things that feel foreboding (like the other shoe is going to drop on Marcus) but never actually amount to anything. Whether existential or hopeful, I like it.
"Do you know how to make Shisho Gelee?" - this is such a gentle test to see how insecure Marcus is in this environment. Passing him the recipe as he's googling was an awesome act of amnesty. It immediately brings out Marcus' curiosity in the next scenes - he's asking all the right questions and looks so joyful when Luca gives him concise answers.
The scenes played out to Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long", starting with "You're tired - and you want to be free" playing as Marcus walks home. Temporarily free from the impending death of his mother at home after a long illness. Free from the constraints of the (up until now) low-level jobs Marcus' has held down in kitchens with minimal inspiration and nowhere to go. Free from loneliness? The next cut is Sydney interviewing staff, as if on cue.
The quenelle - the heavy-lovin' part of the song as Marcus' is immersed in his work with Luca, falling in love with the ritualization of his craft. Things in Marcus' life haven't exactly been going right, but this is a place of solace. He follows this up by calling his Mom - professing his love for his craft, as well as for her.
Sidebar: The minty snickers bar is almost a sexual release scene during the ballad. I get why so many folks were led down the road to hell that is Marcus x Luca fanfic, as weird as I think that is (no hate! do you!)
The song ends with the pastry dissection on the boat. This man found love/spiritual release in Copenhagen, just like Carmy. "Mission accomplished, I guess."
Fak saying "Dude! We're best friends, we don't tell secrets!" re: the alliance stuff. So....every dude at The Beef/Bear is his best friend, Sugar is Mommy, and Sydney (and Tina, for that matter) are ????
I feel like Fak may be the thing that continues to insulate The Beef/The Bear as a Berzatto clubhouse for wayward boys at this juncture, but I'm originally from Canada (and thus have been force-fed Matty Matheson a.k.a Fak-Light since the mid-aughts) so there's probably some bias creeping in here.
Luca started as a chef 14 years ago. If he entered the profession and competed against Carmy at the same level/experience as a high-school graduate, that makes him and Carmy in the rough age range of 29-32, adjusting for education sans A-levels in the UK. We can put away that screenrant article and die in peace now.
Mikey was "Really tight, but also really out of his fucking mind, and he wanted to open a bakery". Something something Berzatto parallels.
Luca says "I've got a younger sister, somewhere, yeah" after asking about Marcus' family. Luca's got a case of the family damage, the trouble in school, a past-tense case of the ferocious mopes - all the same watermarks as Carmy. Meanwhile, Marcus was just sharing his mothers prognosis, and speaks of his brother with no ill will (even though he doesn't appear to be in the caretaking position with his mom) - are they foreshadowing that Marcus' doesn't have the damage that makes a truly great/ritualized/masochistic chef in the long run?
Luca's may have learned more lessons in life than Carmy has (in part by being thwarted by Carmy) but the habits borne out of family evasion/searching for something else are so engrained with that backstory. Or maybe Marcus' represents the happier/new way of doing things, breaking the toxic cycle (more thoughts on this down the line).
Luca worked to keep up with Carmy after he came to a place of acceptance that he'd never be the best, and that ended up being enough for him. Maybe a blessing is that Marcus' gets to sidestep the whole toxic cycle and just absorb knowledge (from Luca, from Carmy, from Syd) - he's not in a running position, just like Tina.
But of course, we never worry about Tina - she's too self-possessed. Marcus is emotional and easily influenced, so I have a feeling his narrative could turn on a dime.
Luca says "At a certain stage, it becomes less about skill and more about being open....." In summary:
Marcus - Open, but I fear could easily become closed in the wrong environment/trauma.
Carmy - Closed, doesn't really understand how to open when not hiding behind the guise of the restaurant/Syd/emotional fabrications
Sydney - Wants open, but always closes instinctively for self-protection.
Natalie - Open, with the limited emotional tools she has at her disposal.
Richie - *learning* to open, but that's a long fucking road.
Tina - Open
"It helps to have good people around you, too" - see above. The Bear represents the inherent goodness of people, with familial history run roughshod over it.
Marcus asking "Was It worth it? The time you put in" quickly followed by Luca saying "I dunno....ask me tomorrow"
Isn't this the feeling of fecklessness that almost everyone has with their creative craft being converted to labor? There's been a lot of theories floating around that Carmy doesn't like cooking anymore/never liked cooking - could it just be the long-standing feeling of irrelevance when you've taken a deep-dive into your craft for so long that you can't see the forest (inspiration, caring for people) through the trees (red tape, skill level, trauma etc.)?
The man on the bike could also represent saving someone the way that Marcus can't save his mom - it alleviates some of the feelings of powerlessness, and the exchange of comfort in the hug a reciprocity he can no longer experience with her.
"Are you sure you want to get back on the bike?"
A bad thing happened, but the man feels compelled to keep moving - as Marcus said to Syd in S1 "just keep moving" - there are a bunch of metaphors for just proceeding with the restaurant here.
Syd is literally just being goofy and talking to Marcus like a friend when he first calls - I guess I imagined there being a little more heat/aloofness there on her behalf, but it's giving friend-zone. She wouldn't act so familiar if there was a crush, I don't feel its in her DNA....
Marcus sharing the nightmare about his mom's impending death with Sydney is huge (again, the other shoe dropping) - Sydney tries to give an empathetic response (she's not great at anything with a whiff of mortality to it, but she approaches the topic with optimism) and caps it off with a "ugghh - I miss you man" as a reassuring gesture - he's her friend and a great source of comfort.
He nods quietly, waits a beat, and says "I miss you too" - and you can tell the pregnant pause has let Syd know that there's gravity/consequences to her words. She diffuses with the freeze humor because what the hell else are you going to do once a guy tells you about his dying mom nightmare, you spurt out a casual "I miss you bro" and he responds back tenderly that he misses you too. Unenviable.
"Okay, goodnight dude" - Syd hangs up immediately. Oof. Everyone talks about Syd getting a love interest in season 3 to level the stakes with Carmy, but I want Marcus' to bag a hot expediter or something just so there's a bit of joy in his life without a crazy dramatic subplot ensuing.
The mild smile on Marcus' face is so peaceful when he masters the dessert. It's such a quiet satisfaction you can only get when you create things. What a nice way to end the episode.
Holy crap, this was far too long. If you stuck it out, thank you!

Part 6
Tumblr media
Levi glanced over at you as you shifted in your seat. He reached over and gripped your thigh as Erwin drove the car. He gave you a gentle squeeze to gain your attention. He gave you a reassuring smile to ease your stressed mind, but it didn’t seem to do much. He leaned over and kissed your cheek to see if that was going to help you and it did a bit. He could see the tight grip you had on your files lessened.
You looked down at your files and hummed in thought. “Do you think he’ll approve?”
“I don’t see how he could reject your proposal.”
You placed it on your lap and fiddled with it for a moment. “Thanks, but he could.”
Levi sighed. “Well, I’m trying to think of why he would reject it, but nothing comes to mind.”
You smiled softly. “Really?”
He nodded. “I’ve watched you and Erwin work together to make this proposal. You both have pushed hard to make this.”
You nibbled your lip. “I know we’ve worked hard.”
“You especially. You have samples in the boot. You’re going to kill this.”
You smiled and looked through your notes. “I hope so. This is a dream for me to have this bakery. We’ll have sweet and savoury. I just want to make people smile and enjoy themselves.”
“You’ll get there.”
Erwin pulled into his parking spot and sighed. “This will go well, trust me. We’ve worked well together. I’ll get the samples from my boot.”
You smiled brightly at Erwin. “Thanks.”
“Happy to help.”
Levi waited for Erwin to get out before he spoke. “Erwin doesn’t back many ideas. This is the first in a long time I’ve seen him get involved and excited about someone’s idea.”
You hummed a laugh. “Thanks. I’m glad he wants to help and make a bakery chain happen.”
Levi kissed you before climbing out of the car and helping you out. “Believe in yourself.”
You nodded. “Yes. Confidence looks good.”
“It does.”
Erwin put his arm around you. “You have to act like you believe in yourself. You want confidence but you don’t want to be full of yourself, okay?”
You grinned. “Got it!”
Erwin released you and gripped your little box full of food. “All right, let’s go for it.”
Levi held your hand tightly as he walked into the Carter building with you. He kept glancing over at you to make sure you were okay. With a reassuring squeeze of your hand, he then led you into the lift and prayed to anything that could hear him for this meeting to go well. Levi wanted nothing but the best for you and truly believed in your idea with all his heart and soul. He knew Chester would give you approval.
Erwin approached the reception desk upstairs. He leaned on the desk and started talking to her. He smiled at her and made her giggle a lot. He chatted her up a little and encouraged her to call up Chester. He pulled away from her and smiled at you. “Just calling Mr Carter now.”
You smiled. “Great.”
The girl nodded. “Yes, yes, of course. Thank you, Mr Carter. I will let them know.” She put the phone down and sighed. “I’m so sorry but he’s been overbooked. He can’t meet you.”
“But…he said…and…”
Erwin pulled his phone out. “That doesn’t make sense. I booked this slot with him.” He called up Chester and started pacing. “Mr Carter, hello…yes…but…we made an appointment…but sir…” He looked over at you before walking away a bit and whispering, but you heard him. “Sir, you promised her. Was that a lie?” He released a sigh. “She worked so hard…at least see her…no, I’m not telling you what to do, it’s just advice.” He nodded. “Yes, sir…thank you…” He walked over with a smile. “He’ll meet us, we just have to wait a bit. Will the food be okay?”
You nodded. “Yeah, it’ll be just fine. I’ll go and get a seat.”
“Great. I just need to borrow Levi.” He smiled as you walked off before his smile dropped. “He lied.”
Levi frowned. “What do you mean he lied?”
Erwin sighed. “He told me over the phone that he only said he would to keep the peace. He said he was never going to give her a chance.”
“What the fuck?”
Erwin rubbed the back of his neck. “I don’t know why he did this.” He looked over at you sitting with a little smile. “I told him she worked so hard, he said he didn’t think she would do anything because his other kids didn’t. He planned to do something and shove it into her hands as he’s done that with his other pair.”
Levi clenched his jaw. “Tch, piece of shit.”
“I’m just as irritated as you. We’ll sort something out. I swear to you Levi, I will help her achieve her dream.”
Levi blushed a little before smiling. “Thank you so much, this means a lot to me…to us.”
Erwin bowed his head. “Anything for my friends. Plus, I strongly believe in her idea.” He put his hand on Levi’s back. “Let’s join her. Be prepared though to comfort her after the meeting.”
“Thanks,” Levi growled. “Who the fuck is that with her?”
Erwin looked ahead and smiled a little. “Ah, that good-looking older man is Bruce Carter. He’s Chester’s brother and doesn’t really have much to do with the Carter family. He comes in sometimes. He was a big part of everything but something happened over twenty years ago and he’s been a broken man since.”
Levi whined a bit. “I don’t like how nice he’s being to my kitten.”
“He’s a good man.”
“Yeah?”
Erwin nodded. “Let them talk for a bit.”
You looked up when you heard a deep soothing voice. You smiled up at a man who was aged like fine wine, like a silver fox who no doubt had lots of women racing after him. “Hello.”
He pointed to the chair in front of you. “May I?”
“Of course!”
He sat down and sighed. “So, who are you here to see?”
You fiddled with your files. “Mr Carter.”
“Oh yeah?”
You nodded. “I have a proposal for him.”
He looked at the files on your lap. “Looks like you’ve done a lot of work.”
“I even brought samples!”
He chuckled. “That’s incredible.”
You stared at him for a while. “Sorry for staring, but I feel like I’ve seen you from somewhere before.”
He smiled sadly for a moment before the sadness was just replaced with happiness. “I’m Bruce, Bruch Carter.”
You gave your name. “You know, you don’t look anything like the Carters…”
“I take that as a compliment. My brother is rather old and grey and we look nothing like each other.” He let out a long sigh. “It’s been a while since I’ve been here at the Carter Tower.”
“You don’t like the business?”
“No.” He smiled at you. “Anyway, about your idea. What do you have in mind?”
You opened your file and showed him. “A bakery chain. I like golden cat snacks and I think it’d be amazing if we could make fresh snacks as an alternative to the ones you get in the shop.”
Bruce looked through your files. “This is incredible. This is so thought out and I love the colour choices.”
You giggled. “Thank you.”
He kept looking as he smiled softly. “This has a lot of love in it.” He looked over at you. “I would love to visit a bakery just like this.”
“That’s so kind of you to say.”
Bruce looked up at Erwin and Levi. “Hello, gentlemen. Erwin, right? I remember you. You’re a smart lad.” He gasped. “Oh, and you must be Levi Ackerman, I’ve heard a lot of great things about you.”
Levi shook his hand. “I’ll be honest, I haven’t heard much about you. I am sorry, sir.”
“Not to worry, Chester doesn’t like me too much.” He chuckled. “The way you look at each other…what a beautiful love. It makes me so happy.”
You reached up and held Levi’s hand. “Thank you.”
Levi lifted your hand and kissed your fingers. “I never thought I’d ever fall in love, but now I can’t think of a life without her.”
Bruce smiled sadly. “What a wonderful feeling.”
Erwin frowned. “May I ask, Bruce, why are you here?”
“You know my brother. He likes to dig the knife he stabbed into me further and further.”
You all looked over to the double doors to see a smartly dressed middle-aged man. He sighed as he looked over at your little group. “You may come in now. You have a short amount of time.”
You shot up to your feet. “I’m ready!”
Erwin led the group. “I’ll lead.”
Bruce lightly grabbed your hand and whispered. “I believe in your bakery, but don’t go in there.”
You looked up at him. “Why?”
He whined a bit. “I don’t think it’ll end well. Please, turn around and walk away.”
Chester walked to the door and called your name. “Hurry.” He saw Bruce holding your hand. “Bruce, you should join too.”
Bruce slightly shielded you from Chester. “Don’t do this, Chester.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He smirked a bit. “I have a meeting and you should join us.”
You walked from behind Bruce. “It’ll be okay. Please come with us.”
Bruce followed you. “Please.”
“It’ll be okay.”
Chester put his arm around you. “I’m her father, I’ll make sure she’s fine.”
Bruce’s eyes widened. “Fa…”
Chester sat down and smiled. “Go ahead.”
You grinned and started your presentation about the bakery chain and how you would have special-themed things. You talked about how you’d remake the things in the Golden Cat Snacks range in the shops so people could have it fresh. You were also going to have seasonal treats and limited editions. Erwin presented the statistics and the profit margins. He was proud of the idea as he spoke with you and showed the numbers to Chester.
You opened the cooler and presented the samples. “Here are what we’ll serve.”
Bruce smiled. “It looks delicious.”
Chester sighed. “It could look better.” He picked up a bit and tasted it. He pulled a face and put it down before spitting the food into a napkin. “I’m sorry, I’m going to put a stop to this.” He sighed. “I wasn’t serious when we talked about this before.” He looked to the young lawyer who’d brought you in. “Tell them.”
The lawyer smirked and messed with his expensive watch. “It’s not profitable.”
Erwin frowned. “Are you serious? I’ve done the numbers. We could make a killing!”
Chester held his hand up. “Mr Smith, stop. I always thought you lost control of your emotions.” He released a long sigh. “Simon? Give him the papers.”
Simon, the lawyer, pushed papers towards Erwin. “You’re fired, effective immediately.”
Erwin grabbed the papers. “On what grounds? I’ve put my blood, sweat and tears into this business.”
“You have your own agenda and it doesn’t line with Mr Carter’s business ethic.” He looked at you and called your name and presented you with papers. “You will also be legally removed from this family. It has come to our attention that you have been syphoning money from Mr Carter since joining the family. He will be removing all the belongings he has gifted to you from you. All money given to you will be taken. We will let the couple of thousand you stole from Heather’s charity event slide. All they ask is you publicly apologise for abusing the family and then cut contact.”
You welled up and started shaking. “But I didn’t do any of that. I didn’t…I…I’m confused…”
Chester sighed. “Levi? You are free from this woman. You no longer have to care for her. You will return to your duty of being my best bodyguard.”
Levi was holding back his rage the whole time. He yanked his work phone out of his pocket and slammed it on the desk. “You broke an innocent woman’s heart and you hurt my best friend. Fuck your job and fuck you. I quit.”
Chester’s eyes widened. “What?” He shot to his feet. “You can’t quit! I need you!”
“I don’t give a shit. I’m not working for you.”
“Levi, I need you as my bodyguard. There is no one close to as good as you!”
Levi pulled you close. “My loyalty lies with these two people here. Fuck. You.”
Chester tried to grab Levi but was held back by Simon. “You will come back! I need you!”
Simon yanked Chester back. “Sir, you can’t. You must stand your ground.”
“I need Levi! I could be killed!”
Levi ushered you out of the room as you held the papers. “It’s okay.”
You shook a bit. “I won’t cry.”
Levi smiled. “You’re so strong. You’re doing so well. Just a bit longer.”
You chewed your lip. “Mm.”
Erwin gathered up the papers and strolled out of the meeting room with you. “We’ll get through this, together.”
Bruce raced after you and called your name. “Wait, all of you.” He sighed. “I want to help.”
Levi snarled. “I don’t want the Carter’s anywhere near my kitten.”
Bruce held his hands up. “I mean well. Please, let me help.”
Erwin sighed and handed over his card. “My private number is on there. Call me in a few days. Right now, we need to think things through.”
“Of course.” He called your name. “I’m…I’m sorry.”
You smiled softly at him. “It’s okay. Take care of yourself.” You turned away and walked outside the building to see the paparazzi waiting for you asking questions. You looked into the building to see Simon appear and smirk at you. You sighed and bowed to the cameras. “I am deeply sorry to the Carter family. As of today, to pay for my actions, I will be removing myself from this family and cutting all ties. I wish them all the best.”
Erwin turned to Simon. “That enough?”
Simon nodded. “Perfect. Now, leave.”
Levi held you against him. “Come on. I’ll take you to my place.”
You hugged Levi’s side. “Thank you.”
“I have a lot of money saved up. We’ll be okay.”
You looked over at Erwin. “Will you be okay?”
Erwin smiled. “I have my own place and a lot of savings as well. We’ll get through this.”
Tumblr media
Levi woke up in the middle of the night and let out a long sigh. He turned his head and looked at your side of his bed expecting to see your naked form after you both made love, but it was empty. He slipped out of bed and pulled on some clothes before looking for you. He stopped a moment and saw you were sitting at the dining table working on something.
He called your name and moved closer. “What are you doing?”
You looked up and smiled. “Just trying to work things out.”
Levi sat down next to you. “What things?”
You sighed. “Job stuff. Money stuff. Mum stuff…I wish my mum was here. I want to talk to her and ask her why Chester.”
He rubbed your back. “Love is a mysterious thing.”
You shuffled closer to Levi and hugged his side. “I might have to move away.”
“Why?”
“Chester has ruined my reputation. No one wants to hire me.”
Levi played with your hair. “We’ll go away together.”
You looked up at Levi. “But.”
He kissed the end of your nose. “Wherever you go, I go.”
You hugged Levi tightly. “I want to leave this city.”
“Me too.” He looked over to the spare room door to see Erwin walk out in his PJ bottoms. Levi had let Erwin stay over because he was broken after losing his job. “Erwin? How do you feel about abandoning this city?”
Erwin scratched his stubble and hummed. “I’m all in.” He grabbed some ice cream and three spoons before sitting down with you and Levi. “Fuck this city. We can use our money to move and set a bakery up there. All three of us need a brand new start.”
You took a spoon from Erwin. “I can’t believe we never saw the signs. I feel like an idiot.”
“We both had no way of knowing.” He sighed. “We’ll get through this. I think moving is a great plan.”
You smiled a little and looked at your notes. “Me too.”
Erwin paused a moment. “Did you ever get to see your mother’s will?”
You frowned in thought. “I don’t think she had one.”
Levi gulped down his ice cream. “That’s odd, seeing as she was sick. I’ll talk to my mum and dad. My dad, Sebastian, is a fantastic private detective and my mother is nosey.”
Erwin laughed. “She’s not that bad.”
“Oh, she’s the Queen of finding out tea.”
You giggled. “She sounds like a lot of fun.”
Levi hummed in response. “She is.” Levi and Erwin flinched when you stood up quickly. “Kitten?”
You walked over to the bedroom and returned with your laptop. You slapped it on the table between both men and started it up. You blushed at the background of Levi. “Ignore the picture.”
“I like it.”
You went on your browser and did a bit of looking and found a nice quiet town a few hours away. You adored the mountains, the lake and the cute homes. You saw there were a few houses available and a few shops. They didn’t have a mayor and they were looking for a sheriff or someone to join the department. Everything was so perfect for the three of you.
Erwin was invested. “This place is perfect for us three. Being a mayor sounds pretty good.”
Levi smirked. “I like the sound of the sheriff’s department. Plus, this shop could be great as a bakery.”
Erwin nodded. “I can see it working. It might be rather cheap to convert, so we could save some money.” He looked at the pricing for the places. “Mm, this could work.”
“Perfect. We’ll visit there tomorrow. We all need to sleep first.”
You closed your laptop. “You’re right…I’m excited though!”
Levi picked you up. “Come on. Bedtime. Say night to Erwin.”
You waved to Erwin. “Night Erwin!”
Erwin waved back to you. “Night!”
Levi threw you onto the bed and dove into your arms making you giggle. He snuggled close against your body and sighed as he started relaxing. “I’m excited about tomorrow as well. I think a nice quiet town life fits us perfectly.”
You kissed Levi. “Me too.”
“Get some sleep, okay?”
You hugged Levi and hummed as you closed your eyes and felt yourself drifting off. “Mm.”
Levi massaged his fingers into your hair to ease you into a nice sleep. He smiled a little before closing his eyes and falling asleep as well. He dreamed of a perfect life with you in the cute town and having a dream life. Levi imagined you were married and you had adorable children running around and you had a cute bakery. Levi wanted this dream to come true.
He woke up before you and decided he was going to make breakfast for everyone. He cooked up a big meal and made coffee as well as tea. He smiled at Erwin when he joined him. “Eat up.”
Erwin helped himself and got comfy. “I actually slept well. It was the first time in ages I’ve slept so well.” He said your name. “She’s given me hope.”
“Me too.” He smiled when you walked over. “Speak of the devil.”
You rubbed your eyes as you smiled back. “Morning. I’m looking forward to our road trip.”
“I’m glad.” He put a plate down and a cup of coffee and tea in front of you. “Eat and drink, okay?”
You wiggled in delight. “Mm, yum. Thank you.”
Levi grabbed what he wanted and sat. “We’ll pack some bags. I think we should stay overnight there.”
Erwin gulped down some coffee. “I think you’re right. Staying over will be good for us. It means we can set up things very quickly. I’m ready to move on.”
Levi rubbed your back. “Me too.”
The three of you ate, cleaned up and then packed your bags. You hurried to Levi’s car and climbed inside. All of you hid a little when paparazzi looked for you, but thankfully Levi was very good at avoiding them. He drove Erwin and you out of the city and started the long drive to the town. The tension was high at first due to the fear of being followed and harassed again, but soon everyone relaxed and sang along to the music on the radio.
You gazed out the window and smiled at seeing the land change into something beautiful. “Perfect.”
Erwin looked out and began smiling as well. “It is, isn’t it?”
Levi smiled at hearing his lover and friend happy. He loved how the land looked and knew he was happy to settle into this new town. He was thinking that if it was nice enough, he might ask his mother and father to move in. He wanted to have all of his family together in the town. He wanted a perfect life with those he cared about close to him. Levi was very much done with the rich people’s life.
Levi leaned and looked at the sign for the town and saw only a couple hundred people were living there. He smiled as he drove past cute homes with lush gardens. He felt bad driving through because a lot of people were walking around. He blushed as people smiled and waved at the car. Levi felt so welcome here and thought he was happy to spend his life with you in this perfect place. He pulled up into a parking spot in the town car park and sighed.
You looked over at Levi and smiled. “This place is perfect. I can’t wait to go house shopping!”
Levi took your hand and kissed it. “Let’s look for a shop for us first.”
Erwin climbed out of the car and felt his body relax. “This town…I just feel so relaxed.”
Levi got out and pulled you into his arms as you all stared at the town hall with mountains behind it. “Fuck.”
You rubbed Levi’s chest. “A dream come true.”
Levi kissed the side of your head. “It is.”
Erwin checked his phone. “The first shop we can look at is in this main street on a corner.”
You gasped. “A corner shop!? Cute!” You looked around and saw a very small estate agent with the one person working there looking out. “We should go over there and see the estate agent. I mean, I’m sure it’s not often they get someone in town.” You dragged Levi over to the shop and smiled at the lady. “Hi, we three are looking to move here. We want to set up a bakery and my boyfriend and I here want a home together and my friend here wants a home as well.”
The older woman gasped in delight. “A young good-looking couple and a handsome single man want to move here!? Of course! I’m Angie and I’ll show you around! One moment.”
Erwin chuckled. “She’s passionate.”
You smiled at Levi. “This is amazing.”
Levi sighed. “She’s very energetic.”
“Passionate.”
“Hmm.”
Angie returned with a big grin. “I have a few places for the three of you. First, we’ll see the shops that could be your bakery!” She led you all through the town and chatted mostly with Erwin. “We don’t have a bakery in town so this will be amazing!”
Levi looked down at you. “You okay?”
You nodded. “Mm, yeah. I’m excited. I kind of want to move in right away.”
“Me too.” He squeezed you a little. “I have the money.”
You blushed. “Huh?”
He smiled a little. “I have the money to buy a home today and the bakery.”
You whined a little bit. “But your savings.”
“You’ll be surprised how much money I have saved up. Plus, I want this. Let’s find our forever home.”
Tumblr media
You tied on your bandana to keep your hair back. You stood up and put your hands on your hips and stared at your new bakery. You giggled when Levi tackled you from behind and kissed your neck. “Hey, grumpy.”
Levi kissed your cheek. “Hello. You look so cute in dungarees.”
“Thank you.”
He released you and checked the paint. “You ready to paint this place?”
You bounced up and down. “I so am! Once this is done we can do up our home.”
Levi cupped your face and kissed you. “Yes.”
Erwin walked over with a raised brow. “You two finished kissing so we can get to work on this paint job?”
Levi growled. “I’m never done kissing her.”
You giggled and grabbed what you needed. “I’m ready to paint.”
Erwin turned on some music and stretched. “Once this is all done, we can open up. I’ve been practising the recipes you gave me.”
“I’m glad it’s going well for you. I would appreciate someone good at decorating.”
Levi pouted a little. “I can do that. I have a steady hand.”
“You do.” You stopped a moment and sighed. “You know, I really appreciate you both. You’re incredible and you’ve helped me more than you know.” You welled up and sniffed. “You’re giving me hope and so much love.”
Levi hugged you. “Oh, sweet kitten. We love you so much. Of course, I love you the most.”
Erwin smiled. “You’ve freed us from a shit life. I’m looking forward to starting here. I told you before, I believe in your idea. I do think that all this…I think they did it on purpose. I think they always knew about you and picked you up to make them look good and you using them made them look better.” He sighed. “I’m sorry you got swept up in that all.”
You shrugged. “None of us could predict it. Let’s get back to painting and then have some lunch I made.”
Levi ruffled your hair. “Sounds good.”
You started painting together as a group and sang along to the music playing. You started dancing making the other two laugh. You pulled Levi over and danced with him and even got Erwin involved. You finished off most of the room before sitting down and enjoying lunch. You were having a nice chat when Levi’s phone rang and a grim look came across his face.
You held his hand. “Levi?”
He sighed. “My mother.”
You laughed. “Kind of a grim look to have for your mother.”
He smiled a little. “I’ve asked her to look into your mother’s will. So, this means she’s found something. I’ll be right back.”
You gave him the thumbs up. “Okay.”
Erwin poured you a drink. “I’m sure it’s nothing too bad.”
You let out a long sigh. “I hope so.” You gazed at Erwin. “I hope Bruce is okay, he seemed really upset about everything.”
“Bruce is the only good thing about that family.” He blushed. “Oh, you’re a good thing, but I don’t see you as a Carter.”
You hummed a laugh. “I’m not and I don’t think I was ever going to be.”
“I’m glad you feel okay.” Erwin ruffled his hair and gazed out of the shop as Levi paced outside as he talked. “This town is wonderful.”
“It is. Have you looked into the mayor role? You’d be really good.”
Erwin blushed. “I have, but I think I want to work with you and Levi for a while before I go for mayor.”
You hummed a laugh. “You’ll be amazing.”
“Thanks.” He raised a brow. “Levi? How was the call?”
Levi strolled over and sat with a loud thud. He gulped hard as he fiddled with his phone. “They’ve found a will. It was moved around and people tried to keep it hidden.”
“What?”
Levi looked over at you. “It seems like Mr Carter was paying your mother hush money. There is a lot of money in her will that’s hidden in a savings account. It’s likely Mr Carter knew about you all this time and was paying your mother to keep it quiet.”
You welled up a little and hummed. “Right.”
“The money that’s owed to you is not known, but my mum says my dad did some digging and you’re looking at millions.”
You choked on air. “Millions!?”
“Yeah.” He rubbed your back. “It’s all yours. My dad is going to locate it and get a lawyer to action the will. You’ll need to be prepared though because no doubt Mr Carter will try and stop it.”
You nodded. “Y-Yes.”
“There’s another thing. There is a letter with the will addressed to you. My parents will deliver the letter tomorrow.”
You gulped hard. “I uh…I need some air.”
Erwin got his phone out and tapped away. “I’ll make some calls. We have to make sure she’s safe.”
Levi stood up. “I’ll go talk to her. I’ll be back.”
“Take your time. This is a lot.”
“Thank you.” Levi jogged out of the bakery. He waved and smiled at the townspeople and jogged after you. He slowed down when he saw you were sitting on a bench by the lake. He smiled as he saw you rubbing your tears as you talked to the ducks. “New friends?”
You looked up at him with wide tear-filled eyes. “Yeah.”
He sat next to you. “They’re nice.”
“Yeah.”
He wrapped an arm around you and held you close. “You wanna go get some snacks?”
“No.”
“You wanna go buy something soft?”
“No.”
He kissed the side of your head. “You wanna go see the animals at the rescue centre?”
You nodded. “Yeah.”
“It’s only a small one in town, but I’m sure we’ll find a handsome boy.”
You sniffed. “Yeah.”
Levi pulled you along to the tiny rescue centre that was also the vets. He moved you inside the building and talked to the person running it. He smiled and led you into the back to a big black German shepherd with a scar over his one eye and a bit of his ear missing. “This big guy is called Hades. He used to belong to a soldier, but he took his life. Hades is well-trained and in desperate need of love.”
You whined. “I can love him!” You gazed at the shop owner. “Please?”
They opened the gate. “He’s not been friendly with many. He just lies there looking sad. I’ve been trying to get him a family. He’s so young as well.”
You knelt on the floor and opened your arms. “Hi, big guy.”
“Oh, that’s new!” She couldn’t believe it when Hades’s tail wagged hard and he got up off his bed and moved closer. “He’s never gotten close to anyone.”
You laughed as he covered your face in licks. “Hi, baby.” You hugged him tightly. “I’m here now.” You kissed his face all over and looked up at Levi. “Can we keep him?”
Levi smiled. “Yeah.” He flinched when Hades started him down a moment before wagging his tail hard and jumping up on him. Levi chuckled and fussed Hades. “I bet I remind you of your dad, huh?”
The owner nodded. “You have the same aura as him. Strong, commanding, kind and it is clear you’ve seen battles.”
“I have.” He held Hades’s paws and smiled. “Good boy.” He put him down. “I’ll sign the papers and I’ll donate too.”
“Oh, you’re too kind.”
You stood up and petted a very happy Hades. “Come on, handsome, let’s go.” You hummed a laugh as he followed you with a tail wagging happily. You went outside and smiled down at Hades. “I hope you like kids. I intend to have babies with Levi.”
Levi stepped out with a blush. “They say he’s great with kids, so we’ll be just fine.”
Your cheeks burned. “G-Good.”
“Let’s take him to meet Erwin.”
You grinned. “Yes.”

Warnings: Mentions of death, violence against women.
The Waking World
The woman Belle called Mother taught her two things. The first: you can make almost any meal go further if you add some lentils. The second: you don’t belong to anyone.
Belle remembers; the gentle chafe of hardwood on her bare feet, the early morning cool of the cabin, the woman’s hands braiding her hair, cigarette smoke, heavy sighs. The woman left one day, didn’t come back. They arrested a man in the nearby village but Belle never found out what happened next. By then, the cabin in the woods and the woman called Mother were already fading like dreams in daylight and Belle was adopted by an elderly couple longing for a child of their own.
Mimi and Chester were gentle and sweet. Mimi, a former ballerina, taught her to dance, Chester taught her to douse for water. The trio lived in perfect harmony for fifteen years. Until the old couple passed away one autumn, Mimi went first and Chester followed. Quiet, uncomplicated deaths, like flowers after the first frost.
And Belle remembered that she didn’t belong to anyone.
She packed her bags and started moving. She marvelled at the distance she could put between herself and the past. She worked odd jobs, slept in parks, slept in grand hotel rooms, slept beside strangers. She realised she had a knack for languages and where that failed her she discovered a proclivity for flirting.
Years passed.
Even if the body is strong and the mind is quick, sooner or later the soul will dig its heels in and say; I want to rest, I want to sleep in the same bed, see the same faces. The soul begs for boredom even as it cries out for wonder. So Belle gave in, came to rest in a nothing place. She would spend the Winter there and then she would be gone.
It is perhaps unfair to call the town a ‘nothing’ place. Everywhere is somewhere after all, though Pleasance (that was the town’s name) subscribed to this notion only tentatively. That was partly why Belle decided to stay there, she believed that a spell in Pleasance would cure her eternally of the need to put down roots.
There was one feature of interest in Pleasance and that was the local dive bar, The Venus Lounge. The name was preposterous, given its general state of disrepair and the fact that it sat between a disused canning factory and a woman’s clothing store long since closed. It was a garish little place and the rumour among the great and the good of the town was that there was nothing the girls who worked there wouldn’t do for a price.
Belle took a job there faster than you can say ‘damnation’.
The Dreaming
Dream of the Endless is wracked with guilt. He summons his librarian.
The sky is slate grey, a thunderstorm seems imminent. Lucienne makes her way to the throne room as swiftly as she can.
The Dream King stands in the centre of the hall, gazing half heartedly at the constellations above when she arrives. He looks awful, weary, woe-begotten.
“My Lord? How can I?-“
The King of Nightmares has no time for pleasantries today. “Lucienne I have caused great suffering.”
Lucienne is momentarily torn between agreeing with him and asking which particular suffering he is referring to, but elects to keep her mouth shut.
“I made a promise” he intones “over two thousand years ago, to a Siren. I swore an oath of protection, which my imprisonment prevented me from keeping, now I fear the world will suffer for it.”
Lucienne lowers her head “Ah, I see.” Lucienne knows something of the story, a promise made in a cave, a child to be entrusted to the King of Dreams. That much she gleaned from a dog-eared scroll in the library. The rest she learned from the child’s mother.
Lord Morpheus has wandered to the foot of the steps leading to his throne, outside a gentle patter of rain has begun to fall. “My Lord, during your imprisonment a creature came to the dreaming, she had with her a baby girl” He whips around, eyes wild. Lucienne steadies herself under the weight of his gaze “The crea- the woman called herself Thalia and she came with the express purpose of delivering the child, her daughter to you, but” Lucienne braces herself for the inevitable storm
“But?”
She heaves in a breath “When she saw the realm, as it was then, abandoned, she felt her daughter would be no safer here than in the Waking World.”
There is a moment of perfect silence. Then the heavens open, thunder shakes the foundations of the palace and lightning slashes the sky to shreds. “My Lord” he is not listening, “My Lord!” Lucienne raises her voice over the rising storm “There is every possibility the child is still alive!”
There is a loud crack of thunder. “The Waking World deals cruelly with her kind” he retorts, but his eyes give him away, he is desperate enough to hope.
“Only if she has used her powers My Lord.”
Another thunder bolt illuminates the throne room. “But a child, Lucienne” he whispers. ”A child will not know better.” Lucienne, whose patience never falters, clears her throat “Not a child, my Lord, that is, she would be nearly twenty five by now.”
This had not occurred to the King of Dreams, who for all his power, has never truly understood the passage of time outside his realm.
“There is a chance my Lord, that she is alive and well. All is not lost.”

The Giant (5/16)
***Contains some mild sexual content***
------Chapter 5------
When I woke up the next morning, I was surprised to find myself on Chester's chest again, in the bedroom. He must have carried me to bed while I was fast asleep. I could feel his heart beating in the great expanse rising and falling beneath me. An emotion within me stirred that I didn't quite understand. Maybe I had gotten too comfortable when my fear had subsided, but I had not lain so close, so intimately, to a man in a long time. Or been held by a man in his hands. Of course, I had never been eaten by one before either, so there was that.
I put my cynicism aside for the moment, and snuggled against his warm body. It wouldn't hurt anything to enjoy this feeling after all, as misguided as it may be. The last few days had been very stressful for me, and I was in desperate need for some comfort. For the moment, I didn't feel so alone or afraid.
The realization hit me like a sack of bricks. Deep down, I was starting to feel very attracted to Chester, both emotionally and physically. Was that even possible, for the frightened prey to become attached to the voracious predator? On the one hand, Chester had been kind and gentle to me, fighting his natural instincts the best he could to protect me. On the other, I had been terrified of him. He was so huge, and had almost killed me the night he ingested me and trapped me in his gut. Not to mention, he still wanted to eat me; his hunger had not subsided.
Something had definitely changed in me after our encounter last night. I realized I wasn't so afraid of him anymore. We had an arrangement that could ensure my survival. Not the most pleasant circumstance for me, but the best I could reasonably ask for. Additionally, he had kept his promise not to swallow me. I could trust his word. At least I hoped I could. The scales of my heart were weighted in his favor apparently.
Chester's enormous body began to awaken underneath me. He stretched back his long arms and yawned, and I felt his monumental muscles flexing in his chest. He raised himself up, forgetting in his sleepy state that I was on his chest, and I exclaimed in surprise as I lost my balance and tumbled down his body. To my shock I flipped over past his belly and landed right on his groin, my arms and legs straddling his morning wood through his underwear. I gasped and froze briefly, not believing what had just happened. I quickly recovered and jumped back as fast as I could, colliding with his upright midsection behind me. I pushed my tiny body rigidly against his belly to get as far away as possible from his crotch. I was mortified. I felt my face grow hot as I blushed bright red. Reluctantly, I rotated my head upward to see Chester's reaction. I saw my embarrassment reflected in his facial features as he stared down at me: mouth agape, eyes wide, skin flushed red as a cherry. We made eye contact and gaped at each other awkwardly, unable to move. Finally, I couldn't take the humiliation any longer and cringed away on my knees, hiding my face in my hands.
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe that just happened, I'm so, so sorry!" I sputtered out, barely coherent.
Chester finally recovered from his astonishment and started laughing at the absurdity of the situation. "It's alright, it's alright! I know it was an accident! I should be apologizing to you." He curled his fingers around me and gently elevated me to his eye level. I peeked through my fingers at his smiling face. His green eyes gazed upon me affectionately. A fresh bloom of hot blush rose to my cheeks as I saw how handsome he was, and the look in his eyes. I lowered my hands from my face and pressed them against the palm of his hand, propping myself up.
"I'm so embarrassed," I mumbled. Sheepishly, I avoided eye contact and traced the large lines in his palm with my fingers.
Chester brought up his other hand and began caressing my side with his finger. "It's okay," he said in a soothing voice. "Why don't we get some breakfast?" He was always thinking about his stomach. After throwing on some clothes, he transported me to the kitchen and poured himself a bowl of cereal. He crumbled up some cereal for me too, and put it in a bottle cap with some milk. I didn't have a spoon but I was still able to drink from the cap. He slurped up his cereal with his usual gluttony. I was relieved he didn't bring up the subject of tasting me; I really didn't want to be consumed with milk and cereal.
"Want to go outside for a walk? I could use some sunshine," Chester asked cheerfully. He was in high spirits.
"Sure," I responded. Some fresh air sounded nice. Chester reached his huge hand towards me and I was enclosed briefly in the darkness of his fist. When his hand opened again I found myself on his shoulder. I climbed into the collar of his flannel shirt and rested myself against his neck for stability.
The sun outside was beautiful and temperate. Yet again, I felt like I was in a fairy tale, and in a way I was, since I was sitting on the shoulder of a giant after all. I felt calm and happy. I could feel the cords of muscle in Chester's neck shift through his skin with slight movements of his head. I looked above me, admiring his masculine jawline and the hint of stubble that peppered his chin. Although the outside world was lovely, my attention was, in all honestly, elsewhere. Even though I had been with the giant for a few days now, I still wasn't accustomed to the overwhelming vastness of his presence. Every movement that Chester made was monumental due to his size: his lengthy legs striding across the earth, his extensive arms swinging slightly as he moved, even his prodigious breathing. At first all these things had been terrifying, but now... I found his giant body to be not only comforting, but irresistible.
What was wrong with me? Of course, I realized in a rational sense the obvious folly of entertaining such primitive animal feelings. If I allowed my heart to get carried away, I would be running into a dead end. I seriously doubted a giant would even consider a romantic relationship with a pathetic little human like me. How would that even work? It was impossible. Yet, I felt lonely and vulnerable in the Land of Giants, and Chester was my only lifeline. Despite my feeble attempts to pull back, I was falling hard and fast for him. Laying against the giant's neck, I could feel the lovely warmth of his body, breathe in his enchanting manly scent. I felt like I was in heaven.
"Jackie?" Chester piped up. I could feel his neck vibrating with his deep full voice as he spoke. "I can feel your little heart beating so fast, are you alright?"
I felt my face grow hot. I had no idea he could sense my heartbeat when I was leaning against him. "I-I'm fine," I answered hastily, pulling myself up.
"Are you still afraid of me?" Chester asked, a hint of dejection in his tone.
"No, no! It's not that, I'm not afraid. I'm fine, really." I stumbled over my words like a lovesick fool. I realized I wouldn't have a good excuse if he asked me for the real reason why my heart was fluttering.
Thankfully, the giant didn't push the issue. "Ok, good." He didn't sound entirely convinced. I rubbed his neck with my hand to reassure him.
Changing the subject, he said, "I want to show you something." I snapped back to awareness of the surrounding environment. We had been ascending a steep hill shaded by a canopy of trees. As we emerged from the shadows back into the sun, Chester reached up and plucked me from his collar with his thumb and forefinger. He sat down on a large boulder and placed me on his lap, close to his knee. "What do you think?"
I gasped. From the top of the hill I could see for miles, and the view was a pastoral paradise. Farms and red barns and cottages, presumably the homes of other giants, were scattered across the landscape. The clear blue of the sky overlooked seas of golden grain and verdant foliage. There was a lake that sparkled like a sapphire in the sun. I could make out the figures of ducks skimming across the surface, leaving shimmering ripples in their wake. Other animals--cows, chickens, horses--dotted the countryside. I could even see a few giants, although they looked smaller from so far away.
"It's beautiful," I stated breathlessly.
Chester gently massaged my back with his thumb. "I thought you might like it." I looked up at him and smiled shyly. The sun lit up his face like a painting, making his green eyes shine, and his hair danced in the light breeze. My heart melted like butter. "See, the Land of Giants isn't so bad, now is it?"
"I suppose not," I admitted, not looking away from his face. After a pause, I added, "I'm glad that you're here with me." Chester beamed and scooped me up in his hands.
"Let's go home," he said, and started hiking back down the hill.

(literally im writing ur fic rn ANYWAY) I've been thinking about patching up bam after a hard fall, and he's like totally heart eyes/puppy dog face at you!
OMG YAY IM SO EXCITED FOR IT!! but the idea of patching up bam <333
bam was skating on his ramp they had at the house since it was a nice sunny day in west chester. you were sitting on a lawn chair flipping through a magazine as the sound of bams radio and his board filled any silence there couldve been.
but bam went down a ramp wrong, he had to catch homself with his hands and a knee to prevent anything serious. even though he’s gone down the ramp thousands of times you don’t understand how now he gets hurt. but either way of course you were still concerned.
but since he had to catch himself he didn’t leave the fall without any marks, his knee was scrapped and so were his palms. you immediately jogged up to him and grabbed his wrist gently telling him that he needed to get cleaned up. bam refused at first but you said he needed to put on a new pair of pants anyway so he needed to get cleaned up anyway.
you took him into the kitchen and he hopped onto the counter top next to the sink. you went into the small bathroom downstairs and grabbed the first aid bag ape kept in the house. she was smart to do so because the four boys had used it countless times.
you would first wet a paper towel and clean off his hands, then his knee. he would slightly wince when you wiped his knee off gently, maybe grabbing your shoulder lightly.
then bams least favorite part came up. you would clean it with antibiotic ointment just to make sure the cut was clean and wouldn’t get infected but bam has stated many times he’d rather have it get infected then use the ointment.
“babe can we skip this part?”
“bam i don’t want you to get an infection.”
“but babe it hurts!”
either way you’d end up gently applying the ointment to his hands and knee. bam would scrunch his face when the stinging of the ointment burned his hands more than they did already. maybe even making a groan from the pain.
“sorry bam-bam. i know it hurt but it helps.”
“ow- dont call me that.”
but when you finally apply it to his knee he kicks his leg bg reflex of the sharp burn. you would end up laughing because as a guy who gets hurt for a living he sure couldn’t take some antibiotic ointment on a cut.
he is totally pouting over the fact you’re laughing at him.
“stop laughing! its not funny it hurts!”
when you finally calmed down you put a bandaid on bams knee and he watchs you with his big blue puppy dog eyes.
“kiss it better?”
with an eyeroll you place a gentle kiss on the bandaid and bam is smiling ear-to-ear. he probably would pull you between his legs while he wa son the counter and just lazily wrap his arms around you- something he did often after you patched him up.
“geez all of a sudden i think i hurt my lips, kiss them better?”
“really? oh geez, i can put some antibiotic ointment on them for you.”

‘A Heart of Sunflower, Jazz bar, Daydream, Polaris’ Medley (Chinese ver.) - Handong’s Special Clip Lyric Translation
A Heart of Sunflower
時常深陷於你的夢境 I often fall deep into your dreams 迷失方向去跟隨你 I follow you without a sense of direction 分叉口和我走散的你 You've gone astray from me at the fork in the road 一次又一次推遠了距離 Time after time, the distance between us is pushed further apart 也許等風吹到盡頭那刻起 Perhaps till the wind dies down 燈火漸漸迷離 The lights blurs out 想緊握卻又撲空的曾經 The past I want to hold on tight to, yet slips through 時間似乎告訴我這也許是結局 Time seems to tell me this might be the end 但看著你那一刻起 又回到那原地 But the moment I see you, I go back to that same place 我用盡力氣像最初一樣愛著你 I use all my strength to love you just like the beginning 曾經那份回憶對我來說珍貴無比 To me, those precious memories are incomparable to anything 如果有一天 你重新拾起那散落的碎片 If one day you pick up those scattered fragments 一轉身會發現 我還在你的身邊 Just turn around and you’ll realize I’m still by your side ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jazz Bar
月光照耀玻璃窗的赤紅 The moonlight shines upon the scarlet red glass window 竊竊私語視線迷離 It whispers to me and my vision goes blurry 聽不覺哼唱起了熟悉那旋律 Listen, I hum a familiar melody without knowing 耳邊環繞甜蜜音符 Sweet music notes surround my ears 門縫中散發的 What leaks through the crack of the door 不知不覺悄悄靠近了 Gets closer silently 我猜你也喜歡融化在這浪漫 I guess you like to indulge in this romance too 或許是這夜色 若隱若現曖昧的升溫 Maybe it’s the night vibe, indiscernibly/looming chemistry is getting warmer 眩暈氣息吹過耳邊 停格這瞬間 The infatuating breath flows by my ear and time stops at that moment I feel I love you Oh i love you Oh I like you, do I know you I think I love you Maybe you feel it too
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daydream 太多的話沒說 心裡的悸動 There’s too much I haven’t said, my pounding heart 今天過後 才後知後覺心動 It’s only after today that I know I’m emotional 回望徘徊的我 黃昏的巷口 Lingering in the past, the alley in the dusk 明天過後 是否會想起我 Will you think of me after tomorrow? 晚風入懷落日包圍的窗口 The window that’s surrounded by the night breeze embracing the sunset 將我鎖在夢土上的時空 It locks me in dreamland 無法與那照耀著你的星光相擁 There’s no way to embrace the starlight that shines on you 心中煙花還能綻放多久 How long can the fireworks in my heart blossom? However long the night However long the night tonight 即使看不見黑夜盡頭 Even though we can’t see the end of night However long the night 倒數明天約定 Counting down to tomorrow’s promise 細數繁星的溫柔 The warmth of the sky full of stars 今夜又是格外漫長等候 Tonight is another especially long wait
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Polaris
在那片浩瀚星河之際 In that vast ocean of stars 無盡中 尋找著 彼此的軌跡 Looking endlessly for each other’s orbit 每一夜去抬頭眺望夜空 Every night I look up and survey the night sky 可是你是否也和我一樣 看到同一片星光 But are you like me, looking at the same starlight? 你現在會在哪裡 Where could you be now? 會不會從前一樣 茫茫人海中靠近 Would you be the same as before, approaching the vast sea of people? 藏在心底 最無法代替 屬於你我的記憶 Hidden deep in my heart, the most irreplaceable memories that belong to us 秋風也帶不走那份溫柔 The autumn wind can’t even take away that gentleness 有你的春夏秋冬 When you’re with me 365 days / through all four seasons 踏著辰光去見你 I go see you right when the sun comes up 心中許下同樣的期許 I make the same wish in my heart 伸手擁抱你 很清晰 It is clear for me to reach out and hug you 靠在有你的四季 Being side by side with you in all four seasons 芸芸眾生中延續 Continuing our story just like everyone else

28: A song by an artist with a voice that you love
I love Hozier's voice. The first time I listened to Nina Cried Power was a religious experience for me
26: A song that makes you want to fall in love
Genesis 30:3 by The Mountain Goats. I don't often want to fall in love, I'm not sure what that means, but this song describes something so precious and gentle it makes me want to share that kind of feeling with someone. "I will do what you ask me to do / because of how I feel about you"
24: A song by a band you wish were still together
I deeply regret that I never got to see Linkin Park live while I had the chance. Wretches and Kings is my favourite song by them though that's a hard call to make. Vale Chester Bennington

“Daddy, there’s a new kitty!”
Mike went over to where Otis was excitedly pointing to Cookies. She had just woken up from one of her many naps and was ready to play. Hi, little human. She heard the humans talking but she didn’t know what they were saying. Mike told him she was Bria’s new kitten. What was her name? Cookies. He thought that was a silly name. After laughing, he had him stick out his hand, so she could sniff it. Once she had, he gently pet her.
Good job, buddy! He liked the new kitten. She was so little! Yes, she was. But, she would grow up to be a big cat. Cookies liked him, too. He ran to get his toy dog from his bedroom because he wanted to share it with her. Cookies decided since he was gone, she would go get a drink of water from her bowl. She carefully climbed down from the cat tree and ran as fast as her little legs could go.
Rawr! She jumped and her fur puffed up. The little human was back. Mike told him to be careful and not to scare Cookies because she was just a little kitten. She backed off a little. He picked her up and comforted her by gently petting her. Thank you, human. Otis showed her his toy dog. It was his favorite toy. She sniffed it. It smelled funny. The toy looked like a dog but it didn’t smell like a dog. He pushed a button and it moved around. Yap. Yap. Yap.
She pawed at it, making it fall over. Otis laughed and turned it over, making it start moving again. Bria came home after visiting with her therapist and publicist. It had been a very long afternoon and she was done with human interaction. Mike asked her how everything went.
“There’s a child here, so I’m going to go to my room before I explode.”
“I’ll come up and check on you in a few minutes.”
Yikes. Either she was having an episode or something happened. Chester was on his way over, so he would check on her when he arrived because he didn’t want to leave Otis alone with Cookies. He didn’t think he would hurt her, it was better to be safe than sorry. Besides accidentally scaring her, he was doing a great job of being gentle with her. Misty and Bon Jovi were avoiding the toddler at all costs. They were more than happy to sit back and watch.
Otis gave her one of her toys. Thank you. She sniffed it before batting it with her paw. I’m going to get you! She made herself small before pouncing on the toy. I got you! She grabbed it with her teeth. I’m a great hunter! She imagined herself as a lion out in the Sahara of Africa and she was hunting down her prey. Maybe she caught a zebra. She would bring it back to her pride for dinner.
Yum! She imagined what that would taste like. It wasn’t the same as her toy, but that was okay. She liked playing with it and pretending to be a lion. As a kitten, she was supposed to play. That was how she learned. Just like the little human. Woof. Woof. Otis made his toy bark, as he moved it around on the floor. He pretended it was walking outside. It was a big, strong dog. Just like Misty. He grabbed a pretend bowl and brought it over. That was his dog’s water bowl. Was his dog thirsty? Yes.
“He thirsty. Yum. He likes the water.”
“Good. Dogs like water. So do cats.”
“Okay, you can go back to playing now. I love you, doggy.”
“That was a very nice thing to say. I bet your doggy loves you too.”
He nodded. Bria came back down after going through her episode. She was in a good mood again. Mike asked her if she was okay. Yeah. She came over and sat down with them. He decided not to ask. It was likely just another mood swing. He was happy she went off by herself, instead of blowing up in front of Otis. Borderline Personality Disorder was hard but he would never tolerate her being verbally abusive in front of his son.
Cookies was happy to see her. Hi, human! She went over and crawled in her lap. Bria picked her up and kissed her little forehead. Hello! I love you. She then set her back down in her lap. I love you too, human. They heard the front door open. Misty ran over to see who it was and Mike followed behind her. Chester. They kissed each other.
He bent down to say hello to a very happy and excited Misty. Hi, human! Hi! He laughed before standing up again. Otis was also very excited to see him! He went over to him and sat in his lap, making him laugh. How was Bria? She was good. It was just a long afternoon. She and her publicist went over rumors and publicity for the Grammys, which was the next day.
What rumors? She rolled her eyes. There was one rumor that she was in rehab for an eating disorder. Then there were rumors about her dating various guys, like Leonardo DiCaprio. She never even met him. It was a whole lot of speculation. It was mostly laughable dumb… stuff. They laughed as she tried not to swear. Then, of course, she had to talk about her trauma with her therapist for the millionth time. Even though she knew it was supposed to help her, she didn’t want to go through it over and over.
If her therapist wanted to spend the entire time talking about Jon Bon Jovi, she would be way more happy to do that. They laughed. Did she tell her therapist about her new kitten? She did! Next time, she was going to bring her in with her.
“She can explore the office for an hour.”
“The Grammys are tomorrow”, Chester said.
“Oh, my god. I’m… going to go to bed early because I don’t want people to think I’m drunk when I’m tired as heck. I’m trying so hard not to swear. I also think I’ll be so pumped up that I won’t feel tired until we come home. I’ll just curl up in a ball somewhere and fall asleep.”
They laughed. Linkin Park was nominated for three awards, so they were also anxious but excited. Mike invited her to be his date for the event. Since he and Chester weren’t ‘out’, they didn’t want speculation about their sexuality or relationship. It wasn’t anyone’s business. Just like Rob being bisexual. Chester thought he was adorable.
Was he attracted to him? Not really. He was like a little brother. Mike wasn’t attracted to him, either. Though, if he asked him out, he would give him a chance. Maybe he would change his mind. He was open to that. For now, he was happy with Chester. Otis interrupted his thoughts by announcing he had to go potty.
They both got up and headed towards the bathroom. After helping him in the bathroom, he would start making dinner. The animals saw him getting up, so they started announcing they were hungry. Bon Jovi and Cookies were the loudest.
Meow. Human, I’m hungry! Bria got up and went to fetch their food. Chester laughed, as he followed her to the kitchen. Oh my god! Once the food was distributed, they all started eating. Yum! Otis came out after using the bathroom like a big boy and washing his hands. He showed them his clean hands. Good job, buddy! He sat down and watched the animals eating, while the adults made dinner.

P. What advice would they give to their younger self? (rusty)
"I'd tell him that we never should have cut out Chester... I was mad. I get it. After he'd seen everything I'd been through, it felt like he abandoned me. but... He had Sissy t' worry about. Him and Maggie were young too, an' they didn't have their own feet t' stand on yet. It was.... Selfish, of me, to think that we were more important than his wife and daughter at the time, because I knew the way dad was. It was fine to be angry, to be upset. but he still saved my life, and I shouldn't... have acted like he had to sacrifice his family's safety to make a point that he... stood with me."
"I'd tell him that we weren't... broken. or sick, or sinful or- we're gay. that's where it starts an' ends. And if... if being gay an' unwillin' to judge people for their color, creed, or sexuality was enough t' make the pride fade from Pete Sr, then he didn't need to be proud of us, then we shouldn't have spent so fucking long trying to make him proud of us. That his view of him shouldn't have been so important that a thirteen year old boy should have done what he did to himself. That the aftermath of that first time should have been enough to make us realize Chester didn't hate us, or... fall in line with him. That he was scared. just like us."
"... I'd tell him we're a pretty okay parent, maybe. That Sis turned out alright, all things considered. I'd tell him that we never quite stop achin'? From that night a few weeks 'fore we leave home forever, when he thought nobody was gonna come home fer hours so he opened 'imself up in the bathtub and waited for it all t' go away. It was too much hurt for a person so young, a kid so small. I get where we were comin' from- but that the aftermath will be more permanent than the two scars I'm hidin' under tattoos now. That we'll always see that five year old girl in her face, rushing through the house to find us just as th' world starts fadin' out. That it wasn't an angel that found us, concedin' to the rot that man leaked into our soul, but somebody who never deserved t' see somethin' so awful so soon... I'd tell him to thank her. Hold her even closer when she comes to his room with her toys and he can't hardly move in the aftermath. Because it'll only be a couple weeks, and then a whole half-decade before you never see her again. it'll bite at you. That her last memories of you are near dead in a tub and screamin' up and down at your dad that he should just kill ya."
"I'd tell him not to come home. That Sissy would miss her friends, but god, God maybe she'd hurt less. That we've done our best, keepin' her safe and happy. But it's all been at a cost. And maybe that cost is too fucking high, Maybe New York would be different, Huntsville permanently in our rearview. Lee'd be alive. He wouldn't know the way it aches t' love so desperately and then lose it. Wouldn't know the fear that it might happen again, years later. I'd tell him to be gentle but tell Sissy they can't go home. That she'll make new friends. That things can be better, in a place without yer hanging tree and treehouse in th' same set a branches and bloodstains on the carpet of a childhood bedroom they stripped of every last sign of you the second you left."
"I'd tell him that we were right, just that once. Huntsville is a hole, it's hell, and the people trapped in it don't justify the martyr he became... the martyr I'm still trying to become."
