I saw Transformers: Rise of the Beasts! Spoilers ahoy:

I found Mirage annoying, but very much appreciated the level of homoeroticism he had with Noah. Noah wears parts of Mirage’s body as a suit! (Plus obviously the whole “you’ve been INSIDE me!” bit). I wish they had dialed him back to be less comic relief though … he doesn’t have to be snobby pretty boy G1 Mirage, just. Less jokes.

I enjoyed the early-2000s Transformers references like Scourge as a dark Optimus Prime and ESPECIALLY Airrazor as a herald of Unicron.

The whole time travel aspect of the Maximals was nicely done. Not foregrounded, but present if you put the pieces together/have BW knowledge.

Unicron himself was nice but I want more! NGL I was hoping he’d get Optimus at the end because that’d be a fun new direction. But alas.

Not particularly enthused about GI Joe. It’s too rah-rah-US-militarism for me.

Completely unrelated, but the TMNT trailer made me actually want to see it.
