FFXIV Forum

Fuck it, let's try again.

Some time ago I created a forum that didn't stay lively for very long, unfortunately, but I don't want to give up on it as I think forums offer something that no other tool for online community can offer: an actual community that doesn't rely on everyone acting like their own PR/marketing team.

So here it is, in case anyone's interested:

What does it have to offer?

A place to meet artists and roleplayers from the FFXIV fandom, where you won't be assailed by notifications like a Discord server, that's LGBTQ-friendly and won't ask you to post all the time to remain visible (contrary to social media).

What you'll find:

RP sections for your RP threads, easier to manage than on Tumblr, and without the pressure of being seen online on Discord because you wanted to talk to your friends but aren't in the mood for RP

A place to get help to create your character or write an NPC, if you're feeling insecure and want to try your hand at writing/roleplaying

Galleries for your writing, fanarts, screenshots, irl craft, etc. where you don't have to worry about peak hours to be seen

Forums where you can gush about your own characters and get asked questions: no need to have a big following anymore!

A place where you can discuss the lore and share your meta analysis to your heart content

A place to organize your own in-game event and promote it, once again without needing to build a big enough following for it to be noticed!

Yes, there's a NSFW section (that you have to ask to get access to). Forumactif—the host—is not in favor of this, however, so if Etheirys has enough success I might consider hosting it myself (but I'm not rich so we'll start with the free alternative for now and just keep it on the low XD)

And more!

I am taking suggestions to improve it and I'll gladly help you and answer your questions if you're not familiar with forums (or this sort of forums, anyways).

For those who don't know me or find me intimidating to talk to (I know it has happened) I've been leading communities big and small for about 18 years now, and I've always put a big emphasis on fairness, communication and patience.

Alright, so are we ever going to find out just what the Source and the shards actually look like from space? We already know that Etheirys itself and the moon were sundered, but what does that look like in regards to the rest of its solar system? Do they all revolve around the same sun, or do they all have its own sun? What about any other planets? Look, I just need to know how it all works cosmologically speaking, because I’m a big ass nerd. Also its 8 am on a Monday morning and I need more sleep.

I am thinking about how Midgardsormr doesn't use his Dragonspeak name, can't find the source but I remember reading he keeps it a secret.

I think Hydaelyn gave him the name Midgardsormr.

And not just him. The Great Wyrms and early generations of dragons all have names different than typical Dragonspeak.

He gave his children names Hydaelyn suggested to him. Or the mortal peoples at the time.

He wanted to give them a clean start on the new star.

Even when Nidhogg's brood turned away from mortals, he kept the names, possibly out of respect for his father's sacrifice.

And maybe Hydaelyn was using the names of departed cultures from Etheirys.

There are real-world explanations for the name differences: Dragonspeak wasn't created until Heavensward, legacy Final Fantasy names for dragons like Bahamut and Midgardsormr popped up in-story before that. But the dragon storylines use linguistics for fun worldbuilding and characterization beats a lot anyways.

6. Yarzon - What the oddest thing you find cute? Why?

only oc's of mine that fit this question are patroclus and kirke varying reasons;

patroclus thinks creepy crawlies like giant bugs, deadly plants, bloodthirsty beasts, extraterrestrial entities, and aether-starved voidsent are cute, often times adorable. he'll absolutely lose his mind over the prospect of hugging a bhoot or an ahriman—or something insane like cerberus. it tends to unnerve most of his friends and family members, and he doesn't understand why. to him, they're just as cute as a fluffy moogle or chocobo chick... right down to their deadly poison and claws sharp enough to bisect a man

kirke is on the opposite side of the 'wtf spectrum' and thinks the insides of the human body are cute, or watching someone slowly succumb to torture, or chimeric abominations. she has the same personality as her creator, so it's not like she can help it. just don't get grievously injured around her, kirke will squee and coo at your mangled body instead of helping you

🛁 : A bathing headcanon

I headcanon that most bathing facilities within Eorzea as well as the Far East, Thavnair, and Doma are Roman-style bathing with the genders bathing together. This is especially in places like The Waking Sands or The Rising Stones, where space (and water) are at a premium and they can't really have separate bathing rooms by gender. Public baths are common and private bathing rooms are often only found in the manors and estates of the wealthy and powerful.

bound: Has your OC ever been imprisoned or captured? What happened? How did they get out? Did the experience leave any scars?

I have an answer to this i don't know if it fits 100% because she wasn't aware of her imprisonment until much later but it has to do with her life before being the champion of eorzea.

First of all eva was born in, let's say, a facility within sharlayan. she had no memories of it throughout most of the msq, though when she came back to the place she once called home, she realised that a lot of the memories that she had were not accurate when compared to those around her. eva was kept in this facility, in a deep sleep, until the time was right and the warrior of light was needed once again. she has a scar on her chest, proof that she received adam' soul ( he was considered the true warrior of light however he died during the calamity).

Once she learnt the truth her mind kind of broke, she was plagued with doubt, impostor syndrome and a lot of questioning her own existence which were worse scars that the one she has on her chest.

The Spring is coming back and with it a lot more energy to people who haven't seen the sun in a while. And if you're in the South Hemisphere, well then, some fun might be good to welcome the Fall :D

Do I have an excuse for any season? Yes, I do.
