In case anyone needs a refresher (from Wikipedia):
The series is a reality competition in which the contestants work as a group to add money to a pot that only one of them will eventually win. Among the contestants is one person who has secretly been designated "the Mole" by the producers, tasked with sabotaging the group's money-making efforts.

honestly? i don't know where to start. Emma Ingram to Adeel
"There's plenty of ways to start if you put your mind to it." She responded, gaze going over to the other as her hand still moved with the pen in her hand.
The woman found herself responding to the other. She had been asked to meet one of the youth who had become accustomed to the life of the Cycle, meeting them in a type of place she had long forgotten about existing. A cafe, something she hadn't been to in so long that she had nearly forgotten it was a type of establishment that humans had.
Instead, she came across a human, one that she could feel the imbalance of within. She knew these types of humans existed, ones to help keep order within the universe that she had to make herself, but it was a rare chance to communicate with them like this. It was... Interesting, and she supposed she was looking to understand what they were like.
"I've overheard the season special is decent. I'm more of a black person, but perhaps that may be more your speed." Or maybe it was for the youth of this time period, given how sugar addicted they were- "If you want something more basic, just ask for the house special. Nothin' to go wrong with that, right?"

For end of the year book asks: 7 and 31 🧡
7. The oldest book you read this year
Emma takes the prize, having been published in 1815, though honorable mention to my re-read of Frankenstein, which was published just three years later. I'd never read it before (I actually only read my first Austen, Pride and Prejudice, a few years ago), and I was glad that I'd seen the 2009 miniseries because otherwise I would have been pretty lost. This book has a lot of characters and a lot of stories but it often feels like nothing's really happening. That's not a slight - Austen knew what she was doing, and the form of this book is shaped by its protagonist, who is so concerned with others that she sometimes forgets to live her own life. It was challenging to read at times, but also very rewarding, and more than occasionally, laugh out loud funny.
31. Did you read any translations?
I started reading Fruits Basket last year, and I finished it up in February of this year!
I wished I enjoyed this manga more than I did, and there were characters I genuinely cared about, but I mostly just felt overwhelmed with how many plot lines were going on and struggled to remember small details that seemed to come back in significant ways. I think watching an anime adaptation of it first would have helped me. Maybe I'll return to this one in the future and get the good feels I missed out on 😇
