such a strange girl + someone spiked the punch with steve harrington? where maybe r is a fairy and loves to go around secretly pranking people but when it comes to steve she loves to leave him little secret handmade gifts?
join luveline's halloween party ♡
tysm for ur req baby! ditzy!fairy!fem!reader
Steve spots the little box in his cubby at work and goes very still, because he knows exactly what you're like. You get into places you can't possibly get into and leave your weird trinkets, rocks and pressed flowers and bugs suspended in amber. Robin had found one herself last week, a spider wrapped in orange resin. She'd thought it was cool, and taken it home, and the resin had dissolved and let her spider loose.
He doesn't want to open the box, lest something sweet turn out to be a prank.
But you always smile so nicely at him. He's curious.
He glances over his shoulder before picking the box up with stiff fingers from the autumn chill outside, untying the black ribbon holding the lid on and prying it open, box held away from his face in case something goes poof.
Silence. He peeks through his lashes and finds a small felt flower, a black dahlia made of intricate, neatly trimmed pieces.
A note is curled into a scroll on top, but when he unfurls it he's dissapointed to find only three words.
Happy Hallow's Eve.
"Do you like it?" you ask.
He flinches hard. Your disregard for the employees only sign might get him fired, and your ability to suddenly and silently creep up on him will kill him, one day.
"It's awesome," he says genuinely, though his voice sounds far away, heart pump-pump-pumping in his ears.
You bite your lip like you're tamping down a smile before you cross the room and throw your arms around him. He's not so surprised at your need for affection — quiet you may be, but shy you most certainly aren't — and he wraps his arms around you familiarly, careful not to squash your handmade craft. You smell like grass and flowers and something heady.
"I haven't, uh, made you anything."
You look up, your eyes impossibly light and dark at the same time. "That's okay, Stevie, I didn't expect you to. I like making you stuff, anyway."
He coughs. "Yeah, about that. It's not going to turn into a weird little creature that suffocates me in my sleep, is it? Mike's still sleeping with a night-light."
You frown. "Why would it do that?"
"'Cause you like scaring people?"
"Yeah, but not you," you say, like it's super obvious and he's silly for thinking otherwise. You nuzzle your face back under his chin and squeeze his ribs.
He peers over your shoulder at the gift in his hand, finding he really likes the implication of what you said. "Not me, huh?" he asks, pressing the side of his face to the top of your head.
"You don't play games with someone when you're courting."
He raises his eyebrows. "Duh," he says, like a liar. He makes a mental note to ask Robin what 'courting' means.

okay, here it goes:
shy! inexperienced! ditzy! reader x steve harrington
*r = reader
so imagine r works at a flower shop and has a very soft, fairytale like vibe and aesthetic to her. she’s obsessed with flowers and knows the meanings of each one, she likes putting lil flowers in her braids, she acts very similar to luna lovegood y’know? skipping instead of walking and saying whatever’s on her mind and having interests considered weird. her and steve are secretly in love with each other and r’s way of showing her affections to him is by gift giving— baking him sweets, making him a handmade necklace with his birth flower pressed on it, giving him her favorite ring, and giving him whatever else she thinks is pretty. like pretty rocks and pretty flowers and pretty crystals and pretty trinkets. r always giggles and blushes whenever her stevie is nice to her and she just wants to love on him as much as possible while unbeknownst to her steve just wants to spoil her as much as possible.
steve is absolutely in love with his flower girl, everything about her is perfect for him and she makes him feel like he’s in a disney movie pining after the pretty princess. he’s her dream come true if you ask her. however, giving the fact she’s entirely inexperienced and introverted, steve doesn’t know how to make a move on her without scaring her away.
it turns out that when she gives him her first kiss, steve’s knees buckle and he melts and they can’t let go of each other, whines and whimpers and moans are audible, and steve just kisses her over and over again until he asks her to please be her boyfriend.
fluffy friends to lovers with clingy! lovesick! steve and his shy! giggly! girl
HARMONIA HOW COULD U DO THIS TO ME I’M SCREAMING. also this got out of hand i adore this i wrote A LOT
i’m thinking about the first time steve and his best girl kiss.
you skip down the street, bunch of flowers in hand and practically vibrating with energy; your usual placid demeanour replaced with something fiercer, something only steve ignites in you. in the other hand you clutch a plate of warm cookies, freshly baked for your best boy.
when you turn into family video, the ruffles of your long skirt wafting around you, robin wolf whistles. you giggle.
“steve, your girlfriend is here!” she singsongs; you grimace slightly.
“i’m not- not his girlfriend, rob,” you murmur, ever soft spoken. months of pining and gift giving and a strong friendship, and you’re not entirely sure your feelings are reciprocated. you set down the bunch of handpicked dahlias paired fittingly with carnations: representative of a lasting bond— pure, innocent love. something to be cherished. whether you’re his girlfriend or not, it’s clear how much you adore that boy. even if you’re totally out of your depth when it comes to relationships.
steve’s already grinning when he turns the corner and approaches you.
“hi, flower,” he coos, picking up the bunch of flowers with a reverence you deem exuberant. “these for me?”
“yeah,” you mumble shyly, picking at your fingers as he examines them. robin thinks she sees hearts in his eyes. “you like ‘em?”
“you kidding?” he asks, breaking into the most gorgeous, rapturous grin. “i love them! thanks, babe.”
“brought you these, too,” you whisper. “thought they might make work easier.”
his heart clenches at your demeanour, the way you hide in on yourself for fear of disappointing him; like you could ever, you hang his moon and his stars, his flower princess.
“you’re an angel, you know that?” he asks. your cheeks heat and the feeling spreads, all the way down your body with white-hot affection. you’re pleased. steve continues, “why don’t you hang around for a while? havin’ you would make work easier.”
“okay.” you say, ecstatic that he asked. both of your hearts ache for each other, wanting, needing to be close, to be connected. the tension is so thick that you almost bow under the weight of it.
he holds out his hand to lead you around the back of the shop where he’s been stacking tapes. it’s quiet and you hold the ends of his fingers oh so gently. when he turns to face you, he’s much closer than he was before. and no matter how nervous you are, you can’t move away. he seems similarly trapped by your proximity. you step closer, hands trembling. steve exhales.
“angel.” he murmurs. you nod, bumping your nose with his. you don’t remember ever being this close to someone before. “baby, i really want to kiss you. would that be okay?”
you nod once and he presses for more, those honeyed brown eyes filled with concern and anticipation even as his hand comes up to cradle your jaw.
“i want it to be you, steve. i do.” you gulp. “you know i haven’t- you know - kissed anyone before?”
“i know,” he says. he’s melting and soft, voice low so as not to scare you. “that’s okay. but i still really want to kiss you, if you’ll let me.”
you don’t share any more words before pressing your lips to his; it starts slow, controlled before steve relents and grabs your face, coaxing your lips to part with his tongue and licking into your mouth with a groan. you match him with equal enthusiasm, standing on your tippy toes to card a hand through his chocolate locks.
“oh,” he sighs, the relief of him finally having you where he wants you palpable. you smile but refuse to pull away, pushing yourself closer to him. his knees actually buckle and he moans into your mouth, wrapping thick arms around your waist to keep you flush to him.
“steve,” you whine as he pulls away. his pillowed lips next find a home on your forehead, your cheeks, the very tip of your nose, the dimple of your chin.
“angel.” he grins and kisses your neck. “please, angel.” your lips again. “i need you.” the crown of your head. “please let me be your boyfriend.”
you nod vehemently, overcome with love.
“stevie, i want you to be my boyfriend.”
“you do?”
“i do.”
“my girl.” he tests the words on his tongue. “my girlfriend.”
“my boyfriend,” you giggle back.
“yours, flower.”

mimi miney literally has so much in common with other criminals in aa
mimi and april are both women who were driven (haha get it) to do Bad Crimey Shit because of their horrible bosses. they both used an outward appearance to deceive the court. they were also both in some ways victims of their circumstances. they had to hide their real feelings and thoughts into just being a clueless ditzy girl.
mimi and dee both lost a loved one in a very very traumatic way and wished to seek revenge on them. also morally grey
mimi and yanni both had to completely suppress who they were to put on a more stupid persona after suffering blame for a crime + the loss of a loved one
mimi and lana both, in some way, did what they did for the sake of their younger sisters, with lana doing it to protect ema and with mimi doing it to get revenge for the man who (technically) killed ini
her and acro were both people who are very morally grey and suffered the deaths of two people that really affected them, with their siblings death basically pushing them to harm someone they see as responsible
dahlia and mimi both Dyed Their Hair Red For Reasons Related To Their Kind Of Fucked Up Past

Since there're complaints that using a Seven Dwarfs analog for Asha’s friend group reduced them to props because there isn't enough screen time to develop all of them, would three friends based on the Three Good Fairies have worked better?
Dahlia is based on Doc, but she works as a Flora analog too as a matronly figure in red who has the ideas and tries to keep order. She just needs a ditzy sweetheart in green and an aggressive pessimist in blue (fulfilling Gabo’s role, I guess) to mediate. As for their names, the themes are right there: One named after a plant (also applies to Dahlia), one named after an animal, and the last named after something in the sky.
And before anyone complains about too many girls, all three don't have to be girls. Make the Fauna and the Merryweather male, then you have an equal gender balance with Asha and Dahlia.

I swear I’m working on other requests but I definitely went a bit too hard on this one. @aarcanaa
This is getting out of WTTT and into my own OC territory but I hope y’all don’t hate me too much. I intended to add L.A. too but TBH I don’t think I’ve spent enough time in L.A. to feel confident with a design right now. Also I personally have a lot of negative feelings toward L.A. so it may be a bit unfairly biased.
Anyway, some notes about my interpretations (and a sketch of San Diego v.2) below:
Fun fact; I live in a super rural part of California literal hours away from the nearest major city (which is actually Las Vegas, Nevada) so my experience of being a Californian is a bit uh... different. Cities terrify me a bit (see my notes on L.A. above) but I’ve been to most of the CA cities at least once. Out of all of them, I’ve actually spent the most time in San Diego.
Anyway, enough rambling; here’s some notes about them. Keep in mind, these are just my interpretations based on my own experiences.
San Francisco:
-Nonbinary; uses they/them pronouns. (I can’t get the idea of them saying “My name is San FranCISco but I’m anything but” out of my head.)
-Has a lot of super artsy and well-executed tattoos (pretend I can draw them correctly!) Most of them are exactly what you’d expect, but some of them are truly bizarre. Many of them cover burn scars.
-Apparently SF’s official city flower is the dahlia, so they’re wearing a vague approximation of a dahlia.
-Has a semi one-sided rivalry with L.A. (L.A. is too busy with her own shit to care as much) I think this somewhat originally stemmed from the jealousy of L.A. overtaking San Francisco as the largest city in CA, but it continues because of their clashing personalities.
-Is rich AF but attempts to dress and act like they’re not. Wouldn’t want to be like L.A.; that’s what they’ll say. But they will 100% humblebrag about their latest expensive gadget purchase whenever given the opportunity.
-Leans 110% into every single thing they do; they are seemingly incapable of half-assing something. This is their boom town mindset in action- first it was gold, now it’s tech. They are a MASSIVE overachiever, and this leads to them always being stressed-while-pretending-not-to-be-stressed.
-Acts kind of spoiled and haughty and can be a judgmental asshole sometimes, but despite this, they actually do care about people. When shit hits the fan, they’re the first one to lend a hand. Maybe it comes from coming close to dying multiple times (in the way that personifications can actually die, not just silly accidents) that gives them a deep sense of empathy and awareness of their own mortality. This leads them to champion causes that seek to make the world a better place. They’re not perfect and sometimes things backfire, but they do try.
San Diego:
-Cis female; she/her.
-Canonically (at least in WTTT) California’s favorite city. She knows this and tries to work him to her advantage to get what she wants.
-She’s basically sunshine personified. She’s super bubbly, outgoing, and generally friendly. Unlike the other California cities, she is actually genuinely laid-back and relatively stress-free.
-She’s very book smart, especially with numbers and engineering-related things, but she often acts outwardly ditzy and carefree, leading some people to doubt her intelligence. However, when she gets to work she can prove herself immediately.
-Historically, she was overshadowed by the other cities. At times, they even forget she existed, despite her trying her best to make herself stand out. I found this great quote from a 1920s businessman:
“What is the matter with San Diego? Why is it not the metropolis and seaport that its geographical and other unique advantages entitle it to be? Why does San Diego always just miss the train, somehow?"
-Despite being perpetually overshadowed and ignored, or maybe because of it, she forged her own identity. She didn’t feel like she had to uphold any rigid standards like the others did, so she became much more chill.
-She can be very flaky; don’t try to make plans with her, she’ll either forget or get distracted by something else. If you want to hang out with her, you just have to go with her flow.
-She can speak Spanish fluently and is best friends with TJ (Tijuana).
-She’s super fit and could beat you up, but she won’t.
-San Diego is well-known for having a large military presence, so I had to include San Diego in her day job attire. (Ssh, pretend I know about military stuff and got her uniform accurate) She can go from hippie mode to drill sergeant mode in an instant, but only when someone has really fucked up.

Anyway, thanks for sticking with me!

Time for me to post more TF2 related fuckery 🫵🤨 (fun fact I more or less came up with her for an au I have with @comet-wire but why not post a sketchie of her 🗿)
Tumblr media
I will.. say that she has transition lenses in regards to her glasses being normal. She's an Aussie with German parents, and her interests were leaning a little more towards wildlife research before she began with her job. Her job also mainly entailed her doing hits for hire on the side before it really developed, and she was hired as part of Mann Co. She's much less serious in comparison to Sniper, namely in the sense that she'll drop everything just to talk about something she finds interesting. (Example: If she sees a frog hop by, she'll likely know about that frog and will want to talk about it.)
She's a tall and lanky individual, and very awkward in nature. (Also a bit ditzy. Takes her like an hour to understand a joke.) Definitely manages to have awkward rizz though given she almost always has some sort of evidence of being loved on my her girlfriend Dahlia.
She definitely has some expressions alright. She manages to look like the MS Paint Tails drawing (as pictured above w/ Mina) quite frequently, and for no reason just generally looks like she's perturbed about something. (Upon asking if she's okay she usually will say a very general statement, such as "just wondering what I want for dinner", while she looks like she's having war flashbacks or something.)

Ohk.. Tell me something about Your fankids
(poke, contest, ikari)Btw they are sooo cute and precious!
Hi!
Thanks for appreciating the kids! It makes me happy someone finally asked about them lol. Pokeshipping: Kiyoshi/ Ronan Ketchum is actually the 2nd out of Ash and Misty's 3 kids. Unlike his parents who are so determined on becoming Pokemon Masters and claiming titles, which his eldest sister Akane/Lori shares, he doesn't care much about status. Kiyoshi is lazy boy and does not really have much passion initially. He feels secured on his status as the Champion and Elite's child and thinks that everyone is already aiming to be a Pokemon Master of some sort. He loves playing his games and doing cooped up in his room. He actually does not mind staying at home in Pallet Town and just grow up helping grandma in her cafe and live a peaceful life. Kiyoshi has a very sharp mind, puzzle solving skills and empathetic nature. He loves Pokemon a lot too but not the training part.
When he turns 10, Ash and Misty had to push him to finally go out and explore the world. They believe that he is too young to just stay inside plus he is way too smart for school. Kiyoshi intently arrived late at the lab so he can have an excuse to never leave. His mother read him like an open book and surprised him with a Chinchou to bring with him. He finally agreed and head out for his adventures. He becomes interested in traveling after knowing that there were mysteries and cases in each town that has not been solved. Pokemon: Chinchou, Meowth, Growlithe, Natu, Misdreavous, Nuzleaf Contestshipping: Ayaka/ Dahlia is the eldest daughter of May and Drew. She have a younger sister. She was so exposed to Pokemon Coordinators since she was a kid that she wanted to become one herself. Her favorite is any grass type Pokemon and she is determined to study anything about them. She is a total big Erika fangirl so she made her way to Kanto to study under her. Clumsy and ditzy but very hardworking.
In Celadon, Ayaka met Kiyoshi and became friends after he solved a case involving a missing Pokemon. Even though she was 5 years older than him, she was so impressed by his detective skills that she decided to ask him for help to find her travel companion's missing Pokemon. Over time, Kiyoshi figured out that Ayaka was actually his sister's companion who she had a fallout with due to the missing pokemon.
Her first pokemon is Sprigatito because she chose to study in Paldea to start her Pokemon Journey. Pokemon: Sprigatito (evolves to Meowscarada), Dolliv, Applin, Bellossom, Abomasnow, Parasect, Rowlet Ikarishipping: Shiori/Prairie is the only daughter of Paul and Dawn. Her parent's divorced when she was a kid and now she lives with her Mom and Step-Mom, Zoey. Like Ayaka, she was exposed to Pokemon coordinating since she was a baby but she grew up very neutral about it. She is shy, quiet and sweet and people usually underestimates her for that but just like Paul and Dawn, she had a great battle sense. She is considered very beautiful but after seeing her father's pokemon battle with a girl from Kanto (Akane), she became determined to better herself.
She wanted to challenge herself so she asked her moms to send her to Kanto plus she wanted to meet Akane again. Her favourite Pokemon is a bidoof which Paul gave to her on her 10th birthday. She received Bulbasaur from Prof. Gary and she went on her journey the same day as Kiyoshi did yet they only met when they were both in Pewter City. Kiyoshi found her in front of the gym hesitating on going in because she was having anxiety with talking to people. With a push, Kiyoshi accompanied Shiori in the gym and faced Forrester. There she got her first gym badge. She wanted to thank him but he already left. Shiori met Kiyoshi and Ayaka in Saffron City. With the knowledge that they are heading to Vermillion, Ayaka invited her to their journey. Pokemon: Bidoof, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Abra, Machop, Munchlax - she evolves them all over time. *Additional* Akane is Kiyoshi's eldest sister and Ayaka's travel buddy. She is hotheaded and impulsive like their parent's young self. She took on Paul when she came to Sinnoh and she loves battling so much. But due to a tragedy, she changed and became more obsessed with winning.
----- I hope to write more about my Pokemon FanKids! I hope i can be more in detail but it'll take us dayssss lmao.

He really is. Well you know how I said my friend's father took away all her social media so we can't talk at all...... my ex was one of her personality alters, she had multiple personality disorder and yes, she was fine with me and her alter dating. Even though he was surly irritating at times because he was a dense bitch god he meant so well and was so sweet- he is like a ditzy blonde bimbo but he's also smart at the same time. He's just the biggest goofball ever..... he never failed to make me smile and make me feel better. He always made me feel safe and loved and cared for and never left my side no matter how hard I pushed him and threatened him to leave me..... which I'm thankful for since that was my BPD and fight or flight sense kicking in really bad...... he made me feel so vulnerable and enough to trust him with a part of me I like to keep a secret because of what it deals with. He accepted me as I was and when I first met him I fell for him instantly.... it was kind of a stupid reason that made me fall in love with him but he knew and liked one of my favorite 80s rockbands ever, Cinderella. His favorite band is Motley Crue and his favorite album is Dr. Feelgood while his favorite song was Sticky Sweet...... He was absolutely perfect..... he was just as fucked up as me in every way possible and even worse than me....... he has a certain paraphilia I don't quite approve of but I am not one to judge due to it being due to other reasons I don't want to speak of and it's not my place to speak of his trauma and issues....... but he indulged himself and help me find comfort in myself with my paraphilias and fetishes and I am forever grateful for the fact he never looked at me as a monster for them but rather used them to his advantage whenever he wanted to do things...... he was perfect in every way and god- the petnames- he had me wrapped around my finger..... I truly love him as I do my fiancés....... he's my Carnage..... and he called me his Belladonna, as in the poisoness plant Nightshade and he also called me Dahlia because one of my favorite cases is The Black Dahlia case..... he said I was just as beautiful as she and was as deadly and venomous as Nightshade......
Sorry for ranting a little- but ya...... there's alot more
— ❤️‍🔥
i’m so sorry that happened. he does sound like such an angel :( i had an ex i called my Belladonna as well and that just threw me back 💔 maybe one day you guys will meet again. some people come and go throughout life and it’s always such a painful mystery to me. can people really just disappear forever? if dedicated to find each other, i believe they’ll be found. i do have very weird view on life and people. it’s too positive for the way that the world is. as long as you don’t die young, i do believe you’ll find him again. if not him, then some how the miraculous better. never settle and keep looking till you find someone who truly makes you feel amazing. you deserve someone who makes you feel good <3

Since the game offers no true route to happiness, Rosemary decides to forge her own path; to avoid marriage with the suitors, she'll have to skip their story routes and fix their deviance. She’ll navigate palace and marriage politics, kidnappings, and the threat of war, all while contending with a world that’s drifting further from the game she remembers. “100%” game completion isn’t all it’s cracked up to be— sometimes, “0%” is the route to a dream life! we can find each other this way, i believe
for the tww flowershop au, created here!!
for ariel and bianca, and everyone who’s helped create this lovely universe<3
title from Come and Find Me by Josh Ritters, a song @aerielz introduced me to that we both now think should be this au’s anthem. seriously, listen to it.
Toby opens every morning, bright and early. Comes with the job of owning the shop, he supposes. But still, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for Sam to relieve him of the duty for once.
He hears a shuffle at the door, keys jingling, and looks up without a word.
“Morning, Toby!” Donna breezes in, all sunshine and cheerfulness even at 6 AM— she’s exactly who people expect to work at a flower shop. He is decidedly not.
“Hey, Donna,” he mutters, lost in thought. Something’s happening this morning, something big that’s lying in the back of his mind, almost close enough to remember but just out of reach.
“Is there- do we have a big order we’re doing today?”
She frowns. “No, not that I know of, at least. Why, do you want me to do something?”
He shakes his head, giving her a sideways look. “Aren’t you busy enough?”
“Yeah, I really am,” she sighs, dropping her keys on the counter and jumping onto it, like his remark had been some invitation to vent. It had not been, as a matter of fact.
“I love my job, don’t get me wrong. But Josh doesn’t let me do anything! I’m stuck working on bacon in the back-“
“Bacon? Is that some tattoo shop slang I'm not aware of? Or— Donna, please don’t tell me it’s a sex thing.”
Donna gives him a petulant look, eerily similar to how his older sisters looked as kids when they hadn’t given what they wanted. “You’d think so, but it’s actual bacon. They seem to think I’m training to be a butcher, not a tattoo artist.”
Toby lets out an uncharacteristic laugh and sits next to her, mind filled with images of a future Donna with dyed hair and full tattoo sleeves.
She shoves him off the counter. “What?”
“Come on, it’s funny! You’re Donna Moss, you really want to work at a tattoo parlor?”
She turns her head firmly, staring straight at him. “Yeah! Yeah, I do. I want to work everywhere and learn everything and not just be Donna Moss, the blonde ditzy girl who can’t stick to a major.”
Well, he can understand that. Donnatella Moss is an interesting girl, the opposite of what he had expected to find in someone as— well, as blonde and sweet and young as her. But ever since she had walked in, incessantly asking questions about his shop and practically begging for a job, Donna hasn't stopped surprising him. She’s eager to learn everything about everything, flower meanings and proper bouquet arranging and the ins and outs of running a small business. She’s a business major— well, sort of. He said that tentatively because Donna had changed majors over and over again through the years he had known her. But this one seems like it’ll stick. She has a knack for business, enough of a knack that she had been able to talk herself into jobs at two stores on the same block.
As much as Toby judged her at first, he has to admit that she knew what she was doing. And he doesn’t want to lose one of his best employees— not that he would ever tell her that— but he isn’t about to hold her back from something that for some reason, she seems very interested in.
“Okay. Then I say do it. If that’s what you want, the shop can operate without you.”
“Uh, you know I’ve already been working there, right? I don’t need your permission for everything, you ass.”
The combination of Donna’s snark and the ridiculously big grin on her face almost makes Toby laugh.
“Hey, I’m still your boss. I should have gotten rid of you when I had the chance,” he groans.
“I mean, I already have a job lined up! It’s been like two weeks, I’m sure they’d take me full time if I asked—“
“Shut it, Blondie.”
“Don’t call me that.” She rolls her eyes, but the whisper of a smile on her face gives her away. “Speaking of working at a tattoo parlor—“
A smile grows on her face as Toby shifts uncomfortably in his spot.
“Donna, I swear—“
“Oh, don’t even try and deny it, just tell me how you're going to woo her.”
“Woo her? What is this, one of your Cary Grant movies? This isn’t the 1930s.”
“Um, Cary Grant was the 1940s. Well, and 50s. And I know what year it is, the year doesn’t matter,” she says with a bright smile, pushing herself off the counter and landing solidly on the tile. “Every girl wants to be wooed, Tobias. You work at a flower shop, she’s upstairs, give her a rose or something!”
“God, it’s like I haven’t taught you anything. A rose is nowhere near the most romantic flower, it’s too cliche,” he mutters. He’s barely listening to her response, though, too busy imagining what would happen if CJ knew the full truth behind the bouquets he gives her every morning. His gift for her every single day, love and adoration and strength, placed delicately in a vase and arranged to perfection. And she still thinks it is just a decoration for her shop, a way to brighten up the waiting room in between the burly guys and terrifying girls who frequented the tattoo parlor. CJ had no idea what the flowers really meant.
Donna grabs a handful of blood red roses, camellias and carnations from the shelf— a handful that had probably been painstakingly put together and shelved by him, or Sam, or Ginger, or even Donna herself two days prior— and threads one through her hair with a concentration and precision Toby envies. She holds the rest out to him with a knowing look.
“Sometimes cliches are cliche for a reason.”
A retort dances on the tip of his tongue, a retort that will surely remind Donna he isn’t about to take romantic advice from a woman whose only experience is with douchey ex-boyfriends and her new boss— the boss she had pined after for years, long before she had been given a job.
But he doesn’t get a chance to answer before the old bell rings on the door, pulling him out of his thoughts. Toby looks up— and in less than a minute, he’s finding the customer the exact right flower to give to a new neighbor (forsythia, for anticipation of good things to come, apple blossoms, for good fortune, and peppermint, for cordiality).
It reminds him of the flowers he gave to CJ when she first moved in, after they met for the first time. He still remembers the way she looked, walking into the shop, her ever-present grace and fire shaking him to his core. The customer leaves and he’s left to stare at his wall of flowers, nothing to focus on but Ginger and Bonnie’s quiet whispers in the storeroom and the pounding rhythm from the deafening music upstairs. He only sits for a minute before his mind drifts back to thoughts of CJ.
And in a second, like someone had whispered it into his ear, he remembers exactly why today was a big day. Six months ago, she had started her tattoo shop. Five months and three weeks ago, he’d seen her face through a glass door and his heart had practically stopped. She said she likes surprises— a small detail that’s managed to stay in his memory for all these months, like a diamond buried in sand waiting for someone to come along and lift it out. And if his father had been able to charm her with flowers, so can he. He’s a hell of a lot more likable than his father. But that isn’t the point, Toby reminds himself. The point is to celebrate his friend’s victory. If there was ever an occasion for flowers, this is it.
He decides to create a bouquet that reminds him of her— daffodils and dahlias and daisies, gladiolus and ivy and yellow jasmine and kennedia. He doesn’t dwell on what they mean for too long, the sentiment behind the flowers obvious to him but hopefully not to anyone else. His plan fails in a remarkably short time.
“Hey, boss— well, that’s a very romantic bouquet,” Ginger points out with a curious glance, poking her head out of the back room.
“Boyfriend or crush?” Bonnie adds on as she hugs her girlfriend from behind.
Toby doesn’t answer. He’s too busy trying to think of a way to get out of this conversation— apparently, the sentiment was obvious to everyone. The downside of working in a flower shop was that the romantic flowers never went unnoticed. They all know the bestsellers, of course, the red roses and tulips and orchids, typically bought by a regretful boyfriend who they all knew was going to be dumped in 2 to 6 business days. But a bouquet like this either means a customer had done a hell of a lot of research, or someone in the shop had picked the flowers themself. So, in a few seconds, Toby’s private, meaningful bouquet is about to become everyone’s business.
“I don't know,” he mutters. He can’t even think of a feasible lie— he’s too busy trying to calm his heartbeat that’s pounding in his chest, faster than the most enthusiastic drummer in a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
“Uh, I think it’s a crush,” Ginger notes. “Gladiolus and daffodils? Seriously—“ She shakes her head, the amused reaction of someone in a happy, stable relationship who had forgotten what it was like to be one of the lonely hearts. “—It screams unrequited love.”
Toby’s head snaps up at that. “Love?” he sputters. “That’s just- I don't know. I think it’s just a crush.”
He’s showing all his cards, now, and one of the girls is bound to figure out who put together the bouquet in a minute or two. But he doesn’t care. He turns around, about to walk to the cashier and hoping no one stops in.
“So,” Donna steps into his path with a knowing glance, the glance of someone who’s very obviously been listening this whole time. “You made the bouquet, right?”
“Donna—“
“Oh!” She lets out an excited squeal and throws her arms around him, before realizing exactly what she was doing.
“Donna,” he sighs.
“Right. Sorry. But is this-“ she lowers her voice. “This is you wooing, right?”
Toby lets out an exasperated groan. But she’s right, of course. This is, in some twisted way, his idea of wooing. Donna spends the rest of her shift giving him tips on what to say to CJ while simultaneously filling orders in the storeroom, a combination that leads to more than a few mistakes on her part.
But eventually, she leaves, and he’s left with a too-long lunch break to contemplate how to give CJ the gift. They’re just flowers, he reminds himself. Don’t make it weird, Ziegler. But his gift is more than just flowers, it’s a reminder that there’s someone rooting for her. A reminder that he’s proud of all she’s done in this past six months. Well, that’s what he hopes it’ll be.
Toby hears the bell ring and looks up— for once, he’s not expecting to be CJ. But it is. She stands outside and meets his eye with a careful glance, more anxious than usual. This is the moment he’s been waiting for, he thinks as she comes in.
“I got you coffee,” she says without a greeting.
He can’t stop staring at her. God, she’s beautiful. Tattoos dance down her back like battle scars, tangible reminders of her strength every time she walks into a room.
“Thanks, CJ.” Donna swoops in with an easy smile and gives Toby a nudge, silently telling him to stop staring like a pervert and to say something. Or maybe her look said none of that, and he was just projecting.
“You’re- uh, thanks for the coffee,” he says abruptly, turning back to the task at hand.
“It wasn’t for you.” She smirks as she says it, eyes dragging over his body in a way that made Toby feel like a live wire. He can feel her eyes sparking with electricity as she watched him stock the new shipment of flowers.
God, she makes him act like such an idiot.
Toby can't imagine what CJ must think of him, the owner of the shop downstairs who has a huge crush on her and couldn’t form more than a few sentences when she was in his line of sight. She’s just so strong, so pretty— not that beauty is all that mattered to him, but it’s practically impossible not to notice her deep brown eyes and hair that flowed down her back like a cascading waterfall. And her grace, the way she commands all the attention when she walks into the room, how she is sharp but never cold, never mean. And her genius amazes him— he isn’t one to be overly complimentary of another person, but she’s taken a part of the building that hadn’t had customers in years, and turned it into a lively, successful tattoo parlor. He knows they’ve only talked a few times in the months since she had started her shop, but her very presence brightens up his store.
She is like a sunflower, light following wherever she goes.
And maybe she has no idea who he is, beyond someone she talked to occasionally who brought her flowers for her shop. But for some reason, he still finds himself desperately wanting to know more about this woman with a million tattoos adorning her arms, this woman who knew his father and loves Donna as much as he does and has turned a lifeless corner into a booming business. He wants her, and it feels inevitable, a predestined fate that was sealed the moment he first saw her.
CJ leans her arms on the counter and lets her head fall. He isn’t sure what to do. So he doesn’t ask questions, doesn’t press, just pulls out a chair and motions for her to come sit in it. That lifts the awkwardness out of the room, thankfully, as she collapses into the chair next to where he’s working. They sit there for a while, just like that. And then he feels her breath on his shoulder and suddenly can’t think of anything but how good she smells, and how easy it would be to turn around and pull her closer. She’s like a magnet, this woman. It drives him crazy.
“Toby?” Her voice is soft, delicate, nothing like the steely way she usually speaks.
“Yeah,” he swallows, preparing to answer a question about why he acts so weird whenever she’s there.
“What’s the bouquet for?”
He turns around and follows her eyes to the bright bouquet of flowers still on the counter— the bouquet he made for her less than 20 minutes ago.
“You,” he manages to say. Her eyes widen, a delighted smile growing on her face. “I mean, it’s your sixth month here. I figured you deserved a gift for the shop’s anniversary. I know it’s not much, but—
“No.” She stops him, hands over her heart like he’s touched her deep inside, in a place behind her walls and behind her cool facade, the place where her strength lives. It pulls on his heartstrings, the thought of her choosing to trust him with that. It lights him up inside— the thought that he made her happy, even for a minute, hits him in a place he didn’t know was able to feel so deeply.
“I- really? I mean, thank you, it’s beautiful.”
“So are you.” He regrets the words as soon as they leave his mouth. Who said stuff like that? He isn’t some cheap hack trying to pick her up at a bar, he’s her friend.
CJ’s eyes are wide as she tries to pick out the meaning of his words. He worries he stepped over the line, ventured into the unknown territory they have yet to allow inside their newly-forged friendship.
“Well, you certainly are a gentleman,” she laughs a little bit. It didn’t feel like a joke. The air between them is taut, filled with more tension than a magnetic field. CJ leans in, just a little bit. And suddenly Toby wants nothing more than to lean into her, to pull her close and show her how much he had meant his words. But instead, he pulls away. She was like the sun, and he knows that if he leans in, they will collide. They will burn bright and flame out in an instant. She matters too much to him for it to be a fling, and right now, that was all they would have. Toby grabs the bouquet and holds it in between them.
“Here,” he breathes, hoping she’ll stay for a while longer but also knowing that if she does, his resolve will crumble in a second. “Congratulations.”
CJ gives him a cautious, slightly confused, smile— “Thanks.”
She takes it from his hands, fingers brushing as he lets go. She blushes, the pink on her cheeks complimenting her black camisole. He watches her go, the bell ringing as the door slams shut. He hears it again a few minutes later, a few customers filing in to fill the stretch of emptiness that happens in the hours when he’s the only one in the shop.
He doesn’t love CJ. He barely even knows enough to like her, but that is something that happened without him even noticing. Like a wave crashing against the shore, he didn’t realize until he was drowning in it. CJ Cregg is an enigma, a woman who can make anything happen and does, a woman who makes him feel like he’s breathing in electricity.
Life’s a funny thing, Toby thinks. No one ever sees the big things coming, until suddenly your estranged father is dead and you’re the sole owner of his flower shop.
It’s startling, how much the last year has changed him. The thing he always was ashamed of growing up, something he never quite understood as a kid, has somehow become his solace. It’s grasped onto his heart, this lively little corner of DC, and refuses to let go. He even finds he’s minding the shrill bell above the door less as the months go by, and the silence more than more. A customer walks in, and Toby rises to help him. He pushes the thoughts to the back of his mind— his unnecessarily morose self-reflection can wait. He has a job to do.

001 you know me I gotta ask for Clive/Flora :3
I was hoping you would... :D Thank you for indulging me, and I’m sorry for this essay ^^
when I started shipping it if I did:
Long story… I was playing through all of the PL games this spring for the first time in years, and found myself really liking Flora, far more than I’d ever liked her when playing the games as a kid. Then, when I got to UF, I found myself getting really attached to Clive as well. Not only did I love both characters, but I really liked their interactions; I’d been getting upset about how much Flora was left behind, and lo and behold, “Future Luke” tells Luke that Flora should be included on the adventure, and that she’s allowed to be excited, etc.
Clive kept on sticking up for Flora, and they seemed to get along really well (not to mention all of the cute little moments they had together, like on the stairs to the Thames Arms), and I was getting really invested in their relationship. Then Clive went completely off the rails, and even though I knew this was coming, I honestly felt as upset and confused as Flora did. I wanted to hear his apology, and I wanted to see more out of a relationship that I felt had so much promise.
my thoughts:
I absolutely love Clora; I haven’t been this excited about a ship in a long time. I adore both characters, and the similarities in their backgrounds are just perfect for writing about; they have so much to bond over. They have a really cute and wholesome dynamic in UF, before they really knew each other, and I love the idea of that continuing and developing into something deeper as they slowly get to know the real versions of each other.
At first, Flora’s angry and confused, and Clive is lost in self-hate and regret; he’s just messed up so much already, and there’s no way that he can ever apologize correctly. But Flora just refuses to give up on getting the closure she needs, and just keeps on coming back until she gets it. They’ve got the perfect balance of in-game hints where the pairing isn’t pulled out of nowhere, and also open-endedness where there’s lots to explore as a writer.
I think they’d definitely need a lot of time before ever starting a romantic relationship. While there were little hints at the ship in the game (I think), romance was the farthest thing from Clive’s mind at the time (I don’t think he’d ever been interested in anything of the kind before), and it was Flora’s first proper adventure. Their falling-out in the game really solidifies the fact that they need a lot of time to process things and get to know each other all over again. I’d want them to become good solid friends first before going anywhere near romance. After that, though... ugh, the mutual pining would be so good, ahhh...!
What makes me happy about them:
So much. I really love how on the surface, Flora is the “cute” one and Clive is the “prickly” one, but really, they aren’t that different. Flora has a lot of issues and a lot of pain in her past like Clive, and Clive also gets deeply attached to other people (especially his family) like Flora does. I think that they have so much potential to help each other open up and deal with the difficulties from their pasts, and support each other when the other is going through a rough time. And honestly, they’re just really adorable together. They’ve got such a nice mix of sweetness and angst, and I just love thinking and writing about them.
(Also they’re holding hands in one of the end credits scenes...! I so rarely ship anything with any canon evidence, so that, and all of Clive’s little “Don’t worry, Flora” comments in the game just make me really happy).
What makes me sad about them:
Hhh…. I just think that Clive messed things up SO bad. He messed up from the beginning. It’s not even just the kidnapping part; that could probably be (generously) explained by Clive suddenly deciding that he didn’t want Flora to get stomped by the Mobile Fortress (although he should have told her/just not used the Mobile Fortress, but okay). It’s that he was pretending to be “Future Luke” all along, and, due to Flora’s past of having people she cares about replaced by lookalikes (Dahlia replacing her mom, herself being replaced by Don Paolo (and Luke gleefully showing her the Flora mask on the train ride home!), and less traumatically, Don Paolo replacing the professor), I think that “Big Luke” suddenly turning into “Clive” would be really upsetting for her.
Despite all of that, though, all Flora asked for was an apology--and then the two of them never get to talk again. I don’t know… I’m just sad that they seemed to get along so well before, and if Clive had been able to say sorry right then, maybe they could have parted on better terms than they did, just like Clive and the professor got to. Instead, we don’t get any apology or closure. Flora deserved an apology.
things done in fanfic that annoys me:
Ugh, SO many things. There’s about 100 stories with both characters tagged on ff.net, and I can only really recommend about ten of them. At best, it’s a generic “bad boy/good girl” dynamic, or Clive is suddenly super nice and Flora is incredibly ditzy, and at worst, Clive’s abusive. (please don’t read the earliest ff.net stories, no matter how desperate you get.)
Admittedly, people are very critical of Clora at the best of times, so I feel like there’s a higher standard for it than there are for other pairings. I just feel like Flora often gets written as the “everygirl,” sort of as a reader-insert that gets to date Clive. Or, Clive is a total woobie who gets immediately forgiven by Flora with no resistance at all. Honestly though, as long as it’s obvious that someone is trying their best to keep them in-character and on equal footing, I would be happy to read anyone’s take on them. They are a difficult pair to write, I think, so I don’t expect anyone to get it perfect (since there really is no perfect way to write them).
things I look for in fanfic:
Ideally? Just like 10 Years. The slow burn, the hard work to earn forgiveness, the friendship, the attention to their similarities, the acknowledgement of both of their traumas… boy, I will never stop recommending that story. I’m so glad it exists; it’s given me so many ideas and it addresses all of the things that make me feel bad about the pairing.
Outside of that fic… I just want acknowledgement of what Clive did wrong, him working to fix it, and them starting to understand each other and grow fond of each other. (Also… lots of angst and hurt/comfort, haha, but that’s me with every type of fanfic). Conversely, I’d like to just see them doing cute things together or going on an adventure without talking about the past constantly as well; once the apology is over, they don’t have to constantly return back to the past. I feel like Clora is a super good candidate for slow burn as well; I loved it in 10 Years and I’d love to see another take on it.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
Honestly no one… when I really like a ship, I can’t multiship without getting sad, haha… :’)
My happily ever after for them:
I’ve got several different AUs for them, but for one of them, I’d like to see them get married and move to St. Mystere. They can work together and take over Bruno’s job of repairing the robot residents and take care of the village. They’d visit and be visited by the professor and the rest of the family frequently, but I think that they’d both be happier away from London. I think Clive interacting with the Reinholds would be really funny too, haha… I do have a longer story I still want to write too, though, so my ideas for a happy ending for them may change a lot as I write.
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
It’s a 60-40 split, with Flora being the little spoon slightly more.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
I think they try to learn how to be good cooks together. Flora was never good, obviously, but I think that Clive also only knows how to cook the basics (lazy rich kid). Once Clive starts living with the professor, though, he realizes that it’s pretty much going to be up to him to feed this family, because the professor forgets to cook, Flora’s bad at it, and Alfendi’s a baby. He starts to work at getting better, and Flora decides to practice more too, and they wind up competing with each other. They also use each other as test subjects for the food they want to give to the professor (it’s okay if they give each other food poisoning, but the professor? Perish the thought!) By the time Alfendi’s a little kid, they’re both half-decent, but still make fun of each other’s cooking, and Alfendi will pick a side with whoever he’s feeling more charitable towards at the time.
They also have unscheduled midnight tea time at least once a week. Clive doesn’t sleep a lot, and Flora wakes up during the night quite often, so she often comes downstairs to find him pacing around, and makes a pot of tea. Sometimes she’ll go up again after having a cup, and sometimes they fall asleep on the couch together.

Ladies and Gentlemen (Batdad!Reader Headcanons)
Requested by @yesthetrashbin for Batdad and the Batfam meeting the genderbent parallel universe versions of themselves.
Tumblr media
The Alternate Batfam Judges You
They came to you one day.
It’s safe to say you weren’t expecting it.
But somehow, some way, seven intimidating and beautiful women show up in Wayne Manor.
It’s you and the woman who appears to be the diplomat of the group that figures out who each of you are.
There was a bit of a fight, and each fighting style corresponds, plus the older woman shoved the nice lady back as if to defend her
Just as Alfred did for you.
It’s eerie how similar you all appear, as if you were seven sets of twins.
In short order, you are introduced to Briana Wayne and her wife, the Batmom; Alma Pennyworth, Rachel Grayson, Ajay Todd, Tamara Drake, and Dahlia Wayne.
Bruce & Briana
She’s more stubborn than Bruce.
Right off the bat (no pun intended) she shows how inflexible she is - it’s her way or no way at all. She’s had to be twice as tough to get half the respect, so she really doesn’t brook any disobedience.
She’s had it harder than Bruce dealing with people in both the business world and the criminal world - people tend not to take her as seriously as they would Bruce because of her gender.
She has a bit of a compulsion to prove how much she doesn’t need anyone - Briana fears Batmom will be hurt in both of her lives, either by criminals who want to hurt the Bat, or by misogynists and homophobes who don’t like seeing two women in control of Gotham’s biggest business.
Briana is making an effort - she and Batmom are equal partners at Wayne Enterprises, and Batmom is part of her mission control
In her universe, she doesn’t put on any ditzy millionaire act - she works incredibly hard at Wayne Enterprises to show that she doesn’t need any help.
Briana also doesn’t have the same kind of playboy thing to keep up - the public would judge a woman differently than a man for that.
It strikes you how much angrier Briana is compared to Bruce - about everything.
Ajay and Briana get along much better than Jason and Bruce.
On a scale of none to zero, her style looks completely effortless.
The Bat is merciless to criminals, sending them to jail, not Arkham. After Ajay’s death, the Joker was beaten to death in prison. This technically didn’t break the One Rule.
Briana’s crime-fighting is mostly for the League, now.
Bruce doesn’t like his alternate self very much. All he can see are his own faults reflected, and he doesn’t like that picture.
On one level, Briana thinks that you are way too involved in Bruce’s vigilante life, but on another, Briana is jealous of how open Bruce gets to be with you. She has trouble opening up, even with Batmom
Bruce and Briana don’t interact much before the alternate Batfam is sent home.
Alfred & Alma
Just as Alfred is, Alma is formal and can be sarcastic at times
She was a combat nurse in the war, and later she may or not have been a secret operative for the Crown.
Alma has more control over Briana than Alfred does over Bruce - Briana will disregard all others in favor of Alma’s advice
Thankfully, like Alfred, Alma is never wrong.
Alma and Alfred have a cook-off, which ends up being a tie. All the boys vote for Alfred, the girls for Alma, and Alfred and Alma vote for each other.
Following the pattern, it seems Alma is more aggressive than Alfred. When Batmom was kidnapped, Alma’s old friends practically took over Gotham for the few days it took to find her, then killed the culprit.
Alfred and Alma sip tea and reminisce about the family.
They trade recipes with each other before parting.
Dick & Rachel
So, at least one pair gets along.
Dick and Rachel are both upbeat and cheery
Rachel shows Dick the videos she’s made with Dahlia of them both acting out skits on YouTube
Dick immediately wants to try with Damian
Briana dotes on Rachel, and in turn, Rachel sees Briana as a hero figure.
Rachel’s fighting style takes advantage of her flexibility - being smaller than Dick, she can pull off the signature Grayson quadruple flip a bit more easily.
She utilizes more parkour in her fighting style and spends most of the time in this world teaching and trading moves with Dick.
Rachel seems pretty lonely, and tells you secretly that she wishes her sisters could have a relationship more like you and your sons.
Jason & Ajay
Well, it might seem like Briana dotes on Rachel, but she has a major soft spot for Ajay.
She reminds Briana of herself
Ajay dyed her hair red when she became the Red Hood, mostly to get away from the white streak she recieved from the Lazarus Pit
Ajay never left the Batfam - since she was avenged, she went right back into the fold upon her return.
As such, Ajay and Briana are very close - it’s clear that she is the favored successor for the cowl.
Briana frequently builds projectile weapons for Ajay - most of these are just short of lethal.
Jason respects Ajay and her journey, but believes that you and Bruce made him a genuinely better person by not letting him take revenge
They don’t talk much. Especially after Ajay mentions that she prefers Shelley to Austen.
Tim & Tamara
She’s still the genius of the group.
Tamara seems the most competent, even among the Batgirls.
She has more self-discipline than Tim, and actually has sworn off caffeine, saying that real heroes know when to sleep
Tim cannot stand her for this.
He builds extra firewalls because he knows Tamara will try to hack into the Batcomputer.
But since he fell asleep twice while doing it, the well-rested Tamara slipped through.
Tim takes this as a personal insult and tries to give up coffee - he doesn’t even last a day.
Tamara makes a bit more of an effort to be friendly, and by the end of the time they are very nearly best friends.
Damian & Dahlia
For some reason, Dahlia gets along much better with Batmom than Briana - perhaps because Dahlia reminds the Bat of the League of Shadows.
Anyway, Dahlia rarely leaves Batmom’s side, and when she does, she’s a bit of a terror. Damian wonders when she leaves if he was like that.
You remind him that he did try to kill you several times.
Dahlia excels in the sword, even more than Damian. However, Damian has learned much more in the arts of ninjutsu, and eventually beats Dahlia in a practice sword duel.
They get along well, and Batmom says that Damian has been a good influence on her.
Batdad & Batmom
You two are the most similar.
In some ways, she has the harder job in getting her daughters some normalcy in their lives.
She’s strong enough to handle Briana’s over-protectiveness, and to corral both Ajay and Dahlia
Batmom assures you that even though her daughters might not show it, they are impressed by you and your familial bond
Because it might be different than theirs, but they recognize that even though you might technically be the same people, every family is different.
There is a sense of mutual respect when they leave - even if Bruce and Briana have said barely full sentences to each other.
Briana is more motivated to let Batmom in after seeing you and Bruce.
Rachel and Batmom get the others to make more effort to interact with each other and Briana. Dick tries to get Damian on his YouTube channel.
Jason makes an effort to try and get closer to Bruce. Briana makes an effort to get closer to Tamara, Dahlia, and Rachel
Tim has his phone randomly select a day every month where he challenges himself not to have caffeine. Without fail, he ignores it. Tamara, meanwhile, tries coffee again, and stays awake for three days straight.
Dahlia tries to be a kinder and more polite person. Damian resolves to train harder in the sword.

The REAL Black Dahlia That Everyone Forgets About
So I’ve started getting into researching the Black Dahlia murder, AKA the murder of Elizabeth Short. I’ve been looking at documentaries, blogs, books, movies, and TV shows and I’ve noticed a little bit of a pattern that frankly I’ve gotten really tired of and just plain old peeved towards. What I’m talking about is the portrayal of Elizabeth Short. In the movies and shows and some of the research I’ve done, Elizabeth is talked about and made out to look she’s shady, ditzy, attention-seeking, a femme fatale, vain, a pathological liar, mentally unstable, a bum, a tease, bitchy, sexualized & promiscuous, and even a straight up prostitute or a lesbian or bisexual (which is not a bad thing but they theorized this for ridiculous reasons which makes it not okay). All of which is totally not true and either fictionalized, exaggerated, dirty gossip, or just straight up slander. Some have even theorized flat out that Elizabeth’s murder was a result of her ‘behavior’. All in all, she is made out to look like she was asking for it and her murder was her fault. Good old fashion victim blaming.
From the research I’ve done, Elizabeth Short was far, far away from what the media and legend has portrayed her as. She might’ve been a little naive and she made mistakes, but that definitely doesn’t make her a bad person. She was a young woman who really had potential, who had a deeper personality, she was a gentle, friendly, sweet, fun-loving person who carried a lot of sadness and emotional scars, who had dreams and ambitions, who also wanted to be loved and find a man who would love her and be a good husband to her and make her a happy wife with a happy family, who was a truly beautiful girl, who did like men and being around them but in a way similar to a school girl wanting to find love with someone she really liked rather than a sex-crazed temptress sleeping around to get to the top....basically Elizabeth Short was a real human being who had never wished or inflicted any harm on anyone and was a victim to her time, to the society that revictimized her again by sensationalizing her as something she wasn’t and the tragedy that happened to her as a sexy noir tale, and to the psycho bastard that tortured, violated, and mutilated her for his own twisted reasons.
Please, please, please, PLEASE remember this.
