Remembering "Angel Hare"

This is Angel Hare. An indie series made by the Mangan Sisters/The East Patch. Sometime around 2022.

It's one of my favorite Analog Horror Series. But sadly not a well known one. It's also relatively new as it's first episode is only a year old.

The next few excerpts I have taken from TV Tropes becouse I couldn't do them justice. I'm not a thief. Just incompetent.

"The story follows a young man named Jonah, who one day walks into a thrift store and discovers an official VHS copy of an old childhood show he used to love: Angel Hare, a 6 episode Christian based cartoon about the adventures of Francis the Badger and his friend Angel Gabby, the titular angelic hare.

Overcome by nostalgia and an old sense of comfort, he buys the tape, despite already having all the episodes of the original airing of the show recorded back home, anddecides to watch it, but he immediately notices that something is … off.

The show as presented on the tape is completely different from the one he remembers. Fortunately, he does have his own recording of the show to compare it to, so he starts uploading comparison videos of the two versions of the show onto Youtube.

From there he finds himself going down the rabbit hole of childhood memories as he slowly starts to realize exactly how strange his old recording actually is, and that Angel Gabby is definitely way more than she seems.

He may have forgotten Angel Hare, but Angel Hare sure hasn't forgotten him."

I watched the entire show at the beginning of the year. I loved it. But it looked like it was over...

UNTIL IT WASN'T!

They posted new Episodes! And made a new plot hook! I was even mentioned! Me! Some nobody from nowhere!

This is how I see Cassian Andor’s character development

kendall puppeteering the digital corpse of his father to lie in support of his nightmare techno dystopia pitch, and then also to tell roman he has a micro dick and always gets it wrong in a scene where we all thought roman was going to jerk off about it. and somehow none of this was quite as crazy as tomshiv biting each other like evil middle school girlbesties

i didnt think this all the way through and i'm still on episode 7 but would the sandman be slightly better-paced if it had 25 min, double the amount episodes?

i watched the first two episodes in two parts in between studying (bc i didnt wanna give 50 min breaks), and if i remember correctly they have surprisingly well defined middle points. the episode with death and hobb is also clearly two comic issues duct-taped together. i dunno, just a thought

i wish i wish I WISH they had given utopia a third season tho oh my god. i mean i feel like the cliffhanger they left it on is pretty good for an ending bc like. it shows that the cycle is ever-perpetuating and so long as this problem still stands then there will be people attempting to find a “solution”. also it has to do with the fascination w utopia and its story like everyone who’s sorta been brought behind the veil will never be the same. hence why even if everything went back to normal like. it wouldn’t. dugdale could move half a continent away but he’d never be able to go back to being a normal civil servant after literally standing against a violent and oppressive secret organization for like a year or so. if becky and ian went back to being normal and fine after she came to they’d still be living with the aftershocks of her suicide and the fact that she did it by herself. not to mention ian would always have to be hidden, unless he managed to get a secret identity and moved away. not to mention jessica and pietre like. how do those two integrate into society again. pietre was mostly successful but after having to abandon his family there’s no way he’d feel okay going back. PLUS PHILLIP CARVEL IS ALIVE AND LIKE HOW DO THE THREE OF THEM RECONCILE THAT, IF AT ALL. DOES HE JUST RETURN TO A HOLE? DO THEY PUT HIM IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL AGAIN? OR A RETIREMENT HOME? what i liked abt the last scene of season 2 is you see him walking to an exit door that has a bright white light pouring in, almost representing him moving on. so my assumption is, now with the weight of his mistakes finally off his back, he would die soon after. but like. none of these people would live normal lives. none of them could reincorporate back into society, knowing the growing food crisis and resource shortages were still going on. and who knows what that would do to their psyche? if wilson didn’t step in, i wouldn’t be surprised if someone like dugdale took his place! someone who saw the stats and knew the risks and would have the blind hope that they could do it better. like milner is dead but mr. rabbit will exist so long as there are people alive who know his story. the only way out is in death, which is why when pietre wakes up it is almost like a rebirth--cutting immediately to wilson with the finished carving on his stomach. it’s like. pietre cant die until there isn’t a single person in the network to bring him back in. anyways stan wilson wilson

adventure time lore is insane. it starts off just being a goofy kids show that has magic for no reason, but then you learn that all magic users are manic and/or depressed (what betty calls sadness and madness). because it turns out magic is actually a cosmic force beyond mortal comprehension, that itself was learned from cosmic entities that predated the existence of time itself inside a sea of monsters. and "magic" really is just understanding more about the nature of the universe than most people. that, in a way, reality isnt "real" and understanding that allows you to mold it. and thats magic. but that drives you to insanity and/or apathy. and there are beings who hold significant cosmic importance who are more prone to magic. and the reason magic became prevalent on earth is because of a nuclear war a thousand years ago, which released the entity that represents the destruction of all life onto the world. and after a nuclear apocalypse this gave way to a new earth, where magic could thrive. but a lot of the beings we see arent even magical, theyre just mutants from what happened 1000 years ago. and humanity as we know it has been all but wiped out. but everything stays the same because cycles of war and violence continue. and it doesnt matter if its nukes or magic. everything stays the same, but still changes.
