i was reading through Conspiracy Bros AU and like... Izuku gets OFA and IMMEDIATELY tells Shoto+Dabi about it, so now, as the title of the AU implies, we've got these three feral gremlin children with the Conspiracy mindset and what is at some level the MOST OP QUIRK EVER. of course, all three immediately go into Hunt Mode and scour EVERYWHERE for any and all info on the past holders (because even if AM doesnt directly tell Izuku about them there's GOTTA be others) (1/?)
and so the moment Izuku gets his grubby lil gremlin hands on that hair he's downing it and pulling out The Notebook and reviewing everything he has about OFA's past users. meanwhile, the past users are getting settled into Izuku's body and then, THEN they realize what Izuku is holding and they have Mild Panic until someone (definitely Fourth because clearly the past users can still use their quirks inside OFA and Danger Sense would be going haywire if Izuku was Evil News) (2/?)
and Fourth goes 'wait... guys wait...' and slowly everyone comes to realize that NOT ONLY are they in a Feral Gremlin Child but they are in a Feral Gremlin Child who is going to do his damndest to cause AS MUCH CHAOS AS INHUMANLY POSSIBLE. and. being the kind, benevolent, TWO HUNDRED YEARS OF BOREDOM people they are, they give Izuku Float very quickly, especially once they realize the Bird Family shenanigans. I give to you my analysis of the Oscar/Lando dynamic and why they are such an amazing duo:
First I give to you the fact that Oscar is the oldest of four, he’s got three younger sisters as is evidenced by this photo:
As a fellow big siblings of lots of little siblings I can personally attest to the fact that I have always wanted an older brother or sister, and I imagine as the oldest Oscar probably did too. There’s just like this innate desire to have someone who is to you what you are to your little siblings. Someone who’s been through all the life milestones first and who you can look up to and emulate.
Then we factor in that Lando is the third of four, he’s got an older brother(Oliver) and two younger sisters(Cisca & Flo):
So he’s never been a big brother to a little brother! Which is just such a special dynamic as I have witnessed between my two little brothers who are barely 2 years apart, they are literally partners in crime and they do everything together it’s amazing and beautiful and oh so sweet.
So when Oscar met Lando he found himself a big brother, and Lando found himself a little brother. They’re like each others little missing puzzle pieces and when they found eachother they just clicked ✨✨.
He’s just a proud big bro ok you guys 😭😭😭
This totally like pieced together in my head after watching how Oscar followed Lando around after the race like a little sibling might their big siblings at a large family function. Randomly thinking about “tolerate it” (narrator voice: it was not random) and how under the cloak of fiction it is ostensibly inspired by works like “Rebecca” (which Taylor said she read during the 2020 lockdowns I believe?), with the line of “you’re so much older and wiser” indicating that the speaker is significantly younger and inexperienced compared to the person she’s speaking to and a pretty direct reference to the plot of the book.
But I saw something somewhere once that stuck with me about how it might not be referring to relative age between the characters but chronological age as in the passage of time in a relationship. And that made me think about how in a contemporary context, it might not necessarily be referencing an actual age gap between the two characters, but rather a sarcastic or cynical response to the man’s claims that he has matured (“you’re so much older and wiser [than you were before/than you were when we met/etc.]”), which then made me think about that line in relation to the woman. And that it could be taken like, “you act like you’ve matured so much in our time together and like you know everything, while I’m supposedly still stuck as the girl I was when we first met.”
Which then made me think of the “right where you left me” of it all and did you ever hear about the girl who got frozen time went on for everyone else she won’t know it and the bit in Miss Americana where she talks about how celebrities get frozen at the age at which they got famous, and how she’s had to play catch up in a lot of ways not just in her emotional growth but kind of in general. (Which also made me wonder if she’s ever been called out for immaturity/lack of curiosity/lack of education about things in her life…)
Which then made me think about the rest of the song, and @taylortruther’s posts yesterday about “seven” and “Daylight” and the way Taylor idealizes her youth yet contrasts it with an almost sinister reality in its wake, and the line, “I sit by the door like I’m just a kid,” because the discussion raised that her relationship let her recapture some of the childlike joy and wonder she’d lost. So this line is a double-edged sword: the speaker sits by the door with childlike hope that the person will come home and cherish her, but on the darker side, feels like the child dealing with the monsters she doesn’t have names for yet and the feelings of isolation she felt as she aged.
I’m not saying the song is necessarily autobiographical; like most of the songs on folkmore, it’s clearly a fictionalized story based on media she’d consumed and created, but we know a lot of the fictional songs were infused with her own feelings and experiences and… This idea swirling in my head picked up steam and now I kind of can’t stop thinking about it. Sorry but I’m a little obsessed now.
Like maybe it might start to shed light on why she identified so strongly with the novel in the first place…

This is pure speculation and I could be totally wrong, but I kind of wonder if Qian never actually asked Yuan to go abroad. It starts in episode 6 when Qian and San Pang are talking about what Qian should do instead of just staying at the office 24/7 and I think San Pang could be responsible for this whole ordeal.
“Or maybe get Yuan to move out” who proposes that? Not Qian! San Pang does. And we do NOT see Qian’s response. We don’t know what Qian’s genuine answer is at all! It just cuts to San Pang coming to Yuan’s home. If anything the fact that San Pang is coming home to get Qian’s stuff for a business trip makes me think Qian made the decision to leave instead of kicking Yuan out.
San Pang is a meddler. He’s getting himself involved into their relationship for better or for worse. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s the one who plotted this. Qian HAD been setting aside money for Yuan to study abroad before Yuan ever confessed, that much is true. It could be that he told San Pang about the money and instructed him to tell Yuan to leave but originally studying abroad was never related to Yuan’s feelings for Qian.
“Does he hate me that much that he can’t even tell me this himself?” That’s the line that really gave me this feeling of “what if he never told him to leave at all.” And San Pang doesn’t have to say much, just that it’s what Qian wants, and Yuan agrees because of course he’ll do what his Ge asks of him. “He wants me to leave, the sooner the better, right?” and off he goes.
But Qian cries!! He leaves that bracelet!!! Couldn’t Qian be sad thinking Yuan has decided to leave??? Because if Qian didn’t tell him to go, he would have to assume (or San Pang would tell him directly) that Yuan left on his own volition. I mean, Qian and Yuan are literally not on speaking terms at this point. A misunderstanding could be so easy.
THEN, in the trailer we get bits that we don’t have full context for yet like this dialogue exchange between Yuan and San Pang:
“San Pang, thank you.” “Me?” “I thought a lot while I was abroad. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have had the chance to go to the US and achieved this. I’m very grateful for you.” IF IT WEREN’T FOR WHOOOOO????? SAN PANG AGAIN! He doesn’t thank Qian at all!!! So maybe somewhere along the line of studying abroad/returning home he found out it was really San Pang who came up with this plan all along (I also feel like San Pang’s expression looks a little guilty…). Hell, maybe he even came back because he learns Qian never asked him to leave.
“Why did you suddenly come back?” so it was sudden… it HAS been 4 years which is a full college term for most Americans and I’d assume he’d come back after finishing his studies and yet Qian notes it’s sudden (although counter argument, Yuan could’ve just come back without warning anyone ig).
“Didn’t you ask me to come back when I miss home?” Yuan could be lying a little here. Of course he would miss home. He would miss Qian and Lili the whole time he was there because he left due to Qian’s supposed wishes. But he also could be hiding the fact that he learned San Pang made him think Qian wanted him gone. And then we get the scene at the dinner table I mentioned before where Yuan thanks San Pang, thus revealing this fact to Qian. It would be a beautifully petty moment if that was the case. This latter part could be too much of a stretch, but for now I’m a little suspicious of San Pang’s involvement in the decision to study abroad. I guess we’ll have to find out in the coming episodes…
