A/N: an F1 imagine 🏎️ !!! Yes, yes, I’m into F1 finally, so I of course had to write something and who else would it be than THE Charles Leclerc. Ngl, this isn’t my best work but I just had to get this idea out of my system 😵‍💫. Hope you guys enjoy it !!

Time is a funny thing. Humorous, at times. It goes fast or slow as it pleases. Chooses its pace to get on your weakest nerve.

For instance, the past three months flew by. Meeting him, texting for the first time, your first date, your first kiss, attending his first race, getting to know his friends.

It felt as fast as blinking an eye. Or as fast as you were falling for him.

"A Ferrari car is off the track!" The commentator's voice boomed through the TV speakers. You jumped to your feet from the leather couch you were sat on.

"Oh no" the commentator said soon after. Soon after Charles' car crashed into the concrete wall alongside the track.

Your heart fell, your breath quickening at a dangerous rate. You shut your eyes, reminding yourself of what Charles always said to you.

"Crashes happen. All the time. These cars, though, they're meant to protect us. So, crashes aren’t as dangerous as they seem in F1"

"He's okay" you whispered to yourself. However, when you opened your eyes, everyone's face didn't confirm that, though.

"Right?" You asked, looking around the Ferrari unit. Everyone was frozen, eyes glued on the screen that showed smoke coming out of the crashed Ferrari car.

Charles' car.

Your legs moved before you even decided. You ran so fast. Faster than any car still racing out there even though the world seemed to crumble and break into pieces.

You gasped for air, the wind making it colder than usual. You reached a half empty Ferrari station. All those screens deserted. You barely held yourself up. You wondered how bad was it that half the team had to go to the scene.

"Crashes are normal in Formula One. Almost inevitable"

Not when it's the guy that you were realizing meant much more to you than you thought. The thought terrified you. So much terrified you all of a sudden.

"How do I get there?" You didn't realize how panicked you were until you heard yourself speak. The man stared at you in confusion.

"How do I get to the crash?" You urged. You couldn't believe you were saying that.

"Ma'am, you can't just go-��

"No, no! I have to!" You could feel your eyes well with tears.

"It's Charles Leclerc! Hurry!" A group of paramedics ran to their veichle. You ran after them.

"Ma'am this is not allowed-"

"Please!" You begged them.

"I'm sorry, this is for authorized-"

"Y/n!" You turned around, desperate to believe what you were hearing.

"Carlos! Carlos, please tell me he's okay" you ran to the only person that you felt would care enough to tend to your worries.

"They're taking him to the hospital" he sighed, bowing his head, his fingertips barely holding his helmet.

"W-why?" You stuttered. He finally looked at you.

"Let's just go"

You silently followed Carlos to his car after he quickly changed out of his suit. The drive to the hospital drove you insane. So many questions. Wondering about so much, too much at once.

As soon as Carlos parked outside the emergencies, you ran out of the car and through the glass doors, not caring about all the chaos going just outside of them.

"How serious is it?!"

"Do you think Leclerc will be able to go back to racing?!"

"Will he be there for the next race?!"

It was a lot. Too much, even. You wanted to scream them away. Tell them that this wasn't the time to ask all those questions with bright cameras and microphones everywhere. To respect the other patients' and their families' privacy. But you care more about Charles right now. So you kept running until your hands hit the edge of the counter.

"Charles Leclerc just came in" you breathed. The nurse widened her eyes at your state and just pointed to where he was.

You got to his bed in no time, him just lying there, unconscious. You immediately held his hand and the waterworks began. Carlos walked into the curtain closed space and stood in front of the bed, leaning on the edge.

"Hey" he called so quietly. You just kept crying.

"I don't recommend dating a Formula One driver if you'll cry this hard every time he crashes" he said casually. You stopped sobbing and looked up and to your left. You glared. Carlos shrugged.

"Just saying" he said, looking away.

"Carlos!" You whined. He looked at you, but you just went back to looking at Charles.

You noticed some bruises already forming on his hands. You held it tighter. You felt like time was not moving. It just dragged on and on. Carlos stood there. You sat there. Charles laid there. Just like that. For eternity.

"You didn't eat anything. What do you want?" Carlos' voice reminded you of his existence. You slowly turned to look at him, your tears barely dried on your face.

"How can you be so…chill?" You asked. Not in annoyance. Just out of pure curiosity. Carlos frowned at you for a second, before breaking into a fit of laughter. You stared at him blankly, your hand still holding Charles' tightly.

"I'm telling you! This sport is not for the faint of heart!" He waved a warning finger at you and you frowned at him. This time in annoyance.

"We just" he sighed when he stopped laughing, only a smile left behind from it.

"We get used to this. To seeing it. To being victims of it" he said ever so casually that it terrified you. It was terrifying the things passion makes a person do. How far people would go for what they love.

"I'm getting food and you will eat it. Charles would kill me if he woke up to a starving you while I was just hanging here. Deal?" He raised a brow at you. You hesitated, but Carlos kept his gaze. You finally nodded.

"Good. I'll be back in a bit" he said before leaving. You watched him go and something warm filled you. Gratitude.

You were grateful for him staying with you. With Charles. Not all drivers care enough to do that, unfortunately. You didn't notice the smile on your face until a few minutes later. When Charles spoke.

"What's so funny?" He mumbled. Your eyes shot to his and you stood up in an instant.

"Charles?!" You exclaimed, tears filling your eyes for the millionth time today. He just blinked, wincing.

“Who won the race?” He asked, still trying to find his voice.

"Oh my god" you covered your face, walking away from his bed in disbelief.

“Seriously?!” You spun around, crying. You wanted to fight even harder when a smile slowly took form on his tired face.

“Charles do you know how terrified I was?! And all you’re worried about is who won that race?!” You kept scolding. He placed one arm behind his head, still watching you in amusement. You breathed heavily, not bothering to wipe your tears as you crossed your arms over your chest.

You watched him laying there, smiling with his arm under his head, giving him better view of your tear-stained face.

“You know what?” He spoke. You had to walk a step closer so you could hear him clearly.

“I don’t want to know who won the race. I want to know how on earth did I get this lucky” he started.

“Yeah! I’m so glad it just cane down to some bruises. And, and, you’re awake, and you’re talking, and you seem okay!” You rambled, now sitting by his side on the edge of the bed. He chuckled softly at you missing what he meant, raising a hand to wipe your tears, then tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.

“Right when I realized what was happening, there was one thought that kept echoing in my mind” he whispered, suddenly all serious. Your heartbeat quickened, not enjoying the memory of watching him crash and not knowing what he was feeling or if he was going to be okay.

“I just kept thinking ‘fuck. I didn’t get to tell her I love her’” he confessed. You raised your brows slightly, surprised at the sudden confession. You’ve been together for three months now and neither of you had said it, yet.

But there it was. And it felt like the world that crumbled after the race was patched and stitched back to perfect, pristine condition.

You couldn’t help the smile that formed on your lips. Charles smiled as well, his heart monitor exposing how important this moment was to him.

You leaned down and wrapped your arms around his neck carefully, holding him tightly to make up for all the fear of losing him. For all the fear of him not feeling the same way.

“I love you, too, Charles” you whispered.

You held each other for as long as it took for your flushed cheeks and racing hearts to quiet down, giving your new found feelings some sense of privacy.

Once you pulled away, your faces met, less than an inch apart. Charles leaned in. You were grateful there was no heart monitor on you, or that would’ve been the end.

“So, I didn’t know which is your favorite, so I got all flavors-“

Carlos’ voice sent you flying to your feet. Charles sat where he was and pierced his lips shut, staring at nothing in particular.

Carlos’ eyes danced between the two of you and he broke into a grin when he realized.

“I think it finally happened?” Carlos asked, hinting at what you both just confessed to one another. You glanced at Charles just to catch him glancing at you. He cleared his throat and you held back a smile.

“So now it’s serious, serious?” Carlos asked excitedly.

“Serious, serious” you both answered.

Ok, as we said in another post he's definitely a truck driver.

He always has his dog with him no matter where he goes and he most likely has one of those giant bloodhound dogs or a bird dog. Maybe even a stray cat he found in a parking lot, who knows with him?

He probably pulls over on the side of the road to sketch some of the scenery he sees and it most likely causes him to be late to places he needs to be but oh well.

LOVES to put different stickers on his truck and to blow the horn for little kids that wave at him sometimes.

His dog is absolutely spoiled, having a giant bed in the passenger seat and probably over 20+ toys because Arthur can't help himself when he sees new toys or treats.

Summary: Tommy’s sixteen year old daughter secretly falls for the new stable boy. What happens when Tommy discovers the truth and attempts to separate them?

Author’s Note: In this AU Tommy has a daughter (16) from before the war and she is being raised alongside Charlie (8) and Ruby (4). Timeline might vary a bit from canon. The idea of Tommy’s daughter dating the stable boy and Tommy's reaction to a first date, were requested by a couple of lovely anons.

Fair warning: Tommy is overprotective and quite mean here. Ngl, this is going to be rough and I apologize in advance.

Arrow House, 1930

“Do you want to have a race?” Charlie excitedly asked little Ruby. It had been raining for days and this was his first chance to leave Arrow House. He was buzzing with the prospect of stretching his legs outside in the fresh air.

“You know you always win. You’re older and you’ve got longer legs” you replied, rustling his hair. “What if I race you to the stables? Give you a real challenge, eh?,” you asked with a mischievous smirk.

“Alright,” he agreed following you to the front steps.

“One, two,…” you said before taking off before finishing the count. You heard Charlie squeal out, “Hey, that’s not fair! I’m going to get you, y/n!” Before running out the door after you.

As you neared the stables, you slowed considerably seeing a handsome young man petting your horse. He was talking to Uncle Charlie unaware of your presence until your brother ran up behind you and gave you a shove. You lurched forward into the thick, black mud with a shriek.

“Charles Thomas Shelby!” You cried looking down at your mud stained clothing. Charlie just laughed and ran off, leaving you to pick yourself up.

Uncle Charlie called out, “I think you lost that one, y/n!” with a hearty chuckle. Cheeks flushed with embarrassment, you stood slowly wiping yourself off with as much dignity as you could muster. “Come ‘ere and meet the new stable boy,” he said motioning you over. You made an effort to wipe the mud from your cheek and push your hair back, even though there wasn’t much you could do to improve your appearance now. Slinking over to the young stranger you smiled meekly.

“I’m Faron, nice to meet you,” he said warmly extending a hand. You wiped the mud from your palm and shook his hand quickly, ducking your head to avoid his gaze. He was even better looking up close and it made your stomach churn in a funny way. Before your nerves set in any more, you excused yourself back to the house to change. The whole way back you could think of nothing except the newcomer.

At dinner your father and Lizzie discussed household business. You picked at your food, barely listening until they mentioned the new stable boy. “Faron?” you called out with more excitement in your voice than you intended.

Your father turned toward you slowly with a raised eyebrow. “You already met him?” he asked. You quickly realized your father was watching you for a reaction.

“Uncle Charlie introduced us. We didn’t speak long, but he seemed like a nice lad,” you said trying to be nonchalant. You couldn’t let him know how much you fancied Faron or he would become even more protective over you than usual.

“I see,” Tommy said with pursed lips.

Unable to hid your curiosity you asked, “He looks young, is he my age?”

Pointing a finger at you in warning he said, “Don’t get any ideas, y/n. He’s here to help with the horses not to entertain you. Remember that.”

“Of course, Dad,” you said with a gulp.

Despite his stern warning at dinner, you couldn’t help thinking of Faron that evening. You didn’t want to leave him with that image of you playing childish games and covered in mud. In any case, you always visited your horse in the evenings. You were so sheltered at Arrow House, the mare had become your closest friend.

When your father had retired to his study and your stepmother and siblings were in bed, you grabbed a shawl and headed for the stables. The sky had not yet turned to inky blackness, but it was still hard to navigate a path in the dim light that remained. As you got closer you wondered if you should turn back, nerves worsening with each step.

You shouldn’t have fretted over Faron’s reaction because you caught his attention the moment you walked in and he beamed at the sight of you. “Good evening, Miss Shelby,” he greeted you formally.

“Hello, Faron. Please call me, y/n,” you said shyly.

“What brings you out here so late?” he said continuing to brush the horses.

“I always come down to say goodnight to Lady Buttercup,” you said lingering by the door.

Faron quirked an eyebrow.

“I named her when I was a little girl,” you said blushing at the silly name. “Everyone just calls her Lady now,” you explained twisting your fingers nervously.

“Well I’ll be sure to take exceptional care of Lady then,” he said holding your gaze. You broke the tension picking up a brush to help him with his work.

“You don’t have to do that, miss. I’ll see to it that they’re groomed properly,” Faron offered.

“I don’t mind. Before you came, I used to come help Curly as much as I could. I love horses. I was practically born riding,” you said, more at ease chatting now that you had something to occupy your hands.

“I’ve spent my whole life around horses too. I’d like to be a trainer one day,” Faron said shaking his fringe from his eyes. He had a boyish charm that was sweet and disarming. You wondered why you’d been afraid to speak to him.

“How are you getting on with them?” You asked, jerking your head toward the other horses who could occasionally be heard turning and stomping in their stalls.

“Fine, thanks. Although, Dangerous is aptly named. Unpredictable that one!” he said with a chuckle.

You giggled knowing full well what a handful he could be for someone who wasn’t used to him.

“He’s sensitive so you have to be careful when you groom him or he’ll try to bite,” you warned.

“Wish someone had told me that earlier,” he said, sheepishly raising a bandaged hand for you to see.

You clapped a hand over your mouth so as not to laugh at his pain, but the sight was amusing.

“It’s alright to laugh. I should have known better, but I’ve not had much experience with thoroughbreds,” he admitted.

“You’ll get used to him, I promise,” you said with a reassuring smile.

He nodded. “Mixed blood is stronger, you know? Like your Lady. She’s a good horse,” he said trying to pay you a compliment by way of your animal.

You smiled unsure of how to respond. “She is...I’ll come for a ride in the morning after breakfast. I’ll say goodnight,” you said hinting at your next meeting. “I’ll have your horse ready for you,” he said with a grin. You thanked him before running back to the house, exhilarated by the happiness you felt.

For the next few weeks, you arrived at the stables after breakfast for your morning ride. As promised, Faron was always there with Lady saddled and ready. This morning was no different. He greeted you politely, helping you mount your horse and watching you gallop off into the fields. You had no way of knowing he was watching you mesmerized by your every movement.

You had a pleasant ride and returned to the grounds surrounding the mansion. As you returned you spotted Faron in the distance and you smiled to yourself. Just then, Lady reared up and you were thrown from her back as she galloped off to the stables without you. You dropped into the grass with a thud, watching a black adder slither past as the blue sky faded to deep, dark fog.

When you awoke, you were in Faron’s strong arms being carried toward the stables.

“Are you alright?” He asked looking down at you tenderly, bright green eyes glinting in the sunlight. His soft, full lips were so close to yours, your heart began to beat quickly at the sight.

“Yes, I think so," you gulped nervously. "I’ll walk now,” you said suddenly breaking the trance, feeling embarrassed when you remembered he’d seen you fall off your horse.

Faron stopped and slowly placed your feet on the ground. You wobbled slightly as you stood, still feeling a bit woozy and he offered a hand to steady you. You looked at him and let out a nervous laugh saying, “I feel so foolish.”

“Don’t…It wasn’t your fault,” Faron said kindly trying to comfort you. You slipped your hand from his grasp, making an excuse that you needed to lie down and he nodded in understanding. As you walked away you shook your head muttering to yourself. You were developing feelings for Faron, but he was always such a gentleman around you. You doubted he felt romantically toward you and you wished you could stop thinking of him that way.

Later that night you felt guilty you hadn’t thanked him for coming to your aid. You strolled back to the barn knowing he would be finishing his nightly chores. You often bookended your day by riding in the morning and visiting the stables in the evening to talk. Faron was much like you- gypsy mother, a love of horses and a shy, quiet demeanor that often left him feeling overlooked by others. While you were clearly easing each other’s loneliness, you still wondered if he saw you as anything more than a friend.

You were still considering this possibility as a mouse ran over your foot and you squealed in shock. Your high pitched shriek announced your presence in the barn.

“Y/n?” Faron called, peeking out from the stall he was cleaning.

“It was just a mouse,” you said looking around quickly for the tiny creature. It had disappeared into the night.

“You need a cat,” Faron said with a chuckle. “It would help your rodent problem,” he said matter-of-factly.

“We’ve never had that problem before,” you stated feeling confused.

“With all respect, I think you do now. That’s why you have snakes so close to the barn. Ever since Arthur and your Uncle Charlie loaded that building a fortnight ago,” Faron said as though this were common knowledge. He rested his pitchfork against the wall and came to sit next to you.

You didn’t care about your father’s business, but you were concerned for the horses and you knew your father would be as well. “You need to tell my father. He’d be upset if something happened. Maybe not to Lady, but Dangerous or one of the other race horses…he’d care about them.”

“What about you? Does he care about you, you reckon?” Faron asked sensing your relationship with your father was strained.

“He’s not an easy man to get to know,” you said swallowing thickly. “He left my mum in trouble before the war. When she died of the flu, Aunt Polly raised me until he came back. I was four by then and he frightened me. She always said I was a reminder of his guilt.” You took a deep breath realizing how much you’d just told him about your past. Looking away quickly, you admitted, “I’m not sure why I said that…”

You felt Faron move closer to you and you breathed in his comforting scent of leather, musk and hay. “I understand. My mum and sisters died of tuberculosis when I was twelve. I was the only child who survived. My dad left camp because he thought I was cursed. I started working with the horses because they were the only ones who listened,” he explained slowly. He ducked his head to find your gaze. “So you see? We’re the same, you and me.”

Faron began looking at you with a curious expression. Then he leaned forward to brush your cheek gently with his fingertips and asked, “Would it be alright if I kissed you?”

You sat up suddenly, unsure how to react when faced with the reality of your daydream.

“Have you ever been kissed?” he asked sweetly.

“I…yes….and no…” you said answering both his questions at once. He could tell how nervous you were as your voice faded and you bit your lip.

He chuckled softly at your response and said, “Close your eyes,” before cupping your chin and placing a soft, slow kiss to your waiting lips. Your heart pounded in your chest and you felt the familiar return of butterflies in your stomach. You leaned into his touch, melting at the feeling of being so close to him finally. His hand released you slowly and you pulled away with a goofy smile lingering on your face.

Wanting to remain in the moment, you buried your head in his chest and he held you there, running a hand along your back and up into your hair. You looked up at him with soft eyes and he bent his head for another kiss, one with more passion this time and you never wanted it to end. You pulled the back of his head to you and he allowed his hand to wander over your thigh as you moaned softly at the contact. You were still panting for air when you heard the thud of boots close by.

“On your fucking feet…” you heard your father’s voice call out the warning in a low, dangerous tone. You heard a gun cock and your heart raced, suffering the fear his enemies knew well.

You knew you couldn’t let Faron get hurt when you were equally to blame so you came out from the stall first, hands raised as you called out in a shaky voice, “Don’t shoot, Dad.”

Tommy lowered his weapon quickly and holstered it, exhaling loudly. “What the fuck are you doing out here this time of night, eh?”

Before you could reply, a pitchfork fell over and Tommy raced into the stall to find Faron. Piecing the scene together quickly his rage began boiling beneath the surface.

“Out,” Tommy commanded angrily, reaching for his gun once more.

“Mr. Shelby, sir,” Faron said cautiously raising his hands.

You rushed to your father’s side, pulling on his arm. “Dad, stop it!” Although you were accustomed to your father’s neglect, you’d never been on the receiving end of his temper. You were about to feel the full weight of it now as he turned and struck you across the face. “That’s enough, y/n,” he spat.

You held your burning cheek as tears blurred your vision. You glanced at Faron and saw the fear in his eyes. “Go to the house,” Tommy commanded, shoving you by the shoulder in the direction of home. Afraid and hurt, you stumbled in the darkness. You fell as you reached the front steps, collapsing in a heap.

Soon after Tommy stomped through the gravel, stopping long enough to point at you, “I want to speak with you in the morning. Can’t even look at you right now,” he said before taking the stairs two at a time.

You tossed and turned all night wondering what your father would say to you. As dawn approached, you studied your bruised cheek in the mirror wondering how the most wonderful night of your life had turned to horror so quickly. You dressed slowly, dreading the walk to your father’s office. Hearing your footsteps, Tommy called in his intimidating timber, “Y/n, come!”

You entered with hunched shoulders, feeling very small in his presence. “Yes, Dad?”

“Have a seat. I’ll be brief because I have business in London this afternoon,” he said stamping out his cigarette in the ashtray.

You shifted in your chair, waiting for him to hand down his orders as though you were one of his soldiers.

“Y/n, why did you disobey me when I asked you not to interfere with the duties of the staff?”

You looked down at your hands folded in your lap and replied in a quiet voice, “I wasn’t interfering...,” you began.

“No!” Tommy slammed his hand on his desk. “Don’t” he warned, holding up a finger. “Don’t you dare lie to me.”

Feeling emotional and exhausted from lack of sleep, you sadly admitted, “I never get to see anyone my own age. I was lonely, Dad.”

“So you decided to sleep with the stable boy? Your mum and I went through all of this. It’s not a game, y/n. There are consequences,” he warned you harshly.

You shook your head. “Dad, we weren’t doing anything. Besides I’m old enough to date if I wanted,” you pointed out.

“You’re sixteen years old, y/n. I won’t allow it!” Tommy shouted over you.

“Exactly, I’m sixteen, old enough to make my own choices! I like Faron, Dad. He’s good and decent,” you argued with him.

Tommy clenched his jaw and exhaled heavily through his nose. You were so stubborn.

“It doesn’t matter now. Faron won’t be staying here any longer. I need good men now that we’re moving opium and he’s accepted the job,” Tommy informed you.

“He’s going to become a Peaky Blinder?” you said blinking in confusion.

Your father nodded quickly.

You furrowed your brow, "You’re worried about him corrupting me, but you're corrupting him!”

“That’s ridiculous. I'm giving him an opportunity,” your father said realizing it sounded like a lie the moment he said it.

"You just want to get him out of Arrow House and away from me!" you shouted accusingly.

“You don’t get to decide and that’s final," he yelled back.

You stormed out of his office, running for the stables. You had to warn Faron what he was agreeing to before it was too late. Even if it meant him returning to the gypsy camp and leaving you forever, you didn’t want to see someone so gentle forced to wield a gun and a blade. You knew how it changed people.

You’d often heard your Aunt Polly talk about the kind, gentle man your father was before the war and and his ambition to work with horses. You often wondered who he would have become if he had chosen a different path for himself after the war. Perhaps he could have healed.

When you reached the stables, you found Faron packing. He stopped you wordlessly searching for your father or any other blinders who might be around watching. “Y/n, I’m sorry about last night. Your father’s still agreed to employ me. It was very generous of him,” he said with hope in his eyes.

You caught sight of a peaky cap laying beside his bag and winced at the sight. “Do you know what we do? We Shelbys?” You asked with tears forming in your eyes.

“I think so, yes,” Faron replied, turning pensive once he saw your stricken expression.

“You might think you understand now, but you don’t know the reality of it. It will change you,” you said, pushing the stray lock of hair from his forehead in concern.

“I’ll help your father with whatever he asks, but I’ll still be myself. I care for you, you know. Do you think you could still care for me too?” Faron asked shyly.

“You want my father’s blessing, but you’ll never have it. He doesn’t want me to be with someone like him.” You paused for a moment, chewing your lip before looking in his eyes and admitting, “I don’t want that either. I like you because you’re different. I thought you’d never hurt anyone.”

“I wouldn’t hurt anyone, y/n,” Faron said taking your hands in his. “This a business agreement. Your father says if I work for him for a time, he’ll introduce me to May Carleton. Maybe I can still be a horse trainer one day,” he justified.

You dropped his hands and scoffed in frustration, “You’re being naive. They’ll have you take that cap to someone’s eyes the first week and then the work will only get more dangerous,” you said gravely. Faron tried to grab your arm, but you pulled away, “No, Faron. I won’t watch you change into a monster.” You turned from him, stumbling away with Faron calling out to you. The only thing you could think to do was run as quickly as you could, feeling the burning in your legs so you wouldn’t register the ache in your heart.

Six months later….

It was late one evening when Finn trudged into the parlor of Arrow House. Although he was your uncle, he’d been more like a brother to you growing up as you were only a few years apart. This evening he crossed to the liquor cabinet and poured himself a drink before joining you by the fire.

“Why are you here so late, Finn? Have you only come to steal Dad’s expensive whisky?” you joked, stifling a yawn. Finn downed his drink anxiously causing you to stare. You marked the page in your book shutting it gently. “Finn, what’s wrong?” you asked with trepidation.

“Bit of trouble with our business partners,” he said cryptically going back for another round. There was silence as he uncorked the decanter once more and poured another drink slowly.

Finally he blurted out, “Bonnie Gold is dead,” in a somber tone, as he swirled the liquid in his glass thoughtfully before turning it up and gulping it down. It was difficult for him to say. You knew the two of them had been close. All the junior Peaky Boys were like family.

You were shaken by the news as well. Another man dead, probably because of a new feud your father had started. It all seemed so senseless to you. In that moment you wanted to ask about Faron, but wondered if you should. Although you thought about him constantly, you only had sporadic contact now that he was working in Birmingham. As if reading your mind, Finn offered a bit of news.

“Your man, Faron, killed a Billy Boy last night. He did well,” he said, nodding to himself as if that brought him a small bit of comfort.

You felt your ears ringing with his words. “He what?” you asked standing to be sure you heard your uncle correctly.

“Tommy’s orders, said he had to get his hands dirty this time. If you ask me, I think he took satisfaction in it though. He wanted revenge for Bonnie just as much as any of us,” he said telling you more than what you wanted to hear. You stopped yourself from being sick and excused yourself, rushing to your room to be alone.

One week later…

It was dinnertime and your father had joined the family at the table for the first time in weeks. He said business was keeping him away, which irked your stepmother. She would sulk about his absence, but never say much about it. This evening they were fighting and you sat pushing your food around the plate, unable to eat. You hadn’t had much of an appetite after learning the truth about Faron’s actions.

Frances appeared in the doorway, effectively ending their argument. You were grateful for the peace until she announced the arrival of Finn, Isiah and Faron. You tried to take slow, steady breaths as everyone filed out of the dining room.

As you looked down the corridor for signs of the men, you noticed your siblings being lead to the nursery with the nanny. You wondered how long they would stay oblivious to everything that went on in Arrow House. Charlie had begun asking questions about his father's business and little Ruby kept a toy gun by her tea set. No one was truly innocent in this house, you thought.

As you passed by the office you caught sight of the men assembled before your father's desk, soldiers in front of their general. When Faron saw you watching them from the hall, he came toward the door and you wondered if he wanted to speak with you. As he came closer, he stared past you with a vacant look that gave you chills. Every bit of light and warmth had gone from his beautiful, green eyes. Without a word he closed the heavy door with a thud, shutting you out forever.

Because still right now while Charles is a bit behind in quali (no confidence in the car) he is still better in race pace. And his race craft help tremendously for Carlos to keep his position.

So everytime it’s Charles race that has to be compromised. Already in 2022 we could see that.

Now Carlos who needs confidence in the car but also in himself can be on a high. And I agree Charles might stay behind in the standings. Could have been different with no mechanical failures and Ferrari fumbles that caused him two penalties for impending but… 🙄 Carlos is lucky I guess (i would say his side of the garage is just better because I don’t believe luck is a great explanation for 99% of what goes on at Ferrari). Charles lost some points when he tried too hard or not enough a few races back, we could sense he was frustrated with the year and the car. But after Monza and even today the faith he has in the team still… I guess he knows something we don’t.

I just need Ferrari to listen to his feedback and listen to him more than Carlos. We know Carlos prefers a car that will be slower. The field is coming together now so they need to be able to extract everything and that mean not an understeery car.

I fear Carlos recent form will get us back to 2021-start of 2022 : no first driver, Carlos resisting orders … the situation needs to be clear right away. Or Charles needs to be more like Carlos and do his own thing, but he won’t. Like today you’d think Carlos came up with the strategy, while Charles is barely acknowledged but he is the one who started on softs and who asked for the free pit stop but was denied. (Ooops I’m a bit mad again, the lack of ambition in this team. Yes let Carlos take p1 and don’t do a 2019 again but maybe trying to get both car on the podium for a top team is not completely out of reach?)

(In my wildest dreams Ferrari and Carlos would also acknowledge Charles work today, because without him we would be looking at Lando 1st win or Merc back on top that’s a given. We really need to work on teamwork and recognizing it, it’s crazy).

This is why I'm so frustrated—it's less about this one singular win (although, assuming Red Bull bounces back like nothing ever happened in Japan and this remains the one and only non-RB win in the entire season then obviously the optics will be massively skewed to Carlos's benefit) and more about what this means on a larger scale in terms of how Ferrari operates and their future long-term trajectory.

Carlos's own ambitions and ego have gotten in the way of maximising results in the past. I don't see how that's going to change any time soon, especially now when he's buoyed by recent events. When the same is asked of him there's always an excuse and/or bargaining, "don't ask this of me," "stop inventing," "I can go faster just give me [x number of laps]" etc. I mean, we all remember Silverstone, and at that point the championship was still technically on the table even in spite of all the setbacks. Having seen what we've seen over the past few seasons I frankly don't trust him to go above and beyond in the team player game in a high stakes, high pressure scenario, like how Checo worked with Max in Abu Dhabi 2021.

Ngl it was so funny to see the team be so deathly afraid of an undercut they pulled off completely inadvertently back in 2019, lmao 😭😭😭 Fall back 3 seconds behind, 5 seconds... And yeah, failing to pit Charles under the VSC when he was willing to go for it... still feels like they're struggling to make decisions under pressure and are unwilling to gamble even when 1. it's what the driver wants, 2. they're not risking losing a win because Charles was already at a disadvantage after the initial hold-up in the pits. If it had been the wrong call then it would've been on Charles, but seeing how quickly the Mercs closed up on him and successfully passed him on fresher tyres... Feels like they're committed to making the exact same mistake over and over again with him. I've lost count of how many times he's made the right call, was denied/overruled, and then it turned out they lost out that way.

And yeah, it sure seemed like it was Carlos and Lando who were the Ferrari teammates that day with their little agreement. Like, I get it, they're friends off-track, and they can celebrate however they wish, but in terms of on-track happenings... 🤨 Don't think I've ever seen Carlos help Charles out like that tbh.

Disappointing from the team for sure, but as for Carlos, I've long gotten used to the fact that Charles is little more than an footnote when he's high on his own success 🤷🏻‍♀️

As for Charles and still having faith in the team... Idk, it's hard to tell what's going on at the moment. Recently we've had quotes about how the team seems to have "figured out" the weaknesses in the car and they pointed to Monza as a sort of breakthrough weekend, but they certainly weren't expecting 1. Red Bull annual Singapore stinker, 2. to be competitive at this track. So I'm not sure if whatever they're doing at the moment is actually helping any—or rather, helping Charles any, since he's still vocal about struggling with the handling of the car while Carlos is on cloud nine with how the car feels for him—or if this is just Charles cutting his losses and looking forward to a clean slate in 2024.

I do find it interesting how he was willing to fight down to the wire in Monza over a third place spot on the podium, but then here in Singapore he's sitting discussing pre-race strat with the team and seemingly agreeing to be used for Carlos's benefit. Was he that disappointed with himself in the Q3 mistake that he figured, okay, let's at least do what's best for the team even if it puts me at a disadvantage (possibility of a win sky-rocketing after Red Bull's flop era was confirmed in qualy) or... Because he did comply, but he also had to point out that if they slow him down too much they're going to just back him into George, and that it would be more beneficial to ask Carlos to pick up the pace since he was at the front controlling it.

Been two days so I can say it now,

I saw the thing with Alice coming a mile away since the first ep, her second appearance with the art smashing just solidified that she was building some weird art piece around Mabel's life. Ngl the actress is kind of stilted in her performance too, feel bad for Mabel tho, love that girl. Like she was being too vague and tone deaf on how Mabel felt with lying even though she was giving that phony ass I'm listening vibes.

There's no going back after especially having actors dress up as her dead friends, knowing from the podcast and from probably what little Mabel DID talk about herself that she was still very upset about Tim's death.

The Sazz breaking up for Charles thing was funny af though. She might have a strained relationship with him but I still think it's cool she was like yeah I'll break up with this murderer for you bro. Charles and Oliver's awkward hug was great.

Though damn their 20 something pseudo daughter is in trouble now, hopefully Poppy can help somehow.

IN THE ORIGINAL CHARLES WAS LEGIT SUPPOSED TO SLAY THE DRAGON anyway thank u my friend and CHARLES DRAGONRIDER COMRADE

What was I thinking when I wrote this: PHEW WE FINALLY GOT HERE!!!! (because this is where the fic was going the whole time). I guess I was also really worried it would be too short and anticlimactic. I always knew the fic as a whole would end... unresolved... but i was a bit like - how do I put together the mail being lost + the Darkness coming + this sort of parallel human/dragon society thing + Charles' new political position as an emissary for the king + how achieving dreams never comes in the form expected. In some ways, I think i executed things okay, in others, I felt as though I was muddling through the dark.

The great dragon totally became its own character and the scene went MUCH differently than planned and like yes the great dragon still dies (or does he? He does). I honestly wanted the scene to be much longer than it ended up but to be frank, writing fantasy epic prophecy is a gift i do NOT HAVE hence why the dragon is like okay you people totally made up the prophecy and it has nothing to do with me (this is probably not true. I think it probably WAS manufactured out of SOMETHING the great dragon said and embellished etc but that's not the point)

Back to the thing where this scene is supposed to weave a lot together - I read a lot of fantasy (I don't really consider myself a fantasy fan but of course I am. I'm almost done with the wise man's fear which is like 1100 pages) and obviously I write a fair bit so I kind of wanted to put those things together. And also Charles imo is the f1 driver most suited to a fantasy style story with its twists and turns (I think an arg could also be made for seb and perhaps daniel, though a different, less hopeful story). Anyway this started as trying to mimic the fantasy I read as a kid (think like... Fablehaven. Eragon) but of course is much more influenced by the much more complex (actually idk I didn't reread any ya fantasy for this) stuff I read now and this scene is sort of a clumsy culmination of those two influences - what I sort of think a fantasy Stereotype climax is (because it really is - a boy and his dragon! It's genre!!). I really learned that keeping all those strands of plot and feeling straight is a LOT harder than I expected. I have only written one fic longer than this one and ngl it's more straightforward. so idk. i wrote it because i love Charles and i love a dream that is not quite what you expect. the funny thing about writing this fic is I didn't know where it would end up as much as I usually do. And it just sort of spiraled out of everything else... idk!

in terms of charles... i know this is a plot driven fic but i wanted to show Charles 1) tenacity 2) shyness!! 3) need to be liked (i mean who wouldn't want to be liked by a giant dragon anyway) 4) the fact that he Is the chosen one even though it's not what everyone thought when they looked at him at the academy and whatnot 5) he's hard working!. I also wanted to dig more into what it meant for him and carlotta to fly together after the great dragon but alas...

on the great dragon grind....i have to be honest I was sort of imagining that John hunt dragon voice from merlin but in reality (in fantasy?) its meant to represent that the dragon's voice can truly not be comprehended by man... so Charles imitating it (by accident!) is a big deal....idk. It's like - how do you create that feeling of awe and importance in a fic that's only 30k! I was writing it and I was like ok so u guys don't know the in world magic or the dragon society rules or the history/lore... and then i was like this is already 30k and for me and my 5bffs it cannot get any longer for my own health

Ok i guess I could tell you way more about whats actually going on with charles and the Dragon In His Head or Dragon Charles But I honestly sort of came up with a lot of that... On the fly... Or maybe it's because that all would be the reveal in a sequel (idk that I'm planning on writing one but I've got a long winter ahead of me.... and the great dragon did live in the ice wall... and Charles is... Yknow...)

Non-Spoiler Review: THIS EPISODE!! This episode had the Peter Morgan writing I have loved for The Crown since S1 and that went all out in S4. I’ve been missing this spark all season and he FINALLY got it back after 8 episodes - s i r why. So far, this and Mou Mou have been the best written episodes of the season. We deserved more punchy episodes like this especially in highlighting the media war between Diana and Charles. But phew what a way to showcase the end of their marriage. I really really loved the writing of this episode!

Spa goes on and on and I can't keep up this week 😅

So, this week has been interesting, since between work and plans coming along the way, I haven't been able to watch anything on time in the end 😂

I'm gonna be posting this after I watch the race and everything else, because yesterday I was only able to watch FP2, and today I'll be watching FP3, Quali and the race after work. I'll be starting with what I wrote yesterday about FP2, which wasn't really much, and I'll continue with what I'll be writing through today about the rest.

So I'm currently watching FP2 and the one thing that caught my eye was the near miss from Lewis in Eau Rouge, because I almost lost it. Jesus Christ, thankfully our baby boy (I know he's 37. Just... Okay?) knows exactly what he's doing and with a little luck could save it on time. Otherwise, my washing machine was way more interesting so far. If I'd tried to watch this last night it would've put me to sleep, then I did good going to sleep before even trying 😂

I'm going out later and I know for a fact I'll be back too late to keep writing or watching anything at all, so see ya tomorrow.

It's not like a lot more happened in FP3 whatsoever. Pretty boring, pretty standard. I'm actually looking for flights in the mean time ngl.

Verstappen saying there were no yellow flags to slow down for and still getting called out for not slowing down. The "funny" remark from his engineer was way too obvious. Where the fuck do these people leave their neurons?

Now Sharl going up against the wall through the gravel causing a Red Flag... My heart can't take this anymore 🥲 thank goodness he could take it outta there... but that's about it. Absolutely nothing going on.

Now onto Quali, it still amazes me how the commentators keep diminishing Mercedes and both Lewis and George. Yes, they might be struggling, not doing as good as expected and everything, but they're still Mercedes and they're definitely still Lewis and George.

Not much going on really, Seb missed Q2, a shame, I wish he had the chance to go through every single time and make some points during races before retiring, he deserves at least a nice going away ending.

Nothing going on either during Q2, Mick and Daniel dropped as well, and I still don't get how's it possible that Albon went through to Q3, meh.

Onto Q3 now before going to work and not so exciting for now, honestly I hope the race gives us something, because otherwise this will be the most boring comeback. And I counted on Spa giving us a little something something, you know?

There's just been a moment where Carlos got in the middle of the tow Ocon was trying to give Alonso? With Lewis right behind them too? And now Charles giving Carlos a tow and as usual Carlos not doing his teammate's work justice losing the chance. And he obviously got pole anyway due to all the penalties.

So now after all the penalties are applied, Charles starts from P16, Inbred Frog from P15, Norris from P18, Estie Bestie from P17, Mick from P20... and that benefits my Merc boys who are now starting Lewis from P4 and George from P5, Daniel from P7 and Seb from P10. It's gonna be an interesting one at least at the very start. Let's see what it brings us, which I'll see way later and I'll know before I even start the streaming.

It's time for the race and I have no words. I truly don't. The start was amazing in general, but whoa. I'm actually not paying attention anymore and it's been just 7 laps.

Look, I might take that Lewis made a mistake closing that gap with Alonso when he was on the outside, but nothing else. His left rear tyre passed over Alonso's front right tyre and over the side, not over him like Verstappen's did at Monza last year, let's not mistake shit. Plus, he admitted he did it wrong and apologized and blamed himself enough times to break any fans heart. How many drivers do that? Alonso doesn't so many people need to just fuck off already.

The one good thing I've seen at the restart besides how sexy the Safety Car really is, is George not letting Alonso pass him. My dear boy.

Apart from this bittersweet moment, I haven't really paid attention to any of it. The summary would be: RedBull have an illegal car and that's why they're that, as Marina says 😂, Ferrari making clown decisions as they usually do and Estie Bestie's amazeballs overtake on Pierre and Seb at the same time, which was fantastic.

I'm really not looking forward to next weekend in Zandvoort, bet my ass you all know why. First because it's a boring ass circuit and second because it's the house of a certain douche. Plus, not gonna be able to watch anything until the following day each day since I'm working until midnight every single day that weekend. Lucky me 🤪

Anyway, it's time for bed and forget about this day now. Peace out!

No it’s not only Ferrari taking parts but PU-wise it’s still Ferrari situation that is the most unsure on that front. Because we are reminded of 2022. They have make a great step with the set up. I hope we’ll get to see both drivers have a smooth quali and race at Baku to ha a fuller picture of where we can stand.

We’ve seen weird things from RB on reliability, but they are lucky it happens at the right time for now. (Same with Hulkenberg. We need that kind of luck for Charles) And their pace advantage make it less worrying if they have to make a come back from a bad quali or penalty.

Mercedes will also be interesting. Last year they were really reliable so that Pu failure so soon is surprising. But I’m more worried about their driver pairing right now ! Being as close as they can be in quali and race and with better opportunities than last year could lead to some issues.

Oh for sure. I've just reached the toxic positivity stage of the season (sad that we are here after 3 races.. ) Nah, but I'm just trying to find the positives and see things as positive as I can.

It is still Charles that we are talking about. If the watch resumes doing it's job then he should be doing fine from now on!

I was super surprised by that failure, there were merc engine failures but iirc only McLaren.
