So I was just out skating with my posse of mismatched queers and one of them ran ahead to go down this railing but he got jumped by some guy so I ran ahead to fight the guy off my buddy and then I felt this bad pain in my chest (found out later that he stabbed me) and then I woke up in this freaky church in front two honestly pretty shitty witches and one of them was holding this really important necklace which someone tethered my spirit (oh by the way I was dead at that point) and the shitty witch tried to release my soul but it didn't work so I struck a deal with him to keep me around and he had to sneak me past his whole witchy family and stowed me in his room until we had to go to school next morning before going to see my friends which didn't go well and then we went to see my idiot brother and him and the shitty witch who is actually pretty hot got in this big fight and I stole a shirt that led some dogs to my old burritos. Anyway I was kinda starting to like my shitty witch warden so I said he could release my soul now but he didn't want to so we spent the day together and I peer pressured him into going to a party and robbing my brother's car and then he went to visit his dead mom but his evil uncle (that's the guy who stabbed me fwy) started using me and some other dead people to summon this death god but my witchy bf (we kissed so I'm pretty sure we're dating now) stopped his evil uncle and also resurrected me and like three other people from the dead. I'm pretty sure the whole thing traumatised me for life but I got a cool magic boyfriend out of it so I can't really complain.

If anyone is looking for more tragic queers while waiting for more of your current medias to come out I recommend the book Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas! It’s a singular book so it’s wrapped up by the end, the main character is a trans man, and it’s kinda a fantasy/horror romance novel

Y'all ever have this book that is so amazing and interesting that it's different from anything else you've ever read? That the first time you read it, you could not put it down and read into late hours of the night? The kind of book you could read a thousand times? The kind that you could read over and over again and still be on the edge of your seat with your breath caught in the back of your throat and your stomach in knots? The book that is so incredible that you can't express it so you're just fidgeting, pacing, screaming into a pillow, and crying as you read? A story that brings you comfort and happiness? One that brings you to a whole other plane of existence? A book that changed your life for the better?

God I'm so glad I decided to read No Pollution, No Public Harm. Gan Qing is a fucking gift. I'm genuinely thrilled that for once I've found an interesting m/f dynamic where the woman gets the be the tortured, edgy, mysterious one.

I'm in mid to late book three, and man, the other women in the novel are a mixed bag, but Gan Qing is just so good. She's a shameless brash menace of a person on the surface and an obviously traumatized hardass underneath. If she's not already a murderer, then she's constantly teetering on the edge of becoming one. She's got layers. She dropped out of high school but she corrects the mistakes on Liu Zhongqi's english homework. She hangs out around her apartment in oversized basketball shorts and gets sick from running after eating too many chicken wings and she could slit somebody's throat with her house key. She's cool as hell and legit terrifying and she's gross and messy and weird. 10/10 the love interest of all time genuinely.

#maybe I just read/watch the wrong things but it's genuinely so refreshing to see a series w a male protagonist and a female love interest #where the woman is such like. a well rounded and cool and un-sexualized character #she's violent she's tortured she self-sabotages she's a sillygoofy little menace that eats junk food and sells astrology charms #I picked this novel to read in large part bc I wanted to see how priest would handle a female love interest #since the two danmei I've read by her are such absolute boys' clubs but the women in TS are so good #and the answer so far as of midway through the series. is that she does it *really* well #there hasn't actually been much in the way of romance yet #but the confrontation in the cemetery. man #I can see the echos of mo du just a bit in their dynamic #the relatively straight-laced main character desperately trying to keep a person he cares about from taking a step down a dark path #that they can't come back from #andie reads npnph #no pollution no public harm

K so I just read the Cemetery Boys and spoilers for this one but is Julian a Brujo??? For all we know his mum could have been a Bruja that just left for whatever reason and that's why he never knew. They talked a lot about how he wasn't a Brujo and thus couldn't return on Dia de Muertos. The amount of time sit was brought up makes me suspicious plus right at the start of the book, it is established that the Brujx can feel when a Brujx is dying. When they're back in the church at the end Yadreil can feel Julian dying like he did with Miguel so why would he have been able to do that if Julian isn't a Brujo that just never knew about it? Yadriel also felt Rio's fatigue. And I can't remember if they explained this in the book but only the Brujx can see spirits and Julian surely saw Camila at the end.

Also, Julian showed Yadriel a picture of his family except for his mum so maybe she's a Bruja in the community but Yadriel doesn't know she's Julian's mum and Julian doesn't know she's a Bruja? And Rio was there when their mum was and I know it's not the diosa but he does have that tattoo on his arm. I know it's a little far fetched but I really hope we find out he is a Brujo in the sequel and that's why he's helping them stop the maligno spirits.

#very very very good day #being unemployed needs to have perks #i thought i would be walking around paris this afternoon but i decided to check out the cemetery #and it was so nice to roam in it and read on a bench in the sun that i stayed two hours lmao #the exhibit was really good as well #on women war photographers #at the shop i got one book (un broché - même pas un poche!) and two dvds for 12€#i bought some like it hot and steam boy #the movie was nice as well #the drawings were breathtaking‚ i wouldn't expect anything else from ocelot #and i walked my friend home and we made plans to watch ocelot's previous movie soon #i'm quietly happy #romanticize your daily life something something #bc that's the recipe to happiness right there #art friends family and nice places to see #lise raconte sa vie #lise en balade

hi, since we're friends on goodreads i noticed you read the sunbearer trials by aiden thomas and i was curious as to whether you'd recommend it? i adored cemetery boys last year but was disappointed by lost in the never woods, so am a little cautious about diving right into another of their works

hi robin <3 i noticed you're rereading aftg and are almost done with tkm!! i just finished my reread yesterday, and what can i say, even after my sixth read i am still obsessed with everything about it.

mmmh, i liked the sunbearer trials, but i am not sure if i would recommend it? it's not bad, i think it's great ya fantasy and a well-rounded start to a fantasy series, but it is pretty young in tone (it feels like the intended age-range is 12-14, i'd say). so if you're simply looking for a ya fantasy read that works as a palate cleanser (bc it isn't that intense and graphic and pretty quick to get through), i'd recommend it. but if you're looking for something gripping and genre-defining, this book is not it. it's also not very heavy on the romance if that's something that's important to you in any way.

#i don't think i will pick up the next book when it comes out simply bc i have so much else to read & i don't think i'll get much out of it #but as i said if you're looking for a ya read that falls on the lower part of the age range i'd give it a shot #bc it's a good book. it's just not something i am currently looking to read more of.#hope this helps a little #i haven't read lost in the never woods but i really enjoyed cemetery boys as well.#but i think cb was more mature in tone that sunbearer is but maybe i am just getting old lmao #answer #hope you're having a wonderful weekend and happy holidays!! <3
