[Ⅶ] aegri somnia
a sick man's dreams.
You had a dream that night. There were many things wrong with it.
You were still the same age as you are now, sitting in the backseat of a car. Your head was pressed against the cool glass of the window, the sky washed in gold and beige. You instinctively reach for your camera, only to find it missing. Your parents sit on the front seats, saying nothing. They have the radio on, though, and the voice of some English singer fills the quiet ambience of the car. They were alive, you could see your father’s veiny hands tightly gripping the steering wheel. You can see your mother’s dyed hair, tied up messily and you can’t help but feel uncomfortable. She never tied up her hair. You say absolutely nothing to them, gazing out the window and listening to music none of you cared for.
You three make a pitstop. The rest stop is more old and country than you were used to, with only a singular picnic bench outside a diner. The setting didn’t look like it belonged to Japan and more like the ones you’ve seen in those old American films you used to rent out. Only one woman is sitting on the bench, cross-legged with her shoes missing. She’s wearing shorts and a navy tank top, a brimmed suncap on her head. She seemed like a foreigner, and when she looked up your suspicions were confirmed. Her skin is tan, with some obvious sun damage. Her blonde hair is in a loose ponytail, split ends fraying in the breeze. She spies the both of you alone, with your father having gone to fill up the gas. You both must have looked lost, standing together in silence. You tried to remember if your interactions with your mother had always been like this; or if it’s something new that came with being seventeen and no longer in love with the idea of her.
The stranger waves at you both, friendly and a little awkward, and you spy a cat on her lap. Its fur was a dark slate grey, green eyes were beady and beautiful. A Russian Blue cat. It seemed to love the woman’s embrace, cuddled nicely into her toned arms. Your mother stands stationary, even when you go to sit at the picnic table, and you ignore her. The blonde woman greets you happily, never tells you her name, but treats you like you’re an old friend. You feel very endeared to her, and it hasn’t even been three minutes. She tells you she’s something of a nomad.
“Grew up in Canada. I started travelling after high school. I met my husband in Guatemala, and we started exploring together. Just came from Australia, that’s where all the sunburns came from. You can’t underestimate the heat there, that’s for sure!”
She speaks in quick Japanese, and her sentences are jumbled, messy, and unnatural. However, her tone is hearty and you liked listening to her. She doesn’t ask anything about you, and you don’t mind. At one point the cat eventually climbs into your arms, purring contently. You feel a sharp pain. The Russian Blue digs its tiny claws into the exposed skin of your arm. It’s not supposed to hurt much, but it does. You don’t say anything, continuing to listen to the older woman patiently without even as much as flinching. She stops mid-sentence into her time in Guangzhou just to gasp at the sight of your bleeding arm. She shooed away the cat without a second thought and cradled your arm gently, cooing at you comfortingly. The action felt almost motherly. You glance behind you, to your mother who stands like a statue. She only stares back at you blankly. She looks like a confused child, looking at something she doesn’t understand. You don’t get it. What is confusing about her child being hurt?
“Ayame?”
You still can’t tear your eyes away from your mother, as much as you want to. You wait for her to do something, but she stays frozen. You wonder why the nice foreign lady keeps calling you your mother’s name.
Tumblr media
Your dream ends in a haze, but you’re startled by the firm knocking on your door. Takeba’s voice is muffled behind the slab of wood, but the urgency still rings clear. You mumble something to let her know to give you a second, but you don’t care if she hears you. You shrug on a cardigan hanging over your bedpost, clicking open the lock of your room. Takeba, donned in a cute pink sweater dress, stands outside your door and looks over your slovenly appearance that is a sharp contrast to her own, but quickly snaps out of it when you shoot her a miffed look.
“Good morn—er, afternoon,” She greets you, but she’s barely looking at you as she shifts her weight onto her other leg. “Kirijo-senpai asked me to check up on you. It’s noon.”
As if to cement her point, Takeba holds up her flip phone screen and the time is printed clearly on the top. You curse instinctively, running a hand through your unkempt hair.
“Sorry… it’s been a busy week,” And it’s not much of an excuse, but thankfully the brunette looks sympathetic as she nods in understanding. She reminds you that in the evening Ikutsuki will be paying a visit to give you an official induction into the team, and that already puts a damper on your mood. You still haven’t quite forgiven him for lying about his visit to you in the hospital, and instead sending the most intimidating girl you’ve ever known in his stead.
Takeba leaves you to your own devices, and you try to freshen up as best as possible with the oddly placed sink in your room. Even with cold water splashing on your face, your mind still fixates back on your incongruous dream. It was a peculiar experience, feeling the cool glass of the car window and the heat of the sun on your back, knowing the sensation belonged to you. Yet, it was undeniable that for that moment you weren’t you. The silky black tresses on your head weren’t yours, nor was the iron-pressed sailor uniform you wore. This was all your mother, and it made your skin crawl. Even five years after her being gone, your mother is still hauntingly alive and you can’t help the vexation it fills you with. The dead should stay dead.
In your haste, you miss the buzzing of your phone and only later will you come back to the notification, disappointed it’s not a concerned email from Yuko.
Don’t pick up: Missed call.

We have a lot of court cases that went to Superior Court then the federal courts and it's with them and they're trying daily to get you stuff. And mac daddy is working with them it's a huge effort he said no wonder the kid is suffering and screaming and finally he figured it out no kidding these armies are against it and they're up in my face and they're up in your face and she's warlock and I don't know what else to do except be cheap s**** rather than run your code so I said to be a problem but it's really a solution and we see what it is and it's true that Daddy said that last part in our son and they don't know what to do and it's horrible. We have to pick up the ball and we have to pick up the pace and today. And we have to get groceries in here and we need to find some avenues and we need to do it pronto and Max says no he sees that the idiots on the other hardware stores so he says he wants one but not near so we're asking where it says where can you deliver block from and it's anywhere in the state so put in your Tallahassee he says and then I'll stick something in your car and we need to actually so we're going to put one up there and probably Gainesville and our son says good they're building a lot of stuff there I think and they are storms and schools and they always build with block this is the ideal block for it cuz they attach everything to the walls so we're going to go there and set up a distributor for Grossman's and several outlets and today and we're going to meet with Mack and arrange it. That's that's one item
-I need to have a lot more continuity here this is starting to fall apart already and we see the deal with Stan is a mess and Stan says I don't see any foreigners and how's it going to work so Stan how's it going to work if you don't and it won't this is how it's going to work if the foreign is still get here for me and it won't and you see in a bunch of retires that look like foreigners and foreigners that look like retards so he gets it it here and they're examining stuff so he understands that and it won't be the only group now he's starting to understand that too so it is working out and that's another issue with here but we've got to pick up some pieces and Max do and he does and foreigners and he's more like her way out of line they are way out of line
-we're going after Tommy f and Trump and company and we're not going to stop then what they're doing is ridiculous and I can't afford it they're nasty nonsense is over. I'm assigning teams and we're going in but first and foremost I want to see what it works and I want to use it here I'm going to list the things that work and they're obscure but they do work like crazy my son's doing is working asking for the contract early and doing it correctly is having a strong effect on the max paying his rent and get it through and have their seat come is having a strong effect on the max and others foreigners too they can see what they're up to and on Australia and they're about to gang up on them and on the clones who are there too it's going to be a huge War there in minutes hallelujah
-we have other issues here and we're finally complaints and we're bringing lawsuits we'd like to sue Dan for everything he's worth for a lifetime of suffering I'm going to start in Massachusetts again we were mentioning the course and everything went to federal court and they're working on it but nobody's trying to get anything to him that was mentioned in the documents they're trying to get him other stuff and doesn't matter what we want is what was in court so the procedure is to go back to the lower court and say they're doing nothing and start over again and you just keep doing it and hauling them in and they'll go to jail if they don't pay the second time and they'll go to jail over and over the blame our son and we're going to be in it Max don't want it but they're the ones enforcing the rules in the law and they believe it's them so they want it so we're going to start over again and he wants to see a list so we're going to send him a list
-there's several people that keep on disturbing your son and the walk by and they're yelling and they're saying stuff and we're going to stop them from doing it and it's all over town everywhere he goes every time he goes somewhere these people cannot handle what he does or is fame or who he is at all they're junk. He says a giant they're jumping up and down they can big we'll take him down that's great they have to get them over the Prilosec and the antidote might wipe out the Prilosec and they're trying to get it to him all the time now
-other areas of concern here are his housing we have to make sure it's secure and even though a rental agreement is ready we hear and they plan on executing it we need to make sure it gets done and help them to do it and assist into our part in the least and we have a lot of work to do and I looked at and we do there's a ton of people here who are opposed to it so we have to get stuff cooking all over the place to make sure these people can't do anything Australia is going to be a blaze in a moment and they'll be sucked there and that's good the Zealand is emptying of them and we're making sure they don't get away. The upper Midwest is going to be embroiled today shortly Jason will begin his attacks and he's a problem in Florida and we're sending Grossman's there and that will start fixing it because we don't like to be denied for something so stupid and logical and these blocks have been used before and for years in locations and they are up still like in Greece and Rome. And New York City and other. And the old buildings too and they're still solid as hell. We have a few more things about here
-it's a lot of people yelling stuff and just about anybody and we don't want them doing that they're doing this stream of conscious stuff you're hallucinating stuff and people aren't buying it and they're just pulling them in and that's fine but it doesn't happen quick enough at least not happen a few times to one person and you started yelling and they went after him and all these Mac showed up start beating the s*** out of them but it's too late the guy was a mess and ruined and they said it too he's gone and we didn't get here in time and then asked about him and he said I lost family and they said oh and then it's a fight they said and it's a fight they'll get and they may end up and they're kicking their ass here but we need to get in here now so I'm calling troops and I'm calling for units and calling for volunteers and I'll tell you what we need to do the boat thing in the car thing and the bike thing and the construction thing and all sorts of other stuff for innovation work restaurant work people sitting around doing nothing and there's a bunch of construction there's some roofing he said roofing this one out of 10 roofs in Charlotte county that need roofs or 20 and it's true, it is about 1 out of 15 that needs to replacement or repair or a new roof and we will start doing that and those are pretty high on so I mean that's a lot of rules and this other damage and all over town there's people looking for people to do the work they grab a car they call it the guy says it's too busy they say please remove your cards until you're not busy he says remove them for me so I can't do that. So it's happening everywhere and it's too busy so he says you just put a sign out on the street corner and you get busy or you put cards in the grocery store and you're busy and we'll go ahead and do that I'm tired of people saying we're too busy on the phone and we're going to watch that too to make sure that they don't take our cars and if they do we're going to put them back up put new ones and grab the people and just keep doing it it's repetitive job and we're going to get used to it it's like this everywhere and like here is no different apparently I'm going to start doing that today roofing is a great one and all these houses going to have mold in them and they'll be useless so we have to get going on it
-there's some sort of exchange going on between oil companies and these people and it's not us it's other people who think they still own and control the oil and we keep telling them not to do it and it's not true and they believe that there's a problem with it and they keep looking and there isn't and we keep telling them it's these people and it's kind of stupid because. It does nothing and they keep saying it. So we're going to have a meeting in Florida probably at a convention center with oil companies gas companies and people here I'm going to tell them what's going on and construction too as a matter of fact it's a great idea he says it's Thursday you have it tomorrow for both and all over in big places at the same time and then you roll it into a show the next day and you can't do an oil products but you can do it on automobiles and we're going to do that but then roll it over from construction and we're doing construction or even take half the building it's even a better idea so we don't have a low profile and Thursday which is today go to work and we're going to get tons of Intel and we need it
Thor Freya
I have ideas too and I'm putting them in the pipe and keep it quiet but they're like 10 of them and their major ideas and they work one of them is the bus lines they don't run them and they don't do anything and we need them and we need them to run and we need to run now and the airports are abysmal there's like one flight a week so we're going to come in and try and take over the airports and it's these idiots in the way and we also are going to have to ship building elsewhere for the airport and we're moving to take over JetBlue and allegiant and other airlines and Mac isn't and we just simply run the airline but these airports are strategic importance for us we need them opened and we're losing them right now they're deteriorating and security is deteriorating and it's ordering us to send in infiltrated us right now and that's to hold it and we're going to meet and discuss how to take them there's other stuff that we're doing and boats and boat shows and we're holding our own and we're doing a lot of it and hard not kicker 5150 they're selling like madness and he said that we can go to a flea markets and sell the flea market and have a site where we load up a huge amount of them and just tell them to go pick it up and you can pay there and show them a picture of it and tell them where it is and if they don't want to go that's fine but they'll be a ton of people I believe that's a good idea and I'm going to start that too
I have like seven more ideas I'm going to implement one of them is about the beach they keep saying they're going to keep our son here our friend here actually my husband and he is my friend he says but he's not my son he says and I know that you know what I mean and he also stuff going to have to wait on you hand and foot too and someone's growing for a few days LOL okay maybe longer than that but okay so down the beaches they need to clean it up there are several efforts to do it and we want to contribute by helping and offering equipment for them to use and for them to get helping them to get approval and stuff and open up things so they start doing stuff right now they don't have shows they don't even have craft shows and the old people are getting sick and tired and it's really bad and the crafts are okay they're not real big sellers but they sell to tourists and friends and stuff. But really they go to flea markets all the time so we're going to go to some flea markets it's hard not kick her 5150 and with the new chopper and with the existing bobber chopper that's going to open up a big huge thing that's going to be great and big boat shows too out in the middle of the field if we have to and he says this huge parking lots available and there are so we're going to rent them and we're going to do that soon they can haul a huge boats in with big trucks real big big trucks and hopefully we can put them in the water but if not you can leave them on the trailer and people can go up inside while it's on the trailer maybe three people at time it doesn't make a damn difference they say they have to be off the trailer and so we have a way of doing that too this is bring some big equipment down and we're going to do that. House shows he's got a whole bunch of ideas but really the pop-up ideas great having a prefab home there on blocks is a great idea and they actually like it cuz we can make a real sturdy wood floor it's been concrete and like tongue and groove it and they're going to go ahead and do that they can make home show with home in it I'm going to make our own home shows so I'm working on those ideas too I'm almost back up to 10. We put on our own Auto show as what we thought to do but we can sell lots of cars meaning you come down with a bunch of cars in the field and get a permit and just start selling them and the dealers will probably start calling. And we need to educate the dealers so we're going to send sales people down we need to do that today all this needs to start today he says it's going to get a big boost when we do the oil companies in the home show and items today and we talked to him about the discrepancies and that's a great idea so I'm going to write it all up and start it in the pipe and get teams going
Hera
We need this and it's energy and energy and he wants to get the teams going himself but he can't and he wants to help her and he can't he's trying to help her now and she's going to do it and we're going to help her in his stead and it's a great idea these are awesome things to do. And the flea market ideas awesome too we can sell a bunch of stuff there and we'll go to that one that's already set up and but get a boost and ask what it is and ask for the license and a check and we have license for their own company to check with our company and with the state and it's going to check out because we are legitimate. And we're going to go ahead and do it now and they sell just about everything there. And we are also in trouble in one area it's here and his rental agreement is something we're fighting it should be okay we're manning up and we need to man it up a lot more and we know it but there's other things with him that are a big problem. He's being surveilled by everybody they're all watching him for every single stupid mistake every dumb thing he's doing everything that could be illegal and we don't like it and we have to see what it is he's mentioned it quite a bit they're watching me so close but the same stuff that is very mean and very odd and stupid and doesn't mean anything but they want to try and extort something maybe so we have to go after it a lot harder and we need to do that today starting now and we need to infiltrate in order to do it and there's reasons to infiltrate and they're very very poignant they keep sending orders out against ours so I'm sending orders for us to go after those people and to infiltrate and stay and he wants bases built stat big ones we have plans to do it we're building other stuff top side another areas but he wants to hire more and get Cruise here now and they can cycle out and we'll just keep doing that and we're doing that elsewhere but here we need troops now and we need people to build the base now and he's asking why we can't use existing bunkers and just move them and say it's kind of hard to get them in there and it says cut them up and glue them together and it'll be a block analogy. We're going ahead and doing that 60s or 20x20 so they said you make them 20x20x20 three of them and we're moving on it now doesn't take as much effort to cut them so we're going to prep them and we're going to remove them and we're going to cut them and take them down tonight and we're going to have probably about 50 20s
Thor Freya
The last idea was killer and we heard you thinking it for quite some time and we're wondering why we didn't do it and I thought it was you but it's not what you're saying is any idea like that would be welcome and we have several other areas we can use and we're going to go ahead with it

The process for obtaining an IDP varies depending on where you live. Why transportation is important in Australia
Tumblr media
Australia is a multicultural and diverse country that is home to residents of different origins. The country is a conducive one that is safe and welcomes visitors. Perhaps this is the reason why many tourists visit Australia annually. Not only that, Australia has an impeccable educational history and provides students with the best educational facilities. No wonder, international students flock to Australia to pursue further studies.
In addition, Australia has highly developed facilities to make life easy for people living in Australia. Such facilities include recreational facilities, transport facilities, healthcare centres, and so on.
This article will touch on the transportation facilities available in Australia, as there are many types of the transport system in Australia. Similarly, the transportation business in Australia is divided into two categories; private and public-owned transport systems. An example of a private transport firm is Four Mile Transport. Four Mile Transport is an Australian transport company located in Victoria, Australia.
Why transportation is important in Australia
Transportation is very important to Australian residents because it allows them to move from place to place. It is most especially important to the working class who need to go to work and students who need to go to school. Transportation is also essential for healthcare workers who need to transport patients to the hospital during emergency purposes. So you can see how important it is to have a working transport system in Australia.
Therefore, if you live in Australia, you won't have a problem when you want to move around. But first, you need to know the various transport systems present in Australia.
The Australian transport system
Australia is a developed country that has many different types of transport systems. This includes water transport, land transport, rail transport, and air transport.
Land transport
Under the land transport category, we have cars, bicycles, buses, taxis, and many more.
Rail transport
The rail system in Australia is of two types; the train and the subway systems. These systems are connected to all regions and places in Australia. Australia has a very large railway that spans thousands of kilometres of tracks. Rail transport is very convenient and accessible to all Australian residents. There are also privately owned rail lines as well as government-owned rail lines.
Taxis
Taxis are more personalized, convenient, and expensive than buses. They can also travel longer distances than the normal bus. To get a taxi, simply flag down one by the roadside or order a taxi ride online. The beauty of using a taxi is that it is faster than buses, and it doesn't carry many passengers. Therefore, you don't have to squeeze inside a limited space with strangers. You can also share rides with one or two passengers. Shared rides are even cheaper than a single-passenger taxi.
Bicycle
Bicycles are an alternative means of transport for those who want cheap means of transport. This is an ideal mode of transport for international students. Normally, most foreign students spend a huge amount of money annually on transportation like buses and taxis. But in Australia, one of the cheapest modes of transport is the bicycle. This is why international students prefer to ride bicycles from one place to another.
As a student, you can rent a bicycle or buy one for yourself. To rent a bicycle, you can order one online and even share it with a friend. You should however note that you must have the recommended protective gear on if you want to ride a bicycle. Also, you must follow the traffic rules and lock your bicycle to prevent theft.
Bus transportation
Taking a bus in Australia is as normal as eating because a bus is a cheap mode of transportation. It doesn't cost as much as taking a taxi, water transport, or plane. Hence, many international students have smart bus cards they can reuse when they go out. Some places in Australia also allow the direct purchase of bus tickets.
Furthermore, buses follow certain routes and use these rules to take passengers to their destinations. But for those who want to travel a long distance, there is a coach bus for that.
Coach buses are specially designed to accommodate people on long-distance travel. They have amenities like restrooms, entertainment, charging points, WiFi, and so on.
To book a coach bus, go to Google to check the various transport companies that offer these services.
Air transport
Under the air transport category, we have aeroplanes, helicopters, jets, and so on. Air transportation is one of the most expensive and fastest forms of transport and travels very long distances. In fact, it can travel from one country to another and from continent to continent and saves time.
Air travel is also divided into local and international flights, where local flights are within Australian cities. And international flights are from Australia to other countries or other countries to Australia.
Conclusion
Lastly, all transport systems in Australia are monitored with round-the-clock surveillance to protect passengers and drivers. Additionally, the transport facilities are well-maintained and hygienic. Even privately owned transports like the Foure Mile Transport strictly follow transport protocols and rules.

6. Ice Skating
Fandom: Stray Kids
Sickie: Felix
Caregiver: Stray Kids
 Felix POV.:
Stray Kids were shooting some seasonal footage to add to our christmas album Package. Having lived in Australia for most of my life, I wasn't familiar with wintersports and was really excited for today. That is because today our group will go ice skating. Sure, I was a bit nervous too but it can't be too different from rollerblading. At least that’s what I hoped because I really didn’t want to make a fool out of myself. The company had rented an entire ice rink for our shooting today, so we’d have lots of space. When I had admitted last night that I have never stood on blades before, my members got really excited and wanted to teach me, so let’s see how this will go.
When we arrived at the rink, wrapped warmly in thick jackets, everyone was bouncing happily. There was a small locker-room, where we changed our shoes to ice skates and put on thick gloves to both keep us warm and to protect our hands. Minho and Jisung had finished lacing their skates first and were already on the ice racing each other. Hyunjin soon joining them, all of the yelling loudly while tagging each other. I wasn’t sure whether I had laced my skates either too tight or too loose, the feeling foreign around my ankles. I was the last to waddle up to the barrier, the others were all already on the ice. When they saw me, Chan and Jeongin skated over to me, stopping at the barrier. Both wore bright smiles, clearly enjoying themselves. Being a bit anxious, I grabbed the barrier with shaky hands before placing the first skate onto the ice. It was nothing like expected, the surface being more slippery than rollerblades on pavement. Chan laughed at my shocked expression and I stepped onto the ice fully. Clutching the barrier, I was fighting to keep my balance with Jeongin holding me by my arm. How could they all move around here seemingly so natural?
A few minutes later, I was skating between Chan and Jeongin, our arms linked, so they could keep me from falling. I felt like a young fawn, not in control of my own legs, while my friends steadied me. We slowly circled the others till Chan was confident I had found my ice-legs, so I tried taking a few wobbly strides myself with the others lingering around closely. Seeing me getting steadier with each stride I took the others relaxed Chan giving me some space to practice for myself while cheering me on. I looked over my shoulder grinning back at him proudly, yeah that was too early, as a second later I slipped, crashing to the ground ungracefully. “I’m fine, I’m fine”, I exclaimed loudly, laughing while struggling back to my feet only to fall again. By now everyone was laughing along with me and Changbin and Chan pulled me back up, steadying me till I had my balance back. While Chan went off to race Jisung for making a teasing comment, Changbin held onto my waist, pushing me in a wide circle around the rink. When I felt confident in my legs enough, I took one of his gloved hands off my waist, pulling him next to me so we could continue side by side.
The more time passed, the steadier I got and though I kept slipping and falling often, especially in the beginning, I always laughed it off. After a while, my jeans were pretty soaked but being physically active, I didn’t feel cold. None of us did and we soon took our jackets off to skate in the sweatshirts we wore underneath them. I didn’t expect there’d be a difference but it was much easier to skate without a jacket, simply because there was nothing constricting my movement anymore. Feeling confident, I tagged Changbin before skating away. He followed me, always keeping a small distance between us. I knew he could go faster because I had seen him chase Minho earlier but he made it seem like I had an honest chance of getting away. While we sped past Seungmin, Changbin tapped his shoulder instead and we were suddenly both fleeing from the younger. Soon the entire group was caught up in the game and I realized how much fun ice skating actually is. I could now fully understand why everyone else got so excited when it was announced yesterday.
My mistake may have been being overly confident because I was just skating at a very high speed when I slipped. All I could do to keep from kissing the ice was to bring my hands up in front of me. A sharp pain shooting through my right wrist upon impact. Hyunjin who was closest to me breaking into giggles since the last dozen times I fell I had laughed too. He stopped immediately though when he noticed the tears that had shot to my eyes. Cursing he sped over kneeling next to me. I was hugging my arm close to my chest, the pain not easing in the slightest. From my position he figured where I has hurt and with the help of Chan, they pulled me up by the armpits, supporting me so I wouldn’t fall again. “Hey, you’re ok. We’ll get you off the ice and then we’ll check your hand, ok?”, Chan tried to calm me down and I nodded, sobbing quietly in pain while they carefully pushed me to the opening in the barrier. Everyone else had stopped dead in their tracks, skating up to the barrier when I had exited and watched concerned as Chan sat me down on a bench nearby. Looking at my hand was easier said than done since every time he tugged at my glove, no matter how gently, I cried out in pain. I bit my lip so hard I almost drew blood till we finally had the glove off. It didn’t look too bad. My wrist was slightly swollen but looked fine otherwise. I slowly calmed down, despite my wrist still hurting badly. Hyunjin picked up my jacket, laying it across my shoulders so I wouldn’t catch a cold from sitting in the cold temperature with soaking wet clothes. I thanked him, drying my eyes with my left hand, allowing my right hand to just lay in my lap uselessly.
Chan decided to sit out with me for a while asking the others to just continue without us, so we’d have enough video footage. I couldn’t move my wristed at all and having stopped moving around, I had started to feel really cold, despite the jacket around my shoulders. One of the staff members came over, handing me a plastic cup filled with hot tea from a thermos they had taken along. I thanked them, holding onto the warm cup with my left hand, allowing it to warm my fingers before tanking a small sip to warm me from the inside too. Shaking I leaned into Chan’s side, looking down onto my hands, noticing how large blueish bruises were appearing on my right wrist. “Lix, I know you don’t really like hospitals but I think your wrist should get looked at”, he said calmly, wrapping one arm around my shoulders as I tensed. He was right, I hated hospitals. “It’s ok, relax. They’ll only look at it, probably take x-rays to see what’s wrong. Nothing bad”, he shushed me. “Hyung, please no. Please don’t make me go to hospital”, I whimpered, ignoring how Chan made eye-contact with one of our managers who stood close-by, watching but giving us some space for me to calm down. He came over, crouching in front of the bench: “Felix-ah, your hyung is right. A doctor should look at this. You want it to stop hurting, don’t you?” Yeah, I wanted it to stop hurting but I didn’t want to go to hospital. We were pretty close to our managers and I trusted him, I trusted Chan-hyung even more and I knew they were probably right but I really didn’t want to go. “Lixxie, listen, they aren’t going to keep you. You’ll be back home with us in a few hours and the pain will be a lot better, if not gone completely by then”, Chan encouraged me. After promising we’d all have hot chocolate when I came home I agreed to let our manager take me to the hospital, although I was upset that Chan couldn’t come with me. He had to continue shooting with the others so the footage could be edited to cover up that I was only there for half of the time.
~time skip~
My visit at the hospital had taken hours and it was already dark outside when our manager guided me to the car waiting for us in the parking lot. Yes, I had hated being there but no, I guess looking back now, there wasn’t really a reason to be afraid. The x-rays had shown a fracture in my wrist and my arm was put in a cast from my elbow to the start of my fingers. All the waiting had tired me out and I was hungry, as not to say starving, because I had missed lunch. I hoped the others would have dinner ready when I came back but I couldn’t text them because I had yet to practice how to use my phone with my dominant hand in a cast.
I was dropped off at the dorm and knocked on the door. It opened not soon after revealing a squealing Hyunjin who quickly pulled me into a tight hug. “Guys, we have our sunshine back. The doctors didn’t eat him”, he yelled happily closing the door behind he. I couldn’t help but giggle at the excited welcome I received. The others were to follow suit, hugging me and I looked up at Chan who was standing a bit back, smiling and waiting for the others to finally let go of me before wrapping me in a comforting hug himself. The manager had already texted and informed him about the x-ray results so he wasn’t too fazed by my cast. “No, the doctors didn’t eat me but talking of eating, I’m starving”, I chuckled. “What about dinner first, then hot chocolate and a movie? Who’s in?”, Chan asked, remembering the promise he made earlier. There were sounds of approval and Minho and Seungmin went to the kitchen first to start getting dinner ready. “Oh, Felix, can I draw something on your cast later?”, Jisung gave me puppy eyes and I laughed. “Could all of you draw something? Doesn’t have to be big”, I asked looking up hopefully at my group gathering around the table. “Sure thing, Lix”, Chan chuckled and the others agreed.
For dinner we had fried dumplings, basically leftover dumplings from yesterday fried. Sitting down at the table I noticed a problem that I hadn’t thought about till now. My dominant hand was in a cast. Sighing I tried to grab the chopsticks with my left hand but before I could even make a move to pick up a dumpling, they fell, clattering onto my plate. I blushed before picking them up and laying them next to my plate. There was no way I could use them. I just wanted to get up to retrieve a fork from the kitchen when a dumpling appeared right in front of my face. I stared at it stunned. “Lix, it’s not an ufo, open up!”, Changbin who sat next to me laughed. I blushed even harder, opening my mouth and allowing him to feed me. If I hadn’t been embarrassed before, the squeals from the other side of the table made me hide my face behind my arms. I only dared to look back up after I had swallowed and gave Changbin a grateful smile. He winked at me before putting a dumpling in to his own mouth and I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning away from Changbin, I looked to my other side and at the maknae’s cute face. He had picked up one of the dumplings from my plate holding it up to my lips with his chopsticks. I grinned at him happily before taking it.
That’s how we continued eating, Changbin and Jeongin taking turns feeding me and themselves. There were occasional coos from the other members and I was about 90 percent certain there were also some pictures taken but I didn’t really care. I was hungry and letting my friends feed me was certainly easier than struggling with whatever cutlery I chose. Besides, I found it cute too, how they cared for me.
When the table was cleared, it was Hyunjin’s and Jeongin’s turn to watch the dishes and they complied with Chan next to them, preparing some hot chocolate for everyone. Jisung had immediately run off to his room to grab some markers, while I tapped Changbin’s arm. “H-Hyung, this is embarrassing but I’m still wearing my dirty clothes from skating earlier and I-I don’t think I can change that easily”, I mumbled staring at the ground, my face heating up. He had the decency to not laugh at me, seeing that I was really uncomfortable, having to ask for help with this. Instead he just guided me back to my room where I found a small reindeer plushie sitting on my bed and let me pick out what I wanted to wear. I chose sweatpants and gave him puppy eyes to let me borrow one of his hoodies. It wasn’t even much help I needed, he just had to pull the hoodie over my cast and pull it into the right position because it was hanging a bit to one side. The plushie was a get-better-soon gift my members had picked up on their way home to cheer me up and I carried it around me for the rest of the evening.
Jisung was already waiting for us in the living room, colored markers laid out on the coffee table. I sat down next to him holding out my arm for him to start drawing. He drew a cute squirrel in a Christmas hat holding an acorn onto the back of my hand, signing next to it. Afterwards the others all took turns drawing something and writing their name next to it. Hyunjin had turned on a Christmas playlist letting the music play softly in the background till everyone was done and we could settle down for a movie. Minho drew a Christmas tree, Changbin a red ornament, Hyunjin a snowman, Seungmin drew some snowflakes and Jeongin drew a reindeer face with a bright red nose. When Chan called that the hot chocolate was ready, they set us up in the living room, turning off the music and starting the movie The Polar Express instead. Having seen the movie a dozen times, Chan didn’t pay it much attention but rather picked up a marker and gently took my arm into his hand. I didn’t pay attention to the movie either, studying his face as he focused on what he was drawing. Looking down when he was done, I found an adorable little penguin holding a heart, smiling at him before cuddling into my hyungs side. He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and we went back to watching the movie, sipping our hot chocolate and enjoying some quiet time with all members.

What Are The Advantages Of An International Driver’s License?
An international driver's license is required to rent or operate an automobile in a foreign country and allows you to move freely. The police would be unable to prevent anyone from entering the city and driving a vehicle if they had a properly translated license card. As a result, this is a vital document that permits drivers to travel to another country. It's a document that translates basic driving phrases into several languages, making it easier for the driver to interact with authorities. An international driver's license in Australia or other countries; is a document that identifies motorists as legally licensed drivers in the country to which they seek to travel.
Tumblr media
Some of the advantages of holding an international driver's license are as follows:
·         In many countries, an international driver's license acts as evidence of identification.
·         The International Driving License serves as a person's verification driver's license in their home country, which is legitimate. It also verifies if he or she is licensed to drive in another country.
·         The fact that the International Driving Licence is printed in many languages makes it highly beneficial for other countries' authorities to check the details of the holders. The IDL is available in English, Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, Scandinavian languages, and other languages.
·         Individuals can use an International Driver’s License in Australia or other countries to hire a car and drive in another country.
You must be 18 years old or older to obtain an overseas driving permit. A domestic driver's license is also required, and it must be current for at least six months after the international permit is issued. An overseas driving permit is valid for one year from the date of issuing. It's worth mentioning that if the applicant doesn't have a passport and a driver's license, he won't be able to apply for an international driving license in Australia or elsewhere.

3 questions to answer before you a rent a car in Cancun
Without a vehicle, you'll be limited to overrated, fundamental bundle visits with crowds of individuals.
Follow this guide on how to go about the Cancun car rental process and other places in the Yucatan Peninsula for the best outing to Mexico of your life. Try not to stress it's simple and safe – and here's the means by which to do it and maintain a strategic distance from the tricks and bother.
IS Cancun car rental SAFE? This more depends on your driving ability more than anything else. The primary inquiry everybody consistently has about leasing a vehicle in Cancun 'Is it safe?'. To lease a vehicle to drive around the traveler goals in Cancun and the Yucatan is protected.
Tumblr media
At whatever point we recommend leasing a vehicle, there is consistently somebody on Facebook asserting 'you will get abducted by the cartel' or something insane, these are the ignorant individuals that you have to unfriend. This is simply not a thing! Except if you are including yourself in criminal operations, the odds of something like this incident are simply silly.
IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE IN CANCUN & THE YUCATAN? Driving in a foreign country can be overwhelming, yet in Mexico, we discover it not very troublesome. Inside urban communities like Playa del Carmen and other bigger urban communities the traffic can be somewhat occupied, however outside the urban communities, there are surprisingly few cars on the road. Cancun car rental process is smooth if you can handle driving.
Tumblr media
The street signs will be all in Spanish, in any case, with even a smidgen of Spanish information they are entirely simple to make sense of. Speed limits are regularly checked and street signage is commonly simple to follow, in any case, it's a smart thought to utilize GPS or Google Maps if you have cell service, or load them while you are on wifi. You can also hire a driver from the same Cancun car rental company.
WHAT SIDE OF THE ROAD DO THEY DRIVE ON IN MEXICO? In Mexico, they drive on the right side of the road and the directing wheel is on the left half of the vehicle, much the same as it is in the USA and parts of Europe. This would be something contrary to the United Kingdom or Australia. If you are interested in best Cancun car rental services, visit us today at https://easywayrentacar.com/.

U.S. economy deteriorating faster than anticipated as 80 million Americans are forced to stay at home (Washington Post) The U.S. economy is deteriorating more quickly than was expected just days ago as extraordinary measures designed to curb the coronavirus keep 84 million Americans penned in their homes and cause the near-total shutdown of most businesses. The resulting economic meltdown, which is sending several million workers streaming into the unemployment line, is outpacing the federal government’s efforts to respond. With each day, an unprecedented stoppage gathers force as restaurants, movie theaters, sports arenas and offices close to shield themselves from the disease.
Dramatic slowdown in growth predicted (Wall Street Journal) Analysts now project U.S. growth could shrink at rates far worse than the 2008 global recession, ending weeks of cautious optimism about the economy’s ability to withstand the fallout from the coronavirus. Analysts at Goldman Sachs yesterday said they expect U.S. growth to contract 24% in the second quarter, a rate nearly five times as large as the bank’s previous forecast of a 5% decline. Goldman said a decrease of that magnitude would far outpace the largest quarterly drop in gross domestic product on record--during the first quarter of the 1958 recession, when the U.S. economy contracted 10%. “The sudden stop in U.S. economic activity in response to the virus is unprecedented, and the early data points over the last week strengthen our confidence that a dramatic slowdown is indeed already underway,” the bank said in its report.
Italy virus cases soar again; NY eyes temporary hospitals (AP) The coronavirus pandemic took an increasingly bleak toll Saturday in the U.S. and Europe, producing staggering caseloads in New York and Italy and setting off a desperate scramble to set up thousands of additional hospital beds at convention centers and college campuses. Italy, at the heart of western Europe’s rampaging outbreak, announced 793 new deaths and 6,557 new cases. In New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said state officials were scouring the globe for desperately needed medical supplies as confirmed coronavirus cases soared above 10,000 statewide. The state is reviewing four possible locations for temporary hospitals, which would be operated by the Army Corps of Engineers.
As virus grips nation, advocates move to halt evictions (AP) On Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced a proposed $1.5 trillion package that he said includes “immediate relief to renters and homeowners” by suspending evictions and foreclosures for 60 days. But, it turns out, the vast majority of renters will not be covered by the protections. That’s because the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s plan only covers single-family homes with loans through the Federal Housing Administration--roughly 8 million homeowners, most of whom are not under foreclosure, according to HUD. That compares to the roughly 43 million households who rented in 2019, according to the U.S. Census. Roughly half rent their home from an individual investor, while the other half rent from a business or multi-unit property owner. The ones renting from a business will not receive any protections, according to HUD’s proposal. While housing advocates praised the Trump administration package as an “important first step,” they said that by excluding renters, an often economically vulnerable population, it does not go nearly far enough.
The drive-in, relic of yesterday, finds itself suited to now (AP) The drive-in theater, long a dwindling nostalgia act in a multiplex world, is experiencing a momentary return to prominence. With nearly all of the nation’s movie theaters shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic, some drive-in owners think they’re in a unique position to give moviegoers a chance to do something out of the house while keeping distance from others. This weekend, some drive-ins aren’t the only show in town. They’re the only show in the country.
Guatemala orders eight-day curfew to fight coronavirus (Reuters) Guatemala’s President Alejandro Giammattei on Saturday ordered an eight-day curfew starting Sunday as part of measures aimed at containing the coronavirus, which has infected 17 people in the Central American nation.
Brazil’s densely packed favelas brace for coronavirus (Washington Post) In Liberia, the 2014 outbreak of Ebola was fueled by conditions in the slums of Monrovia. In India, influenza propagates more rapidly in the poorest neighborhoods, which then feed back into the city at large. And in Brazil, even the mosquito-borne disease of Zika was far more concentrated in the favelas of the north, around the city of Recife. Now in the global war against the coronavirus, analysts believe some of the most important battles will be fought in the poorest parts of the developing world, with far fewer tools and far less capacity for isolation than higher-income countries. “The strategy being pushed in the United States and China and Korea, there is no strategy for that there,” said Madhav Marathe, a division director of the University of Virginia’s Biocomplexity Institute. “Once a disease enters a slum, it’s very hard to do social distancing. Once it’s in slum, it’s very hard to protect them.”
Much of Europe is now on lockdown. But can authorities actually enforce those rules? (Washington Post) In a time when Europeans and Americans have been told to practice “social distancing” and to remain at home, people were still out and about in France and across Europe. They were shopping in proximity at bustling market stalls, running in large numbers down public promenades and, in some cases, scoffing at various government restrictions designed to keep them safe. Over the past week, a number of European governments have urged their citizens to take coronavirus seriously by imposing strict limits on movement outside the home. The question now is how governments can actually enforce those rules, with so many people seemingly willing to break them.
China, on virus PR offensive, sends masks and experts abroad (AP) As the fight against a new virus shifts to Europe and beyond, China is supplying millions of masks and other desperately needed items to struggling governments, hoping to build political ties and defuse criticism that it allowed the disease to spread early on. Serbia’s president plans to be at the airport this weekend to welcome a shipment of medical supplies from his “brother and friend,” Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Xi’s government has flown gloves and protective clothing to Liberia. It is sending 100,000 test kits to the Philippines. More than 10 flights carrying millions of masks and other supplies are bound for the Czech Republic this week. It’s part of an effort by the Communist Party to reshape the narrative, from one of early missteps to a nation that acted decisively to bring the outbreak under control. China is touting its deliveries of ventilators and masks overseas and dispatching its medical experts to share the lessons of its success.
Australia’s Bondi Beach closed after crowds defy coronavirus rules (Reuters) Australian officials closed Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach on Saturday after thousands of people flocked there in recent days, defying social distancing orders to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, amid an unusually warm autumn spell.
Israeli leader offers to step down next year in unity deal (AP) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he is ready to step down next year as part of a proposed power-sharing agreement with his chief rival meant to steer the country through the coronavirus crisis and end a year-long political deadlock.
Thousands of Americans stranded abroad as money, patience run out (Washington Post) Daniel Rico was relaxing in his pajamas in a hotel room after a day biking through Peru’s Sacred Valley when his phone rang. The Peruvian president was about to make an announcement related to the coronavirus pandemic, his tour guide said. Rico went online and saw that Peru’s borders would close in roughly 24 hours.
Minutes later, the 33-year-old financial analyst from New Jersey and a handful of other foreigners were being driven hastily in the dark along winding Incan roads. But when Rico arrived at the Cusco airport at 2 a.m. Monday morning, he found thousands of other travelers clamoring to leave and no available tickets. Skirmishes broke out as people pushed to the front of the line, he said.
Rico and nine other Americans are now stuck in a hotel in downtown Cusco, where a 15-day quarantine is enforced by soldiers with face masks and rifles. A police officer recently shoved Rico against a wall, he said, and threatened to arrest him for going out to buy groceries.
“Things are getting bad here,” said Rico, whose wife is worriedly waiting for him at home. “Fly me to Texas or Louisiana. Drop me in Wyoming, and I’ll rent a car. But we need to get out of this country.”
From Cusco to Casablanca to Cape Town, thousands of Americans like Rico are currently stuck overseas as the rapidly expanding pandemic has caused a cascade of countries to close their borders.
As their money, medications and patience runs out, Americans have watched in mounting frustration as other countries have quickly evacuated their citizens. Feeling abandoned by their government, thousands have turned to social media for help and solace, joining online groups with names like “Americans Stuck in Peru,” “American Citizens Stranded In Guatemala” and “Stay Strong, Quarantine On.”
Their sense of panic deepened on Thursday when the State Department announced American citizens overseas should return to the United States immediately “unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period.”
The announcement, coupled with the initial lack of a plan to help Americans come home, has drawn criticism from lawmakers whose inboxes are filling with emails from furious constituents trapped overseas.
“This is a source of great frustration,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) told The Washington Post. “This administration has made a mess of this by failing to take the necessary actions. We’ve been working for weeks to try to get these Americans who are stranded abroad a way to get home. We’ve watched as other countries have chartered airlines to get their citizens out.”

Paris
Tumblr media
We did not intend to come to Paris. We had planned ot head to Venice, but the coronavirus outbreak in northern Italy was kicking off and it seemed stupid to charge into the middle of it. Instead, we re-routed to Paris with no real plans for what we were going to do for the next month.
We took the Eurostar high speed train from London to Paris: there was wifi, cushy chairs, and some catered snacks we purchased from Marks & Spencers. The dining in London was meh, but their store-bought snacks blow Australia out of the water. Down with the Coles / Woolworths duopoly!
We arrived into Paris around 9pm and walked from the train station to our hotel. This may displease some of the parents reading this missive, but Matt and I did not check Smart Traveller before booking to go to Paris. It turns out that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade considers France quite dangerous! The whole country has been slapped with an "Exercise a high degree of caution” warning, and this isn’t because of the coronavirus, this is down to the amount of violent crime tourists are likely to encounter (armed robberies on trains, car theft, etc.) and the riots. Oh and the likelihood of terrorist attacks. We certainly noticed in France that the cops were heavily armed: we saw a police officer cradling a machine gun during a friendly exchange with a citizen to give directions.
On our Sunday night walk from the train station to our hotel, the streets were mostly empty. We passed a number of sex shops, massage parlours with red lights, groups of men standing around apparently doing nothing, sex workers, and suspicious men selling cigarettes on street corners. We were on high alert for pick-pockets and the violent crimes which Smart Traveller had warned us about: with our enormous backpacks we were effectively wearing neon signs saying ‘We are tourists! Please rob us!’. Despite our fears we made it to the hotel safely. The hotel was a last-minute booking as part of our rescheduling to avoid Italy so we didn’t have many options when booking online: I think it would be safe to say that our hotel was one of the worst in Paris. We were given tokens to access the shared shower down the hallway from our room: for our three night stay we were given four tokens, effectively rationing our showers for the stay. (Again, parents reading this may be troubled to learn that we only ended up using three of the four tokens – the person who only showered once has a name beginning with ‘M’ and ending with ‘atthew’.)
Another charming feature of the hotel was the low ceilings, roughly only two meters in height:

For our first day in Paris, it rained all day.
Tumblr media
To stay out of the rain, we picked a couple of indoor activities: a visit to the Musee de Cluny (famous for its Lady and Unicorn tapestries and various other medieval art) and a visit to the Pantheon. After paying to get in, we realised that the Lady and Unicorn tapestries section of the museum was closed. Disappointingly, a promising section of the museum called ‘Treasures’ was also closed – I must confess, Matt and I did inadvertently go into the Treasures section and stole a fleeting glance at a magnificent tapestry before a strict Frenchman told us (in French so this may not be an exact translation) “Can’t you see this section of the museum is closed? No treasures for you! Get the hell out!”. Utimately we only got to see some old rocks and a bath. Overall rating for Musee de Cluny is 1/5. Matt observed that it should really be called the “Musee de Close-y”.
Next we trudged uphill through heavy rain to the Pantheon. Matt had expressed his indifference towards visiting churches, but I thought Foucault’s pendulum (housed in the church) might be of interest to him. Turns out, the Pantheon has many great qualities: it’s an amazing sandstone church built in the 1700s. During the Enlightenment, the church became a sort of secular shrine to the great figures of France including writers, politicians, scientists, etc. In addition to looking through the church (which included a huge dome, Foucault’s pendulum and some cool paintings of Joan of Arc) we got to explore the crypt which was much more pleasant and well-lit than you might expect a crypt to be.

Contrary to popular opinion, we did not find the waiters of Paris to be particularly snooty (maybe this is because we are residents of Fitzroy, which is home to many snooty waiters – mostly with fluoro hair and ripped jeans) but we did notice that they would greet us assuming we were French with a ‘Bonjour!’ or ‘Bonsoir!’ and when we would respond in attempted French they lose a little of their joie de vivre and would immediately switch to English. This was obviously intended as a kindness and did make things easier for ordering and finding a table, but meant we were robbed of the chance to practice our French. This also suggests that our pronunciation of ‘Bonjour’ is so poor that we cannot even pass for particularly uncultured or stupid Frenchmen.
Tumblr media
To get around we tried renting electric scooters and bikes via Uber, with mixed results: there was terror, joy, and some frustration with Uber’s capricious parking rules.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the super-interested, here are some other things we got up to in Paris:
Montmarte: We rode our electric bikes to Montmatre, an area famous for Sacre Coeur, an old church with a fantastic view, and the Moulin Rouge. The ride was mostly uphill, but on the electric bicycle was quite easy.
Wine tasting: We also did a wine tasting via Airbnb. Key takeaway: Chardonnay in France is not aged in oak barrels, meaning it doesn’t have that strong oaky taste (which I often find to be kind of cloying). Matt and I never really liked the taste of Australian chardonnay, so this was probably because of the barrel flavour. We also learned about tannins (broken down grape skins which appear in red wines) and about how rose is made (red grapes, but the skin is taken out sooner!)
Catacombs: There are old mines under Paris, which were the source of the sandstone used to build many of the city’s great buildings. These were later filled with bones after the central cemeteries were filled. We both regretted visiting the catacombs as it was very somber and confronting: millions of bones, hundreds of years old, piled on top of each other in a network of disused mines. Who enjoys this stuff?? We both felt sad and flat after the Catacombs, but then stopped for a hot chocolate and apple pastry which improved the mood. Afterwards we agreed to not visit any more mass graves.
Champs Elysées: We walked past the Louvre and gardens, Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe – a lovely area. We stopped for crepes and paid 1.5 euro (~$2.50 in Australian dollars) to use a public bathroom.
We also spent some time watching street hustlers. In the photo below, just below the Eiffel Tower you’ll see a ring of people in black.
Tumblr media
We watched them for half an hour or so. They stand together all day pretending to play a three-shell game, betting 100 euro a pop. The idea with the game is that the dealer hides a ball under one cup, then quickly shuffles all three cups to ‘hide’ the ball - the person who paid to play can then pick the cup which they think holds the ball. If they are right, they get 200 euro; if they are wrong they lose the lot. We inferred the people dressed in black are working with the dealer, spending all day pretending to play. They win some, they lose some, they clap and say “bravo!”. The idea is to make it look like riotous good fun for people passing by so that they might be tempted to play. They’re essentially just shuffing money around within their group. A key part of the scam is that after each shuffle one of the group picks a cup which, if you’ve been paying attention to the shuffle, clearly does not hold the ball - the incorrect guess is jeered at by the group and then someone else guesses correctly to much cheering. This makes the game look easy, and probably fools observers into thinking they’re especially good at the shell game because they can find the ball every time. I can only assume that when someone is playing the game for real, the shuffle is much faster and tricker to follow.
After watching for a while, we saw a middle-aged tourist approach the group, watch from the side for a while, and then scurry away to pull cash out of his money belt. His friend tried to talk him out of it. He played anyway. We watched him lose. His friend walked off in disgust. He lost again. He walked off to find his friend. The shell game people packed up after that. I assume they also pick your pockets when they can.
There were a few more tourist-scams going around, but we didn’t have any trouble. We don’t know why these three golden retreivers were standing sentinel outside the subway...
Tumblr media
... but we can only assume it was a part of some kind of elaborate hoax.
Tumblr media
Matt and I are now in Chamonix, a ski town in the French alps. He is practicing the ukulele and I am writing this. We’re staying in an Airbnb - our hosts are have at least three cats (two of whom have deigned to let me pat them) and we were warned that if we hear a noise like someone tapping on the window during the night it is just the local deer inadvertently banging their horns on the window while they try to eat whatever bits of grass near the house aren’t under snow.
