I was rewatching the teaser for episode 11 and the first time I watched, I assumed Tracker was the werewolf raging (She's in Fallinel, some of the other scenes in the teaser seemed to allude to her being there), but upon the second watch, it dawned on me that what if Jawbone is the one who's going to rage? Brennan made a point to include Jawbone being insistent on coming despite Sandra Lynn seeming reluctant, so what if he's going to be infected by the rage stuff and go fully feral on the bad kids?

It’s really interesting to me how elusive Kipperlily Copperkettle has been throughout what is now the first half of the season.
She’s the closest thing we have to an identifiable Big Bad. She gets established in episode 3 to be constantly vigilant, capable of eavesdropping on anything and everything.
And then she’s physically MIA (iirc) for seven episodes, barring her scene with the food trucks at the start of episode 7. I think she’s said to be present at the assembly this most recent episode (ep 10) but she doesn’t appear to be an active participant in anything. That inaction is eating away at me… bc I know she’s doing something.
Talk about haunting a narrative… I’m constantly aware of her nonexistence. I’m paranoid. With every episode that we don’t hear from or interact with KLCK, she grows more terrifying to me. Brennan made sure to establish right away that she could be listening at literally any point. Riz tried to keep that at the forefront of his mind initially, but even he let that idea fall to the wayside as stress built up and time passed.
I think we’ve settled into a false sense of security in this respect. I think that at any point Brennan can and will drop a KLCK bomb on us and oh boy it’s gonna be deliciously messy.

There is something so deep about Laerryn's choice in the finale, and Brennan's phrasing of the decision to be made.
To clarify, this scene (copied and pasted from the CR wiki transcripts):
BRENNAN: On a 16, you must make a tough decision. Do you want to further limit the release of energy and make the release of energy safer for the physical environs of Avalir and Cathmoíra, or do you want to ensure that Rau'shan and Ka'Mort will be permanently banished from Exandria?
TRAVIS: Impossible.
AABRIA: Laerryn's little joke to herself was always that the Heart of Avalir was the thing she inherited, but it was too small. She made it bigger, she improved it. She improved the Etheric Net and built this and that she was the Heart of Avalir, and she gave everything to this city. But I know what people are fighting to protect and I remember what Quay said about going down with the ship. So we will ensure it. This will work. Avalir be damned.
or this timestamp of the episode (in case the link doesn't work for the timestamp, the first comment's list has it labelled Laerryn's Tough Decision):
youtube
As we were first introduced to her, Laerryn Coramar-Seelie is the Architect Arcane. As Aabria herself even put, her whole life, all her work, is about taking the city and making it better. Building more. Expansion is the name of the game. So when Brennan specifies that the limiting of energy output will save the physical environs rather than the people, that holds weight.
Just, in a mechanics aspect, there is the fact she is an Abjurer. The whole point of her magic is exactly this choice. To stop things from being destroyed. Her wards that take the damage so that she or others will not. She is not built to bring destruction, leave the fight to others. She will be there to soften the blows that come her allies' ways. She is the one one deciding this, and it feels right, because she's spent her studies dedicated to figuring out how she will prevent the destruction that comes her way.
But that isn't all.
Because any other hero, any other party member, every other soul faced with this question could so easily think that it is a useless decision. A city can be rebuilt, but only if the Betrayer Gods are stopped before they kill all the people that can do so.
But Laerryn, who has dedicated her years to this, the position of Architect Arcane, knows this city and her structures far more intimately. She has been there, step by step, as she forged them. Designed them. Watched over their construction. It is by her hand it was built.
Asking her, specifically, is asking her to choose between everything she's done, or let it all burn. Asking her to make this decision is asking her to decide her legacy. Will she live on as the maker of the land that survived such devastation, but not the people, or will she go down as the one who helped stop the Calamity?
Her choice boiled down to this: Limiting the energy, their work, the libraries and churches, the colleges, grand towers and hallowed halls, stone and mortar, it all can go on unshattered. Or, stopping the Betrayers, the people may continue on.
Was her work more important than the lives she was surrounded by?
Aabria mentions Laerryn was given the Heart of Avalir, jokes how she improved it. But the Heart of Avalir, while magical, is only an engine. It was made, and can be again. So in this moment, I think Laerryn maybe realizes that the true heart of a city comes from the people. Always thinking, thoughts speed by her, whether or not she ever had time to really process the revelations before her demise.
Evandrin is already gone due her hubris. Who else would she lose? Would it have felt like home, without Loqautious there by her side? Would it truly feel like her city, without Patia keeping up with her? What would she cause, without Nydas to hold her back? What is Avalir, without her Brass Ring?
Her assistant, probably still waiting for her, in their offices, and the choice of which will see tomorrow?
How many will feel the heat of Rau'shan's flames as they die? How many will fall to Ka'Mort's earth?
None, she decides. Her friends and neighbors, the kinsmen of her home, will not feel these pains.
I think it is also a moment that beautifully showcases her accepting her death. She will not be here to heal her city. She's going down with the ship. Maybe her blueprints will be found and used, and Avalir will be as it once was. Maybe they won't, and they'll construct it all anew. But she won't see it, so it is their turn to take what was given and build on.
Of course, Rau'shan and Ka'Mort were not the only assets of the Calamity, and damage and destruction was still wrought across Exandria. But there are enough hands to clear the ruins and make their own stories. And that is because of the greatest Architect of them all.
She gave them a chance indeed.

CURRENT FHJY THEORIES
My current conspiracy board for the season
These are my plausible theories and then I'll talk about my batshit insane theories
I think that the rat grinders HAVE lost their memories regarding Lucy's death. I'm inclined to believe that Ratbitch Dogface and MAYBE Ivy remember. I'd bet that they took the honey to lie to Aguefort and the other staff about their involvement with her death.
The mind terrorism that Fig put Ruben through caused him to vomit up a 'Bloody Viscous Substance' And I will not be surprised if Fig has made Ruben remember whatever happened to Lucy
Gertie verified that the honey made from the Devil's nectar is bloody red.
She is making the honey for some local food trucks that we know Are KLKC's
Another thing we know for a fact is that the body of Lucy Frostblade showed marks from multiple assailants including magical, non- magical, and specifically a type of bludgeoning damage that carbonized her blood into red diamonds
This leads us to believe that Lucy's murderers were her own party members. In addition to this, they also found the rage crystals in the dirt and the bodies of Lucy and Yolanda Badgood.
This clearing's destroyed trees shows indications of giant involvement as well
What we currently know leads me to believe that the Rat Grinders attempted a replication of Kristen's spring break miracle
Lucy attempted to resurrect an 'Evil' sibling of her goddess, Ruvina, The unnamed god now known as Ankarna.
This mirrors the Cassandra / Galicaea relationship as well
This attempt clearly backfired in some way I'd bet either resulting in Lucy or the others becoming something similar to the Rage Mages we saw in the battle at the Synod
I think that the Rat grinders are all at various levels of involvement in the upcoming plot involving Ankarna with KLCK being the mastermind AND I KNOW that there's some bullshit going on with the rogue teacher that FOUND KLCK ( Will be unsurprised if this unknown teacher is dead)
We currently do not know how this episode's revelations regarding the name will affect these plans in the upcoming episodes. If this is playing into the preexisting plans or completely destroying them
The way Brennan talked in the most recent AP about how he thought that them finding the name was an inevitability but a scene he thought would happen in the third act of the season makes me think that this will NOT affect the Rat Grinders plans in a majorly significant way. They still have to do something ( some kind of ritual or other ) that the Bad Kids will have stop in the final eps
After learning all about the Historical side of the shifts that Ankarna's domain saw I believe that there is a lot of evidence for a conspiracy against Cassandra and Ankarna involving Sol and Galicaea. But this is still up in the air
Now for my pepe silvia conspiracies . . . Feel free to bully me in the comments for these
ONE- The Time Quangle that Arthur Aguefort dropped on us in the second episode
We know that The Seven have already experienced a large chunk of this year during the GED quest that Aguefort was present for
And lesser men will say that the TIME QUANGLE is BLeeM's way of justifying the continuity errors between these two seasons
I am not one of them
The animated opening sees the Bad Kids falling past clocks and into a diamond prison created by Aguefort which explodes into the BK's falling in a scene eerily similar to them falling into Riz's briefcase of holding. They then face villains from both of the two previous seasons ( Goldenhoard, Kalina, a Corn-cutie, Chungledown Bim, James Whitclaw ( the mindflayer that kicked Fabian's ass during spring break) , Coach Daybreak, and Penelope w/ Dayne) in the Gym they fought Kalvaxus ( VP Goldenhoard ) before we get title cards for each of the Bad Kids
I posit that we will see the Bad Kids tumble through time as a result of not only Agueforts chronomancy adventure with Ayda but also the fuckery involving the time loop at the synod. Visiting their past villains in addition to current threats
TWO- Vice Principal Jace Stardiamond
Facts we know about Aguefort's resident sorcery prof and interim VP . . . Ragh Barkrock SAW him give Adaine's mom and Kalina the Nightmare King's crown from Aguefort's office after prompocalypse, Jace Stardiamond holds a useless position at Aguefort as sorcerers do not need any teaching for an innate ability, despite his uselessness he was chosen to become the VP, he was the person Yolanda Badgood was going to approach about the sinister shit surrounding Lucy Frostblade's 'disappearance' and the paperwork for a new deity she never saw. Yolanda is now dead, even though he is VP; after the death of Interim emergency backup principal Arcturus Grix He is still VP and Student body president Mazey Phaedra is now acting principal. Making room for KLCK to become principal next year if she wins that election.
Reviewing these fact I put forth the following idea, VP Jace Stardiamond is in cahoots with KLCK AND he is the unknown rogue teacher. WHY? how would someone with no knowledge of trickery or thievery manage to take the Nighmare King's Crown from Aguefort's office? How would a man that essentially does nothing as a teacher keep job security? What if the reason that KLCK was found by the rogue teacher was because he is in on the scheme? SPIE'S TONGUE CURSE?? SOMETHING THAT TWO ROGUES IN CAHOOTS WOULD USE DON'T YOU THINK? WHY WOULD HE MAKE RIZ A MEMBER OF THE FACULTY??

The thing about comparing Kipperlilly's grudge to hating DEI and affirmative action is that those things are exactly what she's advocating for. The Bad Kids are not receiving accommodation for anything - and in fact Aguefort seems like the type to despise things like accommodations and would tell disabled people to pick themselves up by their bootstraps, but I digress -rather, they have direct connections to massive save-the-world plots three years in a row now that puts them way ahead of everyone else. Though they put in hard work, that doesn't change the fact that no one else working as hard as they can will ever equal being told to go stop a god from coming back and coincidentally your dad (a) worked directly with that dead god's primary agent in the past and (b) is now a super cool angel secret agent who will directly assist you in the task. Oh, and also, your teammate's parents are the dead god's primary mortal agents. And also they kidnapped your other teammate's dad because he's a powerful demon lord so now she's involved too. And you all happen to end up on Leviathan, where Fabian is an instant celebrity who immediately gets a cult worshiping the planks he walks on because they all work for his rich undead infernal dad.
The issue is that people keep mapping it to the real world and seeing "tragic backstory" like it would be IRL, which is a mistake. It's not a disability. They don't go to normal school to become accountants or NASA engineers, they are there to be doing exactly that shit that their backstories rope them into. Like, this isn't Buffy, they aren't saving the world incidentally, this is school for saving the world to pursue a career in saving the world. Spyre functions so differently from IRL that everyone is dramatically failing to comprehend the actual situation everyone is in.
And the thing about hating affirmative action is that it presumes someone only got into whatever not because they have skill, but because of their race or something like that. That's manifestly different from what's going on here. Kipperlilly has no doubt the Bad Kids are incredibly powerful and skilled - but their backstories gave them opportunities to use that power and skill that no one else will ever have regardless of effort or even luck. The Bad Kids can't go five seconds without tripping over the revelation that the BBEG for the year is one of their second cousins. That just doesn't happen to other people, period. The world revolves around the BK's in ways it will never revolve around anyone else so the Bad Kids will always get the massive adventures to save the world and be the top of their class because they're personally connected to the narrative.
Remember, Brennan has confirmed that other AA students do not do shit like that. They do exactly the sort of missions you'd expect them to - go in dungeon, fight monsters, come back. It's not "uh, the Rat Grinders should have just gone out and saved the world too", that's not how it works. AA students are not usually expected to, their rat grinding is just a more tedious and efficient version of what they would be doing otherwise. The BK's don't get involved with these plots simply because they're the most heroic heroes ever who seek wrongs to right, they do it because every single time everyone but Gorgug (who is for the most part absent major narrative stakes) was born someone that would get those in's, feats reproducible by no one else.
"Ah, but the Seven-"
The Seven prove the tragedy of it. Because Kipperlilly is right, but she's also wrong. The brilliance of BLeeM this season is that he's crafted a narrative inseparable from the meta of how the game works. In a very real way this is like the Dungeons & Dragons versions of Tron. The fact that it's a series of fictional TTRPG sessions is essential to the universe and it's story, in a Twin Peaks-ian way.
Because, see, it's not actually, technically magical trauma that gives out those narrative advantages. Magical trauma is just the most obviously visible side-effect. What the issue actually is is that, as everyone has noted over and over again, the Rat Grinders are NPCs, and it is therefore impossible for the world to ever bend itself around them the way it does for the PCs. Except, most are just saying that as a funny haha joke.
No, like, literally, that's the issue. They will always be in the shadow of the handful of people that the people constructing their world, their timeline, their very existence, has decided matter. They are doomed by narrative causality to be "boring". And I'm going to take a moment to say here, isn't it crazy no one is talking about this when we just got done with Neverafter which was all about this exact thing????? Like, literally the BBEG was the Authors. That is the situation here, more or less.
Anyway, there will never be a demon attacking that due to a curse is only vulnerable to hot licks from Ruben's guitar passed down from the first gnomish rocker. Mary Ann will never be the prophesized liberator of kobolds enslaved in dragon dens. Ivy will never find out her father was secretly a super-soldier for the Council of Chosen who before he was assassinated left her notes detailing a sinister plot within the government of Solace.
People keep having a hard time with this because it intuitively doesn't feel right to ever classify something like losing a father in any context to have some kind of bright side. But if you take nothing else away from this post, let it be this: Adventuring as it's done in Spyre is not something done in the real world. Adventuring is something everyone chose to go to AA to learn and put into practice as their long-term career. And in that, absolutely these things give the PCs a completely one hundred percent insurmountable leg-up on the thing they're all in competition for.
And it being completely insurmountable in that way further goes to show the difference between hating that situation and hating affirmative action. Even AA is not a guarantee that a specific member of the majority will lose out on something and a specific member of the minority will get it instead. As soon as the character sheets were rolled everyone else at Aguefort may as well have just gone home and started studying to be accountants because the main characters had been chosen. Or they could keep going and hope they get a spin-off, I guess.
But Kipperlilly does keep trying, for she doesn't really comprehend the true eldritch horror beyond her existence shackled to the bits of a bunch of comedians, and her solution is to adjust for those unfair advantages.
Which is affirmative action.
How is that not obvious.

You Scare Me, Professor: Chapter 21
Tumblr media
Summary: The reader is taking graduate classes at a local university in the wooded upstate New York. She is drawn to her professor, Dr. Joel Miller, though she is also inherently aware that he has something dark about him that she can't quite put her finger on. As the reader's attraction grows deeper, she has to decide whether to endure the danger or run away as fast as possible.
Pairing: Professor Joel Miller x f!reader
“I want you to come somewhere with me in a few weekends.” Dr. Miller ducked under the water beside me and emerged a few seconds later.
I dragged my toes along the small tiles on the bottom of the pool. “Where?”
“It's a surprise.” He scrunched his nose and squinted his eyes as he grinned. Despite our age gap there were times he looked so boyish - like right now.
I made a face back at him. “Everything’s a secret. You gotta give me this one.” I raised my eyebrows and swished my arms around.
Dr. Miller reached for my hands and pulled me toward the deep end like we did in the past. When my hands rested on his shoulders and I began to kick my feet, he gave in.
“Over the long weekend in February my sister is getting married. Come with me. Be my.. plus one.”
“Her wedding.” I smiled and then laughed. “She doesn't even know me.”
“We can change that.”
“What if she doesn't like me?”
Dr. Miller grinned. “My sister likes everyone who I like. She trusts my judge of character.”
“I’d love to go. I just.. that's a big night for your sister. I don't want to ruin it.”
He chuckled again. “How could you ruin it? Just don't drink too much and vomit on her dress and I think she'll be just fine.”
I snickered and took a deep breath, continuing to kick. “Are you sure?”
“If you don't want to go, I understand. I just-”
“I do.” I cut him off before he could continue. “I want to go.”
“Good.” He pecked my lips and continued to swim backwards until we reached the other side. “Then it's a date.”
“Where is it?”
“At the Stowe Ski Resort in Vermont.”
“I can't ski,” I said with a chuckle.
Dr. Miller smiled wide. “Well, you can't swim either, yet here we are.” He let his eyebrows rise and fall and I chuckled.
“Good point.” I slicked back his hair and planted a kiss on his lips. “Okay.. as long as it's okay with your sister.. I'll go.”
..
Two weekends later, Dr. Miller and I were walking hand-in-hand up the pebbly walkway of Red Maple Vineyard. I was nervous. Dr. Miller’s sister seemed to mean the world to him. Meeting her for the first time had me on pins and needles.
What if she doesn't like me? I kept asking myself that question over and over. Would our age gap bother her?
The two of us passed by the main doors to the establishment and headed to a back patio. It was littered with firepits, each one surrounded by a fake, see-through igloo.  Patrons dressed in winter hats and scarves, all toting wine glasses and talking with smiles inside of them.
When Dr. Miller grinned and gave a wave, my stomach knotted up. At the far, left corner of the patio a woman rose to her feet with the same friendly wave. She was a beautiful woman, with shortly cropped brown hair and high cheekbones. Jamie Lee Curtis in the flesh. The salt-and-pepper haired man who was seated beside her rose to his feet in preparation to greet us.
Moment of truth. I knew I needed to make a good impression.
“My favorite brother,” Carol greeted, pulling Dr. Miller I'm for a hug.
“Your only brother,” he added with a laugh, kissing her on the cheek.
“Still my favorite.” She nudged him and looked to me.
“Hi.” I smiled wide and extended a hand in Carol's direction. “I'm (Y/N). It's so nice to meet you.”
“Carol Miller,” she smiled and side-glanced her beau. “Soon to be Brennan.”
“Not soon enough.” The man exchanged a friendly handshake with Joel, and then switched his gaze to me. “Will Brennan.”
“Nice to meet you.” I then added, “Congratulations, by the way.” My eyes danced from Carol to Will and back to Carol.
“Thank you,” they said in unison, before inviting us to sit around the firepit with them.
Dr. Miller placed a hand on my lower back and extended his arm to allow me into the igloo a step ahead of him. I ducked under and sat down between him and his sister.
“We picked up a bottle of Chardonnay and Merlot,” Carol explained. “Preference?” She looked at me and reached for an empty glass. “Or we could grab a bottle of something else.”
“Oh, thank you. Um.. I’m more of a white wine girl.”
“Me, too.” Carol reached for the Chardonnay and poured me a glass before offering the same to her brother, who went with the Merlot.
“So,” Carol eyed the two of us, “How did you two meet?”
The question that made me freeze. I had only been asked one another time, and that by Tori. I assumed Dr. Miller would be giving his sister the same one because we hadn't talked about another faux-scenario.
“We met at the university,” Dr. Miller said.
“Oh,” Carol glanced to meet as she brought the glass of Chardonnay to her lips. “Do you work there, too?”
“I work at the board of education in Windham,” I explained, feeling my cheeks redden. “I’m actually just taking two courses at night. Chipping away at my Masters.”
“Oh, so this is a forbidden romance.” Carol said, motioning between the two of us with the hand she held her wine glass with. “Got it.” Her delivery was so dry I wasn't sure if she was kidding, disapproving or otherwise. I wondered what she would think of me actually being in his class.
Dr. Miller grinned at his sister who finally cracked a smile and gave a wink.
“I'm teasing,” she added. “You're both grown adults.”
Phew.
“I mean, she can't be one to judge,” Will leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. “She fell for her boss.”
Carol glanced over at him and they shared a smile-turned-laugh.
“And yet, I still haven't gotten a raise.”
“I thought the diamond ring might've evened that out.”
I smiled to myself at their playful interaction. “How long have you been together?”
Carol rested a hand on his knee. “Almost three years.”
“Carol is the Dean of students at a private high school not far from here,” Dr. Miller informed me.
“Hillcrest Academy,” Carol explained. “And Will is the headmaster.”
“Nepotism,” Dr. Miller mumbled into his wine glass before taking a sip, making Will laugh and Carol roll her eyes.
“Fortunately for us, private schools don't have the same rules as most public schools do. One of us would probably have to leave to teach in another building, but Hillcrest doesn't have a strong nepotism policy. I just can't be the one to directly evaluate her performance.”
“Okay, enough work stuff,” Carol shushed him and leaned back in her chair to cross one leg over the other. “Let's get a little drunk and get to know each other.” She glanced at me with a look like, ‘what do you say'?
“Here, here.” Will raised his glass.
“Sounds good to me.” I brought my glass to the middle and then Dr. Miller and Carol did the same. We alternated tapping our glasses together and got the evening underway.
I was secretly hoping the truth would come out about Dr. Miller’s castle and the money. I was tempted to ask after a few glasses of wine, but I kept my mouth shut. The night ended up full of laughs and old, embarrassing stories. The mood was light, and talking to Carol and Will felt so organic that I certainly wasn't about to spoil it with intrusive questions.
“So,” Carol cleared her throat, swirling the wine that neared the bottom of the glass. The men were having their own conversation so her question was directed at me. “Do you want kids in the future?” Her question drew a quick glance from Dr. Miller and I knew he was fully paying attention despite his interaction with Will.
“Oh, well, eventually.. probably.” I chuckled and sipped from my own glass of wine. “I'm not totally there yet.”
“You've got time.” She tapped my knee and then fanned herself. “These igloos get warm.”
“That's the wine, honey.” Will placed a hand on the back of her neck and gave a squeeze.
Carol removed a white scarf she had on over a blue sweater. “So, Joel says you'll be attending our wedding next month.”
I raised my eyebrows and looked to Dr. Miller, then back to Carol. “If it's okay with you. I mean..”
“She's coming.” He draped an arm around my shoulders and winked, making me look down with a smile and back up.
I looked at Carol. “I'll be there.”
“Well, upon first impressions,” Carol glanced at Dr. Miller and then to me. “I'd love to have you as my brother’s plus one.”
“Congratulations,” Dr. Miller looked at me. “You passed the Carol test.”
“Even I flunked the first time,” Will added, making everyone laugh.
I felt like I was flying when we left the vineyard that night. Things had gone so well. When we exchanged hugs and finally went to our separate cars, I turned to Dr. Miller and kissed him on the cheek.
“Carol likes you,” he said, smiling back.
“She's great,” I gushed, “And Will seems really nice. They seem happy.”
Dr. Miller put his first two fingers beneath my chin. I loved when he did that. He stared at me for a few seconds before leaning in and touching his lips to mine. “Let's go home.”
Home.
I sighed contently, eager to snuggle under the fluffy down comforter in Dr. Miller's bed. I felt completely at ease after being worried about the evening prior to going out. I agreed. “Let's go home.”

FHJY New Names over-analysis post
We're a few days past an episode that introduced a lot of new npcs and ideas and all, and I figured I'd dig into some of the names and references and all that I noticed to see if any hints might have been snuck in there for the rest of the season.
Interim Emergency Backup Principal Arcturus Grix: A couple of different things in here, but I'll just get what I think is the most likely one out of the way: Arcturus is a star that is part of the constellation Bootes (a herdsman in various myths), and the name translates to 'guardian of the bear'.
Or, perhaps, guardian of the owlbears.
Brennan absolutely seems like someone who would have at some point been way into constellations and their stories so I'd put money on this being an intentional stealth-ish pun.
I think Grix is just supposed to sound machine-y but I might be missing it.
Terpsichore Skullcleaver: Back on the Greek mythology theme, Terpsichore is one of the Greek Muses, and specifically is the Muse of Dance. Obviously a wildly appropriate name for a dance teacher who is hopefully going to actually inspire Fabian.
Skullcleaver presumably means she is of some relation to Katja, of course.
Lucillia Lullaby: I mean, this one is pretty obvious; a Lullaby is a type of song, and from what she saw she seems to be a pretty calming presence to suit attempting to get a toddler to sleep as that song type does. This name was actually, unlike the two above, on the payroll list from freshman year so it's a lot more directly on the nose (because, frankly, Brennan was coming up with like 30 npcs who would probably never appear).
Tiberia Runestaff: Runestaff similarly is just kind of obvious and also was on the freshman year list; Tiberia as a name literally just means born near the river Tiber, and so I think was chosen mostly because it sounds kind of severe and wizard-y.
Yolanda Badgood: Also from the freshman year list, and I suppose it would take someone both bad and good to teach students of both 'good' and 'evil' divinities. Brennan's gotten better at his NPC names over the years, or just it's hard to do a freaking list. I sympathize, as someone who keeps a random name generator tab open while GMing. Also, on a random note, the freshman year list has a driver's ed teacher (one Alphonse Doublefist) and I NEED a scene of Fig having to take driver's ed because she's been driving without a license for two years.
Mazey Phaedra: Mazey is such a groanworthy name for a minotaur-adjacent person that I'm surprised they didn't throw things at him for it; Phaedra is another Greek myth name, this one of the daughter of Minos (of building-the-maze fame) and also a whole other thing we don't have time to get into because it might start Discourse and that probably isn't relevant because it's really just another Minotaur reference.
CUS Dabus: One of the universities Riz looks at, I mostly want to call it out because of being a reference to my personal favorite official DnD setting. It's mentioned as being in the City of Doors, which is the nickname of course of the extra-planar city of Sigil. The Dabus are a race that are the entourage of the mysterious Lady of Pain, the very-definitely-not-a-god who loosely rules over that city. I doubt we ever really visit Sigil, but who knows, we've been to the Nine Hells and the cosmological stuff seems to largely conform to traditional DnD.

Maybe brennan x witch reader that help eachother all the time but at some point she gets really hurt and brennan just goes ballistic trying to get to her on time and the fluff afterwards of him being a mother hen
Don’t die
When Brennan had first come to the Riorson house he never imagined that the first thing he would be greeted by would be a hurdle of females. All visibly drained. All way paler. The silver lining their eyes. That was the first of many times you had hissed at him. Back then he had misjudged the situation. His understanding of what was going on was murky. Brennan had little to no knowledge of what else was used to power the wards. Too many scrolls were in languages he couldn’t read.
That day he had simply attempted to pick up a little girl that had been crawling across the floor. Brennan had barely bent over when a sharp knife dug against his neck. “Move and I will cut you open”, that was when he first laid eyes on you. You were younger than him. At least that’s how it looked. But even if your hand wasn’t shaky Brennon saw the fear in your eyes. If not that then the scars all across your body did.
That was also the day when a new side of anger was born. They were using witches as power outlets. Dragging innocent children to the borders. But Brennan was going to change that.
“So what does this say?”, Brennan leaned over your shoulder, pointing at the paragraph he had been struggling to translate. You were in his room. The hour was edging towards the early morning but you both couldn’t seem to put the work aside. “I’m not one hundred percent sure”, you admitted, frowning softly. As yet another yawn threatened to slip past your lips. “But it looks like a sacrifice ritual”, you tapped your finger against the illustration above, “Basically the best way to use us as outlets”. Brennon shook his head, “Then we do everything against that and make sure that everyone is prepared to see signs of someone who might try to…”, “We could help”, you cut him off. For some months now that the revolution had kicked off in full swing the question of witchcraft had been raised in almost all meetings. For the most part, witches could uphold simple powers. But where they could shine if they gave away their powers to others.
“No, not like that”, Brennan protested as he stepped away from you. “This would give us the upper hand”, you pushed on further. He had never asked anything of your kind. But his protectiveness had harmed the progress of the revolution. “I will not allow that”, his sharp features deepened even more. The dimples on his cheeks wiped off with no trace. “But I am offering. A lot of us are”, you stated, turning to face him now. “Most riders don’t know how to safely use your power”, he pointed out in a huff. You knew that he understood what the offer implied. You knew the outcomes too. You crooked your head to the side watching the male in front of you.
“Don’t”, Brennan pleaded softly, his tired eyes meeting yours. “We will be fine”, you stepped closer to him, “I will be fine”. Your fingers softly brushed across his jaw. One that he flexed out of reflex before his lips softly touched your neck. You two hadn’t given time to discuss the situation brewing between you two. At first, it was a mutually needed distance. But now with you spending almost all nights in his bed and all the little touches. It had to be more. It felt like more. “I can’t…”, Brennon breathed out, his fingers digging into your hips just a thing stronger. “We already lost so much”, his desperate eyes met yours. But you didn’t let his fears reflect in your eyes, “You won’t lose me”, even if promises like that were so wrong to make in battles like that.
Brennon had triple-checked your daggers, flying leathers. Even the pins in your hair had been fidgeted with. You had caught his hand when he moved to recheck the straps of your other weapons, “I got it, Lieutenant Colonel”, you nudged his shoulder, hoping to suffocate his nerves for him. But he only frowned, “You never call me that, don’t call me that”, he grumbled, leaning his forehead against yours. “You are sleeping in my bed tonight”, he muttered after a couple of minutes of silence. “Is that a suggestion?”, you chuckled, letting your arms sneak across his waist. “No, an order and you know how much I love when you follow my orders”, he muttered, pressing a kiss to your temple. “Kinky”, you muttered as you two watched the horizon, waiting for the signal you all dreaded most.
Through it all. All you could think of was Brennan. And rule number one was to not get distracted but you worried. Worried for all of them. The cadets that for the most part were stepping into their doom. You had just helped to carry the injured flyer to the healers when your eyes landed on Violet and the venin that now surrounded her. It took you a second to make up your mind as you darted through the field. Summoning illusions as you ran in hopes of winning more time for her.
“Use me and get to Tairn”, you ordered her, as you threw one of the daggers, her confused eyes watching you. “You shouldn’t be here”, she stared but you quickly cut her off, “You’ll be able to aim right”, you growled out as you watched another cloud of wyvern approaching. “Now, Violet”, you hissed out, right as her hand reached for you and you fully lowered your shields, allowing her to dip her mental shields into yours.
It all was going right as you hoped it was until you eyes caught a glimpse of venin. “Traitor”, it hissed, “trading our secrets and for what?”. You turned, throwing another dagger before launching yourself off the closet building as you ran in hopes of reaching a dragon that you could use as leverage. You needed to get off the ground. See it all from the air. But your jumps had gotten sloppier, and with your powers running through Violet too, you knew your time was running out quickly.
You leaped off yet another rooftop. Eyes falling on orange scales. Marbh. It had to be him. Meaning that Brennan was here you only needed to get his attention but you needed to get rid of the venin that was chasing you first. “Pathetic little witch”, the venin snickered as you dodged another blow. You only had one dagger left. If you threw it you would be left defenseless. You looked back up, whistling in the tune you and Brennan used to identify each other with while raiding. But it was Marbh’s eyes you met first. And his claw was close enough so if you just jumped now. You leaped. A pained roar sliced the chaos as Marbh quickly changed his position but you saw something in the dragon’s eyes. Something that meant…
And then you felt it, a sharp claw digging into your flesh. Wyvern. Sadistic laugh. And the claw that was meters away from crushing your body. You managed to twist yourself, plunging the last dagger that you had right at the center of the claw welcoming the felling off free fall. Until your eyes caught Brennon’s mortified ones. His lips were moving but you no longer could make out what he was saying.
It felt as if someone had ripped Brennon’s heart out of his chest as he watched your body fall. It’s like every part of him froze for a moment. And it’s Marbh who’s working on his own accord as he plunges reaching out his claw to catch your limp body. Everything else feels equally as if it’s not him. Not him getting off his dragon. Not him watching Marbh slowly letting your blood-covered body hit the grass.
“No”, and it’s share panic. Blinding panic. Not real. Brennan kept telling himself. If he blinked. If he could only make himself blink it would all go away. You would be here. His knees hit the ground as he reached for you. Pulling your body to the side so he could examine the cut. “Yn”, he calls out, eyes scanning your face. “Come on, love, open your eyes for me”, slowly he mends the fresh cut, watching the flesh come together but your limp form remained.
“Come on”, he pulled you closer to him. Not safe, Marbh growled assessing the surroundings, flashing his teeth at anyone who got too close. “Please”, Brennan brushed some of the hair away from your forehead, “You can’t die. Don’t die”. His eyes were burning with tears he refused to weep just yet. He couldn’t. Never in his life had he had anyone he loved so much. You had become part of him. Letting go wasn’t an option. Marbh let out a pained roar too no doubt feeling the same emotion his ridder was feeling. Brennan felt his mending powers flailing. He was exhausted himself and with him not knowing what exactly he was healing and what other damage had been done most of it was wasted.
He didn’t care that he was covered in blood and grime as he pressed you closer to his chest. Swaying from side to side. Trying to suppress his sobs. And then he felt a light twitch. The feeling of fingers brushing against his side. Brennan pulled back, wide eyes looking down at you. Your own eyes were barely open but he could see the slight rise and fall of your chest. “Oh, thank you, thank you”, his eyes darted up to the sky before his attention was fully back on you. “Brenn…”, you muttered, bloody lips cracking as you spoke. “I’ve got you, you will be okay”, he reassured you, “I will never let anything happen to you, darling”.

Jawbone & Riz talk (Pt.1 | ‣Pt.2)
Riz "Rogue stuff!"
Riz asks Jawbone about Kipperlilly :p
Jawbone asks Riz if he's seeing something that he recognizes in himself in Kipperlilly! 😭😭✋✋ That's such a hard blow fr! 😭✋
👀👀 The rogue professor found Kipperlilly???? Why-? Is the rogue professor on Kipperlilly's side?! ;0
I love how Jawbone and Riz just casually realize that they don't talk that often just one-on-one! 😂🤣💀
Jawbone bluntly asking what Riz has going on! 😂✋ Riz! Don't you see! Jawbone is telling you that you need therapy! 🤣 Don't deny it! 😂💀✋
Brennan just LAUGHS when Murph as Riz says "It's all OUT there!" 😂😂
Bruh... Riz needs sleep!! 😭
Jawbone telling Riz that he's coming for him! 😭✋ Bro! If we get a whole scene of a therapy session between Riz and Jawbone! That would be so amazing for real and I'd be replaying that scene for the rest of my life! 😭✋
Kristen "Do I put my first AND last name?"
😂😂 It's been so long and Kristen hasn't even gone past the "name" part! 😂🤣💀

(Ally just dancing and vibing to that full name immediately after it being said! 🤣😂💀)
Jawbone doesn't want Riz to tell anyone about what he shared with him.
Kipperlilly asked some questions about Kristen and so Jawbone thought that it was only fair that he give some info too.
Riz: "You can't just drop that"
💀💀💀 yeah Jawbone! You can't do that! 💀💀💀 Not to the detective boy! 😭✋
Kipperlilly overheard the info about Kristen's god dying 🥲🥲🥲
Murph/Riz REALIZING THAT KIPPERLILLY IS A ROGUE! 💀😭 SHE SNEAKY! 😭✋
I LOVE how Jawbone just told Kipperlilly almost the entire lifestory of Kristen's deities! 💀 *Crying*
Riz is feeling so paranoid now! 💀 (When is he not paranoid fr though! 😭✋)
Riz has access to the "message" cantrip! 😆 Guess they're gonna be using "message" again a WHOLE LOT this season! 💀💀✋✋🥲🥲

I’ve seen a lot of people on Twitter complaining about NeverAfter to the point of hating on the players which is bizarre in its own right, but someone asked why the characters were motivated to fight the princesses and saying it felt low stakes because they couldn’t die my guy are we watching the same show??
THEY LOSE EVERYTHING OF THEY CANT PULL THIS OFF!
you can only enter your Twice Upon A Time if you have been made aware of the greater world. The Fairies want to take away free will and force everything to go back to the way it was. No one would be able to go against them ever again because they won’t know better. The princesses want to fully destroy the book using the ink and everything else with it. They said that they can’t have a part in the new land that would come after because their trauma would make them write their stories in reaction to their past lives rather than in indifference to their past lives. The stepmother wants something similar, so in both cases everyones lives would be erased, without guarantee that they would even exist in the new world.
Why are the intrepid heroes fighting to save the universe? Because they live in it and are the only people aware enough to try and stop it! They don’t know what comes next, but they aren’t fighting to make a new world, they’re fighting to not nuke the current one.
As for how they make the world better…
As he died in “No Place for Princes and Princesses” Mother Goose said that he believes the world they live in can be better which is why he left home to begin with. His motivation hasn’t changed from the start, and he has legit never done anything with the book that would imply that he wanted control or power. (He always asks everyone what they want when the person they’re going to put in the book isn’t able to speak for themselves, i.e. Candlewick, and he actively keeps other people from going into the book if he thinks there’s a different way, i.e. the Itsy Bitsy Spider) He’s not gonna force people to live the life he wants by writing it in the book, he’s gonna give them control over their own lives using him as a tool to get it. (I have a feeling that when he dies Jack will pick up his work and keep helping people but that’s just my opinion)
I see no reason for the cast or Brennan to get hate. Is this a huge season that might have benefitted by having ten more episodes? Yes!Did it meet your expectations for what horror should be? Maybe not. But don’t dumb down the characters and the choices they made. Each of the characters gave up something that they needed for their Happily Ever After, but they’re selfless enough to not want to ruin the possibility of change for the rest of the world (unlike the princesses and the Stepmother)
TLDR: (JUMP SCARE CHRIS PRATT)

Warnings: implied past non-con
It was Thursday, and Iris was distracted with the oncoming dreaded Friday. So distracted, she forgot to mind her steps. Her ankle twisted over the slightly-too-long hem of her dress, and her heel rolled out from under her.
Kit caught her by the arms so fast it hadn’t even begun to hurt yet.
“Thanks,” she said, wincing. Kit lowered her slowly to the ground, and her ankle throbbed.
“Really, Kit, it’s just a sprain,” she protested as he gently removed her shoe. It really hurt, but she could suck it up and deal with it. Life went on, and the pile of work didn’t stop getting bigger just because she was a wuss.
Kit didn’t pay her any mind, and she began to feel annoyed about it when Kit suddenly wrapped his cool hands around her ankle. Iris braced for the pain, but there was only a slight tingle and the scent of rain, and the soreness was gone.
She experimentally moved her foot, and there wasn’t even a twinge.
“How did you do that?” she asked, baffled. Kit hadn’t done any magic in the almost-week he’d been living with her, and she had assumed he couldn’t anymore.
“Do what?” Kit looked up at her, confused.
“You just healed my ankle.”
Kit’s eyes went wide, as if he didn’t even realize he’d done it. He glanced down at his fingers, wiggling them a little, and a small glow like a miniature sunbeam danced over his fingertips.
He beamed at the display, but as suddenly as it appeared, it was gone. Kit moved his hand again, but nothing happened.
“Oh,” he said, “That’s it.”
Kit looked like he was about to cry, and then his expression closed off into resignation.
Iris felt horrible, but there was nothing she could do. She put her shoe back on and stood, offering a hand.
“Come on,” she said, quietly. “I’m sure your magic will come back soon.”
“Right,” he muttered. He took her hand and got up. He didn’t try any more magic for the rest of the day.
___________________
Iris dismissed him early, telling him to come back for dinner at six while she worked on papers.
Kit didn’t quite know what to do with himself, so he opted to go outside.
He had felt empty and lifeless since the ankle incident, and he really could use the comforting midday sun.
As Kit stepped out into the gardens, he realized he made a mistake. The massacred grass and isolated flowers only made him miss himself and the fae realm more.
He couldn’t bear to look at the abomination they called a garden, and found an oak tree to sit under. Kit went to the other side of the tree to avoid the awful sight, only to be met with a view of nothing but the high stone wall.
Tears welled up in the corners of his eyes, and he sat heavily on the rough grass.
He heard birdsong coming from the other side of the wall, so familiar but out of reach, and couldn’t help but burst into tears.
Kit mourned the loss of his friends, the loss of his magic, the loss of home. Even his body wasn’t his, not after those horrible humans had pleasured themselves with it.
He wasn’t himself anymore, and hadn’t been for a long time.
“I want to go home. I want to go home.” he whispered to himself, as if wishing and saying it aloud would somehow make it happen.
He wrapped his arms around his knees, rocking, and wept.
Green leaves fell from the oak tree, as if weeping with him, and the branches shuddered.
Kit sobbed and sobbed, letting every frustration and sorrow flow out of him. He hadn’t cried since the first time the mortals helped themselves to his body, and he couldn’t stop.
He heard the signature sound of a metal armored boot behind him, and he clapped a hand around his mouth. He wept into his palm, trying to muffle himself, but it was too late.
“Hey,” said a soft voice, Brennan’s voice, and Kit screwed his eyes shut. He removed his hand and gasped in some air.
“What do you want?” he croaked, voice wrecked.
“Are you…” Brennan trailed off, probably noticing how stupid an ‘are you okay’ would be.
“I heard you crying,” Brennan settled on.
Kit shuddered, tears still streaming down his face. “I’ll try to be quieter,” he rasped.
Brennan moved closer, stepping fully around the oak.
“What’s going on?” he asked.
“I want to go home,” said Kit, curling further into the ground. “I want to go home,” he said again, mostly just to try and comfort himself with repetition. He tugged at his own hair, trying to stave off his emotions with the sting, but it didn’t work.
Brennan shifted, clearly uncomfortable. “I’m sorry,” he said.
“Okay,” said Kit. He felt empty, drained, and didn’t want Brennan there. He let go of his hair, smoothing it down to self-soothe. “Could you go away?” he asked. “Please?”
Brennan patted him on the shoulder, still awkward, and left.
Kit didn’t want to feel better, but the sun was shining, he’d cried it out, and maybe Brennan didn’t hate him.
He rubbed his hands up and down his arms, still trying to catch his breath and calm down.
“Five years,” he muttered. “Just five years.”
White lilies and purple hyacinths sprouted and bloomed at his feet, responding to his distress.
He brushed his hand over their petals, breathing in their perfume.
The plants swayed in the late summer breeze, and he smiled at them a little, forgetting himself. And then he remembered the gardener, and his heart ached again.
“I’m sorry,” he said to the flowers. “They’re just going to dig you up soon.”
The flowers couldn’t respond of course; even magic plants didn’t talk.
But he sat with the blossoms and closed his eyes to drink in the sun, his misery abated.
For now.

Okay I know I said I wouldn't do any more fhjy theories cause I'm not that interested I them but. I'm having Thoughts.
Cassandra has become "unmade" as Brennan put it, but I think this means that she's just become a different kind of divinity. One that wants to make Kristen's life hell, as promised at the end of that little speech.
How did this new divinity come to be? Anger. At the beginning of the fight, the red stuff coming out of Kristen was her anger at Kristen/fear of her own death. They created the Rage Mages, and on Ally's Nat 20, you can see Brennan said all of the red stuff inside her was expelled. From this, we can assume that red stuff=divine rage or something like that.
However, despite expelling all that rage in the beginning, Cassandra was still angry. According to how Brennan described that moment with Kristen's insight check later, that moment after she expelled her anger, when she was passed and was about to say that it wasn't fair, this anger was a lot healthier. However, the Rage Mages all beat up on Cassandra until that anger too, soured into something that transformed Cassandra into whatever deity she is now.
Now this is conjecture, but I have a feeling that this new deity is a deity of injustice, or unfairness. Why? Because that's what Cassandra was most angry about. The unfairness of the situation.
And this next bit is even more conjecture, but I think it's fun, so come join me in leaping to conclusions:
At some point, one of the red things said "Cassandra." That was when all of the Rage Mages started to attack the goddess. Which leads me to believe that maybe, that fear of dying, that rage at the unfairness of it all, was planted in Cassandra. My theory is that someone had a conversation with Cassandra about her place as a goddess, about what happened with Yes!, about how Kristen hasn't been a very good track record as a cleric in the past. Someone who, during that conversation, planted something magical in that doubt, so that when it manifested, it would turn the goddess into something else. Into something spiteful and unfair.
Kipperlilly Copperkettle is a power leveller. Kipperlilly Copperkettle wants to twist the rules so that they favor her. Kipperlilly Copperkettle says she wants everything to be fair, bjlut she doesnt play fair.
And Kipperlilly Copperkettle was looking into Cassandra.
In conclusion: Kipperlilly Copperkettle and the Rat Grinders wanted Cassandra to become a goddess of unfairness so that they could get Krosten in even more trouble and also to have some kind of divinity helping then

listened to RCCC finally! the very noncomprehensive and subjective new info. Under the cut because it's very long:
Matt's both excited and terrified for the potential this campaign to really deconstruct what came before and it does sound like he is unsure what precisely to expect
Everyone is excited for more of the Shattered Teeth; Taliesin holding out for the moon as "favorite landmass"
Ashley could go even harder with Fearne's chaos and the cast encourages her to do so
Sam really loved FCG and FRIDA's relationship and he and Christian texted about it a lot during that arc! (Christian throws some credit to Aabria's encouragement)
Unsure if FRIDA is a werewolf
Ruidus "noticed" Chetney and Matt has more to reveal...
Because Ashton's rage was heavily directed towards that lack of knowledge about their past they are clinging very hard to the reveal of the Titan of Blood and what that might mean (also, fun talk about Taliesin's theme of Holes In The Past); it's also giving them a sense of feeling robbed.
Marisha really loves how Orym has built upon the Ashari lore; Liam loved seeing Orym's family, which was very important since Orym's childhood was, unlike Vax and Caleb's, a happy one with an extended family
History of Shattered Teeth was heavily influenced by the collaboration with Brennan for EXU Calamity
Imogen spent a long time thinking Liliana would have her back and feels extremely abandoned; she loves her powers and doesn't want to lose them, but doesn't see another option given the harm of the Vanguard.
Fearne is not worried about being Ruidusborn, as she is perfect :)
Chet long rest rolls are, as we know, real. The cast (Travis included) think this is hilarious. Travis does NOT have a backup character. Matt points out that they should uh, probably do that. Liam jokes maybe Bertrand will come back instead.
The duality of aeormaton; FCG defeating Shithead and within a day asking the creatures on Slival to shit on him. Matt regrets this worldbuilding detail; the cast does not.
Orym is an exploration, in a way, of imposter syndrome; he feels responsible but does not feel like he is the right guy for the job. Marisha notes that Liam's vision for Orym was very much as a sidekick, but then found the group was all somewhat conceptualized as go with the flow.
Taliesin's favorite rage is Time, but Space is also fun. Liam loves the immovable rod in the hammer; Matt also does.
Travis is the best and good things come to him; he enjoyed Graz'tchar a lot for the brief time he had it, but also thinks it's way better to give the sword to Novos and see what happens.
Ashley wanted to snoop in the captain's quarters and did not intend to seduce him but he wouldn't leave, and so. Fearne did get a boon with the HP reduction, but it's a secret for now. (Christian adds that FRIDA getting to be there for a Fearne theft was an honor)
Marisha's notes are copious but as a result they are 10% useful, 90% "WE SHOULD CUT OFF LUDINUS'S HEAD." [which to be fair is imo useful]. Sam points out there's a lot of lore. They shout out Dani.
Sam jokes sarcastically about seeing his past characters when the cast at large is asked (Marisha, Liam, and Taliesin all answer but it's mostly the same as when they've talked about it on 4sd).
The cast is busy and have not seen a ton of other shows lately but Sam does confirm he recently watched Jury Duty; Marisha and Matt like watching creepy movies and video essays together.
I feel they should uh...screen mental health related questions a bit harder; it's not that it's not important but I get the sense it's really difficult for the cast to answer to a live mic when they're here to talk about d&d.
Who would they swap character sheets with in Bells Hells: Travis and Marisha would both be Ashton, Taliesin would be Chetney, Ashley would be Laudna or FCG, Sam would be Fearne, Liam would be Laudna, Laura would be Fearne.
Sam has no dice superstitions. Laura disputes this; Sam will put dice in jail if they roll too poorly.
Voodoo donuts has dick donuts, to Laura's great joy. [I will say I suspect the reason they are going to RCCC is that LA to Oregon is an easier trip than to the east coast. also I cannot tell which cast member (or possibly Christian) said "I want a dick" but yes, much like Laura, I did laugh.]
Someone asks about the Titan Blood idea because they also have this concept in their campaign! Matt says that this made sense given that Ashton was transformed to a Genasi as part of his backstory.
An impulse that Ashley didn't follow through on was setting the Omen Archive on fire; she thinks it could have gone very badly and Matt confirms he did have a battle map ready
Has Vex seen the bug? YES (Laura tells the story in Vex's voice; Liam interrupts as Vax; Matt interrupts as Trinket)
How have your characters affected your worldview? Taliesin jokes it's therapy; Laura says it helps you empathize with people around you by pretending to be someone very different than yourself. Matt agrees that it's a reminder to treat everyone as individuals. Liam especially notes that Caleb taught him to accept the challenges within life without trying to escape them. Marisha encourages a self-insert to start, but to branch out after that. Travis says anyone of any age can have an adventure.

y'all something is up with riz
the command spell at frosty faire wasn't fully resolved, and now someone mentions a mole? watching the scene with sklonda felt like Brennan was trying to bait Murph (or that there's plot things only those two know).
and Baron in the teaser??
I don't think riz would willingly betray the bad kids, but maybe riz is still in the vulture dimension. maybe Baron is a doppelganger in his place.
idk I just think there's something up with that and I wouldn't put it past Brennan and Murphy to conspire behind the others' backs

"what's your ring size"
The text from Erin, the executive assistant, lit up your screen just past midnight.
You quickly responded, noting that it may have been a bit urgent if she texted you about it. You made sure to question her, your curiosity got the best of you.
"I have to buy you a ring before tomorrow Imfao, need a ring for the shoot"
The what? Spencer had failed to mention exactly what changed in his schedule, prompting you to quickly check your own.
"Spencer," You chastised him as you shut off the television, the episode of Friends almost over, causing a groan in frustration from him. "You didn't tell me we have a fucking shoot tomorrow!"
You huffed, your brows furrowed. Spencer couldn't hide the turn of his lips, his smile cracking through.
"Calm down, honey, it'll be fine." He put emphasis on the pet name, his voice just a bit lower than normal. Your eyes widened, surprised at every part of it, even more so as he placed a hand on your bare thigh.
"You okay?" He quipped, reaching across your lap for the remote, turning the show back on. Spencer gave your thigh a soft squeeze, enjoying this intimacy with you and the confusion that was written on your face.
"Did you lose your mind, Spence?" You felt like omething was short circuiting or misfiring in your mind because this isn't your Spencer. Your Spencer is nervous, fumbles with his words, making the most out of pocket comments in any situation, he doesn't do wel| with physical affection.
This Spencer was touching you, on purpose. He seemed so calm, do relaxed that it was managing to put you on edge.
"What? What're you talking about, dude?" Spence furrowed his brow, shaking his head lightly. "You're gonna be my wife in like a year, we can't start fighting the day we get engaged, it's a terrible look."
"The shoot tomorrow is gonna be chill, I was texting lan about it. Everyone at work is gonna know that it's fake so we'll be okay. He said that we're gonna stick to poses he seemed 'subtly romantic, whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean." Spencer was nonchalant, waving his hands around a bit as he spoke.
You nodded slowly, brows furrowed.
"Okay, yeah, that's fine. But what does that mean? Are they gonna make us be all cute and cuddly?" You sighed, nerves evident.
"Aren't we already?"
You would find out the following morning after the two of you arrived early to the building, clocks just shy of 7AM.
You rubbed your eyes, yawning as you entered wardrobe together, quickly being pulled in opposite directions to get ready. Spencer found his mind wandering to you as he went through the motions, curious about how it looked for you, what your time was entailing. You two finally met again at the front of the office, where you're greeted with a small group. Kiana, Spencer, and Brennan chatting as they awaited you.
You couldn't help but take in the simple outfit Spencer wore, it suited him well. He had a short sleeve, olive green button-up on, paired with dark khakis. It fit him so well that you knew Ki had picked it.
Spencer was glad to be ushered out of the building, finding himself speechless as soon as his eyes landed on you. You had on a tea length, light green dress. It had soft layers, accenting everything about you so beautifully; swaying with you as you walk.
Kianna had been saving the dress to gift to you, but as soon as she read the email, disregarding whether or not it was a joke, her heart called for it. She had the vision in her mind in an instant.
She's always known about the feelings you and Spencer had for each other, but couldn't bring herself to spill your guys' secrets. So she adapted early on, deciding to constantly poke at the two of you, dubbing you two work spouses.
Somewhere in the years since it started, as your feelings grew for each other, and Kiana heard everything from both of you, all she wanted was for the two of you to get together. She was so beyond excited with the stupid situation you'd put yourselves in.
Brennan drove the three of you out, both Spencer and you surprised to find that this was going to be a location shoot.
Kiana explained the ideas to you, talking about the field she had found that she thought was adorable. She went over some of the photo ideas, showing the two of you some references. She grinned as she spoke, evidently excited.
"Kiana, please take a deep breath, you're making me anxious." You laughed a bit, brows furrowed as she rolled her eyes. "I'm just excited, it's gonna be so cute and I'm excited to see y'all all cuddled up together."
She cackled a bit, turning around to grin at the two of you as Brennan tried to stifle his laughter.
With all the effort Kiana had already put into this, you could only imagine the delight she's taking in this.
Once you arrived, you stretched, yawning as Spencer approached you, tangling his fingers with yours, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. You smiled brightly up at him, turning after a camera shutter sounds off. You find Kiana behind the lens.
On instinct you raise your free middle finger at her, used to this treatment already. Spencer copied you, his mind on the exact same page as yours.
Another shutter as Brennan and her laugh, Kiana giving a thumbs up as you and a Spencer hold in laughter.
"You guys nailed it, that's the perfect vibe for the shoot. Go get lost in the field while we set shit up." She waves you off, popping the trunk of Brennan's car.
Spencer hums the theme for Animal Crossing as you wander, laughing softly.
"This is chill, right? Like, Ki didn't pick out terrible stuff for us to do like, pose wise." Spencer shrugged as the two of you came to a stop. You stood, squinting as you faced him, the sun shining brightly now.
"I'm cool with everything, but can we agree to say something if we're not cool with it?" You held up your hand, your pinky finger extended to him.
Spencer scoffed, linking his finger with yours and shaking.
"Hell yeah, dude," He laughed as he kept shaking your intertwined hands. "Consent is key."
You doubled over in laughter, clutching your stomach as you shook your head. Spence rested his hand on your shoulder after a few moments, trying to calm you down.
"You really are The Chosen, Shayne was so spot on." Spencer rolled his eyes, pulling you into a hug. You rested your head on his chest, your arms wrapped around his waist.
You smiled as you finally caught sight of Kiana and Brennan positioned in front of you two. They were far enough away to be out of earshot, done purposefully by Kiana's call, but close enough for Brennan to work his magic.
Everyone of you had a very busy day ahead, so this would be a quiet time for each of you to enjoy.
You lifted your head, pulling Spencer's attention as he followed your gaze, laughing softly.
"You think they've been there a while, babe?" He asked, his tone shifting in the same way it did yesterday. He pressed a kiss to your forehead, squeezing you softly as you smiled at the camera.
You shifted a bit, chewing your lip as you tried to pretend that his tone and names didn't have an effect on you.
"They definitely have, I think Ki's gonna cry soon." You stated, turning to smile at Spencer, your heart melting as your eyes met. You played the moment up as he chuckled, knowing you were right, you cupped his cheek softly. Spencer followed your lead, resting one hand on your waist as his other rested atop your hand on his face.
"Oh shit," Spencer jumped a bit, Kiana's gasp heard as loud as could be as you two separate. He dug in his pocket for a second before grinning. "You need this."
He held his hand out, presenting your ring to you. It had completely slipped your mind, the conversation with Erin felt like it happened days ago.
It was a simple ring, but it was perfect. The silver band held a single faux diamond.
"Erin said it's stainless steel and cubic zirconia, you can wear it as much or as little as you want to, I think." Spencer spoke as you laughed, holding up your right hand, giving him the chance to slip on the ring for the first time.
The both of you could feel an intimacy in this moment, a shift in the air.
"Wrong hand!! Wrong hand, no!" Screams pulled your attention from the moment as Ki and Brennan frantically yell at you two, waving their hands around wildly. You two laugh as you lift up your left hand now. The tension you both felt in the moment had dissipated quickly, Spencer making no show of putting it on now.
You fiddle with it for a second before flicking your ring finger to the pair that had interrupted your bubble. Spencer laughs as the camera shutters again.
You liked to imagine that everytime your heart fluttered was when Brennan shot, because you hadn't noticed the sound again until now, so lost in your time with your best friend. He breaks you from your thoughts as Spencer grabs your waist, bracing your back with his other arm as he spins you away from the camera. He dips you as your mixed laughters fill the air around you once again.
The two of you spend a bit longer together, Kiana yelling instructions for how to pose before calling you in closer. The closer shots were very full of natural smiles and laughter, as your small group continued to crack each other up.
You soon wrapped, finally checking your phone, finding it just past ten in the morning. Your stomach growled as you all piled into the car again, agreeing to hit a drive thru.
"I'm honestly really upset with the two of you." Brennan spoke solemnly as Spencer and you slummed into the backseat, out of his eyesight in the rearview.
"I'm gonna be editing all day because there were too many good shots. I'm gonna have to stare at you two all day long."
You arrived back to the office, Erin's schedule, the one she rushed to add to your calendars this morning as you both changed, directed you towards the Pit stage.
Kiana was quick to push you two back to wardrobe, claiming that you couldn't wear your same outfits, it would out everything.
You slipped your jeans back on, and opted for a black pizza place shirt you kept at your desk. You greeted Spencer back at the stage, finding him in the same pants, now with his navy blue shirt from this morning.
Two identical yellow stools sat centerstage, a table placed in front of it. The lighting seemed more dim than usual, and maybe a more warm toned, too.
Eventually the pair of you were situated at the table, being told over and over again to scoot closer as they check the framing for the cameras.
"Okay!" Kiana clapped loudly as Spencer adjusted himself on the stool, looking to you with furrowed brows. You two were used to being close and touching, but it felt weird on camera.
You both decided to keep the physical affection to a bare minimum on screen, not wanting the internet to run too far with their ideas. It didn't mean the two of you were great at remembering that, but for the most part, this was the closest you two had been durning filming.
The weight setting in as you realize this would also be the first video with just you two, and it was a big joke.
You giggled a bit, earning a glare from Ki that silences you quickly.
"We're gonna do our announcement video. wanted to wait until you guys were more comfortable with faking a relationship, but we need this in case it leaks or anyone posts anything about it." She grinned, nodding. The both of you nodded along, Spencer rubbing his palms on his pants nervously.
He felt like he wanted to scream at the top of his lungs until his voice gave out. There wasn't a project Smosh had presented to a Spence that scared him, but he was a bundle of nervousness and terror right now. He was so scared by how natural all of this came to the both of you, granted, it had only been the one photoshoot. Still, the ring on your finger that you continued to fidget with weighed so heavily on his heart; he wanted so badly for it to be real.
"Spence? You good?" You ask, smiling softly as you glance at him, taking his right hand in your left, squeezing it gently. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath as he felt the cold metal of the ring press into his skin.
"Yeah, let's do this shit." He nodded, squinting his eyes as he smouldered at the camera, causing you to chuckle.
"Okay, let's do an intro, just introduce yourself and your roles, then you guys can take any explaining you'd like to do from there." Kiana grinned, giving you guys two thumbs up as she stood offstage.
You tooka deep breath, giving Spencera small hug before settling back in place, smiling brightly.
"Hey guys," You grin, waving at the camera.
"The editors are taking over the channel, Shayne and Courtney are no more." Spencer grinned, laughing softly. You rolled your eyes at him as Shayne's laugh is heard off camera.
"If you don't know who we are by now, this is Spencer." you gesture to the man beside you as he waves at the camera. "He's an editor here, and my best friend."
"Thank you, thank you. My college here with me today is Y/N." He began, grinning softly as he watched you pose, resting your head on your hands. "She's also an editor here, she's my best friend, and she's my fiance.'
He swiveled back to the camera, grinning brightly as you squealed, holding your left hand out proudly to the fans. A bright blush was apparent across your cheeks and Spencer's.
"So yeah, that's what this whole video is about today, which is probably a big shock to you guys, so we'd like to explain a little bit." You smiled brightly, grabbing Spencer's hand from his thigh to intertwine your fingers.
"Ki, how long have we been together? Cut this part, also, just, yanno.." Spencer trailed, waving his other hand around as he squinted, looking for Kiana.
"I'd say no less than two or three years." She shrugged, a few people mumbling in agreement.
"Four?" You shrugged, as Spencer mirrored your movement squeezing your hand.
"Cool, all good now, carry on." He laughed, as you shook your head, smiling at him as he began to get back on track.
"We've actually been dating for a little over four years now" He chuckled, chewing his lip glanced over at you. "We kinda just kept it to ourselves for a while, unintentionally. Like, we already posted about each other and cuddled and did super couple-ly shit, so the title change wasn't a big deal."
You couldn't stop yourself from staring at Spencer as he spoke, sounding so sincere and genuine that it tugged at your heart strings.
"We did also talk about keeping it from you guys, which wasn't easy, but we liked having the privacy of our relationship; it was fun to think that no one but us knew about us." You turned a bit, bumping your knees with his as Spencer stared down at his lap, grinning. This felt unreal. He couldn't believe this was something you two were in for together.
"We didn't intentionally keep it from everyone at Smosh, though!" You were quick to defend yourselves, eyes wide.
"That was an accident, but they found out when we moved in together, like, two years ago, so it's all cool now!" You grinned, winking at you gave the camera a thumbs up, Spence unable to contain his laughter beside you.
"It was just because we weren't quite prepared for how everyone on the internet would react, more so me than Spencer." You chuckled as he raised his brows, shrugging.
"Now I'm excited as fuck!" You grinned, bouncing in your seat a bit as Spencer laughed again.
He huffed, rolling his eyes as he pouted.
"C'mon, we're gonna have to edit that." He spoke low, causing you to fall into a fit of laughter, which spurred Spencer into a fit of his own. You two continued laughing for a bit, wiping tears when you calmed down, mindlessly creating more work for yourselves, again.
"We figured since we were gonna tell you guys about it, or since the internet figures everything out, why not make it more interesting? Plenty of people around Smosh have gotten married, sure." He scoffed, waving his hand as he spoke, feigning seriousness. You couldn't contain your giggles as Spencer spoke, nodding along with everything he said.
"Not once in those weddings were both of the parties Smosh employees, let alone two that were shipped online already!" He exclaimed, wrapping his arm around your shoulders, tugging you into his side for a warm hug.
You wrapped your arms around his waist as you grinned at the camera, resting your head on his shoulder.
"What all of that means is that this wedding is a pretty big deal for everyone here at Smosh. Especially with so many of our close friends being our coworkers." You spoke, gesturing to the people behind the cameras. A small cheer rang out from a few people in the crew, causing the both of you to smile.
"Soon, we will be uploading wedding themed Smosh videos!" You squealed, jumping a bit as you squeezed Spencer before you sat back onto your stool.
"We're not gonna do like, wedding videos, but themed ones, kinda like how the Smosh Games series worked. That means you're gonna get to see our usual content, just with a wedding twist. We have a Wedding Party Try Not to Laugh planned, right, Ki?" Spencer grinned, feeling the excitement bubbling in his chest the more he spoke.
Kiana called out an excited 'yes', her thumbs up again as some cheers erupted from the crew. Spoiling an upcoming video was not a concern for her at the moment as she watched her two best friends fall more in love with each other.
Ki was thankful that the lights were still bright enough to keep her from your sights as she stood, teary-eyed, her hands clutched at her chest.
"I think we have some video games, maybe a couple of our other original series too!" You grinned, nodding as you looked to Spencer, finding him already looking at you.
You two were pulled away as Kiana called for an outro. You were quick to start the end card part, glad to have an excuse to stop yourself from staring into Spencer's blue eyes.
The two of you quickly took off your mics before heading in opposite directions for lunch. You brought up the idea this morning on your way in together.
You were worried that Spencer would get tired of seeing you so much, especially with everything happening this quickly.
He was quick to insist that your assumption was false, claiming he'd spend forever with you, winking. Spencer was allowed to make these jokes now, you two were literally, well, more technically engaged. Still counts.
It was almost ironic when you enter your office to find Spencer eating at his desk.
You had initially headed in the opposite direction to find Patrick, needing to talk to him about a scene in a new skit.
You couldn't seem to figure out how exactly he wanted to timeline to run in the video, so it was fairly important.
After no luck with your search for the writer, you headed back towards your office, settling on ordering delivery.
You sat in your chair beside him, laughing softly.
"I thought you didn't wanna spend time with me on your lunch break." He chuckled as he wiped his mouth, setting down a container in front of you.
Spencer knew you well enough to order your food for you, expecting to find you seated beside him eventually. You like to make lunch plans with others early, you didn't often eat by yourself. You'd turn up at your desk after not making plans. He cared about you so much, fuck.
You couldn't help the blush the appeared on your cheeks every single time that Spencer did this, no matter how often it was.
He'd come in after you most mornings, greeting you with a kiss on the forehead as he places a coffee on your desk before sitting at his own. He'd check the time before you did, mindlessly ordering lunch for the two of you as you got lost in your work. You had a habit of accidentally working your way through your break, unless Spencer set a box in front of you, unaccepting of any money you tried to give him.
It was the little things that made you fall in love with you best friend. Love wasn't a word you used to describe your feelings to Kiana, scared you'd have to watch her explode, but you knew you were in love with Spencer.
You love him, romantically, and he loves you, platonically. That's fine.
"Spencer, I love spending time with you," You huffed, pouting softly as you popped open the box, finding your go-to order inside.
You hold your left hand up between the two of you. "I'm literally, technically about to spend forever with you, dude."
He laughed, flicking you off as he placed his headphones on, choosing to squeeze in some editing on his lunch break in-between your shoots.
In reality, Spencer didn't think he could spend his break talking to you like everything was normal. He still wanted to scream, maybe until he passed out now.
You scrolled on your phone, occasionally nudging the man beside you to show him something, Spencer huffing a breath of air out of his nose each time.
When you stood, Spencer was quick to pull off his headphones, rubbing his eyes a bit.
"Call time, big boy." You chuckled, reaching your hand down to rub his shoulder softly before you made your way towards the Pit set, again.
Spencer followed behind you, brows furrowed when his eyes landed on a certain someone standing on the stage. He subconsciously knew you had stopped to stare in confusion too.
