22) for hunter toh mabby? (idk if ur still taking asks about it but heyyy i figured i'd send it lmao 😭😭🦆)
I’m always taking asks! I love hearing myself talk! 😎
Tumblr media
And why would you apologise for this little fella. He’s precious ✨🦆✨
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?
I don’t read nearly as many TOH fics as I read Layton and Miraculous ones (and even then, I tend to write much more than I read) but Hunter salt in general rubs me the wrong way. He definitely gets more love than he does hate, but there was a weird period between S2 and S3 during which certain fans got fed up of “seeing his face everywhere” (ie, that he Sparked Joy™ for other people). Huntlow also got a lot of heat simply for being a thing, which thankfully dwindled down after Dana confirmed they were a queer couple (there’s a lot to unpack there about gatekeeping in LGBTQ+ spaces, BUT this is not the topic the day).
On a somewhat related note, aspec headcanons make me very happy, especially when they coincide with Huntlow! It’s a great way to explore the spectrum in its totality. 🖤🩶🤍💜
Anyway. Bird boy (another one)! ❤️🐥
Tumblr media
Thank you for the ask! ❤️🐥

7: Have tattoos?
I do have one, i'll link you the other answer i attached it to: LINK
8: Want any tattoos?
I do have several ideas, most of them music related in some way shape or form. I just need to figure them out properly both content and placement, 'cause i need to think unreasonably long about these. The one i'm toying with the most currently is one of the bird scketches that were done for of mice and men's echo album. But there is some figuring it out with it still. I also have an idea of an upper arm thingie with tentacles for some time now. Nothing is set in stone so far 'cause i currently i don't have the extra funds but soon. Y'all gonna see it probably when any new ink happens anyway, cause i use my blog as a blog when stuff happens.
44: A random fact about anything
Not gonna repeat the wombat poop one don't worry. But we staying with animals 'cause why not. Let's go with the sea unicorn's name because love how creatures get their names. Not the scientific ones but the common ones. Etymology is fun, especially as someone who is definitely not an etymologist. Now back to narwhals.. I'm sure it's a well known fact but i still love it.
Narwhal basically means "corps whale". Which sounds unreasonable cool for something looking that cute (they are so sweet, always smiling. look them up, you'll see). It is derived from old norse: "nár" meaning "corpse" and “hval” meaning “whale”. Pretty straightforward. Appearently the corpse part refers to their colour, with the greys and the dotted.. what's the word.. mottled! patterns, which makes them something akin in looks to a drowned corpse. (Also at summer they tend to just float around at the water's surface like logs and look like they are kinda dead.)
Which i can see to be honest, but still find it really fun that when it got it's name that was the first thing that came to mind? Like.. how did it went? "There is the cutest faced sea creature with a horn, kinda coloured like that washed up corpse over there.. let's name it after that!" or "Friend look that horned whale creature floating there is dead. OH NO IT MOVED, IT'S NOT DEAD, LET'S NAME IT DEAD!"
Anyway.

notes: This is proof read but could have missed some stuff. This is my first corpse fic and my first time writing fanfic since I posted that super cringey book on wattpad when I was like 12 or something. I’d appreciate feed back so please reach out to me :)

read part 2 here!
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
You were cleaning up your station so you can get home and stream. You loved your day job as a tattoo artist but you also really enjoyed streaming. It started as a way to promote yourself as an artist and the shop you worked at but it eventually became a really fun way to destress at the end of the week (or day if you were really itching to stream). “Hey Y/N was that your last client?” your boss, KC, asked as she walked to the front of the shop and put new flash drawings on the walls.
“Yes ma’am!” You said back excitedly. You finished cleaning your station and tossed your black gloves in the trash. “And you can’t trick me into staying and taking walk-ins,” you joked with her. She rolled her eyes and walked back into her office “It was one time,” she said as you slid on your jacket. As you walked out your phone buzzed in your pocket and you checked to see who had texted you. It was a message from Sean asking if you were free to play Among Us with him and some other streamers. You replied that you were on your way home right now and totally down. You were excited to see who was playing this time around since their Among Us streams are super entertaining and have gotten really popular.
On your way back you tweeted and posted to your Instagram story that you’d be streaming soon and set up all your stuff once you made it home. After a few minutes, you had a couple of thousand people watching. You entered the discord chat and Sean spoke up. “Everyone this is Y/N she’s sensitive so be gentle.”
“It’s nice to finally meet you guys and I’m not gentle, I'm ruthless,” You say into your mic and notice the chat calling you a liar. Everyone was in the lobby waiting for the game to start. “You sound way too sweet to be ruthless,” Corpse said. The countdown started and you were imposter with Charlie.
“This should be fun,” you told the stream. Yout tried playing strategically but after such a long shift your brain was mush. You saw Poki in nav and killed her then vented into shields. Not long after the body was reported and you were sure you were going to get voted out or at least sussed.
“Where was the body?” Felix asked. “Nav and I didn’t see anyone near there so whoever is imposter must have vented,” Corpse responded. Felix spoke up again. “I think I saw Y/N walk that way and I haven’t seen her since.”
Shit, shit, shit shit. “I’m in shield right now so-” you said trying to defend yourself but Charlie spoke up. “I was doing tasks with her earlier and I saw her walk into shields so she’s safe but I’m still not sure about Rae.” Everyone discussed a bit more and some people, including Corpse, voted for you but Rae got the majority vote and was ejected. You released your breath and kept playing being extra careful.
“Okay, guys that was super close. Corpse knows and is out to get me,” you said to the chat. You were eventually voted off but one round later victory was written across your screen with your ghost and Charlie’s avatar. “Good game guys,” Corpse said.
“I told you guys I was ruthless!”
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
You sat at your station doing nothing because a client had canceled a four-hour session. You were listening to music and sketching some stuff but you were bored out of your mind and you didn’t want to leave in case you got a walk-in. The music got quiet as you received a twitter notification saying someone had messaged you. You reached for your phone and saw you had gotten a dm from Corpse.
C: hey :)
You didn’t know what to respond. You were mostly confused as to why he decided to message you out of the blue. Did he want something? But what would he want?
Y: Hii! This is sudden
C: was i bothering you?
    shit sorry!
Y: Youre fine I wasn’t doing anything rn
C: how has your day been
i dont usually do stuff like this
Y: Im glad you did im doing better now I was so bored
C: what were you doing that was so terrible
Y: NOTHING! thats the problem :(
C: im sure youll find something to do
You stared at his message. Unsure what to respond.
Y: Im gonna give myself a tattoo
C: what?
    NO!
You tossed the needles you used for your tattoo into the sharps box. “Oh my god you didn’t,” KC said. She noticed the wrap on your calve from the tattoo you just gave yourself out of boredom. “It’s not my fault I didn’t have anything else to do!” You said trying to defend yourself. She sighed and just shook her head. “Just go home business is slow today.” It was raining so the shop probably wasn’t going to get a walk-in anyway and you didn’t have any more clients for the day. It was only 2 pm but you drove home and after making lunch for yourself decided to stream. You weren’t expecting too many people so it was bound to be super chill. Your leg felt sore reminding you of the tattoo. You snapped a quick pic of the fresh jack-o-lantern on the side of your calve and messaged it to Corpse.
Y: [image] it came out nice!
C: thats  super cool actually
i was concerned why you would just give yourself a tattoo but i found your instagram and       youre super talented
Y: Thank you!
For some reason, it felt strange to just have that be the end of your response.
Y: Im about to start streaming if you wanted to watch
    [link]
C: ill be watching ;)
What’s that supposed to mean?
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
You sat in your apartment watching tv, hand lost in a bag of Doritos, and scrolling through twitter. You had stopped paying attention to the anime playing on the screen since you’ve watched it a hundred times and knew you wouldn’t miss anything. It was Saturday and you usually take those days off. Take the time to do chores or meet up with some friends but today you felt like not doing any of those things. As you continue your endless scroll (not helping the twitter addiction you told yourself you’d try to get a handle on) you got a message from Corpse.
C: wanna talk?
You looked down at the message unsure of how to answer. It was a simple yes or no and the obvious answer was yes. You and Corpse had started talking more regularly. You still didn’t have each other’s phone numbers but it was fine. Your conversations weren’t too big-- just you sending him memes, tiktoks, and telling him how much you liked the songs he would drop. Or him complimenting a tattoo you did. Sometimes he’d message you during streams telling you funny stuff his fans would say in the chat and you’d do the same. You learned a bit about each other but nothing too deep or serious. Like how you two lived a few cities away and you both really liked Donnie Darko. When Sean first invited you to that game out of everyone else there you were most excited to meet Corpse. He’s just so sweet and funny. Of course, you’d love to talk to him but you were also itching to talk to him and the last thing you’d ever want to do was make him uncomfortable.
Y: Yeah id love to talk
Here goes nothing.
Y: Wanna facetime or something?
No pressure or anything it could even be a regular call
I think facetime is just my default lol
You sent those last two messages quickly after you had sent the first. You wished you could know what he was thinking. It was killing you to think you had turned him off from talking to you completely. You put your phone down on the couch and went to wash your hand of Dorito dust. When you got back from the kitchen you turned off the tv and tossed yourself onto the couch.
Still no message.
Why am I so fucking stupid?
Just as you were standing up to stretch from sitting on the couch all day your phone buzzed. You reached for it fast and looked to see that it was him. You became super excited still not even knowing what the message said. It could have told you to never talk to him again for all you knew.
C: sure lets facetime
    xxx-xxx-xxxx
You had his phone number. You added him to your small but growing contact list and called. You sat on your couch waiting for a response when he finally picked up the screen was black. It didn’t upset you; you kind of expected it and didn’t care what he had to do to make himself more comfortable during this call.
“Hey,” he said. His voice was raspier than usual.
“Did you just wake up?” You asked and looked at the time. It was about a little past noon and you had only eaten Doritos all day. Shit, you should probably make a decent meal.
“Not that long ago but yeah,” he responded and giggled. That giggle.
“Well, I’ve eaten nothing but Doritos all day while rewatching Ouran High School Host Club, so you’re welcome to join me as I make myself something to eat.”
“Sounds like fun; what are we eating?”
“I don’t know yet,” You said as you stood up and made your way to the kitchen. You opened the pantry and looked. You noticed a can of diced tomatoes and reached for it then checked the expiration date. It was still good. On your counter were some onions and garlic. “How about some tomato soup?”
“Sounds delicious.” you smiled at Corpse and your phone screen not knowing if he was also looking at his screen or not. “You’re really pretty-- you know that?”
“Thanks, but you don’t have to--”
“I’ve already told you what an incredible artist you are so many times I bet you’re tired of hearing it, but you already know what a talented artist you are.”
“That is very kind of you Corpse,” you said to him bashfully as you chopped the onion and opened the can of tomatoes. “But once again you don’t have to reach so far to compliment me.”
“I’m not reaching you are talented and beautiful and--”
“I thought I was pretty.” You could hear him chuckle with a smile on his face. “You’re both,” he said. You could feel your face getting warm from blushing.
“Fuck you you’re making me blush. My face is all hot and stuff.”
He laughed at how flustered you got. “That’s the cutest thing ever.”
You didn’t know how to respond so you just put some olive oil in a pot and tossed in your onions. It became silent but it was a comfortable silence. You turned the stove on and watched the flame for a few seconds. “If it was dark we could pretend we were together and having a bonfire or something,” you said to the phone as you turned the camera to show him the flame (still not 100 percent sure if he was looking at you or not).
“I’ll put it on the list of things to do when you visit me someday.”

EIGHT: Time Is Ticking (T)
Tom’s back in LA, and he’s missing you.
It’s been a while since he’s seen you. Several weeks, since he’d flown over to New York for fashion week. He’d had a great time, and owes a lot to your team for allowing him the opportunity of walking the carpets by your side. As much as he’d tried to understand the world of high-fashion, Tom hadn’t quite grasped the point of watching a line of identical models strut down the catwalk in obscure outfits, but he knows he’d sit through it all again if you were at his side. Tom knows he’d do almost anything for you.
It’s hard, now. There’s less than a month left before your relationship is dismantled by PR. In order to stir up some doubt about the status of your union, Tom’s under strict instruction he’s not allowed to interact with you publicly anymore. No Instagram stories, no tweets. No tagging you in his favourite memes because the fans would see it. And of course, Tom just sends the memes through DMs, but it’s different. It’s different, and it feels like hiding, and he hates this feeling of impending doom.
Tom is being crushed by the weight of what’s to come, and he really, really does not want your relationship to come to an end.
“Chin up, moody. Wouldn’t want the wind to change direction and leave you stuck like that.”
Tom grimaces, looking up to see Harrison grinning at him, a brightness in his eyes that makes Tom bristle. He’s so deep within his brooding that the sight of someone feeling so happy makes him annoyed.
“Shut up,” he mutters, bringing up a lazy hand to flip him off. “You’re such a bully, Harrison.”
Harrison rolls his eyes. “Would a bully fly all the way to LA, just to keep you company?” He replies.
Tom snorts. “You’re my assistant, Harrison.” He smirks. “Why don’t you be a good one, and run off and make me some tea, eh?”
“Oh, you’re a twat.” Harrison hesitates, but then much to Tom’s amusement, he stands from the sofa and stretches out his arms. “I will make tea,” he says, “But only because I want some too.”
“Whipped.”
Harrison turns around when he reaches the doorway, raising an accusing eyebrow. “Rich coming from you, Tom.”
Tom doesn’t particularly want to linger on that, so responds by lying down over the large sofa and yawning as he pulls a blanket over his figure. He’s staying in a large rented house in Hollywood, working on his new film. It’s a rare day off, which means he’s spending his time getting harassed by Harrison and trying not to let his thoughts descend down same rabbit hole he’s been circling since he realised how near your relationship’s expiration date is.
Tom hates feeling powerless. He hates that there’s no way out of this. It’s not like he can ask to extend the contract - what right would he have to do that? He’s sure you’ll be eager to get back into the dating game, keen to leave him behind. The arrangement has done so much for your image already, Tom’s almost certain you’ll be out of it the moment you can. But he’ll miss you, and he’ll miss openly tagging you in memes and watching the fans coo over your relationship, and he’ll miss walking down red carpets with his hand on your lower back. He’ll miss you beyond anything he could comprehend, and that thought is truly terrifying.
“A tea, for Mr Hollywood.” Harrison reappears, carrying two mugs of steaming brews. Tom smiles, looking up from the sofa to watch as his friend clumsily places one of them down on the coffee table, a line of brown liquid spilling over the top.
“You spilt a bit just there,” Tom points out, grinning mischievously when Harrison snarls at him.
“Anyone ever told you that you’re a proper wanker?”
Tom laughs as Harrison sits down on the edge of his sofa, pushing Tom’s feet off the cushions. “I’ve heard that once or twice, yeah,” he replies, thinking of you, and you, and you.
Tom can’t stop thinking about you.
There’s a few moments of silence, and Tom can feel Harrison gearing up to say something. He has that perplexed expression on his face - his eyebrows pulled together, eyes shifting around almost guiltily.
“Are you okay?” Harrison asks, after what feels like an eternity of watching him open and close his mouth. “You’ve been a bit… stressed, recently.”
Tom shrugs, finally sitting up so he can start drinking his tea. “I am stressed.” His fingers go to the bridge of his nose. “Everything’s so messed up.”
“With Y/N?”
Tom shrugs haplessly. “I’m not allowed to see her.”
Neither of you had known that the last time you’d be seen together, happily, would’ve been a restaurant date last week. Tom hadn’t known as he’d pulled out your chair that it’d be the last time he’d perform the action, hadn’t known as he’d played footsie with you under the table that it’d be the last time he’d make you laugh. Management plan to reunite you in four weeks for your ‘break up’, but the circumstances then will be far different to the night you’d spent together, drinking wine, dining fine, and holding hands across the table. Tom would have done so many things differently if he’d known that would’ve been the last chance he’d had to kiss you.
Harrison raises his eyebrows. “You’re not allowed to be seen with her,” he corrects. When Tom looks at him blankly, Harrison reaches out to hit at his knee. “Mate, you’ve got a day off today. What’s stopping you from seeing her?”
Tom blinks a few times. “But… They said we aren’t allowed to.”
“And? Fuck them. We can work something out.”
Tom takes a sip of his tea, looking up at Harrison over the brim. “Love you, bro.”
Tumblr media
In the end, it turns out to be a lot more complicated than either Tom or Harrison had anticipated. The house they’re renting is tucked up in an exclusive part of the Hills, and the gates are always lined with paparazzi. If they were to spot you entering the district, it’d be reported that the two of you were on perfect terms, violating PR’s golden rule.
So, Harrison goes out in his car, picks you up, and makes you hide in the backseat when you go past the gates. Tom stays behind, but he’s there to greet you when you fall out the back of the car, grimacing and stretching out your sore muscles. You’re in a pair of sunglasses and there’s large hoodie pulled up over your head, and you light up when you see him.
“Hey,” you greet, hobbling over to Tom. You press your lips to his cheek, and the touch makes him smile.
“Hi, darling.” One of Tom’s hands goes to your shoulder, and the other pulls down your hood and pushes up your sunglasses before he has time to really think about it. He just wants to see your pretty eyes again, and his heart softens when you blink up at him, smiling warmly. “Sorry about Haz. I hope it wasn’t too uncomfortable for you.”
You roll your eyes, turning around to look at where Harrison’s sitting in the front of the car. Seeing both of you staring, he waves sheepishly.
“It was alright,” you say. “I mean, hurt a bit. He made me hide in the footwell. But it should be worth it.” You smile up at Tom, almost shyly, rocking back on your feet. “Harrison’s going out for a few hours, but he said he’d take me back home afterwards. So…” You trail off, stepping a little closer. Tom’s breath hitches as your hands wind around his neck, and all he can focus on is the scent of your sweet perfume. “What are we going to do?”
Tumblr media
Tom starts off by giving you a grand tour of the house. You gasp and coo as he guides you around, and you don’t shake off his hand when he slips your fingers together - in fact, you only seem to sink further into him, leaning into Tom’s arm, cheek on his shoulder. Tom loves the feeling of you so close again, but it messes with his head. There is turmoil wrestling in his heart, and it’s growing worse by the second.
“So, that’s the place,” he finally says. You’ve finished up the tour in the kitchen, and you’ve made yourself at home sitting on the polished marble counter. Tom watches as you swing your feet, your customised converse hitting off the cabinets. “What do you think?”
He doesn’t know where to stand, what to do, where to look. There’s a hot flush at the back of his neck, and Tom finds himself nervously standing back against the cupboards across from you, trying his best to meet your eyes. He doesn’t know why he’s finding it so hard to look at you, but the tightness in his chest is almost painful. It’s as if his body knows that heartbreak is inevitable, and it’s trying to do everything in his power to rebel against it.
“Pretty swanky,” you reply. “The bachelor pad to rival all bachelor pads.” You stretch out your hands, looking at Tom curiously. “Why are you so far away?” You ask, almost a whine. “Are you hiding from me?”
Tom realises he’s cowering in the corner of the kitchen and makes a very conscious effort to loosen up. When he sees you’ve still got your hands outstretched, he moves forwards and takes them, linking up your fingers and hoping you can’t feel his sweaty palms.
“Just…” Tom trails off, trying to sort through his feelings. You roll your thumbs over his knuckles, and he settles between your legs, pressing up against the counter as he tries to decide which of his emotions he should part with, and which he should keep close to his chest. You bring one of his hands to your mouth, and Tom’s breath hitches as you kiss gently over his knuckles, looking up at him with warm eyes. “I’m glad I could see you again,” he says slowly, a little distracted by the way you’re continuing to kiss his hands, over and over. “I wasn’t sure we’d be able to meet up again, before the breakup.”
You hum, finally moving his fingers from your mouth. You drop his hands, and Tom rests his palms on your knees. In return, you drape your fingers over his shoulders.
“Yeah,” you agree, voice quiet. “I’m glad, too.”
There’s silence between you, and Tom can feel your mutual despondence. It’s hard to put into words the feeling, but in your eyes is a weakened sadness he can feel in his heart, heavy and unrelenting.
“Hey.” He squeezes at your knee, and your lips quirk into a slight smile. “At least we have today, yeah?”
“Mm, true.” You seem to shuffle around on the counter, pulling Tom a little nearer. It’s so easy, how you’ve got your arms draped around his neck, your fingers playing with the tips of his hair. Tom stays still as you bring one hand up to his face, tapping with a few fingertips over the warm skin of his forehead. “What’s going on up here? You seem a little off.”
Tom’s smile becomes forced. Of course you, like Harrison, have picked up on his turmoil. You’ve always been able to see right through him.
“Just thinking.” When you raise an eyebrow, Tom bottles it. He can’t talk to you about it. Not when it involves a conversation to do with feelings that will become redundant and unnecessary in four weeks. Your fates are sealed, so what’s the point opening up when doing so will ruin your last day together? “Thinking about how beautiful you are, love. Did I tell you how lovely you look today?”
You seem to like that. Tom smiles genuinely as you bite your lower lip, your hand slipping down to cup his face. He’s so close to you, he can almost count your eyelashes.
“I know you’re just saying that to change the subject, but I appreciate it anyway.” You pause, your eyes alight with something Tom can’t quite place. “You have so many freckles, Tom,” you add, thumb passing over his cheek. “They’re pretty.”
“Thanks,” he replies, voice softer. There’s a warmth in his face, spiralling out from each point of contact, and Tom can’t stop looking at your lips. He wants to kiss you, just for a moment. Just a moment of your lips together, light and easy, like always. He craves it. “Can I kiss you?”
A small smile breaks out across your face, and you nod quickly. “You don’t need to ask, Tom. I like kissing you.”
Tom’s cheeks are hot and his throat feels dry, but he nods. “Okay,” he says. It’s a little awkward now, but you share a laugh, and he knows you feel some of the discomfort in the air. Tom clears his throat, and then closes his eyes, leaning in.
You kiss, slowly, but it isn’t light and easy like he’d wanted. There is no escape from the turmoil in his heart. Tom’s hands slip up to your waist, resting on the curves of your figure as your lips move together, but the whole time you’re connected, Tom feels at odds, conflict rife in his chest. Part of him wants to kiss you forever, but another wishes he’d never touched your lips because he knows he’ll need to pull away in a few hours, and that’ll be the end. He wishes he’d never known how nice it was to feel your lips on his because the pain of knowing he’ll never feel them again is like a sledgehammer to the heart.
“Loosen up, Tom,” you murmur, your mouths still together. You pull away, pressing your forehead to his, and Tom feels you run your hands through his hair. You smell of sweet flowers. “You’re thinking too much.”
He chuckles, the sound coming out through his teeth. Tom tries to unclench his jaw and takes a moment to look at you. He tries to compartmentalise, tries to sort through his feelings, and shelf some of them for a few hours. He doesn’t want to spend your last day together worrying over the future - he wants to spend it wrapped up in you.
“You always know what I need,” Tom murmurs. He smiles at you, and this time it’s easier.
“I try my best,” you respond, your lips mirroring his. Tom kisses you again, and his arms curl around you properly this time. You sink into him, your hands slipping down to hold his back as you push yourself closer. It grows heated quickly, and Tom feels you whine into his mouth when he drags his tongue along your lower lip, his body humming to life with dazzling electricity as he tries to drink it all in. Drink you all in.
“Mm, Tom.” You pull back, breathless, and Tom notes with a smirk that your pretty lips are puffy and inflamed. Your eyes dance with lust, and Tom jumps as you reach down and slip your hands beneath his shirt. Your fingers are warm against his skin, and Tom lets you pull him nearer. “G’nna miss kissing you,” you admit, murmuring. “I love kissing you.” You pause, and Tom’s heart is in his throat. “I love your lips, too. And your hair.” You lean in, kissing Tom’s cheek before nuzzling your face against his head. Your hands drop away from Tom’s back, and he holds you in a tight hug, his eyes watching the way you turn away from him as you bury your face in his chest. “I love your hugs as well.”
“Seems like you love a lot of things about me.” His voice is weak, slightly clipped.
“I do.”
“Funny, isn’t it?” Tom’s still hoarse, his voice failing him.
“What?” You peel away from his chest to look at him, eyes wide. He sees insecurity floating around in your gaze, and he feels a little like he’s shattered you. “What’s funny?”
Tom gulps. “Just, uh, how much things have changed.” He shifts his hands up to your face, cupping your cheeks and trying to coax a smile back onto your face. “Wouldn’t have thought we’d be capable of feeling anything other than hate towards one another. Crazy how a few months can change so much.”
You’re scrunching up your nose, a line forming between your eyebrows. “Well, I suppose.” Your softer tone has gone, replaced by a more rigid sense of finality. Tom gets the very prominent feeling that he’s somehow managed to ruin a special moment, and he fumbles to correct his mistake.
“Anyway,” he mutters. He inhales, and on the exhale, his lips twist back into a slightly suggestive smirk. You sit up straighter, clearing your throat as you toss out your hair and move your hands back to his waist. “I don’t think we were finished kissing, were we?”
Tumblr media
Somehow you end up in the living room, kissing, and kissing, and kissing. Tom feels sixteen again, full of teenage jitters and nervous hands. His palms are sweaty and he can feel the flush on his cheeks, but you don’t seem to care.
**** sfw has left the chat ****
No, you seem perfectly content exactly where you are - which just so happens to be half-naked, laid out over the curves of Tom’s sofa. Somewhere between the kitchen and the bedroom, he’d suggested you bunker down and take a break on the couch, which had spiralled into this: you, bare from the waist down, in only a lacy bra up top, legs spread as Tom burrows himself between your thighs. His hands are on your hips, holding you down as he runs his tongue through your slit, moaning as he watches you unravel above him.
It’d escalated quickly. What had been a few eager kisses in the kitchen had surged to something far greater, and the second Tom had pulled at your waistband and heard you whine in response, he’d been fucked. He’d decided, after the last one night stand, that he’d never take on this activity with you again - not without clearing the air and figuring out which page you were on, but… Well, he couldn’t help himself. What was he supposed to do, stop with his tongue on your clit to ask you if you’d like to dissect the ins and outs of your relationship? As if.
But he knows he has to. Knows it in his bones. Tom is only too aware that today is the last chance he has to make things clear to you, and he’s finally resolved that he’s not going to blow that chance. He just might stall the conversation with a few orgasms first, though.
“Fuck,” you whine. Your hands are buried in his curls as you guide his movements, and Tom lets you use him as a prop. He’s learning your body, mapping you out with his hands and his mouth, and he’s delighted to slip two fingers into your wet heat and feel you cry out in pleasure. “Shit, shit, shit, shit.”
Tom hums, his mouth sucking around your clit. Sounds of your arousal fill the air as he fucks his fingers into you, opening your passage until you’re moaning.
“Tom, Tom.” Your voice is like music to his ears. The loveliest sound, lilted like an angel. He brings his gaze up in response, and Tom feels his cock twitch as he takes in the sweaty glow on your face, the lust in your eyes. “So- so good, fuck.” Your breath hitches and Tom hums against your cunt. “Wait, wait, I don’t- No, I don’t want to cum like this.” You’re pulling at his curls, and Tom immediately pulls away, letting his fingers draw back from your entrance. “Don’t look so worried,” you add, voice breathless, “Just wanna cum with you inside me.”
“Oh.” Tom’s head spins as you pull him above you, and he lets you drag off his shirt. As you run your fingers over his chest, he lets a small curse fall past his lips. “Not got any condoms in here, love,” he mutters. “I’ll have to go and find some.”
To his surprise, you follow him as Tom stands from the sofa, your hand slipping into his. Your other goes up to his mouth, and Tom laughs as you wipe the mix of spit and arousal from his lips before leaning in to kiss him, tenderly. Your mouth lingers on his for a moment, and Tom smiles at you.
“Lead the way, movie star.”
After cursing you out a fair amount, Tom leads you up through the large house. He has to stop every few moments, overcome with a giddy desire to kiss you or run his fingers through your hair, or just look at you, and as he lays you down on his bed and boxes you in with his arms, he feels a deep swell of appreciation for you.
“You’re so beautiful,” he mutters, speaking beneath his breath. Tom groans as you spread your legs and shuffle down the bed, and you push his hips until he’s settled between your thighs, his cock pressing up against your entrance. Tom’s head dips down, and he can’t quite look at your face as he scatters his lips across your collarbones. “I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
“Oh, shush,” you say, giggling when Tom playfully nips at your skin. You’re running your hands over his back. “I’m lucky.” You twist some of your fingers into his hair, and Tom knows exactly what you want.
“Are you ready?” He asks, drawing a line up to your ear with his lips. Tom’s already taken the time marking up your neck, has enjoyed hearing your small whimpers of enjoyment as he’d staked his claim over the column of your throat, disregarding all the warnings from PR. Your voice like honey, mewling for him. He loved hearing those sounds.
“Yes.”
You come together, your figures intertwining as Tom fills you with one slow thrust. He grabs your hands, linking your palms together as he grunts, setting a pace that has your eyes rolling back. It isn’t fast by any means, but there’s purpose behind his actions, an innate desire to please you. He pays close attention to the movements of your body: the gyration of your hips down to meet his, the arching of your back, any hitches in your breath. Tom wants to know every part of you, and you’re spread open like a book for him.
“Love it,” you whimper, your face a picture of pleasure. The hand not joined with Tom’s slips between your figures, and Tom adjusts himself so you have access to your clit. He wishes, briefly, that he would’ve been able to unravel you on his tongue earlier, but when you cry out and clench around his cock, he knows this is better. This is so, so, so much better. “So good, Tom.”
His lips move over your skin, kissing you, and after a while of Tom paying special attention to the base of your neck, you tug at his curls and bring him back to your face, kissing him. There’s a sense of deep understanding between you - mutual enjoyment as he works you up with deep, fulfilling thrusts. Tom kisses you until he runs out of air, and fucks you until you’re whimpering.
“Feels so fuckin’ tight around me, darling,” he murmurs. “Gorgeous girl.” Tom wishes he could find a way to immortalise this moment. “Are you going to cum for me, lovie?” You nod, and Tom pecks your lips a final time. “Go on, then, sweetheart. Let go.”
Your climax triggers his own, and Tom feels you spasm around him as he spills into the condom. You cradle his cheek in one hand, and you moan into his mouth as you move together, bodies perfectly in sync. Tom’s almost shaking, his body on fire as he gradually slows down, his eyes full of a shaky film of tears. His length slips out from you as he pants for breath.
**** sfw has entered the chat ****
Like last time, Tom finds respite on your chest as he recovers, your hands finding home in his hair as you soothe him with your touch, calming him, grounding him.
“Fuck,” you exhale, voice a breathless whisper. Tom tilts his head, looking up to meet your eyes, and he quickly blinks back the tears that hang thick in his gaze. “Are you alright?”
Tom nods. He’s got a lump in his throat, so is quick to pull away from you fall beside you, sinking into the mattress with a shaky sigh. One of his hands rests on his stomach, the other linking with yours.
“Yeah,” he mumbles, looking over at you. When he sees the concern in your eyes, he kisses the back of your hand softly. “Think I need a tea, or something. Feeling a bit weird.”
You quirk your eyebrow, but hum. “Well, tea can fix almost anything,” you agree. “I can go make you one, if you need to rest.” You’re up and standing before Tom can stop you, and he realises you’d managed to carry all of your clothes to the bedroom. As you start to draw them back on, he pulls himself together.
“I’ll come with you.”
After a brief stop in the bathroom, and with a pair of loose grey sweats hanging low on Tom’s waist, he follows you back through the house, into the kitchen. His mind is spinning at a thousand miles an hour. Now that he’s had you - kissed you, held you, loved you - there’s nothing left. There’s nothing left to stall with, there’s nothing left to lose. Time is ticking by, and one glance up at the clock confirms that he only has about ten minutes until Harrison comes back. That realisation drives a wedge of anxiety into his heart.
“You take it strong with no sugar, right?” You call out. You’ve poured the hot water into two mugs, a deep line carved between your eyebrows as you prod at one of the teabags with a metal teaspoon.
Tom looks at you. He looks at the way you carefully poke the teabag and the way you seem to glow. He remembers the feeling of your hands roaming over him, the sounds of your voice in his ear. He thinks about how happy his heart feels whenever he’s around you, and how stark that contrast is compared to how he used to think about you. Tom’s insides clench as he thinks about the contract, the relationship agreement, the clock that’s counting down on the wall, and he can’t take it anymore.
“Eh? Tom? No sugar, yeah?”
Tom can’t keep it inside any longer.
“I love you.”
What?!
“W-What?” You drop the teaspoon with a clatter. Your eyes are wide, posture stiff all of a sudden. Complete and utter shock sticks to your features.
Tom finds himself stammering, his brain catching up, slowly, to the furious beating of his heart.
“I- I love you.” He doesn’t know what he’s saying, doesn’t know where to look. “I…”
You look shocked. Tom isn’t sure he’s ever seen someone so astounded before. Immediately regret pangs in his chest, and he finds himself cursing himself for opening his big, selfish mouth and ruining everything between you. He can see your eyes darting everywhere, resting on the front door, and he panics.
“-No… Wait, no.”
“No?” You have a hand on your hip now, your face the picture of hurt confusion.
Tom’s hands clench into fists at his side, and he knows he’s made a mistake. He had been prepared to ask you to stay, to tell you he wanted a relationship. He had not been prepared to tell you that he loves you, least of all because he himself hadn’t considered the possibility until he’d blurted it out. Why’s he picked now, out of every other moment, to profess this love for you, infuriates him. You’re looking at him, flabbergasted, and Tom can practically see your fragile friendship disintegrating before his eyes.
“I mean- I- I got confused. Sorry, Y/N.” Tom’s running a hand through his hair, his face on fire. “Sorry, I… The feelings get confused. The- The lines between what’s real, and fake. Especially with the- the-”
“The sex.” You’re almost nodding now, stroking at your chin, but Tom can see the pools of hurt in your eyes. “It gets confusing, doesn’t it?”
Tom manages a tight laugh. “Yes. Yes, it gets very confusing.” You’re in agreement, but he knows you aren’t on the same page. You are so far from the same page, he wonders if you’re even reading the same book. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s... okay.” You rock back on your feet.
A silence descends between you, and Tom can’t say a thing. Can’t think a thing. His brain is trapped, moving between you, and you, and you, and his heart. Does he actually love you?
Tom hasn’t ever contemplated the fact that he might, actually, love you. He knows he wants to be with you, knows he does not want you to walk out of his front door - but love? Maybe it’s crossed his mind, once or twice. Or a few times.
Staring at you now - at the way your eyes are full of tears, and your hands are shaking at your sides - Tom feels it. With a sick, twisted stroke of fate, he realises he’d been speaking from within. Tom realises that he loves you.
It’s been the small things. The way you are so competitive, the ambition that you bring to everything you touch. Tom remembers the day he’d gone to the cinema and found himself in pieces over your performance, in admiration over your ability to take him to another world. He thinks about your trip to London, and how easily you’d slipped into life with him - his family loves you, his dog adores you. He adores you.
Shit, Tom adores you. He loves your smile, and your laugh, and almost every single thing about you. And he’s absolutely fucked it.
“I’ve made things really awkward now, haven’t I?” Tom mutters, scratching at the back of his neck. He hopes you can’t make out the outline of his heart, beating painfully quickly in his chest, but you seem to be avoiding looking at him. He doesn’t know what to do: backtrack and tell you that he, for a second time, spoke inaccurate feelings? Tom knows that’ll just further hurt your friendship, add insult to injury. It is so clear from your demeanour now that your view of him has soured.
“Yeah.” Your phone buzzes on the counter, and you scramble to pick it up. “Harrison,” you mutter, still avoiding Tom’s gaze. “He’s outside. I’m going to go.”
The path to the front door winds by Tom and he manages to pull himself together just fast enough to reach out and grab your arms, stopping you in your tracks.
“Love.” You aren’t looking at him, even as Tom brings a hand up to hold your cheek. You flinch away, and he immediately drops all contact with your figure, feeling guilt hang heavy in his heart. Tom doesn’t know if he should keep talking or just shut up. He doesn’t want to do more damage by laying out his heart for you, doubts you’ll even care. “I’m sorry.”
You finally look up at him, your jaw set resolvedly.
“It’s fine,” you say. “You’ve never been the smoothest, Tom. You put on a big act in front of the cameras, but I know you.” You reach up to pat his shoulder, but quickly move off as if the contact hurts. “I know who you really are.”
It’s cryptic and layered, and Tom’s still puzzling it as he watches you walk around the living room, collecting your things.
“Do you want to stay?” He asks. You look up as you pull on your jacket, shaking your head.
“No.” You slip your phone into your pocket. “I don’t think we have anything left to talk about, Tom.”
He can’t get a read on you, beyond the fact that you’re hurt. Tom wonders if you’re near tears because both of you know this is the last time you’ll be privately together, or maybe if you’re mourning the loss of your friendship. He knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that his stupid big mouth, with his confused, contradictory statements have tainted the last eve of your relationship. He isn’t sure clarifying it would make it better, even. Your reaction to his initial declaration of love had been one of shock - and that in itself had told Tom all he needed to know about the likelihood of reciprocation. Maybe that rejection had spurred him on to shoot himself in the foot.
Or maybe, simply, he’s a fool.
“Bye, Tom.”
You’re at the door now, halfway over the threshold. He isn’t sure if you’re going to turn around, until you do, and toss out a brief, broken smile. He realises you’re wearing the shoes he’d decorated.
“Bye, Y/N.”
As the door clicks shut with a crisp, cold sound, Tom slumps against the counter and bangs his fist on the marble top. Above the noise in his head and the ache in his chest, one very prominent thought rises to the surface:
He’s fucked it - Tom has fucked it. He’s confused his feelings, and in his attempts at speaking from the heart, he’s managed to tear down the entire structure of your friendship. Your friendship - which has taken five months to construct, and a mere five minutes to completely shatter. With no more scheduled encounters with you before the breakup, Tom knows he hasn’t even got time to fix it.
Tom knows, above everything else, that he has steered your relationship straight into the rocks, and he has done that all by himself. This is completely his fault, and he doesn’t know if he can fix it. But he knows, too, that he has a responsibility to try - a responsibility to try and stick these messy, broken pieces back together. He doesn’t want to lose you.
He knows he needs to try.

2020 May Update
I hope you're all staying safe and healthy during this time of Coronavirus!
We continue towards the finish line, slowly, but surely. Coronavirus did throw a few wrenches in our plans. Our talks with a publisher about a possible sponsored appearance at an upcoming event stalled.
But that was always just a possibility. We have a backup plan. If we didn't win a sponsor, we were just going to pay our own way to a convention. That's what most indies do! Anyway, that's canceled too. It doesn't seem like there'll be any conventions to showcase in the near future...
Nevertheless, we did move forward in other areas. We've got the press materials ready as well as the game's official launch site up. You can view it in its prelaunch state at this link. NOTE, It is in a "prelaunch" state, so some media links are being withheld until reveal time. But there are a bunch of new pictures and artwork you can look at.
You might notice the link reads "phoenotopia.wordpress.com". The plan is to direct "phoenotopia.com" to it in the near future. That means if you wanted to reach this tumblr specifically, you'll have to visit it at its tumblr link, "phoenotopia.tumblr.com" (which, I just noticed doesn't work... huh). Anyway, since this is a dev blog, I'll talk a little bit about the journey of creating the website.
SQUARESPACE vs WIX vs WORDPRESS
I actually tried 3 different services (in the above order), before I settled on wordpress. I did a bunch of researching, and most reviews seemed to point at WIX >= SQUARESPACE >>> WORDPRESS.
I went with Squarespace first, since it was recommended a bunch on some youtube videos I saw (guess marketing works). Even though it didn't win outright in the reviews, my impression of it was "less quantity, but more quality." I tried it and found it serviceable. It was kinda sluggish, with some not so intuitive areas. I had to ask for help a few times for some things that would seem simple ("how do I change the BG and font color and of the music player?", etc).
That was last year, when I *thought* I was near launch and would need a press site soon. One year later (present day), it was time to create a press site again, and since my website with Squarespace expired (I had only signed up for a trial period), it was a good opportunity to try Wix, especially since Pirate had lots of praise for Wix.
My impression of Wix was that it was... too distracting. After I chose a theme, in the editor view I felt bombarded by menus. Everywhere you move the mouse, things kept lighting and popping up. And it was slow. So I guess it was sorta like Squarespace, but maybe even a little worse?
Tumblr media
(Easy ways to preview the website from phones and tablets was one of wordpress’s neat features)
What prompted me to try Wordpress was one of their slogans "35% of the web uses WordPress". If it's good enough for 35% of websites, it's good enough for me! I ended up liking it most of all. It's definitely less featured, which suited me, since I'm not trying to create something too fancy either. Unlike the other website builders which emphasize free-form, wordpress was more rigid. I couldn't drag and drop an element just anywhere - I found that comforting in a "I can't screw this up" sorta way. The most important thing was that it was fast. Loading the editor view to Wix took 11 seconds vs 4 seconds with Wordpress. And the speed advantage of wordpress extends across every action. Similarly, when Chrome launched 10+ years ago, it was also less featured vs Firefox, but it became my choice browser. I guess speed is something I value highly.
Anyway, my experience is from a drag/drop perspective with minimal coding. This is also NOT a paid advertisement. However, if wordpress would like to send some money my way, I would not be opposed... (call me!)
Achievements, Bugfixes, and Cleanup
Lots of small tasks and polish was done over the past 2 months. I finally fixed the time tracking bug - important because the Speed Run achievement depended on it. I also finally finished implementing all the technical stuff for the achievements. There was a bug where some enemies would stack up too many light sources, causing them to appear too bright and drain system resources. That's now also fixed. Lots of other small ones that don't bear mentioning.
A neat trivia about the game is that there's a final super hard achievement for those seeking to prove their mastery over the game. The player has to beat the game having never picked up a heart or energy upgrade. When playing under this constraint, some enemies can even kill the player in one hit! In the game's most current iteration, even I failed to achieve it, so I'm definitely going to have to go in and tweak things a little more.
Age Ratings
I went and got the game's age rating. I did a little research on this - it's quite fascinating. ESRB would be the age ratings board for the United States (where I'm based). But if you were in Europe, you'd get a PEGI rating. Then there's ACB for Australia and so forth. So if you wanted to launch a game globally, you'd have to deal with this process over and over, and each country rates things a little differently... that's a lot of work!
Enter IARC (International Age Rating Coalition), which aimed to simplify the process by being the one standard that you apply to, and from which you could then get the equivalent rating for all participating countries. IARC is an entirely automated process - probably necessary due to the boom of digital titles across all platforms, particularly mobile.
IARC is great for me, because they relaxed the standards for getting a rating. From my understanding, the process used to be more difficult. And you'd have to pay ESRB a hefty chunk to get a rating, but with IARC, it's totally free! So long as it's for digital and it's used only on licensed sites and store fronts. If I wanted to launch the game physically, I'd have to deal with ESRB on an individual basis again.
Without further ado, here's Phoenotopia's IARC ratings:
Tumblr media
Fascinating... Phoenotopia is rated "Mature" in Australia... but for "Horror". Which seems suspect. The horror elements are rare (remember Dreadlands?). But when I was answering their questionnaire, they provided a video example of what they considered "horror", and it was pretty mild. About as mild as my game, so I checked that box. It is what it is...
We also got a "Teen" rating for ESRB for reasons of Fantasy Violence and "Mild Blood". This one is kinda iffy. In the game, if you hit a giant bug, it spits out a few drops of green blood. Does that really count as blood? Ocarina of time skirted by with an E rating 2 decades ago, and it let a dude spit out green blood. However, since IIARC is an automated process, I didn't see any place to dispute. But also, I wouldn't have disputed it anyway. A "T" rating is cooler than an "E" rating!
I'd like to mention this is not a paid advertisement for IARC. However, if IARC would like to send some money my way, I would not be opposed... (call me!)
Submission
I expect to polish the game for about 2 (maybe 3) more weeks. After which, I'll be submitting the game to the console "authority". From my understanding, I'll then have to wait a month while they "inspect" the title. After which, I'm then cleared to have an official launch date - which I'll probably set to be 1 month after getting approval.
So the plan is to have a very short marketing campaign. The reveal trailer will basically drop 1 month before release. And we're going to sprint to the finish line. Some marketing campaigns are 6 months to a couple years. Ours will be one month... Let's hope it works.
Wrench
That's what the plan looks like right now, but there is a possible upcoming wrench in this whole thing. I recently learned that my version of Unity is too old. Games running on old Unity versions are not automatically accepted - so I'll have to apply for an exemption. If the exemption gets rejected, we can't launch without upgrading, which will require *significant* work...
This came as a surprise to me. When I started dabbling in games development a decade ago, the most common advice I found online was "Make Games, not Game Engines." I interpreted this to mean lock in your technologies. There's always going to be a new and shinier bell or whistle, but if you keep chasing it, you're not going to work on the actual content of the game. That's probably what kept me to releasing the original game on Flash. That was a game I was making as a hobby while working a full-time job. By the time I quit my job to go full-time indie dev, Flash had long been a dead technology. But I remembered "do you want to build game engines or games?" And so I pressed forward.
So that mindset could potentially backfire here. If PC was the lead SKU, we wouldn't have these issues since PC is more relaxed as a platform. Consoles, as I'm now learning, have an ever forward shifting window of technologies. If we get rejected for the exemption, there's a couple ways we can play it. One, we go through the pain of upgrading which will take months... Two, we pivot and make PC the lead SKU again, but have to handle porting that plus its specific features, which will also take months...
So why is updating such a big issue? Unity has changed drastically over the years. When I started, it was a lot less 2D friendly. They didn't have an official 2D tilemap solution, so you had to build your own or buy a 3rd party library from their asset store. I used 2DTK for tilemaps - 2DTK is now entirely deprecated. Similarly, I had to search for and purchase a good asset to display crisp text - since you couldn't even do that in Unity back then (heh). That's the story for a lot of old Unity stuff. Think of it as a first mover's "disadvantage".
Hopefully it won't come to that, since I'm pretty spent as a developer. I've been ready for this to be over, and I know many of you feel the same. Hopefully soon! As usual, I'll update in 2 months at the latest (end of June). An update might come earlier if we have some good news to share sooner. Until then!
Fanart and Cosplay
Tumblr media
This first picture comes from roccy_chair and shows Gail basked in light. I like how her pose and equipment together form an "X". That's a neat hidden symmetry. The way she floats also kinda reminds me of Crono's "Shining" spell. Perhaps Gail should have the ability to cast spells? Hmmm...
Tumblr media
Cody G returns with a new art depicting the 2 Moonstone enthusiasts. I like Fran's starry-eyed expression here. That's true love on display. I also like how the Moonstones are depicted as flat and coin-shaped. Very unique! Also note Gail makes an appearance in the back :D
Tumblr media
Thanks to M1shaaa for this cosplay of Gail! There's a lot to like here! The vibrant pink hair. The costume with 3 stitches across the vest. The pose with slingshot, accurate to Gail's depiction in the box art. Amazingly, this might also be the very *first* cosplay of Gail! Will and Pirate both alerted me about it excitedly since they were pretty stoked. We joked that we crossed the final milestone in terms of fandom.

It’d been close to a year since he’d started dating Aidan. A wonderful year. A year that had brought him more joy than he thought possible. But Christmas and Aidan’s birthday on the 27th were looming at him now, along with that one-year anniversary. He had no clue what to get him for either day and this was one time his sisters couldn’t help him.
So he decided to go to Aidan’s sisters, well, one sister in particular.
The entire Delaney clan had come to Lenox for Thanksgiving. Wen Ning had survived the weekend solely because Aidan made sure he could easily escape to have time to himself. Wen Ning just needed the alone time to recharge before heading back out to be social. The Delaneys were very loud and very affectionate and, honestly, very welcoming. Too welcoming sometimes which is why Wen Ning had a few moments where the room felt too small and too enclosed. And yet, somehow, Aidan or Aisling or Finn or Una were always there to get him to a quiet, empty space.
He really did love them. All of them. Even the ones he’d just met for the first time this weekend.
He’d just wished they’d all collectively stopped trying to shove food at him. He didn’t have the heart to refuse any of them and was beyond full. He’d never been so thankful that Wen Qing had come to Aidan’s house and personally made sure he had a Wen Qing approved first aid and medicine cabinet. The economy sized bottle of Tums had become his best friend.
Cate was the sibling closest to Aidan in age. The eldest of ten siblings, her oldest daughter was the same age as Finn. She’d been the first of the non-Lenox Delaneys to meet him and of the grown-siblings was the one he’d grown closest to. Cate was going to be the next head of Delaney Detailing and Repair and she knew more about car specs and how to rebuild an engine block from scrap than anyone he’d ever met.
She was also Aidan’s best friend, and therefore, the logical place to start.
“No clue what to get him for his birthday, right?” she asked as Wen Ning approached her in the finally cleared-out kitchen.
“And Christmas,” he admitted.
Cate sighed. “Yeah, Aidan’s one of those. ‘Oh, I don’t need anything! Just get me a gift card! Or make a donation in my name!’ assholes.” She shook her head. “Bullshit, I say. Like, yeah, that’s fine for people like Great Aunt Betty who still thinks we’re teenagers, but it’s different when you’re dating the guy.”
“Yes,” Wen Ning agreed. “And I’ve done the donations, and an entire round of gift cards for the station’s favorite restaurants and for the grocery store for their in-house meals. And, of course, I have a collection of little things I’ve bought over the year. Just tiny things that reminded me of him. I figured I’d give him that for our anniversary, but for the other two. I’m at a loss. He doesn’t like fancy watches because he can’t use them for work and they’ll get ruined. He only wears the one cologne, and everyone gives that to him.”
“Guilty,” Cate admitted.
“He just upgraded the tv for this weekend, so that’s out.”
“And he’d have an actual heart attack if you bought him something so pricey,” Cate said.
“And ties, cuff links, those are out. He never wears them. Your mother and the Trio have him covered on loungewear. He doesn’t play video games because that’s not how he spends his free time. Your father is buying him a new Kindle.”
“Yeah, Pop called dibs on that one,” Cate agreed.
“So the only ideas I’m left with are a new Bruins jersey, the throwback ones that just came out, and a new pair of Jordans because he refuses to buy them for himself even though he stares them down every time we’re near a Footlocker.”
Cate pointed at him with a stalk of celery. “Those are both perfect ideas! There you go! Get them before anyone else can. I’ll update the group chat.”
Wen Ning shook his head. “They’re not special enough,” he said.
Cate patted his shoulder. “Look, you’re never going to out-sentimental Aidan when it comes to gifts. I swear to god, he learned how to do that stupid wood engraving just to shows us all up in the gift-giving department. Everyone thinks he’s this sweet little angel, but he’s got a competitive streak a mile wide when it comes to the family.”
Wen Ning had seen it, in person, during game nights. He quite liked it, if he was being completely honest. Aidan’s eyes shone with the thrill of victory, even over something as small as winning at-home Jeopardy!
“And honestly, Ning, he’s stupidly in love with you. Like, you could give him a friggin’ plate of cookies alone and he’d start sending texts to the entire family about how amazing and talented you are. He’ll love anything you give him, so no pressure. Really. He’d hate to think you’re agonizing over it.”
They were kind words, especially from Cate who rivaled his own sister at No Bullshit, but he still couldn’t help but worry.
“Seriously, you could give him a coupon for Free Hugs and he’d kiss you and thank you and insist the coupon never expired. You. Have. Got. This.”
**********
Wen Ning didn’t like driving the Expedition. It was just <i>too</i> big, but it was the only vehicle that could easily and safely transport the Trio between Aidan, his cousin Chris, and Wen Ning. And it did have the rearview camera, which helped, along with Wen Ning’s supportive group of backseat drivers.
They all wanted to go shopping for presents, and since Aidan had taken the weekend day shifts, Wen Ning had offered to take the Trio.
“So, when are you moving in?” Una asked.
“Una, not while he’s driving,” Finn said. “Do you want us all to die?”
“What?” she asked. “He’s always at our house anyway.”
“Yeah, because of us, dumbass,” Finn said.
“Don’t call your sister that,” Wen Ning said, looking at them in the rearview mirror.
“Sorry,” Finn muttered.
“I’m not the one you need to apologize to,” Wen Ning said.
Finn rolled his eyes, but he still turned to Una. “I’m sorry.”
“Whatever,” Una said. “My point stands.”
Aisling remained quiet, but she met his eyes in the rearview mirror and shrugged.
“It’s a little soon,” Wen Ning said. “Maybe if we’re still together in a few years, we’ll talk about it.”
“If?” Aisling asked.
“Years?” Finn followed.
“It’s not something to take lightly,” he explained as he headed towards the mall. “Especially in our situation. We’d need to find a bigger house. We’d need to find a place that allowed cats and hamsters, if we decide to rent instead of own. I need somewhere with a big enough yard or basement for practice. And then there’s all the financial stuff. Rents or mortgages and utilities. Not to mention discussions such as what furniture you keep, give away, or buy.” He gave them a sad smile. “It’s not very romantic, I know.”
“Don’t you love Aidan?” Una asked.
That was enough to make him pull over to the side of the road, put it in park, and turn around to stare at the three of them.
“Of course I do,” he said. “I’ve never loved anyone the way I love your brother, but we both have other obligations and not unending sources of wealth like the Lans or the Jiangs. We have to be a little more cautious.”
Wen Ning didn’t say that he’d been waiting for the other shoe to drop for months. That he was waiting for Aidan to decided that hey, maybe a former pro-athlete and current gym teacher--a Wen--wasn’t the best place to lay his love and affection.
He also knew if Aidan ever found out he was thinking that he’d see either one or all of the three faces of Aidan he couldn’t stomach: 1) rare anger 2) disappointment and 3) heartbreakingly sad.
But they hadn’t talked about the future, not in any great detail. They hadn’t talked about the reality of combining their lives, even if they were already so intertwined. And Wen Ning really didn’t want to have that conversation via proxy of the Trio.
“Whenever you decide it’s time, you have our approval,” Aisling said.
“Totally,” Finn agreed.
“And our support,” Una said.
“Thanks, kiddos,” he said. “That means a lot.”
**********
Find your stance. Relax your grip. Notch the arrow. Place your fingers. Draw. Aim. Release. Over and over and over again. Some people had meditation. Some had yoga. Wen Ning had archery.
The reason he’d invested in this house was because of the large basement, long enough and wide enough for a small in-home range. When he’d bought it, he had no real future in mind. It was just him then. He didn’t even have Mr. Tumnus.
Stance. Grip. Notch. Place. Draw. Aim. Release. Repeat.
He had a vision of a future now. A husband. Kids. A place for Chris to work on his art. Guest rooms for their family. A backyard range. No dogs, of course. Maybe more cats. Maybe something else like a ferret.
Stance. Grip. Notch. Place. Draw. Aim. Release. Repeat.
Aidan. His vision for that future was Aidan.
“Hold your fire, Hawkeye.”
Wen Ning dropped his stance. Aidan?
“Aidan?” he said, turning around in surprise.
Aidan grinned at him, still in his uniform.
“The Trio?” he asked.
Aidan shrugged. “Ma’s staying in town a few extra days. So, mind if I crash here for a bit?”
Wen Ning carefully placed his bow and arrow to the side then bound over to Aidan who laughed and caught him.
It was so rare for them to have time completely to themselves.
“I’m taking this as a yes,” Aidan said.
“Mmmhnn,” Wen Ning hummed into his mouth.
Aidan laughed, carefully walking them over to the old, battered couch.
“So, what’s this I hear about if we’re still together in a few years?”
Wen Ning buried his head in the safe space between Aidan’s neck and shoulder.
“Sweetheart,” Aidan said in his distinctive Southie accent. “You get this deer in the headlights look when I try to talk about the future, so I didn’t want to spook you. But I’m here. For you. For it all. Okay? River deep, mountain high, remember?”
“I remember,” Wen Ning said, Those words and that song, the first time Aidan told him he loved him. “It’s still too soon.”
“I know you think that and I respect it,” Aidan said. “So you take your time. I’ll still be right here. Right next to you.”
“You only have a binder full of listings, don’t you?” Wen Ning asked.
“You can’t prove nothing,” Aidan said.

So March through July has been most interesting lately -
So, in short, we are going to call these Arcs (like story arcs). There are five of them right now.
Facts to remember about this person; she’s bisexual, into open relationships, looking for fwb, is on the spectrum, had depression and social anxiety - which is why she smokes.
So I met a coworker who I got along with in march. I thought she was really cool and knowledge, however, I had a strange intuition that something was off with her at the same time. So before all that, I tried inviting her out to some events - concerts and stuff. Cause I thought she was legit cool and whatnot.  She says no to this and eventually, in late April she invites me out to see Avengers: endgame; she does so because she works Fridays and Saturdays, and her friends are busy on those holidays. So I pick up, okay, so im just 2nd pick for this event? So I let it go and I buy our tickets and set the date and time. She cant do it because she is a tech and im just PRS. ( i just answer phones).
1st Arc
So on the movie day, I meet her at her place. her place is very lacklustre, she lives in a one-bedroom with no furniture - which is fine. Her roommate lives in the living room with an airbed. It’s all fine to me, I know the struggle is real. She’s nice enough to offer me coffee and scrambled eggs. I take just the coffee. She goes on a smoke break in her room, she's nice enough to close the door for her roommate.  I sit on the roommate's bed and how she gets off it is odd as fuck; she kind casually brushes her hands along her arm and wrist before asking me to stand up, and it takes her a while to get up and go. Because shes trying to decide what coat she wants to wear. So finally go off, get a ride up to the mall centre in german town. She starts talking about her stories and stuff - and about one time post-banging some freshmen on her sophomore year. I was thinking okay that’s good on you lol. Now the worst part is she starts leaning her head on me afterwards through the whole ride. We get to the movies afterwards, and there two seats left because her dumbass wanted to take her time getting here. So one guy pointed us to two seats left in the crowd. The theatre was packed so what she did was cling to my arm and lean to my shoulder- again. So after the movies, we go to chipotle, and then to the beer & spirits which I pay. Because her ID is expired, how the fuck do you let your Id expire? so I have to get it. We order a lyft head back and drink at her place and play some games. We both had a good time but I left once I saw the roommate had teased her about being autistic and etc. The shoulder leaning thing had me confused - she told me im an associate.
So I bring up the issue with the shoulder leaning issue. So apparent none of that mattered. I got on her about how people can misinterpret that and she said few to interpret that. She gets upset because I bring this issue to mind like a few days. However, she mentioned one time a guy assumed she leads her on. Again she makes it clear we are associates the whole time.
2nd Arc
Next week May 5th we scheduled to watch the game of thrones at her place. I get off at 10:30 pm on a Sunday, and she doesn't work on a Sunday. I  had to buy beer again - because so she meets me at my job. it was quite odd because her excuse for coming was “she was in town and though to drop by”. Nothing wrong with that but it did lead to some speculation. My coworker Gloria kept up asking questions like “Oh did you say hi to her?” “She usually doesn't wear dresses, Kelvin, what do you think?”, “ She doesn't work today here” so yeah it was hinting she knew something. Now after my shift we went to CVS and she offered to buy me snacks and food. She asks if I was sure? Now on this day, I had a sausage, cheese & egg. So I went to her place we had to go into her room since her roommate was sleeping. So she offered popeyes which I took only a wing. I sat by her bed rather than on it because - it felt weird lol. She said I could join her bed rather than sit by it - we are coworkers bruh. She leaves out too. So after smashing like 8- 9 beers I get on her bed because my knees were killing me on that hardwood floor. She comes back like “ It’s about time” so after a while she starts to lean on me again.  So the beer takes its toll - and I start to nod off. So while watching Game of Thrones she would ask some questions. So around season 5 she stops it there - tells me to get my things. Escorts me out to the door of her complex. The original plan actually to use a spare bed but she apparently didn't want to do that. So she escorts me outside 4:00 am in the morning, it's cold as fuck in may. She couldn't stay out because is only clothed in a skimpy sundress and she's anaemic and plus she left her house keys in her house. So understandable but still no check-in. Which contradicts with her usually thing because she would always see if I got home. I got home around 6 am had like only 4 hours of sleep and had to go to work lol- I had a slight headache but I was good. I texted her to see if she was okay, said she was fine and that I was doing too much. I just added that hey you were right that I should have eaten something. Now this issue sparks something on her end, this literally causes her to snap off and she literally bans me from coming to her house.
After dropping her shoes off that she sent to my location because she lives in an apartment complex. we go to the gym together because of her social anxiety, now the fun part is after the gym. I found out apparently I had spilt beer on her carpet and pissed over her toilet while drunk, to be fair her bathroom is really dark. The only light is a night light behind you when you use the toilet. She had an emotional connection with that carpet so I sympathized with it and made to right my wrongs. So she asked only for three meals and me to go to the gym with her for a week. I decided a month because I felt bad about the situation. we agreed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Friday. Wednesday and Thursday are my days off.
3rd Arc
So off to the gym, some days she goes - some she doesn't - but either way I got continuously. Knowing discipline is necessary for progress. But usually, she is very inconsistent. So one week on Saturday she isn't going-  rather than going I just leave it be. She's being too indecisive about the matter. I tell her to just tell me when she would be going and went home.  So Tuesday comes up and she comes to work. She follows her usual routine; what's for lunch and etc? she comes up to check up on me and etc. But I wait until her shift after 12:30, now after that - my coworker comes up to ask “” Arent you going to the gym”. her reply, however, was “ No, I didn't do any laundry today. So I don't have any clean clothes to go with” That would’ve been news to tell me.  So she leaves without telling me the matter - and leaves me hanging there. Wednesday and Thursday im off, and not once did it cross her mind. To make amends, so I actually have to reach out and confront her on the issues. She owned up to it but said her new meds for her depression. I understood in that second but for that whole three days? I felt that was really considerate tbh. I stopped doing favours because that was massive and just focused on me tbh. That was a huge disrespect to me and my time. So around June, I brought up the issue again to make sure we were clear and realised I had backtracked on it based on her logic on of the issue.
4th Arc
After a while, I agreed to invite her out to the movies. Went to see spider-man: Far away from home, I bought the tickets. We went over the seats and I set the time. So on the fourth, I reach the train station to meet her around 10:00 am, the movie starts at 12:45.  She literally tells me to meet her at the theatre though we agreed to the train station, because of its fucking raining. Now the forecast said it would rain - but she chose to dress for the heat tbh. So I let it go and get a ride to the theatre and get there. We are early like its 11:45 pm so we decide to go to Starbucks. So she pulls me aside and asks if she can send lingerie and stuff to my house somewhat nervously (think of a typical anime girl who is fidgetting her fingers nervously) - because it's for when she goes to the gym. Still, quite an odd favour but i accept it. So after the movies, it starts to rain, so I got to CVS and buy an umbrella. Because she's wearing a sundress and if she got any wetter it is porn show. So off we go to across town to the Vape shop because the vape she has, has been burning her throat. So at the shop, the lady shows us how it works and after that she needs ID. She doesn't have ID....still so I had to literally use my ID. After a while, we go eat, and meet her roommate at the firework place. She arm links up with him and tries to get me to join - I literally shoot her down like “Nah im good”. So the roommate introduces us to his friends at her house - and off we go to park. Im literally lacking behind and she comes and checks up behind me multiple times. I state that im okay until we get to the park. Now at the park it's fine until it starts to rain, being the only practical person with common sense - hold up a single umbrella for five people. After 20 minutes of holding this damn thing up, I pass it off before she starts asking me if I want to watch Netflix. I say no, and then I went on my phone to text my friend for a while. Again she asks it before not too long she is leaning my whole thigh with the phone on it.  Like you would with a couch armchair. This was no way platonic. After she leaning back on my chest with her back while we watch Netflix and stuff. Im like....you have your roommate there fam why not do this with him lol. After the fireworks, we leave but the large crowds cause her anxiety; she clings to my arm and literally is like “sorry for invading her personal space” ... it's a little too late for all that :T. We head  to safeway , use the bathroom and head home.
5th Arc
We were supposed to go to Otakon together - because she invited me out to the invite. So I told Mike, a coworker of mine, I and she are supposed to be going. The whole week is excited about Otakon and stuff - and Saturday tells me “whenever she gets up she’ll let me know when she goes down to the convention centre”. I’m like.... what kind of rude shit is that? but I let it be it is what it is. So Friday comes up I call mike, he is down there and I meet him there. He tells me to call her to figure where she is - because she told him she’d be here 3-4. I called her and phone rings twice before going to voicemail. So she tells me “Oh im just got sick. Just my luck!” now I know this feels like bullshit really. You were super excited about this event - and Mike told me she looked healthy yesterday - again not making any sense really. So rather than just telling me you aren't going to show up at all. And she scheduled this event the whole time tbh.

On Dramatic Fic Readings…
If you’re a vet, you know we’ve been having a blast with these, closing out our games with a dramatic reading of a Fic Wreck by yours truly.
For our purposes, to be a Fic Wreck Dramatic Reading candidate, it means:
Features a heinously out-of-character Dean and/or Sam –> this is the core characteristic & is non-negotiable
No smut/kinks/Wincest/ABO –> this is non-negotiable
In the 500-700 word range or less (so, a Drabble)
Can be on Tumblr or from an outside site (FF.net, AO3, Wattpad, et al)
If on Tumblr, preferably at least a year old/not currently circulating on all our dashes with great fervor

Preferably features an immature/annoying/etc. “Y/N”
Preferably has an inexplicably high note/reblog/kudos/etc. count for what it is, which is a wreck
Preferably has a plot that is objectively ridiculous and/or plot points that are crazy confusing
.
New CASPN Perma Chat!
This is the permanent chat room for the CASPN Crew, the link is set to never expire. It will not be deleted like the weekly chats, so feel free to use this space to make suggestions or let your fellow CASPN buddies about things you may need (such as a beta) or things you’ve got planned (such as a challenge) or upcoming events (such as a convention).
.
VERY IMPORTANT REGARDING VOICE CHAT
If you are going to participate in the voice chat over at Discord *PLEASE* make sure you are in a quiet place, and if you are unable to do so, kindly mute yourself and just listen until you are able.
Also, kindly mute yourself if you need to speak to someone on the phone/someone who is with you in person, and mute yourself if your environment becomes noisy - it happens! No worries! Just jump back in when that’s done/when it’s your turn to read
Have this set up and ready to go prior to game start, and ensure all other apps/messaging on your device of choice are muted.
If you are in voice chat just so you can listen because you can’t/don’t choose to read aloud, that of course is fine, but you need to have yourself muted, please, and communicate via chat that you need myself or someone else to read your hand.
.
TIPS & TRICKS FOR IN-GAME FAQs
(A kind reminder: most everything I/veteran players are asked in chat during games is covered at CASPN Headquarters)
Should your mic go out/no one can hear you in Discord, same thing applies as it does when you get duplicate cards/can’t choose a card over in the game - REFRESH! Just refresh the browser page for Discord, and give it a second, and it should remedy itself.
.
🏷️ Tag Me In The Future, Nash! 🏷️
TO BE TAGGED, YOU *MUST* SEND AN ASK! I will not tag you any other way, nor will I tag you if you’ve never played with us before. Them’s the breaks.
I AM UNABLE TO TAG ON THE DAY OF GAMES, suggest you look out for the post, come try the game on for size & if you enjoy it, kindly send an ask stating you’d like to be tagged after you know you like it & are able to participate in future games
IF YOU HAVE CHANGED YOUR NAME, it is YOUR responsibility to send me an ask - I will not track you down or assume you want to stay tagged
FOR THOSE WITH SETTINGS THAT PREVENT TAGGING, you do not have to follow me in order to participate, however I will not follow you just so I can tag you - I am following some CASPN players, however it is only when I find their content of interest or I was already following them prior to the original deck’s conception -  if you want to be in the know about the game dates/times, I suggest you (a) follow me and/or #CASPN which is unique to the weekly games I run, or (b) make a side blog with standard settings that is purely for the purpose of being on this tag list (ex: “CASPN-[your handle])

* The Cannot Tags! *
It either (1) looks like the blog under this name is inactive, (2) you’ve changed your name and not told me, or (3) there’s a setting on YOUR end that prevents it.
None presently as the list has been purged/updated as of 11/11/18
❓ WHY AM I NOT TAGGED? you may ask ❓
Reminder: I’m taking roll at games so I can keep up maintenance on the tag list - if you aren’t participating often [read: approx. every 6 wks/6 games] & you haven’t let me know to move you to my “Hiatus” list, then you won’t be tagged on posts, but I’ll keep you on the CASPN tags page, listed at the bottom under the time frame you were removed.
It is possible I made a mistake if I get busy and neglect to c/p the roster frequently throughout the game - all you have to do is speak up. The biggest issue I have with keeping up is when you use some rando name in game that neither I nor any of the other players recognize. If you want to stay on the tags, you need to use a name I’ll know. Otherwise, I couldn’t care less, call yourself whatever strikes your fancy! :)
Want to be back on “active” status?  Want to be removed altogether? No problem! Kindly communicate your wishes with me via Ask.

Happens Dating Site
Tumblr media
So, the time has come to put an end to the era of your dating account with your (preferred) dating site. Hopefully you found the one you were looking for, or maybe you simply got bored with the site, or alternatively you were fed up with constantly trying to grab someone else’s attention. Either way, you are looking for a way to finish your online dating session and avoid that you’ll be charged after your cancelation. The process is a bit more complicated than simply pushing a big large exit button, but only a little bit. All you need to know is that there are two steps required to completely shut down your account. First you need to cancel your subscription to make sure you’re no longer being charged, and then cancel your account altogether.
Here are 5 tips to help you spot scammers on dating sites and help protect you from being taken advantage of. And yes, I took the screenshots from actual conversations on dating sites such as Zoosk, POF, Coffeemeetsbagle, and MeetMe to name a few. Keep an eye open for bad grammar. Misspelled words are going to happen especially if you're on. Facebook Dating makes it easier to find love through what you like — helping you start meaningful relationships through things you have in common, like interests, events and groups. It takes the work out of creating a dating profile and gives you a more authentic look at who someone is. Today, we’re launching Facebook Dating in the US.
Cancelling Your Paid Subscription vs Cancelling Your Account
One often mistakes these two, but there is a significant difference between them. To put it simply, when you cancel your subscription, you stop paying for the premium membership, and your account is transformed back to its free (but restricted) version. In this case you are typically still able to access your data, browse your existing contacts, but the perks acquired with the premium accounts are gone. This can be considered as a break from paying the monthly fee. If your dates are going along nicely, but unsure whether or not exterminate the account, this is the comfortable middle ground.
Canceling your account altogether, on the other hand, means that you completely delete your profile, and disable any progress you made so far. We only recommend this step when you are fully determined to end your history with the dating site. In most cases there is no turning back from cancelling your membership, while a canceled subscription can be reactivated anytime, while the basic (free) account time remains yours for time’s being. Even if you are happy with your current partner, it’s good to have a return path to the online dating environment you’ve become familiar with.
Let’s See it in Action!
In case you are rolling with the subscription cancellation, your job is pretty straightforward. First, head to your dating site and log in. Select the account settings (or their equivalent) and choose the subscription or payments menu. Here you’ll find the corresponding options, and among them there will be one related to the renewal of payments. When subscribing, most dating sites turn on automatic renewals, meaning that when a payment period ends, it charges you immediately for a new one. If you wish to delete your account, make sure to cancel in time, as dating sites rarely return unused months of service.
And one more thing: it’s possible to unsubscribe from your mobile dating app as well. The steps are quite similar, here’s an example of cancelling your Zoosk subscription on iPhone.
Cancelling Your Paid Zoosk Dating Subscription on iOS
Apple and Google make sure that the users of their mobile operating systems enjoy a smooth and seamless experience with using and purchasing apps and subscriptions. For this reason they make handling your app subscriptions, including those of dating apps, fairly straightforward and transparent. As a matter of fact, the system is more clear and transparent than when you have a direct subscription through the dating website itself. The example below for the cancelation of a paid Zoosk subscription on an iPhone demonstrates how this works for subscriptions to dating sites and apps through iOS:
In your iPhone’s Settings app, go to the iTunes & App Store settings.
Tap your Apple ID at the top of the screen, and then choose View Apple ID, after which you’ll have to enter your password or Touch ID to view and edit your settings.
On the Account page, you’ll see the title Subscriptions. Press the Manage button to be taken to a page that shows all your current and past subscriptions. Here it will for instance show under “Your Subscription” your canceled Zoosk subscription with your options to resubscribe underneath it. If it mentions “Expired” with a date next to it, you can rest assured that your subscription was canceled and your credit card won’t be charged again.
Step by Step Account Cancellation
Deleting your account permanently isn’t much different from suspending the subscription. You just need to look for the kill switch in a different menu. Let’s demonstrate it through three examples for three of the most popular dating websites:
As a premiere trans dating app and website, Trans4Date is a place where thoughtful daters can make a match with a transgender person for free. Contacting new friends or a potential dating partner is completely free on the dating site. Reddit’s r/t4t subreddit is essentially a personals-style online dating forum for transgender people. While it’s not as detailed as more established trans dating sites, this subreddit is designed. Dating sites with trans option.
Tumblr media
Zoosk
Open your browser, and log in to your Zoosk account
Go to the Account Settings, then head to Account Status and hit Edit.
Click “Deactivate”, and confirm it.
eHarmony
Log in to your eHarmony Account and find the Account Settings page.
Go to the “Close Account” page, hit the “Close” button, then verify it.
If you wish to have your details and pictures removed from eHarmony’s servers as well, send a request to their customer support.
Match.com
Access your Match.com profile, and visit the “My account settings” page.
At the bottom you’ll see a link: “To delete your account and permanently remove your profile from the site, click here”. Click this link.
The system asks to confirm your intentions again, and then deletes your account.

Whether you love it or hate it, online dating is here to stay. It seems like most people use apps like Tinder and Bumble or sites like OKCupid and Match.com to find the next person they're going to date. But sometimes, online dating gets overwhelming. It can become a full time job. And there are no hard and fast rules for how to do it right. I went to the experts to find out their suggestions for what you should and shouldn't do when you're online dating.
Do stay safe
One of the most important things you can do when online dating is protect yourself. Unlike meeting a potential partner through a mutual friend, you don't know much about the people you meet online. Dr. Jaime Kulaga, life coach and PhD. told me, 'While dating online can produce long lasting relationships and happiness, sadly, the internet can be a place where people scam others and invade privacy.'
Be especially careful when meeting someone for the first time. Dr. Kulaga added, 'When you go out on a first date, make sure that friends or family know where you are going and never go to someone's house alone. Make sure that your first date is somewhere in public (movies, dinner, theme park, etc). Safety first!'
Do use photos that show the real you
While it might be tempting to use glamour shots of you that were taken ten years ago, don't do it. You want your photos to be an accurate representation of you so that when people meet you in real life, they get what they expect. Therapist Katie Krimer, MS, LMSW told me, 'If you are on dating sites, the first impression is everything! Unfortunately, these sites encourage people to judge based on physicality, more than the content of character — that's the nature of the online/app dating game.'
Tumblr media
Krimer added, 'To maximize your success in meeting the right person, have photographs that are reflective of who you are and what you look like. The first photo is your first impression — try and remember that when you're coming up with your collection. Don't put up photos that are offensive or deceiving or that don't demonstrate who it is you really are.'

Do go beyond photos when matching and liking
Even though photos are very important, don't discard a potential match just because of their appearance. David Bennett, certified counselor, relationship expert and co-author of seven self-help books, told me, 'Studies show most people base online dating primarily on the photos. While this isn't bad, it's the main reason so many people complain that sorting through the duds online is too much work, because just because someone looks good doesn't mean they are dating or relationship material.'
When choosing a partner, looks are only one part of the equation. Bennett suggested, 'Give personality more weight, and swipe left on guys and gals you know wouldn't be good for you, even if they're hot. You'll get higher quality matches.'
Do be self-aware in the process of dating
It's easy to get caught up worrying what your dates want and care about and to neglect your own wants and needs. One of the best things you can do in this process is to be self-aware. Krimer told me, 'Check in with yourself before you get out into the dating world or whilst dating.'
Krimer suggested that you ask yourself the following questions: 'What is it that might be affecting/might affect your dating experience? Do you like/love yourself? Do you know what you want and need? Are you ready to be in a serious relationship? Do you trust your judgment? What is your attachment style? What fundamental values do you want to align with your potential mate? Are you emotionally ready? Are you a good communicator?'
Relationships are complex, and it's important to recognize them as such. Krimer told me, 'Acknowledge all of the important factors that make a relationship healthy and work — are you confident in your ability to contribute to a relationship in these ways? If you experience difficulty in any of these areas, consider the fact that they may affect the outcome of your dating experiences. For example, people who have trouble loving themselves will often choose partners who will confirm their beliefs about themselves.'
Do keep it fun
While relationships are serious business, make sure that you enjoy yourself. Krimer told me in our interview, 'It's really easy to get caught up in the stresses of meeting someone — let alone meeting the right someone.'
Instead of letting yourself get stressed out, she suggested, 'Make a conscious choice to think of ways to find enjoyment in meeting new people and putting yourself out there — focus on the process instead of the outcome. If you put too much pressure on the expectation of meeting someone, you're much more likely to feel disappointed or discouraged if it's not what you expect it to be.'
Do keep your bigger goals in mind
I've seen many friends let their longterm goals go out the window when they meet someone they really like, but who may not be a great long term match. Krimer suggested that you keep your goals front and center. She said, 'Do know your goals for what you're looking for — what are your intimacy and relationship needs? Are the people you're meeting matching those needs? Are you getting into relationships with people with conflicting relationship goals (i.e. you want a long term relationship, but your current partner just sees it as a casual fling)? Being honest with yourself and others about what it is you want in a relationship can help prevent unnecessary stress or uncertainty later on.'
Choose to spend your time on online platforms where you are more likely to meet other people with similar goals. Dr. Kulaga told me, 'There are online dating sites for everyone's desires. Whether you are looking for a long-lasting relationship or just want to 'play the field' for a while, online dating has you covered. However, you want to keep your bigger goals in mind when entering some of these dating sites.'
She added, 'If your desire is to find someone looking for a long term relationship, you wouldn't want to sign up for a dating site that is known for short term flings. You are doing yourself a disservice when you waste time and energy on dealing with things that don't directly impact your bigger goal.'
Do use a variety of apps
Speaking of choosing apps carefully when online dating, it's a good idea not to limit yourself to just one. Bennett told me, 'Different apps have different strengths and weaknesses. It may take some time to find which app is right for you. Some apps cater more toward a younger demographic, while others skew older. Some focus more on relationships, while others seem geared toward flings and dating around.'
While most of the apps and sites have particular reputations, don't let that keep you from trying them out. Bennett added, 'Your own experience of these apps may defy the typical experience. Try a variety of apps for a few months and then go from there.'
Don't be lazy when using online platforms
It can be tedious to fully fill out your profile when you're on a dating site, but buckle down and do it anyway. You'll save a lot of time you would have spent going out with the wrong people. Dr. Kulaga told me, 'If you are dating online and have an opportunity to fill out a profile or inventory about who you are, and what you like/dislike, do it!' She explained that this is the best way to find someone who is a good fit for your wants, desires, and personality. You are representing yourself in your profile, and that's the first impression potential matches are going to see. She said: 'Invest the time and effort into attracting the right person.'
When you reach out to a potential match, take the time to write something thoughtful. Bennett told me in our interview, 'Don't use a boring or standard opening message. Online dating is very competitive, and some people have anywhere from hundreds to even thousands of likes, matches, and messages to sort through. A hey or WYD isn't going to cause you to stand out.'
Don't take it personally if someone isn't interested
When I was online dating, the first date usually led to disappointment, and it was hard not to get discouraged and feel down about myself. But in most cases, it's not worth it to take rejection personally. Dr. Kulaga told me, 'If someone doesn't respond to a request you sent them or someone doesn't follow up after a first date, move on.'
Not only does it feel bad to internalize every rejection, it can also keep you from meeting someone you click with. Dr. Kulaga continued, 'If you sulk, ruminate and dwell on the fact that someone didn't come through on a follow up, this will hold you back from meeting the real Mr. or Ms. Right.' She explained that ruminating can lower your confidence, preventing you from putting yourself back out there and meeting someone who is an even better match.
Celebrate your mismatches instead of getting upset about them. In Dr. Kulaga's words, 'Be happy the person didn't come through and you didn't waste any more of your precious time. Move on.' Instead of dwelling on rejections, spend your time remembering what's great about you. Krimer told me, 'Going into the dating world knowing that you have a lot to offer can really buffer some of the potential effects of dates not working out and can help you not to personalize dating experiences that may be perceived as rejection.'
Don't keep dating someone if they're not a good fit
It can be tempting to keep talking to someone, even if a little voice at the back of your mind is telling you they're not right for you. Dr. Kulaga told me it's better to move on when that happens. She said, 'If you are emailing someone back and forth and recognize this person is not a good fit for you, or you go on a date that just wasn't your cup of tea, let the person know. Be upfront and don't lead people on. Not only does this waste their time, it is wasting yours.'
On the same note, it's important that you be honest about what you're looking for so that you don't end up dating someone who is wrong for you. Krimer told me, 'Be upfront about what you're looking for when meeting people. In this day and age, the word clingy gets thrown around a lot — someone who is secure and emotionally mature will be open to hearing about your readiness for a relationship, and you should feel safe in expressing at least a general sense of what you want from a dating experience.'

When you trust your intuition and you're clear about what you're looking for, you'll spend more time dating people who are a better fit for you, raising your chances of finding someone you can see yourself with long-term.
Tumblr media
Don't jump to the finish line
While you want to be honest about what you're looking for in a partner, don't let your desire to get married and have kids get in the way when you first start dating someone. Dr. Kulaga told me, 'If your ultimate goal is to get married and you go on a first and second date with someone dreamy, don't blurt out the marriage countdown! You will scare this perfect match away!'
Instead, she suggested, 'Enjoy the journey and take your time in a relationship. You might be dying to show off an engagement ring on social media, or you might feel like you are last on your list of friends to marry, but don't jump to that finish line just yet. Enjoy the process, get to know the person and create memories before you drag them into your pre-written agenda.'
Don't play games
You're probably well-aware of the spoken and unspoken dating 'rules,' but when it comes to finding a potential partner, it's better to just drop the game-playing. Krimer told me, 'If you went on a date and had a terrific time, don't buy into the game-playing and rules. Let that person know soon after your first date that you really enjoyed your time!'
You may think this will make you seem too eager, but it will actually help you see if they're a good match more quickly. Krimer continued, 'They'll either reciprocate if they felt the same way, or you will know by their response or behaviour if they aren't interested in pursuing anything further. There's no need to wait days before you text or call — if you like someone, let them know it!'
Don't let them get away with poor communication
I can't count the number of times my friends have complained that the men they meet online don't call or text them enough. It seems like poor communication has become standard in online dating. But it doesn't have to be. If they want to communicate with you, they will. And if they don't, cut them loose.
Krimer told me, 'Don't buy the I'm really busy with work excuse to justify lack of communication — I've had patients who are in relationships with doctors who work 17 hour days and still manage to text their partners in breaks between OR time. We're all busy people — but we know that we make time when we want to make time.'
Is Dateyou A Real Dating Site
When someone you're dating doesn't respond to your texts, it hurts. But don't just brush it off. Krimer told me, 'Don't fall into the he's/she's just a bad texter trap to continuously excuse poor communication. Even if texting isn't someone's main mode of communicating, if they are ready and interested in pursuing a relationship, it will be reflected in their behaviour. They will absolutely find a way to check in, keep you in the loop, and make themselves available to talk.'
Don't rush the dating process
Unfortunately, the dating process can take awhile. Even getting on that first date can feel difficult. Bennett told me, 'Don't expect to get a date right away. Statistics show that around one third of online dating users never go on a date. The number was as high as seventy percent without a date in one study focused on Tinder. These apps aren't magic, and going from matching and messaging to an actual date is pretty much just as hard online as it is in the offline world.'
Happen Dating Site Uk
Tumblr media
Happen Datingsite
Instead of getting anxious to 'meet the one' already, Krimer suggested, 'Engage in the dating experience with a different mindset. Don't look at it as a success or failure, but rather as an adventure you're taking on.' She added, 'Remind yourself of your great qualities and that dating can feel exhausting and it can take a lot of time to meet someone with whom you feel really connected.'

I’ve changed my page info/description to reflect what N+C fandom projects I’m currently working on. Further details are below the cut.
But first... reminder that any of you are more than welcome to message me anytime! I joined this site in large part for the community, so if you want to talk N+C I’d be more than happy to get to know you. You don’t need to have the same fav characters/pairings as me to talk to me (I’m entertained with how many friends I’ve made here who initially didn’t think I would talk to them because of their preferred pairings). As far as I’m concerned, diversity is the spice of life. <3
Now, on to projects...
- I successfully figured out how to make language patches for the N+C games! Yay! I’m working on Osu Boys (one of the N+C April Fools joke games) as a proof of concept. It’ll be finished shortly.
- I’d already started on TnC Poker as my original “learn to patch” game before @seragaki-yuki wisely suggested Osu Boys as a better starting project. There is actually a TON of dialog/text in TnC poker, believe it or not, so I’m picking away at it slowly between other projects.
- I definitely plan on making a patch for Rhythm Carnival as soon as I get a copy. Most of the text is actually what I’ve already translated for the 10th Anniversary video, so it shouldn’t take too long to do once I get started on it.
- I plan on making patches for TnC Typing and True Blood once the others are finished. I have hard copies of both already. I’m *hoping* to recruit some help on the translation front prior to attempting these games, though, since I feel like it’s a bigger deal if I screw things up. FYI, the actual typing portion of TnC Typing will still be in Japanese (both kana and romanji), because that’s just how the game is set up. It’s supposed to help you learn to type in Japanese - you don’t need to be able to understand it, just copy the letters on the screen.
- Regarding the DMMd games, I don’t want to attempt to patch Re:Code before a better translation patch for DMMd/Re:Connect is made, otherwise all of the same mistakes will just be repeated over again. I was pretty late to the N+C fandom, but I have definitely picked up on how unhappy many fans seem to be with the original translation (which frankly scares me a bit, since my own translation skills are far from perfect). I’ve sort of put out antennae to find some of the other fans who have done work on re-translating DMMd. Since I’m already working on so many other things, I won’t aggressively pursue them right now, but if other fans want these games translated/re-translated badly enough to be willing to do some actual work on them, I’m definitely willing to help out in whatever ways I can to make sure that it happens. (Justice for Mink!)
- Regarding the other N+C mini games like Nyanda, Lamento Typing, and Chiral Mori... I don’t personally have any plans to work on them, but that might change if someone else was really inspired to translate these guys, wanted to pick them up as their own projects, and just needed an editor to turn them into an actual patch that people could use and play with.
- I seriously need to finish my own gift project for the N+C Exchange, so progress on the translation front will be a little slow for the next couple of weeks until the release date on August 31st. But I’ll pick right back up after that.
- I’m actually RPing now! That’s been a lot of fun. I RP Nano (TnC), but I have a merged DMMd/TnC universe if any DMMd RPers want to play with me (or just want to talk merged-universe conspiracy theories). Even if you don’t RP, you can always send me asks, anon or otherwise. I’m not too picky - I’m just happy to have an excuse to write.
- I really want to find more time to work on my original fanfic... I’m a much better writer than translator (I hope!). If I’m procrastinating on my other projects, there’s a good chance that it’s because I’m writing and don’t want to stop. Unsurprisingly the vast majority of original content that I write centers around Nano. Fair warning, I went really dark with some of it, even for N+C. I’ve also written a few DMMd fics, but... lately I just want to focus on Nano right now, because I find him to be a very inspirational muse.
- Our discord server is alive and very active, both on the project and social front. Lately we’ve been playing a N+C Cards Against Humanity game with a custom deck created by @kisamaa more-or-less in-character. It’s such a weird and fun cast. Depending on who’s on (since we’re all around the world) we’ve got: Nano, Shiki, Arbitro, Alpha, Akushima, Usui, Sly Blue, and Leaks. Shenanigans are inevitable. We’re starting up some new games, too. Send any of us a message if you want a link. (I’d just post the link here, but apparently the links expire and I’ve had a couple of people complain about it, so it’s easier to send them to folks directly.)
- I’m working on scanlations for several different doujinshi, it’s just been a little slower than usual on account of everything else I’m doing. I’m still focusing on Alpha and Nano doujinshi, with some Clear stuff thrown in for good measure. The next one that will be released is Experiment Time! which has a good combo of both sexiness (Alphas testing out their sexual functions in many different ways) and angsty existential robot problems. Once I get the three big doujins that are half-finished completed, I am going to start on Hiki’s three volume series “The Last Days.” It’s a very angsty BE!Clear/Aoba series designed to tear your heart out. Hiki is my fav CleAo artist, both because of her impressive artistic talent and her storytelling expertise. (And here I swore I’d never do BE!Clear... ah well, so much for that...)
- If you haven’t already heard, there is a really awesome and active new DMMd scanlation group that has recently formed and focuses primarily on NoiAo doujinshi (but are working on doujins for several other pairings as well). They’re looking for more translators, editors, and proofreaders, so contact @desamparo7, @seragaki-yuki, and/or @a-little-harmed-shinra if you want to help out with their projects.
- I’m still scanning/digitizing doujinshi for multiple people/groups. My make-shift “scanner” which I posted a tutorial for earlier still works better than any professional scanner I’ve tried. I should probably update my tutorial on post-processing, though - I’ve since gotten it down much faster with noticeably better results since I originally posted. (Speaking of which, if I’ve promised you something and haven’t given it to you yet, please remind me. It isn’t an intentional slight - there’s just a lot to keep track of sometimes and I get scatterbrained.)
- I’ve scanned all three of the 10 Years Archive books. I’ll get back to posting artwork from them shortly as I get them edited... I’ve been spending so much time on my Nano blog lately that I forgot my queue ran out on this one. XD I will post the full-spread 2-page images later in their entirety, because it takes some creative photoshop skills to get them to match up exactly and I just don’t have the time to do that right now. (But I will do it!)
- Random, but I’m so ridiculously excited to get a hold of that TnC benefits poster that came with the C92 Comiket Rhythm Carnival. Nano in a sparkly rainbow butterfly costume... seriously WTF? (It’s especially funny to me because I used to cosplay/RP Caterpillar many years ago when I still went to Nocturnal Wonderland... and I was just talking about how he reminds me of Nano. Apparently N+C thought so, too! Now I have this weird mental image of Nano sitting on a mushroom smoking hookah... and I’m not sure it’s any sillier than Nano in a sparkly butterfly costume holding a magic wand.)

31 MadaTobi. (why they're all so madatobi)
[Because MadaTobi are unrepentantly ruthless and sneak into everywhere.]
For this prompt list > 31. “Where’s your God now?”   Have a drabble from the future of Following Dreams. You may thank @insanescriptist‘s great review for the inspiration.
[AO3 link]
“Sorry to intrude on your office hours, Professor Senju, butdo you have some time for questions?”
Kawarama slams his thumb down on the pause button on his portablegame system, grin already growing on his face as he looks up to see Sunshine’sdad standing in the entrance to Tobirama’s office. Mad'ra gives him a flat lookfrom the other end of the couch, tapping a finger impatiently on his own gamesystem, but Kawarama holds up a hand, eyes riveted on Tobes’ face as hisbrother stills at his desk, pen poised over a pile of papers as red eyesflicker towards the door.
The way Tobirama closes his eyes and breathes in slowly afternoticing the runes marking Minato’s dress shirt as an OSIB uniform is priceless.
“Director Namikaze, can I help you?” Tobirama asks, voice a bit flat.
Minato smiles apologetically but without regret and Kawaramapresses his lips together tightly. “There’s been an unusual event in thewest that we don’t have much data on. Do you happen to know where your God isright now?”
Kawarama snorts.
Tobirama sends him a withering glare as Kawarama struggles not tobreak down laughing, barely managing to limit himself to undignified snorting. He almost chokes when Minato greets him and Mad'ra, completely failing to reactto the fire God lounging in plain sight. His older brother clearly catches theincongruity as well and switches his glare from Kawarama to his lover, whoquirks a black eyebrow unrepentantly and then reaches a finger over to stab atthe start button on Kawarama’s device, resuming their virtual fight and causingKawarama to curse and quickly direct his character to dodge an enemy.
“While I know where Mad'ra is,” Tobirama answerstersely, irritation nearly radiating from him as he refocus on the OSIBdirector, “I don’t believe that will help you at all - as I have alreadystated in the past - given his disinclination to spend time withauthorities. Or answer questions from most humans. Or cooperate in general forthat matter.”
“I don’t know, he’s pretty good at team play when he’s nottrying to get his teammate KO'ed,” Kawarama interjects, grinning andundeterred by Tobirama’s displeasure.
“Well you shouldn’t have paused in the middle ofbattle,” Mad'ra mutters, scowling as one of the NPCs hits him with aprojectile.
“That’s what the pause button is for,” Kawaramastresses, laying down cover fire so Mad'ra can move.
Tobirama pinches the bridge of his nose, clearly fed up with boththe interruption to his work and their commentary, and turns his focus back onMinato. Kawarama keeps a quarter of his attention on his brother’s conversationfor the sake of his own amusement as he and his firebomb-in-law (no, no,that’s another stupid name. Mad'ra’s nicknames will require more thought. Maybesomething with two syllables since it’s replacing the “brother” in“brother-in-law”?) work their way through the dungeon levels inthe Archipelago of Bloody Mists.
For someone who had never bothered to pick up a video game beforeattaching himself to Tobirama, Mad'ra isn’t actually that bad at this. Hecatches on really fast despite lacking most basic knowledge, and hisstyle is unquestionably hit them hard and put them down. The God tends to takeunnecessary damage at the beginnings of fights - Kawarama has the impressionthat Mad'ra is understandably accustomed to being remarkably hard to hit andmaybe a bit impatient to boot - but despite the evidence showing a fairlystraightforward style of thought, he’s clever enough to notice and work throughthe traps and puzzles quickly even though he ignores whatever NPCs he can.
Overall Kawarama’s… mostly ok with the guy. Mad'ra can’t beterrible if Tobes likes him so much (and wasn’t that a surprise) andhe’s open to playing games and humoring Tama’s endless questions, but still…Kawarama definitely understands why Sunshine’s dad is doing everything short ofhaving OSIB politely and very respectfully stalk Tobirama. If Kawaramawas the guy who’s responsible for knowing how to successfully navigatenegotiations with the being who threw up a fire column in a warded auditoriumwith no effort, he’d also be asking dozens of questions and trying to get abetter feel for “Madara”.
( It doesn’t make Tobirama’s developing twitch or the absurdityof “where’s your God now?” any less entertaining though. )
Eventually Minato makes his way back out after a roundaboutconversation establishing that no, Tobirama doesn’t think Mad'ra had anythingto do with whatever it was, and no, Tobirama is fairly certain Mad'ra doesn’tintend on dealing with whatever it was, and yes, Tobirama is willing toforward any information he comes into possession of, but no, he doesn’tthink Mad'ra will be willing to entertain anything resembling a cooperativeexchange of information with OSIB or society in general at this time.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to set them all on fire,Tobirama?” Mad'ra asks dryly, eyes focused on the game as Tobirama rubs athis temples.
Tobirama sends them both another dirty look as a dungeon bosssong starts playing loudly and stands up, pushing back his chair to round thetable. He plucks the game right from Mad'ra’s hands, dropping it in Kawarama’slap, and sits on the armrest, calf resting against the God’s knee as he looksdown in irritation. “Explain why you couldn’t be bothered to answer thosequestions yourself and then how Namikaze didn’t register you when he’s alreadymet you.”
“I didn’t want to speak with him,” Mad'ra answers witha smirk as Kawarama scrambles to pause the game again, pointedly rolling hiseyes at Tobirama who’s ignoring him. “I see no convincing reason to careone way or another about those people although the way you’re gettingfrustrated is starting to irritate me on your behalf. And that one is ratherpolite and respectful by nature which makes it nearly effortless to make himoverlook connections and that’s already a simple matter.”
“How so?” Tobirama asks with a frown that slowlylightens as Mad'ra reaches a hand up and gently traces a finger over Tobirama’smarkings one by one.
Kawarama reaches over the arm of the couch and fishes out hisphone from his bag as Mad'ra shrugs. “I do not wish him to acknowledge meand not doing so meshes well with his desire not to unnecessarily intrude orinterfere in people’s personal matters, which is what I view this as. Myactions are my business, so not connecting me to my appearance suits bothour desires.”
“Except for where he’d like to see yo—” Tobirama cutsoff as Kawarama’s phone camera makes a shutter sound, expression shifting fromslowly relaxing to irate again as he meets Kawarama’s grin, Mad'ra’s fingerslipping from his cheek. “What are you doing?”
“Taking couple pictures,” Kawarama answers innocently, shamelessly clicking another few times to get a good view of Tobirama’sannoyance and Mad'ra’s idle interest as the God turns his attention partly awayfrom Tobirama again. “According to Tama you more or less got marriedbefore Hashi even grabbed a date with Mito and we’ve got practically nopictures at all. Not to mention that I have roughly a decade of younger siblingduties to make up for. Gotta start somewhere, Tobes!”
“Get out of my office,” Tobirama sighs as Mad'rasnorts.
“That’s so rude. I came in here to have brotherly bondingtime, and you want to kick me out. I’m heartbroken, Tobes.”
“You came in with two handheld game systems you just happenedto have and started playing Call of the Ninja on my office couch with my—”Tobirama pauses, eyes flickering to Mad'ra’s face “—with Mad'ra.”
“Two things,” Kawarama says firmly, holding up fingersand resting his arm on the back of the couch. “One: I came in, greeted youlovingly, and you grunted and kept marking those thesis drafts whileleaving me dejected over here.” Mad'ra chuckles as Tobirama drags a handdown his face. “And two: who says I was talking about bonding time withyou? Someone has to spend time teaching your beau about the wonders of societyif he wants to blend in, and you and Tama aren’t going to cover vitalnecessities like video games and TV and basic conversational topics. Well, Iguess you could if he wants to be five years out of date at all times, give ortake whatever last research binge you two buried yourselves in but—”
“Kawarama, please get out of my office.”
Kawarama hums, looking between his brother, his brother’s desk, and his own whatever-in-law. “I suppose I can leave if you guys want to domore cute PDAs in privacy rather than grading papers. Although, just fyi, ifyou’re planning to use the condoms I generously shoved in your desk ages ago,Tobes, you should know they’re probably expired.”
Oops, Kawarama thinks as Tobirama’s eyes abruptly narrowwith an evil glint before sliding down towards Mad'ra who tilts his headslightly as if Tobirama had actually said something before black eyes shift tomeet Kawarama’s own. Miiight have gone a bit too far that time.
Half a second later black ashes and red-orange sparks flit aroundhim and Kawarama abruptly finds himself four feet in the air above a compostheap in the botany fields with just enough time to realize what happened beforehe lands hard on his ass in the stinking pile.
Grimacing with a scrunched up nose at the smell and disgustingtexture, Kawarama huffs, glaring into the distance towards the direction of hisbrother’s office. “If you wanted to have personal time with your boyfriendyou could have just said so, Tobes! No need to be an embarrassed asshole!”he yells.
His bag lands on his head a second later, video games and all.

Cards Against Supernatural: The 2018 New Year’s Eve Party
Tumblr media
Got no plans tonight? Stuck at home? Or maybe you know you’re gonna be bored at party? The designated driver who’s waiting on all your hooligans to finish tying one on?
We got you covered.
We’re gonna have a New Year’s Eve party of our own, and it’s gonna be a marathon. We’ll be ushering in the new year throughout the North American time zones - that’s four full hours of CASPN fun. Wander in-and-out as you please, or even just hop on to watch and/or listen to the hilarity. Amongst other things, we’re giving the Chrismakwanzhanukkah deck one final run, and of course throwing last year’s NYE deck into the mix.
If you see this? You’re invited. ALL SPN Family members who are at least 18 years & older are welcome!
We start at 8 p.m. CST and roll through 12 a.m. CST...
....because that’s your honorable host’s time zone, and I’m selfish like that.
Whether veteran player or brand new, if you plan to participate in tonight’s event, then you need to:
Tumblr media
Below the standard CASPN image is the typical CASPN announcement post info, but there is one thing for veteran players and one thing for new players that needs to be emphasized quickly up front....
Vet Players: On Dramatic Readings
If you’re a vet, you know we’ve been having a blast with these, closing out our games with a dramatic reading of a Fic Wreck by yours truly. It would be great to break up the games happening tonight in our NYE party (say, every hour or every four or five rounds, depending on length) with some short dramatic readings, which people can take bathroom breaks/snack breaks/refill their drinks during if they so choose.
For our purposes, to be a Fic Wreck Dramatic Reading candidate, it means:
Features a heinously out-of-character Dean and/or Sam --> this is the core characteristic & is non-negotiable
No smut/kinks/Wincest/ABO --> this is non-negotiable
In the 500-700 word range or less (so, a Drabble)
Can be on Tumblr or from an outside site (FF.net, AO3, Wattpad, et al)
If on Tumblr, preferably at least a year old/not currently circulating on all our dashes with great fervor
Preferably not anyone’s BFF or whatever - and NEVER someone in our group, though y’all are certainly welcome to volunteer any of your own short fics if you just want to hear it read aloud in my crazy voices
Preferably features an immature/annoying/etc. “Y/N”
Preferably has an inexplicably high note/reblog/kudos/etc. count for what it is, which is a wreck
Preferably has a plot that is objectively ridiculous and/or plot points that are crazy confusing
......and for tonight specifically, bonus points if it’s NYE/Christmas-centric
DO NOT send this link to me via Discord chat - the writer is to be kept anonymous as the intent is not to make fun of them and hurt feelings. I also will not “out” you as the sender, if you wanna say you found it, that’s your call.
Send this to me via Submit - I have the link function on (and of course, it won’t be published) by 7PM CST. I’ll also take them during the game if you suddenly think of one and can put your hands on it, but again, don’t put it in Discord chat, we’ll figure something out if that time comes.
New Players: On Being A New Player
💡 IF THIS WILL BE YOUR FIRST GAME WITH US, YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE IT’S GONNA BE YOUR JAM & VISIT CASPN HEADQUARTERS 💡
—> This is a mobile-friendly page and contains tons of need-to-knows ---> This is NON-NEGOTIABLE FOR NEW PLAYERS
🌟 Post with game link + password AND the links to the Discord room will go up closer to start of game 🌟
—> Make sure you are ready to go at Discord prior to game time so all you have to do is click-n’-chat! 👍 ---> At the game site and on Discord (if you do not already have one), make sure you use your Tumblr name or a variation thereof so we know who you are - this prevents unnecessary confusion. 😁
Tumblr media
⏰ As always, the start time given may not be *precisely* when the game starts - we take a little time for everybody to get logged in & settled in chat, so feel free to come & hang out while you wait!  ⏰
🃏 Find out ways you can contribute to the decks, the most recent CASPN updates, quick tips for players, & how to join the tag list below 🃏
YOU CAN HELP MAKE THIS GAME BETTER!
Anytime you spot a great quote - and it will probably be on a gif! - that you think may work as a question/answer, shoot it my way and I’ll see if I can work it in.
Please include the season & episode number so I know which deck to put it in. FYI: We do not need any from seasons 3, 5, or 6 - those decks are complete or near completion.

UPDATES
On Dramatic Fic Readings...
If you’re a vet, you know we’ve been having a blast with these, closing out our games with a dramatic reading of a Fic Wreck by yours truly.
For our purposes, to be a Fic Wreck Dramatic Reading candidate, it means:
Features a heinously out-of-character Dean and/or Sam --> this is the core characteristic & is non-negotiable
No smut/kinks/Wincest/ABO --> this is non-negotiable

New CASPN Perma Chat!
This is the permanent chat room for the CASPN Crew, the link is set to never expire. It will not be deleted like the weekly chats, so feel free to use this space to make suggestions or let your fellow CASPN buddies about things you may need (such as a beta) or things you’ve got planned (such as a challenge) or upcoming events (such as a convention).
.
New CASPN headquarters page!
It will be a permanent fixture up above the cut, and is also linked in the menu bar on my blog - it is a mobile friendly, all-in-one page for About, Warnings, How-Tos, FAQs, and the Tag List.

Tag team, back again…

* The Cannot Tags! *
