22) for hunter toh mabby? (idk if ur still taking asks about it but heyyy i figured i'd send it lmao 😭😭🦆)
I’m always taking asks! I love hearing myself talk! 😎
Tumblr media
And why would you apologise for this little fella. He’s precious ✨🦆✨
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?
I don’t read nearly as many TOH fics as I read Layton and Miraculous ones (and even then, I tend to write much more than I read) but Hunter salt in general rubs me the wrong way. He definitely gets more love than he does hate, but there was a weird period between S2 and S3 during which certain fans got fed up of “seeing his face everywhere” (ie, that he Sparked Joy™ for other people). Huntlow also got a lot of heat simply for being a thing, which thankfully dwindled down after Dana confirmed they were a queer couple (there’s a lot to unpack there about gatekeeping in LGBTQ+ spaces, BUT this is not the topic the day).
On a somewhat related note, aspec headcanons make me very happy, especially when they coincide with Huntlow! It’s a great way to explore the spectrum in its totality. 🖤🩶🤍💜
Anyway. Bird boy (another one)! ❤️🐥

Thank you for the ask! ❤️🐥
Ask game here!

Matchmaker, Chapter 1
Pairing: Mainly HugoxLiz, but there’s a whole bunch of smaller ones in there
Summary: Liz wants to confess to Hugo. Instead she proposes that they play matchmakers! Will she ever be able to confess her feelings?
Thank you to @explosiveglitterqueen for allowing me to use Lizzy in this fic~
“So, Liz, what did you want to talk to me about?”
I'd told myself a thousand times over that today was finally going to be the day that I told Hugo how I felt. I'd chickened out too many times before! But.. now that I was facing him, I found myself at a loss for words.
“Well, I-” He was watching me with those pretty golden eyes. “It's about- you and I-” No, that wasn't right, “No, I mean, I.. I have-” Why did he have to be so pretty? “What I mean to say is-”
“Liz, are you all right?”
“Your powers!” I blurted out. That was a safe way to talk. “I want to help you with your powers!”
“..My powers? How so?”
'You can recharge off my feelings for you-'
“I-” Why couldn't I just say it? “I'm going to help you find couples to charge from!” Why did I say that?!
He stared at me in bafflement. “Liz,” he said slowly, “thank you, but I don't need-”
“No, really! I want to help you!” I insisted. “This way you can be stronger! I insist!”
Surprise flickered across his face- and then he smiled. “Very well. If you insist.”
“Where are we going?”
“This will be the easiest place to find couples!” Hugo and I were on our way to the lake. “The students call this the date course; it is the place to take your date on campus!”
“Very well.” Suddenly, Hugo grabbed my hand. “It'll be easier if we can stick together.” He did it so easily- It felt nice to have his attention, but at the same time, under his gaze, it felt like my heart was about to burst!
“We- we should start looking for couples!” I blurted out. We took a seat on a bench, scanning the area. We lapsed into silence, but Hugo seemed.. content.
'He's been a lot more relaxed ever since we beat Felix in the Magical Board Game competition,' I thought. 'It's really good to see.'
“It's pretty quiet today,” I admitted. “Do you think we'll be able to see any couples?”
Hugo smirked. “I see at least one now.” I followed his gaze to see Caesar and Alfonse strolling through the yard, happily discussing something.
“What? Caesar and Alfonse aren't a couple.” Surprise flickered across his face, and he looked away. “Wait-” Well, he was the Gatherer of Love. “Can you sense people's feelings for each other?”
“I didn't used to be able to, but since my powers have gotten stronger, it's gotten easier.” Huh, I wonder why that was. “And I sense a lot of love from those two.”
I looked over at them, and I was starting to see it. Even walking through the yard, I could see how their hands drifted to each other, how Alfonse was laughing a lot at Caesar's jokes- oh, and they were coming this way!
“Oh, hey, you two. What are you two doing here?” Crap! It wasn't like I could tell them that Hugo would recharge his magic from them-
“Caesar,” Alfonse said with a laugh, “I think that's pretty obvious! Sitting together, holding hands- not to mention being on the date course- can't you see?”
“Oh, no, it's not like that-” I said quickly. Was I just imagining Hugo's hand tightening in mine?
“Of course, we're just teasing you,” Alfonse said with a sweet smile.
“Say, did I tell you that I got turned into a pig again this morning?” Caesar said. “Luckily, Alfonse was there to turn me back.”
“Sure, sure!” Well, now it seemed obvious..
As they walked away, Hugo held up his hand, charging his powers with a smile. We both burst into laughter. “Well, it looks like our mission was successful,” he said. “Now we can go back, and-”
“No!” I blurted out without thinking. We had just settled down! “We need to- find more couples!” I quickly gathered myself. “I mean, the more you can recharge, the stronger you are, right?”
“I don't think-”
“Oh, look!” Now there was a couple even I knew. “There's Vain and Lizzy!”
Now, it was Hugo's turn to look confused. “They're not dating.”
“I'm pretty sure they are? Everyone knows they are. See?” As I pointed to them, Vain gave Lizzy a peck on the cheek.
“..I think I need to chat with Vain. Though that would explain a lot.”
As we spoke, said couple came up to us. “It's nice to see you two,” Vain said pleasantly. “Hey, Hugo, there's something I wanted to ask you about that last mission-”
“Yeah, I wanted to ask you something.” Lizzy giggled as they stepped away.
“It looks like you and Hugo are getting closer,” she said. “Did you tell him yet?” Okay, I might have gone on and on to her about Hugo. She teased me just as much about him as I teased her about Vain.
“No, not yet,” I said. “I tried to, but I ended up blurting out that I wanted to help him find couples to charge from.”
“Not a bad idea. But, you know, if you ever want help, I'm sure I can lend a hand-”
“That didn't really work out last time, did it? I remember a lot of glitter and a Chimera-”
“It was fine!” she assured me. “Everything was fine!”
“What are you two talking about?” As Vain and Hugo approached us, I quickly put a finger to my lips.
Lizzy giggled, wrapping her arms around her boyfriend. “Nothing, nothing! Did you get everything settled?”
“Yup. We should get going,” he said. “There's still that place that I wanted to show you..”
“Of course. It was nice seeing you two~” Lizzy said. “Oh, and good luck!” With a wave, they left. Hugo asked me what she meant, but I couldn't give him an answer.
The next day, I tried to confess my feelings to Hugo again- but the same thing happened. That time, we went to the Greenhouse, the next stop on the date course. There weren't many people around, so I started showing Hugo some of the flowers.
“These flowers are really beautiful, aren't they?” I asked. “They're some of my favorites-” I looked up, my heart jumping at how close Hugo was to me-
“Not as beautiful as-”
“Oh, hey, what are you two doing here?”
A few hours later, Hugo and I finally made it back to his house. “Who knew that Mel and Clive would be on a date too?” I said with a sigh, sitting on his couch. “I guess it figured they'd come there. Could've done without the lecture from Mel..”
“It was pretty funny to see Clive taking notes even on that,” Hugo said with a grin. “He was hanging onto Mel's every word.”
“Mhmm. The look in his eyes could only be matched by how Cerim was looking when Joel was singing.” Yeah, the trip to the music room wasn't any better.
I looked up to see Hugo looking at me intently. My heart jumped a bit. “You know, I really appreciate you doing this for me,” he said. “This has been a lot of fun.” Well, it was worth it when he smiled like that.
“No problem!” Hugo hummed.
“I guess I have lots of choices to charge from.” Great, now my excuse was running out-
“But-” I said, “won't you get bored with the same old couples?”
“I think that we found every couple on campus.”
“Just because those are the only couples doesn't mean there's no love on campus,” I blurted out. “There's still a lot of people who have crushes.” Like my huge crush on Hugo that I couldn't seem to get out for the life of me!
“I'm not quite sure what to do about that,” he said with a sigh. “What are we supposed to do, play matchmaker?”
Just when I thought I couldn't embarrass myself further- “That's.. exactly what we should do!”

I was walking home today splashing through the puddles left over from the 20 odd centimeters of snow Mother Nature left us on Monday, thinking about D. Way back when, we have a young man, who may or may not understand Hollywood’s seedy underbelly, find himself getting a dream job. D joins Glee and is given a chance to become a permanent fixture. He renews his contract and the rest is history.
What comes next is a theory but I must state I believe D is gay. However, I thought I would bring this up.
What if D did not have understood his sexuality when he signed the deal. (Some people are later bloomers. I was not.) Maybe he thought he was straight or considered himself to be bisexual or even gay? Let’s say, the for purpose of this theory, he thought himself as bisexual and felt it best to play the straight man. Then he really gets to know C in ways he had never dreamed possible and – poof – he realizes, “Yes, I’m gay!” -- The scene in the Lima Bean after kissing Rachel may have been real to D – Anyhow, he finds himself trapped in PR nightmare when he has fallen hopelessly in love to his lucky co-star.
Now, D is forced into a masquerade and has to have a girlfriend because of a contract. The problem is now, the PR teams wants to save face by pushing the straight line in interviews and photos. Ladi ladi da.
What I am getting at is, people who yell a lot about something usually have something to hide.
Just think about it. There are many straight actors who have played gay rolls and have not suffered for it. Here are just a few.
Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain)
Tom Hanks (Philadelphia)
Daniel Radcliffe (Kill Your Darlings)
Hugh Grant (Our Sons)
Eric McCormach (Will and Grace)
Gale Harold and Hal Sparks (Queer as Folks and the sex was pornography next to Blaine and Kurt)
Michael Ontkean (Making Love)
Mario Lopez (Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story)
Clive Owen (Bent)
Christian Campbell (Trick)
Christopher Meloni (Oz)
Matt Damon and Michael Douglas (Behind the Candelabra)
Paul Rudd (Object of My Affection)
The point is, you do not see these gentlemen going out of their way to prove the straightness. Why should they? They are comfortable being straight and being actors. They were paid to play a role and they played it.
Okay, for the detractors, yes, D is an actor and he was paid to play a role. The difference is, D’s team is yelling with megaphones from the bloody roof tops. How many times does the ‘straight’ word have to come up in one interview to make it believable? This smells like desperation and not much more.
D’s PR team reminds me of political handlers who are trying to spin a tale to defend their boss who just got caught with his pants down with some young man. All of sudden they pull the wife and kids out the front door to face the cameras to prove the man is straight even thought pictures are smeared over the internet. There are countless denials which only make it sound worse. Then, one day, after the wife has left and the kids are still trying to figure everything out, the politician admits to the dalliance.
Now, I might very well be wrong, but in my opinion, there is only one reason ‘straight’ comes up so often. D is not straight. They are far too obvious and that makes the whole charade unfathomable. If they wanted to make us believe D is straight, ramming it down our throats is not the way to do it.
It is not easy to come out of the closet, but many actors have.
Brandon Flynn
“We’ve been scared shitless our whole lives, thanks to all the stigmas that surround us,” the 24-year-old wrote in the post. “Equality takes courage, it worries me that too many people in this world lack the balls to stand up for what is right.” Since then, he's been romantically linked to singer-songwriter Sam Smith.
Teddy Quinlivan
The model capped off a busy New York Fashion Week in September by coming out as transgender in a candid CNN interview.  Quinlivan, 23, began her transition at 16, but decided to open up about her gender identity publicly because of “the political climate in the world right now ― particularly in the United States.”  “If being transgender is something that gets attached to my name throughout my career, then it’s for a worthy cause. But I look forward to the day when it doesn’t matter,” she said. “The transgender community needs more visibility. And with more visibility will come more acceptance.”
Haaz Sleiman
In August, Sleiman opened up about his sexuality in an emotional video as part of a personal effort to combat violence against the LGBTQ community. The "Nurse Jackie" and "Killing Jesus" actor, 41, announced that he was “a gay, Muslim, Arab-American man” in the video, but didn't stop there.
Thomas Dekker
The "Heroes" actor publicly opened up about his sexuality on Twitter in July, but suggested he was inspired to do so after a “prominent gay man” outed him.  The 32-year-old described himself as a “man who proudly loves other men” in a short essay he included with his tweet. He also revealed that he’d married his husband in April.
Jordan Gavaris
The “Orphan Black” star came out as gay in a June interview with New York Magazine's Vulture blog.  The 27-year-old star, who plays the “exuberantly gay” Felix Dawkins, seemed a bit surprised to be questioned about his sexual orientation. “Nobody ever asks me,” he said. “I’ve never been asked.”
Dan Amboyer
The "Younger" actor married his boyfriend, Eric Berger, in October, and came out as gay in the process.  Amboyer, 32, had been in a relationship with Berger for 10 years, but had not spoken publicly about his sexuality before. He told People that he'd been “strongly advised” to “stay quiet” about his personal life as he established himself as an actor.
Matt Bomer
"American Horror Story" actor and marble-carved-cheekbones owner Bomer acknowledged his partner, publicist Simon Halls, and their three kids in an emotional humanitarian award speech in 2012.
Colton Haynes
Beloved for both his physique and silly social media persona, the "Arrow" star hinted slyly he was not straight before formally coming out in 2016
Wentworth Miller
This actor and screenwriter was the portrait of brute masculinity in the 2005 Fox series "Prison Break," which made his heartfelt coming out in 2013 -- and subsequent admission to body image and depression struggles -- resonate all the more with fans.
The closet door is open. People are stepping out and thriving. In this day and age there is no need to stay in the dark.
