What do you think of when people write/draw Archie as dumb and Maxie as intelligent? This is one of my pet peeves because I can't believe Archie is dumb considering how far he was able to take his plans. I also can't consider Maxie very intelligent 'cause the guy wants to get rid of the ocean. Just because one of them is a jock and the other is a nerd doesn't mean they've got different levels of intelligence.
It really flattens their characters, because they're both more complex than that, like neither can be completely 'smart' because they both came to the wrong conclusion regarding both goals - saving humans by expanding land / saving pokemon by expanding the sea, they both failed to see how these wouldn't have worked.
They also can't be completely stupid because they manage to lead their teams, make plans to achieve their goals and more importantly, they have the wisdom and humility to accept their mistakes and turn over a new leaf.
Imo, they're very similar but just with different mannerisms, but ofc unfortunately characters get flattened and become memes

I noticed you replied to my ask and it seems like you misinterpreted my question! I did mean to ask why you think kana would be the most predictable choice for the endgame - is it just a feeling or did you notice some clues etc. while reading the chapters?
Ohhh my apologies anon, thank you for clearing that up for me! I have to admit that it didn't occur to me that other people may not notice it, to me it's just extremely blatant because of the basic tropes and clichés behind it: first girl wins, light to the boy's darkness, "oh he's his old self around her", etc. But in all honesty, the biggest thing to me is how the series just won't let us forget that Kana has feelings for Aqua. Remember when Aqua and Akane started dating for real and the manga was like: Have you seen how sad Kana is over him?? And that Aqua is obsessed with her? How sad, right? And here have Aqua and Akane on a date—but Aqua is attracted to Kana! And here is Kana crying over Aqua again!
It just stands out to me because they don't have the development to warrant that kind of attention, yet it's there. But mostly, it stands out to me because I've already lost two shipping wars for this very same reason and my gut won't let me forget lmao
But like I said before, it's possible that Aka wants us to feel this way because he is planning to subvert all these tropes and deliver a platonic Aqua and Kana ending. I can only hope that's the case, so that's the reading I want to focus on in my posts because it's the one I personally find the most interesting and rewarding set-up wise 😂

(this got a little long 😭😭)
venti:
his wings? absolutely massive. it takes more than a few people to get all the stuff out of it. vennessa, dvalin, and andrius like to sit down and groom his wings (all in human form, don’t wanna pull a feather out via claws!) they’re one of the few people he trusts to do it.
venti practices puns on zhongli. he picked them up from a few past friends (ragnvindr and bard, sometimes vennessa.)
whenever he gets excited, venti likes to run up to people, give them a hug from behind, and spin them both in the air. he did this a lot with vennessa, and usually smacked his wings into something in the process XD.
wispti LOVES to be (gently) tossed around. you can catch the bard swinging venti around his fingers like a butterfly knife at any given moment.
when lost in thought, venti will braid anything that’s in front of him. he has accidentally somehow braided his lyre strings once.
adding on to that last one: venti loves to crochet/sew. he’s a little embarrassed by how many braided projects he has. the thousand winds like to use them as scarfs.
when he’s very, very relaxed and comfortable, venti will make sounds he used to do as wispti. this includes chirping, trilling, chiming, purring—anything!
venti has a silly nickname for all his children. he’s accidentally called jean, “little dandy lion,” to her face once. they have both silently agreed to never bring it up. (jean secretly wishes he would do it again.)
venti will steal your clothes. if you are friends, and he is comfortable with you, Your Clothes Are Being Yoinked. this has happened with many people, but the pipeline so far has been nb -> vennessa -> jean. (they’re who he does it most too. it’s not his fault they have good styles!)
slightly angsty, venti has the original nb cloak, and pulls it out and around himself whenever he feels down. if he pretends enough, the hands holding his face are the bard’s.
collector:
pat their head. they Will bonk into like a cat would.
oh they absolutely do the flappy sleeves. sometimes they like to pretend they’re an “airplane” or a “bird” or a “really big dinosaur that could swallow you in one bite!”
he has matching plushies with almost… all the main cast? his favorites are king, luz, raine, and amity. (though all of them are his favorites, those are the ones he carries around the most.)
luz gives them a good witch azura book. she has read all of them to him. they do re-enactments of scenes sometimes, with everyone.
thinking….. about collector trying to get along with hunter. every time they are trying so hard not to ask “how did it feel to grow out the ground like a plant?”
collector has called hunter a sprout before. he didn’t get it.
collector either does not like shadow puppets, or likes them a lot. however, he loves puppet shows. sometimes he makes his own “scenes” with the plushies of his friends.
they made a little diy green slime. no one says anything when he twists and mangles it into nothing before fixing it. it’s therapeutic for them.
they made hats for all his friends. you know the little hat they wear in canon? he made personalized ones for the main cast. they all have little “things” at the dangling bit of the top part (think jester hat). like, hunter’s has a red bird!
luz has taught them what an “oc” is. he is unstoppable. (all of the ones he makes are based on his friends.)
loves loves loves to talk about space!!!! they will literally spend weeks talking to you about it, please ask them about stars, or galaxies, or the beginning of time.
loves nicknames. “little star,” is one of their favorites so far.
a very, very good narrator! during their book clubs with luz, they will make an entire theatre to act out parts. they try to make it as interesting as possible without breaking anything.
will mash together the most godawful abomination of foods. pancakes + glittery glue + pepperoni + cake frosting is one of their go-to’s.
every time he interacts with someone physically, like a hug, they are so so careful with it that it feels like nothing at all. they kind of know their strength, but he did also. maybe. punched a rock thirty feet below ground.
absolutely fascinated with the smallest things. once spent an entire day staring at a lava lamp.

i had a half hour talk in the presence of literally every important person in my field and FOUR people whose groups papers i read daily asked me questions after my talk and when i tell you i sat down afterwards and started shaking like a LEAF
#it went really well they were all happy w my results and my boss was like it was so good which he Never tells people they did well lmao#but the reason i typed all that is to preface this: who remembers aries guy??#last year around this time we started talking and we talked for a couple months and i seriously think he’s one of the most interesting#best conversation partners ive ever had like we just match so well but we kinda stopped talking because i can’t reply to texts consistently#and ive been doing the worst thing which is ignoring his existence and he came up to me and said it was a great talk and i want to CRY bc i#miss him but i messed it up 🥺 being an aqua sun and mercury is so damning (saying this so i don’t have to work on myself)

It was some early hour of the day.
That soft, grey time before dawn when everything is still.
The tower was mostly quiet; the brooms were bustling about doing their work and keeping the tower clean and aside their little movement, the tower was silent.
Padding softly down the halls, Vanitas walked with bare feet, his expression neutral, his gaze settled ahead as he walked, but not really seeing things. His thoughts were elsewhere; back in the graveyard and with the empty, wind whipped nights.
There'd never been any quiet there.
No stillness, no refuge from the constant storms.
He'd gotten used to it and now...
Now the soft quiet was eerie. It was hard to sleep with silence. Give him sound; give him noise; give him motion. He couldn't sleep with all this peace. All this damned peace and quiet.
It was too much.
Lights flickered on, powered by magic as he stepped into the kitchen. There was a broom in the corner, sweeping around, and Aqua was leaning against the counter, holding a bowl and a spoon in her slender hands. The hell was she doing in the dark? For a moment, Vanitas stood in the doorway, looking in at the room and briefly wondering what he was doing there.
Aqua looked at him and he glared back at her, his defences rising. She hated him so much. He saw it every time she looked at him. He heard it when she spoke to him. He saw it when she showed him things; he knew she believed he was irredeemable.
Hell, they all believed it.
Except Ventus, the fool was the only one who thought there was something worth saving in him. He knew they distrusted him. He knew they talked about him when he wasn't there. He knew they were waiting for him to turn on them.
And maybe he would.
Aqua was glaring at him.
Which was normal, she was always looking at him with hate in her eyes. He wondered what it was for this time. Was it about the fridge? Was it about the number he'd done on Roxas? That seemed more likely than the fridge. They'd woken up the whole damn tower that morning. Depriving them of their precious beauty sleep.
He'd nearly killed the Nobody.
It had been a frosty week in the tower after that, with everyone looking at him with vitriol and disappointment. What the hell had they expected though? Did they think he was just gonna, roll the fuck over and be a good little boy? Did they think a change of clothes was enough to change who he was?
He'd nearly killed Roxas and Aqua leaning against the counter in the kitchen, bowl of... whatever held in her hands.
And Vanitas dug his fingers into the door frame, his other hand curling into a shaking fist. She was thinking of all the ways she could end him. He just knew it. She was thinking of how best to grind him into black paste and smear in the dirt of the Graveyard.
What was he doing here? He should just leave Aqua to her bowl of mush. She didn't want him there! She didn't want to be near him! She... Was lifting an eyebrow and looking at him expectantly. He was still standing in the doorway and staring at her.
Vanitas looked away first, making an annoyed sound and yawning as he finally walked into the kitchen.
He hadn't seen Roxas, since that morning.
He knew the Nobody was still about the Tower, but he hadn't seen him.
Vanitas paused, his hand on a cupboard handle. Aqua yawned off to his right, her spoon clinking in her bowl. Something churned and burned hot in his stomach and eyes narrowing, he glared down at the counter top, chewing the inside of his cheek. What was that feeling? That awful gnawing that was hot and roiling and chewing on his insides.
He didn't know what it was.
He hadn't been sleeping much.
Laying awake, staring at the ceiling and looking into the bleak and poisonous corners of his own black soul. His hand tightened on the cupboard handle and he slowly pulled it open. He was tired. He was tired and that awful, hot, burn within him hadn't gone away in days.
He hadn't seen Roxas in over a week.
Aqua ate her cereal.
Vanitas opened his mouth and nothing came out. Swallowing, he ran his tongue over his dry lips and tried again.
“Have you...” God was that his voice? Exhausted and sleep deprived and so damn weak. “Seen Roxas?”
Vanitas was tired.
Yellow eyes narrowed and he looked sharply at her.
“I don't care.” He spat acidly. “But...” He looked away again, hand still on the cupboard handle, door hanging open. “How... Tch-!” Cutting himself with a bite to his tongue, he grabbed a glass out of the cupboard, slammed the door shut and shoved the glass under the faucet, pouring himself a drink of water. Walking over to the table, he threw himself into a heavy chair and gripped the glass tightly.
His eyes burned.
His throat was tight.
God, he needed sleep.
But, he hadn't seen Roxas in over a week.
Vanitas was tired.

1. How many words have you written this year?
Officially on AO3, 2,861 words; writer's block has been rough.
Unofficially?
*deep breath*
I'm one of the head writers of the Pirates SMP recap documents and I've written nearly 39k in the past just-over-4 months, though that includes links. (Some other folks helped out occasionally but it's mostly been just me.) And it's spread out over 2 documents for official/unofficial version split (official version has official VODs only).
And then there's the TV Tropes pages for SEVERAL series (main writer for Empires, Rats, WCSMP, New Life, Pirates; one of the main writers for the Life series; occasional additions for Hermitcraft and QSMP).
I also have a Life series spreadsheet made this year covering deaths and kills. And then there's the Empires worldbuilding headcanon docs, the Pirates worldbuilding headcanon docs, the conlang docs, lots more archive docs and recap Tumblr posts… man, I forgot I also did a little YouTube earlier this year.
…I've lost count how many words I've actually written with all that TBH
Disclaimer: The above does not include the essays I have written for academic reasons in university courses.
6. Favorite title you used
Can't pick between my AO3 titles this year.
For the Pirates recap, I'd say "Tea Party for Two" (Oct 22), "The Cruppy Cleaning Catastrophe" (Nov 12), and "Forever Hold Your Peace" (Dec 1, I had that title planned for months).
27. What do you listen to while writing?
I don't think I listened to much while writing :/
But I can say I listened to "Theater/Engeki" by Hoehoe-P for Project SEKAI COLRFUL STAGE! ft. Hatsune Miku between writing sessions for "The Morning Falls Nonetheless" because the fic title (translated into English) is from that song.
The most I can think of while writing is writing the Pirates SMP recaps while watching the livestreams live (and that has done a number on my sleep schedule, oh boy).
