// This is just my personal opinion, but innocence and Megatron don't often go together well for me. I mean this from an entirely pre-war perspective when I say innocent. I often see people portraying him as this sweet, kind, innocent person, and although we know a 4 million year war can totally change people (and Megatron dealt with a LOT), I still feel like those things stem from a deeper place of violence and trauma that he'd had to cope and deal with from the beginning of his life.

I've never seen Megatron as an innocent. Innocent in the sense that he was obviously not born/created as a killer. No one is (although there's that funny little nature vs nurture argument that we still haven't managed to put our finger on). At the end of the day, people are all shaped by what is around them and how they manage to cope with those things. Some people snap, some people don't. What makes those people snap, though? Well, we've not quite figured that out yet.

if you put two people in the same scenario, they could still turn out completely different--whether or not genetics makes a difference (as a twin, I find this stuff interesting as well, because despite that, twins can still grow up to be very different people). People perceive things differently and uniquely, and thus we all feel differently and cope differently.

Megatron grew up in one of the hardest environments on Cybertron, I just can't see him being sweet and innocent. There's always been a gruffness about him, a temper, and a broodiness.

I have big issues with how soft MTMTE made him, because it just doesn't feel entirely Megatron. And therefore, it doesn't feel genuine to me, but a way for them to just slap a "good guy" badge on him (let's be honest, it's not that black and white and it never should be). It feels like we're supposed to believe this lovely, sweet, innocent peace keeping poet just dropped everything he believed in one day to become a warlord that murdered and killed whenever he pleased, and it's just not believable to me.

Megatron Origins did a really good take on his earlier life. It showed the harsh conditions that Megatron lived under, it showed the pressure building, and it showed a reasonable young mech snapping beneath that pressure (which we also know people can do). But it being a one shot comic, it was enough to get that GLIMPSE and not have to expand too much on it, which MTMTE ended up doing as it was a much longer running comic series. It then felt... pressured? To me, I guess? That we must see this nice, peaceful mech who Megatron once was if we're to believe he's REALLY going to keep the peace post-war. Fools energon makes him weak (even if it's a placebo), because everyone is worried he doesn't snap, and I'm kind of... annoyed he doesn't? Because people CAN heal, yes, but not often without setbacks and taking one step backwards before taking another forward.

And I think that's my biggest gripe. Megatron never came from a happy place. That doesn't mean he can't be kind (people choose kindness over violence every day even though they've been brought up around it). Like I said, Megatron wasn't born a killer. But there's just something that never sits well with seeing him as some sweet, innocent mech who is cheery and kind.

I want to see that inner turmoil that was building up to the point of exhaustion. I want to see his frustration at the state of the world, and the PASSION behind the words that he wrote. I understand he was a "peace keeper" in MTMTE's flashbacks, but honestly, I wish he was the young, angry, passionate revolutionist that we missed out on seeing. Because that anger, that passion, that crazed and twisted world he ended up making came from those feelings. And I have a hard time with MTMTE's version of Megatron and seeing how he turned out to be the thing he hated most when there's no real UNF in that younger Megatron.

Another reason why my Megatron is just heavily HC based tho and I don't follow the MTMTE timeline.

Don't Ship It

I like them as besties, and I know they're canonically romantically involved, but I have a very weird reason for not shipping it. I blame being a Scorpio because Scorpios have notorious jealous streaks. LOL. I wasn't jealous of Natasha! It's just that I really dislike her portrayal by ScarJo (plus I downright don't like ScarJo for a myriad of reasons) but I had a partner that RP'd Bucky and liked having multiverse versions of him and he was often romantically involved with a different person in each one. I RP'd a Loki in one of those verses, but I had a hard time dealing with the other versions, especially the Natasha one. Probably because that RP was super important to me; we literally fell in love while writing Bucky and Loki falling in love. So I was kind of possessive of him. My partner didn't feel the same and was very verbally affectionate with their other writing partners. And even after I shared that I didn't particularly like that ship, they continued to kind of shove it in my face. So I grew to kind of hate the ship. I don't hate it now, but I still don't ship it.

What would have made you like it?

I'd probably enjoy it if it was a different actress in the role of Natasha. Bc I have seen some of the comic panels and I do like some of the SLs they had going on in the comics.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

Despite not shipping it, I've still inserted it into some of my fics. Well, two of them. In Don't Think I Don't Think About It, Loki and Tony rekindle their romance at Bucky and Natasha's wedding. I needed to write a couple getting married and I didn't want to use Steve and Peggy or Thor and Jane/Sif again. So I used Bucky and Natasha. In another, Black Light Special, I had them as a past relationship, making it hard for Clint to accept Steve's request that Bucky move into the Tower. I guess I don't mind thinking of them as exes. I just prefer Natasha with Clint (and in one WIP with Sam...for a while) and I prefer Bucky with Loki, Steve, or Tony.

What made you ship it?

Same as most of the ships I ship -- RP'ing. My ex-partner and I Rp'd a lot lol. But we did alternative versions. I don't remember who they had as Bucky (but it wasn't Sebastian) but I had Jared Leto as my Tony. There's just so much to explore with them emotionally and, if you're doing basic canon, their intertwined backgrounds. I mean, can you imagine being in love with the man responsible for making you an orphan?

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Similar reasons I love Frostiron probably, i.e. sarcasm and smarts. But also, there's a bond there over shared trauma. They were both forced to endure body mutilation they didn't consent to -- Bucky's arm, Tony's reactor. Guilt over the number of lives destroyed by their hand -- Bucky as the Winter Soldier, Tony as the "Merchant of Death." They both suffer from PTSD, but they also both keep trying to redeem themselves and put themselves on the line to get that redemption. Both joined the fight in Infinity War even though they'd found some semblance of peace.

On the more positive side, they're both science nerds. I've always thought Bucky had a bit of the amateur mechanic in him with a love of cars -- especially the beauties from the 1930s and 40s -- and Tony would be eager to show off his collection and maybe fix up a car or two with Bucky. Plus, there would be time spent nerding out over Bucky's arm, in Tony's case anyway.

I just think there's a lot there to provide both angst and feels.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Ok, I have answered similar questions here, here and here.

That said, my rule is that every time I am asked abt my faves, I will add new ones in an endless chain :’’’). So, actually thank you very much for this ask. It is always fun to talk about faves!

That said, my new “faves” are not all anime characters. Still, I hope you would still enjoy reading about them. I have mentioned some of them in this other list, but I have not explained why.

As usual, in no particular order.

1) Suzuha Amane (Steins;Gate)

She has my favourite story in the series. She is an example of why I think Time Travel can be enriching when it comes to characters and relationships, if well used. She is basically a child soldier from a bad future and seeing her enjoy herself in a peaceful time is delightful. At the same time, I love how she ends up being so important for different people in many different ways because of her time travels. She ends up being both daughter and friends, big sister and little sister, mentor and disciple of the same characters. She manages to experience many different relationships with the same people and this ends up making her story and her character beautiful. At the same time sad and hopeful.

2) Fragile (Death Stranding)

I have talked about her here. Fragile embodies one of the thematic hearts of Death Stranding imo. She embodies the beauty of humanity. A humanity who is fragile, but not that fragile. It is a humanity that specifically because it is frail is beautiful and must be protected. It is a humanity that wishes to reconnect and to build something new. A humanity who is frail, but not weak.

3) Yosano Akiko (BSD)

Yosano (together with Chuuya) has one of my favourite backgrounds in the whole series. Her background is great because it explores how a healing power can be used in a disastrous and utilitaristic way. It is also a story that highlights the strong link between death and life and how death is a part of life and also something that in specific situation gives value to life itself. In short, her story and character are incredibly complex and deep.

4) Mikasa Ackerman (Snk)

I have written about her multiple times. In particular, this is why I love her. Mikasa is for me an incredible refreshing character and her story and character moments are all all very beautiful and delicate, but also powerful.

5) Gabi Braun (Snk)

I like children characters that are also complex. Gabi is like this. She is a kid, but has a very well defined personality and you can clearly see why she is how she is at the beginning of the story. However, she is also challenged and is able to grow and to bloom. I like what her arc represents and her relationship with Falco is very cute. I also like that she is able to be useful in fights despite being a child and not having superpowers. Her ability are well fleshed out since the beginning and they remain as a constant throughout her story.

6) Emerald and Mercury (Rwby)

I adore them. They are the reason why I am currently so passionate about Rwby tbh.

They clearly represent two different sides of Cinder and are linked to the root of who she deep down is. Moreover, they are two very complex characters on their own rights and have opposite strengths and weaknesses.

Emerald is a child hungry for love who would even accept wasted food to try and fill that hole she has inside of her. She steals from others to feel whole, but she is never able to truly get what she wants.

So, she traps both others and herself inside complex illusions and refuses to use her (very powerful) gifts for others. Despite this, it is clear that she has an incredibly high potential to care... she fights her feelings, but they are very slowly resurfacing. She is a gemstone covered in dirt (I am the one, who rose out of filth and was loved by no-one) and her outfit clearly conveys this as well.

Mercury is a child who has been hurt so badly he thinks he can’t be anything else, but what his abuser told him he is. He killed his father, but is still very clearly stuck in a cycle he can’t escape and that will repeat itself forever, if he does not manage to change. Before there was his father, then Cinder and now Tyrian.

He very clearly lashes out at others because he feels he is less than them in a way (he has no semblance, he has lost a part of himself). However, it is clear he has within himself still the ability to care. He very obviously cares about Emerald and tries to protect her in a misguided way. His attempt to help her are honestly just heart-breaking. He wants her to be safe, but has no idea of what a safe environment is.

In short, Emerald and Mercury are very clearly two abused children, who react to their abuse in different ways. Mercury’s sense of self is so fragile he just kills it and tries to fit where he is, while Emerald develops her semblance aka that part of her she uses to hide her true self behind.

8) Allison Hargreeves (The Umbrella Academy)

I love Allison’s powers and arc in both the series and the comics. I would love to write a meta about her eventually :’’’) Probably when TUA comes back and I feel motivated again. Anyway, I love that in the show her story is basically about her finding her authentic voice. She has lived a life made of lies and now she is trying to discover who she truly is and has trouble accepting her powers as a part of herself. Who is she without them? When should she use them? How? And won’t she disappear behind them if she uses them? How can she be herself with her powers? And how can she be herself wthout them?

What is true and what is not?

Allison’s arc is basically a very nuanced answer to this complicated question.

9) Five Hargreeves (The Umbrella Academy)

Five is my favourite character of the series. I love him very very much. He is a tragic character because he is so active, but his actions end up creating more problems than solutions. To avoid the apocalypse he should simply spend time with his siblings and care for them as people, who he does, but often fails to convey to them. I also like how in both seasons his power are fundamental for the plot and are used in the finale to solve the conflict.

He spends the majority of season 1 doing everything alone and ends it, by choosing to bring his siblings with him.

Season 2 happens because Five aims too high (a mirror of how he always values the bigger picture instead than the small meaningful moments with his family). This is why in the finale he travels back of only some seconds, just enough to prevent the deaths of his loved ones.

10) Levi Ackerman (Snk)

I love that Levi is such an important character both in terms of plot and in terms of themes. I think the Serum Bowl is one of the hearts of Shinjeki no Kyojin and one of the moments where the theme of freedom and choice is explored in its more nuanced way.

11) Krel Tarron (Tales of Arcadia)

I love Krel’s development. It is subtle, but it is very effective. Krell deep down wants companionship, but uses his own bias to put distance between him and others, so that he can’t be refused. Seeing him defrosting and becoming warmer because of his friendship with others is great! And I love his dynamic with Aja and how the two sibling are complementary and grow in opposite directions. I really like their arcs and their complementarity.

BONUS: Cinder Fall (Rwby) and Viren (Tdp)

They are bonus characters because they are not faves on an emotional level. However, I really like how they are written and that they both form a complex trio of foiling with two kids characters (and the kids characters are in both cases faves).

They are both two complex villains with complicated motivations that tie in their own self identities. They are also very clearly not the final villains of the series, but are still pretty much at the centre of the conflict of their respective stories.

Hi I love your blog layout it so tidy!! Also would it be alright if I got a bnha matchup please?. My pronouns are she/her and I'm bisexual. My personality type is ISTJ, I'm a sagittarius sun, scorpio moon and libra rising. To the public I'm pretty closed off/reserved but with my friends I'm brave, loyal and love to laugh. I don't trust easily and I'm pretty cautious of everyone so I try to keep out of the way.

My hobbies include gymnastics which I did competitively and won a few medals, I also do figure skating and have leveled up pretty quickly at that. I workout everyday because even though I dont compete now I still want to improve and if anything I'm better now than I was back then.

I like indie music, horror movies mainly psychological, nature and wildlife and the peace and quiet it brings. I hate loud, busy places, untidy, dirty things and people messing up my routine.

My love language is quality time like I just wanna be around that person a lot. I think the love language that speaks to me most is probably also quality time, like the fact that they would want to be around me willingly seems so unfamiliar I love the idea of it. Also words of affirmation or physical touch, I'm awkward at giving those but receiving them would make me melt cause I'm not really used to any of it. My ideal dates are simple things like going on walks at like 3am or dancing in the livingroom or movie nights just cheap simple things like that.

In my opinion, I feel that Mina is the perfect match for you!! First lets get some compatible basics out of the way. Like our good friend Kirishima above, Minas MBTI is also an ESFP (according to the personality database lol). As we know, ESFPs tend to be the most compatible with ISTJs. To add onto that, Mina just so happens to be a Leo!! Leos and Sagittarius's are often compared to soulmates and having a twin flame like connection! always felt a disconnect w/ being a girl, but never felt it a big enough deal to be trans over, if you get me anyway I've always been convinced I'm asexual, 18 and don't think I've ever felt any kind of attraction but upon getting into broadway shows where gay characters are more common, (also.. fanfic) I think maybe I'd like that w/ a guy but Only if I was. also a guy why have I never felt attracted to guys in the context of being a straight girl, is that a trans thing, or am I being weird?

so frankly there's a reason why people emphasize that sexuality is different from gender identity & this touches upon it. that being said I'm biased towards thinking you’re trans because we’ve having isolated the sexuality variable that you’re asking about, which is a different variable than gender identity. so my point being is that having a romantic partner & having a certain gender identity are 2 very different tasks.

basically imagining you have a different body when having sexual fantasies is actually common amongst both cis & trans people. often this is reported amongst women, as "relating" to certain sexual energies put out by characters, (celebrities, music stars, etc.) etc. while I'm not sure about the gender neutrality of this activity, as a feminist i bias towards assuming verbs are gender neutral. so basically i know she be a bit horrid & can have some bad takes regarding gender studies instead of say anti- fascism, but I'm going to link a Contrapoints video, specifically the "autogynephilia" one. this is because with your current situation you are going to need to know the finer point so that transphobes don't make you insecure.

you need to look outside the bedroom. you need to decide whether you'd want to be a boy if you weren't in a gay relationship. you also need to know that being no-op as opposed to pre-op & post-op is valid & that you also don't need to be on HRT. what's important is what's a simpler self-image for your own processing of yourself with the world?

it helps to know that sexuality changes uncontrollably when puberty strikes, so you could very well end up being a straight guy or an ace guy or a bi guy after going on testosterone. you can also still get pregnant as a trans man even if your periods stop.

if your entire point is to be in an M/M relationship I think you need to experiment, but going thru a whole transition of hormones &or social transition for the purpose of sexuality experimentation is foolish. i don’t know how to experiment this.

i also remember from a comic strip about asexual relatables that having sexual fantasies that aren't achievable is common enough, that you do feel it in your dreams or whatever but when you wake up you don't. this maybe falls under this experience.

so basically you need to look into other parts of your life to see whether processing youself as a different gender identity helps you. if you look into experimenting with your sexuality that won’t tell you anything about your gender identity because verbs & roles are gender neutral.

personally, as a bisexual person, i’m also biased to seeing everything as “unisex”, so maybe that unisexness may be something cool to keep in mind, especially as you question your sexuality & your gender identity. (we have alignment systems such as the Galactian one.)

Just curious, but why don't you ever have Kuro romantically participating when you talk about Kuromahisaku headcanons? I always thought he'd be pretty clingy, myself, if he had people that important to him that he'd take the jump to a relationship.

Another message I am a day late to aaaaaaaaaaa sorry.

But…. I really had to think about this one anyway… cause I don’t know what you are trying to say with “ever” right there, cause? I don’t have a ton of KuroMahiSaku stuff, most of it is pretty far and few in between, but in my own works I have definitely had Kuro participating “romantically” so I don’t know why we are jumping to any conclusions or assumptions here? -3-);;

I have a had him being affectionate, protective and even somewhat jealous before in comics/artwork. I would have a lot more but I don’t finish shit and it’s very unfortunate. RIP. (and some of the things I do are just meant to be silly and not taken too serious anyway. 😂 but I think people still do? So oh well, what can I do?)

Also??? I don’t actually talk about KuroMahiSaku headcanons here very often anyways? I actually keep most of them to myself, unless someone asks me about it or something. Sometimes I babble about it in dm messages with a friend or even in chat servers, but here? Not really??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But how I see each of the characters affects how I see the relationship working out. I definitely have a lot ideas and thoughts for Kuro. I see him being sweet, somewhat shyer and not sure how to ask for certain affections sometimes or has small difficulty expressing his feelings but definitely wants those things. A much more simple (no pun intended haha) kind of love. Doing things like giving a casual kiss on the cheek or lips, cuddling while he naps, leaning against the other to relax and so on. I could go on, but you get the idea I hope. Basically, he gradually becomes more and more comfortable with those kinds of things and doing so much more. 💙

The idea of KuroMahiSaku is kind of funny to me sometimes. Like…. when you think about it realistically, the three of them don’t seem to have a lot of relationship experience. I could be wrong, but there’s not much evidence of any of that of course. Servamp isn’t a series about romance. Despite it’s somehow ended up under the “shojo” category once, like what? Is it still considered that? Cause it definitely ain’t your typical shojo haha

I would expect Kuro to have the most experience because, yeah, literally the oldest out of the three. But he hasn’t really had another eve before and never had any subclass either. So??????? But has he ever had a past romantic relationship? That’s extremely up in the air still, so who knows? There is so much potential in his past.

There is so much potential that these three have together in my opinion.

KuroMahiSaku doesn’t necessarily have to be 100% romantic.

it definitely wouldn’t start out that way at least.

Another thought I have about Kuro is I think he would definitely be a bit wary of Sakuya at first and them becoming close at all would take some time. So would building up any kind of trust. If it ever becomes possible for that to happen I would think. They haven’t had their chance to get to know the other yet.

Cause I remember quite awhile ago in another ask I ended up discussing “You know what…where did some of us, including myself at some point, get the idea Kuro and Sakuya hate each other?”

Read about that if you want, but my main thought with that is just, Kuro for sure has to understand that Sakuya is definitely important to Mahiru.

You know.

Just like how any of his other friends are to him and as his Servamp, Kuro helps Mahiru to achieve his goal of wanting to protect others. Kuro is an equally understanding person. He has grown so much since the beginning. Sloth Pair together has grown so much.

I’M SORRY BUT I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS REAL QUICK CAUSE I HAVE MANY FEELINGS ABOUT A LOT OF THIS STUFF

All of Mahiru’s friends (Lust Pair, Greed Pair, Pride Pair ,Ryusei, Koyuki and so many more.) the people he wants to save/protect are all unique and ALL have their own unique flaws/troubled pasts. They are all important to Mahiru in their own way because each relationship he has with them is different and Sakuya is definitely one of them. Sakuya was originally one of Mahiru’s main motivations. His contract with Kuro began because Mahiru wanted to be able to help his friends and even though Sakuya isn’t Mahiru’s number one priority anymore(because he has so many other things to worry about right now. There is too much going on and out of his control.) but it’s obvious Mahiru still thinks/worries about Sakuya.

Mahiru probably always remembers his promise to Sakuya in the back of his mind a lot too. There’s many examples of this. A lot of the time when Mahiru worries about Kuro, Sakuya sometimes ends up coming up too. He comes up whenever Mahiru defends vampires in general. Mahiru knows the truth about them BOTH.

(SOME CHAPTER 67 SPOILERS HERE, BUT I FEEL THIS IS IMPORTANT)

Mahiru seems to think about them both a lot. The look on Mahiru’s face in both these pages hurt so much because this chapter was about Mahiru’s thoughts, some of his past and motivations. He wanted to be someone’s “Pride”.

This isn’t even about shipping anymore. I just have too many feelings about these guys in general, romantic or not. This is valid stuff about them.

But back to the Kuro stuff. Again, he definitely knows and understands that Sakuya is a friend to Mahiru and a person he wants to protect too, HE’S GOT TO KNOW.

Kuro was there for the fight, he has there on the rooftop, he heard their conversation and apologies.

If Sakuya really bothered Kuro…. wouldn’t he have said something then or by now? Or will he ever? There really isn’t a reason for Kuro to hate Sakuya now. Not while Kuro trusts Mahiru’s decisions. Part of Sloth Pair’s development and bond is how much they trust and respect each other decisions more than ever now.

So as long as Mahiru considers Sakuya a friend, Kuro likely will too.

There hasn’t been a super obvious statement or moment yet that has convinced me that he does hate him. I won’t believe it until I actually see concrete evidence.

Kuro doesn’t hate anyone Mahiru cares about. Kuro doesn’t come off to me as a jealous person but a protective one instead. We all know Kuro is very protective of Mahiru.

So that’s why I feel so much about Kuro and Sakuya potentially being friends someday. If they had the chance to talk or be friends, I feel Kuro would actually try his best with Sakuya even if he would potentially be wary of him. I can definitely see Sakuya being a lot more cautious about Kuro and have a super hard time trusting him. But it’s possible, I could be wrong, but I still think it’s just very possible if they ever get the chance.

A good example of Kuro potentially befriending Sakuya, is because of Tsubaki. Kuro and Mahiru both want to “stop” Tsubaki, sure but they don’t want to kill him. They just want their friends and the rest of the Servamps safe is all. It’s been established in the anime and manga that Kuro wants to solves things with Tsubaki in non-lethal way and wants to give him a chance even if it’s dangerous.

They want to talk to him then want to fix things between both sides. They believe he deserves to have a chance to be in the Servamp family still. So I can definitely see Kuro accepting others like Sakuya too and make peace with them. Kuro wanted things to be peaceful anyway.

I have so many more thoughts and stuff I could talk about from canon that makes me link these 3 together or why these relationships are both important to me in their own way. But I’m starting to ramble again.

So that’s why I actually do have a lot of feelings and thoughts on “KuroMahiSaku” and each of them in it. Cause the basis of it just comes from the fact that I never once thought either relationship(romantic or not, or however you see it) should be considered lesser for those reasons. Again, all my opinion but I hope people can understand this better. What I show in silly or in published vs. unpublished works isn’t always accurate to how I feel. But different interpretations are what makes things interesting after all.

That’s why I think it’s silly when I hear about people trying to put others against each other or just want to argue and be mad over such a thing. It’s rare, but it happens and it’s not worth it. Ever.

This whole relationship all ends in I just want them to be happy. Sure, we have our ships or we even don’t ship anything, but ships in the end don’t mean anything to me either. It would be great if one happened, but I truly just want them all to be happy and get along at the end, at the very least. ❤💚💙

Hi, can you compare team taka to team 7? I mean, I want to know why you think that Taka members are better friends for Sasuke than team 7 (I'm referring to one o your post) and I don't want to be rude (if that sounded like that- I'm sorry), I'm just curious about you opinion ✌️

If Sasuke were a flower, Team7 would pick it up and put it in a vase, not caring about its well-being, only about their own enjoyment, while Team Taka would sit on the grass and admire it, making sure of not stepping over it.

(anti-S*kura, anti-N*ruto, anti-SS, anti-ending, anti-Team7 long post under the cut. It’s my opinion, on my blog, PROPERLY TAGGED. Which means that if someone decides to bitch aboout it they’re just looking for trouble)

I’m not offended, why would I be? I find it annoying when I receive troll messages that clearly want to raise drama over anti vs pro stuff, or when I receive asks I already replied to, not real ones.

Preliminary notice: I don’t hate S*kura when she’s at her best, like being her own person living her own life, getting stronger and interacting with characters she is herself with. All the negative things I sayabout her refer to her behavior around Sasuke, or around N*ruto, whenever Sasuke is concerned. Also I find N*ruto’s possessive side interesting, because it makes him less of a random shounen protagonist, and more of a layered character that is not just a ball of sunshine.

Team7’s teamwork was terrible most of the time, S*kura was mostly concerned with Sasuke without considering N*ruto, who instead wanted to shine. Of all them Sasuke was the best at teamwork. He put his life on the line to protect them. He gave them support when they needed it, like sharing hisfood with N*ruto, or training with him when he wasn’t able to focus chakra on his feet and climb trees, or when he discreetly cheered S*kura up when she was worried about the chuunin exam. They eventually got better, but still they didn’t really act as a real, mutually supportive team, not as well as Team10 or Team8, who have excellent teamwork and great friendship.

N*ruto and S*kura cared about Sasuke in their own way, but they never stopped to think what Sasuke really wanted and why. When S*kura tried to stop Sasuke from leaving, in part 1, she made it all about her, like don’t leave me, I have family but I’ll be sad if you leave me, I’ll do anything to make you happy. It was all about her. Just like she did the second time. During the war she was self-centered, as the reunited Team7 was fighting, she was thinking about finally showing the boys that she was equal to them now, instead of focusing on a war that was putting everyone in danger, from the comrades around her to her parents back home. And when it’s over she makes it again about her, when she starts whining and crying, if you care about me don’t leave, I love you, things can return the way they used to be…she never realized that for Sasuke things weren’t fine. Despite she was always watching him and had a crush on him. Even though she met him after he killed Danzo so she might have easily learned the truth. But she was too set on killing him without knowing his reasons. No matter how you put this, her behavior is nothing like being a good friend. Or a friend. Or a comrade.

N*ruto is definitely not as oblivious, because he knows Sasuke’s loneliness and he shares a bond with him, but he’s selfish too. He imposes his own ideas and wishes on Sasuke all the time, not realizing that while to him being happy meant having friends and being acknowledged in the village, to Sasuke they meant nothing, because more than friends he wanted his family back, because what he wanted was revenge, and even though he had cherished their time together, he had another goal ahead, without which he’d feel useless and lost. N*ruto threatened to break Sasuke’s bones to drag him back to the village, which is very possessive and selfish. Not to mention the whole “I’ll either defeat you or we’ll die togehter”, and how he imposed his own ideas on how a Hokage should be (more like he said nothing but he said it out loud) not even listening to Sasuke’s, instead using his love for Itachi as a (manipulative) weapon, claiming that he hadn’t understood him at all, hinting that he had understood him instead. And in the end, after having promised him help to change the world, he let Kakashi treat him like a child who did something stupid, instead of someone who tried to obtain the justice his brother and his family deserved. I mean, I know he means well with Sasuke, he’s just too self-centered to put himself in his shoes, and besides I’m all in for possessive domineering Naruto in Nar*sasu scenarios, but it’s nothing like being a good friend. Not like Team Taka anyway.

Team Taka is different.

When Suigetsu and Karin were fighting because no one took Suigetsu’s sword after the fight vs Killer B, Juugo made them stop saying “our relationship is like fish and water”, to remind them of how close they had become, and how they lost the sword protecting each other. It’s a very strong and beautiful way to define it.

They aren’t from the same village, there is no common ideal or belief. They are different people with different pasts. What they have in common is that they’re all alone and troubled, even though they’re not given the space they deserve, their background is often downplayed and a lot of their moments are written for comic relief.

Suigetsu is Orochimaru’s prisoner since who knows how long, he had a brother who died, there isn’t much about him and despite he’s a fun character, he surely didn’t have it easy. Juugo is bipolar, he’s a gentle creature but when his dark side takes over he becomes violent and bloodthristy, killing people and then getting consumed by remorse, he only loved Kimimaro who died, he willingly accepted prison so not to harm anyone, Orochimaru did experiments with his blood to create the curse mark, including let him kill other prisoners. Karin is the only survivor of a destroyed village, which is very similar to Sasuke’s story, she lost her mother who had her same ability to heal with her chakra, she was bitten and used, literally, by every shinobi ever, so much that her savior was Orochimaru, an evil guy, who used her for experiments but gave her more safety than she ever had.

There is nothing about Sasuke’s years in Sound. It would be interesting to know more about him getting to know their abilities and decide to recruit them. What we see is that he’s certain about them. He needs them for his goal, finding and killing Itachi, but he gives them freedom first, he tells them he won’t force them to follow him, before he explains his goal. If they refused he’d just let them go their own way.

They aren’t bound by some code of honor, yet they stay, helping him find Itachi first, then staying by his side when he decides to destroy Konoha. They have nothing against that village and they know it’s a dangerous mission, but they don’t hesitate. Because Sasuke, their leader, but most of it all their comrade, friend and savior, needs them.

(Suigetsu, who’s usually snarky and sarcastic, frees prisoners in Orochimaru’s hideout telling them to spread the word about Sasuke, the person who will bring peace to the world. This was later downplayed and overlooked, but it’s a strong statement, that speaks volumes of how much Team Taka appreciated Sasuke, not -just- for his looks or his coolness, but in a deeper way)

They’re not convinced of his decision of joinin Akatsuki but they stay, they fight Killer B with the best teamwork ever, just rewatch that fght and you’ll see the difference with Team7, who trained a lot to get nowhere near their level. They fight and get hurt and risk their lives to protect each other. Sasuke activates Amaterasu control to estinguish the flames injuring KArin, who previously had healed him, Juugo heals Sasuke to the cost of turning into a child, Suigetsu protected them as they left. Same when they attacked the Hokage meeting, another dangerous situation where they were outpowered, yet they didn’t back down. No matter how risky, no matter how reckless and old their friend become, maybe precisely because their friend had become like that, he needed them.

Later, they end up split because of circumstances. Karin is almost killed by Sasuke and then is captured and taken to Konoha, Sasuke gets Itachi’s eyes transplanted so he stays in the hideout, Juugo and Suigetsu manage to get free and wander, but still, when Suigetsu finds the scroll with the Edo Tensei the first thing he thinks about is giving it to Sasuke, and certainly not just because he’s better at doing it, but because he still sees him as their leader. Same for Karin, whose love and loyalty to Sasuke should not just be used as comic relief, since not only she followed him promptly, but she was the first one to jump in to action when he was almost dead, not fearing to get hurt or almost killed, and unleashing Kushina’s power for him, followed by Suigetsu and Juugo. I won’t consider Gaiden that much even though KArin’s loyalty was absolute there, and Suigetsu and Juugo were the same, only because I hate that the ending put them aside.

Team Taka was selfless and tolerant, they always respected Sasuke’s will, when they disagreed with him they voiced it, but they never imposed anything, neither their ideas nor their feelings, instead following his lead and supporting him unconditionally. And Sasuke cared for them and respected them too. That’s why I say they’re the best team and the best friends Sasuke can have. I hope this answers your question~
