Poes as Foes in TotK
Something that would’ve been a cool addition to the Depths in TotK would’ve been malicious Poes as a tough enemy or roaming boss in the same way as Froxes. The Depths seem like the perfect environment for them. I don’t mind the idea of collecting Poe souls for the bargainer statues, but I remember how I became excited when I consulted that first statue in Lookout Landing and heard about their existence in the game, only to be disappointed when I found out they were just a collectible.
Tumblr media
Poes are a classic enemy in Zelda games, and given some of the cool adaptations we’ve seen of old enemies in BotW and TotK, I feel like we could’ve seen a great take on this ghastly foe.
I could easily see tough Poes yielding greater amounts of Poe souls for us to collect, or even special souls that we could take for rare prizes or upgrades at the bargainer statues.
On top of that, there’s a general lack of enemy and landscape feature variety in the Depths that I think Poes could’ve helped add to. We had the Gerudo Underground Cemetary filled with Gibdos, so why not other places of burial or even underground battlefields that Poes have chosen as their haunts.
And just like angler fish in the darkest parts of the ocean, imagine a swaying light in the pitch black of the Depths waving back and forth, luring you in, only for you to be at the mercy of a Poe once its trap is sprung. It phases in and out of existence, taunting and hitting you from odd angles with spectral flames and smacks of a lantern.
Once you’ve defeated it and claimed its soul, a hidden grave pulls back to reveal a reward: some prized possession it once clung to in life along with the countless souls it collected over the ages from its ruse.

I think what particularly annoys me with the "zelda was always gameplay before story" is that... it's not true? At least I don't think it's true in the way people mean it.
Zelda games were always kind of integrating story based on the standards of the time. When game stories were in game pamphlets, Zelda's stories was in the pamphlets. ALTTP tried to tell a pretty complicated stories with the limitations of the time. OoT was actively trying to tell an epic, cinematic tale packed with ambiance and expand what 3D could offer that 2D games struggled with. Majora's Mask is deeply character-driven in many, many ways. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are both pretty concerned about their stories, down to the point that some people were bored by TP's cutscenes in particular. Skyward Sword, from what little I have played it, is very very invested in its characters and their journey (and 2D Zeldas have Link's Awakening, Minish Cap... None of them are visual novels, but they are concerned with emotional journeys, character arcs, mysteries about their own world...)
What is true is that the narrative wraps around the mechanics, and not the other way around. The mechanics drive themes, aesthetics, emotional beats and character journeys; and that's great. The world is a puzzle, and the world is delightfully absurd when it needs to be, full of heart when it calls for it, dark and oppressive when it suits the player experience.
That does not mean the games aren't invested in their stories. Even BotW has a pretty complicated story to tell about an entire world rather than one specific tale or legend --all of it at the service of the gameplay, which is exploration and mastery of your environment.
So. Yes, none of the Zelda games are million-words long visual novels that care deeply about consistency and nuance; but stories don't need consistency or deep lore to be meaningful and serve an emotional journey. Again: gameplay is story. The two cannot be so easily parsed from each other.
And Zelda as a franchise obviously care deeply about story, characters and setting (and still does right now --otherwise there wouldn't be a movie), even if it doesn't try to imitate prestige narrative-driven games, which is great and part of why I love this series so much. Doesn't mean it couldn't have done better in the past, it obviously could have, but I feel like pretending that nobody ever cared about story or character is just... false? It's a huge disservice to the devs too. Some of them obviously cared immensely.
The "gameplay above story", at least in the extent to which it is paraded today to defend TotK, mostly, is a really recent development. And I think it's one that deserves to receive some pushback.

Talk Nerdy
Listen, Erik said Link would be Vincent's main in Smash Bros because Vincent has a fondness for the character and fell in love with Breath of the Wild like the rest of us did. That is enough for me to decide Vincent is at least kinda a Legend of Zelda fan. And as a Zelda fan, this was just an excuse to be a Big Nerd. 1.2k words
"C'mon, c'mon, c'mon! I just need one more hit..." Vincent muttered under his breath. So focused on his game that he didn't realize I was standing in the archway behind him. He didn't hear me, smell me, see me—nothing. I smiled and watched Colgera fly around the screen while Link and Tulin furiously flew around in the swirling wind.
Biting my lip, I crept out of the archway and behind the couch. Vincent swore as he took a shot with his bow and it shattered. I smirked, leaned down until I was right behind his ear, and raised a hand.
I dropped it onto his shoulder. "Whatcha doin'?" I asked loudly.
Vincent swore and nearly threw his controller into the TV. Instead managing to only arc it over the coffee table. "Lovely!" he exclaimed. "Don't do that to me!" In a blur of movement, he had his controller back and the game paused. He spun to look at me. "What was that for?"
I laughed. "I'm sorry," I said around my laughter. "I couldn't help it. You were so focused you didn't—you didn't even notice I was right there. I had to see how close I could get!"
He sighed, giving me an affectionate—but exasperated—shake of his head with a little grin. "You're a menace," he said.
I shrugged. "Just for you, and just when we're alone. Because you love me."
"I do. I do love you." I leaned across the back of the couch and met his lips in a kiss. He reached and grabbed at my hips, hauling me over the back of the sofa while I shrieked as I flopped down onto the cushions. He cackled. "There we go. We're even now. And you get to sit with me and watch me play."
"Fine with me."
He kissed the top of my head and unpaused the game. Quickly equipping a new bow to try and shoot Colgera again.
"Rare for a Zelda boss' weak spot to not be their eye," I joked.
"Mmhmm," Vincent agreed, barely paying me any heed.
We sat in relative silence, broken only by Tulin's encouragement and the boss music and various sound effects like the cyclones and Vincent's controller clacking, for a few minutes.
"You're running out of cold resistance," I said.
He cursed under his breath and paused, searching his menus for another dish of food for cold resistance.
"Didn't you get a portable pot in one of the Zonai capsules?"
"They don't work in boss fights," he replied. Right as he found another meal he'd made to fight the cold and had Link eat it. He unpaused and went right back to it.
"Damn, this track slaps," I said quietly.
"It really does. I barely noticed it my first time playing through this game since I was so focused on the fight. Now, every time I restart, I always fight Colgera first. It's the best boss fight."
I smiled. "How many times have you played through Tears of the Kingdom in the last six months?"
Vincent shrugged. "Like five or six. But I don't search for all the Koroks every time. Just as many as I need to get all the spaces in my inventory. I still haven't found all of them on my main Switch profile's save. They added more. It was already a pain in the ass finding nine-hundred in Breath of the Wild. Now there's a thousand. They managed to shove a hundred more into almost the exact same map."
I smiled. "These are your favorite Zelda games, aren't they?"
He didn't even break his concentration from the boss fight. "Maybe. Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Ocarina of Time are pretty high on the list too." He moved around with his motion controls to aim his bow. "Twilight Princess is high on that list," he added. "I'd only been turned for six years when it came out and I was in the perfect moody, dark headspace to vibe hard with the game's aesthetic. Maybe the nostalgia helps keep it that high on my favorites. It's also just a good game to boot. And, if I may say, the most iconic appearance for Princess Zelda. She was barely in the game and yet when I hear the name 'Princess Zelda', I always think of her Twilight Princess look before even her Breath of the Wild one."
I smiled. Mmm... talk nerdy to me, you lovable dork, I thought fondly. "I never finished the Forest Temple in that game. Much to my best friend's chagrin. Twilight Princess was their favorite Zelda game while we were growing up."
Vincent shot me a quick look. "We'll fix that. I'll break out the Wii or the Wii-U and we'll get you through it."
"If we ever have time," I muttered sarcastically.
"Fair point. We'll find time. The fact that we don't really need to sleep as much has helped me get through this game multiple times."
I snickered and continued watching him.
The Rito Village/Dragon Roost Island theme hit and washed over our living room in a wave of nostalgia. Vincent sighed in rapture at it.
"This music is so good," I whispered.
"Uh-huh," he agreed. "Nintendo really went off with all the Tears of the Kingdom music. Remember that trailer's saxophone?"
"Mmhmm." I grinned. "Remember the first trailer to feature Ganondorf's voice and the entire internet blew up like 'Matthew Mercer'?"
Vincent started laughing. "That was hilarious. So many memes."
"Yeah. It was great." I gasped. "You're on your last shot, Vin!"
"I know. I'm so close."
"You know, if you did this with a Multi-Shot bow, you could do this a lot faster."
"Yeah, yeah. But I like doing this fight first. It's a challenge." He let go of the button on his controller. Link loosed the arrow.
It arced toward Colgera. Vincent and I both held our breath.
It struck, breaking the final bit of cracked ice.
"Yes!" Vincent cheered, pumping his fist into the air. I whooped and let him give me a kiss.
"Good job, lover boy," I said.
"Thanks, lovely." He gave me a soft look. "I forgive you for scaring me to death."
I burst out laughing. "Thanks. And you're welcome."
He kissed my hairline. "Were you wanting a turn on the Switch or were you just coming in to watch me play?"
"I was actually coming in to ask if you wanted a hot cocoa or something but I saw an opportunity that I couldn't pass up."
"Menace," he accused affectionately.
"Playboy," I retorted. He grinned.
"I would actually love a hot chocolate though," he added in a cheeky little whisper, curling his shoulders up and smiling like a mischievous kid.
I smiled. "I'll get some made for us. You're cute." Kissing his curly, glossy blue-black hair, I got up from the sofa and went toward the kitchen while the cutscene kept playing on the TV.

Soul Eater characters and their MLP Gen 4 equivalents
i will be disregarding all ships and familial relationships for this purely because it would make it WAY too complicated and this is my silly little haha. i already put too much thought into it, i cannot burden my mind with the restraint of familial and romantic relations.
first up, the main 7 characters. starting with the one who inspired this all:
Maka as Twilight Sparkle
Tumblr media
she's got the wings, she's got the book smart, she's got the power of friendship on her side, it's perfect. this was all started b/c while rewatching the anime, we joked that Maka's dubbed voice sounded like Twilight. this one is the strongest comparison, it gets worse from here.
Soul as Spike
Tumblr media
no offense to Soul, but he's usually secondary to Maka most of the time. snarky, sassy, and often asking questions. also, his name is Spike, Soul's got spiky hair, it makes sense.
Black☆Star as Rainbow Dash
Tumblr media
cocky, proud, super strong, fast, and blue!! a lot of their development revolves around like valuing other people (Black☆Star is more about like,,,, becoming his own person but y'know) also they both have scratchy voices.
Tsubaki as Fluttershy
Tumblr media
calm and mild mannered, but also on occasion has the ability to go apeshit. befriends someone who is quite strong and obnoxious that most characters find annoying.
Death the Kid as Rarity
Tumblr media
obsessive about appearances and has a particularly fancy way of talking. pale?? distinctive hair. makes sense.
Patty as Pinkie Pie
Tumblr media
no explanation necessary.
Liz as Apple Jack
Tumblr media
older sister figure! blonde and realistic, kinda tough and used to having to work for stuff (though Liz doesn't have to do it too much anymore now that she and patty are chilling w/ Kid) also, AJ was the only one left of the mane 6 lol.
Crona as Princess Luna
Tumblr media
obviously the moon connection, duh. dark aesthetic, doesn't understand other people, and gets kinda possessed by madness!! which leads into my next choice
Kishin Asura as Nightmare Moon
Tumblr media
evil!! but also because they were a bit misunderstood. spreads their powers across the entire world. possesses someone who is also part of them. lives on the moon.
Lord Death as Princess Celestia
Tumblr media
tall and a god figure, but also kind of royalty? super OP but also we barely get to see them fight or use their powers ever so that our lovely main characters can be the ones to defeat the big bad. questionable morals at times.
Stein as Discord
Tumblr media
crazy ass bitch!! tall and a slightly concerning amount of people simp for them. looks stitched together, stuff sticking out of their heads.
Marie as Princess Cadance
Tumblr media
Ox as Snips
Tumblr media
weird hair,,,,,,,,,,
Harvar as Snails
Tumblr media
tall?? Harvar's a spear so he's tall by default. he's also gold-ish when he's in weapon form so that counts, also pointy b/c unicorn and spear.
Jackie as Octavia
Tumblr media
Jackie has to be Octavia b/c her name is based off of cellist Jacqueline du Pré and even though Jackie doesn't play cello, this is who she must be to fulfill her destiny. also, they both have dark hair.
Kim as DJ Pon 3 (Vinyl Scratch)
Tumblr media
gay. unicorn, so she has magic like a witch
Kilik and the Pots as the Cutie Mark Crusaders
Tumblr media
there's three of them and they are inseparable. do not separate them. Kilik can be Sweetie Belle b/c he's standing in the middle.
Sid as Big Mac
Tumblr media
man of few words. super strong and ,,,,,,, angular?? idk they're both kinda blocky. sad eyes,,,,,,,, UNDERRATED.
Naigus as Zecora
Tumblr media
doctor!!! also if i was a pony, i would have a crush on Zecora. i have a crush on Naigus. this is my reasoning.
Medusa as Chrysalis
Tumblr media
evil. weird and confusing hair!! dark aesthetic with one accent color. insanely manipulative, undeniably slaying.
Arachne as The Storm King
Tumblr media
this one comes as a suggestion from Tumblr mutual (and my literal current college suite mate) @xaltiide she says that this guy is "the big bad" but isn't doing Most of the bad stuff in comparison to the other villains.
and finally, my grand finale
Giriko and Justin as Flim and Flam
Tumblr media
they suck!!!! they suck SO BAD!!!!!!!! and they're evil. HORRIBLE.
anyways, happy April fools everyone. i finished the last half of this post while an edible kicked in on a Friday night and i feel like that probably shows in what i have created, but i will stand by this.

Ganondorf/Ganon Designs Ranked Part 3 (BOTW Era)
Geurdo King Attire
Tumblr media
This design is a perfect accumulation of everything Ganondorf has been throughout the series, and my personal favorite. He’s more in touch with his heritage here, but the design itself is a mixture between OOT, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Demise’s design. Also the samurai aesthetic is a nice touch. 10/10
Demon King
Tumblr media
This design embodies what Demise was, but at its core it’s still pretty much Ganondorf. The horns, fire-like hair, yellow and black eyes, and gloom/malice robe that’s merged onto his skin all look demonic, but every other feature he has cement that it’s still Ganondorf underneath all of that. 10/10
Calamity Ganon (Spirit)
Tumblr media
While technically not a beast form for Ganon himself, Calamity Ganon was still Breath of The Wild’s Ganon. It definitely has a dragon feel to it, but it’s too obscured by shadows. 9/10
Calamity Ganon (AoC)
Tumblr media
I cannot believe I forgot this design because it’s indeed so cool. It resembles Ganondorf a lot, except it’s more corpse-like. However he’s too big for one, and for two… why is his design overcomplicated? Sorry, but this is another 7/10
Calamity Ganon (BOTW)
Tumblr media
I love this design. It abandons the pig motif in favor of the haunting visual of spider-like demon with Ganondorf’s features, highlighting that this WAS a man once upon a time. Still, because of it being so over complicated, it’s sadly a 9/10
Dark Beast Ganon
Tumblr media
This is literally bacon. 5/10
Mummydorf
Tumblr media
Now that we have slightly clearer images of Mummydorf, I gotta say that his design is so clean. He’s gaunt, scarred, his jewelry is broken, his robe is torn, and he looks like a legit corpse. Also those eyes are haunting. Alas it’s not the best of the 4 new designs TOTK gave Ganon. 9/10
Demon Dragon Ganon
Tumblr media
The pig has been abandoned in favor of a dank ass dragon. Instant 10/10

okay so feel free to delete this message for asking you about TP crimes. but I'm curious if you have any purely aesthetic thoughts about the Link + Zelda designs, as well as the Zora designs, in TP? like how do you feel about the designs on their own, even apart from your distaste for the general atmosphere + story. again feel free to ignore this for TP crimes and no harm done!
yeah ok. disclaimer for those who don't know. i don't like twilight princess and i think the art direction was almost as bad as the story. do not argue with me about this. let's get into it. link first
Tumblr media
from a purely character-design standpoint I don't think this design is bad, but I don't think it's all that special either. it's very evocative of oot link, which I'm SURE was intentional based off everything else in the game. it does a decent job of complicating the outfit to the standards of tp's setting without going too overboard in terms of little details. the long hat looks stupid but i understand what they were going for. my biggest critique of the design itself is the desaturated color scheme, which I understand was present in the game at large but. I don't like it. I honestly do think that taking away the vibrance and colorfulness of loz takes a lot of the fun out of it. these games were originally for the NES. we're working off of 8-color pixel graphics. link's tunic should be eye-searingly green no matter how dark and brooding you want his story to be, because without that brightness and vibrance the games cease to feel like loz imo.
anyway. the real PROBLEM with this design, and with most of the art direction in tp, lies in how it was actually handled in-game. twilight princess was a game for the wii & gamecube, released in 2006. while advancements in graphics were GETTING THERE, the models were still relatively low-poly. The franchise had already seen a lot of success working with low-poly models in oot and ww, specifically because they leaned into the limitations of low-poly graphics and went for a more cartoonish, unrendered art style which made the blocky models seem purposefully stylized instead of limiting. twilight princess, however, did a complete 180 with the art direction and decided to attempt to HIDE the low-poly graphics behind over-rendered textures. this combined with the desaturated color palette of the character designs makes everything look very flat and lifeless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in every close shot of link throughout this game i was constantly distracted by how awful the textures made the model look. the rendered folds of his tunic being slapped onto a flat surface, the rendering in his hair being an obvious coverup for the fact that it's one mass on the model with no physics, etc etc. the textures seldom rendered perfectly smoothly on the wii either, so the painted rendering would be strangely pixelated or blurry compared to the model's sharp edges. the game's lighting also seems to operate entirely in harsh black gradients, making the color and rendering choices on the model all the more obvious. Again, I understand that these are limitations of the medium the devs were working with, but i think that art direction that takes the medium into account and works WITH it instead of AGAINST it is almost always more successful than attempts to cover your ass after the fact, and i think that twilight princess could have been a more visually pleasing game if the art direction hadn't been so focused on covering the flatness of the models with hyper realistic textures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
onto zelda. again, we have a theme here of taking the oot design and overcomplicating it. i think the color choices are better here than they are with link, but i would have liked a brighter pink on her bodice. I also think that the dress's neckline was... pretty obviously a sexualization attempt. there's a reason men love this zelda. imo if they were going to keep oot zelda's shoulder armor they should also have kept the breastplate-ish piece in the middle and the high neckline from that dress. you cant say ooh look shes a swordfighter see she has armor!! and then leave her fucking jugular exposed. no wonder she got possessed by ganon immediately. other than my general complaints with the over-rendering i don't have much else to say about her tho. shes fine
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the zora tho... this is where i start to get pissed off. HOW ARE YOU GONNA DESIGN A SPECIES OF FISH PEOPLE BASED ON TROPICAL FUCKING FISH AND THEN REFUSE TO PUT A SINGLE SATURATED COLOR INTO ANY OF THEIR DESIGNS. the way these designs could all be improved by about a hundred percent if you just TURNED UP THE GODDAMN SATURATION. GIVE ME A REAL RED. IM BEGGING. UGGHHHHHHHHHH. i also think the ugly rendering REALLY shows through on these guys because they don't have a lot of detail on them to cover it all up. someone needs to explain to these designers that you don't shade with black. like. god. the designs truly are not bad in terms of like creature design i dont think but they are so DESPERATELY in need of color that it's fucking distracting. color is not your enemy guys please

I’m curious, what do you think about Zelda games and continuity in general? I know one point of contention with BOTW/TOTK is the “lack” of continuity which yeah, i get it. It could be better. However the Zelda series is not known for its continuity lol. Like, take OOT and MM for example. MM is supposed to be a sequel to OOT, right? Well, tbh it’s not a very good one. Besides the fact that Link is the same one from oot, and the happy mask salesman and skull kid return, it feels really disconnected from its predecessor. I think Twilight Princess fits more as a sequel to OOT than MM. I could go on and on but what are your thoughts?
Very good question! So yeah, I know that the Zelda games give 0 craps about consistent lore or continuity, which is fine! I think they put forward a lot of different and interesting ideas. As a fandom, and especially as writers, we can treat it like a buffet of ideas to sample and play around with.
You raise an interesting point with oot/mm. I think the difference between oot/mm is the fact that they have very little in common with each other. New map, new characters, a completely different concept. There's a lot of mechanics that are the same but it really feels like you're in a new universe with the same aesthetics as the previous one, and that's about it.
I think TOTK stands out to people because it is a direct sequel with only a few years between them in-universe, but there is very little story, lore, and setting continuity between botw and totk. If it were a whole new game with a new slate of characters and a new map, I don't think the discrepancies would feel as jarring. That being said, I really love totk as a game! It's fantastic and I've sunk at least 100 hours in.
However, botw remains my favourite game because: botw is a gesamkunstwerk. TOTK is not a gesamkunstwerk.
And now here's my very long tangent about this:
I'm sure I've seen a video talking about this idea before but basically, a gesamkunstwerk is a German term for "total work of art." Coined by the composer Richard Wagner (whom we do not like, but his ideas were very influential), a gesamkunstwerk is a large scale work where everything reinforces each other. It is "a work of art that makes use of all or many art forms, or strives to do so." So in opera, for example, this would be how the orchestra, the costumes, the text, the music, the set pieces, everything comes together to tell one unified story.
I believe botw is a good example of a gesamkunstwerk: the open world setting serves the narrative framework, the Sheikah technology is incorporated seamlessly into the game mechanics, the story is scattered throughout the world for you to discover, but everything is still centered around your final goal and the narrative arc you're meant to travel. You're meant to explore, meet people, hone your skills, then face off against the final foe that you've been staring in the face for the whole game. You're meant to discover the world, to do all these things, as the player and as Link. Everything in botw reinforces everything else. It's not a perfect game by any means but it is incredibly well crafted.
And while totk improves on all the things in BOTW, it loses the cohesiveness that tied the first game together. I find that totk fights itself in a lot of ways. It didn't commit to being a linear game but it clearly has a linear path in mind (hello dragons tears...I am so glad a friend of mine told me to do them in order) The integration of zonai and Sheikah mechanics made no sense to me. The sages... Good gravy the sages...
Anyways this turned into a much longer post than I intended, but I hope this all made sense.

Inside there are two wolves:
One wants the Zelda movie to be a Twilight Princess adaptation because the grimdark aesthetic would be really interesting and the story could make for a cool movie
The other is horrified on what they would do to Midna and does not want her character to be butchered, she’s strange and off putting (I love her so much, I love how weird she is don’t get me wrong) and would need to stay that way

Studio Ghibli has adapted a few famous books (Earthsea, Howl's Moving Castle, The Borrowers), but they change bits to enhance the whimsy and carry a specific emotional throughline... and Princess Mononoke and Nausicaä show the studio has a broad tonal range...
So, what if they did an adaptation of the Twilight series as a single film? Like, what scene as written has the biggest Ghibli vibes, what gets cut down to make the film more coherent, and how do they change the aesthetics of the supernatural to be more... Ghibli?
On Ghibli and Adaptations
"change bits"
That's a bold statement.
I haven't read Earthsea, but both Howl's Moving Castle and The Borrowers are extremely loose adaptations of their source material.
Howl's Moving Castle, as an example, completely changes the main character personalities (Sophie and Howl are very toned down/more palatable), drops an entire subplot involving Sophie's sisters, adds in an entire war/a major theme of environmentalism, ages down one of the characters significantly, and basically only shares the castle with the original book.
(I say this loving the film and actually preferring it to the book, but it needs to be said)
Borrowers... has Brorrowers, and that's about as far as that goes as well.
Twilight as Adapted by Ghibli
Depends on which Ghibli director we're going for, obviously, but we'll just stick with Miyazaki as I'm most familiar with his work.
We're looking at a film that has the name Twilight but has characters with the same names and that's about it.
There's a lot more meadow and nature scenes, Edward probably actually lives in the woods, environmentalism becomes a major theme of the film as vampires like Edward bemoan what humans have done to the world and how soon this beautiful landscape will be gone.
The vampires themselves are likely far more inhuman, they have the features of people, but move completely differently and look markedly different from humans. I imagine they act very different as well, more like spirits, which means Edward sure as hell isn't going to high school.
There's a climactic adventurous confrontation as something happens with Bella. She gets kidnapped by the Volturi, ends up trapped in the vampire part of the forest, and very likely conflict between humans and vampires.
The wolves likely play a more neutural third party to all of this and it's clear that no one's really "the bad guy" in this. Instead, all parties have their own reasons for doing things that make them all, in their own way, short sighted in a way only Bella can see as an outsider.
Meyer is probably mildly flummoxed/upset as it's existence as it's cool her work is an anime film but it's very clearly not her story. At all. And it's not her Bella and Edward (we're talking about a woman who felt strongly enough to give us Midnight Sun because the fans were getting Edward wrong).
But a Scene?
They probably keep the meadow but--
That would honestly be it.
I'm not joking, it'd be completely different.

Springtime or Autumn
Some interests and things you like:
I’ve always been super into mythology, all of them. I used to think that Carl Jung was onto something with the collective unconscious but then Anthropology and the reality of multilineal evolution ruined that for me (college will teach you things); but that’s alright because humans their ability to create and interpret their surroundings with equal parts love and fear is still pretty cool.
Some funfacts & trivia about you:
-Agnostic but i work in an occult library (it’s pretty quiet; the new age bookshop across the street has all the events)
-One time on Gaia Online I was kicked out of an Okami RP bc I didn’t make my posts aesthetic enough, and I thought it was just the most heart wrenching thing -I’m not sure what people stand to gain back in Ye Old Runescape luring new players out into the wild and PKing them but I was gullible enough to follow some other players at like 7 yrs old and this would have happened to me if i wasnt SUPER good at clicking my mouse and running out of there. Surviving such a harrowing experience made me think i was truly invincible.
-I was supposed to write my final paper for my Japanese Buddhism class on… surprise, Japanese Buddhism but I really wanted to talk about Kenji Miyazawa’s writings instead so I spun it through a lens of his Nichiren conversion and its impact on his poetry. My prof saw right through me but I still got an A.
What non-Fire Emblem games do you play?
Tales of RPG series raised me as a person so u know. I like Persona 1-2 era SMT though I’ve played Nocturne and IV as well. What else? Okami, LOZ: Twilight Princess, farm sims and visual novels. Genshin, on and off.

How did you get into Fire Emblem?
My neighbor would bring over Path of Radiance so I could play it on my gamecube with my own save back in the day
What Fire Emblem games have you played?
Tellius duology. Sacred Stones, FE 13-16; currently doing Blazing Blade. Archanea one day.
First Fire Emblem game:
POR
Favorite Fire Emblem game:
Tie between 3 Houses and Radiant Dawn
Any Fire Emblem crushes? 😳
It’s rhea okay. I wont lie and i wont pretend it isnt evidence of my spectacular taste either
If you’ve played the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? - Awakening: Tiki (first S support was olivia bc i wanted a pink haired kid)  - Fates: honestly i’d have to revisit, i know i first married niles as m!corrin - Three Houses: I married each lord on their route tho it’s much funnier if you dont i think (First route was Crimson Flower but I saved at the split so I could marry Rhea first lmao) - Engage: Saphir 🥰
Favorite Fire Emblem class:
War Cleric or Qi Adept
If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class?
I’d be the mage you have to drag around and treat with baby gloves only to learn like a single good spell I think
If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation?
Leicester Alliance tbh
If you were an Engage character, which Emblem would you Engage with?
Based purely on mechanics bc i love them all prob Soren dlc, Sigurd, Celica, and Lyn.
How did you find TOA?
End of 2020/beginning of 2021 I was really trying to get back into rp but couldn’t get into the various systems on discord. One community that I was trying was affiliates with The Officer’s Academy and an active tumblr community rly caught my interest. The rest is history!
Current TOA muses:
Rhea 3H, Micaiah Radiant Dawn, and miss Hortensia engage
Who was your first TOA muse? If you don’t have them anymore, could you see yourself picking them up again?
This blog right here! I put her down for a bit and probably will again but. It’s not like she ever leaves, instead of brain there is Rhea u see (i bear this burden so u do not have to)
Have you had any other TOA muses?
I played Sephiran for a hot sec and Ingrid for around a yearish iirc. Both very fun
Do you think you have a type of character you gravitate towards?
Not really? I need to be able to connect with them on some level obviously, and I tend to prefer characters who have like a clear childhood or background for why they are That Way. Micaiah was actually p difficult for this reason but being able to really shape her based on what little we know also made me ever more fond. ♥️ I love to stare at pegasusknight and serenesforest supports pages late at night tehe
What do you believe you enjoy writing the most?
I don’t particularly plan ahead but I really love when threads reflect past character development whether in a thread with the same muse or different. TOA extended universe… I’d like to do that more I think but first I have to actually make a support page huh? Since Rhea’s back she’s made more bonds though and that makes me happy.
Favorite TOA-related memory: Definitely Unlocked 2021! It was my first event after really starting to warm to the TOA community and i was an awe of the scope of the events. The mods thought this far ahead?! We can do this?! Every event since has just been even more fun but the surprise and intrigue i felt then really stayed with him
*How do you pronounce TOA?
Toe-uh. Like Dee-En-Dee. you know.
Got any delusions that didn’t see the light of day that you’d like to share? 😉
I think I mentioned I muse Hubert before, and also that I can't really seeing myself maintaining a blog for him? So other than that, no. I do think Nimh could be quite a bit of fun though *laughs*

//I DID THE THING FINALLY!! 😭😭😭The years on first one indicate when they first inspired me/influenced how I wrote/saw Sa!! Hence them being absent on the latter
Elaborations/details below the cut!!!
Element Valkyrie: (Kit) Literally how/why Sa has her main gimmick of fire + water/ice lmao!! In fact I think fire was her original main...? Ice became a focus post-atla (all of like... a year later lmfao)
Link (Twilight Princess): (Aesth) What can I say I really loved TPs, well, 'edgier' aesth (my second zelda after all of wind waker). Also, probably the first wolf association...? Less consciously, perhaps the first taste of cryptid drifter that goes around solving problems? (Kit) Why Sasume has a sword!! And why it's at her back/shoulder!! Also, sort of, ass kicking with said sword, but as a video game YMMV lmao. (Chara) The silent protag stuff could not hurt? Esp w the contrast with being good w kids, implicitly (Heart) WHAT CAN I SAY I'VE SAID IT BEFORE Sa is very much HeroTM, in broader loz/link sense, at heart. Saving and helping people is her priority!! Even when it's hard!!
Naruto: (Kit) Tbh... the source of Shinrei's aesthetic effects wrt eyes, teeth, claws, etc? (Bg/Lore) Samehat with her bg. With an emphasis on samehat, as the two were connected 1:1 in those early days. But unlike canon Naruto even baby Nori went 'reality ensues' 'edgier' variant where shit is traumatizing as fuck. (Heart) As I've also Also stated elsewhere... she's very much a shonen protagonist at heart??? A Knight in Sour Armor but a Knight all the same
Sasuke: (Aesth) Do I even need to say it...? The grumpy/angsty edgelord Lancer surface level absolutely came from here, lmao. Not as conscious as Naruto (iirc, I gave her blue hair bc my brown marker ran out when doing that design? lmfao) but definitely couldn't hurt. (Bg/Lore) Probably colored/inspired taking the aforementioned 'reality ensues' traumatic framing for Sa's bg. And a bunch of other plot-y stuff that's sliding scale of preserved to scraped entirely (ie being Nth distant relative survivors to the Uchiha clan lmfao). (Chara) What can I say... aren't we all familiar w the broadstrokes atp?? Loner angsting edgelord who's just afraid of letting people in... A staple of the archetype, and undoubtedly helped staple that archetype onto Sa. (Other) Far more nebulous, but did inspire a general 'special heritage/family line' power stuff. Though what said family line stuff was wouldn't be figured out 'til further down the line.
Kanda: (Aesth) For a hot second I literally intentionally looked to Kanda for aesth inspiration for Sa lmao... in my NLOG phase I even did an inverse of him being confused for a woman by having Sa be more Bifauxnen bc 'feminine = weak' lol (gag). Also, while from DGM's uniform as a whole rather than Kanda specifically, codified Sa's token look of skintight slevelees turtleneck + fingerless gloves— as well as remove previous aspects of color from her wardrobe. (Kit) Again, a side effect of DGM as a whole rather than Kanda specifically, but this is why Shinrei's kit isn't just so thought out but so specifically staggered (the 'Levels/Stages' aspects present across many Innocence). As a direct inspo, though, Mugen fucking with his pupils/eye is what I used to preserve Sa's emotive angy vfx (and what made it, and her entire kit, 1:1 with her sword rather than being innate). (Chara) Do I need to elaborate...? Lol. He also fits into the archetype of Sasuke that Sa was already in, so nothing too big, particularly as DGM made me develop Sa so much more and breakaway from copypasting him. However, he's liably the source of her more overt tsundere tendencies, as well as her aversion to using people's names (also for tsun reasons). Also probably why Sa's surface level is outright Jerkass and not just ominous stoic dude deal lmao.
Dean Winchester (s1-5): (Aesth) Gets some lite points for styling themselves against/for a parent, jerkass with a reckless heart of gold, and bravado/masculinity that oft loops back around to disingenuous/insecure. (Bg/Lore) What can I say? The idolization of a lost mother, comparing oneself against a parent (derogatory), the deadbeat dad (who's like the younger sibling), and the parentification and resulting over-protection and -devotedness toward their younger sibling/'child'. However, not much direct inspo here, especially since one of his hallmarks is his dysfunctional jackassery toward his sibling and one of Sa's is that her jackass exterior breaks away for hers. (Chara) While I remember Sasume's snark being unintentional irp, passive Deanfluence def couldn't hurt to cement the snark, lmfao. (Heart/Other) Lumping these two together bc man!! Man!!! What if you were forced into a life of violence and endangerment and self loathing and you 'reclaimed' it by putting how much you hate it and life and yourself into something meaningful, heroic. What if you were meant for greatness and it destroyed you. What if you wanted nothing more than a life of domesticity as a partner and parent and thought your only way to get there was through dreams and death. What if the only way you can get through the day is by chasing thrills and throwing yourself into risk after risk for others and half-hoping it kills you.
GRAVEYARD/REVERSE INSPO BOOGALOOS!!
As these are blorbos you can use to 'find Sasume in' instead of vice versa, these'll hopefully be more brief...? Things to make you point at and go 'omg just like Sa :)', rather than unpacking the building blocks of inspiration that helped codify her into how she is.
Geralt: (Aesth) The wandering enigmatic monster hunter with an extremely dangerous rep but with more heart/morals than you'd think... yk? Bonus spn gold eye points. (Kit) Nothing overt, but general hyper-competence wrt combat. (Bg) Witchers' sliding scale of dubious rep, yk? As well as his Butcher legacy. (Chara) As stated, gruff bastards with a caring heart that's variably concealed, depending on the moment. Notably (vs some prev examples), very okay with killing human monsters, even if it's not ideal.
Alucard: (Aesth) Pwincesses The supernatural & enigmatic auras that are both intimidating and inspiring reliance/protection yk? (Kit) Again general combat competence, but also healing factor and resulting being a gd tank, relatively. (Heart) Hearts of gold!! More overt since he's not a tsun though lol
Mizu: (Aesth) Edgelord wandering blue eyed 'samurai', lol. (Kit) Violence hypercompetence, pragmatism, and being a disturbing levels of tanking severe wounds. (Bg) What can I say Mizu's entire traumatic backstory and hardening into who she is is because of being othered and seen as nonhuman (if due to racism, vs Sa's). Plus some spoilery stuff I'm not gonna say bc oh my god guys go watch BES :') Esp if you like Sa. (Chara) The terrifying determinism, raw brutality/pragmatism, being stubborn idiots who need to be forced into accepting help... but also going to extreme lengths once the loner walls are breached. Also, the sass and taunting and blood knight aspects??? Peak Sa. Chef kiss. (Other) Holy fucking SHIT the insecurities? And self perception?? Seeing oneself as monstrous and inhuman and that inhumanity linked with an 'inability/failures of' being a woman yk......... augh,
Ed: (Kit) Having fun with 'bending' elements in utilitarian ways. (Bg) Orphaned big siblings whose main priority is saving/helping baby sib yk... Also, in retrospect, the hypercompetence being developed for the sake of said sib. (Heart) Again!! Shonen protagonist at her core!! Though ofc focusing more on the unironic softness, as well as her 'aspiring' for pacifism and hating having to kill but having no qualms doing so when necessary.
Rengoku: (Kit) Badass swordsmen with fire related aesth? Badass swordsmen. (Bg) While far more... mundane in the tragedies of his upbringing, the overlap in the themes and impact of their traumas are :') very much similar :'))) (Heart) Shonen protags but also mentors!! Staring very loudly at and ignoring even harder how as a kid my intent for Sa's story would be to kill her off. Tbf she's a very solid candidate for the Obi-Wan type 'crutch' characters whose death symbolisms an emblematic turning point...........
Vash: (Kit) Again: See: Hypercompetence in combat, now with more overt inhuman uncanniness!! (Bg) While far more fantastical and sort of... spread out? Impersonal? Than Sa's, it's impact and his view on it are very Sacore!! (Heart) SHONEN PROTAG OF ALL TIME??? And also see: aspirations of pacifism and how, just like Vash is able to be so extremely pacifistic because he's nonhuman levels of sturdy... Sasume cannot be because she's still very much human, and so can only take so much before she's forced to retaliate :') (And also being long past the point of breaking pacifism for sake of necessity/saving others... and p much Only breaking it to protect others... yk.......)

Secret garden
---
Pairing: Obi wan x reader
Content: Exchanging anotated romance books in a hidden garden is bound to complicate things.
Warnings: none
Word count: 1200
---
The crowd feels overwhelming as it moves around you like tumultuous waves. You don’t frequent these parts, you never liked the Jedi and yet here you were. Searching the crowd, fishing for the one to take the bait and even before you could react to it, a soft pressure on your elbow, something gets placed in your hand and with it vanishes, the trace of his presence. You turn to see bodies engulfed in brown robes, you pull up your hand to see a small bit of crumpled paper, in it a message.
Wing b, half past sunset.
Sunset was now, which meant you barely had time to be here. You pick up the pace and try your best not to look out of place. The sky turned purple, twilight stars beginning to emerge in the sky, wing b sat alone and dilapidated. With every passing minute, drops of anxiety mixed into your blood keeping you on your toes. Scared someone was going to find out but the sweetness of being with him even for a few minutes was a prize you were willing to risk it all for.
His voice wrapped around your mind telling you to walk past the broken garden gate so like a bee drawn to honey, you followed it. Measured footsteps like a hunter in the forest, you searched for him amidst the overgrown vines, trees and shrubs. Raw chaotic nature had overturned this once maintained garden. But in it’s unpredictable nature, it’s raw beauty certainly felt like the perfect place, an ode to this relationship. A figure was seated by the old fountain, the crunch of a leaf beneath your foot, he looked up slowly like a forest nymph that had shifted back into his human form. The blue of his eyes locked with yours and you knew you were a gazelle playing with fire. He dipped his hand into the crystal clear water, looking away as a smile spread across his forehead, golden strands hiding half his face away from you.
You never liked the Jedi, except this one. “So what have you brought for me?”, he asked as you sat next to him. “You first.”, you fold your arms and he pulls away his robe to reveal a book. The cover featuring a sturdy man holding a woman in armour, it’s aesthetic hinting at a romance. “The king’s guard and the princess.”, he gives it to you. Opening the book leads you to discover his handwriting scattered throughout it, certain sentencesunderlined, some words circled. His eyes bore into yours, an intensity he so easily hid amongst under Jedi but here with you, it was blue lava.
You fished out the book you had selected for him, one filled with poems of a person who was witnessing love for the first time. “Don’t let it get to your head.”, you chide him as he smirks holding the book. “Jedi aren’t supposed to have first loves.”, he says softly. You noticed the blush in his cheeks when he hid the book beneath his robe. Your first love was never supposed to be a man who you should hate. “There, I’ll meet you next week.”, you got up before your feelings could sediment. It's not real if none of you admit it. “Wait.”, he calls for you. “I don’t have to be back so soon.”, he mentions. You stand at the fringe of the pavement, he was asking you to stay. Spending any longer with him would mean he might come to know, his force signature would pick up on your thoughts if they got too intense.
“I can’t Obi wan.”, you tell him pulling down on your hood. He nodded in response. “Can’t or won’t?”, he asked folding his arms, taking measured steps toward you. You were supposed to be in control of this situation. This book club was created by you, now this crush was getting out of hand. “Obi wan.”, you say softly and he’s shakes his head. “Don’t deny it, tell me what I’m feeling is true. Tell me you feel it too.”, he pleads quietly, his eyes displaying the hidden anguish he was in.
“You and I cannot live off stolen moments like these.”, you state your reason, an escape, you did not want to be the one to break his heart. “Princess.”, he shifts and then says your name, with the way he said it you knew he was the only one who could make you feel this way. Like you would abandon the world if he asked. “Just tell me the truth.”, he looked away. “That is enough for me.”, you were trying to push him away while he was trying everything possible to draw closer. A twig snaps behind you and your heart leaps, so you grab a hold of his hand and walk into a hidden enclave. “Why do you want the truth when you know it will hurt you?”, you held his hand tighter. Could he not see that it was tearing you apart?
“You could never hurt me.”, he responds and your knees wanted to make way to meet the floor. “Obi wan, you – he stops you, placing his hand on your cheek, his thumb stroking your cheekbone. “The truth.”, he commanded softly and you huffed. You attempt to look away but he tilts your chin so you meet his gaze again. “I need to know.”, he whispers while you admired the details of his face. The faint hazel of his lashes as it caught the light, the rosiness of his lips and the crisp complexion from having been out in the cold. “I cannot think of anything else but you.”, you admit and his eyes widen, the gap separating you began to get closer as your back hit the wall. “I orchestrated the book club so we can meet often and I can dedicate poems to you. It's selfish, I know.”, he doesn’t let you look away or escape his grasp. “I can live with stolen moments.”, he admits. “if it means I’m waiting for you by the arched fountain.”, you feel his palm on the side of your waist and in the secrecy there was a false sense of security, one you wanted to make use of ambitiously. He leans closer and you don’t stop him, taking it as a sign he wraps you in his arms. “You can be in the same room as I am in and still remain honorable to your duty?”, you ask enveloped in his embrace she you feel his soft lips place a feather light kiss on your shoulder. “Yes. I am of service to the future queen.”, he kisses your neck. “Obi wan.”, you whisper his name but he shushes you. “Don’t deny me a first love.”, he pushes away a strand of your hair. His soft love, slow and steady caused you to settled in his arms. You knew he was right, you couldn’t fight this anymore.
“Only if you agree to be mine.”, you say shyly and watch as an energy bolt shot through him. He doesn’t say anything else, doesn’t complicate it, just tilts his heads and closes the gap. His lips fit yours and in the secret garden of exchanged words and poems, love bloomed like yet another irresistible wildflower.

Finally, FINALLY finished OoT Sheik redesign page!!!!! This took, for some reason, five months to complete, because somehow very little inspiration was sparking in my mind for his outfits. It was easy to put off because his face was easy and even though I.... do NOT like his game outfit, thanks to smash bros it was easy to substitute in the alternate version in my mind. But I finally got around to actually doing the full redesign!
Further notes under the cut:
I actually hadn’t initially planned on changing Sheik’s main outfit, the blue stealth garb, as much as I did, particularly in the case of getting rid of the head bandages since those were pretty much the only part of the design I didn’t dislike. But I found a particular reference image while looking for actual historical ninja garb for inspiration and I really liked how the hood and fabric almost-armour looked, so I incorporated it! Now this gives him the opportunity to dramatically pull his hood up and down at key moments, making him become either more or less mysterious depending on how mysterious and angsty he wants to be.
The Sheikah Eye is semi-concealed under the top layer of his garb. The Sheikah have been submerged in the shadows for a long time, reclusive and secretive for their own safety-- these days, most common people in Hyrule don’t even know they exist. However, they are starting to become more visible again, and Sheik actually plays a big part in that.
Sheik has been travelling Hyrule for some time, now, and has not been home in years, unable to return to Kakariko village until his own quest is complete. He’s had some rough tumbles of his own, and at some point lost one of his vambraces, hence the layer of bandages on one arm. He hasn’t had the chance to replace it properly, yet.
Instead of the regular stripes, I borrowed the swirling patterns from the ancient Sheikah tech of botw, like I did with Impa as well. I feel like this does a good job of tying the aesthetics of the different games together and maintain common visual elements, while still keeping an ancient feel to it and signalling that this garb is from a different, distinct era.
The base suit is meant to be quite tight-fitting, but it’s gotten kind of loose because Sheik is too on-the-go to feed himself properly smh. Bulk up Sheik!!!
The second outfit is as casual as Sheik gets. This is what he would wear just hanging out in Kakariko village. It looks plain, but the beads show that he is a fully-fledged warrior monk. He has the Eye tattooed on himself as is traditional for sheikah monks, though at this point in history it is tattooed on the back, not the forehead like in both earlier and later eras, further representing the hidden-ness of the Sheikah.
This look is largely based off the clothing of Impaz from twilight princess, who is heavily implied to be Sheikah. Impa’s outfits also share many of these same elements.
Personally I’m really happy with these final products. Would love to hear feedback and see what you guys think, as well!

INTERVIEW WITH A WRITEBLR — @cavaleriesix
Who You Are:
James || He/him
I'm James, a 20-year-old writer, artist, a university student, and a warehouse associate. I write primarily contemporary/historical fiction with some fantastical elements. My current WIP, which I have been working on on-and-off since I was 9 years old, is called On Soldiers & Suns.
What You Write:
What genres do you write in? What age ranges do you write for?
Contemporary, fantasy, historical fiction, and poetry. New adult.
What genre would you write in for the rest of your life, if you could? What about that genre appeals to you?
Historical fantasy, probably. I love learning about different cultures and creating different supernatural systems; I love taking elements of history and incorporating them into a magical world of my creation.
What genre/s will you not write unless you HAVE to? What about that genre turns you off?
Sci-Fi. A futuristic aesthetic absolutely does not appeal to me.
Who is your target audience? Do you think anyone outside of that would get anything out of your works?
I don't really have a target audience, since I've received feedback on my work from friends I've made on Tumblr (around my age), a friend I know in real life (early 40s), and my dad (early 50s). I think my target audience is probably myself; I haven't received consistently positive feedback from any audience I've worked with. It's been spotty. But I think anyone can get something out of my work if they can look past the presentation.
What kind of themes do you tend to focus on? What kinds of tropes? What about them appeals to you?
Betrayal, faith, trust, brotherhood, fatherhood, birth, rebirth, corruption, regret, identity… I'm sure there are more. I still haven't quite figured out what a trope is, but one I've heard thrown around that I'm drawn to is the Found Family trope. They appeal to me because my writing, at its core, is a reflection of myself, a way for me to explore what hurt me, what I long for, and what I never got to have.
What themes or tropes can you not stand? What about them turn you off?
None come to mind. I'm not an especial fan of enemies-to-lovers, since a lot of the time I feel it's executed poorly and excuses the past transgressions of one or both parties toward the other.
What are you currently working on? How long have you been working on it?
I'm currently working on my main WIP, On Soldiers & Suns. I've been working on it on-and-off since I was 9 years old, but this iteration has been in the works for 5 years.
Why do you write? What keeps you writing?
I write because I feel I owe it to my characters and the world I've created, for everything those characters and that world has done for me. I keep writing because I want to share my characters and world with others and explore what hurt me and put it into words that maybe someone else can relate to. It's also a funny bit when I do it consistently.
How long have you been writing? What do you think first drew you to it?
I've been writing since I was little - maybe 6 or 7? I read a lot as a kid, and since I was a pretty lonely kid, I had a lot of time to think and create characters and my own world to escape to. I don't know why I started putting my thoughts into words. I guess I was inspired by the books I read.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Is that how you got your inspiration for your current project? If not, where did the inspiration come from?
I get my inspiration from a lot of things. Mostly the world around me and what I've been through, but anime, video games, and literature are inspirations of mine, too. I got my inspiration for On Soldiers & Suns originally from Super Smash Bros. and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but things have definitely changed in the last 11 years (lol). I started writing this iteration of my WIP after I reread the Inkheart trilogy when I was 15.
What works of yours are you most proud of? Why?
I'm incredibly proud of the third book of On Soldiers & Suns, "Acacia." I have always loved it dearly for its complex plot and expansive cast of characters, the beautiful settings and the way I worded it, but it's also 900 pages single-spaced, 11-pt font, which is pretty impressive if I do say so myself.
Have you published anything? Do you want to?
Not yet. I would like to publish my work someday.
What part of the publishing process most appeals to you? What part least appeals to you? Why?
I just want to share my story with the world, but I really, really don't want to go through the pitching and editing process. It will be long. And tedious. My work is a hard sell.
What part of the writing process most appeals to you? What part is least appealing?
I don't know how to answer this, honestly. I like to write because I like to read my writing, because I like to see my world come to life, because I like to see people's reactions and hear their thoughts when they read my work for themselves. I hate when I don't have the motivation to write. It feels like I've lost my purpose in life. The past 6 months of writer's block have definitely taken their toll on me.
Do you have a writing process? Do you have an ideal setup? Do you write in pure chaos? Talk about your process a bit.
I honestly write whenever the mood strikes or whenever I feel guilty enough to try and come with a word or two to contribute to my poor document. My ideal setup is early in the morning, listening to the same song on endless repeat, with a cup of coffee and no other distractions, but that's not usually the case. I used to write before work (from 06:45-08:15 AM), but due to my writer's block and fatigue that's become nigh-impossible. I usually write from a vague, handwritten outline of events or from the previous draft (if I'm doing a rewrite), and I usually write using OpenOffice (although sometimes I'll write by hand).
Your Thoughts on Writeblr:
How long have you been a writeblr? What inspired you to join the community?
I've been a writeblr for around 4 years, since late 2018. I was inspired to join the community so that I could share my writing and my characters and hopefully be inspired and motivated by an uplifting community of people with the same passion as myself for their work.
Shout out some of your favorite writeblrs. How did you find them and what made you want to follow them?
Oh, man, there's so many. @goose-books, @werewolfsbutch, @vulturetime, @howdywrites, @sleepyowlwrites, @albatris, @nicola-writes, @ashen-crest, @mrs-mikko-rantanen, and a few others have always been incredibly kind and supportive of me and my work. Waya was actually one of the first people I followed on writeblr, if memory serves me correctly, who's still active, and I absolutely love his work and his characters (Benji!). I don't remember why or when I followed everyone else, but I love their thoughts, their kindness, their compassion, and their work. I really enjoy seeing them on my dash; they've really enriched my life.
What is your favorite part about writeblr?
The kind and uplifting atmosphere.
What do you think writeblr could improve on? How do you think we can go about doing so?
A lot, lol. The writeblr community has changed so, so much since 2018, and a lot of that has been negative in my eyes (or maybe I'm just nostalgic for an easier time. I don't know). The community has kind of started picking up again with the resurgence of Storyteller Saturday and Worldbuilding Wednesday, but a lot of the people I knew when I joined are inactive, deactivated, or rarely around anymore. My dash is almost devoid of actual writeblr content, and it makes me really sad because it makes it more difficult for me to interact with the community as consistently as I'd like to. I don't know how to fix this. It's probably a problem on my end.
How do you contribute to the writeblr community? Do you think you could be doing more?
Honestly? Not at all, lol. I could absolutely be doing more. I'm one of the writeblrs that has gone pretty much inactive when it comes to writing (and even art, more recently). Life has gotten really difficult for me, and I'm struggling to contribute like I used to. I try to boost posts and interact where I can, especially with art and shorter snippets, but I don't see writeblr content often, and when I do, I usually don't have the energy to interact in any meaningful way, and I don't like reblogging people's work without at least a brief reaction.
What kinds of posts do you most like to interact with?
Fun OC facts, OC art/picrews, short snippets, tag games.
What kind of posts do you most like to make?
OC art, tag games.
Finally, anywhere else online we may be able to find you?
Not for writing.
Questions For Fun:
Do you have a favorite era of history you like to reference/write about/draw inspo from? Why do you think it's your favorite?
1920s! I really loved The Great Gatsby in my freshman year of high school and was (and still sort of am) OBSESSED with Baccano!. I'm always looking for new wips set in that time period (Prohibition, bootlegging, etc., you know the vibes)! I'm also a pretty big fan of late 1800s aesthetics and military aesthetics pre-1900. A lot of my main WIP revolves around soldiers.
Favorite character from Twilight Princess? Have you ever made a character, intentional or otherwise, based on them? If not, do you want to?
My favourite character from Twilight Princess is so, so basic. It's wolf Link, lol. The original version of Cav, Redstone, was partly inspired by the Twilight Princess aesthetic and vibe. You can see some Twilight Princess inspiration in the way the demons and gods in my story look and in the way I designed my OC Switzerland Siegal.
Who is your Smash Bros main? Does it change from game to game?
I don't actually play Smash Bros.! I've never played it consistently, but I haven't enjoyed it since Brawl when I was a kid. When I was a kid I always chose Bowser because his design in Brawl was really cool, lol.

Hi!
1, 4, 14 and, 18 for the LOZ ask game :)
What’s your favorite kind of soup?
There's this pho that I get when ordering out sometimes that's very good, although I can't remember which one exactly I usually get. Otherwise tomato. Can't go wrong with tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.
4. Do you enjoy riddles and puzzles?
Yeah I love puzzles! Puzzles more so than riddles, but both are good.
14. Which LoZ/LU character/creature do you hope to see more of in the LU comic?
I'd really like to see more of the Zeldas. I hope the next time the Chain switches eras we meet a Zelda in comic. (I would guess Sun since we have character art of her). I think it would be neat to see some of the other races. Not necessarily specific characters or from a specific time (although that would be good too), but something like: They happen to find themselves on Death Mountain while tracking Dink and come across a Goron village from a different time. That sort of thing. I'd also like to see some of the minor spirits or deities from the games! Think the Light Spirits from Twilight Princess or the frog wind gods from Wind Waker.
18. Which LoZ dungeon is your favorite?
I'm too indecisive to pick all these favourites. Uhh ... I like the Sandship and the Lanayru Mining Facility from Skyward Sword. Changing time back and forth to interact with the area in different way is lots of fun. The Forest Temple from Oot is aesthetically perfect. I also like the Snowpeak Ruins from Twilight Princess. It feels very unique, the yeti couple is cute, and you get to make some good soup.

Alright so playing thru tears of the kingdom and some general thoughts so far (no spoilers just extremely general observations)
Really enjoying how TotK seems to be pulling more general themes and aesthetics from different past titles than BotW did. We all have seen link do the swan dive shit in trailers but there are other core mechanisms that feel extremely reminiscent of SkySword.
Aesthetic choice wise, there's some symbols yeah but as far as visuals, Twilight Princess all the way. Like I'm vibrating in my seat this makes me so excited. In general, TotK also feels darker in the same sense that TP did, which even before TP we only really hand that in MM and that's sort of its own case. I'm glad to see nintendy going a bit harder with this one cuz as much as I love games like WW, I also love the darker more intense games as well.
SS was also a bit more. Real? Than most Zelda titles. It was less "protagonist saves damsel yeehaw" and more "watch this kid get traumatized and then do it AGAIN" (tbf WW did that too but I digress)
Anyway, enjoying it greatly thus far but just like BotW its a long haul game so progression is slow so long as my stamina wheel is stuck at minimum size
