[Fluff + Slight Angst] [Zayne x Reader] A Cure.
Tumblr media
CONTENT
Zayne has trouble sleeping after overtime and you’re the only thing that helps ): Gender neutral reader, established relationship, kisses, hugs, slight angst, mention of previous patient deaths, mentions of guilt, mentions of nightmares + insomnia, mostly fluff, taking care of sleep deprived boyfriend, CHARACTERS ARE 18+
AUTHOR NOTES
I finished reading his anecdotes and I’m in shambles. Hubby is traumatized. One of his affinity level up quotes is “you are the only treatment for my nightmares” and I didn’t even know he had nightmares until I read the anecdotes and now I’m just in pain. I will probably also write about the parallel version of him, his dawnbreaker self, because he deserves some love too, his world sounds much more desolate than ours ):
Word Count: 1106
Zayne has always had trouble sleeping or even wanting to entertain the idea of going to sleep. His nightmares have plagued him for so many years now and it’s become his norm. His only relief from it has been you.
Some of the staff that work closely with Zayne have been acquainted with you and they’ve come to understand that if they want the cardiac surgeon to sleep, you’re the key. You love his co-workers because they really do care about each other and you’re so grateful they make sure Zayne rests well. You always make sure to bring them some snacks or coffee when you come to the hospital.
A recent wanderer attack at the outskirts of the city has left the emergency unit overflowing for the past 2 days. You’ve been helping where you can to defeat wanderers and the combat side of things has calmed down. But the hospital is still working overtime. AKA Zayne is working overtime.
He’s been up for 2 days straight due to back to back emergency surgeries that he insists he helps on. The staff will allow him to push himself but they know when to cut him off. They asked if you’d be available today to pop by and you mentioned that you’re already on your way after finishing your last area sweep and clearing the place for wanderers.
When you walk in, you set some coffees onto the clerk’s desk and quickly walk over to Zayne’s office. You slowly knock quietly and open the door cautiously so as not to spook the sleep deprived man. Zayne never shows when he’s nervous, he doesn’t get jittery because he’s literally a surgeon and can’t afford to. But, you can tell when he’s exhausted and anxious, and he is exactly that right now. You walk over to him and he hugs you from where he’s sitting at his desk, swiveling his chair to face you as you stand between his legs. You stroke your hands through his hair and rub his back, letting him enjoy the peace. “All successful?” You ask. He nods with his face buried in your chest. You’re glad that this means his surgeries and patients were all okay, but you know it doesn’t ease the pain and stress of going into a surgery worried that it might not end well. Also, not to mention the immense stress simply performing a surgery brings. The notches on his notebook always come to mind at times like this. It took a while for you to talk to him about it but when he told you they were a tally of how many patients have passed in his care, your heart ached. Since then, he hasn’t kept track and you’re very glad that he confided in you and made the decision to stop. He doesn’t deserve to have that guilt hang over his head when it’s never been his fault.
You continue to soothe him and ask “couldn’t sleep again?” He responds slowly and clearly exhausted “I haven’t felt tired…” he pauses “but you being here is already making me drift into sleep” he says muffled into your chest. “Thank you, I’m happy to see you, I just… I have another surgery soon.” “The staff has already shifted the time slots, you know they don’t let you push that far. It’s been 2 days, love,” you explain to him. Surgeons have already been called in due to the emergency and Zayne has a 12 hour period until his next shift. The staff know he’d get upset if they forced him to not work for more than a day, especially during an emergency. He’s quiet for a minute or two. “I know you trust your team. Take this time to breathe baby,” you say to him gently. When he’s in this state, he can’t form thoughts coherent enough to help calm himself down with logic. So you do it for him, softly, with lots of kisses. You kneel down to meet his eyes and cradle his face in your warm hands. He nuzzles very slightly into your touch and you kiss him on his forehead. He honestly almost falls asleep right then and there. You move him to the couch in his office, he has a wider couch to accommodate naps. He prefers his office to the call rooms (in hospital rooms for staff to sleep in), it just feels cozier and you’re also usually here.
You let him get comfy as you bring over pillows and a blanket for him, all prepared nearby because he quite commonly has to do this. With his eyes closed he mutters a slurred “love you s’much.” He has more words for you but can barely even conceptualize them in his head, let alone speak them out loud. But he knows that you understand the sentiment. He’ll make it up to you when he wakes up.
Somehow you’ve been able to stop his nightmares since you two got close again. He isn’t scared to sleep as long as you’re around. You’re his only safe haven from the dreams and just thinking about that makes him so emotional. He just thinks it makes so much sense that you cure him in this way and he loves you so much, you take such good care of him and he does the same back.
He quickly drifts off into sleep as you sit in front of the couch on the carpet while holding his hand and patting his back slowly. You purposely pat slowly to encourage his heart rate to slow and calm down. You will sometimes leave to do your own thing after he falls asleep but most of the time you stay close, wanting to keep protecting him in his sleep in a way. It probably doesn’t really make a difference but you don’t mind doing your work or playing on your phone nearby. It’s kinda like you think he subconsciously feels you there and so you stay. You don’t pay it much mind but he hasn’t told you that he feels so much better when he wakes up and sees you there. It makes a wave of warmth flow over his cold self and he can’t explain how much he loves it and you.
You watch him a little longer as his breathing slows and you know he’s fast asleep. You go to sit on his chair and check some messages on your phone but you make sure to give him another kiss on his temple before going. You don’t really see it but his lips curve ever so slightly, completely subconsciously enjoying it.

Hey, I don't usually make posts like this because I don't like begging for money from people, but a friend of mine really needs help right now.
Her cardiac alert service dog ate something it shouldn't have, and needs emergency surgery that she cannot afford.
Anything you can give would be lovely, but if you can't donate then a reblog would be appreciated!

Wonderful World FanFic
Seon Yul x Soo Hyun sequel
(A short novel for one of my favorite no labels but rich in chemistry duo, relationship and what if couple in Kdrama. If you are not a “shipper”, better not read this one. New characters are added and will be added. Please take note this is all in my interpretation of the story and the aftermath of the finale. Enjoy! PS. I will try to update this every week if schedule permits)
Part 2: Summertime Solace
Tumblr media
Will I be able to go on living like this? Seon Yul asked himself. After he testified for Soo Hyun and against his uncle, he was thinking what awaits the son of a murderer in the real world? He remembered though, that Soo Hyun did it after 7 years of being incarcerated so perhaps, he too, can do it, too. He can give the world another chance and the world will give him another chance. His dream has always been to become a doctor and he continued his studies and applied in Seoul National University Hospital. The first 2 years were so tough but the pain was never like the pain he got when he lost his parents so he carried on. To his surprise, he wasn't bullied in the hospital, perhaps, he said Soo Hyun was right, there is still kindness in the world. His demons are still there, but it is now trauma and not monsters. He wants to forgive his father and most of all, himself and he is getting there, slowly but surely.
“Dr. Gwon, there is an orphanage 30 kilometers away from Seoul, they need a volunteer for a month but maybe in the future a resident doctor, too, will your team be up to it?”, his Chief surgeon asked. “Yes, we are”.  They packed light and were excited to go especially since it's away from the city, they needed a break. Hospital ships are great but it can be exhausting. Not to mention Seon Yul , as he discovered, can be sea sick. He has to be careful, his heart specifically can't afford to overwork. He was so hopeful for this new adventure, and his team, 2 of his closest friends can’t think of a better way to recharge for their next months of grueling surgeries and exams, 1 last year and Seon Yul will become officially a cardiac surgeon.
Traveling was fun but Seon Yul, always an introvert, was reading a book. He is reading her book “Wonderful World”. Looking at the window, summer is finally here. Not too cold but not hot either, just fine weather. The sun is sitting in the sky and he can smell a creek, maybe a lake, and he can see green grasses, with tiny huts, a playground and a huge house. The bus stopped, they are here. He read the sign “Wonderful Smiles”.
Soo Hyun was panicking, she didn't have enough food for the Doctors coming in, she got side tracked by an unexpected visit from her sister and niece. She missed her. Her sister lives in Seoul and opened 3 more branches. Business is good and she is now married, with a daughter of her own. Soo Hyun wanted to cook but there was no time. So she rushed outside to go to the town to buy food and suddenly, she saw something she never thought she'd ever see again, up close. Someone…she looked like she had seen a ghost. She stopped and dropped her list. She wanted to be sure. Seon Yul? She said, It is really him. She smiled. He smiled. She welcomed them and Seo Yul didn't really know what to say and do at that moment, until Soo Hyun reached for his hand, and they shaked hands, for the 1st time, not as enemies, maybe not as friends yet, but acquaintances.
“It is good to meet you, finally, Dr. Soo Hyun”. It is the 1st time Seon Yul called her by her first name. It is good to finally see you, Dr. Gwon, she replied. She wanted to be more formal, choosing his family name instead. The other Doctors, confused as they are, introduced themselves and wanted to ask how the two knew each other but surprisingly, both Seon Yul and Soo Hyun replied “it is a long story” together. They looked at each other and again smiled while nodding their heads. They went inside and settled down. They toured the house, the compound, more accurately. The staff told them to rest and dinner will be served later.
Seon Yul is a little bit overwhelmed. He didn't think he will see Soo Hyun again after that day. But maybe, fate has the final say. Maybe it is time.
After showering, he wanted to go outside and see the dawn. Perhaps, tonight the stars.
At the corner of his eye, he saw Soo Hyun going to her car. He ran slowly to her and said “Can I go with you? I’d like to help for dinner”. Soo Hyun said she will be fine but he insisted. In her car, there is an eerie silence. Nobody talked for a polite amount of time. Until Soo Hyun asked “What do you want to eat”, "Do you still like the same foods”.
“You remember?, seemingly surprised and smirked.  Yes, I still like the same”. Do you stay here all the time? He asked bravely. He was surprised by his question but he can’t take it back now.
"Most of the time, she replied. It is a beautiful place, I love it here. Away from the noise. Just away from everything”
They bought a lot. From tteokbokki to sea foods and live squids, Soo Hyun’s favorite. Before going back, a cozy tea house is still open. Seon Yul looked at Soo Hyun, as if to say “Do you want some tea?” and Soo Hyun, just nodded and smiled as they entered and drank tea. Just like before when they were enemies, tea is a symbol of their indifference and uncertainty. Perhaps now, the tea tastes better, as the new leaf for summer turns a new page. He looks at her everytime she sips her tea and nods her head and when she looks back up, he pretends not to notice. He is thinking loudly. Here is someone I used to hate so much and now, she is having tea with me, a real one, no motive, just tea. The air is thick and it is normal. The air is not gloomy but hopeful. They shared some words and just some silence embracing this peace they thought they wouldn’t find together at least with each other.
Soo Hyun? They heard a voice. They looked up and It’s Su ho.
(PS: Thank you for reading esp my X fellow shippers & friends. I got inspired by you, few or not, this is for all of you. Till next chapter! It's gonna be more intense, sort of 😳)

Okay…. I don’t usually do these types of things, but for once I am… I seriously need some help with everything going on.
As some of you know, my son was born March 28th and was not breathing. He was immediately rushed to NICU where he was put on a cpap and given medications to keep a ductal development open to save his life. We knew that he had a heart condition before he was born which allowed doctors to act quickly.
Tumblr media
To explain what is wrong with his heart…. He has dextrocardia, congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries, pulmonary atresia, and VSD. To break all that down. His heart is on the right side of his chest, his heart is mirrored, he is missing the part of his pulmonary artery that connects to his heart (there was a ductal development that kept blood flow from the pulmonary to the aorta which was connected to the heart right at the VSD) and a hole between the bottom two chambers of his heart (VSD). Ductal developments are normal in babies. It is a small vessel that connects the pulmonary artery to the aorta while in the womb which provides blood flow to the lungs. Within 48 hours of birth, this ductal development will shrink till it no longer exists.
At 3 days old, we transferred from the birth hospital to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where he went to cardiac ICU. Doctors were pretty sure they could place a stint in the ductal development to keep it open and get him home pretty quickly. At less than a week old, he went in for the stint where they discovered that the tissue of the ductal development was also in his pulmonary artery. This meant that he had to have open heart surgery to repair the pulmonary artery and place a shunt to allow blood flow into his lungs. His surgery was April 5th when he was only 8 days old and went well.
Tumblr media
The recovery from surgery was going to tell us everything we needed to know about his future surgery and what to expect. Thankfully this wasn’t as bad as it could be. He did recover a lot slower than we expected. Because of that, we have not moved to acute care yet and are still in the cardiac ICU. I have spent most days here with Erik while my husband is at home with our toddler. The reason for this is we can’t afford for me to drive back and forth. It’s 100 miles round trip which is rough, especially with gas prices being $3.49 or higher. On top of that, I am having to get food 3x a day, plus pay for parking and breastmilk bags because I am not allowed to breast feed him yet. I am having to pick up new clothes for him because he is so small he is wearing preemie clothing. I am staying at the Ronald McDonald House and they ask for $20 a day if we can and covering one meal a day. My toddler had to start daycare so my husband can work. We really are in need of some help. Every little bit helps and if you can’t, can you please at least share this to help get the word out. Maybe someone can help us in some way.
Other ways to help are:
Cashapp: $Cosmichairdesigns
Venmo: @cosmichairdesigns
To everyone who can share or help, thank you so much. You are appreciated more than I can express in words.

It's been a while since I've said anything here...
I still haven't been approved for disability benefits, so most of my thoughts and energy has been zapped by trying to just stay alive right now. Financial issues aren't new, and it isn't like everyone else is doing so wonderfully that I feel like I'm alone in this. No, rather, I know I'm not alone, and in that regard I know my incessant complaints about my situation isn't changing the situation at all. So, I just don't talk about it as much.
However.... this Monday I had an appointment with my primary care doctor to really go over things. The torn hip labrum can't be fixed...or rather, the orthopedic surgeon I saw isn't confident that he can do me any good by fixing it. It seems my skull isn't the only part of my skeletal system that is messed up. I have pelvic and femoral antiversion, meaning...my bones are twisted. My pelvis is tilted, the hip sockets are too big, the hip ball joint is too small, and my femurs are twisted, so when I walk, I'm tearing my own labrum out. My left hip is already full of osteoarthritis, so if they did try to fix the right labrum, I would be putting too much stress on my left hip during the healing process that I'd likely need the left one fixed immediately.
I only weigh 108 pounds. Having me off my feet for 6months to heal from one hip surgery- that may or may not fix the situation- is risky. Add on another 6 months of healing for the chance of the left hip needing fixed immediately, and well.... let's just say, it isn't in the best interest of my actual health. Especially with the added bonus of a cardiac issue.
This is all going on, and then I broke a tooth. I've only got so many teeth left, you know?? So, I've been trying to come up with the funds to afford the dentures that I'm going to need here in about 3 weeks. I go see an oral surgeon next week for a consultation. The lowest price on my bottom denture is $700. That doesn't cover the teeth extraction. That doesn't cover anything but the denture.
I turned 44 on the 3rd. How the hell is this my 40s? Like... none of this is what I expected to be doing in my 40s. I found out that I've been lied to my entire life, gas lit and told that I was the healthiest person in my family. My parents used to brag about how few times I'd seen the doctor , because I didn't need to go, I didn't have anything wrong with me. Meanwhile, my bones were twisting under my skin, my skull had fused together too early and made no room for my brain. The entire time I was growing, I suffered.
And now... I wake up every day knowing there is no escape from the pain. I will live in pain every day for the rest of my life...
Somehow, it's comforting to know I wasn't imagining things when I was younger. I can't fix the situation...I can't figure out how to deal with the relationship I have with my parents. I don't know how to process any of what I have gone through in my life, and it's taken 44 years to be told the truth about the body I've been living in. I'm really proud of myself for having done all the things I've done in life...do you have any idea how much strength it had to take for my twisted frame to balance on stilletos all those years?!?!?!
Anyway. It's too much. I'm overwhelmed and exhausted and depressed and wildly detached from so many things. I'm trying to find a way back to some semblance of peace... I crave peace of mind more than anything.

Empowering Hearts: How Cardiac Surgery Changes Lives
Cardiac surgery
Cardiac surgery, a medical field that specializes in the treatment of heart diseases, is a remarkable branch of healthcare. It involves a range of surgical procedures designed to correct various heart-related conditions, with the ultimate goal of saving lives and improving patients' overall health. Cardiac surgery, often referred to as cardiovascular surgery, is a surgical subspecialty focused on treating heart diseases and abnormalities. It encompasses a wide array of procedures, from relatively common ones like coronary artery bypass surgery to complex operations like heart transplantation.
Tumblr media
How is cardiac surgery done?
Cardiac surgery, also known as Cardiovascular surgery, is a highly specialized field that involves intricate procedures to treat heart diseases and abnormalities. The specific approach and techniques used in cardiac surgery can vary depending on the patient's condition and the type of surgery required. Before the surgery, a thorough evaluation of the patient's medical history, physical condition, and diagnostic tests is conducted. This assessment helps the surgical team plan the procedure and ensure that the patient is a suitable candidate for surgery. Cardiac surgery is performed under general anesthesia. This means that the patient is unconscious and feels no pain during the procedure. An anesthesiologist carefully administers and monitors the anesthesia throughout the surgery. The surgeon makes an incision in the patient's chest, typically through the breastbone (sternum). The choice of incision may vary, with minimally invasive techniques using smaller incisions in certain cases. The incision allows access to the heart and its surrounding structures. To perform many cardiac surgeries, the patient's blood needs to be redirected away from the heart. Throughout the surgery, the patient's vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels, are closely monitored by the surgical team.
How safe is cardiac surgery?
Cardiac surgery, like any major medical procedure, carries certain risks, but it is generally considered safe when performed by skilled and experienced cardiac surgeons in well-equipped medical facilities. The safety of cardiac surgery depends on several factors, including the patient's overall health, the specific procedure being performed, and the quality of medical care provided. One of the critical factors in ensuring the safety of cardiac surgery is the selection of appropriate candidates. Not all patients with heart conditions are suitable for surgery. A thorough preoperative evaluation assesses the patient's overall health, comorbidities, and suitability for surgery. The safety of cardiac surgery is closely tied to the quality of the medical facility where the procedure is performed. The safety of cardiac surgery is enhanced by providing individualized care to each patient. Tailoring the treatment plan to the patient's specific needs and circumstances improves outcomes.
What is the age limit for cardiac surgery?
There is no strict age limit for cardiac surgery. The eligibility for cardiac surgery is determined on a case-by-case basis, and it primarily depends on the patient's overall health, the specific heart condition, and the potential benefits and risks associated with the surgery. While age alone is not a decisive factor in determining eligibility for cardiac surgery, it is essential to consider various aspects when assessing whether a patient, especially an older one, is a suitable candidate for cardiac surgery. Ultimately, the age limit for cardiac surgery is not defined by a specific number but rather by the individual's overall health, the nature of the heart condition, and the potential risks and benefits associated with the surgery. The goal is to provide the best possible care and treatment plan tailored to the patient's specific needs and circumstances.
Who is high risk for heart surgery?
High-risk patients for heart surgery are individuals who face a significantly elevated risk of complications or adverse outcomes due to their specific health conditions, medical history, or other factors. The decision to undergo heart surgery in high-risk patients is a complex and carefully considered one. Older individuals, typically defined as those over 80, often have a higher risk of complications due to the natural aging process, which can affect various organ systems.  In some cases, alternative treatments, such as less invasive procedures or medical management, may be considered to reduce surgical risks. Each patient's situation is unique, and the decision to undergo heart surgery should be based on a thorough assessment of their individual health and the potential benefits and risks.

Bones to Booth after her father arrested and died, "We should've gotten there sooner."
Me, "You should've taken him to a better hospital."
Sorry for the spoiler, but this episode is 7 years old.
Why oh why is every code in the media run so poorly? Can they never afford a single qualified consultant? An actual code can be pretty dramatic... although too slow for actual media to portray, no one is going to want to wait for a 2min round of compressions to finish to check for a pulse and shock.
For this awful rendition of a code, Max (Bones's dad) is lying in a hospital bed after having surgery due to multiple gunshot wounds and he's talking to Bones when he suddenly goes unconscious. His monitor makes a sound like asystole (I couldn't actually see the ECG monitor) and staff quickly runs into the room. I'll give them props to their fast response but not for what happens next. An ambubag is placed near and eventually on his face. Someone calls out that the heart rate is still dropping (can't drop lower than zero guys). They spend way too long looking for a pulse. After Bones is escorted out of the way you can see someone in the background checking Max's pupils... not a priority in an arrest. All this time his head of bed is still elevated and no one has started compressions. The scene is cut off around there, but it's no wonder he didn't survive. At least they didn't shock him through his gown (the show did that once to Booth when he coded during surgery... the surgeon grabbed the paddles and shocked him through the surgical towels, then once they got ROSC [return of spontaneous circulation] from multiple shocks they surgeon just went back to doing surgery... without changing his gloves and I doubt that defibrillator was sterile [also actual paddles are rarely used anymore]).
What should've occurred...
Max goes into cardiac arrest. Team rushes in. Someone drops the head of the bed while another person is checking for a pulse. Meanwhile someone is grabbing the code cart. If no pulse is found someone immediately jumps on the chest to start compressions. Another person should be working on bagging the patient with the ambubag while another person is preparing to get an advanced airway for more effective breath delivery. The code cart with defibrillator should be bedside by now and applying the defib pads at the next pulse check/compression break. The first dose of Epi has probably already been delivered in this time or would be soon. During all this the code runner (usually the physician... the one that seemed to be checking Max's pupils during the actual scene) should be considering the cause of this arrest (Hs & Ts). Rounds of compressions with meds and shocks should be delivered until ROSC was achieved or until all reversible causes were considered/treated and the doctor called off the code.
See, a real code is exciting and a flurry of activity. It could be portrayed much more accurately on screen. But it never is. Much to my chagrin.

Cardiac Catheterization: A minimally invasive procedure for diagnosing heart health
Tumblr media
Have you been experiencing chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or other heart-related issues? If so, your doctor might recommend a cardiac catheterization. This is a minimally invasive procedure that allows doctors to examine the inside of your heart and blood vessels. It's a safe and effective way to diagnose heart problems and determine the best course of treatment.
Why Choose Cureindia for Cardiac Catheterization?
While cardiac catheterization is a common procedure, choosing the right healthcare provider is crucial. Additionally, Cureindia offers cardiac catheterization at an affordable cost, making it accessible to a wider range of patients.
What is Cardiac Catheterization?
Cardiac catheterization is a procedure that involves inserting a thin, flexible tube called a catheter into an artery in your leg or arm. The catheter is then guided through your blood vessels to your heart. Once in place, doctors can use the catheter to:
Inject a contrast dye to visualize blockages in your arteries (coronary angiography)
Measure blood pressure and oxygen levels in your heart chambers
Take tissue samples from your heart muscle (biopsy)
Benefits of Cardiac Catheterization
Cardiac catheterization offers several benefits over other diagnostic procedures. It is:
Minimally invasive: Unlike open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization does not require a large incision.
Accurate: Cardiac catheterization provides doctors with a clear view of the inside of your heart and blood vessels.
Versatile: Cardiac catheterization can be used for both diagnosis and treatment. In some cases, doctors can use the catheter to perform procedures such as angioplasty or stent placement to open blocked arteries.
Who Needs Cardiac Catheterization?
Doctors may recommend cardiac catheterization for a variety of reasons, including:
Chest pain: Cardiac catheterization can help determine if chest pain is caused by coronary artery disease.
Irregular heartbeat: Cardiac catheterization can help identify the cause of arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats).
Heart valve problems: Cardiac catheterization can assess the function of your heart valves.
Heart failure: Cardiac catheterization can help determine the cause of heart failure and guide treatment decisions.
If you are concerned about your heart health, talk to your doctor about whether cardiac catheterization is right for you. At Cureindia, we are committed to providing our patients with high-quality, compassionate care. Contact us today to learn more about our cardiac catheterization services.
