Mha fandom when you say that Izuku’s biggest fic mischaracterization isn’t making him twinky:
Tumblr media
WHEN DID BEING A TWINK BECOME A BAD THING CAN I JUST ASK THAT
Like yes, twinkifying one male character in a ship can be annoying—it can perpetuate heterosexual roles onto same sex relationships (“who’s the woman in the relationship/who wears the pants in the relationship?”), BUT LET US BE CLEAR:
TWINKS ARE A PART OF THE QUEER COMMUNITY. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING A TWINK, MAKING A CHARACTER A TWINK, OR SEEING A CHARACTER AS A TWINK.
WHEN in the ever loving FUCK did that somehow translate into “the twink has to be the stereotypically aggressive one so it doesn’t abide by queer stereotypes”. HOW DID WE GET HERE.

I was rereading a few chapters back, I got very overwhelmed by the sheer meaning of a scene that suddenly hit me today. I guess I didn't fully comprehend it on my first read even when I've read metas about how important that one panel meant.
Tumblr media
Just at the moment he detonated his own heart, knowing that there's no chance of survival after his actions, we see Katsuki's mental state.
He's apparently in a calm, peaceful state, as if he's accepted what's gonna come, and the first thing he sees is vestige AM. And the only thing that comes to his mind is
Tumblr media
The genuine wish that if only he could be his true self all this time.
I think there's a nuance in here. From what I felt, the highlight here isn't that there's a vestige AM in him (tho that fact is equally important for the story), but the fact that Katsuki isn't looking at AM at all even when he's right in front of him.
It's the AM card. The sheer significance of its existence and the importance it held for Katsuki.
Katsuki kept this card doesn't just signify that he still has a nerdy side in him, the side that how much he had admired AM all this time.
No. What he sees through the card was the precious time that he once shared with Izuku. The knowledge that he, on that day, so fortunately got the same AM card with Izuku, a kid who he could never stop thinking about throughout his 10+ years.
Have you started to comprehend that one panel that change the meaning of this small moment?? The sequence leading to that panel, before and after it, the implication that it brings?? Have you ever wondered why the card was highlighted two times in these scene?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah people joked that it's bcs Izuku loves AM and couldn't ignore a damaged merch. But to Katsuki, the card meant a bond that he could have with Izuku if he hadn't been feeling insecure and inferior due to his pride this whole time.
In fact, he wasn't lamenting his missed chance of getting a signed merch from AM.
Towards his last moment, he was still only thinking of Izuku, of the missed out moments that they could have nerded out about AM together all this time. He recalled that precious memory while making a genuine and candid smile to himself.

Behind the locked door
Tumblr media
In honor of Izuku’s mask disintegrating into rubble, I think it’s finally time for me to really dig deep into his character. I’ve been keeping this one in my back pocket for a while. Amid all the talk about Izuku’s fading narration, the “control your heart” subplot, I’ve been trying to find the words to articulate how I know exactly where this is going, at least on a certain level. Most recently, I read this meta from pika who brings up how the word “control” alone can be misconstrued (by us). And then I thought about how a while back I made a similar point, although I said Izuku was the one who got it wrong. At that time, I was holding back a huge piece of evidence because it was external to the story and I wasn’t sure it would be received well. As a result, my argument fell a little flat. Well, now—after 411, right before leaks for 412—it might be my last chance to play this card.
So about that external evidence. I struggle to bring it up because it’s gonna sound an awful lot like I’m projecting onto Izuku if I don’t do it justice. But… I look at the way his storyline has been going lately and I see a pattern emerging that I’m very familiar with. Fortunately, I don’t have to dump a bunch of personal junk on you in order to illustrate this pattern, because a certain personality typing system already has it all figured out: the Enneagram.
Now, hang on. I’m not one to put people in boxes. My trans ass? I managed to get a different result every time I retook the P0ttermore quiz. MBTI, zodiacs—not my thing. But the Enneagram comes the closest I’ve ever seen to covering all the bases and revealing actually meaningful insight, at least for myself. On top of that, I find it extremely useful for fleshing out fictional characters, hence this post will be taking advantage of that.
For those who aren’t familiar with it, here’s a quick overview: The Enneagram consists of 9 individual personality types, each arranged carefully in a sequential, circular manner. They are also simply named 1 through 9. While this might seem kinda basic, there is actually a surprising amount of nuance and fluidity involved. Typing is done largely through personal introspection (you don’t really have to take a test). Adjacent numbers share some core themes with each other, and according to a web of arrows between them, one type can take on either positive or negative traits associated with other types depending on how emotionally ‘healthy’ they are, causing a lengthy spectrum of different ways each type can manifest. That part gets kinda complicated to explain here, so for more info, the Enneagram Institute website is a decent place to start. I also highly recommend the Enneagram album by Sleeping At Last (and if you really want to dedicate some time, the accompanying podcast) to really get inside the heads of the types on a deeper level.
My interest in applying the Enneagram to Izuku comes from observing how differently one can interpret his character based on whether you read him as a 2 or a 9. And even though no one uses this language to talk about him, the distinction accounts for a bunch of different rifts in the fandom: whether you appreciate bkdk’s relationship, whether you can acknowledge Izuku’s flaws and weaknesses, the severity of his vigilante/rogue phase, and most importantly the gravity of his concealed heart, his rage, and what it all means—what he needs in order to grow and triumph.
Discussion of Enneagram types in the fandom is pretty scarce, but where it exists, I have only seen him labeled as a 2. Type 9 and type 2 can be similar at a glance in a lot of ways (actually, 9s can be mistaken for any type because they are like all of them combined). It’s easy to see Izuku as a 2 because he is the helping hero archetype. He puts others’ needs above his own and he is always ready and eager to help. If you listen to Sleeping At Last’s song for 2, you’ll notice that it’s all about care and noble sacrifice with the underlying theme of neglecting or even harming oneself: “I just want to build you up, until your good as new, and maybe one day I will get around to fixing myself too.” Sounds pretty obvious, right? Well, here’s the thing. You really get to know what your type is by how it hits you where it hurts, so I like to focus on each type’s basic fear and basic desire, first and foremost, as a tell. A 2′s basic fear is of being worthless and unloved. Consequently, their most basic desire is to be loved. And 2s have been taught through their negative experiences that love is conditional, something they have to earn from others. They need to be needed. So let’s say you think Izuku is a 2. This means you consider his heroic, self-sacrificing tendencies to be a result of his growing up quirkless and being told he is worthless and powerless because of it. Through this lens, he is trying to prove himself to the world by being useful. Along these lines, you may also assume he is trying to prove himself to Katsuki. Taking this train of thought even further, you may interpret Izuku’s relationship with Katsuki as an obsession of his, where he is either blind to Katsuki’s more negative traits in favor of gaining his love and praise, or else bitterly determined to prove him wrong. This is how a 2 might behave in an unhealthy relationship with an 8, which, yes, I do think Katsuki is an 8. That’s a tangent for another time, though.
But does Izuku ever “need to be needed?” It’s worth noting that while 2s’ search for validation might seem insincere, it is actually motivated by a deep, heartbreaking insecurity. They think they don’t even deserve love unless they are useful to someone, so they do everything they can to be worthy. Does Izuku show signs of this motivation?
If I stop to think about it, I can’t exactly see this in Izuku’s character. Yeah, his dream is to be a hero, and in his childhood, he was denied that dream. However I think we need to take a step back from that for a second if we want to dig deep. I mean, a lot of the other characters also behave heroically, act selflessly, and strive to help. Does that mean all of them are 2s as well? Of course not. So let’s instead turn to observe how Izuku acts with his loved ones, friends, and peers in other/adjacent contexts:
Inko: He is committed to protecting his mother from fearing for his safety. He wants to be good enough to not cause her to worry, rather than good enough to make her proud or make her love him. Idk about his father but at this point I think it’s safe to assume he is deeply unimportant.
All Might: I would describe their relationship as one of mutual responsibility. Izuku feels a responsibility to uphold All Might’s legacy, All Might feels a responsibility to teach him well. Because of this mutuality, I don’t think it quite makes sense to say Izuku deliberately seeks approval for its own sake. You know what I mean? They may be a mentor and a pupil but in practice they are almost more like co-conspirators. They don’t really have a power dynamic going on.
Shouto, Tenya, other friends: Izuku seems to take an interest in what makes his friends tick, and he sets himself aside in order to both analytically and intuitively determine what’s wrong and how to solve it. Examples include his fight against Shouto in the sports festival, and his stubborn concern for Tenya’s reaction to his brother’s forced retirement. He will put himself in the line of fire specifically when confronted with another person’s inner demons. This is not a labor that is asked of professional heroes, it’s just who Izuku is. You can also extend this observation to how he sees through Tomura to Tenko, but I’ll get to that later. Basically, while 2s seek to help in all kinds of ways, a 9’s strategy is always centered on the realm of the mind.
Kota: Adjacent to the paragraph above, before Izuku literally gets into a position where he needs to save Kota, he becomes interested in the boy’s point of view out of genuine curiosity. He doesn’t go “oh no, this kid doesn’t like heroes, I better get him to like heroes.” Instead he seeks out information as to why he thinks that way, and patiently listens. He’s sorry about what happened to Kota, and he understands. Twice (ch 71 and 72), he recognizes the fact that everyone has their own point of view on quirks, and he can’t really do anything about that.
Mirio: This might be one of the most telling examples. Mirio is the platonic ideal of an All Might successor. He’s “perfect.” He even looks the part. While this initially makes Izuku uncomfortable, he doesn’t become insecure and defensive over it. On the contrary, he easily comes to the conclusion that actually, Mirio should have One for All. Just like that (ch 172). If Mirio hadn’t dismissed the “hypothetical,” he probably would have gone through with giving it to him. That’s not how a 2 would respond. A 2 would double down and aim to be better than Mirio by trying to establish some relationship of need, fueled by the insecurity. Their shared subplot with Eri would have looked pretty different, I think.
Katsuki: I’ve mentioned before that I believe their rivalry only exists because Katsuki put it there. First of all, we can see that after the sludge villain incident, Izuku weirdly takes Katsuki’s dismissal of Izuku’s help as practical advice. Like, “oh yeah, I guess what I did was pretty stupid and dangerous, and I’m not cut out for this hero stuff. Now I can move on and find a realistic career.” Hello?? He accepted that so easily. So Izuku clearly isn’t motivated by a desire to prove himself to Katsuki. Even when he proclaims he’s going to surpass him, it’s like he’s happily mimicking Katsuki, not reacting based on insecurity or pride. Izuku is content to meet Katsuki wherever he is, and he’s satisfied with whatever kind of relationship they are able to have, including a rivalry, so he isn’t vying for his affection either. We can observe this when he gives up the role of reaching out a hand to save Katsuki to Kirishima, and also when he thinks about how “blessed” he is to even have a normal conversation with Katsuki. He doesn’t push things. It’s also stated in Deku vs. Kacchan 2 that Izuku doesn’t excuse or overlook Katsuki’s “bad side” but still admires him for his other traits. This is not at all characteristic of a toxic 2x8 relationship.
When 2s are at their very worst or pushed into unhealthy situations, they tend to become more needy and self-centered, even downright manipulative. But at Izuku’s worst, when he went rogue, he pushed everyone away to avoid being a burden. When the refugees at UA tried to prevent him from returning, he was like, “you’re right” and would have turned back immediately if not for his friends, loved ones, and other people who care about him telling him it was all okay. Meanwhile, Katsuki, in true 8 fashion, was pissed off at being rejected and having to deal with Izuku’s stubborn and evasive side (oh yeah, have I mentioned 9s are actually stubborn as hell?), but he made sure to establish that they are (he is) here to step in when Izuku can’t handle things by himself. Katsuki even opened up and admitted to his own weaknesses to show why mutual support is so important. Tbh, a lot of the above can be construed as just super healthy type 2 behavior, but not this. The way Izuku acts at his lowest, and his dynamic with Katsuki? Totally different. Dead giveaway for a 9.
Let’s get into the type 9 itself in more detail to show how it applies to Izuku more deeply—seriously, it’s beat for beat. One of the key differences is, while 2s seek validation, 9s are actually resigned to the belief that they aren’t important. Similar to 2s, a 9′s basic fear is of separation, but their basic desire is actually just peace or harmony rather than love. Notice how these motivations are just like a 2’s, except they have the “self” part taken out. With that in mind, they “achieve” their basic desire through selflessness in and of itself, without the need for recognition. That’s not to say that 9s are better than 2s. In fact, a 9 can be worse, in a way. If unhealthy, they will seek peace at almost any cost to themselves. In other words, they can be more self-destructive while still under the impression that they are doing just fine. “Peace” may refer to the expression of empathy, fulfilling the needs of others, sheltering someone, or mediating a fight—but also to repressing their own opinions and needs, not “rocking the boat,” ignoring negative emotions, or becoming a vessel for someone else to vent to.
What about inner peace? 9s value serenity, and thus they have a complicated relationship with the most tumultuous of emotions: anger. On the surface, 9s look like the type that is extremely slow to anger and highly tolerant. However, as much as they would like to believe this about themselves too, deep down, 9s are afraid of what might happen if they lose control. My phrase for it is this: I feel like a bottled tornado. Personally, I also think of anger as a basic desire to make others feel your pain—not necessarily sadistically, but in an effort to be known, to be understood. The difficult thing to grasp, especially for a 9, is that this is NOT inherently a bad thing. It isn’t wrong to seek sympathy. On the contrary, it is harmful to tell yourself that getting angry is wrong, because it’s like telling yourself that your pain is wrong, your pain doesn’t matter.
The problem is it doesn’t stop there. A 9, in shutting down their anger, ends up with such a low opinion of their own heart, their other emotions dull along with it. They cry less, laugh less, love less. It’s often said that they “fall asleep” to themselves. It all starts with anger. It’s interesting to note how different this whole mindset is from toxic masculinity—where men only feel allowed/able to express emotions through anger. This is sorta like the opposite. Anger becomes the dam rather than the river. For Izuku, I want us to consider that his suppression of anger carries with it the implication that he is hiding other things, too. It’s a given. There’s a whole sea of feelings out there, and we can only see the waves hitting the shore. This brings me to the whole “control your heart” thing. I do think it is worth mentioning that Banjou didn’t just tell Izuku to exercise control. He also told him that his anger could be useful if it is harnessed. With this added context, “control” here means “to master.” And Izuku seemed to grasp this concept… sorta. I think that if Izuku is like a 9, we can assume he has trouble understanding how anger could be a worthy source of strength. His emotions in relation to Katsuki feel more like a weakness to him, a character flaw in a hero, who is supposed to be detached and selfless. But he’s trying to understand, even though he’s afraid of it. He essentially applied the same strategy he used for mastering OFA itself: incremental strength training. Which, okay. Take a moment to absorb how odd that is, in relation to emotions, specifically. Does one learn to cry incrementally? Does one learn to use anger by bottling a fucking tornado?? Like, what, you think you’re gonna be able to let out juuust the right amount of air to avoid an explosion??? No, man… if you want to be the master of your emotions you have to be willing to sit with them. Confront them. Listen to them. Take them in completely and accept them as a part of yourself.
For someone like Izuku, though, it is very difficult to imagine how this is even possible. Tomura, as with every villain, can be used to reflect his hero counterpart’s greatest fear about himself. Tomura literally touches everyone and everything with his rage, and as a physical manifestation of that desire to pass his own pain onto others, destruction radiates from his fingertips. Thus, losing control in this manner must be Izuku’s worst nightmare, as if he would be completely unable to stop the collateral damage like an infinite line of dominoes. But his anger is not something he can overcome, as such.
An overarching theme in this heroes vs. villains conflict is that the villains are not merely obstacles to be overcome. Just think back to Himiko’s bitter rejection of the heroic sense of superiority. She demanded not to be pitied, condescended to, or lied to. Likewise, the answer cannot be that Izuku needs to restrain himself where Tomura doesn’t. What purpose would it serve to show that Izuku is better than him? Certainly not saving Tomura. If this was a battle against AFO, it might have been a different story. In that case, Izuku would have to overcome his emotional manipulation tactics. Tomura, on the other hand, is not so strategic. With his strangely childlike tendencies, he must relish making Izuku mad because it brings them closer to the same wavelength. It’s his own twisted way or seeking sympathy, or at least, the closest thing to sympathy he can get anymore, because he believes he is beyond saving. With that in mind, Izuku isn’t going to get anywhere unless he rises to meet him. Izuku has to match Tomura’s hatred with equally strong emotions of his own, whatever they may be, or else face the loss of OFA (as established in 305). This is not an easy thing to ask of a 9, once they have started to pull the blood from their extremities, become cold and numb. Bringing back circulation is painful and makes the skin crawl.
In case you’re worried about the focus on anger here, I want to reiterate that concealed anger in a 9 is just one sign of so much more. Back when everyone started fretting about Izuku’s habit of self-sacrifice, which would have been the only thing we need to worry about if he were a 2, I was freaking out because Izuku was also starting to look like a person who has too many secrets. You don’t even have to acknowledge the possibility that he lied about what triggered blackwhip. It’s written all over his face all the time these days. It’s especially noticeable when you contrast him with Katsuki after all his own growth. Katsuki confides in people. He acknowledges his weaknesses. He enjoys being himself. He asserts his place. He thinks about Izuku all the damn time and now he even lets himself be soft about it. All this warmth while Izuku is distant, muted, and blank. I know all too well what this state of mind is like. Man, I hate secrets. You get to the point where you don’t know how to talk about even the simplest most inconsequential shit. And the bigger things? They’re like a growing snowball of words in your throat that cannot possibly fit out of your mouth. The “easiest” way to cope is to simply fade into the rhythm of life. Go with the flow.
Since 9s have a natural curiosity about the interiority of other people, they may choose to focus on that in order to divert their own attention away from themselves. Taken to the extreme, they will lose track of their sense of self. Like I said, you can see Izuku doing this as he fights, analyzing the psyche of his opponent, and his match against Shouto in the sports festival was a fantastic early example. They became friends because of how observant Izuku is. His emotional intelligence and intuition are very strong, but gradually, as he has taken on greater responsibilities and experienced more trauma, he has gotten worse at applying these skills to himself. You know, we go on and on about how his narration has been reduced to nearly nothing, and it’s not just an absence of introspection, it’s an absence of self. It creates a lack of ownership over the narrative—what should be his narrative.
Right now, he’s focusing on trying to see Tomura as a person, figuring him out. I think it would be really satisfyingly ironic if in the process, he ends up uncovering insights about himself instead. It’s about time we learn what Izuku’s secrets are. I don’t actually think that Izuku mastering anger will constitute the emotion that is strong enough to keep Tomura from taking OFA. Moreover, he can’t expect to reach Tomura’s core, Tenko, unless he exposes his own. Rather, anger is the conduit for Izuku to unlock something else. Think of the way he described how Katsuki is his image of victory. The feeling manifests when he asserts a stronger sense of self (the urge to win) and he becomes more free with his words. I have no doubt that Tomura has the power to make unfiltered honesty spill out of him. He knows how to bring out his selfish needs, his pain, his pressure points, his fears, his insecurities. Hell, maybe Mt. Fuji erupting is a metaphor. I want to see Izuku explode while Tomura watches with mad glee. But then I want Izuku to Realize Things such that it finally sets him free. Then, instead of Tomura witnessing yet another person he touches fall apart, he gets to see someone become whole.
"I let the scale tip, feel all of it. It's uncomfortable but right. And we were born to try to see each other through. To know and love ourselves and others well is the most difficult and meaningful work we'll ever do." --Sleeping At Last, 'Nine'

What's in a name
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Idk man ever since I've started watching anime, there would always be something that gives importance to how a character refers to another. Like in cardcaptor where syaoran shouts sakura's name in the elevator or how in kobato, kiyokazu only called kobato in the last episode. There's a great meaning when you get called by your first name and it's like a testament to how strong their bond is to another character.
I only recently started looking at bkdk in a romantic light but even without that lens, katsuki calling izuku by his first name blew me away. Like yeah this might not change anything but this is what's in katsuki's heart. He reaches out to Izuku, wants to catch up to him because Deku may have the power, but Izuku is the one he looks up to. It's always been Izuku.

I recently am now looking through the mha fandom for the first time and discovered your blog. Looking through your posts and analysis you seem like you’re quite knowledgeable about Horikoshi’s writing or him in general and are confident about the potential of bkdk being canon. In fact, quickly looking through the bkdk tags, a lot people on here are quite confident about the relationship, whether viewing it platonic or romantic. Now I kinda expected that, as a bkdk shipper as well, but I became confused when I found alot of people implying that Horikoshi “ships” bkdk or encourages it. For the longest time I’ve only ever consumed the anime and never really knew what’s been going on in the fandom. So I don’t know much about Horikoshi, but I swear I heard way back about him not liking the ship bkdk and deliberately implying the relationship between Izuku and Uruaka. The questions I’m getting at here is, what makes you think that Horikoshi wants bkdk to be canon and is there any hints about it outside of the main anime/manga that supports that? I acknowledge how it’s hinted at that bkdk heavily “need each other” or something like that in the anime/manga, I just always thought it was always going to be platonic and that Izuku and Uruaka will be end game. Maybe it is that and everyone is just joking about Horikoshi, idk I’m confused and lost lol.
Okay what you're asking for is a little strange, because Hori's storytelling really does speak for itself, his heart shows up the most in his writing of bkdk, but here goes…!
In regards to Hori’s feelings about them, hmm I’m going to get there one day soon(tm), but I’ll give you two examples outside the manga that show bkdk are important to him and why Hori is a bkdk like us.
First is when an interviewer was asking about Kirishima saving Katsuki and Hori responded to him with a sentiment that sounded a lot like “actually the takeaway from this scene was bkdk. that it was a bittersweet moment because Izuku couldn’t be the one to take his hand… but the decision was made." He really deflected the topic away from Kirishima and pointed at bkdk "Look at them instead".
Tumblr media
Showing importance of that decision to bkdk’s development because THEY are what’s most important to the series, not any of their relationships with the main side characters. (And then we got the parallel to this where Katsuki feels he didn’t have what it took to take Izuku’s hand during the Deku retrieval arc. Regrets, regrets, regrets... everywhere. Now Katsuki is dead and Izuku "still hasn't told him ____")
My second example is something I bring up on twitter a bit, but that's only because it's so validating.
So you know when Katsuki died, every bkdk was crying and/or freaking out, right? Back then the mood was… “How is Izuku going to react to this?” And in a lot of bkdk’s hearts, we imagined Izuku kneeling at Katsuki’s side, embracing him, possibly acting very protectively over his body. People drew fanart of this.
I also had this kind of vision of him... but back then, MANY of us did.
Tumblr media
But for the most part, we knew it wouldn’t be practical in the middle of a fight setting and then come January, Horikoshi showed us he felt the exact same way as us about them with his Volume 37 cover “illustration.” It was like a brainworm image of Izuku and Katsuki he couldn't get out of his head unless he drew it for the cover, something he felt bkdk deserved, but he couldn't give it to them in the manga because of the unrealism and impracticality of it happening mid-fight.
What I’m saying is: when Katsuki died, all bkdks dreamed of Izuku holding him close and/or protecting him and Horikoshi turned that collective vision, that many of us felt in our hearts, into a freaking volume cover.
As bkdks, we have this idea in our heads of these characters; what motivates them, what or who are important to them, because this far along the story, these characters are basically writing themselves. And by him and us connecting on this feeling Izuku has with Katsuki, Hori is confirming the way we see Izuku and the importance of his intense love for Katsuki as "the correct version" of Izuku that also exists in HIS mind, and he showed his hand to us of him being the biggest bkdk out of all of us. He quite literally is our King of BkDk.
Tumblr media
The reveal of this cover is the moment I knew, without a doubt, that Hori was one of us. And that's not even factoring in that Edgeshot quote. Even that is a whole thing in itself to unpack, which I've done multiple times already.
If Hori's chosen composition and overall mood for this cover weren't already damning enough evidence for his love of bkdk and intent on making them canon, the other thing of note is that the red fingers in their background are HEAVILY inspired by Berserk.
When I saw it, I got flashbacks of the eclipse, and the hand that lifted Griffith out of Guts' reach. It also turns out there was a very similar "lovers" pose between Guts and Casca for that eclipse content. And then there are all of those Spider-Man death embraces with Gwen Stacy.
The inspirations for this volume 37 for the hero comic-loving Horikoshi are quite clear: Izuku is embracing his future lover.

Bkdk short fic
———————
Katsuki just got his license! Finally! Now he can beat Deku!
“Kacchan! Now we can be hero partners!!” Speak of the devil and he shall come. A groan escapes Katsuki’s throat.
“For fucks sake! Is that all you fucking care about?!? Not worried I’m gonna beat your ass?” Katsuki scoffs.
“Of course not! I’ve planned our entire future together!”
“You- you what?!?”
“Yeah! Like here’s our engagement rings…” Izuku rummaged through his pockets. “Here’s the wedding rings.” Izuku pulls out a photo next as the rest of the class starts to gather and watch in awe. “Here’s the design your mother made for your wedding dress for our wedding day. And here’s mine.”
“WHEN THE FUCK DID YOU GET MY MOM TO DRAW THIS SHIT?!?” Katsuki gapes, looking at the designs.
“Well, you know she’s always been a supporter of us!” Katsuki looks at him in confusion. What the fuck is the nerd talking about?!?
“I like how Bakugou is upset about the fact that his mother designed it without asking him rather than the fact it’s a dress!” Mina laughs, taking the pictures from Izuku.
“Kacchan and I planned to both wear dresses at our wedding!”
“WHEN WE WERE THREE!”
“Yup! And ever since I’ve been planning and saving my money for our wedding!” Izuku smiles brightly.
“Wait… Deku… how much money do you have saved up???” Ochako asks confused.
“Uh… a lot. Enough to have the most luxurious wedding ever.” Izuku laughs nervously.
“YOU TOLD ME YOU WERE BROKE!!” Ochako yells at him. “YOU LIAR!! You’re filthy rich!!”
“Did you know about this Bakugou?!” Kirishima asks.
“FUCK NO! I practically forgot about that shit when we were 3?!?” Katsuki is holding one of the rings in shock. “THIS SHIT IS EVEN MY FUCKING SIZE?!?”
“And it matches your hero costume and pretty much every clothes in your closet! Then it’s also made so you can wear it while working, nothing sharp or jagged so you can’t hurt yourself or anyone else by accident! Then the dress comes with…” Izuku starts to rant, pulling out more sheets of folded paper. “Gauntlets made out of red roses! You’ll have a flower crown made of orange flowers and red flowers. Your dress is mostly white with red and orange accents and some black! I made sure to make your heels like boots that even in an emergency scenario you can fight in them!”
The class gathers to watch as Izuku describes the most perfect wedding plan they have ever heard. Especially for pro heroes. Every outfit, every accessory, is made to be able to handle a battle or be used in a battle if necessary. Even involving hidden weapons. Each small detail outlined on several sheets of paper.
“Midoriya… do you just… carry this everywhere?!?” Kaminari asks, concerned.
“Of course! I have a special pocket for it all in my hero costume! In case I need to update anything! Like if Kacchan gets a new scar! Or even if I get hurt! I want to make sure our wedding is absolutely perfect! Even if something goes wrong!” Izuku stands proudly.
“Deku…” Katsuki looks at him, blushing.
“Y-yes… Kacchan??” Izuku suddenly realizes he just spilled a lot of embarrassing things and is getting ready to be yelled at.
“Get the fuck here, right fucking now!” Katsuki growls, pointing to the ground in front of him. Izuku whimpers and steps closer, only to be grabbed by the collar and dragged into a kiss. Izuku’s world explodes.
He just kissed Kacchan. Kacchan kissed him. And is still kissing?!? And Izuku melts into it as he can hear giggles and cheers as well as photos being taken. “Uh, Kacchan…?” Izuku breathes heavily as they separate.
“What need?” Katsuki’s ears blush.
“Does this mean we’re engaged now? Should I get the rings?” Izuku blinks while blushing like crazy.
“Fuck yeah.”
“YOU GUYS ARE FIRST YEARS IN HIGH SCHOOL!” Iida shouts. “You shouldn’t be planning a marriage when you have to work to be a hero! Or even a student!”
“But that’s the thing Four-Eyes! Deku already did the planning. There’s nothing to plan!” Katsuki wraps his arm around Izuku’s shoulder with a smug look. “I always said I wanted my partner to be decisive and smart.”
“Kacchan?”
“Yeah?”
“Can we kiss again??”
“Yeah, yeah. Alright. C’mere.” They go for another heated kiss, this time with plenty of tongue. The others have to snap them out of their make out session. Oh yeah. They’re going to be great.
“I call the cat in the divorce.” Katsuki smirks playfully at Izuku.
“DIVORCE?!?” Izuku gasps. “OH MY GOD! I didn’t plan for a divorce!! I have to go and plan everything!! Oh who will get the squirrel-proof bird feeder?!? Who will get the couch?!!? And the merch collection?!?” Izuku starts to panic.
“Nerd. Chill. I’m joking.” Katsuki rolls his eyes. “We’re not getting a divorce. You don’t have to plan for it.”
“BUT WHAT IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND?!?” Izuku starts to sob.
“Izuku.” Katsuki says sternly. Izuku looks at him in shock.
“Oh… okay. Thanks Kacchan.” Izuku smiles, wiping his tears.
“Big crybaby.”

Question for all my fellow former BkDk Antis (and BKDKs in general)— what made you change your mind?Just to reinstate, yes, I was once an Anti (crazy, ik)
I would complain to my friends about how such an “AwFuL” and “ToXIc” ship like BkDk could exist. I always thought Bk was too selfish and arrogant to ever love someone
then… Dk vs Bk 2 and the clean-up scene
it was the first time (besides in the beginning of the series) where we see Bk really cry and allow himself moments of vulnerability. And, to top it all off, he does so in front of Dk only. Even though at this point in the story Dk and Bk aren’t even proper rivals, something about this moment of honesty and softness from Bk 100% hit a cord.
And then again, with the clean-up scene where Dk asks about his new move. Bk, once again, displays honesty and true integrity by answering Dk’s question as best as he can.
I vividly remember being so confused and bewildered by this point in the story. I think the biggest reason people have a tendency to hate on BkDk is because of the stigma that comes with Bk’s (somewhat) controversial character growth. For example; I used to adamantly believe Bk was just an annoyingly rude guy who would only serve as the ammunition for a weird rivalry trope with the main character. But, it’s so much more than that. Bk feels a little too real and fleshed out, if I’m being honest. He defies stereotypes by acting and saying things people would never expect from the angsty deuteragonist character. And as we see later in the series, his biggest act of rebelling against normalcy is his love for Dk. Dk vs Bk 2 was the catalyst for everything that’s going on presently in the manga, imo. It was the dam that broke and opened the flood gates for character growth and development. It showed us that even a ‘heartless’ guy like Bk could feel pain, fear, and vulnerability. It not only showed to us but to Dk as well that Bk wasn’t perfect— he wasn’t untouchable. It showed us that Bk was really just a human.
and, well, I am a sucker for vulnerable, gentle interactions. I would loveloveLOVE to hear about any other ex-anti stories y’all have to share. Or heck, even just regular BKDK stories! What made you fall for the iconic chaotic duo???

Honestly if bkdk doesn’t become even close to them being like duo partners, or like just being very close friends in the end, imma be so confused.
Like how will they explain the whole chasing thing, the constant keep your eyes on me, are you gonna be able catch up to me cuz I’m going ahead to the “can I ever catch up to you Izuku?”
Or the childish nickname that Bakugo doesn’t tell him to stop using, sharing OFA secret only to him bc Midoriya couldn’t stand the idea that Bakugo thought he was lying to him
Midoriya going savage after Bakugo getting hurt, to Bakugo waking up in the hospital and he is fighting to go see his childhood friend.
To the I know him better then anyone else.
Taking the AllMight card they got as kids together to war and thinking about it before he died!?? Reaching out to him, calling him by his name and ending up in the vestige world…
Like how are these not romantic? Honestly, Hori could’ve easily made Ochako be part of all of these tropes, as the love interest she could’ve had at least been the one to know OFA secret, or even a moment where they stranded somewhere or in a mission to defeat a villain.
I guess that’s where mangaka don’t know how to write female protagonist, but if Midoriya and Ochako do become canon, they had a lot of space to have almost similar plot but instead of Bakugo it could’ve been Ochako.
She is a smart with a powerful quirk, and if she is endgame then I will have to agree with the statement that Hori doesn’t know how to write female characters. But that’s only if Midoriya and her become canon, cuz there was soo much potential to give her more character development, instead of giving it to Bakugo.
Bakugo is one of my favorite characters tho, and it’s fascinating to see the relationship he already has with other characters.
The position for best friend is already given to Kirishima. He was in the hospital when Midoriya wakes up after Bakugo got kidnapped, and states that this must be harder on Midoriya than it is to him, which is why he wants to go looking for him. Best friend is asking the closest person to join him to save Bakugo.
His true rival is Todoroki, they are always in equal footing, from the beginning with their developing ideas of what is hero, to them failing the exams, all the way to the war.
Bakugo is the only one with no love interest, which is okay honestly and technically doesn’t have to mean anything, but how are you gonna counter the idea that he is obsessed with Midoriya.
I know MHA is not gonna end with a bkdk kiss, or like them pronouncing their love for each other bc this disgusting world is still very homophobic. But I want them to at least be the first people to they see when they wake up from the hospital or something. Probably like a Mustang and Hawkeye relationship, not official but obviously something.
¯\ _(ツ)_/¯ but I don’t know, this is just me ranting. If anyone wants to talk about MHA with me pls message me. I have bkdk brain rot but I’m not close minded, I love all of the characters. And I know how people talk about Hiro rushing the manga, but he is doing it at the same pace as always. For example from the very start you have Midoriya getting OFA and it’s just like a montage of him working out, not much of a full arc of him training. And it’s a lot of character growth. The important ones have the scream time and other have crumbs but it’s enough for me to understand the dynamic.
Hiro doesn’t hold hands with his writing. So if he is just writing a very close friendship with these guys and not make it anything else then I been played. Bc they have examples of caring friends around them, like Todoroki, Iida, Kirishima and Ochako. Almost everyone at 1A are fighting for each others smiles, but none of them go to the extent of the wonder duo!
Even Aizawa states that when both of them are involve, they change the dynamic in the class. They inspire others to try harder and have this thing about them that even All Might admires about both of them.
Ughh well anyone wants to rant with me pls message me, I need friends that want to talk about anime

Detective Bakugou Katsuki's Agency
#bkdk
Katsuki likes to work on his own, that's why he got his own agency. He's been doing this freelancing detective work for a while now, he's so good that the police themselves even ask for his help.
The local police is so incompetent, that hiring Katsuki was the smartest thing they've ever done. Apparently he needs to investigate and if possible capture (and IF possible, alive please) a vigilante named DEKU.
So, DEKU is vigilante huh?
Based on the reports he got from the police, it sounds more like they can't capture this guy because of their own ineptitude. And to soothe their hurting butts and pride, they want to capture DEKU as proof that they're not completely incompetent.
But has this DEKU violated any crime? No. In fact, he delivers suspected criminals at the front of the precinct. Ugh. Katsuki doesn't really like this, but he desperately needs the money.
--------
Like every thing Katsuki does, he gives it his all. Only extras and half-ass jobs. So when he has been working for 8 hours straight and he feels that strain at the back of his neck, he packs up his stuff and puts on his trench coat.
He needs some fucking coffee. Maybe a change in scenery will help him jog his mind. He takes his keys from his counter, locks his detective office and then heads downstairs.
There's a coffee shop just beneath this place and it's one of the defining reasons why he chose to get this apartment as his main office.
Tsk. There are so many places where Katsuki can begin his investigation. But first, he needs his coffee before he tries to find this DEKU.
He swings open the coffee shop doors, the smell of fresh coffee welcomes him and that familiar voice of his favorite barista.
"Good afternoon, Kacchan!"
-----
Ahh, there he is. Izuku.
Cute as a pie. Freckled cheeks, green eyes. Katsuki wants to bite him everywhere.
He's been pining for this guy for ages. Ever since he moved here last year.
They chat a lot while Katsuki stands awkwardly on the counter, waiting for Izuku to make his drink. Even if it takes forever, Katsuki doesn't mind. He can't here all day and listen to Izuku and watch his scarred hands prepare his coffee (and also watch his butt, but that's for Katsuki to silently enjoy and remember when he's alone)
They have a lot in common. They banter forever. And the guy is definitely packing a lot of muscle underneath all of that sweater. He's sees his forearms once in a while whenever Izuku has to haul up some crates. He should ask Izuku if he wants to hand wrestle someday as an excuse to HOLD HIS HAND and see his muscles.
But Katsuki always chickens out when asking him out. Katsuki is busy and he knows that Izuku has a part time job in the evening. He's always busy at night!
And he has no idea what Izuku's preferences is. What if he's not even into dating guys? What if he's in a relationship - nah, can't be. With Katsuki astute observation skills, he would have known if Izuku is seeing someone.
"How was your day so far, detective?" Izuku asks him as he hands his coffee.
Well, my crops are watered, my life is flourishing, my heart is full all because you smiled at me today. IZUKU HAVE DINNER WITH ME YOU GORGEOUS STUPID CUTE NERD WITH BIG ARMS.
is what Katsuki would have said had he have the courage, but he's a big sack of anxiety and insecurity deep down. So he just grunts, "t'was fine."

From a writing perspective, tropes are one of the biggest ways an author can tell you something. Tropes are amazing and SHOULD be used and molded. But they can also just be used as that. A trope.
And bkdk uses a LOT of tropes, to the point where they straight up repeat them????? Specifically romantic tropes. And at that point it just isn’t subtext anymore, it’s text. In your face, text, telling you “these two have romantic feelings for each other”.
We’re gonna start with the most obvious: childhood friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, and rivals to lovers. They kinda fall under all three of these at different points in the series. And I find it important to point out just how *often* these two are put under the “childhood friends” label over everything else. Not rivals, friends, not anything like it. And whats even more interesting? No one, and I mean NO ONE, has ever called them friends. Ever. Because they aren’t friends and never were! They were *childhood* friends or they were *rivals*. And the show/manga makes it a point to always say childhood friends! This DIRECTLY separates the two labels!
Now enemies and rivals are kinda loose terms here, I will admit that. Because are they really either of those things? Were they ever those things?? Were they ever even friends??? Maybe when they were little. I feel like a better way to encapsulate it is opposites attract. Because they aren’t enemies but they do bump heads a lot, and they are rivals but they still support and help each other be better. In fact, their rivalry is often used as a way to make each other closer. So, opposites attract seems like the safest option.
“What does she see in him?” Is a pretty common trope and honestly its a little funny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It results in this hilarious scene, but there other scenes. Repeatedly, people view Katsuki as ugly in canon and TALK about how he’s not the nicest on the eyes, yet repeatedly Izuku is the ONLY one who’s sees things in him.
And there are so many more tropes!!! That’s the thing, this is no longer a mistake. It’s not “the author accidentally made the rivals have more chemistry than the love interest”, it’s actual writing decisions HE MADE to make his story fit a different narrative than we would normally see in shonen. Conscious writing decisions for two male characters. Katsuki is repeatedly shown to have more development, chemistry, and tropes than izuocha or anyone else in canon.
Bkdk canon.

BKDK RP request!
So I’ve been wanting to get back into roleplaying for a while, but I’ve never actually gone out and looked for an rp partner in the wild. So… I’m just gonna make a post here and hope for the best.
My current hyperfixation has been mha, more specifically bakudeku so that’s what I’m looking for (I’m open to other ships but this is specifically for bkdk). I like doing AUs mostly but I’m also down for canon compliant/slightly canon divergent plots. I have a lot of different plots in my head but I’m open to plotting and discussing, one of my favorite things is worldbuilding and plotting for rps, I also like just talking about headcanons and such, I've been known to make moodboards and playlists for just about anything because I'm insane and when I get into something, I get obsessed. I would really love to find someone who can match that energy, join me, be insane with me.
But, I do have AUs that I usually go for, that I have a lot of ideas for, or I'm just really interested in:
Any fantasy au, I eat that shit UP
Hybrid au, especially with a lot of worldbuilding to how a hybrid society would function have I mentioned before that I love worldbuilding?
Spiderman au
Quirkless hero support Izuku au, a classic and one I have so many thoughts for.
Omegaverse, this... but less focused on the rut/heat thing and more the weird intricacies and the implications of the au.
Prototype bkdk
These are just some of the AUs, but like I said I also like canon compliant plots and have ideas for those as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other than that here are some additional rules and requirements:
NO MINORS! I'm 19 and don't feel comfortable roleplaying with minors, even if there's nothing nsfw I'd just overall prefer it if you're 18+. That being said I'm not comfortable doing nsfw either, suggestive content is ok but nothing actually nsfw.
I write Deku mainly, I can write other characters for flavor, just so thing's don't feel too empty, but I'm looking for someone to who writes Bakugou specifically.
I write long winded, descriptive replies. My replies can range anywhere from 2 paragraphs (although I try not to do this so 2 paragraph replies aren't common) to well over the discord character limit (more common than I'd like to admit). I don't expect anyone to match me paragraph for paragraph, don't feel pressured to if you genuinely can't, but I'd like to find someone who can match that energy. I'd prefer anyone who does semi lit to advanced. In that same vein I'd like someone who can respond fairly often, but I understand that life happens so if you can't reply just lmk, take your time, this is a fun and casual rp request lol.
I'm audhd and dyslexic so sometimes I make a lot of mistakes or I miss things, just give me a gentle reminder if that happens or I take something out of context because of that. Please also use tone indicators when talking ooc.
I write in third person exclusively, first and second person makes me uncomfortable, so I would prefer to rp with people who also write in third person.
If I do or say anything that makes you uncomfortable please let me know right away! On top of that if you have any triggers that I should know about please lmk, I don't want to make anyone feel bad. And ofc I'll do the same ^^
If you ever want to start a new rp I'm absolutely down, just lmk and we can talk about it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone is interested in roleplaying just hmu in dms, be aware however I rp on discord only. If we vibe then I'll give my discord handle and we can continue on there! I may be a little awkward at first when it comes to new people. But once things get going I'll warm up more, I'm always down to chat and share thoughts/hcs/art/anything ooc as well so don't be shy!

I always love your analysis and I was kinda curious on your thoughts on a certain topic! We know when talking about black whip going out of control, Izuku trails off and doesn’t talk about what activated it. Do you think he’s *consciously* intentionally pushing down his feelings and beating around the bush, or moreso is literally oblivious to what the true cause is? I know us bkdks tend to assume he’s being dodgy but i recently saw someone point out how he seems to actually *forget* his trauma and now I’m wondering if he really is more clueless than we think (we as an audience get to see the pattern, but every other time he’s lost control because of katsuki OTHER than black whip has been a traumatic event)
Ooooo I love this question thank you for asking.
Since the day I saw the apology chapter, I always thought Izuku forgetting what Katsuki said to him in his sacrifice must be because of the trauma. However the blackwhip thing was a whole other scenario and I find myself asking, was that really traumatic in the same way? He lost control, he experienced a powerful flood of emotions, and then he had to bottle them up for safety’s sake. That certainly does sound a lot like the pattern of trauma. The only thing is, he doesn’t show any signs of forgetting the event, especially considering he keeps having flashbacks to Banjo’s words. So... idk. Your idea might actually be better summed up by the narration over Toga’s confession about him being oblivious to romantic feelings unless they’re spelled out. Perhaps that could extend to his own feelings as well.
This is somewhat of a tangent to your question, but I have been wondering what Izuku’s mastery of blackwhip implies about the state of his heart. That he has accepted his emotions? Constrained them? Is he even using its full potential? The symbolism remains unclear to me and it bugs me a lot. We know he absorbed Endeavor’s advice about parallel processes and that’s it.
Banjo clearly explained the task ahead of Izuku when he said "it’s okay to get mad. Rage can be the source.” Yet in all the training that follows, we never get to see Izuku take this into consideration at all. He focuses on restraining blackwhip completely and then slowly drawing it out. What I can guess from this is that he ignored the part of Banjo’s advice about anger and instead focused solely on control. Izuku doesn’t like his anger, and perhaps doesn’t want to accept it as a part of himself. For someone who sees themselves as deeply altruistic, anger is like a curse, a liability, a failure. I can guess this because it’s very reminiscent of him inadvertently mimicking even the parts of Katsuki he hates when he feels a drive to win. He claimed he couldn’t tell Katsuki about that either. Why?
The simplest explanation is that his anger triggers most strongly in tandem with his love for Katsuki, since blackwhip activated in response to Katsuki being insulted over a sensitive subject, and because Izuku’s image of victory is in Katsuki, explosive anger included.
But your question asks whether or not Izuku understands this and consciously chooses to avoid it, or if he’s oblivious. Honestly… I hope this doesn’t sound like a cop out, but I think it’s neither. Or, both? In a way? I think he is displaying avoidant behavior, but I want to present a more nuanced picture of what that could be like for him, internally. And I mention the whole anger thing because it’s a more obvious source of shame for him that’s in direct association with Katsuki, rather than say internationalized homophobia, which we haven’t necessarily seen evidence of. It could be that he simply doesn’t know how to express himself about this issue. When he trails off, feigns ignorance, etc, maybe he does so in response to a serious mental block that won’t allow him to tell the truth.
Anon, have you ever held onto a secret so monumental, so personal and so strong, that it physically felt too big to fit out of your mouth? Imagine spending so long pushing something down, you don’t know how to feel it anymore. Imagine wanting to pour your heart out to someone, but not being able to find the words because you can’t even bear to think about it long enough to do any real introspection. And then your habit of lying to compensate becomes so ingrained that it’s like a totally different person is speaking on your behalf, automatically.
I can very easily see how this could happen to Izuku as he has loved Katsuki his whole life, through all the pain and distance and misunderstandings. How else is a person supposed to cope with all that? This all could be the after-effects of a subtler, more constant trauma. Now Katsuki is finally truly open to him (post-apology), and he just doesn’t have the capacity to accept it, as much as he may want to. However that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to overcome. All it takes is the right push.

plz no hate also, don't justify, you could hardly change my opinion even if its wrong
Since i started shipping Kaishin i always restored to translated DJs and Fanart to feed it, whenever i thought of reading fanfic i simply felt repulsive, that it won't taste good, and boy was i right, i understood the reasons very clearly, but yesterday, due to accumulation of a few reasons , i caved and tried it , and now i need heaps of DJs and Fanart mouthwash to forget this taste.
no offense intended, the writing style of authors is actually super good, the plot is very entertaining, overall a good well written fic, but it just not my thing, simply because the western eyes(and i don't mean ppl living in the west, im talking abt the ideology itself, wherever they're from) and mine don't match, they don't see or understand the characters as i do, and same for me, i fail to see and understand most stuff they way they do, so simply, me and the anime fics, we can't mix, i can have some tolerance for stuff like bkdk , but a classic literally older than me DCMK is out of question, how they portray the characters and take them out of context, while its good and fun...its just not them so its pointless for me to read fics abt absolute strangers, i would rather go through my kaishin pins twice than read smth while i enjoy it, gives me a foul taste (i guess that's what alcohol drinking is like for people, yeah, its good that i don't and won't drink ever in my life)
also, if you don't know, i merely write for the sake of journaling, this post is not meant to criticize anyone, especially not the hard working authors, simply my pov that most won't agree on.
I am not trying to defend myself saying this, but i am merely stating how my mindset came to be, first, my childhood, pre-teen years, and the first quarter of my teens were spent watching Anime, and the rest of my teens was spent reading manga/hua/hwa and Danmeis , that's it, no friends, no social media, no way to understand how my peers from any part of the world thing, only how the Japanese, Chinese and sometimes Korean ''Characters" live, like and think, so ya, very very low tolerance, when i unfortunately started opening up to the "world" it was merely to look for more resources for a good read, my mindset was already set by then and i felt like an alien (still do, but meh that's me) among everyone else, and more often than not i feel super uncomfortable from a comment with a mindset that's just so foreign to me it feels sickening (im not exaggerating)
so ya, lgptq+ , most of the relationship 'cues', ideas of (in my weak pov seems extreme) individuality in romance ,etc etc, they are all things i am not very fond of, cuz my mind is attached to a more simple process, watching ppl be in love ,period.
oh ya and the concept of incent, which i find hilarious but that's just horrible of me, incent is wrong for two reasons, ethically, you can't marry your sibling because they're your sibling sharing the same blood of at least one of your parents and that is sooo wrong (im not too far gone to think on even such a thing) but speaking ethically , for me a sibling is diffrent from a COUSIN they don't share your blood, their blood is just closer to yours from a stranger, they are not the children of your own parents, so, i just find it pointless to be so hung up on it, i could marry a cousin and only discover they're my cousin after we've had kids and lives happy stable lives, should i just destroy all that and make my children live in agony cuz someone somewhere sometime decided that marrying the cousin is same as marrying an SIBLING and even giving it the same label? of course , another point ,which is actually, speaking abt cousins, more serious , is Genetically speaking you can't mix DNAs too similar because it increase the risk of genetic mutations and disabilities in offspring, but the risk is always there, so its *unadvised* at most to marry a cousin if you are planning to have kids, but that's it, and everyone is free to choose between marrying the one they want and increasing their chance of healthy children, so its absolutely *hilarious* for me to be so hung up on "incent" between 2 MALE COUSINS , like really, *where are you even coming from?* (and yes im talking abt what you have in mind , as i said, i started kaishin fanfics just yesterday which is apparently the worst possible timing since the whole M24 trailer fiasco or whatever it is that's bothering them and got swarmed with confusing tags that just made me lose my appetite and feel vaguely uncomfortable, and "what's the big deal?" confused)
ofc as a person opening up to the world the first thing i did was to try to fit in, it wasn't wholly unpleasant ofc, i got some of the dearest ships to my heart that sometimes support me post-breakdown, but i tried to think like others, only to discover its futile, i can guess how others would think , but im mostly unconvinced by it or don't feel like agreeing to it, and that just works to make it easy for me to gain enemies and unpleasant impressions, so i mostly lay off commenting my opinions since its as foreign to them as theirs are to me , and im not so free or sinister to make others feel unpleasant on purpose, ofc no one is perfect so i slip from time to time when my battery (i call it LXC battery of patience cuz that's what i think of portraying when im controlling myself from commenting and arguing, using LXC as a role model to extend the Battery's life) and as expected those slips catch fire , i also mostly use the method of burning letters, except i don't burn them , i have a very short memory span on most thing, so i write it, say i will post it later, and the when i see the draft i don't remember if i did post it or not , and it would be very stupid to post the same thing twice, also im not so attentive to open a site or an app specifically to check, i would rather spend that time reading
Most of the time i didn't understand why the "western" ppl make a big deal out of everything and are so hung up on realism , i still don't but i could get one thing, and ironically im the living proof of that one thing, that is, most people's mindset is affected by what they are exposed to, aka, what they read, see, or hear, so if something say like intentional harm like pushing people off the stairs and people always survive, if crazy troupe like that spiral into normality smh, and someone ALWAYS read it and always seeing it, them it won't be that hard to apply in real life, so the westerns are just looking out for others, or less selflessly, like every human, are trying to convince others of their opinion.
ofc in my case, which i don't know if its an exception or there are many others like me (again, i don't socialize) that help is absolutely unnecessary, since everything i read see or hear are for me strictly fictional, I won't fall in love with a minor as much as i won't fly off on a dragon, for me they're all fiction, love, itself , is something fictional i don't expect to see in the real world, that's why i love reading it the most, for me what i read is what can't be found in my reality like dragons, travelling to other worlds, falling in love at first sight, forbidden love etc, so its no surprise i feel unpleasant when some person out there try to stain my "world" with realism after i always painstakingly separated them anyways bye.

I never knew what to say about zsg because, well, there are a lot of aspects about it that don't align with my usual taste, despite its objective high quality. I mean, I'm a sfw fan 😂 That said, I'm always in awe that with your busy job, you continue to feed us so well. I'm busy too and only going yo get busier, so it's an inspiration, as longfics are what I prefer to write as well (though it doesn't come nearly as naturally, lol). And, you're right, zsg deserves to hear the love and admiration I have for it, so here goes.
To start with, the fic definitely has residence in my head, despite reading it nearly a year ago. There are scenes I still think about. I was talking about then with a friend just a week ago. Since I don't have time to read fic these days (cries), the most I can do is go back to old fics and reread my favorite scenes, and I do that with zsg, because there are such high quality, top tier moments. The "you're looking at me" "I never stopped" ??? That might be the pinnacle bkdk. I can't believe I've never seen that before in a bkdk fic? Or if it was there, it didn't hit as hard.
I know you're not so into the falling action part of a fic, but I loved the last bits with bkdk. When Baku realizes Deku's staying? Those moments they have of figuring things out are so good. And the provisional exam being inspired by Kamino was great. Really clever and a nice homage. And, of course, very nice that Deku could be a hero again.
Also, the Shinsou content is perf. I always love a side character having a big part in a ship fic and that shinbaku relationship is exactly why. (Similarly, I loved All Might and Aizawa helping Baku out.) That flashback scene where Deku calls Baku Kacchan? So good. And so smart as a flashback, because it would have been too much in the actual timeline, but where you fit it in the plot was really really clever. I also generally love a flashback--unpopular opinion, but I do.
Those were some of my biggest highlights! I hope my little disclaimer at the top isn't totally assholish 💀 I think you're just great and really admire your openness and the things you try to tackle in fics and your incredible output. I hope you're doing well <3
ahhh Anjum thank you so much for sending this!!! AHHH i'm sorry i complain on here so often i was so embarrassed i deleted the post lmao
gosh yeah especially when you read sfw stuff in general! i have this habit of writing REALLY detailed and explicit sex scenes 😳 what made you read it, in that case? (obviously you dont have to answer!)
god. every time i think about their devotion to one another i want to combust into flames. think for much LESS we had to work with when we were writing a few years ago?! the way horikoshi has developed katsuki into this passionate, level-headed, absolutely hopelessly committed to Izuku - literally never saw it coming. these two deserve peace in the end. they deserve to live a life on their own terms. they just DESERVE TO BE HAPPYYYY
urgh its Izuku's DREAM and of course horikoshi is setting him up to lose one for all, i think thats been his intention from the beginning, but his life is only starting!!! he's only 15!!! you're telling me he's going to risk his life and lose the only thing he's ever wanted?! i wonder if horikoshi used all might in his big-old mecha suit as a hint that deku would still be a hero, just using assist devices. at least i hope. this kid deserves a chance. (i dont know if you're caught up on the manga?? i'm kind of ranting lol)
adjfakldjflk;asjdlfjasdfj ANYWAY WHEN I TELL YOU THIS MADE MY DAYYYYYY adsjfaldjfkl argh you just made me so happy especially because its been a long time and i forget parts about it but TO HEAR THAT EVEN THE PARTS THAT FELT LIKE A STRUGGLE WERE STILL ENJOYABLE?! urgh i appreciate you so much thank you for taking time out of your day to reassure a complainy weirdo like me

So. Heads up, this is a little long. I went to a bit of a ramble, sorry in advance.
Today I thought I’d take a trip in the anti bkdk tag. Not to look for discourse or anything, just because I like to challenge my opinion and thoughts once in a while. Just because bkdk is my fav ship and lots of my mutuals like it doesn’t mean it’s the only one, or that everyone likes it. Obviously the tag wouldn’t exist if people did. And that’s totally fine. Different views are not only okay, they’re important. If everyone agreed on the same thing it would be boring.
But like... every time I go in there it always kinda seems the same...? It’s like 90% of the posts are basically just bk hate posts. And like, okay, that’s fine, if you really want to hate on a character, that’s your choice... but where’s the bkdk part of the post? Where’s the defence for anti the ship? It feels a lot like I’m banging my head repeatedly on the words abuser and bully and bad person etc etc etc. And yeah, bakugou did bully midoriya, but is that the only defence? If you really want to go back there, we need to establish some things first.
First, junior high, especially that last year, bkdk are around the age 13-14. They are in fact, kids, new to teenhood. And I didn’t think I’d even need to say this, but when you’re a kid you make a lot of mistakes? You do things you shouldn’t, say things you shouldn’t, have trouble communicating, and can be mean. Definitely doesn't excuse all of bakugou’s behaviour, but hormones, growing up, mistakes and peer pressure are all very real things. Yeah, a lot of it was his personality for a while, but he didn’t just wake up one day and go “ohohoho I choose to be an absolute jerk from now on!”. Yeah, he wasn’t a nice person. And he knows that. He acknowledges that. But if you go around slapping a bad person sticker on every person that has messed up and done something “bad”, you’re going to have not a single soul without a sticker. That’s just people and life.
I’m not excusing him. He did things that aren’t okay. Nothing he does will erase what he did and how he acted. But he is trying to make amends. Not fix, not erase, not forget. Amend. Big difference. He apologized, and yeah, it wasn’t a 5 paragraph long apology detailing every single wrong he committed, but you have to take a step back and realize how important of a step that was for him. Bakugou doesn’t apologize. Ever. But he did to Midoriya. Stood in front of their entire class, vulnerable and out in the open, and acknowledged that he was a jerk, that how he acted wasn’t okay, and that he was very sorry. That is huge for him! Yeah, a follow up will probably be needed but geez, even midoriya was shocked, because it was so raw. Then you know, the rest of that scene.
Then! The hate on bkdk’s. Listen. If you don’t like bkdk, that’s okay. If you prefer kiribaku, tododeku, iideku, izuchaco, whatever the ship is, props to you. Having your own likes and interests and also dislikes is just fine. But when you get to the point where you are threatening other people because of their ships, then it becomes an issue. When you create a post saying how you think that bkdk’s would be the kind of people that would defend an abuser in a real life relationship, you’re no longer participating in the fandom, you’re harassing people over fictional character pairings. Most of us like bkdk because we like the redemption, the growth, the character development. We like the fact that bkdk as a pairing, even platonic, encourage each other to become better, both in skills and as a person. Not by telling the other, or by force, just by being around each other. We’re not bkdk shippers because we enjoy abusive relationships. But even with this, it is still not okay to threaten other people over a single ship. No matter how you view it or interpret it, it is never okay to tell someone to go die over a ship. Otherwise, by your very own definition, you are becoming an “abuser” yourself. You’re becoming the very thing you’ve built your entire account on hating. You are hurting very real people over two very fictional ones. Which brings me to my final point.
Media is awesome. Being able to disappear into a whole other world inside a book, immersing yourself in fantasy and possibility, surrounding yourself with cool fictional characters is so much fun. But at the end of the day, you have to realize that while these stories and characters have touched your heart, they’re still fictional. They are tools, devices used by writers and creators to tell a story, send a message, each and every single one slightly different depending on the interpreter. How the authors utilize these tools is what we watch and enjoy. And as the audience, it is common for us to explore other possible outcomes or other uses for the tools. This has been happening for hundreds of years. But they’re still devices.
So when you throw a fit over some people exploring a different use for some tools that you don’t like, it is not the bkdk shippers that look bad, but you. It is not the bkdk shippers that look childish, but you. There is a line between having a different opinion and respecting others (notice how I said not agreeing, but respecting), and straight up harassing and threatening others just because they don’t have the same pov. Don’t cross that line. It is okay to hate a ship, but it is not okay to bully others because of it. Thank you.

It's funny that fandom complains that IzuOcha doesn't have develop but some of them ship Bakugou with Uraraka, two people that barely interact and if they do it's always about Midoriya. Besides, the ship screams self-insert where women can insert themself in Ochako because they want to be the sunshine girl with the bad boy that has a soft spot for her same happends with Bakugou and Kirishima. The worst it's that the same people complain about IzuOcha because she can't develop or her whole plot it's about her feeling for Izuku but then they ship her with Bakugou.
Besides, I don't know why bk and bkdk stan are so worried about Ochako's develpment or hate her because her plot is ruined for her feeling when Bakugou's plot is all about Midoriya and his rol focus on him too.
Its super ironic right?! Izuku and ochako have one of the best developed relationships in the story, something bkdk shippers can only dream about, not that they would ever admit that of course! And the best part about it is that ochakos character (unlike bakugous) can stand on her own, has a plot on her own that doesnt circle around her romantic feelings for izuku and has her own villain foil who serves as the anti thesis of ochakos character. Compare that to bakugou. His whole character and plot circles around izuku and izuku alone - and thats NOT a good thing, no matter what bkdk shippers want to believe - but for them the story is only about their ship anyway. And ironical exactly THAT was now confirmed in the latest released chapter with shigarAFO telling bakugou to his face: "you are NOTHING! The ONLY interesting thing about you is your relationship with izuku midoriya!" Ohhhh the humiliation bakugou must feel! Gets completly DESTROYED in just a few seconds and on top of that gets told that the only usefull thing about him is that he can be used as bait! BURN!!!
Its so hilarious hyporitical of bkdk shippers how they ship ochako with toga, a mentally unstable MASS MURDERER to get her out of the way for their own ship with the argumentation: "sHe dESerVeS bEtTer tHeN juSt tO Be dOWnGraDeD aS a loVe INtErEst fOr iZUkU!" just to do exactly THAT with bakugou! Downgrading him as nothing more then izukus love interest! Holy shit even bakugou deserves better then to be seen as nothing more then the mcs love interest! But bkdk are a bunch of big hypocrites, so you cant expect much of them!
Personally I dont have much of an opinion of kacchako shippers. Like you said its mostly a self insert ship, because people like the "bad boy gets the nice girl" trope or "nice girl turns the bad boy into a better person, because for some fucking reasons thats her job". The last one is very toxic in its own way and I hate it, but personally I dont really had bad experiences with kacchako shippers. They left me alone so far, so I dont really have a bad or good opinion of them. I just think ochako deserves WAY better then bakugou (everyone does) and both show zero interest in each other anyway! People mainly seem to ship them, because of their fight in the sport festival, but neither before or after they really interacted with each other and bakugou shows absolutely ZERO romantic interest in ANYONE anyway!
Ochako has her eyes set on izuku and the only reason why she hasnt told him yet about her feelings, is because she wants to concentrate on her hero carrier first and thats a GOOD THING! It shows that ochako is more then just a love interest. You cant say the same thing about bakugou, whos whole character centers around izuku and their rivality!
