i was looking back at my old knitting posts to check on a thing and like yeah i really did just rocket right up the knitting skill tree over the course of a few months. no wonder i'm convinced i can knit literally anything i've spent ten minutes reading and watching videos about.
my personal knitting trajectory is that i learned to knit at age 8, stopped knitting at age 16 or so, and did not knit anything more complex than circular knit legwarmers with mild shaping at that time (so i could make rectangles and tubes and slightly widen the tubes). (ok i also did one lace scarf for about four inches but it was very bad.) then i got back into it at the end of college, and my projects were lace cowl > multiple stranded colorwork hats > socks on dpns > elaborately cabled sweater (which i finished only the back and half a sleeve of, admittedly, and am now picking up again) > most of a beaded lace crescent shawl in the span of, like, five months. and then a bunch of other shit after that! i literally can just learn to knit whatever the fuck i want, that's just uncontroversially true. what a fantastic hobby

I'm currently sewing a dress & yesterday I realized that I've intentionally made virtually every aspect of the process more difficult (fabric is plaid that needs to be matched, keyhole back changed to invisible zipper, zipper then requires a facing be changed to a lining, added piping to the collar & hem, etc.). I've also decided to bang out a last-minute Xmas sweater that involves carrying 3 colors for most of the knitting. Lots of questions for past me.

Nothing worse than finally having enough yoke to try the sweater on and realizing ‘damn, this yarn feels fucking terrible’.
I’ll just wear a shirt under it and learn for next time cuz I already own enough yarn to finish the sweater lol

So the @secretlovesongsfest Discord Server is the place to be, and last night we accidentally spun the tale of Sunset Curve Retiring, ft Luke ‘no I’m never retiring’ Patterson, Alex settling down with his husband Willie, and Bobby Deciding He’s Going To Be A Hermit And Move To The Woods In Canada. Only Reggie says: Yes of course, and I’m coming with you. And we’re adopting a bunch of dogs.
Luke goes on Writing Retreats that are really just ‘visiting Bobby and Reggie and their ten dogs’. His next album has an amazing love song about a girl with beautiful brown eyes and soft curls and when asked in interviews who it’s about, he stares at the interview and says, honestly: Shania the Labradoodle.
The song he writes for Reggie and Bobby is way less romantic. When the same interviewer asks about that, Luke shrugs and says ‘Well I didn’t want to be too cheesy. Bobby’s not big on PDA and Reg likes keeping our relationship private.’
Not featured: the helipad next to Bobby’s Hermit Cabin, Billy Ray the chihuahua in a baby sling, Bobby’s vegetable garden, and Alex making gay and short jokes about Luke.
Yes of course eventually Alex and Willie also move into the Sunset Curve Cabin Commune. Willie took one step out of the chopper Bobby picked them up in, got swarmed by dogs, and told Alex he was never leaving.
