You should watch Eureka Seven
So there's this neat little show I watched before I turned 10 when I couldn't understand a goddamn thing, and it caused me to think about the cool aesthetics of giant robots flying around stylishly on boards as naturalistic trails flow behind them.
I rewatched the show recently with my lovely nesting partner, because I wanted to revisit its world, and I was offered so much more than I remembered. Yes, the show is absolutely what I just described in the previous paragraph/run-on sentence(fuck you this isn't a school assignment) but it's also SO MUCH MORE.
I'm not going to beat around the bush, there's a singular gif I can show people that usually convinces them to watch it with the added info that this isn't just a super highlighted moment, it's just what the show looks like:
Tumblr media
(side note: if you haven't seen this show in its entirety, do not, I repeat DO NOT search for gifs of it on this site, never have I ever seen such a dense wall of spoilers)
Still with me? I'd hope so after that display! Also, for non-mecha fans, PLEASE I am begging you to still give the show a chance, it's so worth it!
So we need to start off with this show's worldbuilding. The giant robots can wait, because first we have to address the most glaring thing: everyone seems to have access to these boards that seemingly allow them to levitate and travel in midair on these almost fluid-like trails. These are explained as Trappar Waves, and not much is explained about them early on. I'm going to keep my explanation brief, because it's way more satisfying to watch the mystery unravel through the course of the show.
Basically, the planet this takes place on is full of these waves, and that's one of the main things that everything relies on, and why we can see effectively airships that are just perpetually suspended in the air without need to refuel constantly. This is what allows them to stay up. Also the reason why we see characters with their nifty little boards. Oh yeah, the giant robots have those boards too.
That's the main thing I wanna address about the world of this show, because explaining the rest would genuinely spoil so much of the show, and the experience would be extremely reduced by me explaining. Just trust me, it's really good.
Now, the format of the show is actually masterfully done. The first arc involves the immaturity of the main character, and the format of the show reflects it heavily in the very slice of life format as our main character is enchanted with the conditions he's been put into. At this stage of the series, it's not very serious, and its stakes are pretty low.
As it progresses though, it eases you into a far more coherent overarching narrative in a way that feels really natural and well done. You'll never really "notice" the point at which "shit gets real" or anything, you'll just find yourself way more interested in the bigger picture of what's going on, because the show puts a larger focus on it.
There's a romance story in it too, and it's actually really well done, which is something I haven't really seen effectively done in a lot of action anime, but I think in this case it's because they don't really treat it like a "subplot." They do a really good job of tying it into the main story, and they make it feel pretty real as a romance, and by the end, the payoff is the most satisfying one I've seen of really any romance plot that isn't necessarily the actual main focus of a story. I genuinely feel like they could've conveyed the story they did without the romance plot, but something truly impactful would've been lost had they gone that route.
I think it's not unfair to compare this show to Neon Genesis Evangelion, but at the time, it would be doing both stories a serious disservice. Evangelion is a really effective exploration into nihilism and mental illness, but Eureka Seven feels like a direct response in the way it delivers its story. It feels like it did a Better Rebuild™ before the Rebuild movies even came out.(let it not be said that I don't like the Rebuild series, it's legitimately in my top ten.) Early on, they communicate a lot of the same themes, but then Eureka Seven diverges hard with how it explores the intricacies of interpersonal relations and how people will strive to do better and how people can genuinely be better to each other. I feel like the way it delivers that is genuinely way more effective than even the extremely cathartic conclusion to Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0.
Seriously though, if you're not interested in watching this show, I don't know how to convince you. It's truly a fantastic show, and it's honestly taken the spot of "favorite anime" in my book. I am no longer a Gundam fan, but an Eureka Seven fan who also likes Gundam. You're going to love this show, even if you're not into mecha anime.

Snippet - Sachertorte - Forward but Never Forget/XOXO
Tumblr media
The crew get a reporter intoxicated on more than Zaun's neon lights...
Forward, but Never Forget/XOXO
Snippet:
Dustin, blithely self-medicated on Janna-knew-what, was proof positive.
"Want some?" He proffered his joint. "They're passing 'em out at the Expo."
"They—what?"
Through pursed lips, Dustin blew out a misshapen ring. "Brightleaf, y'know. Free samples. It's a new strain. Supposed to keep the chest clear, make the lungs less congested. The benefits are pullomo—plomo—"
"Pulmonary?" you supplied.
"That's it! So what's your poison? Brightleaf? Z-Zap? Puffcap?"
"Thank you. But I'll pass."
"Puff-puff-pass?"
"Just pass."
It wasn't that you did not appreciate a good toke. You were a child of Piltover's golden age: the days of opium dens and cannabis clubs. But Zaun was not a place to be off one's head. Their tobacco was infamous for its potency. Also, you weren't sure you wanted to swap saliva with your unsavory-looking guide. You'd not had your shots, and you'd prefer not to catch an exotic strain of flu.
Not when the interview was less than twelve hours away.
"Your loss." Dustin threw a rubberband arm around your shoulders, and gave a squeeze. "Say, have you tried the sweets yet?"
"Sweets?"
"The sweet-shops at the Promenade. We've got a couple: Cray-Cray, Lollypop's, Mango-Splash. Best in town. The Li'l Miss goes to Lollypop's sometimes, after her gigs."
"The Li'l Miss?"
"You know. Jinx."
"Oh. Oh." You were relieved. For a moment, you'd feared being strongarmed into reviewing a strip-club. "I am told Zaun's patisseries are second-to-none."
"You can say that again!" A high-pitched cackle. "Hey, why don't we swing by a few? There's still time before the Expo. And Mister S, he won't mind. He wants you to take in the sights."
"Is the First Chancellor a fan of sweets, as well?"
"He's a fan of a lot of things. Sweet nothings. Sweet deals. Sweet cheeks." A wink. "Hey, have you tried our Sachertorte yet?"
"I—I cannot say I have."
"Wha-a-a-a-at? Lock, Ran, are you hearin' this?"
Lock was busy scraping the dregs from his bowl. Ran's reply was a laconic shrug. Their natural aptitude for indolence was beginning to strike you as the side-effect of a daily exposure to Dustin's ceaseless chatter.  You wondered at the circumstances that had thrust these individuals—each a walking stereotype of Zaunite vice—into the Chancellor's inner circle.
Then again, you suspected their skillsets were far more specialized than the vices they seemed to represent.
"That's a shame," Dustin was saying, shaking his head. "That's a damn shame. Hey, why don't we drop by some shops? The Rack's got the best Sachertorte in town."
"Pssssh." Lock wiped his mouth. "The Rack's for the kids. All sugar. No kick."
"Well, what about the Honeypot? Punchiest opera cakes in the business."
"Too punchy," Ran hummed. "Takes a week to come down."
"Then how about the Laughing Coffin? I'm tellin' ya. They've got the meanest rum-baba."
"Bossman gave it a thumbs-down. He said, and I quote, 'Ich würde meinen größten Feind nicht an dieses Dessert verfüttern.'"
"Damn. Guess there's a reason they're going out of business."
"I say we hit the Piglet's Squeal," Lock said. "They do a decent macaroon."
Dustin grimaced. "No way, man. Too frilly. You'll catch a dose of cooties before rush hour."
"How about the Sugarplum Fairy? Eclairs to die for. Even the Bit of Ghostberry goes nuts for ‘em."
"Eh. Maybe. Hey, what do you think, Goodie?"
You'd been listening dizzily to their debate, hoping for an interlude to extricate yourself.  Zaun's gastronomic scene was an entirely untapped market. Half the names dropped sounded, to your ears, like the opening lines of a particularly bawdy tavern song. The other half, however, were clearly establishments of repute.
Perhaps you could, in good faith, venture off-script to sample a few. After all, a journalist, if they wished to report the truth, must also live the truth.
In this case, you would eat it—and your own naivety—soon enough.
The Sugarplum Fairy was a glossy establishment, complete with a wrought-iron trellis of chem-nourished wisteria and an awning of glittering pink neon. As soon as you walked in, you were treated to a sensory assault: the aromatic waft of spun sugar, gingerbread baking, and a rich, fruity tang of liqueurs. The staff were a troupe of rainbow-aproned cuties. They wore striped stockings and frou-frou skirts. Their heads were topped by tiny chef's hats; their faces painted like dolls. They were all dimpling smiles, and spoke a Zaunite dialect so rapid it might have been the language of the pixies themselves.
Their shop was, you were told, a favorite haunt of Jinx. You could imagine the blue-haired firecracker skipping in, then sauntering out, leaving a trail of candy hearts and sugar-spun dreams in her wake.
You were also told that the First Chancellor patronized the shop once a year.
"It's true," a server gushed, her cheeks fetchingly a-glow. "Jinx enlisted our services to bake his fortieth birthday cake! He had a slice—oh, it was such an honor—and so the tradition began!"
"Tradition?"
"Every year, on the Day of Ash, he orders a special cake!"
"What kind of cake?"
"Plain bundt. No decoration. No icing. No candles."
"Whatever for?"
"Who can say?" She giggled. "Some say he's paying his respects to the fallen. Some say he's commemorating the days of rationing, when flour was as precious as gold. Some say he's simply a plain-Jane fellow at heart. Whatever the case, we're honored to be his purveyors. He tips very well."
Curiousor and curiouser, you thought.
The larger-than-life persona you'd collated from reports clashed with glimpses of this quieter, more private man.  Perhaps his proclivity for austerity was the legacy of a childhood spent in the Sumps? Perhaps his taste for the simpler things reflected a deeper sense of humility? Perhaps it was a reminder of his roots, and a pledge to never forget them?
Or, perhaps, he simply enjoyed a good bundt cake.
The Sugarplum Fairy were as generous as their reputed patron. Each sampling was on the house. Their confectionary creations were a symphony of sugar and spice. Piltover has always prided itself on its sophisticated palate. Our desserts are inspired by the classics: soufflés, angelcakes, jam tarts. Zaun, conversely, was an untamed frontier: every flavor from the far-flung corners of Runeterra was distilled into a pot of bubbling sugar and set to simmer. The result was an extravaganza of culinary hybrids: Nazumah honey drizzled over Zhyunian strawberries; Bilgewater rum soaked into Bahrl's black-bean cakes; Demacian almond paste blended with spongy, melt-in-the-mouth Noxian pears.
Each mouthful was a journey across Zaun's variegated landscape. Some melted like liquid bliss on the tongue. Others exploded across the palate in a joyous expletive. By the end, your senses were reeling.
Then came the coup-de-grace.
The servers brought in four slices of decadently-rich double chocolate cake. The first layer was a dark fudgy delight; the second a velvety-smooth ganache; the third, a creamy milk chocolate mousse. The base was a hazelnut praline with a sprinkling of chopped pecans. Topped off with a swirl of vanilla cream and a dusting of icing sugar, the cake was as gorgeous as it was sinful.
"On the house," the servers cooed.
Ran's eyes lit up like an excited child. Lock rubbed his massive hands together. Dustin danced from foot to foot. Their effusive glee was contagious. In retrospect, you ought to have realized: there were a few too many winks and nudges. A pitch too high, a skip too fast, in their voices. A sense of something secret, something scandalous, afoot.
But you, babe in the woods, were too entranced by the sugar-coated charm. Too dazzled by the culinary wizardry.
Too stupid to spot the trap.
Four golden forks were presented. You each drove one into a glistening chocolate wedge and stuffed it in your mouths. Ran's eyes were closed. Dustin's head swayed back and forth on a gyre of glee. Lock grinned from ear-to-ear as he chewed.  Like them, you could only marvel at the skill that had gone into making the perfect bite: the smoothness of the chocolate, the light crunch of the nuts, the airiness of the whipped cream.
This cake slid down your gullet with a sensation that made your shiver. It felt nearly lubricious. It felt—wicked.
"Merciful Janna," you sighed. "What is this?"
"The Sachertorte," they chorused.
"I've never tasted anything like it."
"You wouldn't." The server tittered. "It's a secret recipe. Passed down for generations. All I can say is: it's got a little bit of this and a little bit of that."
"This, and that, what?"
"Oh, you know." She batted her eyelashes. "A pinch of sugar, a dollop of honey, a dash of spice..."
"And?"
She put a finger to her lips. "And everything that makes Zaun oh-so-nice."
The edges of the shop began to ripple. Your head grew light. Butterflies—silky soft butterflies—danced in the pit of your belly. The sensation spread, in slow-motion, through every extremity, down to the tips of your fingers, up to the roots of your hair. You couldn't help but giggle. This was the feeling. The one you'd been chasing. The one you'd been after, since the days of youth, when you'd snuck your first taste of illicit fruit.
The euphoria. The bliss. The freedom.
In another minute, the body-stone was in full effect.
A word of advice, fair reader. Zaun's desserts are as deadly as its dead-ends.
To requote their favorite aphorism:
"Look out for yourself."

Hello🐹Now that is near the end of the year, it's time for the personal top-5 list of my builds and CCs that I’m most proud of😤also a little bit of self-promotion…_(:з」∠)_
This year I did 22 builds (a little bit more than last year...xD) Last year I said I'd hope to build Mass Effect Normandy, Shepard’s apartment, a high school fit for the Cyberpunk 2077 world...but none of that happened..._(:з」∠)_ Well I'd hope again I'll be able to build those this year xD
Anyway…to the list! ⬇️⬇️⬇️
5. Komorebi Thrift and Bubble Tea Store🎦|| This year I tried to create a No-CC build every month, and honestly I'm quite surprised how much stuff sims 4 have (of course debug items included...xD). Interestingly, the thing I love most with this build is the vending machine at the entrance..._(:з」∠)_
Tumblr media
4. Nomad Campsite🎦|| I had a lot a lot of fun building this. This turns out better than I imagined ( •̀ ω •́ )✧ Only thing I wished I could've done is make those tent a "real room" so electronics inside won't break..._(:з」∠)_
Tumblr media
3. Waterfront Nightclub🎦|| I really really love those catwalks above the dance floor, it added so many potential to storytelling ( •̀ ω •́ )✧ This is also one of the very few builds that I'm not using in my game-play save...instead it's for you guys hehe🧡
Tumblr media
2. Lestat’s Apartment🎦|| I love vampires and I love cyberpunk, this is one of my dream apartments xD The way the showcase video is made is also one of my favorites ( •̀ ω •́ )✧
Tumblr media
1. Abandoned Subway Strip Club🎦|| I've build like 4~5 strip clubs now and honestly this is my favorite one ( •̀ ω •́ )✧ I just wish I had more space to really build the subway parts with more abandoned tunnels...
Tumblr media
To the CC List! ⬇️⬇️⬇️
I know I didn't make much CCs this year...but somehow it's still kinda hard to pick a favorite...I like them all xD
5. Heart Shape Animated Neon Sign || Seriously huge thanks to Syboulette for her patience and guidance🧡🧡I never thought I'd be able to make animated stuffs like this \(≧∇≦)/ And also, check out this 🔞18+ animated neon hehe Animated Phallus Sign
Tumblr media
4. Miniature Space Hamster Set || When the poll results came out, I was kinda disappointed...but then I thought:😤I'll do it myself! And OMG I'm really not good at making build-mode items xD I'm also so glad that Sims 4 Studio added the function to mod stairs and fences just in time for the project ( •̀ ω •́ )✧
Tumblr media
3. City Living Cyberpunk Food Stall || I need to make more of these ( •̀ ω •́ )✧ xD
Tumblr media
2. Ashtray with Animated Smoke || My first ts4.script object...I feel so proud of myself xD...Python is weird..._(:з」∠)_

Towing The Line ~Casey Novak x Elizabeth Donnelly (Charlie Angst)
Tumblr media
Summary— Set when Casey was with Charlie (her schizophrenic ex), a little fic of how Casey finally comes to terms with Charlie and how there are better fish in the sea (like Liz).
Mommy… Master List
Requests & Prompt-List
Warnings: angst, physical abuse, implied anxiety attacks, lots and lots of angst, crying, reckless actions, freezing cold, overthinking, happy fluffy ending (sort of), Liz comes to the rescue, etc.
Enjoy (;
Casey’s heart raced as she barrelled out into the night, the pouring rain slamming the door behind her. It hadn’t even been more than two hours since she had come home, she hadn’t even gotten the chance to change out of her work clothes. One more second with Charlie and Casey swore she would have combusted. The young woman’s heels clacked along the wet pavement as she fought her way through the downpour.
Realizing just how cold and rainy it was, Casey curled her arms into her chest, shivering as she walked towards the one place she could think of. She had met Charlie three years ago and had really hit it off, eventually moving in together in less than a year. Casey’s mind spiraled as she desperately tried to understand how things had gotten so bad so fast. Placing her gaze to the horizon, the young woman saw the next stop light crossing in the near distance, now speeding up her swift walk in order to get one step closer to her intended goal.
Making it to the end of the block, Casey’s outstretched hand barely hit the crosswalk button, the imbalance of one arm out making her stumble forward slightly. One small stumble was all it seemed to take with her and Charlie for things to go downhill so quickly. I mean she’d yelled before, but she had never hit me. Not before tonight. Casey was violently pulled out of her thoughts by a driver honking their horn to tell her that the light was green for her to cross, and cross she did.
She was now effectively soaked, wading through the wet streets, Casey only picked up her pace even more. At first, things with Charlie seemed to be a dream, perfect weekends and late nights together, but soon those late nights and long weekends turned into yelling fits and tantrums. The blonde sighed in unrest, she knew that Charlie couldn’t help it. It was an illness. But did that excuse her behavior? Casey began to feel every bead of water that ran down her trembling state as she continued to tread through the downpour.
Time started to fade in and out as the young woman traipsed through five more stoplight crossings, encountering not very many people, as it was way past 3am and thundering like no tomorrow. When Casey had finally caught onto the patterns in Charlie’s behavior (a year into living together), she tried to convince the other woman to get help, but to no avail, she would not hear of support of any kind. A tear escaped Casey’s left eye, joining one of the many droplets on her person, as her mind reeled and replayed the entirety of the last two years. Even though it was late, the city’s bright, neon lights still buzzed as the blonde pulled her coat tighter around her freezing figure and could no longer hold back the floods of tears erupting from her as she sped along the sidewalk.
With her mind on anything but the path in front of her, Casey barely noticed as her right heel got caught in one of the cracks in the pavement, launching the woman forward and off balance. The crux of it all happened when Charlie got so mad, so worked up, that she had not only yelled and berated her partner, but she had also thrown things at her and hit her for the first time. Why hadn’t Charlie just gotten help? This is all my fault. If I had simply been better, been a better partner, a better caretaker… Casey’s mind was swimming as her body tumbled to the ground and her head hit the hard pavement with a crack!.
The young blonde gripped her throbbing head in the pouring rain, as she stumbled to get her bearings once more. The determination on Charlie’s face after she’d thrown that punch was singed into Casey’s memory, and she was sure that the bruise it would leave would be just as memorable. Her mind was a stranger to her now, betraying her: All she could think about was how she had messed up. That she was the failure. That it was her fault. As more tears flowed out from her eyes, she managed to get back on her feet with a quivering lip and a broken spirit.
Now with aching limbs, Casey stammered her way left and down the final street, her core shivering from the intense chill of the relentless night. She remembered wanting to just burst into tears right there in front of Charlie, but instead instinct took over and before she knew it, she was grabbing her coat and she was out the door. The blonde’s heart was pounding in her head, her thoughts had become a broken record, and she wondered if this was her destiny, living a life for others at the cost of her own. With one final push, Casey forced herself up the brownstone steps, knocked on the tall, lavish door, and finally collapsed on the doorstep, soaking the ground with the weight that she was carrying.
The door swung open moments later and a warmth drifted towards her bones, towards her soul. But her eyes were defeated, closing against her will. Her mind shutting down against her will. The last thing Casey saw was the outline of the older woman, her mentor, sweeping down and taking the young blonde’s frail body into her arms.
“Dear God Casey…” Elizabeth murmured concerningly, “What were you thinking…??”
But Casey couldn’t respond. Nor did Liz expect the young woman to. She simply carried Casey inside the expansive brownstone, closing the door behind her, and finally pulling Casey’s ice cold body into the warmth of safety.

Blog 8 (week 9) - Fireflies; I just think they're neat
Tumblr media
Bioluminescence is one of the most incredible phenomena on the planet. Before humans invented electricity and lightbulbs in the early 1800s, the only thing we knew that could produce light was fire and stars…and life.
As humans we like to think of ourselves as quite advanced and intelligent as we have mastered how to light up the dark - fire allowed us to find safety from predators at night when we were most vulnerable and allowed us to work even after the sun had gone down. But we aren’t special, so many species were making their own light long before we ever tried.
If you’ve read my old post on art and nature you’ll remember one reason I am very fond of fireflies is because of a chance encounter with a massive population during field work; but fireflies have always been near and dear to my heart - growing up in rural Canada, there's no shortage of time to waste and bugs to catch and fireflies where the first insect I ever really took the time to observe up close as a kid.
Bioluminescence is incredible for a lot of reasons, one being it is almost perfectly efficient at using energy (Branham, 2005). Fireflies are tiny! They don’t have a lot of material and energy to waste so their light needs to be as cost effective as possible. If you’ve ever touched a lightbulb that’s been on for a long time it's hot! But fireflies don’t waste any light energy as heat - both for their own safety and to save precious calories.
For glow-worms (larval fireflies) flashing lights are a warning to predators - a giant neon sign saying “HEY! I TASTE REALLY BAD!” (and they do, so if a bird eats the glowing worm once, it's unlikely to want to do it again). Adult fireflies have unique flash patterns for their species and use their light to attract a mate (I’ll save you my attempts at flashing jokes, you’re welcome) (Branham, 2005). I’ve you’ve ever taken a date on a romantic night out to look at the stars, are you and the firefly really that different?
So how does it work? Well bioluminesce happens through a complicated looking chemical reaction like this:
Tumblr media
(Navizet et al. 2011)
It looks science-y and difficult but at its core ATP is the same molecule that your body uses when it needs energy. When you eat, the energy from your food attaches a phosphate “P” onto the molecule and then you rip the phosphorus off to use that energy when and where you need it! When the P is ripped off to do biofluorescence the energy is used to power a reaction between magnesium or calcium, oxygen and a chemical the fireflies produce called luciferin that produces light!
As pollen and nectar foragers- they are also pollinators hard at work even after everyone else is asleep. So thank a firefly for more than just their incredible light! I think it's always good to remember that as separate and exceptional from nature we may consider ourselves to be as humans - most of our technology is something nature did first and really - we’re not so different from the rest of the animals we share a planet with.
Branham, M. (2005, September 5). How and why do Fireflies Light up?. Scientific American.
Navizet I, Liu YJ, Ferré N, Roca-Sanjuán D, Lindh R. The chemistry of bioluminescence: an analysis of chemical functionalities. Chemphyschem. 2011 Dec 9;12(17):3064-76. doi: 10.1002/cphc.201100504. Epub 2011 Oct 13. PMID: 21997887.

Like Water For His Fire
Summary: When Ram goes MIA you get nervous... but he's got a very good explanation and you can't really stay mad at him
Pairing: modern AU Ramaraju x fem!reader
Category: smut (NSFW, 18+, MDNI)
TW/CW: brief mention of anxiety, mentions of marking, kissing, unprotected penetrative sex
Word Count: 2k
Tumblr media
7:56.
The sunset paints the sky orange red and from the bedroom window you can see its reflection on the surface of the nearby lake, as the evening breeze raises silvery ripples on the water. Adjusting the strap of Ram’s tank top on your shoulder you blow a strand of hair off your face then check your phone for what feels like the hundredth time: no texts. Zero missed calls.
“He’s fine, he’s fine,” you repeat under your breath.
You sit on the coverlet and hug his pillow. There’s usually something soothing about putting on his clothes or smelling his perfume - today, however, neither his old top nor the faint traces of his sandalwood and orange peel aftershave on the pillowcase prove to be very effective at keeping your anxiety under control.
You switch to a full alert state when you hear the entry door opening, followed by heavy footsteps. Seconds later Ram stands in front of you looking exhausted, his sleeves rolled up and the first buttons of his shirt undone, and collapses on his side of the bed.
“What happened? Are you okay?” you ask, still a bit nervous.
He nods in silent assent.
“I tried to call you, why did you turn off your phone?” you ask again and he fumbles in his pocket to hold up the answer, shaped like an intricate spider web of cracks across the black screen.
“I’m getting in the car and this idiot does a swan dive into a puddle,” he explains, “fifteen minutes later I’m stuck in traffic in Madeenaguda. Damn road works!”
It takes a little bit longer than usual for your heart to stop pounding in your stomach and ears. He’s been late in the past but an hour of radio silence forced you to consider all sorts of horrible scenarios, and you need to clear your mind of their negative influence.
“In hindsight… not the best route choice,” he adds, noticing you’re being too quiet. “I didn’t mean to scare you, I’m sorry.”
You shrug: during off-peak hours the NH 65 is the fastest way back, meaning he was trying to come home as soon as he could. And it’s not his fault his phone died on him. “You know me, I worry too much.”
You also care a lot about him, which is why he doesn’t need to hear you live in constant fear of being contacted by the notification officer of his department - a possibility he’s even less likely to discuss than you are.
“Are we good?” he replies, lowering his thick lashes and giving you an innocent doe-eyed stare.
You can see where this is going: the simple thought of it erases all the previous distress and makes you weak at the knees. You throw the pillow at him, practicing your best impression of a seductive pout. “Mister, you’re the Police Guy… why don’t you figure it out?!”
Ram props himself up on one elbow so he can tuck a lock of hair behind your ear. He brushes his thumb across your lower lip, his personal way of telling you he gathered all the evidence that the mere sight of his forearms always lights you up like a neon sign powered by libido. You’re not mad at him - you’re horny for him.
Cheeky bastard.
Needless to say, his shirt has to go; you unfasten the entire row of buttons in a heartbeat and help him take it off. ‘Mouthwatering’ is the word to describe his bare chest, and how on earth does he manage to still look steaming hot after spending a full day at work and a ridiculous amount of time in his car is beyond you.
You nibble on his earlobe before you lick him below the jaw, descending along his Adam’s apple, the muscles of his neck and the dimple between the collarbones.
You could spend the whole evening teasing his nipples, forced to contain the urge to sink your teeth into his skin because he’s so sensitive he would scream in pain if you bit him; his petite buds harden at the lightest touch so you circle the areolas with the tip of your tongue and suck delicately, twirling a few dark hairs on his navel around your fingers.
“I’m happy you’re here,” you whisper.
His palm caresses your nape, then his mouth reaches yours and you both engage in a playful competition for dominance: now that he’s in your arms you only want to hold him tight and tell him everything’s alright, but he’s impetuous and clings to you as if you’re pure spring water, bound to tame the fire raging inside of him.
There’s no doubt he figured out ages ago the main reason why you wear his clothes or hug his pillow if he’s away: you crave his body, his presence, his weight on top of you, and it isn’t just a matter of lust. He’s not used to be open and vocal about his feelings, nevertheless he’s proven multiple times he’s the kind of man who looks out for the important people in his life and you’re willing to do the same for him; you’ve become each other’s fulfillment of a mutual request for affection and the many positive aspects of your physical relationship are a reflection of a deeper bond.
It’s Ram who wins in the end and traps you under him. He doesn’t bother to take the old tank top off and lifts the hem up to reach your soft belly; once he glides past your mound of Venus you squirm in anticipation, almost hitting him in the chin.
He smirks and you’re tempted to slap the living hell out of him: being so fuckable should be declared illegal.
“Don’t make me kick you for real,” you joke, and Ram smiles again.
Without breaking eye contact he puts both his hands on your hips and rolls down your panties while you lift your tailbone to help him; he pinches your left ankle and lifts your foot, placing your leg on his shoulder.
Reality fades in a blurry ensemble of the last rays of sunset behind the clouds, outside the window, and the hypnotic white noise coming from the a/c unit as you let your fingers run through his hair. Having it ruffled when he’s going down on you is a major turn on for him and you’re dying to please him in return, since you’ve never met another man who was this passionate about the idea of eating you out; he’s also into being praised as a reward for his dedication and you’re happy to oblige, cooing. “You’re so good at this, pandu.”
Ram glances at you, mesmerized. The gentle strokes of his lips grow more and more intense, then he starts to flicker his tongue at such a fast pace that your ragged breath turns into whimpers, to which he replies with low, throaty growls.
“I can’t get enough of you,” he hums, his head still buried between your thighs and his luscious beard, sprinkled with a little gray, rubbing so well on your clit.
You grab a big chunk of his hair at the roots and tug to draw his attention, careful not to hurt him. In your private system of non verbal communication it’s a signal to stop, so he rises to his knees and leans forward for a kiss. You love to taste your ‘sweet nectar’ (as it was referred to in many of the romance novels you read as a teenager) on his mouth; your adult consciousness knows it’s salty, tangy and it’s got a hint of musk to it - still, it’s you and he always enjoys it like you’re a delicious treat.
You also know another part of him is hungry for you, so you make him lay on his back to undo his trousers and pull them down, together with his underwear. He’s hard and impatient, aching to have you wrapped around him. Half of you wants to put you both out of your misery, the other half is determined to take full advantage of your position: you steady yourself on the headboard and straddle him, but first you tuck his leaking cock against his stomach.
“I’ve been thinking about you all day,” you mumble as you slowly buck your hips, moving up and down his length.
This is plain torture for Ram and he clasps his hands at the old tank top, squeezing like a schoolboy who’s just discovered the amazing, silky roundness of your breasts. He’s adorable when his self-control begins to falter and soon his deep groans make you so wet it hurts.
“Jaanu…” he whines, desperate for release.
Using the headboard to keep your balance you guide him to the right spot before you lower yourself onto him. It’s your turn to fondle his chest and play with the dark trail of fuzz blossoming on his sternum and plunging to his groin; every time you separate you can’t stand to be apart and it’s not long before you grind on him to feel his coarse hair tickle your sensitive skin.
You look at him, his beautiful eyes closed and his teeth biting on his lips. He’s holding you so tight by the waist you’re sure he’ll leave a couple of marks and they’re all signs he’s trying to hold back. “I-I’m–”
“Do it,” you cut him off while you pick up your speed.
Ram throws his head backwards and it’s a sight to behold: his usual, brooding self disappears and all that’s visible on his face is peace and content, even if it lasts for a few seconds. You don’t stop rocking your hips until a familiar warmth flows inside of you, and moments later he wraps his hand around the back of your neck to pull you close.
He lifts his knees to dig his feet into the mattress and starts thrusting, set on a mission to give you one of the best orgasms of your life; he drinks the pure pleasure you’re pouring into his mouth with your loud moans, which he eagerly accepts as an incentive to pound you harder and faster.
“I want to make you come,” he mutters on your lips.
The power he has over you is unexplainable: his voice is what sends you over the edge in the end, gasping for air when a powerful jolt of ecstasy hits you and the tension leaving your body almost causes you to collapse on top of him. In fact you flop on your side, breathless and drained of the energy required to pass for a living and functioning human being; your brain is still engaged in the aftermath of the Big O and the single detail you’re able to process is one of your legs, resting across his lap.
Ram snaps out of the post-coital stupor first, in time to pick his shirt off the floor and help you clean your inner thighs - saving you both the trouble of dealing with a complete mess later. The pensive frown is back and you wipe away the shiny trickle of sweat running down his temple, but he’s so focused on what he’s doing he doesn’t seem to notice.
Once he’s finished cleaning himself up he fixes his trousers in a hurry throwing the shirt back on the floor to snuggle against you, and you wrap your arms around his shoulders to trace the outline of his muscles using your fingertips.
“Excuse me… what?!” you laugh, since he’s got his face pressed on your bosom and the words come out muffled if he speaks.
“I think I love you, bangaaram,” he repeats, tilting his head up.
Your heart skips a beat.
He looks at you with his brooding expression again, so you find yourself lost in his dark, soulful eyes for the longest instant. Then you cup his face in your hands and rub your nose against his, kissing him so lightly that your touch is like April rain on his mouth.
“I love you too, Ram.”

Evangelion: You Can (Not) Marathon — (Part 3)
Neon Genesis Evangelion, “Episode 3: The Phone That Never Rings/A transfer”
Tumblr media
Continuing my Evangelion re-watch marathon with NGE, "Episode 3: The Phone That Never Rings/A transfer"! For my thoughts on the previous episode, click the link to the post below:
With that out of the way, let's dig in!
I can’t help but be intrigued by the way Ritsuko describes the umbilical cable as being derived from their current limitations with the Evangelion technology (i.e. without the cord feeding it a continuous stream of electricity the EVA can only operate at 1 minute on its emergency built-in battery and 5 minutes in “minimal activity-gain mode”). Knowing what I know comes later in Episode 19 when Unit-01 ingests the S² Engine from the 14th Angel, Zeurel, I wonder whether or not the limited battery supply was an intentional design-flaw on both NERV and SEELE’s part in order to prevent an Evangelion from achieving a level of power equivalent to God? Or is it a bit of both since NERV’s second branch in the US later tries and fails to duplicate the S² Engine into EVA Unit-04, and SEELE later perfects the S² technology with their Mass Production Evangelions in The End of Evangelion? It just makes you wonder…
Huh… Ritsuko’s observation about Shinji returning to the EVA after his traumatic experience intially piloting it in the previous episode is very interesting and helps reveal some important elements about Shinji’s character pretty early on! Namely, the idea that Shinji “simply does what he’s told to do, and that it’s simply his way of getting through life.”
Essentially Shinji’s self-esteem is so low that he doesn’t even bother to think for or take care of himself, and instead relies solely on the wishes and commands of other people in order to get by in life. It shows that Shinji hates himself to the point that he doesn’t trust his own ability to make decisions for himself, and seeks external validation by pleasing others whether it be his father Gendo, his old sensei, or the other NERV officials like Misato and Ritsuko.
As a personal aside, this is an aspect of Shinji’s characterization that I personally can’t help but somewhat relate to since as an Autistic person who also struggles with obsessive compulsive disorder, I sometimes easily doubt my own sense of judgement, and can become overly dependent upon the advice and reassurance of friends & family in order to get by in life. Such over-reliance can become incredibly monotonous and leave you feeling empty and unfulfilled in life at times, which is effectively conveyed through Shinji’s repetition of the lines, “Position the target in the center then pull the switch,” (Spike Spencer’s dreary delivery here perfectly captures said-feelings of sense of emptiness).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nice! Our first official reference to the "Hedgehog’s Dilemma," which is a central reoccurring thematic motif for not just Shinji, but several other characters in NGE! For those who aren't aware, the Hedgehog's Dilemma is a metaphor about the challenges of human intimacy which was originally conceived by Arthur Schopenhauer in his 1851 book Parerga and Paralipomena before it was later adopted as a psychological theory by our old pal Sigmund Freud!
In particular, this passage from Volume II, Chapter XXXI, Section 396 of Parega and Paralipomena reads: "A number of porcupines huddled together for warmth on a cold day in winter; but, as they began to prick one another with their quills, they were obliged to disperse. However the cold drove them together again, when just the same thing happened. At last, after many turns of huddling and dispersing, they discovered that they would be best off by remaining at a little distance from one another. In the same way the need of society drives the human porcupines together, only to be mutually repelled by the many prickly and disagreeable qualities of their nature. The moderate distance which they at last discover to be the only tolerable condition of intercourse, is the code of politeness and fine manners; and those who transgress it are roughly told—in the English phrase—to keep their distance. By this arrangement the mutual need of warmth is only very moderately satisfied; but then people do not get pricked. A man who has some heat in himself prefers to remain outside, where he will neither prick other people nor get pricked himself."
In essence, the Hedgehog's Dilemma argues that humans cannot experience love without simultaneously suffering pain, which consequently results in weak relationships and self-imposed isolation.
Based on Misato’s reactions during her phone conversation with Ritsuko where the latter describes the Hedgehog's Dilemma in relation to Shinji's depressive behavior, I get the impression that this is actually Misato’s first time ever hearing about the concept.
Also, when Misato states that Shinji will have to simply outgrow emotionally withdrawing himself from his peers to avoid being hurt since part of growing up is learning to interact with others whilst distancing himself from pain, it feels heavily reflective of Misato’s own life experiences of becoming a lot more outgoing and carefree in public as an adult after spending half her childhood catatonic after being traumatized by Second Impact. While Misato herself is also a victim of the Hedgehog’s Dilemma, she is approaches the conflict a lot differently as an adult in contrast to Shinji who’s still a teenager.
Also also, I love the juxtaposition of Shinji glancing at the injured Rei in the classroom just as Misato provides her voice over of, “Learning to interact with others while distancing himself from pain.”
A brilliant bit of visual storytelling and framing there on Anno’s part!

A few notes about the introduction to Shinji’s classmates Kensuke Aida, Hikari Horaki, & Toji Suzuhara:
-1) Kensuke’s voice acting is hilariously bad in the original ADV dub as he sounds way too old and nasally to be a 14-year-old kid (whilst simultaneously being overly high-pitched). And from what little I’ve seen of the Netflix re-dub, apparently Kensuke’s English voice also sucks in that version as well (I guess Kensuke suffering from crappy voice acting is simply just a rule of thumb no matter which English dub of EVA you decide watch; lol!). -2) I love the subtle foreshadowing of Hikari’s closeted romantic feelings towards Toji here as she immediately reprimands Kensuke for failing to deliver the classwork to Toji after he was absent for several days due to his younger sister being hospitalized in the first Evangelion/Angel battle. -3) I honestly don’t mind Toji’s voice acting as much as I do Kensuke’s (even though his psuedo-Brooklyn accent can be a bit obnoxious at times...). While Toji also has a fairly deep voice, at least his is more in line with the character’s general archetype of being the tough-kid/jock. Also, apparently in the otherwise inferior Netflix Redub he was voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch of Bleach and Trigun fame! That's awesome!
So… the teacher’s exposition about the Second Impact is only partially correct. While the effects of the disaster like Antarctica’s destruction, the rising ocean levels, and the destruction of half of Earth’s population are indeed all true, the idea that it was caused by a meteor is absolute bullcrap. A fake version of the events to hide the true cause of the near-apocalypse to the general public.
And the fact that this teacher bears somewhat of a resemblance to SEELE’s leader Keel Lorenz, I can’t help but feel a tad suspicious of this guy as he shares this false narrative of the event…
Also, fun piece of trivia, this still frame of the teacher is actually the main icon for the official EvaGeeks Wiki!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love how Shinji immediately answers yes to the question of whether or not he’s the pillow of EVA Unit-01 when he sees one of his female classmates waving at him across the room (implying that she was the one who typed it), and that he can’t help but slightly enjoy all the newfound attention and validation he’s been craving from a predominantly female crowd. Definitely feels like a subtle bit of character-building in regards to Shinji’s deep-seated issues with women and sexuality that become increasingly prevalent as the series progresses.
The way Shinji responds to Toji punching him in retaliation for him accidentally injuring his sister back in Episode 2 with, “I didn’t have a choice, they made me pilot he stupid thing,” combined with Toji angrily punching Shinji again in response… I love how this both reflects Shinji’s continued self-loathing and lack of self-esteem when it comes to piloting the EVA (only seconds after slightly appreciating yet still feeling awkward over the praise he recieved from his other classmates For piloting), as well as Toji’s inital inability to truly understand how emotionally painful being burdened with the responsibility of piloting the giant mecha actually is!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 4th Angel, Shamshel, has just appeared! According to Wikipedia, this Angel's name is a reference to, "Shamsiel (Hebrew and Aramaic: שִׁמְשִׁיאֵל Šīmšīʾēl, "God is my sun" Greek: Σεμσιήλ Semsiḗl), also spelled Samsâpêêl, Shamshel, Shashiel or Shamshiel, was the 16th Watcher of the 20 leaders of the 200 fallen angels that are mentioned in the Book of Enoch. The name means "God is my sun", which is fitting since it has been said that Shamsiel taught men the signs of the sun."
I’ve gotta say… Shamshel's design is just… bizarre... in a manner that’s simultaneously fascinating and disturbing. On the one hand it has this cool manta-ray or cobra-like appearance (with some centipede-like legs) whenever it's viewed from both the front and above in regards to the shape of its head. Plus, it also has these cool electrical-whips which it utilizes as melee-weapons! But on the other hand, the shape of Shamshel's head combined with its elongated body feels intentionally suggestive, as does the design of the Angel’s mouth and core underneath its head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like how Shinji is already questioning his decision to return to piloting the EVA after already realizing from the previous episode that his father won’t acknowledge him (as seen in their brief non-verbal encounter in the elevator after the battle with Sachiel) as well as having been punched by Toji as a consequence for his actions while piloting! Shinji honestly doesn’t know why he’s piloting. At least on a conscious level…
Also, the fact that Shinji continues to monotonously repeat the words “Position the target in the center then pull the switch,” as he fires upon Shamshel is another nice touch, especially since he does so while wasting all of his ammo in the process. It just goes to show that aimlessly following orders without motivation or drive never pays off…
Also also, the fact that Shinji immediately panics upon realizing that the instructions he was repetitively following from Misato earlier in the episode backfire on him (he emptied his ammunition so quickly that he blinded himself to the Angel’s whip attacks with the smoke of his own gunfire) is another important bit of character development in this regard!
Also also also, the tension really increases when Shamshel not only severs EVA Unit-01's umbilical cable, but Shinji is forced to welcome Kensuke & Toji into his Entry-Plug for protection when the two idiotically abandoned Tokyo-3's civilian evacuation shelter to watch the battle in-person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Holy crap! I honestly forgot just how badass the scene of Shinji stabbing Shamshel’s core with his progressive-knife as EVA Unit-01’s power rapidly depletes is! The animation, the soundtrack, the ticking-clock, and Spike Spencer’s voice acting of Shinji’s screams here all work in perfect synchronization to truly elevate the amount of tension in this fight scene!
At the same time however, I am rather curious as to what exactly was going on in Shinji’s head when he spontaneously decided to disobey Misato’s orders for once and actually kill the Angel head-on instead of retreating, once again stating the iconic line of, “I mustn’t run away!” Did Shinji feel that because following orders previously failed to defeat the Angel or win him the acceptance of others, he might instead gain said-acceptance by doing the exact opposite? Especially since Toji was inside the Entry-Plug right alongside him? Or was it a form of subconcious guilt for previously having hurt Toji’s sister, and wanting to do whatever he could to make amends?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And speaking of Toji, I love the look on his face after Shinji kills Shamshel, as this is the exact moment where he finally starts to develop a sense of empathy and understanding towards Shinji’s burden as an EVA pilot!
I’ve gotta say, I remember being both incredibly shocked and impressed by the level of depth Anno managed to provide Toji’s character when I first watched the series! Like… when we first saw him punch Shinji I was honestly afraid that Toji was primarily going to be relegated to the role of the generic stereotypical school bully/jock. But to witness Toji immediately begin expressing regret for previously lashing out at Shinji after witnessing just how psychologically painful piloting the EVA is for Shinji (even though he publicly tries to deny said-regret in front of Kensuke due to his gruff exterior), it conveyed a surprising level of dimension to this character IMO, actively subverting the boring archetype that I initally feared Toji would be even though he does still embody some elements of stereotypical toxic masculinity in fiction. Definite kudos on Anno’s part there!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, for whatever reason Misato’s voice overs for the “Next Episode” teasers are different on the Blu-Ray than they were on my original DVD copies despite Alison Kieth still being present. I’m guessing it was a change between the Perfect and Platinum editions… random but okay… though it’s only in the teaser for Episode 4 that Misato finally gives her trademark running gag of promising more fan-service (which is honestly a lie since there's hardly any legitimate fan-service in NGE, and is mostly just another showcase of Misato's overtly sexual personality). In the previous two teasers Misato instead promised “something a little extra,” which is less funny IMO)…
But yeah, overall that was NGE, "Episode 3: The Phone That Never Rings/A transfer"! I really love the insight this episode gives into Shinji’s psychology in regards to his lack of motivation and self-esteem, as well as the introduction of the Hedgehog’s Dilemma which heavily defines not only Shinji’s actions but the those of the rest of the cast! Plus, the fight with Shamshel was FREAKING epic, and the subverting of tropes with Toji’s character was another strong highlight of the episode!
Next up is Episode 4, and I’m really excited to revisit that one as it’s always been one of my personal favorite entries in the entire series!

¬ ☾.*. ` sunlight kisses `
Tumblr media
¬ relationship : steve harrington x gn!reader
¬ tags : fluff, just pure fluff. some may say tooth rotting fluff...
¬ word count : 0.6k (it's a bit short woops)
¬ description :
Takes place a few weeks after the end of s2 events, you've been regularly staying over at steve's as his presence is the only way you feel safe enough to sleep. you've also offered your first aid abilities in repayment, though he doesn't want any.
Also posted on ao3 and wattpad!!
Rays of sunlight streamed through the checked curtains which billowed slightly from the early morning breeze, painting the back of your eyelids a painfully neon orange which stirred you awake.
You hummed in frustration blinking against the bright light. As you became more aware of your surroundings you felt the arm around your waist pulling you gently against the front of your lovers chest and felt the steady rise and fall of his breathing, he was still deep in slumber.
You attempted to carefully twist yourself to face Steve without disturbing him, he looked so peaceful whilst asleep and it was the rare time he wasn't tormented by aches and pains. His face was still slightly bruised along with his body. You stayed at his often over the past week and tended to his wounds when they were still fresh, his pain rised an anger out of you'd never experienced before. You'd sworn often that you'd beat the shit out of Billy the next time you saw him. Steve always talked you down from it though with his comforting words and soft touches. You hated how he had such a strong effect on you, usually pissing you off more, but your angry spurts usually ended with kisses and that swiftly shut you up.
To your dismay your shuffling caused his eyebrows to scrunch up as he let out a painful groan.
"Does it still hurt?" you asked, your voice tainted with anxiety and sympathy as you stretched your hands carefully over the bruises on his side where he had received multiple swift kicks.
"Not really, it's more of an ache now. Still hits like a rock in the morning though." he chuckles painfully giving you a sloppy grin.
" I'm sorry to disturb you, I just wanted to see your face..." he could almost laugh at how guilty you looked over something so small.
"Don't you start feeling bad for me, I feel much better for seeing you."
You couldn't help the smile that broke across your face as you scrunched your mouth up in an attempt to supress it and shoved your head down under his chin and into his chest, which rumbled with a chuckle as he softly tilted your head up by your jaw to place a soft kiss to your lips.
You always loved this part of your mornings with him. His parents were rarely home to disturb you both and demand you sit 10-feet away from each other. So you could just dwell in each others comfort and warmth for awhile, forgetting the world around you.
His soft kisses became more frequent as he began to press kisses all around your face in an attempt to cheer you up. You began to giggle as you struggled against him.
"Stop! It tickles!" you squeeked.
"Not -"
He planted a kiss on your forehead.
"Until -"
Another on your cheek.
"You -"
Another on your nose.
"Cheer -"
Another few up your jaw.
"Up."
Before placing a definitive strong kiss to your lips.
He pulled back to look you in the eye. "I'm fine, it's just a few bruises now. You are an amazing doctor. Now stop worrying yourself. I love being waking up to you in front of me. You're breath taking..." he stared at you with that signature look which makes your insides melt.
"I love you." your voice came out barely louder than a whisper. He suppressed a laugh.
"I love you to." he whispers back, mocking you fondly.
You felt you face get warmer slightly with embarrassment and pushed your face into his chest as he wrapped his arms around you stroking small circles on your back chuckling slightly at you're demeanour.
And that's where you stayed basking in each others comfort until the days events demanded you out of bed, finally at peace even if it's just for a few small moments.

ok here goes
mozart l'opera rock lighting infodump
by tumblr user and amateur theater tech nerd fructidors
(flash warning for some of the gifs)
disclaimer the (limited) experience i have with theater tech has been like 96.7 percent sound i have touched a lightboard exactly once in my life i am not at all qualified to make this post i've just overheard a lot of other techies talking about lights. also it has been barely a week since i watched this musical for the first time so i am just new to all of this in general. anyways onwards
i feel like what really makes the lighting in mlor stand out is that it doesn't just accentuate the set and costumes and actors, it engages dynamically with them. it doesn't feel natural, or suspend disbelief-- it's showy and bright and just as much a part of the spectacle as the copious amounts of eyeliner! and that almost feels fourth-wall-breaking in a way?
so i was going to just do my favorite moments but uh. turns out i have way too much to say so we're going song by song
overture/penser l'impossible: i love the opening and the patterning on the floor it's so dramatic (i think these are gobos? like i said. clueless) the set's so well lit here too i don't know if the gold highlights count as lighting but i am obsessed. also it sets up this show's habit of Making Everything So Red when something bad happens
Tumblr media
also shoutout to the bubble of neon pink mozart apparently brings with him wherever he goes. icon
Tumblr media
la chanson de l'aubergiste/le trublion: grouping these together since i don't have a ton to say about either of them
he's coming out of the floor ooooooo
Tumblr media
no actually i love this trapdoor and how the guy's lit from below/within So Much oh my god. i think they do it again with the clown but with fog and. perfection i love it if i could change one thing about mlor i would give it a turntable because it deserves a turntable but i also think every show should have a trapdoor
Tumblr media
transition into le trublion !!!! another cotton candy mozart moment we love to see it
bim bam boum: ok oh my god here's where it starts getting good.
Tumblr media
sorry about the watermark on this one i literally could not get it to be normal without it but. oh my god ohghmygpod. are you seeing this. peut-être que mozart n'est pas un magicien but i genuinely think the lighting designer might be
and the dress. is a disco ball thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
do i need to explain the stroke of lighting genius this is. she is not merely being lit she is emitting light she is a part of the lighting this was probably hell to get right but ohhhhmy god they pulled it off also i love the way mozart is lit in this entire song so much
the moving lights in this one also make me absolutely insane here are some stills of them as well as the transitions in and out of that bit in between the second and last choruses
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is one of my favorite songs lighting-wise in the whole show it's so ephemeral and dreamy and clearly gives off exactly the vibe it wants to it's visually stunning and emotionally effective no notes whatsoever and of course the transition out of it is perfect as well
Tumblr media
six pieds sur terre: (sorry ah vous dirais-je maman but it's really just that one light on constanze) i'm equally insane about the lighting on this one it's not even that pivotal of a song it didn't have to go that hard but. somehow it did
i love the transition into it so much
Tumblr media
but the lighting in the bridge is. oh my god it's. these are just the transitions in and out of it since they're the most like. dynamic parts but i would put in the entire bridge if i could
Tumblr media Tumblr media
et enfin. at the end of the song there's this effect that i genuinely cannot get over i think it's floor lights but there's something about the color and placement of constanze and aloysia and their dresses that makes it look like they're lit from within? it's so magical i love it so much
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
j'accuse mon père: i am soooooo so normal about this lighting. so normal about this song in general. you have never met a person more normal about j'accuse mon père than i
Tumblr media
this gif is weirdly low quality for some reason but look at this. the flames. mozart, isolated, in that harsh red again, his father in white, everyone else in blue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these ones with mozart in the foreground are. they're so. images of all time oh my god you could put them in a museum. (obviously most of the credit there goes to the people with cameras but the lighting adds that stark juxtaposition that i think really gives the effect it's. effect)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i realize now that i'm probably going to be saying "this is one of the best lit songs in the show" for like half of these songs. but this really is right up there with bim bam boum in that it powerful, eye-catching lighting that adds so much weight to its emotional effects. here, the lighting colors in the scene, not over it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok i have hit the image limit so the rest is coming in more parts. told you i had too much to say about this

Would it be possible for a chamber hc with a reader who is in the val protocol but they are married or sum like that😚😚
ABSOLUTELY ANON Here we go!
Tumblr media
Okay so this is gonna be broke up into two things! married prior to valorant and married after! Being married prior to Valorant and joining after
Chamber guards his personal life as if it was a some prized treasure, not letting anyone even near it if he could help it
When it came to you the two of you met oddly, bumping into each other during your time working for Kingdom. He became charmed by you and eventually, against his better judgement, pursued you. This lead to where you are today, the weapon designers prized partner.
When he joined Valorant he was very up front with you about it, he hardly kept anything from you so it wasn't really shocking .
He spoke of seeing if he could convince Brim to reach out to you without giving your married status away. He knows your as capable as he is and it would make work easier with someone he easily got along with beside him
Once he placed the bait and got you invited you joined without a second thought, keeping everything about your relationship hush hush
Everyone in Valorant quickly noticed how well of a team you two are. Chamber follows your orders better than anyone elses and you do the same to his, being able to predict each others movements as well as thought process on the fly
Due to this great team work you two almost always end up on missions together
Chamber admittedly would keep an eye out for you more than he should and wouldn't dare leave what ever point you were guarding, wanting to make sure you got home safe and sound
Everyone is super surprised that the same Chamber who was refusing to move earlier nearly goes at a sprint when you tell him to move points
Chamber would put himself in the line of fire to protect you or help you and frequently places his teleporter near you
The team quickly learns the safest place is where ever you are because theres a very determined sniper not far behind watching your every move
if you ever died or got injured he would blame himself for putting you in harms way so he wants to make sure that never happens
Being married after you joined Valorant
At first you and Chamber got along like cats and dogs but eventually grew to tolerate each other
He started lurking around you more and more, asking for feed back on designs as well as help testing them. Eventually you two spent most of your time together and over time ended up dating and getting married.
You two train together often to make sure that you are well synced
Chamber has seen you be blood thirsty before so while he wont hover over you, he is ready the moment you do say you need help as its typically serious
Surprises the agents by how much he trusts your judgement and wont fight you on things since he typically at least sasses the others about
Neon entirely thinks your crazy for being so friendly to him, little does she know he is practically wrapped around your finger
He would entirely leave the protocol if you so asked him to or wanted to leave yourself, would be a bit iffy about it but eventually would
Despite knowing you are entirely capable he still watches out for you and keeps one of his trademarks near you, jumping the moment it goes off
If your relationship got out he would wear it with pride and have a "so what, it clearly doesn't effect work" attitude
Still antagonistic towards you
Despite being married it still does take a while to really get to know him deeply simply because he is very secretive, it took nearly a year after being married for him to even bring you to his home town.
Mildly afraid of you but also he really likes that
would be partially afraid of revealing his life outside of valorant as well as his goals to you as he isn't sure if you would leave him for it or grow to hate him

FEMTOBER BLOG: Centennials & Strikes
What do Sherlock Holmes fighting dinosaurs and French women having sex with cars have in common?
Tumblr media
And what is Freddy Krueger's connection to Halloweentown?
Tumblr media
Every Femtober, I try to include a category or two that's relevant to the events of the year so far. The double WGA/SAG-AFTRA Strike is already unprecedented, but for it to happen on the centennial of two much-maligned studios is deeply ironic.
This year, I watched two movies from non-AMPTP studios, and two movies from Disney and Warner Brothers. Unfortunately due to the inherent lack of women directing for studios, finding a good match for Disney and WB was difficult, but the indie studio films also presented an interesting challenge.
Though women-directed films at Disney and WB are among the highest grossing of all time, the number of films women are directing for these studios is very limited. And on top of that, horror is an even smaller number, particularly in Disney’s family-friendly catalog.
I wrote previously about my Warner Brothers pick Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, which I had already seen. While the title of the film is pretty telling, it does ultimately feel like a bit of a franchise killer. Rachel Talalay really wanted to make something different, and she sure as hell did it, but at the cost of lessening some of the horror of the franchise. It feels very meta, but it's really not until New Nightmare that meta horror really takes shape. The overall story is lackluster, but it's a worthy experiment into a new approach to the genre that's largely unappreciated.
My Disney pick, Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge, was also a rewatch but one I had not seen in quite some time. I can't say I really have fond memories of Halloweentown II specifically, but I do remember Disney Channel playing the commercial for it constantly.
What was most surprising to me about this DCOM was how scary it actually was. I initially struggled between choosing this movie, Hocus Pocus 2, and Ravenous. They all would be rewatches, but Hocus Pocus 2 is just bad, and as much as I love Ravenous it's already been in 2 previous Femtobers. I was worried listing Halloweentown II as a horror was a bit of a copout, but it's definitely horror by way of kid camp. There's something Tim Burton-esque about the first and second installments, and in general the Halloween DCOMs always tended to give me the creeps. It wasn't until I was in high school that I rewatched Don't Look Under the Bed, which scared the crap out of me as a kid.
For having such a tame reputation, Disney has some surprisingly effective scares. On top of that, the thing that really struck me about Halloweentown II is how uncomfortable the movie is. Kids are familiar with the joy and colors of the first movie, and in this one they've been replaced by bleak gray and monotone. It's definitely unsettling.
Tumblr media
I have to admit, for my non-struck studio picks I wanted to be as meme-y as possible. The idea of putting an Asylum film in the same category as a Palme D'Or winner from Neon was hilarious to me.
Unfortunately for me, the meme wasn't really worth it. Asylum's take on Sherlock Holmes from Rachel Lee Goldenberg is simply dreadful (so much so that I turned it off after 30 minutes - OOPS!). Which really makes me scratch my head, because while Goldenberg has directed the Asylum films Sherlock Holmes and Sunday School Musical, she's also directed the very charming HBO Max film Unpregnant. Hopefully that means she's broken out of the Asylum, so to speak, because it was a really great film! (Incidentally, she also directed one of my all time favorite Lifetime Christmas Movies, Love at the Christmas Table - also a very good movie!)
Tumblr media
Titane is a whole different beast. I wasn't sure what to expect; everything I had seen and everyone I had talked to warned me that Titane was not for the weak of heart - or stomach. But, I heard similar things about Raw, which I didn't find unpalatable at all.
If I may go on a bit of a tangent, I feel like with horror, oftentimes there's kind of an all-or-nothing stance on what we can watch. If you've seen one you've seen them all. Well in any film, but I think in particular horror, there are things that some people just don't want to see, for one reason or another. Maybe this isn't "normal" behavior, but I'm not really that concerned about spoilers a lot of the time, so I tend to seek out the content of a movie before watching. Too many times I've been triggered by something I just didn't want to see. So maybe it's okay to normalize that idea a little bit. Horror is visceral and scary, but it's also fun, you know?
That being said, I felt like I had a pretty good handle on what to expect from Titane. The plot, however, threw me for a bit of a loop. Everything I had seen about it really only focused on the first 20 minutes, when the real story unfolds after that. Titane isn't the best film I've ever watched, but how exhilarating is it to find a movie that goes in a direction you never thought possible?
I also find it interesting that because Titane is regarded as being so transgressive, none of the plot really ended up getting spoiled for me, because I never really saw anybody talking about it. Titane is distributed by Neon, and along with A24, those were the indie studios I sought out to complete this category. And you would think that indie studios would have a few more titles to choose from directed by women. Of course, this is just a sampling of two studios, but I did feel a bit wanting by the selection, particularly with A24. I can't help but feel a little discouraged that even the indie studios are becoming "mainstream" in their demographics.
There are plenty of indie horror films directed by women, but quality and availability tend to make these films suffer. I'm not so sure there's an easy fix besides: let women make more movies. Hopefully the success of Barbie, and the potential success of Wish and The Marvels will move the needle a bit.
Tumblr media
Other Disney female-directed horror films: • Clock, directed by Alexis Jacknow • Ravenous, directed by Antonia Bird • Hocus Pocus 2, directed by Anne Fletcher
Other Warner Brothers female-directed horror/horror-adjacent films: • Red Riding Hood, directed by Catherine Hardwicke • Embrace of the Vampire, directed by Anne Goursaud • The Banana Splits Movie, directed by Danishka Esterhazy • Daphne & Velma, directed by Suzi Yoonessi

Explaining my Gorillaz birthday illustrations
💙 23rd May, 2-D's Birthday🎂
Tumblr media
Every fan knows that the first to have a birthday is 2-D and being the first is the one who defines the theme of the other birthday illustrations of the others, so I decided that my inspiration would be the albums whose story focuses on a member of the band plus the added bonus of using photographs of models whose aesthetic or theme of said portrait you can associate with each member.
🖼 Reference photo:
Tumblr media
Boys Undone | Metal Magazine A fashion story by Sophie Mayanne & Lee Trigg for metalmagazine.eu
I saw the photograph and immediately thought of 2-D: perhaps it was the way the young man picks his nose with his finger (something Stu would do or has done at some point), the innocence his face conveys, or how the model looks somewhat misaligned. Whatever it was, this was the photograph that was used as a reference.
💽 Phase and Album: Phase 5, The Now Now (2018)
Tumblr media
The Now Now (2018)
The Now Now was the band's fifth album and the story of which focused more on 2-D, taking the position as the leader of the band while Murdoc is in jail, the latter being replaced by Ace, a member of the Gangrene Gang in the mythical cartoon 'The Powerpuff Girls' by Craig McCracken.
It was more than obvious the album and the "style" of art that he would use for it. Something that I really liked about this phase is that the vast majority of the art used a curious color palette: blues and pinks in neon tones that were combined with a monochrome style in the characters (mostly black and white).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did my best to replicate, completely failing in blue (the background is more aquamarine 😅) but I mostly respected the characteristic color palette of that phase. Doing this job reminded me a bit of the old jobs I used to do during my years as students in Visual Arts. Perhaps the only thing that I don't quite like is the hand whose size is much larger than the face and the effect of the fur on the jacket being what I like the most about my illustration.
🧡 3rd June, Russel's Birthday🎂
Tumblr media
The most underrated member not only by fans but also by the creators themselves. I feel somewhat sorry for Russel since from the first 3 phases he had a setback from which he has currently not been able to get out of there 😔.
He's the one who draws the least (mostly for fear that the Social Justice Warriors will come and throw me a bard), but when I do, he's the one who I enjoy doing it the most. Maybe it's 'cause his design is a challenge for me and takes me out of my comfort zone, the final result of my illustrations where he is the protagonist makes me end up with a smile on my face 😊.
🖼 Reference photo:
Tumblr media
People - Photos A model is backstage at the Ricardo Seco fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 at Eyebeam Studio on September 8, 2013 in New York City.
Maybe when I think of Russell I don't picture him smoking since it's more common to see that in 2-D and Murdoc. But the few times Jamie draws him smoking is with a cigar, more elegant compared to his other two companions. The decision of said photo wasn't only 'cause the model is Afro-descendant but 'cause I wanted to challenge me by painting the smoke of the cigarette. Perhaps the model's clothing was another reason for him to wear this photograph: it's too laid back style as is Russell's personality.
💽 Phase and Album: Phase 1, Gorillaz (2001)
Tumblr media
Gorillaz (2001)
The first album, Gorillaz and clearly the first phase is (mostly) focused on Russell and his ability to see and be possessed by ghosts, especially the ghost Del Tha Ghost Rapper.
It's the phase whose art style screams 2000's: it has that rebellious street style that is identifiable with people who like skateboarding, punk rock, rap or hip hop or street vibes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I confess that it was hard for me to transfer to the illustration and more in the fact of the color palette, so I decided to guide myself by the cover of the eponymous album: a green military tone filter. Unfortunately, by combining that ocher color with the burnt sienna of the shirt and giving it an olive green "wash", it gives more of an air to the color palette of the Plastic Beach sketches (it's too warm and that's why it gives me those vibes ). I doubt that adding the earring to his ear would save the concept, maybe I should have looked for another reference photograph... despite that, I really like it and I consider the smoke I painted acceptable.
💚 6th June, Murdoc's Birthday🎂
Tumblr media
Oh, Murdoc. This bastard whose birthday is 3 days after Russell and whose proximity drives me crazy 'cause he's usually my least favorite illustration. The relationship I've with this character is easily described in this image:
Tumblr media
And I could skip his illustration, BUT that wouldn't be fair so I tried to summon my will to draw him.
🖼 Reference photo:
Tumblr media
Peter DeVito on Twitter “My grandma turns 85 on Monday so we shot this fun birthday concept. *I also got some photos of her without the hats but I’m still working on them and we’re tryna shoot a few more birthday concepts so keep an eye out for those:)”
Murdoc is a decrepit old man, isn't he? So under that logic I had to use a reference from an older person. It wasn't easy since there is usually a lot of photography of young models or people in their 30s and/or 40s. It was a somewhat complicated search 'cause I couldn't find a photograph of a model that screamed Murdoc F. Niccals and, to be honest, I was resigning... UNTIL I found the right one.
The moment I found the reference PHOTOGRAPH I knew it was something Murdc could do: wear various colorful birthday hats and use a birthday candle as a cigarette allegorying that as each birthday passes, our existence will slowly consume away (that or I'm just seeing things where I'm not). And yes, my idea was also to add the hand that is holding said birthday candle, as a way of following a pattern (two illustrations showing only the face and two showing one of his hands) and that this will "complement" with that of 2-D 'cause you already know: they have an insane dependent relationship that they have for each other (and by relationship I not only reduce it to a romantic one, as certain fans usually do 🙄, but also having a relationship can be work, friendship or relative).
💽 Phase and Album: Phase 3, Plastic Beach (2010)
Tumblr media
Plastic Beach (2010)
I confess that phase 3, that is, the Plastic Beach album is my favorite of all and I dare say that it is THE BEST.
Personally, it's the one that I enjoy the most, both 'cause of the story behind the virtual band and the real one. What it aimed to be and that due to various obstacles we only obtained 15% of what was planned (maybe less) , in addition to the load of the socio-environmental message that the album pointed to and the ART of the different covers it had (DUDE! They had a scale model of the island for the cover and some visuals). The truth is that I feel that it is a super complete album and different from what they did in the past and what they do now, it was the album that defined the before and after of Gorillaz music.
And I could make a testament to why it's a TOO good album, but I'd better leave you these two videos where the music on the album is deepened and analyzed (they're in Spanish, but I think you can activate the 'Automatic translation' option in the subtitles)
youtube
youtube
It's quite curious how this phase has an extremely warm color palette both in its official arts, album cover and sketches when almost the vast majority of the musical themes border on the depressive or with shades of desolation , perhaps it is Murdoc openly expressing how he feels about the possibility of being alone or dying alone ('cause according to the lore of the band, all the songs are written by him) seasoned with the guilt he feels about the accident that caused the "death" of Noddle in 'El Mañana'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ocher yellows, reddish or purple tones, and green are those colors that are repeated, therefore, that was the color palette that I used for my illustration. My intention was to make it look like the sketches that Jamie did during those years and trying to respect that essence of being a watercolor (in fact, all the illustrations are painted with watercolor).
❤ 31st October, Noodle's Birthday🎂
Tumblr media
And last but not least, we have our beloved Noodle 🥰. Since she is the last to have her birthday, my rest time is extensive and I can think much better about what I should do, however it's also usually somewhat problematic 'cause I trust myself and (generally) I usually do her illustration the day before or the day of his birthday 😅, but it ends up being the one I like the most of the four.
🖼 Reference photo:
Tumblr media
@lyiee on Instagram Bạn có biết tại sao khi nhìn ảnh này tim bạn bị đập nhanh không? Oi bạn ơi tại vì bạn kochoido đấy bạn ạ 🌚
With Noodle it's always easier to get a reference image or photograph.
I had already selected the photograph for months and I chose her not only 'cause the model is of Asian descent but 'cause from phase 2, Noodle shows an interest in fashion (something that continues to be maintained) and the use of a helmet is super characteristic of her that she could not let it go.
💽 Phase and Album: Phase 2, Demon Days (2005)
Tumblr media
Demon Days (2005)
Demon Days it's Noodle's album, it's the album that makes possible the return of the band and initiates this stage of experimentation and it's the favorite of all G-fandom.
It is darker, more raw... so much so that it is reflected a lot in the art.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Color palette with such dark tones, overly saturated shadows and the characters are no longer so geometric, but look uncomfortably more detailed. They look gloomy and dirty and go with the gothic and emo vibe of those years.
But did I respect that essence? The truth is that I think not 'cause I only base myself on the color that Noodle presents on the album cover: green. And although that color is often seen in some official art from that phase, it's not as... colorful as the one in my illustration.
Her watercolor has more of a Phase 1 inspired vibe and even though it has black shadows, they aren't saturated enough as they should be. Still my favorite illustration of the four.
And so I end this post 😬. I hope you liked reading it and I appreciate the gesture 'cause I don't usually share the reason for my illustrations very much. I'll probably do it another time.

*talking to someone I’m trying to get into tma* Ok so that’s Jon, the main character. Then there’s Jonny, the guy who wrote it. There’s also Jonny, Jonny’s character in the band the Mechanisms. And of course don’t forget John, the character who Jonny - the creator - is playing in upcoming podcast Re: Dracula. You need to remember that Rusty Quill and the transcripts really like to spell Jon (you remember, the main character) as John. Yeah, yeah, so don’t worry, it’s not hard to remember at all.

Week 11
Tuesday 29th November-
We began this week with a mini presentation of our digital lab progress. We spoke through the idea of combining the thought lab and digital lab, by capturing the notion of fear and technophobia in the world on Minecraft. We knew that in Minecraft you walk through as if your are physically in that world and so we though that links with Liz's digital object, that being the 360 degree camera. If we were to place the world into the VR headset the audience would experience this world and the 360 degree perspective firsthand.
In this lesson we had planned to use the dark space to paint and film the pieces of fabric that we had found in the studio. We used paints from the school of art that weren't in use, and began with the creative experimental painting. I started by using the decking wood to imprint on the fabric. Amie used the bike wheel and rolled and dropped it, leaving track and circular marks. We used the teacup and painted it so the circular shapes imprinted on the fabric. We also filled it with paint then dropped it, leaving interesting shatter explosive effects. We recorded the process and photographed the piece once finished. We got some really interesting images of the piece and the paint that was leftover on the objects.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Friday 2nd December-
On Friday we continued with the experimental painting. We painted another piece of fabric, this time we were more cautious of the colours used, we used a neon paint that we had come across as we thought it may be interesting to test this with varying lighting colours. We also focused on the idea of smashing the cup filled with paint. We attempted this technique on the first piece however, because this was the first try and we had already used a variety of techniques, we didn't feel the full potential was achieved and so focused this technique on the next piece. This one was a fun one to make. We filmed the process again, as it will contribute to the full final video that will be projected next to the painted pieces. We used the blue light and the normal light throughout the making of this piece, it was quite exciting to see the piece transform and glow when the lights changed.
