Note
I've seen another blog mention that the JP server changed the weekly missions from rhythm games to guest room battles. Was there an explanation given for this change?
Tumblr media
Explained? No.
Announced? Yes.
There was an in-game announcement (I believe packaged with the 4th year anniversary quality of life updates) which included a note about changing some of the weekly missions from doing Twistunes/Rhythmics to Guest Room battles.
I guess the devs just thought the battles would be less annoying to do than the rhythm games…? It’s definitely faster, especially with the new 3x speed (another QoL update!) to battles.

NEW FEATURES
We’ll be getting the following new functions:
Part 1 (beginning 11 Mar):
Event Recall - Previously completed stories will be available to enjoy in the same way the original events were presented (instead of just the story in archive form). If the event story has not already been unlocked through normal play through, it will require gems to unlock. Missed rhythmics will be made available in the RHYTHMIC page once cleared. This is available through the Story tab.
Memory Shop - Items that were previously available during events (such as extra cards and groovy items, etc.) will be available in the Memory Shop. Memory Medals are required to purchase items from this shop, which can be bought in the gem shop, or during this event in the Tuna Can 2024 Shop. You must have finished the event either via the original run or from the Event Recall for items to be available for purchase.
Crewel/Trein/Vargas Item Gacha - New Item Gacha will be available that require "Reward Medals" to roll in. These Reward Medals will be dropped during lessons. The Item Gachas will have items from those respective lessons available. In addition, Crewel's Item Gacha will have the new Buddy Lv Up Items.
Buddy Lv Up Items - The Friendship Herb Tea will be available to increase Buddy Levels of cards. There will be three tiers (L, M, and S) and will be dropped during Alchemy and Special classes.
Other Changes
Up to 25 teams can be saved for use during battles. Support or Guest cards cannot be saved in a team.
Support Cards can be pinned, so that they will be easily accessible whenever you need that support.
There will be an option to favorite specific story chapters available from the Archive screen.
Single Magical Keys can now be converted to a Tenfold Magical Key, given that you have 10 single keys available.
Lesson Skip Tickets will become available. This cannot be used for Special lessons.
Collect Battles can be completed in a batch similar to Tests.
Magic Lv can be increased multiple levels at once instead of one at a time.
Battle Speed can now be set to 3x.
AP, BP, and RP can be refilled in batches instead of one at a time.
The Trouble sequence in the Guest Room can be skipped.
The Guest Room invite time will be reduced.
Part 2 (Beginning 15 Mar):
Second Floor of the Guest Room - A second floor to the Guest Room will be added that can be decked out with its own theme, furniture, and BGM. This will unlock at room rank 31.
Event BGM added to Guest Room - The BGM Shop will have previous event BGM available.
Other Changes
New voice lines for alchemy and flight classes.
New voice lines for when changing attire form on the home screen.
Room rank maximum raised to 40.
Part 3 (Beginning 18 Mar):
New Cumulative Missions - Missions regarding cards/lessons/exams will be added to the Missions tab.
Weekly Missions Updated - Clearing Rhythmics 3 and 5 times will be removed, and instead will be replaced by Win 5 and 10 Collect Battles.
Grim Card Requirements
Grim is a temporary card and will disappear if you don’t complete some requirements:
Collect 500 Tuna Cans [2024]
Read 「4th Anniversary」 Event Story Episode 2
The Tuna Can [2024] is an event drop and you can get 1, 2 or 5 randomly by completing lessons (History, Flying or Alchemy). You can see how many you have on the bottom of the Event Page. Left is how many you have right now (so if you spent some, the number is lower), right is how many you have collected until now (this is what you need to make Grim permanent).
Tumblr media
To quickly go to Grim’s lessons from the event page, click on the Lesson button on the Main Event page or go all the way to the right on the Lesson Page, right after Diasomnia.
When you click on Grim’s card to level him up, you’ll get a message reminding you that he isn’t permanent yet, so items and madol spent on him will also disappear if you don’t make him permanent in time. Just click the black button to proceed.
One of the missions is to level up one of Grim’s magic to Lv.5 and we suggest you start with his M1 if only to complete the missions faster, because you use Tuna Cans to level up magic and the amount needed for each magic is different. (To level up magic, just click on the 4th tab: 魔法Lv)
Stamp Card Info
On the bottom left of the Event Page you’ll see a Stamp Icon, click there and complete some missions for rewards.
The event ends on the 25th, but the First Stamp Card only goes until the 15th 14:59 (JST), so pay attention to the time limit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Second Stamp Card goes until the 25th 14:59 (JST)

— Black Swan Kit TL;DR —
All Basic Attack, Skill, and Ultimate deal Wind DMG on enemies.
Arcana = deals Wind DMG and Wind DoT damage at start of enemy turn
Arcana stack = increase DoT dmg%; max of 50 stacks; resets at enemy turn
Basic Attack: Chance to apply an Arcana Stack for each DoT on enemy.
Skill: Chance to apply DEF shred and Arcana stack.
Ultimate: Applies Epiphany on all enemies for 2 turns.
Epiphany = more DoT dmg% and Arcana effects are considered as Wind Shear, Bleed, Burn, and Shock; Arcana stacks don’t reset as long as Epiphany is on enemy.
Talent: when enemies enter battle, applies DoT; each DoT enemy gets, chance to get Arcana stack
If 3+ Arcana stacks = chance to apply Arcana stacks on adjacent targets
If 7+ Arcana stacks = DEF ignore on target and adjacent targets
Technique: chance to apply Arcana stacks on target at start of battle
Tumblr media
— How to Play Black Swan in Simplified Form —
Black Swan can’t detonate any DoTs. Her DoT damage depends on enemy speed = backloaded damage. Her kit revolves entirely around increasing the damage enemies take from DoTs at beginning of their turns, by increasing the Arcana stacks on them.
She needs another DoT unit to apply DoTs on enemy and to trigger DoTs outside of enemies’ turns (e.g. Kafka, E4 Sampo, E6 Luka, or Guinaifen’s ultimate). This is possible when Epiphany is on enemies, since her Arcana stacks can also be triggered by other DoT units.
Black Swan Gameplay in Razor Language:
Other DoT units take turns before BS, they apply DoT on enemy
BS takes turn to use skill or basic attack
Enemy gets Arcana stacks from DoTs and DEF shred (if used skill)
Enemy turn starts, DoT DMG and Arcana gets triggered; Arcana stacks reset.
Profit. ( •_•)👍
Black Swan using Ultimate: Use Black Swan’s ultimate first before her DoT allies detonate their own DoT DMG (e.g. using their Ultimate).

From GuobaCertified:

Theoretical Consensus:
Their calcs are mostly focused in stacking speed on their units.
In Hunterkee’s calcs, the speed ranges from 147 to 163 spd, where the healer is the fastest, while depending on the team comp, Guinaifen is the slowest.
The speed ranges from 153 to 162 spd in Bonk’s calcs, where Kafka and the healer are the slowest, while Ruan Mei is the fastest.
In GuobaCertified’s simulations, the speed ranges from 163 to 168 spd, where Ruan Mei is the fastest, while Kafka is the slowest.
Amongst the three calcs, Hunterkee’s is closer to home because that’s mostly the speed range that F2Ps and low-spender players can achieve for their character builds. GuobaCertified’s, however, looks something you’d only see in whale builds or minmax builds. In all 3 simulations, Black Swan’s speed is somewhere in the middle.
Tumblr media
— Does she need Kafka? —
BS could work without Kafka, but BS needs another unit that would trigger her DoTs outside the enemies’ turns. BS loses a lot of damage if her damage only relies on enemies’ turns, with no one to detonate her DoTs outside their turns.
— How much boost does Black Swan bring to Kafka DoT teams? —
Tumblr media
From Hunterkee’s calcs, Black Swan brings about 19% boost against single-target enemy and 33% boost on AoE.
— ATK% or SPD on boots? —
Slow BS = ATK% boots
Fast BS = SPD boots
BS in Pure Fiction = SPD boots
Reasoning:
MoC has a limit of 10 cycles for you to defeat the enemies. Whether you use ATK% or SPD boots on her, Black Swan needs time to gain stacks to deal more DoT damage on enemies’ turn start.
However, Pure Fiction needs you to clear the enemies at faster rate. This means you need to clear out the first 5, before the next 5 could spawn in. This is where SPD boots would be more advantageous for her to act more turns before the enemies.
Also, SPD boots if you need to reach the SPD threshold for Glamoth set.
NOTE: There’s this discussion about building Fast BS, Slow BS, and “Classical SPD” BS. “Classical SPD” BS means her having 134 SPD. The post is written by u/L0wpriority here and a counterargument was posted by u/guobacertified here. To know what goes on in their talks, better check those links instead.
However, for me, I’d say to build your BS’s SPD according to what her allies’ SPD are. I’ve linked below some showcase for BS teams and the team order of each. I also explained how those teams are formed and worked together in the Practical Consensus below.
— ATK% or Wind DMG% on orb? —
Wind DMG% orb if no Ruan Mei; ATK% orb if Ruan Mei is in team. Difference is minimal.
Damage difference:
From Hunterkee’s calcs: 0.06%
From Guoba’s: 1.48%-2.75%

Black Swan as Debuffer
Black Swan as debuffer for Dr. Ratio team – this could work if you use BS for her DEF shred only (and you have Ruan Mei in your team); sample showcase done by Rehoo and EdenPlays.
E1 Black Swan as debuffer for Jing Yuan team – E1 Black Swan is like 5* Pela (but with RES reduce instead of DEF shred) for fire, lightning, physical, and wind; sample showcase done by Sleepy here.
Black Swan as debuffer for Blade team – not sure if BS in this showcase is E0 or E1, but BS acts as debuffer for him regardless; sample showcase done by Exodus here.
Black Swan using Freeze Mechanics
Black Swan Freeze team – sample showcase done by Hyrion here. [Team order: Luocha > Pela > Ruan Mei > Black Swan]
Practical Consensus:
In teams with Ruan Mei, Black Swan speed in team showcase mostly ranges from 134 to 140+, while her teammates are ranging from 129 to 153 spd. Sustains are mostly either the slowest or fastest in the team. Other DoT allies are positioned either before or after Black Swan.
Ruan Mei is mostly used in Black Swan teams. This could be explained by Ruan Mei’s talent where she could reduce the SPD needed by Black Swan. With the enemies having 158 spd and reducing to 154 spd due to break, instead of needing 155 spd for Black Swan, she could settle with 145 spd instead.
Asta is used as alternative for Ruan Mei in F2P teams because she could increase the SPD of allies with her ultimate. Both Ruan Mei and Asta are positioned before Black Swan.
But, if no Ruan Mei in team, Black Swan is mostly built with slow build, with her DoT allies stacking as much DoTs as possible for her Arcana stacks. If BS is built with fast build (e.g having 155+ spd), this could alleviate the SP usage of the team because she could opt to use Basics instead.
Black Swan DMG relies on enemy turns, thus avoid using slow debuffs and imprisonment on enemies in her teams. However, she could utilize freeze mechanic and Ruan Mei’s break delay because despite freezing the enemies, the enemies still take their turn before being pushed back to take another later turn. This means that the enemies get two DoT turn triggers after getting frozen.
Some teams are quirky, but eh, it doesn’t matter. As long as their team could 3-star the stage, why make a problem out of it?

Dokapon: Sword of Fury remaster announced for Switch
From Gematsu
Tumblr media
Sting has announced Dokapon: Sword of Fury for Switch. It is a remastered version of the 1998-released PlayStation title of the same name. It will launch on August 1 in Japan for 4,620 yen.
Here is an overview of the game, via its retail listings:
About
The most taboo in the Dokapon series?! Are you sure these kind of expressions are OK in the 2020s? Now you can enjoy the visuals of the past as a remastered release. While retaining the subtle world depicted by the original game’s pixel art graphics, the illustrations and 3D graphics have been made easier on the eyes on the big screen with newly added effects. The 3D graphics use a toon-like expression, and the illustrations have a smooth look. You can also revert back to the pixel art graphics of the past.
Key Features
Outsmart Your Friends and Become the Richest Person in the World – The player who becomes the richest (has the most assets) will be the winner. To do that, you must fight against monsters, steal items, rob stores, and… defeat your friends? This is a board game where anything goes! Use unique events like the Tenka Ippin Battle tournament and alliance systems to maximize profits. Of course, it can also be enjoyed as an RPG in which you adventure across a vast map.
A Rock-Paper-Scissors-Based Battle System That Anyone Can Enjoy – When you encounter an enemy, a battle will begin. Battles are simple—they are turn-based battles in which a coin toss determines who goes first and who goes second. As for the controls, simply select an attack method from four commands. If your attack is successful, it can do major damage to the enemy. Conversely, if it does not play well against the enemy’s defense method, you could end up taking major damage yourself. Tense battles will unfold where you must read your enemy’s moves, and where the outcome can change in an instant depending on the commands you choose.
Newly Added Multiplayer Support and Online Battles – With multiplayer support for up to four players, everyone can play with just one copy of the game. Additionally, with online support, you can play with friends far and wide. You can even stop playing mid-game, save, and continue playing from where you left off.
Increase the Tempo with the New High-Speed Function – A high-speed function has been added as a quality-of-life feature. You can choose 3x speed and 5x speed, so even busy people can play with ease. This feature can also be used online.
Enjoy A Bit of Customization with “Secret Sauce” – The “Secret Sauce” feature allows you to change bits of the game balance. Like seasoning, it allows various elements to be slightly adjusted. The “Number of Games Setting” allows you to designate the number of games played, so even those with little time can enjoy playing. Other features include the ability to play around with subtle balance settings, such as setting limitless magic usage and the number of times Wallace appears. And for Dokapon series fans, there is also a feature that allows you to change the battle background music to that of previous Dokapon games. Live in the atmosphere of the past!

Fs pony art and lore
@shadylink I'm never really gonna refine and post these as their own thing but I figured u might be interested, most of these are just really bad finger doodles, cuz I hadn't drawn ponies in such a long time-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Btw in this au I decided to rework mlp's magic system, so basically each type of pony has their own type of magic ofc
Pegasi get flight , unicorns get spell magic, and earth ponies get strength that's the norm
But basically I'm deciding to see this as like, percentages.
Basically unicorns can do things like transformation and warp spells, pegasi can fly at high speeds skillfully and create gusts of winds, earth ponies can lift like 9x their weight and be more resistant to natural poisons/have less chance of injury because of a really dense coat and stronger bones -
but this is after specialized training in their areas and requires like years of practice. This is like 100% of the potential of those specific things, like Olympic athletes
most ponies just use like 50% of their capabilities so for unicorns that's just like refridgerating spells, light spells, levitation - pegasi is just flying over distances and being able to walk on clouds- earth ponies lifting like idk 4.5x their weight
so just normal skills that aid them in day to day life
i was thinking what if ponies could be half of two types?
so instead of just 100% magical capacity for a specific quality, 50% of their magic will be from one type and 50% of the other.
So if an earth pony and a unicorn had a kid, then MAYBE, (the phenomenon is a bit more rare but not unusual) they'd have the basic earth pony strength and the basic unicorn magic. HOWEVER, if that kid wanted to say, learn a warp spell, they wouldn't be able to do so.
Full unicorns would have longer horns and earth ponies would have stronger more vibrantly colored hooves that an earth-unicorn would.
Full pegasi would have fuller, stronger, sharper wings, while a half pegasus would have softer and smaller ones.
Alicorns would have the full magical extent of all three, essentially giving them 3x the magic of others. That mix could probably create even more magical potential.
For obvious reasons, there aren't any pegasi-unicorns because they'd look too much like alicorns design wise. I'm gonna say that their magical energies just oppose too much, while earth ponies, being so tied to the natural world is more able to mix with both.
Link was originally an earth-pegasi with a bit of extra strength and the ability to fly in general. His battle style is mostly sharp fast cuts with quick brief escapes to the air and then back into battle
also I've decided to give them clothes
when Link split into four, the types of ponies they were depended on their parents genetics
So green's a full pegasi, blue's a full earth pony, red is a earth-unicorn (this is why he uses a fire rod, he wouldn't be able to do a fire spell that strong on his own, but a fire rod would enhance his natural magic) and vio is a full unicorn
Anyways shadow is kinda like stealing king sombras vibes, he looks earth pegasi like link was but his wings are hooves are all shadowy lol
also links cutie mark was a sword in front of the triforce
after the split, each of their cutie marks turned into the four sword in front of their respective element
enjoy lol, u can do whatever u want with this info, hope you like it
EDit: also I fixed their swords so they can actually hold them with their mouths properly enough to correctly aim
oh I also forgot!
basically a little tidbit from my brainrot is that red actually got the hang of his unicorn magic really well, but vio just struggled even being able to start it up to levitate a pebble
he ended up being able to use his magic only after they almost got crushed by a rock slide and vio was able to raise a crystal sheild
he got bad magical exhaustion from that tho and still struggled to control his magic until shadow helped him later
green originally thought he was link because he was the only one who had wings, but because he wasn't earth pony and their cutie marks were just the elements they realized there wasn't an "original" but rather a split four ways
it takes them some time to realize that the type of pony they are isn't connected to the elements, but rather genetic probability
also when they first split vio had no idea he was a unicorn and while he was trying to figure it out the others were just like
listening to him ramble about how their types don't make sense!
how does earth relate to the water element? and if its a genetic thing, then why is red the only unico-
and then he's like why are u staring at me like that???is there something on my face?? and then he just has a whole freaking 100% unicorn horn and he's like well f*ck
anyways I also forgot to mention-
basically if a pony were to engage in battle stuff, some little tricks as a last ditch attempt to creat espace between themself and the enemy include:
Earth: stomping the ground so hard that your opponent loses balance
Pegasi: Creating a guest of wind to blow your opponent away
Unicorn: stab with the horn <3

Never have I wanted a 3X speed button in the battles for WBH
I’m trying to get to that Valefor scene, I need to see my greedy Teddy bear Himbo
🦩
I have seen it. You will like it. Although... his scene proves that male!MC is a ken doll and it is really funny. I was screaming at 🪰anon about it. (I put it under the read more)
Also, game finally confirmed that Valefor is also rich beyond our imagination. I don't know why it shocked me considering everyone in Tartaros is wealthy to the point it should invalidate the economy, but it did.

Mari's Tera Raid Guide #14 - Meganium
I have a Rabsca and I have a Skeledirge. Have I said that I love Skeledirge in raids? Because I love Skeledirge in raids. You should get a Skeledirge. For the raids. Do you want a Skeledirge
Rabsca lv.100
Ability: any
Nature: Modest (/Rash)
Item: Shell Bell
Tera type: Bug
IVs: max HP, defense, special attack (speed?)
EVs: 252 defense, 252 special attack, 4 HP
Moveset:
-Bug Buzz (level up)
-Lunge (level up)
-Iron Defense (TM)
-Calm Mind (TM)
Usage:
Meganium only wipes away your stat modifications once and quite early, at 79% time left. We're going to take advantage of that!
Use no more than one or two Iron Defense to open, then keep doing Lunges to charge the tera orb while keeping Meganium's attack boosts at bay, until you get your stats wiped. Do not terastallize for now. After your stat reset, start with 3 Iron Defenses, then 6 Calm Minds. You could need to heal with a Heal Up cheer once or twice between Calm Minds. As soon as you have your +6 defense and +6 special attack, heal again if you're very low on health (~ less than 50 HP), then terastallize and use only Bug Buzz for the rest of the battle.
Quite easy except for the occasional critical hit.
TL; DR: 1-2 Iron Defense, Lunge until player stat wipe (at least 3x); 3 Iron Defense, 6 Calm Minds (heal with cheer as needed), terastallize, Bug Buzz spam.
Pros:
-common pokemon
-extra common tera type
-ability is nbd
Cons:
-lots of turns to set up
-----
Skeledirge lv.100
Ability: Unaware (hidden)
Nature: Modest (/Rash/Quiet)
Item: Shell Bell
Tera type: Ghost
IVs: max HP, defense, special attack
EVs: 252 defense, 252 special attack, 4 HP (probably also viable with 252 HP/252 sp.atk./4HP)
Moveset:
-Torch Song (level up)
-Shadow Ball (level up)
-(Slack Off (egg move))
-(Hex (level up))
Usage:
GUYS I love this reptile. It's a bit harder to obtain if you're playing solo and without NSO, but iirc you should get a copy of each paldean starter with their hidden ability with Pokemon Home, so you can breed that one. Unaware 'dirge is just a beast in high level raids in general, I keep a fire tera one always ready. Ghost tera Skeledirge was also the only non-legendary pokemon to be confirmed able to solo the mewtwo raid! How cool is that!
Ahem, anyway. We don't have many defensive options on this one, because we're letting Unaware do most of the work. But, since it's an ability, it gets nullified on the turn in which our stat modifictions get wiped (if you haven't read above: once, at 79% time left). To avoid dying, we have to make it so Meganium reaches that point with no attack boosts, and to do that... we wait.
DO NOT MOVE UNTIL YOU GET YOUR STATS RESET AND YOUR ABILITY NULLIFIED. "Do not move" means NO ATTACKS and NO CHEERS.
I know it seems counterintuitive to just waste a whole fifth of the time bar, but it works. Once this phase is over, you're safe to go. Use 6 Torch Songs to max out your special attack, then terastallize (not as soon as your orb is charged, wait after all 6 the Torch Songs. Don't wanna lose the resistance to Seed Bomb before you're done setting up) and simply use Shadow Ball for the rest of your life.
I only included Slack Off for the emergencies (2 or more critical hits while you're setting up) and Hex for if one of your ally NPCs happened to apply a status condition to Meganium (poison, paralysis etc). In that case you can use Hex to deal more damage than Shadow Ball would do, but it's not so necessary. Meganium goes down comfortably in 7-9 Shadow Balls, plenty of time left.
TL;DR: wait until your stats get wiped, then 6x Torch Song, then terastallize, then Shadow Ball spam.
Pros:
-so easy T-T
-this is probably the dumbest strategy I've posted since I started
-very useful pokemon you should be using on raids in general
-an Unaware Fuecoco is available for free with Pokemon Home (don't remember the details but they're not hard to look up)
Cons:
-tera type must be changed

Features
Multiple save files.
Elite Battle system from Luka SJ
Speed up script, press Q to toggle game speeds (1x, 2x, 3x, 4x).
You CAN turn off AI-controlled allies and issue commands for their Pokemon, but I don’t recommend it. The difficulty is balanced around the auto battle mechanic.

actually introducing people to what pokemon stadium is even if you dont know about pkmn AND GLAMOUR SHOTS
okay enough talking Around this game, WHAT IS POKEMON STADIUM??? the game released in 1998 in japan i mean. basically, in 1997 pokemon was red hot and there were already starting to be huge nationwide tournaments. by th end of the year pokemon stadium was announced, boasting the ability for the most tournament-capable pokemon to duke it out in full 3d!! truth be told, pokemon stadium i suspect always had one real purpose: to "complete" competitive battling in pokemon. i've heard a rumor that multiplayer battling was a later addition to the game, if so it could explain some of the imbalances when battling. even your average everyday pokemon player in 2000 will notice stuff in here like the sleep clause and such that are standard in the stadium games and help balance out the game.
more importantly than game balance were bugfixes and the big flashy 3D pokemon battles. infamously moves like blizzard had better or worse stats than they should have and this was a way to standardize changing them. the 3D battles provided audiences a much more interesting look at the action than the stodgy super game boy presentation of tournaments up to this point, and even in 2000 it was a compelling hook. your very own pokemon can join the battle thanks to the incredible power of the n64 transfer pak. this device, largely useless outside of pokemon and mario sports games, is basically the only way to get anything at all out of pokemon stadium japan.
the headliner is the battles, and pokemon stadium allows free battle with a friend along with its two headliner cups. we'll talk more about those later. four of the other available selections for play were condensed into oak's lab for later games. there actually are some noticable differences in using these oak's lab-like functions though, in general they're a little clunkier and more limited. i'm not really able to deep dive into the sorting and filtering options but most features from the later international pokemon stadium were present here. one thing that doesn't seem to be present though is the ability to go directly from the sorting/filtering into a check of the pokemon's details. this may lead into another feature later that somewhat makes up for this…
one thing i've said time and again is how important oak's lab and pokemon stadium are to the gen 1 and 2 games, especially gen 1 with its slower and clunkier PC system. being able to shuffle around pokemon and quickly locate one and move it somewhere else and deposit items en masse while sorting your inventory, all this stuff rules and it's all in this first pokemon stadium game. this includes on cartridge storage for pokemon.
the other two oak's-like panels are different in that they can be used even if your game isn't saved at a pokemon center. that's because one is your pokedex. logically it makes sense to always have access to this so i appreciate that touch, though having it locked behind oak's lab isn't that much hassle. the other panel is for your current party. i was a little vexed by the purpose of this at first before realizing it's a very simple and quick way to view the 3D models of the pokemon in your party. considering the only real way to see these 3D models outside of battle is the pokedex, this isn't that bad, plus if i'm right and you really can't see details as simply from the sort/list function, it's here in the party function.
Tumblr media
registering your pokemon seems to just grab your current party at the time, possibly another reason why there would be an ingame party check screen. there may be other options, again, i'm hardly an expert here. the only other option is the ability to play your japanese gen 1 games, and this is no small deal. i've heard reports (and will presumably soon confirm) that the same 2x and 3x speed up functions from later stadium games is accounted for here after fully clearing the cups. like i've said before, the ability to speed up pokemon games is obviously really fucking useful especially when you're getting prepared for a competitive battle
and that's pretty much it! no gym leader castle to give a 'greatest hits' of the original games with battles against the gym leaders, no mini games, no hall of fame (cough) no picture taking (…cough) and obviously no trainer school. but what this game does have is the foundations for future pokemon stadium games, along with pretty much everything that was important and useful about them anyway. giving you ingame challenges to overcome with your trained team to get game boy speedup functions? check. seeing your buddies in full 3d while using the lab to make item management a breeze? check. the core is obviously here
now about that thing i've left neglected. 40 out of 151 pokemon! not every single inclusion is competitively viable but there aren't that many options that are purely fluff either. no matter how you slice it it's limited. the game was programmed to be able to accept interaction with a 64DD, but instead of releasing an expansion pack with more pokemon they just elected to make pokemon stadium 2 instead (what we got as simply pokemon stadium). but how about those 3d models?
in battle, most of the pokemon you'll encounter appear to look more or less identical to pokemon stadium international to my eye, but there are some notable exceptions.
Tumblr media
nidoking here is definitely an earlier model
Tumblr media
and now some pokedex glamour shots!!! this pidgeotto basically looks the same as international…
Tumblr media
huge difference! persian had a completely different model in later games, this one is obviously lower poly
Tumblr media
this machoke is also obviously different and bluer. for some of these i'm curious as to how much time Creatures had to get them ready for the game, even considering it released months after expected
Tumblr media
mew here is depicted on-model but with its eyes always closed..
pokedex!!! let's check out kanto!!! i literally dont remember if this actually looks different from the international game but there's a screenshot in case it is different!!
Tumblr media
next time, i'll talk about LV1-30 ultra ball!! and introduce the cups and their rules!!!!

Just finished FF8 for the first time it was very good! I didn’t jive with it at first but it got better as it went on.
Junctioning was super cool and led to a lot of creativity, it was just clunky to operate. It let you get really broken, which is fun, but even with the enemy scaling it was pretty easy to get past it. Like triple Ultima 3 for 1 deal is absurd. Gameplay could be a little slow, I abused the 3x speed for moving around and battle a lot, but I might’ve just been impatient.
The graphical step up from 7 is crazy, I was on remaster so it wasn’t really a perfect representation of the jump between the games, but even with the cutscene quality and the dynamicism of some of the in-game scenes is crazy for 1999.
The FF/KH bullshit goes crazy in this one like wtf does time compression mean. The story went a lot of different places, and all FFs do, but this one I felt like the transition between “sections” of the story didn’t flow as well as other games I’ve played. Not that I think those are objective flaws, just quirks I felt while playing.
Really enjoyed it, related to squall, & really liked his and riona’s dynamic. Liked seeing how the circumstances of the story affected these kids and watching them grow up over the course of the game.
Good game get this out my drafts

Ranking the first ten FF games. They are all incredible, so jot that down. These are merely ranked by the enjoyment I got from each. I shall note the version I completed them on.
10. Final Fantasy (I)
Pixel Remaster on iOS (iPad). Fun to play to see the origins of the series and just how many aspects have been there since game number one. Surprisingly good, but lacking in story.
9. Final Fantasy IV
DS port on iOS (iPad). The DS version voice acting was a little much for me and the DS’s focus on map exploration was not transferred well to the new platform, so I might have enjoyed the PR or a rom of the original better. Also found it too melodramatic.
8. Final Fantasy II
Pixel Remaster on iOS (iPad). Shockingly deep story for a Famicom game, though I understand they implemented more of the GBA Dawn of Souls version changes for this PR than they did for FFI. I loved the guest party members and what they added to the story.
7. Final Fantasy VII
Switch port of original. Aesthetically very cool, but hard for me to navigate the backgrounds with 32-bit graphics. Also glitchy. Cloud annoyed me. Would love to play the Remake.
6. Final Fantasy V
Pixel Remaster on iOS (iPad). I looove the job system. Underrated soundtrack. My favorite Cid. The meteor travel makes no sense but other than I found the story very fun even if not deep.
5. Final Fantasy VIII
Port of Remaster on Switch. I’m realizing I put a lot of weight on mechanics, because this game, much like FFV, is definitely stronger in its mechanics than its story. I love junctions. And I actually love how far the game leans into a convoluted story. I loved battling 3 space sorceresses. “Drawing” magic would take forever without the 3x speed feature though, so definitely play the remaster.
4. Final Fantasy X
HD Remaster on Switch. Just a solid game that resonated with my own religious trauma. Love the turn based combat. I hate Titus and Waka. Everyone else is great.
3. Final Fantasy VI
Defunct mobile version. The first FF game I ever played though I only beat it 3 years ago. It is just such a complete experience. The total package. Wonderful story. A huge party of memorable characters.
2. Final Fantasy III
DS version ported to iPad—specifically iPad. Why wasn’t there an iPad specific version of IV? The characters weren’t much but the world was riveting and I looooove the job system. I found the chibi art style very cute. No voice acting was also a plus.
1. Final Fantasy IX
Switch port of HD remaster. Such whimsy. I was sold on this title from the sword fight to flamenco music during the play performance at the beginning.

With the combined magic of 25,000 Moonlight Shards 🌖 to pull 250 times overall, you’ll meet Moonlight Cookie then if you haven’t met her already. Trust me, they’ll add up over time.
