I haven’t caught up but not liking how it sounds. Endeavor resorting to double suicide doesn’t make sense. Why did he and other heroes not plan for this scenario? Did he at least try to think of another way? He and Hawks have the strangest fall in development. I’m sure they’re going to make a “comeback” but these beats feel forced in comparison with other traumatized characters.

I mean, the thing is hard to take seriously because it's so plainly set up the way it is so the plot can happen.

From what I can gather the Heroes didn't know Dabi was capable of exploding. In fact I'm not sure if even Touya knew he could do this until he copied Shoto's new move. So, it makes sense that the Heroes don't have a plan for this. They expected Touya to be with Shoto who had the ice powers to cool him, and that even if he got away he had similar fire power to Enji. Not that he could turn himself into a nuke.

As for the double suicide, Hori has again written Enji into a corner where he can only really make one choice, but then have that choice criticized unfairly.

Touya is out if it. He is not able to speak coherently. Enji himself is having trouble not fainting due to heat stroke. Enji has no ice powers to cool Touya. Touya is about to blow up and take everyone with him.

There is literally nothing else Enji can do. He tries to tell Touya to put out his flames and that he doesn't want him to die. He even takes responsibility for hurting Touya. But it falls on deaf ears because Touya is so out of it. Enji could say anything to him and it would not change anything because Touya is not there mentally. He is a flaming skeleton with a bomb in his chest. Nothing Enji can do will stop him from dying at this point. All he can do be with his son and make sure no one else is killed.

It's not really a double suicide in the way people feared it would be, where Enji just gives up and decides to kill them both because Dabi is to far gone personality wise. Enji isn't killing Touya, he is just taking them up in the air so Touya doesn't inadvertently kill everyone. Enji doesn't think he's to far gone as a person--that he's just committed to many crimes and has to be culled. No, Dabi is already going to die and so Enji goes to die with him, while also doing so in a way where no one else has to join them.

I'm really hoping that this isn't framed as Enji giving up and being shitty again, but with Rei showing up I fear it will be. It is unfair and poor writing to frame it that way after Hori takes away any other option Enji has. To have Rei come in and berate him or something would be hollow because she can do what he can't--cool Touya down, maybe even enough to have him coherent again.

I don't like the suicide thing, but only because it's seems to be setting up Enji for yet another 'do better' moment, even though he literally can not do anything else. If Touya was mentally there and Enji kept saying the wrong thing, or just gave up anyway that would be different, but Hori took away any tool Enji had (talking) while also making the situation way more dire. If Enji can't talk Touya down and can't just let him contuine his rampage because he's about to kill hundreds of people (including his own family) the only choice he has to bring Touya somewhere safe where he can explode without causing more death.

hello, im looking for a fic i read a good while ago, probably late summer/early fall of 2022. all i remember is the later chapter(s) where steve and eddie were dating and spent alot of time at the harringtons bc his parents hadnt been home but they had come back eventually. i don't remember if steves parents caught them or if his dad was just accusing steve of being queer for associating with eddie which resulted in steve getting beat up, so he moves into the munsons trailer and wayne is concerned by steves injuries and assures him he's welcome to stay, steves father somehow tracks him to the trailer and shows up trying to force him to go back with him but wayne and hopper get involved. i hope this is enough detail, ive been itching to read it again. thank you so much for your help, hope your day is going well :)
