Kaeya & Dain scene
Tumblr media
I usually write a review-analysis of a new chapter in a single post. But I have so many things to talk about that I prefer doing a separate post for this one.
Spoilers below
The long wait is over. Finally we learn in the story that Kaeya is from Khaenri’ah and he meets Dainsleif too.
The reveal in typical Genshin fashion was a bit casual, it reminded me of Albedo’s important reveals from a little while ago.
Tumblr media
(Traveler turns very serious when Kaeya tells them about his native land)
We learn a few things here, especially from Kaeya’s past. So he thinks that Khaenri’ah is near Sumeru, at least that’s what he read. Which I find very curious because if he has that knowledge from a book it means that he doesn’t actually remember where it is? A bit weird, but he confirms that he came to Mondstadt when he was little.
I like how Kaeya finally decided to open up a bit and tell us things about his past, his little adventure as a child was quite endearing. Poor Crepus though, what a troublemaker he adopted lol
At first, I was wondering why Kaeya decided to tell his secret. I mean he didn’t tell everything, but he does tell us he’s from Khaenri’ah like that’s a very normal thing. I guess he did that because this is the Traveler we’re talking about. Kaeya knows that the Traveler is an important individual and he must know or suspect that they are investigating stuff about Khaenri’ah and the Abyss Order. Aside from having trust with them, I suspect that maybe he brought it up in case the Traveler knew something that could help him.
After all, Kaeya’s still not sure why his birth father left him in Mondstadt. He says it himself how at first he thought he had a “duty” but now he thinks maybe he just wanted to give Kaeya a peaceful life, which is something that some people have speculated about.
Tumblr media
(Very sneaky Dainsleif. Also, I find it very curious and funny that he orders specifically a Death After Noon)
Well, if his reason to tell us was to get new info, he certainly got it... from Dainsleif. This was a very anticipated and exciting meeting. And Dainsleif arrives as usual with a bomb lore: the founder of the Abyss Order was an Alberich.
I think the most fascinating thing is that Kaeya wasn’t aware of that. He certainly doesn’t know a lot about Khaenri’ah or his clan. But it seems that detail has given him some new ideas, although we still don’t know what exactly is he thinking about since he immediately leaves.
Also, funny that Kaeya recognized Dainsleif as a Khaenri’ahn because of his eyes, it’s the first time in the story someone mentions that detail.
Tumblr media
(Who thought we’d see this so soon? I actually wasn’t expecting Kaeya to be involved until later, so this scene was quite a surprise)
It’s interesting because this new info about the Alberich Clan has created tension between Dain and Kaeya, something that I wasn’t expecting. But it makes total sense, Dain doesn’t trust people easily and he thinks a person can’t run away from his past. As much as Kaeya says he doesn’t care about that anymore, between Dain saying that, and Mona’s quote about him, it seems certain that someday Kaeya will have to confront this.
Which is pretty exciting. This may have been a short scene, but it’s a big set up for the future. Kaeya is now involved in the main story, and he has met Dainsleif in person, both of those facts are quite important. Since the Alberichs are connected to the Abyss Order, they will be relevant again. We still don’t know what they are currently doing and why Kaeya’s birth father left him in Mondstadt.
It’s a bit sad at the same time. Kaeya loves Mondstadt, it’s obvious. He calls himself a Mondstadt citizen. But until this situation with the Abyss Order is resolved, he’ll never be actually free to live as he wants and to ignore the past.
Tumblr media
See ya Kaeya... I know it’s going to be a long time until we meet you again, at least in the main story, but I’m pretty excited for it!
Tumblr media
(By the way you can still see Kaeya a final time just after the tavern scene. He’s at the market near a teleport and has an optional dialogue here. Not very important but it’s something most people will miss. Kaeya just mentions that he wants to continue talking with us, but as he sees we’re busy we’ll have to wait for another time and says that he’ll be in Angel’s Share as usual.)

SPOILERS FOR 3.5 ARCHON QUEST AHEAD
DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT DONE THE QUEST!
Okay crack theory time!
Look I came up with this at like…12 AM
And yes…I did play the Archon quest at that hour, don’t at me.
Achem, now that we have gotten that out of the way, on with the crack theory that isn’t really a theory but more like some random tumblr user ranting on something that may not even be true but still wants to share cause thoughts.
So the quest was called “Caribert,” who we now know is the son of Eide (I’m not using his actual name, I don’t feel like writing it all), the Abyss Order Founder Aka, some relative of Kaeya (I will walk about that in a minute.)
The quest starts off with Kaeya, but unfortunate for many of us, he was only present for like…two minutes before going off to who knows where. But not before it gets revealed that he is related to the founder of the Abyss Order. Kaeya brushes this off and goes off his marry way. Again, it was a very short interaction, right?
Well hold that thought.
After a series of…events we happen to find this guy with a hilichurl. This hilichurl is none other than his son whose name is “Caribert.” According to him, Kheanri’ah took in anyone who did not wish to follow a god, meaning that anyone from any of the seven nations could be found in Kheanri’ah. Due to certain circumstances he met and fell in love with a women from Mondstadt. She gave birth to their son but not long after the cataclysm hit and their life was…well…destroyed. Eide says that those of pure Kheanri’ah Blood were cursed with immortality while those who forsook their god (those who came from any of the other seven nations) were cursed to forever roam the land as monsters. These are the hilichurls. Given Caribert was half Mondstadtian, he was cursed to be a hilichurl like his mother.
Towards the end of the quest, after a series of events, Caribert stands at the edge of a cliff and says that “he cannot take it anymore” and takes off his mask…only to explode in what seems to be abyssal energy. From there the player faints and that’s the last we see of Caribert.
Or so it seems.
You see…again…this is just a very very random thought and it could very well not be true…but…I couldn’t help but wonder…
Could it be that Caribert and Kaeya are the same?
Could it be that Kaeya isn’t just related to the found of the Abyss but is the SON of the founder?
Again, I can be completely wrong but like…there was stuff that just didn’t fit.
For one, why would they integrate Kaeya in the quest in the first place? Just to give Dainslef a justification to bring up the founder of the Abyss? Surely they could have found another way to do that, right? And why go through all that trouble just to show him so briefly? In all honesty, it didn’t sit well with me.
So my 12 AM brain went down a rabbit hole and started to connect stuff (I didn’t connect crap.)
Caribert’s mother was from Mondstadt. And Kaeya was left behind in Mondstadt. Interesting, no? I mean, it might just be a coincidence. But you have seven nations to choose from Hoyo, and you so happen to choose Mondstadt? Yeah that sounds a little fishy.
There is also the thing about “you’re our last hope,” thing Kaeya supposedly heard from his father. Okay…what makes Kaeya so special then? Why would he out of all people be the last hope of Kheanri’ah? Idk but if he is Caribert, who was called by his own father, the “Loom of Fate,” that would really give a whole new meaning to that, no?
I know I know…this doesn’t make any sense. But like…WHAT IF?
Anyways, onto a more “tamed” theory.
I bet everyone is wondering what the heck was that crystal that looked the the Defiled Statue, no? Well I sure don’t know what the heck that thing is nor do I have any significant comments on it but I do have a theory on the Defiled Statue (more like a thought.)
For the longest time I couldn’t understand why the Abyss Order stole Venti’s statue out of all the statues of the seven that there are all over Teyvat. Was it just random? Or is there a deeper meaning? Could it be because he is related to the god of time? Maybe (most likely). But now that we know the founder’s wife was from Mondstadt, it really makes you see the whole Defiled Statue situation differently.
Think about it: If your wife was cursed to be a monster because she turned her back on the god she was supposed to worship, wouldn’t you want to like…do something against that god? What better way then to defile a statue of his? It’s just a thought but like…you know…
Any who, I’m going back to my corner. I’ll leave you guys with your thoughts. :D Bye bye~

GENSHIN IMPACT FIC
With Betrayal comes Punishment
a/n: my first Genshin fic, also English isn't my first language so bear with me.
Available on AO3
Tumblr media
"Hmmm." Kaeya stroked his chin while observing the giant vases displayed at the market. He even thought of bringing one back to Mondstadt as a souvenir. However, his thoughts spiraled back to his interaction with the Traveler that afternoon.
Of course, Kaeya's purpose for coming all the way to Sumeru is true, but he also has other motives. It's not hard to convince Jean to agree to his proposal mainly because he is known for his love for alcohol. However, he didn't expect him to be here as well.
Dainslief
Kaeya doesn't trust the man one bit but he did help clear up some questions and suspicions he has, so he's somewhat grateful for that. What he wants to know is the reason why he is in Sumeru. Could they be after the same thing? No, that can't be it.
Kaeya sighed and started walking his way outside of the port. Now that all of his professional business is taken care of, it's time for the real reason he wanted to go to Sumeru.
His adventure in Sumeru is unfortunately cut short when he's just a child, he internally laughed as he reminisced about the memory. As a child, there was simply curiosity about his origins but as he grew older inside the Ragnvindr manor, he felt as though there was no reason to dig through his past as he has found a family that actually cares for him.
But now, there's a need for it. He can't hide from it forever, one way or another they will come for him and he has to make a choice. A choice that he once thought would be simple but after what happened that rainy night, he can't allow himself to make the same mistake again.
Kaeya has built and perfected the mask he wears every single day. Keeping things hidden and lying about certain things has become second nature to him. He won't let anyone know anything unless it's truly necessary.
On his way to his destination, Kaeya decided to call upon the source of the uneasy feeling he had bubbling up inside.
"You can come out now, I know you're there."
Within the lush green trees and bushes came out a figure. Tall and blue. A Lector? No, it's a Herald.
"You've been following me since this morning. It's quite rude. Now, tell me what have I done to catch the attention of the Abyss Order." Kaeya spoke.
"Kaeya Alberich, your connection to the abyss is so much greater than you have ever imagined."
"But of course." Kaeya let out an airy chuckle. "I have grown, learned, and discovered a few things."
"I assume you've listened to my conversation with Dainsleif earlier."
"I did notice that you're good friends with the blonde-haired traveler, got yourself acquainted with Dainsleif, and discussed... a few things. I hope you're not forgetting your duty."
"Of course not." Kaeya plastered on a smile.
"It's good that you've managed to put everything together."
"Truth be told, Dainsleif helped me realize a few things."
Realize that everything he thought was just wishful thinking. He's quite stupid to even think that his father would drop him at Mondstadt simply to give him a good life, free of burden. What a farce.
"Your loyalty belongs to the people of Khaenri'ah alone. Together with the Princess, we shall revive the motherland. And if you ever come to betray us, we'll make sure to set you up straight."
Kaeya smiled at the Herald as it disappeared out of sight. Its last words echoed through his mind like a broken record. Almost mocking him. Mocking him on how stupid he has been. Stupid of thinking there's a way out.
His eyes landed on his vision, long ago, he had hoped that a sinner like him having such a thing was a sign that his fate would change. It gave him hope that there was a chance he could be saved. But of course, Celestia isn't merciful for beings like him, for the two pairs of wings in his vision will forever be a constant reminder that he will never be truly a part of Mondstadt.
With one deep breath, he shook all of those thoughts away, his mind going back to the task at hand.
Right, the Avidya Forest, that's where it should be.
------
The rain poured hard as it covered the street with dirt and blood. A lone figure stood behind his army as he stared deep into one's blue eyes.
"You have disappointed me Kaeya." The figure spoke. "This city has tainted you."
The figure laughed, stretching out his arms, abyssal power flowing through him. "No matter, I can fix that."
Within a second, Kaeya felt what he could possibly describe as the most excruciating pain he has felt. He fell to his knees, shivering and clutching his body, for he has no idea what body part to grab onto as the pain is all over him. His body felt like it was on fire, needles slowly piercing deep into his skin, hammers pounding onto his head. The pain grew and grew and all he could do was scream, scream until his lungs gave out, scream until his voice gave out, scream until he couldn't scream any longer. The pain slowly became more prominent in his eye. His right eye to be specific. His right arm latched onto his eyepatch and quickly removed it and held a tight grip on his face, almost as if it reduced the pain he was feeling.
"Kaeya!"
He heard voices calling his name, and footsteps rushing toward him.
"What did you do to him?!" Kaeya heard a familiar voice. Jean? No, it can't be her, the voice is way too deep to belong to Jean. Diluc, maybe?
The red-haired gripped his claymore ready to attack, he hasn't seen Kaeya in such a pitiful state. The man has always been calm and collected. His heart broke into a thousand pieces for his worst nightmare is happening before his very eyes. Kaeya might die. Kaeya might die before he could apologize to him properly.
"What did you do to my brother?!" Diluc shouted, pointing his claymore at the figure before him. His vision becomes red, all he cares about at this point is saving Kaeya. Saving his brother. He can't let him die. There's still so much he has yet to do, so much left unsaid.
"Brother?!" The figure laughed, mocking him. "Kaeya isn't your brother! You can't be brothers with the likes of him! A sinner! A Khaenri'an! A traitor! A monster!"
Kaeya's screams got louder and louder, and his voice became rougher as if his throat was bleeding from all the screaming he'd been doing.
"Please..." Kaeya managed to say. "Kill me..."
"What?!" Diluc turned to him, eyes wide like saucers.
"Kill me Diluc... until I'm still me... Kill me now... before I... before I-I destroy everything... Please... I beg you..." Kaeya groaned, tears pooling in his eyes as he could feel abyssal power welling up inside of him. A power that's cold, dark, and sinister.
"NO!!!" Diluc screamed in protest. "I won't!! I promised myself I will never hurt you ever again!!"
"Please... I-I don't want to hurt anyone... I don't want to hurt Mondstadt... I don't... I-I don't want to hurt you."
"I-I can't do that!! You can't make me do that!! I-I couldn't possibly..."
Kaeya continued screaming until his voice became unrecognizable. Abyssal power surges through him, enveloping his entire being.
"KAEYA!!!" Diluc bolted up from his bed in a cold sweat.
Diluc looked around his surroundings, he was in his room and the sun was shining brightly. A nightmare? But, it felt so real.
Diluc leaned his head in the palm of his hand, contemplating what he just witnessed. His mind was swirling with uneasy thoughts. What was that? He asked himself.
He stood up from his bed and went over to the bathroom to wash his face, hoping to rid himself of the sudden weight he felt over his shoulders, but it was no use. He's a mess.
Only the sound of glass breaking woke him up from his trance-like state.
"What was that?" He asked, rushing downstairs, only to be greeted by an empty space and a broken vase. Colorful shards scattered around the wooden floor.

Also the Windblume event was cute. I was so happy to see Collei and Amber's reunion and her relationship with Sucrose was unexpected but equally intriguing. It's nice seeing two socially awkward characters find comfort in eachother. Also Brothersgate was fucking hilarious. The lore drop about the witches was interesting too.

Chapter 3 - Act VI
Tumblr media
Finally played the rest of the quest and here are my thoughts about it!
This was a very intriguing quest. As a big Dainsleif fan, I’m certainly disappointed that he didn’t have a big role this time. We only see him once a year so I always expect something important from him. But his biggest contribution this time was his lore drop to Kaeya.
The good thing is that the reveal that an ancestor of Kaeya created the Abyss Order was very relevant to this quest because we actually meet him in person.
Tumblr media
So the Traveler somehow starts... “living” a memory from their sibling. In it, we see the founder Chlothar Alberich who was trying to free his son from the curse.
We learn a few important details here. That only pure blooded Khaenri’ahn became immortal, while those who lived there but were from other regions became monsters like Hilichurls. That’s why Kaeya recognized Dainsleif as a pure blood, aside from the eyes of course.
We try helping the guy and we end up on some weird ruins where Hilichurls are gathering. Then we see this peculiar purple crystal and hear a voice, calling himself a “sinner”.
Tumblr media
We don’t get to know who this is, but it’s obvious that is someone very important who has incredible powers. With his... blessing, Chlothar is able to return his son Calibert’s consciousness, which seems like a miracle.
But Chlothar says something very ominous to him: Never take the mask off.
We return to the ruins but the crystal and the Hilichurls are gone, and then so is Calibert. We find him but the poor boy can’t take it anymore, he takes off the mask and we don’t see what happens.
Next we wake up, Chlothar has changed his demeanor a lot. He mentions how Calibert can now weave his destiny and he’ll become “The Loom of Fate”. Then he calls the Traveler by their sibling’s position and that’s when they realize what’s going on as they see themself on a mirror.
Tumblr media
The final scene is quite thought provoking. We end up digging a couple of bodies, and one of them seems to be Chlothar, burried with his wife. Which means that at some point somehow Chlothar got rid of his curse.
This quest while being incredibly interesting, leaves us with a lot of questions. Who is the voice? What happens when a Hilichurl takes the mask off? Again, what is the Loom of Fate? What is the power of the Abyss? How did he get rid of the curse?
The one thing that was clear to me is that I really feel for the people of Khaenri’ah. This was very heart breaking and I can understand their hatred for the Gods.
There are some other things that I was left wondering about. Chlothar said his wife was from Mondstadt, which is why his son turned into a Hilichurl. Is there some importance to that? Like, does that have something to do with the fact that Kaeya was left there? Probably not, but it was a curious detail to mention.
If Chlothar got rid of the curse, probably others did as well, which explains Kaeya’s existence. He’s not curse as far as we know. He’s of course not a Hilichurl and he ages so he’s not immortal. But do they really have no side effects from that? What if the reason Kaeya covers his right eye has something to do with all that?
I really hope that next time we continue with a Traveler Act we get to at least know the answer to some of these mysteries. Sumeru’s the fourth region so we’re past the middle point now, we need to start getting some answers.
So it was a pretty interesting quest, but I’m disappointed that we didn’t see Dain a lot and that we got even more questions than before. I really want more quests like this per year, one is not enough!

Shenhe's an update late for Lantern Rite but I'm glad that she's re-running much sooner than I thought. I didn't get on her first run because I was saving as much as I could for later.
Dehya on standard banner afterwards? On one side I'm happy because that means a chance to C6 her gradually. On another hand, why? We have Diluc on there. Where's our Geo standard at?

Alright so after finishing the archon quest, I have an urge to write a really angsty kaeya fic or a really fluffy fic of kaeya going to sumeru as a child and giving crepus a heart attack in the process.
