eleven is fascinating to me because he came right off the back of tens horrible traumatic breakdown after he lost everything and he immediately tried to establish himself as the opposite of that. he is funny and goofy and almost childlike, and he bulldozes on in his adventures with amy like nothing happened at all. but then something happens and his masks slips and it's like oh! the core of this man is still anger. he is so so angry all of the time and this façade is the only thing stopping him from being consumed by it. he isn't over any of it and he hasn't moved on. he is wearing a fez and laughing but under that all that exists is age old anger and grief and it is going to consume him

if I had a nickel for every time David Tennant has played a genderfluid, trauma-filled immortal having the worst day of their life in 2023, I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but apparently it's enough to making me going insane

excerpt from ‘untitled’, published in bbc doctor who storybook 2007.
“…he didn’t know his own name any more (who am i?) but he knew her, she was rose tyler and she was the most important thing to him.”
“rose was his best friend, and it was his job to protect her.”
“rose and the doctor, the doctor and rose, it went together like bangers and mash, fish and chips.”
“rose defined him, and he was the doctor, he was the doctor, and he wouldn’t forget again.”
can you believe it’s canon that you can’t have the tenth doctor without rose tyler? ten was born out of unconditional love, unwavering faith and sheer desperation for rose, essentially designed for her, and absolutely no one else. he simply fits her just as much as she fits him. it’s a ‘whatever souls are made, his and mine are the same’ typa romance.

people seeing gifs of the 15th doctor having gay little moments and going "ohh what's this show? i gotta watch it" is literally ending me not just coz of the concept that anyone can be unaware of doctor who but also bc like. while i do think it's a show ppl should watch in its entirety. DON'T DO IT FOR GAY REP LMAO. like it literally does have a lot of lgbt rep even all the way back in season 1 of 2005 fame but watching 13 seasons of doctor who coz something gay happens in the new eps is like. idk finding out there's a new pride and prejudice adaptation with a gay character in it and going ohhhh that sounds fun:) guess i'll go watch every adaptation ever made

in my childhood, i was gifted one of those books of random facts. one of them was about 'famous doctors' in media, one of them being doctor who, with a short explanation below - that he's actually not really a doctor, but an eccentric alien with two hearts, who helps humanity.
however, as a kid with no acces to british television and basic level of english, facts mixed in my head, and i became convinced that the fact was refering to doctor House, from the famous show doctor house, which my mom watched sometimes. so everytime i hung around and it was on the tv i looked at it and thought "damn, that's pretty stressful. not only is this guy puking his guts out but they'll have to deal with aliens at some point"
