As you looked over all of the makeup you had set out on the counter, making sure you had brought everything, Wooyoung watched you with an adoring and excited smile.
He knew you would say yes to helping him with his makeup for the party. And the excitement you showed only made him even happier that he asked.
The makeup he wanted wasn't complicated, just the basic dead, pale zombie style, with a few of your own personal touches thrown in. When you asked why he wanted your help rather than just doing it himself, he said that he would make it look bad.
You didn't necessarily disagree with this, so you decided you would help him.
Truthfully, Wooyoung was going to do it himself, he didn't mind how it looked all that much. But he wanted an excuse to be around you.
With how busy he had gotten, he hadn't been able to spend as much time with you as either of you wanted. And Wooyoung was getting...needy.
"Okay, ready?" You asked as you looked over at him.
He smiled and nodded, doing as you instructed as you began to prep his face.
You were fully aware of how Wooyoung's eyes never left your face. You also noticed the smirks he gave you when you got particularly close to him, and how his hands would gently hold of touch your legs or waist.
He was always like this with you, so it didn't feel particularly new. However, as time went on Wooyoung began making your job a lot more difficult.
Leaning close to apply vein-like details around his eye, Wooyoung took the opportunity to strike.
The second you looked away from him to grab something he smirked knowingly. As you looked back, you felt his lips press against yours, catching you off guard.
You blinked in surprise as he grinned proudly. You let out a soft laugh and shook your head a bit before continuing with his makeup.
You mistakenly expected it to be a one-time thing, but before you could even finish one detail of his makeup, he leaned forward and pressed a kiss to the side of your mouth.
"Wooyoung." You grumbled as you tried not to ruin the makeup.
He giggled softly, which you had to admit, made your heart flutter.
"What? I can't kiss my partner?"
"You can, just not when I'm trying to do your makeup."
He pouted, "That's no fun."
The third time, you saw it coming. You saw the way his eyes flicked to your lips, then to your hands. The second he moved, you stood up making him almost lose his balance as he collided with nothing but air rather than your face.
He met your eyes and saw the smirk on your face as he pouted dramatically.
"Heyy!."
"What?" You asked innocently, making him laugh in frustration.
The fourth time, you caught him again, but this time, by placing your hand to stop him.
"Hold still."
He groaned and stomped his feet a bit, "Y/nnnn"
"Wooyouuung" You mocked his tone. "Unless you want to look like a Nosferatu reject, let me finish." You chuckled.
As you began applying makeup to his lips, he kept pulling away with fits of giggles. "It tickles!"
You laughed but grabbed his chin to keep him close to you. "I said hold still."
You saw the spark in his eye as you did this, but ignored it.
Making the mistake of looking away to get more product, you shouldn't have been surprised when you felt his lips smash into yours when you looked back.
Instead of a quick peck however, his hand cupped your chin as he kissed you deeply.
When he pulled away with a grin, you immediately saw the smeared makeup and groaned, knowing you would now not only have to fix it, but remove the makeup from your face as well.
He laughed at the sight of makeup on our lips, once again proud of his actions, as you smacked his arm playfully.
"I'm never helping you with your makeup again."
"Aww, come on!" He said happily as he pulled you towards him, making you sit in his lap.
You tried to glare at him, but the pull of your lips was too obvious as he giggled, pressing a kiss to your cheek and wrapping his arms around your waist.
"You can't escape now!"
"Well then I guess you are going to the party like this."
You showed him his face in a small mirror and he laughed, seeing just how much he smeared his makeup.
"You can fix it like this can't you?" He asked with a twinkle in his eye as he squeezed you softly, not wanting you to move.
You rolled your eyes but grinned, feeling butterflies at his need for playful affection.
"Fine, but I swear to G-'"
"I'll be good." He cut you off with a grin you didn't believe for a second.
"Mhhmm, you better."
"Or what?" He challenged and you glared playfully at him.
"Or else I'll apply the rest of your makeup with permanent marker."
He laughed at your threat, watching you lovingly as you finished applying his makeup.
"You know I asked you to do this so I could spend time with you right?"
You grinned as you nodded, "Yes, I know. That's why I agreed to it too."
He grinned and leaned forward but you caught his eye with a small "Tsk".
He pressed his lips into a thin line and you couldn't repress a chuckle. Leaning forward, you pressed a soft and fast kiss to his lips, hoping the makeup had dried enough to not transfer.
Wooyoung grinned at the action as his hands squeezed your waist in delight. Looking over at the makeup, his eyes lit up as he got an idea.
"Can I do your makeup?"
"Absolutely not."
"Aww, why?"
"One, it will never get done because you won't stop trying to kiss me. And two, you have no idea how to do it, I'll end up looking like some Ronald McDonald rip-off."
He frowned, wanting to argue, but decided against it, knowing you were probably right.
"Fine." He sighed, admitting defeat.
You smiled at his tone as you set your brush down. "Done!"
He grinned happily as he looked at himself in the mirror.
"I knew you'd do a great job!" He said cheerfully, before he looked back at you with a more serious gaze.
"What?"
Leaning closer he whispered. "Hold still."
The seriousness of his tone caught you off guard as you froze. He hooked his fingers under your chin and pressed a kiss to your lips. He made sure not to give into his desire fully, not wanting to ruin your work again.
Pulling away, you saw a familiar twinkle in his eyes that made your stomach swirl. He swiped his thumb over your lips to get rid of any color that transferred.
He met your eyes and hummed. "I'm tempted to blow the party off."
You let out a soft laugh "And let all my hard work go to waste?" You shook your head and he chuckled.
"Fine, but you're all mine when we get home alright?"
You laughed as you nodded your head, "Deal."

Your eyes darted around the space in front of you. Payback was only a few steps in front of you, and it took everything in your power not to reach out and grab onto him. You don't know how you ended up a the back of the group, with only Jake behind you, but you felt almost isolated.
Every noise made your heat jolt, and your breath catch. You weren't even half-way through the haunted house, and you were tired of it. You were annoyed at yourself for letting them drag you into this. And with every scare and scream you regretted it more and more.
You felt a small clench of your chest when you felt something come up behind you. But you hid it well when you remembered it was Jake.
As he slid into step beside you, leaning in, you could practically hear the smirk in his voice when he spoke. His voice was low so only you could hear him.
"There's a stopping point ahead where you can give up on the house if you need too."
"Looking for an excuse so you can leave too?" You countered as you side-eyed him.
Before he could response, a clown leapt out of the darkness and yelled, causing you to yell and jump away. Out of reflex, with Jake right beside you, you had grabbed onto his arm, pressing your head against his bicep for a moment.
Realizing, you met his gaze, and felt your heart leap when you saw him grinning at you.
"Now I think you're the one looking for an excuse."
Pulling your arms away, you stuck your tongue out at him before you jogged to catch up with the others. You heard him chuckle as you did.
---
Jake let out a breathy chuckle, ignoring how his own heart was pounding from the most recent jump scare. The actors seemed able to know you were the most afraid. Nearly every corner something jumped out at you.
After yet another scare, he watched you as you leaned over, taking a deep breath, before you straightened up.
There were two paths ahead of you, that you had now just noticed. Jake had seen the group go to the left, but knew you had not. You paused, staring at the paths, uncertain of which one to take.
Coming up behind you, he whispered in your ear, making you jump lightly "They went right."
You glared at him as he smirked at you "I know" You excused, obviously lying, as you made your way down the right path.
Jake smirked to himself as he followed you, wondering what he just gotten you into. Hoping, that somewhere along the way, you'd end up clinging onto him again. He could not ignore how much he liked it last time.
The path grew darker, fake spiderwebs draped down in front of you, as fake fog swirling around your feet. It was unusually quiet, with no music or ambient sounds playing like before.
You slowed down in your steps, allowing Jake to catch up with you.
Hearing the sound of shuffling footsteps coming from within the walls, you moved away, leaning into Jake. Hearing a loud thump that made your jump, you ended up grabbing onto him.
Looking over at him, he was smiling again and you glared. "If you tell anyone about this I'll kill you."
He smiled as he leaned closer to you "What do I get if I don't?" you saw his eyes flicker down to your lips for a moment.
You felt your heart palpitate, and for a moment forgot where you were, as your ears burned hot.
Before you could think of a reply, something ran past behind you with a screech. This time, as you yelped, you heard another noise as well. Something unusually high pitched, that came from the previously cocky blonde beside you.
There was now silence between you as you stared at each other. Jake broke the silence with a monotone voice "I wont tell anyone if you wont."
You nodded your head "Deal."
Slowly, both of your lips twitched, before curling into smiles as you laughed with each other. Continuing down the path, you still had a grasp of his arm.
"Oh, by the way." He began, softly "They went down the left path."
You paused in your step as you looked over at him "Oh, you dick."
He chuckled "What can I say, I wanted to be alone with you."
You rolled your eyes "Or you're lying and are trying to hide it by being your usual cocky self."
He shrugged his head before he spoke softly with a smile "Either way I get what I want."
Your ears were still burning, as you felt flustered at his apparent advances. You kept quiet as you continued through the haunted house, aware that another scare could come at any moment.
Even as prepared for it as you hoped you were, when a man jumped out of the darkness with a fake chainsaw, you screamed and turned to Jake, who let out a shocked yell as well.
When the man ran away with a wicked laugh, you let out a groan. After a moment of silence, you looked up, realizing you were still clasped onto Jake's shirt, and his arms were holding you against him.
When his eyes locked onto yours, you saw him about to speak.
"Shut up." You said first.
He smirked "Never."
"I'll tell everyone you scream like a little girl." You challenged.
You saw his smirk disappear. "I do not. "
"Do too."
"Do not."
At this moment, Jake spotted a small group of actors running up behind you. Quickly pulling you close to him just as they screamed and ran past the two of you. You flinched as this happened, burying your head in his chest for a moment until the actors were gone.
When they were, you slowly pulled your head away and looked up, feeling a small rush of embarrassment, knowing Jake would be staring down at you with a cocky smirk.
You were mildly surprised though, when you met his eyes, and he was looking at you with a soft smile, rather than a teasing one. Heat rose up your neck, as you also realized your faces were not very far apart, noses almost brushing, lips noticeably close.
As you gently pulled away, you mumbled out "Thank you."
His smile widened a bit "Any time."
You silently continued down the corridor, your heart pounding, and ears still burning. Rounding a corner, you were met with a thin hallway with holes in the walls. You new the purpose was to be unable to avoid the hands that would surely come through.
You let out a soft sigh, as you prepared yourself. Feeling Jake lean in close to you, he whispered "Want me to hold your hand?"
Rolling your eyes lightly, you turned your head back to face him "Why don't you go first this time? Or are you too scared?"
He smirked at you, challenging you with his gaze. Stepping past you, he purposefully keep his face close to yours as he slipped past with small smirk.
Watching as he made his way down the hall, you smiled to yourself as you began to follow him. You both let out gasps of surprise, when as you expected, various hands reached through to grab at you. You kicked your legs as you felt things brush your ankles. You were right behind Jake, silently hoping he would go faster.
Finally getting out of the hallway, you let out a relieved sigh, before you looked down another darkened room. Realizing there was still more, you let out a groan and lifted your hands in defeat.
"Oh come on, how big is this place?"
Jake chuckled, but you could tell he was getting tired of this as well. But he covered it with a smile "What? Not enjoying your time alone with me?"
"What is there to enjoy? Your constant cockiness? Your teasing and jokes?" You replied with light sarcasm.
Jake stepped closer to you, challenging you with a flirty smile. "Oh, I thought you might be enjoying grabbing onto me when you're scared. You know, the comfort of being in my arms."
"I don't need you to comfort me." You replied, trying to sound bold, but the hammering of your heart as he slowly crept closer to you was had to ignore.
"No?"
"No."
Just as you spoke, a loud clap of thunder erupted through the room, paired with the sound of screams, laughter, and flashing lights.
As you jumped in surprise and fear, Jake lunged forward, ignoring his own shock. Grabbing your face he pressed a sudden and surprisingly passionate kiss to your lips, causing you to freeze in surprise.
When the noises faded and you were left in silence again, Jake pulled away from you. His eyes met yours, as he left his hands on either side of your face.
Finally finding your voice, you spoke softly, clearly confused. "Why did you do that?"
A faint smile pulled at his lips as he shrugged his head lightly "I was trying to distract you from the jump-scare. And I wanted to."
You blinked as you racked your brain for a reply. Pulling away a bit, Jake let go of your face, allowing you to step back. You could see the notes of anxiety in his gaze, wondering if you were going to hit him, tell him off, or even just walk away.
Flinching as the sound of distant screaming could be heard, you recognized the voices being from the rest of the group. Your gaze locked with Jake's and you opened your mouth to speak, but your voice caught in your throat as Jake reached up and moved a stray piece of hair from your face.
"Don't worry, I wont tell them. What happens in the haunted house, stays in the haunted house."
You eyed him for a moment "Not something you want to brag about?" There was a hint of amusement in your voice, that made Jake relax a bit.
He shrugged lightly "I'd love to brag about kissing you, but, I'd also like to keep it to myself. I can brag about it next time."
You rose your brow "Next time? You're that confident I'll let you kiss me again?"
He smiled before he gently grabbed you by your arms turning you and pushing you to walk through the next room.
Leaning in, he whispered, his lips brushing against your ear "I am."
Making it through the last room with only one loud scare that made you flinch. You exited the last door, seeing the rest of the group standing around outside.
When they saw you and Jake, they all let out a cacophony of laughs, and cheers.
"Where they hell did you two end up?!" Coyote asked as he walked up to Jake.
You eyed and pointed at Payback, "Maybe next time you go down a path, you should make sure everyone goes down the same one." You said with an annoyed tone.
The group snickered, understanding exactly where they lost you.
"Oops, my bad." Payback mumbled as he patted your shoulder.
"I hope Jake didn't make it too unbearable for you." Phoenix teased as she turned away, all of you beginning to make your way out.
You looked over at Jake, to find him already looking at you.
"Unbearable isn't the word I'd use." You said softly, but loud enough for him to hear.
Turning to follow the others out of the exit area, you felt someone fall into step beside you. You didn't need to look to know it was Jake.
Feeling his hands brush yours, clearly on purpose, you spared a glance at him. As he caught your eyes, you saw the knowing look behind his gaze, as he repressed a smile.
You repressed your own smile as you looked away from him, the events of the haunted house replaying in your mind. Maybe you didn't regret coming after all.

Today's 13 Days of Halloween drawing is a sketchpage for a new character in the Monster Mash universe, a gargoyle I adopted from @sweetbunanarchy!
He's a teacher by day, but at night...? He gets up to some fun! I'm unsure if Mr Gargy is going to officially be his name, it's a little silly and he at least needs a first name too.. But until I decide, it's all I've been calling him as I work on this, lol!
He's probably goonna end up dating the slime man Darla adopted, so look forward to this development. :)

I'll Keep You Safe
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plot: When staying in a cabin with the boys, you get scared after some scary stories are told. But no worries! Yunho is here to comfort you (and tease you).
Pairing: Jeong Yunho x Gn!Reader
Prompt: 'Telling scary stories around a campfire' Requested by: @tumbleboof
Warnings: Creepy vibes. Somewhat suggestive content.
Words: 2.2k
Tumblr media
You should have known going camping with the guys would lead to something like this. Sitting around a campfire in the middle of some woods as Jongho told a scary story. It was exactly what you should expect, but you hated it anyways.
Too many noises in the woods around you were reaching your ears. While the others were focused on Jongho's story, you couldn't help but focus on not only his words, but what was around you as well.
It was as if the woods were reflecting his story. Or maybe your mind was just tricking you.
He'd mention the man in black stalking toward the unsuspecting main character. And you swore you heard footsteps just beyond the trees.
"The whisper's sounded as though they were coming from every direction."
As if on queue you heard a whistling wind in the branches making goosebumps crawl up your arms.
While your focus bounced between all of the things creeping you out, someone else's focus was on you. From beside you, Yunho peered over at you. He could see the light bouncing of your leg as you anxiously rung your hands.
Your eyes were on the darkened woods behind the others, and you clearly looked spooked.
As soon as the others started telling scary stories, he felt you stiffen beside him. He thought the fact you got so easily scared was both cute and endearing, but he also felt a bit bad.
Taking the opportunity, he casually move closer to you, until his leg pressed against yours. He felt you stop shaking your leg, as it seemed to bring you out of whatever over-thinking trance you had been in. Moving his hand to his knee, his moved his pinky finger as he gently caressed your leg, comforting you and reminding you of his presence.
Yunho new his intention was to comfort you, but even he knew the action was almost romantic.
You had the same thought as you were pulled back to reality at his close proximity. You couldn't help the anxious fluttering of your heart increasing at his movements.
You knew he was trying to comfort you, as he always did. He would tease you and drive you crazy, but he was always there for you. But in this moment, as his finger began gently rubbing your leg, sending shock-waves through you, you couldn't help but wish he would let you suffer.
You and Yunho were close, best-friends even, but sometimes he would do things that made it seem like you were dating. The others often found themselves confused as to whether or not you were, and just hiding it from them. But they stopped asking eventually when they figured out neither of you really had an answer either.
You and Yunho were just that. You and Yunho.
Your thoughts were brought back from wandering when Jongho suddenly stood up with a yell, making all of you jump back in surprise. You had let out a soft yelp as you jumped leaning into Yunho who automatically wrapped his arm around your shoulder. Laughing as his own adrenaline coursed through him.
He looked over at you and grinned, squeezing your shoulder a bit. You caught his eye and saw the teasing gleam.
You shook your head and whispered "Shut up" before he could say anything, making him laugh again as he pulled you closer to him momentarily before letting you go.
Just as you finally really had enough of the scary stories, Hongjoong announced that it was getting late and everyone should head to bed. You felt relief wash over you and you shot a look of thanks to Hongjoong. Noticing, he smiled before starting to help Seonghwa put out the fire.
You stood up and stretched, looking towards the darkened path back towards the cabin. You were not looking forward to that walk. You knew you had to make sure you didn't get left to walk it alone.
Yunho of course, was not going to allow this anyway. After the fire was out and all but you, Yunho, San and Seonghwa were left. You and Yunho began heading back, as Seonghwa and San folded up and stacked the chairs.
As tired as you were, you were on guard as you and Yunho walked back to the cabin. Every shaking branch or fluttering bush sent a jolt through you.
Yunho noticed it every time, and repressed a laugh. The way you moved to walk closer to him made his heart skip as he grinned to himself.
As your presence scared a bird, sending it into a fluttering flight, you gasped softly before letting out an annoyed laugh. You really hated how jumpy you could get.
Yunho chuckled as he reached out and took your hand in his. You looked over at him as your heart jumped.
"Don't worry I'll keep you safe."
You glared playfully at him and he laughed.
"You're so jumpy. You'd be a rabbit if you were an animal."
You pouted and stuck you tongue out at him, knowing his statement was accurate enough. You glanced down at his hand as it wrapped completely around yours.
Yunho glanced over at you, seeing you stare down at your intertwined hands, and he felt his chest clench. Were you thinking and feeling the same things as him?
Hearing a yell come back from the campfire site you jumped with a soft gasp before you groaned as you heard Seonghwa and San laughing.
Yunho laughed as he tugged you closer to him. "They're just messing around back there, don't worry."
You sighed, "I know."
Your heart was hammering in your chest, and though you knew it was partially because of the creepy forest and adrenaline inducing night, you also knew it was because of being alone with Yunho.
As the cabin came into view, you walked faster, tugging Yunho along with you.
"Come on I don't wanna be out here any longer."
Yunho followed you, grinning happily as his own heart fluttered.
Letting out a sigh of relief as you made it back into the cabin, you made your way to your room, aware that Yunho was still following you. Turning towards him as you got to your door, he smiled down at you and you felt butterflies swirl in your stomach.
"You gonna be okay now?"
You rolled your eyes and ignored the growing warmth in your chest. "Yes Yunho. The stories may have creeped me out, but I'm not a child."
He took a step closer to you as he peered down into your eyes, you felt your heartbeat pick up as he leaned closer. He stared into your eyes with a small smirk.
"If you insist. But, if you happen to get scared, you know where to find me."
You rolled your eyes, barely able to repress the smile on your face. "I'll be fine."
He giggled softy before placing a soft kiss to your forehead. "I'll leave my door unlocked."
You rolled your eyes again as he walked off with a smirk. Heading into your room, you let out a deep breath. Why did he get so much enjoyment out of teasing you?
Even if it was a joke, it wasn't long before you were considering Yunho's offer. As the cabin grew quiet, and everyone lied down to sleep, the wind outside picked up, and the atmosphere of the cabin seemed to change.
Every noise sounded like whispers or footsteps. The creaking of the floors made your eyes snap open as you stared at your door. The tree branches against the windows made shadows across the room that scared you more than once.
You knew you were safe, but you couldn't calm yourself enough to fall asleep. You blamed Jongho and his stupid stories.
Knowing the teasing from Yunho would be relentless if you actually went to his room, you sat up and turned on your light instead. You stared out at the window, trying to focus on each noise and remind yourself of their true nature.
The creaks in the hallway was the aging house swaying with the wind, the shadows were the tree branches, the whispers weren't whispers, but actually the wind creeping in through the window sill.
Hearing another creak in the hallway, your breath hitched for a second.
The creaks in the hallway is just the old house.
You heard another creak, a bit closer.
Or maybe someone going to the bathroom.
Another creak.
You swallowed as you told yourself, the ghost stories were just stories. No one said anything about this place being haunted. It was fine. It was nothing.
Another creak, and a tap on your door.
Your heart seemed to stop as you held your breath. Was that a knock? You couldn't tell if it had purpose to it or not.
"Y/n?"
You felt all the tension in your body wash away as you let out the breath you had been holding. Getting up, you walked over to the door before pulling it open to reveal Yunho.
"Yunho you scared the shit out of me, why are you creeping around?"
He repressed a laugh, trying to keep his voice down. "I'm sorry. I just went to the bathroom and saw your light was on. I wanted to see if you were okay. Even I gotta admit the cabin is a bit creepy."
You smiled as you felt butterflies again. He just wanted to check in on you.
You smiled a bit wider and he rose his brow. "Wasn't I the one who was supposed to come to you if I got scared?"
He continue to whisper but his tone was firm. "I'm not scared!"
"Oh?"
He chuckled under his breath. "I really just wanted to see if you were okay."
As much as you wanted to continue to tease him, you gave in.
You shook your head. "I'm totally creeped out."
He chuckled as he pushed your door open a bit and walked in. You watched him, a bit confused as he looked around your room. He walked over to the window and nodded his head,
"You're room is creepier than mine."
"Oh great, good to know."
As he walked over to your bed, you watched with growing bewilderment as he pulled the covers back.
"But you got the bigger bed."
He groaned softly as he climbed into your bed, and you blinked a few times.
"What are you doing?"
"Getting comfortable."
"What, am I supposed to go to your room because it's less creepy?" You asked softly as you walked over to the bed.
He smiled up at you before grabbing your hand and pulling you into the bed.
You let out a soft grunt from the sudden impact on the bed.
"No."
You let out a bewildered laugh as he covered you with the blankets and pulled you into his chest.
"I'll just stay with you tonight."
Trying to ignore the intense beating of your heart and the nervousness filling you, you teased him.
"Are you sure you're not the one who got scared?"
He squeezed you closer to him in retaliation and you groaned before pinching him. "Yunho!"
Your muffled voice caused him to chuckle and release you enough so you could look up at him, you felt you breath hitch as you found him staring down at you with a fond smile.
"Maybe it's just an excuse."
"What is?"
"Sleeping in your bed so you aren't scared." His tone become soft and serious and you could feel his heavy beating heart in his chest as he held you close.
"And what is it an excuse for?"
He moved his arms from your shoulders to your waist as he lowered himself so his face was aligned with yours. His eyes studied your face, lingering on your lips for a moment before he met your eyes again.
"Wanting to be with you. And wanting to hold you."
You bit the inside of your lip as you tried to control your breathing. Gently you played with the collar of his shirt and he smiled softly at the action.
"You don't need an excuse to do that."
Your words made Yunho's heart leap as he repressed a grin.
"I don't?"
You shook your head softly and he chuckled, pressing his forehead against yours, making you grin.
As your eyes met and locked in an intense knowing gaze, Yunho slowly leaned forward, before his lips met yours. The kiss was soft and sweet, and brief.
When he pulled away he met your eyes again as if making sure it was alright. As you smiled bashfully at him, he leaned in again, kissing you a bit harder and pulling you closer to him. One of his hands cupped your cheek as he deepened the kiss.
You let your body sink into his as you kissed him back, your hand clenching his shirt tighter.
As a hard gust of wind caused the window pane to bang against the window sill, you and Yunho jumped in surprise, pulling away from each other.
You locked eyes and laughed as your hearts raced. Yunho reached across you and turned off the light before he got comfortable again, pulling you into his chest after he pressed another soft kiss to your lips.
You rested your head against his chest before whispering, "I'm not scared anymore. You make me feel safe."
Feeling the way his heart beat changed at your words you grinned.
He wrapped his arms around you a bit tighter before pressing a kiss to your head. "I'll always keep you safe."
"Even from ghosts?" You asked suddenly and he chuckled.
"Yeah, even from ghosts."
xx End xx
Got a bit carried away with the second half and forgot it was supposed to be a Halloween story lmao.

This small wooden figure of a bat was created in Oaxaco, Mexico.  Oaxaco is famous for its folk art, which is created in wood, metal or clay, and finished in bright, vibrant colors.  When the folk art “boom” grew in the 1980s, these colorful pieces became highly prized as artistic pieces to be found in homes and museums.

"I can't believe you actually talked us into this." Eddie said with a sigh and shake of his head.
"Come on it'll be fun." Buck said cheerfully as he pulled flashlights out of his backpack and began passing them out.
"I don't know if I would classify walking around an old abandoned hospital as fun." Hen said as she leaned against the car.
"You all said you weren't really feeling the holiday spirit right? This'll help."
"Yeah, it'll help me have nightmares." You mumbled from beside Eddie, who smiled down at you in amusement.
You looked around the area, eyeing the tall trees scattered around. You had driven nearly thirty minutes out of the city to get here, and the sun was setting quicker than you liked.
"And you're certain we're not trespassing Buck?" Athena said with a pointed look at him.
You were surprised she even showed up, but you had an underlying feeling it was because she was worried something bad might happen.
He nodded his head "A friend owns the property, trust me, he said it was fine we were here tonight."
"Maybe Buck's right, we all need a little holiday spirit." Bobby spoke.
He was the obvious skeptic, but man, did that man love a team bonding exercise.
"Don't people usually say that about Christmas?" Chimney asked
Buck handed him a flashlight "You need Halloween spirit too. Okay, come on."
Turning on the flashlight Buck gave you as you all headed into the large building, you looped your arm through Eddie's.
Looking around the lobby of the building, it gave off an eerie feeling. Old chairs littered the room, some toppled over, some broken. It was cold, and dark, and every footstep echoed down the nearby hall.
"Creepy." You muttered as a chill ran down your spine.
As you walked past the lobby and into the old emergency room, you eyed an old hospital bed, sheet's still present, but covered in a dark rusty stain.
"Why did this place shut down again?" You asked softly, feeling goosebumps cover your arms.
"And when? This place looks ancient." Hen added on.
"It was shut down in the 50's due to a bunch of patients dying in odd circumstances. Also a lot of patients went missing."
"Excuse me?" Athena asked with raised interest "There better me more to that story."
"Oh yeah. Three doctors ended up confessing to murdering a bunch of patients. They did experiments on them and everything."
"What the-"
Hen's sentence was cut off as a loud bang sounded from the floor above you. You flinched, gripping your flashlight tightly in one hand, and Eddie's arm in the other.
"Okay guys, be careful, there could be squatters here." Bobby said, voice filled with concern.
"Or ghosts." Buck added.
"Don't worry, I've got my taser on me." Athena said
"How would that help with ghosts?" Buck looked over at her.
She rose her brow at him, and he shrugged "Seriously?"
"What?"
"It may not help with ghosts, but it'll sure as hell, help with some real madman who might attack us." She said with a tone that already said she was done with Buck.
"Oh, yeah. Right."
You scoffed in amusement, as you looked around. As your eyes cast over a nearby room, you jumped as you thought you saw something dart away from the door.
"What?" Eddie asked, causing the others to look over.
"I thought I saw something in there." You pointed your flashlight into the door, while speaking softly.
Athena walked over, quickly pushing open and the door and peaking in.
She looked at you and shook her head "Nothing."
"Or something." Evan said.
Yours and Athena's head snapped towards him as she shrugged "What? Could be!"
"You okay?" Eddie whispered to you.
You nodded as you tore our eyes away from the empty room, your heart pounding. "Yeah, it was probably just my shadow."
Eddie could hear the doubt in your tone, he squeezed your arm lightly as you continued to walk through the hospital.
Your whole group came to a sudden halt when you heard the clear sound of conversation coming from down the hall. As you stopped and listened the voices ceased.
"Those were definitely voices."
"Are you sure there aren't homeless people here?" Chimney asked as he and Hen clung to one another.
"My friend said they never get people in here anymore. It's too scary for even homeless people to stay in."
"That's comforting" You muttered.
Creeping closer, you approached the cafeteria, the room the voices came from.
As Buck peaked in, he looked back at you, clearly shaken. Pushing open the door, he spoke "There's no one in here."
As you all entered into the room, you looked around. A few tables and chairs remained, some papers and trash scattered on the floor.
"This is definitley where the voices were coming from." Bobby said, and you noted the uneasiness of his tone.
"Is anyone here with us?" Buck asked aloud.
"What are you doing?!" Hen asked with bewilderment.
Buck looked over at her and raised his arms "What? I'm communicating."
"Could you not?" Chimney said in a monotone voice.
"It's why we're here dude."
"You said we were gonna check out a creepy hospital, not go ghost hunting Buck." Eddie said.
Hearing shuffling footsteps coming from the hall, you all turned with surprise. Your breath hitched in your throat as you and Eddie stepped back, further away from the doors.
Athena stepped forward, shining her light through the window.
The footsteps got louder and louder before they stopped just outside the cafeteria doors. As Bobby and Athena pushed the doors open and looked down the hall they stared with clearly shocked faces.
"There's no one, right?" Buck asked, a small amount of smugness in his tone.
Athena and Bobby looked in at you all and you could tell from their faces, that Buck was right.
"I hate this." You said sotly.
Eddie nodded "Me too." He leaned down a bit "But I got you, okay?"
You nodded softly as he pressed a soft kiss to your temple.
"Okay, let's go." Buck said as he headed towards the hall.
"Where are you going now?" Eddie asked with obvious exasperation.
"Upstairs?"
You all sang out a chorus of no's, and no way's, and Buck pouted. "Come on guys! We came all the way out here."
Chimney sighed and shook his head "Fine, I'll go, but just because I know if no one does, you'll go by yourself."
"Yeah, okay, you two go have fun, we'll stay down here." Hen said with a determined voice.
"I'll go too, who knows what trouble you two might get into up there." Bobby said as he followed Chimney and Buck towards the staircase.
"Yeah, I'm staying right here." Hen said as she sat down at one of the tables.
You let out a along breath as you looked around the dark and creepy cafeteria.
"Come on." Eddie said as he lead you to sit down as well.
"What could lead doctors to do such horrible things to their patients?" You asked after a few moments of eerie silence.
Hen shook her head "Evil people who think they can become Gods."
Hearing a thud from the furthest side of the cafeteria, you all flinched, shining your lights around. Seeing nothing, you all let out breaths. You weren't sure if it was better to see something, or nothing, neither option was great.
You held onto Eddie's arm a little bit tighter as your eyes darted around the room.
After nearly twenty minutes, and too many unexplained noises, you all began to grow antsy.
"Alright, I'm gong to go get them, it's been too damn long." Athena said as she stood.
You all stood as well, knowing it was best you all went together. As you walked out into the hallway, you stopped and listening, hearing nothing.
"Its way too quiet in here." Hen mumbled.
As you all walked towards the staircase, your hand was tight in Eddie's. You felt your chest clenched tightly as your heart refused to slow down.
"AHHH"
You all yelled out in fear and surprise as Buck and Chimney jumped down from the staircase yelling.
After a chorus of insults and yelling, Buck and Chimney chuckled and rose up their hands "Sorry, sorry, couldn't help it."
Bobby came down from behind them, shaking his head, but clearly repressing a laugh. Athena have him a pointed look and he raised his hands up and shrugged.
"You guys wont believe what happened up there." Buck began.
"Oh my God, honestly it was so creepy."
"And I got it all on camera! Voices, banging, a door opened by itself. Even Bobby couldn't explain any of it."
You all looked at Bobby who shrugged "I honestly can't."
"That's great, I'm so happy for you, you had an experience. Can we leave now?" Hen said, with clear frustration.
"Aw come on, just a little longer" Buck asked.
As you all opened your mouths to protest, you all froze, hearing a loud squeaking coming from further down the hall. As all your heads turned, you looked down the darkened hallway, as the squeaking got louder.
From an open doorway, you all watched with bated breaths as an empty wheelchair rolled out into the hallway, turning to face you all, before stopping. All your mouths were agape, as your hearts were beating heavy and fast.
"Aw, hell no." Athena muttered. "What the fu-" Chimney began. "Nope." You said as you tugged Eddies arm.
Getting exactly what you wanted, he began backing away. Patting Buck on the arm, he nodded "Sorry Buck, you can stay if you want, but we're leaving."
"I second that."
"Yeah, screw this."
Buck watched as all of you began quickly rushing to leave before he glanced at the wheelchair one more time, before turning to follow all of you, yelling out "That was awesome!"

Howling Fields - Day 1: Calrum Mines
Tumblr media
Day 2
Boots scuffed against the dirt path like cow hooves on dusty prairies. The small puffs of kicked-up dust accompanied the laughter and chatter of the tourists like chimes in the wind throughout the deciduous forest.
With the setting summer sun, Tour Guide Mike called out to the group.
“Alright, everyone! Pull out your headlights, we're about twenty minutes from Calrum Mine. Once there we are planning to head straight in for tonight’s hike.”
You, like everyone else, nodded, moving your backpack to one shoulder and pulling out the large headlamp. However, instead of placing the device on your forehead, it was hung around your neck. Ready to be used once the mine was reached.
As your bag was readjusted to the most comfortable orientation, Alfred hollered for you. The blond’s large arm waved like a golden retriever’s tail as he invited you to leave the many tourists and join your small group of friends.
Rolling your eyes, you jog over. Following the flow of the moving herd, you stayed close to its outskirts to mingle with your friends.
Now whole again, your friends murmured in hushed tones. Gossiping about the stories whispered about the once illustrious Calrum Mines. Alfred spoke of monstrous entities that were known to rip the greedy apart. Leaving nothing more than a couple of bones and blood splatters across the scene. The green-eyed Arthur mentioned the strange tracks and symbols known to line the walls like caveman artwork that had been rumored to cause madness or were remnants of magic. Michelle, with her dark olive skin tone, chirped up in twisted excitement about having heard that many people felt that the animals of the area became more aggressive the deeper the mine went. Almost like some savage spirit flew out and took hold of them.
You chuckled not believing any of it, shaking your head like a coworker wanting to keep the peace but annoyed at the antics around them. That’s when your gaze drifted to the left.
The normally, proud Yao Wang was quiet. His head was down and his shoulders were tense as if he wanted to shout and run. His eyes, however, were sharp and reflected red in the orange light like a hot iron.
“Yao.” You said, a hand on his arm. “What’s wrong.”
He didn’t answer, only tightening his grip on the bag straps. However, your worried tone caused the group to turn to the silent man.
Each looked to the other and offered to listen to Yao, but it only caused him to tremble.
“C’mon, dude!” Alfred pushed his arm around Yao in a one-armed hug. “What’s gotcha so scared? We’re not even in the mines yet.”
It was like striking hot iron with a heavy mallet, the sparks of Yao’s anger caused Alfred to fall on his butt. Arthur to look wide-eyed and Michelle to whimper and hide behind you. Its ring caused Mike and the flock to turn to the group.
“What’s going on?” asked Mike, having left the front to calm the flames.
“Nothing.” You answered, eyes bouncing between the Yao and Alfred. “They just got a bit too rough.”
Mike raised a dark brow as he stared down at your group. A deep frown overtook his features. “You're adults, I shouldn't have to say behave, because these mines are dangerous. If you can’t understand that, then you won’t be allowed in.”
You all nodded. A grim look on each of your faces now that your fun had soured.
Mike uttered a simple good as he walked back to the front. He called for everyone to keep moving and that the mines were about ten minutes away.
As they moved, you glanced back to Yao and fell in step with him as the group continued.
“Do you wanna talk about it?”
He sighed and turned his head away for a moment, before releasing another sigh, allowing all the tension to leave with the breath.
“What do you know about the mines, (Y/N)?”
Blinking, you uttered. “Not much.”
“My great-grandfather was killed there.”
The shocked oh that left your mouth felt more instinctual rather than intentional. It made Yao chuckle, yet it didn’t sound like it should have come from him. It should have come from a much older man, someone who had seen centuries of evil rather than two and a half decades worth he had lived through.
“Let me tell you what I know about this damned place.”
...
In 1910, large golden veins were discovered in Locust Grove. The settlers described it as large torrents flowing with the precious metal, they believed that there would never be an end to its powerful current.
Day after day the early settlers gathered the gold and grew wealthy. Word traveled about the newly discovered riches like bird calls. Everyone was chirping about how the tiny town was beginning to change into that of a thriving metropolis. That change brought a couple of things with it; like the promise of higher-paying jobs, luxury items, and the possibility of controlling your destiny with a single pick strike.
All those good things were so tempting.
My great-grandfather, Bowen, had fallen for it, just like so many other souls that had been devoured by that sadistic snake of greed.
He took my grandmother, and her mother, and moved them from Xi’an. Convinced them to join him on a boat and then a train for shining opportunities.
All the while ignoring the rust underneath the golden foil.
At first, their arrival was typical for most immigrants. A fixer-upper for their first home and the hard labor that they all endured.
Predictably Bowen went to the mines whenever he finished work. My grandmother often spoke of how he would return with the sun to only sleep a couple of hours before his next shift. His form was often caked in coal like it was a second skin, the pickaxe in hand scrapped along the dirt, creating small clouds in its wake. His steps were so slow that grandmother thought he would drop into a dead sleep as soon as he crossed the threshold.
For a couple of months, this was the pattern of the house. It was peaceful and somewhat comforting to the young family.
That was until the first attack.
Bowen and another man had found the victim. Blood had been splattered along the cavern as a red paint tube had exploded. Body parts were strewn around like starving dogs had quartered him before chewing each piece in their private corner. Protecting it from the rest of the pack, fearful of it being taken. Yet, each bite mark and chew pattern didn’t match an animal. It was something never seen before.
The victim was never identified, and for a couple of weeks, the mines were left alone. The fear of being next only worksed for so long.  Eventually, the calls for riches pulled everyone back like flies to a spider's web. Though, this time people chose not to go in alone.
The promise of safety in numbers was nothing more than a cruel lie.
More men were found ripped apart. Each one in a different way, almost like it was a different animal. And just like before, this one could never be identified.
It caused a similar stir, but the pattern was the same as after the first. Even if there were rumors about monsters seemed truer with each new death, no one could stay away forever.
After a year of the same cycle, Bowen’s death was the first of its kind.
My poor grandmother witnessed it all.
She had woken up early that day to greet Bowen. It was the only time that she and her father could truly talk. Occasionally bond a little due to the tender moments the two would have.
This morning was different. The fog rolled in coating the homestead like brackish water that hid the tiny, silver fish from the barracuda. It felt like hours to my grandmother as she gazed from the window. Watching for the silhouette of her father. Small sparks of joy matched the rhythm of her bouncing heels as the minutes felt like hours.
The sound of scratching gravel caught her ear. Her eyes strained to make out the shape of her father, but as he faded into view his faint form felt off to my young grandmother.
He was running. Though only one of his arms was moving, the other seemed to be tucked against the opposite ribs. The crunching rocks were accompanied by a low rumble. It at first sounded like distant thunder, but the closer her father came, the more it changed. It became more animalistic, and dog-like as the growls started and stopped with the panting of a chasing silhouette following behind.
She told me that the second shadow appeared to be a blurry mix of man and dog. Running on four legs, with deadly speed. Its head wasn't an animal's but matched a human's.  Two large points stuck out from the top and something large extended from its back.
Immediately, grandmother understood her father was about to die.
She rushed to the door, screaming for her mother as she ran. Throwing the old, wooden door open, she called for him to run faster. Pleaded with him to get inside. Begging for him to survive.
But it wasn’t enough.
He tripped. Fell to the ground with a grunt, feet away from their porch. Before my grandmother could think to move forward, the beast pounced upon her father. Many of its details were obscured by the fog, but something in its mouth glinted in the morning light as it tore into the junction of his shoulder and neck.
The ruby liquid poured out. The wound gushed with the ruby essence of life as he howled in pain and trashed. Pushing against the beast he cried for my grandmother to shut the door. Pleaded for her not to watch as it pulled him deep into the fog.
She never closed the door. Her mother did.
In shock, the two listened to his fading screams and the rips of flesh. Tears silently dropped as they held each other.
When the sounds stopped, my grandmother said that there was one final howl before they felt that they were somewhat safe.
Assuming the beast was satisfied, her mother decided to look for her husband. Despite my grandmother's protests and tight grip, her mother promised to come back. To find her father and bring him home.
Tearfully, grandmother relented and allowed her mother to search for him in the mist.
Time had never been so still for a child.
When her mother returned, the refusal to meet her eyes told her everything.
She was right, he was gone. Ripped to shreds like the miners before him.
Except this time, someone could give a description. She could save someone else's father.
But reality doesn't work like that.
The law’s involvement didn’t do much for my grandmother. Her and her mother’s story was labeled as a result of psychological shock. They reasoned that the beast was a mere slip of insanity from the gruesome scene. Their hysteria came from the sight of some hunter sending his dog on Bawen.
How pathetic.
If they had listened, then many cases could have been solved. My great-grandfather, her father, could have gotten justice.
But no.
They chose to classify it as a damn serial killer. One that they never found, nor any evidence of.
My great-grandmother decided not too long after to move her and my grandmother out of that town. Though, they never forgot. Haunted by that night, they chose to pass the knowledge of that night down to my mother and then to me.”
...
Yao took a deep breath as he finished his tale. His shoulders drooped as the flames of irritation died with the sharing of his burden. Slowly, his chocolate eyes met with yours.
“That’s why I didn’t want to come, but” He looked to the rest of your friends frolicking as the mine entrance came into sight. “I would feel worse if someone got hurt when I had that ability to do something.”
You nodded and allowed the comfortable silence to rest between the two of you as you slowly joined the stopped tour group.
Together, you and Yao huddled with the rest of your friends as Guide Mike sounded off rules like a drill sergeant. Most of the rules belonged to the realm of common sense; like don’t touch any of the animals or bugs you see, keep your voice low when speaking to prevent an echo, and stay in line, unless told otherwise.
As he finished, Mike clapped his hands together before pointing them straight out to the group. “ALRIGHT LINE UP!”
Like sheep following a Judas goat, everyone aligned. It was perfect and straighter than an arrow fashioned out of pure silver.
Unfortunately, you couldn’t appreciate it too much because your group was on the outskirts of the tourist flock. This meant, that even out of those who cared for you, it was obvious who the the caboose was.
As slow as a rusted steam engine, the train of people began their descent into the cavernous mine. The atmosphere changed from a cool, summer evening to a frosty autumn morning the further down the group traveled. The darkness stalked forward to greet them like friendly black cats but was kept at bay by the brightness of their headlamps. Heavy, dusty, worn beams appeared occasionally, making the hand-carved tunnel look more like a long road of portals.
The large group gradually came to a stop at an intersection. Mike voiced that the line, for a moment, could round out around him.
Once everyone had resituated themselves, Mike began to speak about the Calrum mines. His voice, not loud or overtly powerful, carried like he was. He mentioned its origin and how quickly it changed the nearby town for the better.
You weren’t surprised when you saw Yao tensed up again. The unspoken anger at the praises of the found riches and downplaying of the murders carried out within and beyond.
Before you could reach your hand out to Yao, a loud huff caused you to swivel to the left.
There Arthur stood, his emerald eyes rolled as Mike continued his history lesson about the mine. He shifted his stance for a moment, before repeating so again. The longer Mike talked, the more his fingers tapped against his crossed arms, it wasn’t long before both hands moved like a pianist against ivory keys.
You look between Yao and Arthur one more time, before deciding to move towards the irate, blond Brit.
“Arthur!” You whisper, voice barely heard amongst the stones. “What’s got you so upset?”
Another huff came from Arthur as his gaze turned to you. “He’s not mentioning all the rumors, nor the supernatural occurrences that happened.”
“I’m sure he’ll get to it eventually.”
Arthur sighed and muttered that he only came for the magic. He plopped his back against one of the wooden beams.
The moment his back collided with the support structure; a loud crack resounded through the quiet space. Its roar echoed and froze everyone stiff. For a moment, it was silent, and all eyes were glued to Arthur.
He coughed into his hand as a wildfire spread across his cheeks. “Sorry every-“
The world shook. It quaked like a child afraid of consequences. Rocks began to tumble as large crevices began to open along the walls. Loose dirt fell around them.
“RUN!!” Mike screamed. “EVERYONE BACK TO THE ENTRANCE!!”
Everyone moved in a panic. You were shoved and bumped, pushed to the ground. The stampede of feet forced you to curl inward. Tears streamed down your face as your friends were screaming your name.
As their cries were getting further, a hand grabbed your elbow. You turned to see Yao pulling you up. His grip was tight as he dragged you forward. His pace was quick and steady as he dodged the debris in the collapsing tunnel.
Another harsh crack sounded from above. The beast of a canyon seemed to be hunting you and Yao as it raced along the ceiling.
The exit was in sight when the tunnel roared again. Large boulders began to close off the entrance. Amid the cacophony and closing exit, you recognized that the slivers of space were getting smaller, the rock piles were getting higher, and Yao was getting slower.
As fear’s coils tightened around your heart, you placed both hands on Yao’s back and launched him forward.
His body scraped against the rocks as he fell to the outside ground. He flipped back, ready to run back for you. Crystal tears streamed down his face like terrified rivers.
That’s when your world collapsed.

🎃 You were budding up with Epel as you and your friends of firsts years were out for this Halloween
🎃 And Epel had said that you should all go over to his village where they have fun Halloween activities
🎃 And with the words games and prizes you all agreed getting ready to set a date
🎃 And funny enough you were the first to be told about the cold weather this time of year as Epel wanted to make sure you wouldn't be cold,"Thanks Epel but i would have been fine either way" "I know just wanted to make sure"
🎃 The day came as you and your group of friends went to say hi to Epel's family and went on your way to play games
🎃 Epel knew thia would be a perfect time to show you how manly he can be as he tried to win games and get the most prizes (you all had a bet who would have the most prizes)
🎃 Everyone had a few prizes in hand and as you all looked around for more games Epel spotted one of hia all time favorites, Appel Bobbing
🍬 Epel made you and the rest all tried to bob for an apple as again he wanted to show off to you and all your friends
🍬 Once it was your turn Epel mostly hyped you up, the others did as well, and sadly you didn't get any
🍬 But now it was Epels turn and he ended up getting an appel along side Jack, Deuce, and Sebek (You and Ace ended up yelling that they rigged your guys games, being sore losers)
👻 The next day you all traveled back NRC as you all stood the night with his family
👻 You thanked Epel for an amazing tim as you said you would want to go back there
👻 Epel smiled and was grateful knowing you had a fun time
👻 But before you walked off you decided to give Epel a nice thank you present, "I know you are not big on stuff animals but this was the only one i could get you for you", you handed him a nice stuffed (Your Choice)
👻 Epel was shocked as he wasn't expecting anything but was grateful non the less But he looked up at you and thanked you with his sweet smile and with hearing Vil coming and not wanting to be caught you ran off
👻 Epel did hide the small stuffed (your choice) away but when he can he would take it and look at it and smile as he couldn't help but feel a bit warm on his checks
