Oh, this is going to be incredibly self-indulgent and meta! Because it's definitely Daren and the reason is bc he has so goddamn many AUs.

In my mind, whenever I make a divergent timeline or AU, there are still "ripples" that come through in the narrative or setting ... Heulwen and Daren will always be pulled to one another (even if one is dead and they only hear about them vicariously) ... in FusionVerse, Hawke has a near magnetic attraction to Isabela because that's his canon romance (very "red string of fate"). I like the idea that there are certain patterns or crucial decision points that these characters will always be drawn to, bc that trauma/relationship/ethical choice is so integral to who they are as people. And it's also fun for me to think about which characters feel inexplicably comfortable with each other bc they're married/exes/roommates in another 'verse.

Most recently, I made Daren as my farmer for a new game of Stardew Valley and the second I met Lewis a little ping went off in my brain that said "Eamon" and when I met Rasmodius the same ping said "Irving" ... that's the most concrete example and he's also the one who would actually call it deja vu!

As much as I want to be a wholly joyous about the fact that Henry Kissinger is finally fucking dead, as he deserves... There's a lot of me that can't help being upset with. With the fact that he lived to 100 years old. He got better medical care, better housing, and a better, more stable life for those 100 years than billions on this planet ever going to see and he did it specifically through exploitation, state sanctioned murder, and lies. He lived to 100 years comfortably on a legacy of violence that rarely threatened his personal comfort. I want to be joyous that he's finally dead, because the world IS better with him dead, but the reality is he won a long time ago.
