just finished reading it and high oscar will forever by my favourite version of oscar bc he’s so real w just wanting all of logan. also i loved when logan correcting him when he said that it was weird bc all it does is play into the entire ‘oscar wants to worship logan like a god’ in this au.

same goes for when he says oscar is just obsessed with him like hello mr obvious, oscar has sucked your fingers multiple times now, clear sign of someone who’s obsessed w you

i’m glad you liked the fic!! high oscar (the way i write him) is a little freak and we love him for that. body worship and obsession are two of my favorite things… tbh i wasn’t originally sure how much i was gonna lean into the body worship thing in this fic when i initially started it then it kinda grew a mind of its own. and i threw in the whole master thing. which is. Hello!! I am a huge fan of your work "boyish" and it's inspired me to write something similar. I love the au and setting you have created and I was wondering if I could write in that world. I have this idea for a long hurt/no comfort, unrequited love, coming of age loscar fic where Oscar likes Logan but Logan doesn't like Oscar back. The first couple chapters would probably be similar to "boyish" though cause I love the 4 year old to 7 year old scenes you created. I definitely want to include the first playground kiss scene when they were six and include the braces/skateboarding parts too. After that though when they get into fourth grade and beyond I'd diverge from the story you've created and make it sad, unrequited and meloncholically gay. Would you be okay with be using your world and similar scenes? I would definitely credit you in the authors note and summary. If not, that's totally fine! Sorry for the long question- Keep up the great work!! <3

ah thank you i'm glad you're enjoying the fic!! <3 and honestly one of my favorite things about putting my work out into the world is the fact that it can inspire others, so if my work is inspiring you to write something, i say write it! obviously i don't own the entire concept of coming of age/childhood friends lol but i do appreciate you asking since it is so clearly inspired by boyish - i'm sure this goes without saying but as long as all the words you post are yours, i'm okay with it. so i don't mind if you write similar scenes to what i've posted as long as you're writing them yourself and not just copy/pasting my writing and passing it off as your own because you wrote some new scenes around it. and i would appreciate credit in the author's note and summary :) but the idea of being with someone like that for that many years and them not liking you back is tragic so i say go for it i will stay over here with my planned happy ending for the gay idiots and you can write your angst lmao

i was wondering one thing though, do the italics mean anything? i feel like the italics scenes are usually like retrospectives, so what oscar/logan thinks when remembering that particular thing? because i think those paragraphs are extremely sweet and they make me wanna cry in the best way possible

okay. i have kind of a complicated answer regarding the italics so i will give you the whole thing because i can -

they are typically more retrospective than the non-italic scenes, and for what it's worth, i always write all of the italic scenes after i finish writing everything else. when i finish the main part of a chapter, i usually think, "oh, i'm almost done, i just have to do the html formatting and the italic scenes," which i do at the same time for the sake of ease

i actually originally started doing them because -- and i know i've mentioned this a couple times here and there -- the idea for this fic is based on an idea i had years ago for a novel, essen tially about two boys who grew up as neighbors with a suspiciously close relationship that never officially became romantic but they were always kind-of-soulmates, and upon remembering that idea last summer i went that's perfect for loscar! and started writing it. boom: 150k words. ANYWAYS. in that original novel idea i, for one, wanted to have all the scenes out of order, and have it switch between the two characters' perspectives, so eventually you would get both points of view of every scene together; because boyish is written chronologically, i knew i couldn't do that even with it switching povs, so i added in the italics scenes as a way of showing how the character who wasn't the main pov of the previous scene was feeling in that moment, then they kind of evolved from there. i know i do some weird shit with time (there's an italic scene in a very early chapter that is from oscar's perspective when he's in college) because they are written almost entirely based on vibes. but so is the entire fic. writing based on vibes is good and fun!
