Michael doesn't let himself think on it and distracts himself with sizing up the bar that he's in now. He finds exits, he spots out potential weapons, he finds blind spots, and he thinks about what weaknesses of everyone in the bar he would exploit to get out with his mom as fast as possible.

A trick knee, motorcycle keys dangling. He knows the brand and knows that it's the one with the side car out front. He dismisses it as an option immediately knowing that while the side car would make for a more comfortable ride for himself it would slow them down.

He doesn't trust his mother not to cut him lose.

Finally joined the local library today, which I’ve been meaning to do forever! I’m not quite sure what I’m in the mood to read at the moment, so honestly choose a few near enough at random. Some have been on my TBR for a while, others I recognise from social media, and one I’d never heard of! Of course there was the compulsory classic choice, too. I’ve already finished Pizza Girl which was an interesting read - I’m going to have to get my own copy one day.
