Namibian Presidency (official account), 13 Jan 2024
this comes after germany announced that they, in defense of israel, intend to intervene as a third party in the ICJ trial
in the official government statement, they argue that the accusations of genocide against israel "has no basis whatsoever," and declares themselves to be experts on recognizing genocide by virtue of the fact that they're the ones that committed the holocaust (yes, seriously)
small problem for our self-declared genocide experts though — it wasn't until 2021, over a hundred years after germany killed and enslaved tens of thousands of herero and nama people (in what is now present-day namibia), that the german state was willing to officially recognize that they had committed a genocide; a genocide where, about 80% of the indigenous population of the herero and nama people were wiped out, thousands were enslaved in concentrations camps (with death rates between 45 and 75 percent), and many hundreds medically experimented on.
here's a good article from al jazeera which lays out the history of the genocide, and why germany's offer of "reparations" were met with disgust and anger in namibia
this part, in particular, is worth highlighting:
Today, German Namibians make up 2 percent of Namibia’s 2.5 million population but own about 70 percent of the country’s land, most of it used for agriculture. Multiple state-led efforts to legally restore ancestral land to Indigenous peoples by buying land from private farmers have only partially succeeded because it has proven too expensive for the state. Although the Namibian government sought to transfer 43 percent (15 million hectares) of its total arable land to landless communities by 2020, it has only succeeded in acquiring about three million hectares.

i heard that Biden was interrupted in his campaign speech like 10 times yesterday and i went to listen to it but i had to stop because the crowd would always drown out the protesters. A protester would yell "how many children have to die in gaz-" and then be drowned out by "4 more years!" You think the same crowd that would have the "stop racism and islamophobia etc" signs on their lawns would not be so politically opposed to people who used their freedom to dissent publicly against a president who claims to support his "diverse constituents unlike trump" while carpet bombing said diverse constituents' relatives. Pro-biden and pro-trump supporters have the same cultish mind sets as trump crowds fuck them. Youre not allowed to criticize the president that exists in their heads the ones they made fan edits for and thought would "save america from fascism." and if youre busy trying to write a response to my post about how these protesters are "allowed to do what they do but they shouldn't protest in such a vital stage of the election year" may i suggest that you understand that there is no "moral" reason not to protest a president that is sending billions of dollars to weapons to destroy Gaza. If you cant find that defensible or brave then might i suggest you read the first amendment and complain there. Because at that point its all respectability politics about a president that is responsible for genocide.

I think the fact that there are advertisements on cocomelon and advertisements on baby sleep soundtracks makes me feel unspeakable levels of violence.
The baby I was just rocking to sleep does not know what your product is and there is zero percent chance of them ever buying it or me remembering you fondly because you just woke the baby up who is now screaming in my ear if you had any thought that it's justified because just MAYBE I'll hear enough words to think about your product.
We are living in an increasingly breathless world that screams 'think of the children' as it loads yet more disruptive, loud adverts onto platforms and media for small children and quite honestly I think that 90% of advertisement should be illegal.

Hi!! Can you please please please write something with weird reader x akaashi? Have a lovely day ♡
Keiji smirks as two arms snake around his neck and gently pull him close, your lips pressing to his head, then ears, where you playfully bite the lobe gently.
“I want to gnaw on your bones,” you whisper into his ear.
“Yeah?” He asks, dog earring his page before closing the book and setting it to the side. He spins in his seat to face you. “You’re feeling that intense about your affection?”
“Of course.” You round the couch and make a move to plop on his lap; his arms instinctively wrap around you, and his lips press a kiss to your temple. “You’re just so pretty today, Keiji. Pretty everyday.”
“Thank you, baby,” he coos, his kissing moving down your cheek then jawline. You mewl and squeeze him, smushing his face against you. “Ow.”
“Sorry. Had to be done.”
“You had to squish me?”
“Yes,” you purr, pressing kisses to his cheeks as compensation for hurting him. Your hand comes up to grip his cheeks, pursing his lips out for you to kiss. “Mwah.”
“Mwah,” he returns.
“Mwah!”
“Mwah.”
“I’m gonna bite you.”
“Please don’t-“ his words are cut off as you bite the squish of his lips, not hard enough to make him wince but enough to playfully bite. “Thank you for being gentle with your feral behavior.”
“You’re welcome.” You plant one more kiss to his lips before hiding your face in his neck, letting the scent of his warm skin lull you to a state of relaxation. “Love you, Keiji.”
“I love you too, baby.”

Quote
In this essay, I address the anti-Constitutional discourse that appears in the media: that the Constitution should be displaced by the fears of people who appear on television. This form of opposition to the Constitution poses as expertise. It takes the form of advice to the Court: find some way to allow Trump to be on the ballot, because otherwise people will be upset. Because we are used to hearing endless conversations about politics on television, where everyone seems to be a political advisor, it can seem normal to reduce sections of the Constitution to talking points. But we must pause and consider. In fact, rejecting the legal order in favor of what seems to be politically safe at a given moment is just about the most dangerous move that can be made. It amounts to advocating that we shift from constitutional government to an insurrectionary regime. Indeed, it amounts to participating in that shift, while not taking responsibility for doing so. Let me try to spell this out. In advising the Court to keep Trump on the ballot, political commentators elevate their own fears about others' resentment above the Constitution. But the very reason we have a Constitution is to handle fear and resentment. To become a public champion of your own own fears and others' resentments is to support an insurrectionary regime. The purpose of the insurrection clause of the Constitution (the third section of the Fourteenth Amendment) is not to encourage insurrections! If we publicly say that that Supreme Court should disregard it because we fear insurrections, we are making insurrections more likely. We are telling Americans that to undermine constitutional rule they must only intimate that they might be violent. To advocate pitchfork rulings is to endorse regime change; to issue pitchfork rulings is to announce regime change.
The Pitchfork Ruling - by Timothy Snyder
I’ve pushed fair use here, because I *really* want you to go read the rest of this essay.

One thing that’s annoying about pit madness as a trope in fic is when people act like Jason killing people is the result of magic induced compulsion and not a fundamental philosophical difference between him and the other bats. Jason was already saying “well maybe she had a point” about a woman who killed a serial killer rapist when he was ROBIN
