"one more loop around the block before i take you home?" steves voice rasps out, husky from lack of use. neither of you have spoke much as he drives the two of you around hawkins. its been at least an hour now; music plays softly throughout the car and the windows are rolled down to let in the early june nights cool breeze.

you lean your head against the passenger seat and listen to freddie mercurys smooth voice as he plays over the speakers. hes become one of your favorite artists thanks to steve. "i dont want to go home just yet."

steve grins, he knew youd say this, and you smile at the knowledge that he knows you so well.

his fingers are wrapped lazily around the steering wheel as he takes a slow turn back towards downtown hawkins. you watch his movements, illuminated by the lamp posts that spill light onto the otherwise dark wooded street. its late, the first monday of june and the last day of your junior year.

it had been steves last day of high school, and all he had wanted to do was spend it with you in his car, driving in circles around your small town.

you close your eyes and allow the moment to seep into your bones. youre in steve harringtons car, there are crickets outside as he drives you around the town the two of you met and grew up in, and youre in the car with the boy that you love and you know that he loves you, too.

"you still with me, angel?"

you hum. "im still here, honey."

"your eyes are closed."

"im enjoying the moment," your eyes remain closed and yet you can feel the smile that steve flashes your way. you can hear it in his voice, you can feel the shift in the air.

again steve feels affection caress his face when he hears your words. youve only curled further into yourself and your eyes are still closed; steve knows you really are struggling to stay away now. its late, he knows he should get you home soon so you can sleep, yet steve cant bring himself to deny your request.

you giggle, happy youve won, but you try to argue some more anyways. no one else has ever been able to match your wit, so you revel in the quips you share with steve. "fine, its the first day of summer. dont be such a grandpa."

steve laughs, his voice is still husky and you can feel it drape over your tired body. "angel, weve got all summer to drive around this stupid town."

"promise?"

more crickets chirp and the car begins to drive once more, the stoplight now green. freddie mercury sings about the love of his life and how he doesnt want her to hurt him. your question of a promise joins alongside his pleads, and steve understands.

"i promise." he reaches for your hand and you feel his soft lips press against your palm. hes slow with the kiss, as if hes sealing his promise with it, and your body fizzes at the touch. "now lets get you home."

you bring the hand that hes holding to your face and nuzzle against it, too tired to respond with words. you simply nod your head and keep his hand there as a content sigh escapes you. steve has to bite his lip, scared he'll say the three words that terrify him.

ok SOOO its canon-compliant UP until 53/57, around there ! gilly takes Not Ferin Well a whole lot worse, especially the almost jay betrayal! hes basically the same as he is in canon (atleast to jay and chip) but hes so upset over jay lying to them this whole time even after what theyve been through together. lizzie and caspian roll up on the half a ship and yk yk, gill goes to help and lizzie makes the "hes on my ship, hes on my crew" and. gill just thinks shes serious and hes shocked and then kind of relieved? he didnt know how to confront chip and jay about what happened on block and now he doesnt have to! and so he just. says goodbye to jay and chip and lizzie is like oh shit youre fr? ok welcome aboard. LOL .

jay and chip take this as well as youd expect! theyre obviously very betrayed and upset, and chip is mad at both gill but also Lizzie cuz in his mind she has just taken his best friend away from her :( they go their separate ways after an argument between all of them (mainly gill, lizzie and chip) and jay keeps trying to convince chip to go back, chip keeps trying to sail them forward and is even more deadset on finding arlin now (they drop off ollie way sooner, as soon as they get to zero-- which they leave for after allport)

gill would start to feel guilty but also the training hes doing with caspian and lizzie starts to help him, and hes also coming to terms with being in the oversea and in his mind the grandberry ship is helping him a lot!

anyways a lot of time passes, both ships go on canon-compliant adventures (HOWEVER. grandberry pirates fight off against the navy a lot more than riptide crew does in canon, so gill is also dealing with that .)

since it starts out near ep 50ish, its near ep 100 where they are reunited (in the black sea!) niklaus tempts lizzie (and by proxy the rest of the crew) by saying if they go and help him with what he needs (which is uh. gillion. its the same thing he wants gill to do in canon) that he will bring ava back (he can Totally do that guys.) and then he gets A BIT SILLY and goes to riptide pirate crew (atp theyd have all the normal npcs minus queen cuz that was all gillion's doing) and is like. Do you Want your Fish Guy? Hes somewhere in the black sea. find him for me and ill make sure he comes back to you guys . :D (he can also Totally do that.)

they meet in the black sea, have the same battle they did when they first got there (both albatross and grandberry together) and gill is still the one who saves jay which leads to sillyness ^_^ gill and jay . talk it out and whatnot, chip (once he stops refusing to talk to gill) and gill argue about it and have. surprise. another ice arena moment. theyre so insane.

i dont exactly think hed say hes happier on the grandberry ship than with chip n jay i just . think hes definitely less worried about being the main protector? he knows caspian and lizzie can hold their own (not saying jay and chip cant its just .. you know..) and is living with a lot less stress and also has worked through undersea trauma like how he does in canon except with lizzie and caspian so . hes definitely living a better life, and if offered a place back on the riptide crew he wouldnt just abandon lizzie and caspian after all that especially cuz he still has lingering pain from jay betrayal ^_^

has lizzie/ava (past), swordfish QPR (i love them), liz/casp (QPR) (have you heard how caspian talks abt liz?), and uh........ yeah thats it.

also little idea idk where to fit in here . thinking abt gill missing ollie and chip (once theyve made up) being like "the three of us can go back to Zero and see him!" and gill is just like .. I'll never understand how people in the fandoms for these kinda stories try to literally block out the canon. The canon of the literal "dark ships", murder and torture novel. With the canon torture, murder, rape and assault. With the happily mentioned body horror and gore, and deaths. By the author who references and clearly writes out murder, torture, gore, rape, infanticide, cannibalism and assault in all her other works as well. How can you stick around in the fandom for a novels like that, and then place the metaphorical hands on the metaphorical ears and scream some metaphorical "lalalalalala I can't heart you!!!" for these canon aspects? Like, this is GENUINE curiosity, but just why? How do you get into these fandoms, and why do you stick around, when the canon is just so against your sensibilities? And the fandom itself often features said canon either in a canon adhering, or the more transformative way where canon obviously still has its influences. I'm not a stickler for canon in fandom, go nuts show nuts, take a bite. I don't even think you need to like all the aspects of a work to be a fan. But when dark themes are literally hard coded into the source material, and around every corner of the story, then being upset that said dark material is part of fandom and calling them "interpretations" just seems really ridiculous? Kinda? Since SVSSS is part of MXTX's works, I'll just go with her: I've seen MDZS people where the "interpretation" of WWX and LWJ being into rape play is criticised and constantly argued against as "just headcanon". Fam that isn't an interpretation, it's in your face forced canon. Not wanting to talk about it? Fine. Claiming it's interpretation and it's just headcanon? Yeah no.

Same with TGCF and some of the heavier arcs and actions. I don't even know where to start with some of that stuff... the stabbing and murder is kinda blatant. The cannibalism, torture, gore... The murder-torture-gore butterflies? (Actually most people like them, I just wanted to give an honourable mention to these Metal butterflies... really deserving of the German title SCHMETTERling.) Like... just following the previous side tangent and genuine question, might not sound like it but it's genuine. What do people expect from the in canon: murder, gore, torture, rape and assault stories? If you hate these things so much, how did you even slide into these fandoms and get so engaged to them? Wouldn't the sheer canon-ity of it turn you off from it? Even if you got into it from a friend. Can't you just do the polite "yeah hahaha." and move on? It just seems like such a strange choice to get into fandoms where basically things you hate are constantly bubbling away right under the surface of fandom, and regularly geyser up and out.

yeah I do block and move on every time I see one of those posts. right now i’m less concerned about what they’re saying and more worried about the effect it’ll have on fandom morale. although I’ll admit it does fucking bother me that there are very popular posts going around calling us genocide apologists and zionists. when someone’s actively spreading misinformation and getting thousands of people to believe their baseless accusations, I find it hard to just be all “fuck the haters” about it.

Hey hon! Good to hear from you again. Sorry this is so late! That's fair, fandom morale is something we should definitely be concerned about. It's always hard when there's so many different opinions on the matter. And yes-- I hear you on the misinformation part, it sucks. I try to point people like that in the right direction, and if it doesnt work, block/report but that can only go so far. The people doing that are probably not the kind of people who are going to change their mind based on new information anyway.

Sigh, I kind of wonder if some of these people are bots. Like, who's going into Kristians channel and asking about that? He has literally nothing to do with it, and it's really sad if it isn't a bot and someone is taking time out of their day to be a dick about it.

It's really disheartening, and I think you're doing a great job when you run into it, giving yourself some space and getting away. Which you shouldn't have to do-- but that's really great self care, and I admire that you have that kind of awareness to know when it's best for you to detach (I have trouble doing that a lot!).

I really would love to find a good strategy on how to deal with these trolls beside block them... something I wanna think about. I think right now the biggest thing we can do for each other is when the trolls are being asses, fall back on each other and get support.

Character thomas is kind of a creep

This guy literally whipped out a pair of binoculars to spy on a stranger eating alone at a mall food court.

And don't try to tell me those weren't real and were just an imaginary prop roman made, thomas says the stickers are too far away to see so the only way he could see them is binoculars.

Then he proceeds to hallucinate nico threatening to stab him to death and him getting ready to stab nico all because he won't text him back.Imagine being Nico, you have writers block so you decide to sit down at a mall food court and eat your fuckin mayo carrots by yourself, life is pretty mediocre but you are having a decent enough time.

Then four tables away from you theres this guy who's talking to himself like two people are there, not just talking but arguing, you wonder if he even knows other people can hear him right now.

Then he whips out binoculars to stare at you, you have no idea what to do, this is literally the last thing you needed to day.Then he gets up and awkwardly poses like hes gonna leave and doesnt, then he acts like somebody pushes him and then he tries to talk to a plant and a random guy hes never met before.

i... genuinely think i try to skip a fic every time it doesnt contain warnings at all. like you don’t have to have a setup like i do and like other writers do where we have a word count and a warnings thing + what the pairing is, that’s fine? but like. come on. at least put some warnings on your fic if you know there’s potentially something triggering there. not all triggers make sense and can be preemptively warned for, but the least you can do is warn for the bigger ones. that’s for both sfw works and for smut. like: a lot of writers do! a lot of writers do warn for shit, and i appreciate them a lot. but idk i guess some people want to just get straight into their writing and while i get it, i think that can be extremely harmful if you know your fic has something triggering in it.

i’ve seen people argue about trigger warnings before because of the whole “the real world won’t hold your hand” thing but that’s bullshit. p*r*site is one of my favorite movies and i watched it in a class for the first time and one of my friends went out of their way to tell me that there’s an uncomfortable sex scene in it bc they knew it could fuck me up depending on the day. people i know will go out of their way to give a heads up for things. i’ve suggested movies to people i don’t know well and said “oh, shit, btw, huge trigger warning for (x)” because it’s a triggering subject and i don’t want anyone to suffer as a result. websites exist to warn people about shit. and even offline, there’s those things vets put in their yards around fourth of july because the sound of fireworks can be triggering to them. anyone who says that the “real world won’t hold your hand” is a dick who just wants an excuse to not care for others imo.

And yeah, I feel that so much with sanders sides. I want to enjoy the characters as they are: nuanced characters with multiple facets, many flaws and many talents. They are all loveable and hateable in their own ways, and I don't really hate any of them, I just hate the fan narrative around some of them. I wish I saw less debate about which side was the best in terms of.......good deeds vs. bad deeds? I wish there wasn't as much fighting over whether or not you can enjoy a character. I wish we could coexist and have fun and not worry about whether or not we'll get hate for (*glances at writing on palm*) making fan content about the characters were in the fandom for.

And the discourse is out of hand for sure, and its just...annoying. And sad, kind of, that theres nothing in this fandom that doesnt have some sort of discourse surronding that (and sometimes thats good! sometimes the "discourse" is actually just people trying to say "hey this thing a lot of fans are doing is shitty and they should stop" and people have to argue the valid point.)

And yeah! This does tend to happen in bigger fandoms! But its so exhausting here, maybe because of the nature of the show or maybe because I was in the fandom before it was like this. But it's just tiring, and I hate that I have such negative feelings surronding the show because of it :/
