#had a scary time with my partner's health and then I didn't really talk about this part much but right after i had my own health issues :')#my issues weren't as bad. but still pretty concerning.#so it's been a lot of resting and taking it easy where I can while still staying financially afloat!#for anyone worrying #im thankfully okay! the past few weeks my body has been reaching a more healthy state :)#so i've been taking this time to take a semi break and work on some other projects #but i can feel my drive for drawing creeping back 😁😁 which im super excited for!!

i do also want to make a general PSA: the language of "failed men" and "failed women" as distinct gender categories referring to classes of people who have breached gender norms in a way that irrevocably disrupts their access to gender, particularly (but not exclusively) through transitioning or identifying with the "other" gender? that language has been in use in queer theory since at least the 90s.

it's so well-established that i cannot even begin to track down the initial coinage with a quick trip through google scholar. i'm finding publications in well-respected journals using the terminology dating back to the 90s just by scanning the first page of results. if you see someone claiming that transmisogynistic tumblr users made it up in 2023 to find a new way to sneakily call transfems men, they're just wrong, and in the worst case scenario, they're actively lying. if you have a fundamental problem with commonly-used basic transfeminist and queer theory terminology, take it up with the fucking university of chicago or something, idk, anything other than trying to convince 16-year-old trans people on tumblr dot edu that Big Transgender Blogging is intentionally lying to them about commonly accepted transfeminist theory.

#i got so concerned that i'd somehow made up an entire decade's worth of transfeminist theory education that i did some journal diving #because hey i'm mentally ill. making up an entire subsection of gender theory i got my transfeminist grounding in between 2008 and 2019?#it's not... *likely* but it's certainly not impossible with how my psychosis has manifested in the distant past.#but no i'm right this time. people on the internet are either just vastly undereducated on the things they claim to be experts on #or they're straight up lying. lol.

After graduation came a break before work started for Renee. It was also Jay and Miracle's wedding! Renee and Vincent travelled all the way to Chestnut Ridge for this special occasion and it was such a joy to see Jay again! Though Vincent felt a bit light-headed upon arriving. He was just tired from the long journey, right? But don't worry he felt a lot better after a nap on the bench.

Transcript:

Renee: Finally we are here! Now where are we meant to meet Jay and Miracle? Vincent: Uhh my head [takes a moment to respond] Didn't he say New Appaloosa? The town centre? Renee: Let me check google maps again. Aha! We are in New Appaloosa.

[Renee continues looking. She zooms out to Oasis Springs, to an area of endless desert…just out of curiosity] Renee: I guess they couldn't update the map as there's no evidence. So this place must be Strangervil-

[Vincent's mind goes blank for a second and suddenly Renee's voice seems so far away. His head sways to one side and his eyes struggle to stay open. He could see Renee but everything looks blurry] Renee: Vince! Are you ok? [she grabs hold of him and they walk towards a bench to sit down]

Vincent: Shit. I just blanked out for a sec. God, I'm so knackered from the flight. Renee: Here have some water. We'll rest for a bit longer, there's time [snuggles close to him] Vincent: [smiles and rests his eyes] What would I do without you Renee?

Jay: [clears throat] Ahem still recognise me? Renee: Jay!?! Ahh Jay, it really is you! Damn, it's been so long! Jay: You're the same as always! I missed you, Renee.

Renee: And Miracle [squeals] Woah you're so beautiful in person! Miracle: Thanks gorgeous! You're exactly how Jay had described! [sees Vincent resting] Oh is Vincent OK? Renee: Yeah he's just tired. Hey Vince look who's arrived.

Vincent: Oh it's Jay and Miracle! Sorry, my head's a bit [he blinks a few times] It's so good to finally meet you two, just call me Vince, any friend of Renee is a friend of mine! And congrats, we can't wait for the big day! Jay: We've been dreaming about it forever, right Mir? And I've heard so much about you Vince.

can’t believe we’re doing this again but hey guys if you don’t like what someone writes, and bonus points if you are not an author and you do not know how this kind of behaviour impacts writers, please shut up and refrain from posting and commenting on things that you deem to be wrong (which, to some, means that characters or certain situations are not written the way they see them to be.)

writers, like fanart creators and creators in fandom in general, put out on the internet free content for you to enjoy and engage with, and you throwing a hissy fit over things you don’t like and leaving hate comments and going on anon to complain and bitch about things just shows how entitled fandom really has become, recently.

i do not know in depth what happened with greenvlvetcouch and their fics because i do not follow fandom drama much, the very same way i did not follow the bizarrestars / mayzarbewithyou drama and i majorly found out about it from tiktok and mutuals, so i won’t be diving too much into named dramas but, as a fellow writer in fandom, i think that this fandom consumes content in an unhealthy way, and this is what makes many writers leave / take a step back from such spaces. after this maelstrom that happens, everyone’s wondering why said people leave fandom.

why?

because popular fandom creators or creators in this fandom that have written popular fics (i.e. bfb, cr, black mass, so forth so forth, i just named a few examples off the top of my head) are treated like celebrities and expected to write what appeals to the public, said public forgetting that the content they are consuming is put out for free access and you literally do nothing in order to consume it (which you do, for example, when talking about books and movies, but that is a whole another conversation), and unpopular fandom creators are brushed to the side and ignored. this behaviour affects everyone (both sides mentioned), and the leaving from the fandom is done by both sides.

i thought that after the zar situation, we’d take a moment to reflect on our actions and how our behaviour has an impact on our content creators. please, for the love of god, think about the consequences of your actions, even though they are behind a screen and not in the real world, and refrain from unasked for criticism and comments.

#this was worded a bit differently than my other posts of this sort #because it’s really tiring to see the same thing happen OVER and OVER again with so many talented people and artists #not the first time this happens and it’s concerning because we can’t learn from our past and previous actions #and i’m really hoping that we will get to the point where we can engage with and consume media in a healthy way #because this shit is not okay #fandom discourse #fandom discussion #fandom drama #marauders fandom

oh yeah I woke up with paralyized arm this morning and it was the neatest and freakiest thing. Arm was limp and I was unable to move it or any of my fingers, I didn’t have a tingling sensation, couldnt feel pain on that arm and it was essentially dead still weight laying next to me even though my brain was telling it to move. I could pick it up with my other arm and it would just heavy drop back to the bed

very slowly over like two minutes i was able to slightly move my fingers and then my wrist and then get the rest of my movement back. Apperently its either ‘partial sleep paralysis’ or a compressed nerve that does that while sleeping on it and its pretty much harmless lmao like the brain hasnt sent the signal to the nerves to wake up yet, or the signal gets inturrupted until it’s able to reconnect and thats neat af.

anyway now I have sleep paralysis ideas for comics
