Can I ask for romantic HCS of Grimmel (httyd)? Either with a Darling that's a rider or a wingmaiden.

I'll do Dragon Rider as I am more familiar with them ^^

So I just saw the third movie before doing this request and let me say, I absolutely hate this man. Sorry if that affects the story in any way I personally just can't forgive him for eradicating nearly every Night Fury.

Edit: Admittedly this became more general HCs than Dragon Rider! Darling so I'm sorry :(

Pairing: Romantic

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Stalking/Tracking, Sadism, Kidnapping, Murder of people and dragons, Blood, Possessive behavior, Forced relationship, Drugging, Toxic/Creepy behavior, Ownership.

Despite how I feel for this man, I can confidently saying he'd be one of the most terrifying yanderes in the HTTYD universe.

In canon people even say he's a predator that won't stop until he gets what he wants.

He's willing to be patient to make sure he gets his target.

He is capable of predicting others and is willing to get his hands dirty to obtain what he wants.

Plus, Grimmel has Deathgrippers under his control.

Alone there is no getting away.

Being the person of his desires would be problematic and most likely end in him having you.

Even as a dragon rider there isn't much you can do to fight back.

He is well equipped to just drug your dragon, maybe even you if he has to.

Grimmel would be a yandere who is patient, he has experience.

He takes his time to play his cards right.

He'll watch and detect your movements and keep in mind what type of dragon you have.

Grimmel is going to be someone who uses your dragon against you in order to have you.

Due to his patience you may not know when he'll strike.

You may know he's looking for you for whatever reason, but not know when he'll strike.

Grimmel will wait until he's learned everything from your behavior to your friends before having a plan.

It's hard to see this man as having genuine love.

He's most likely one to be possessive of his darling, planning to strip you of what you are before making you stay in your place.

Hell, maybe he'll even drug you like the dragons he uses.

Grimmel will play dirty to get his hands on you.

He'll use Deathgrippers to pick off your friends and family, grinning all the while.

He'll make you beg as he threatens the life of your dragon, just so he has some leverage over you.

Truthfully he doesn't care what happens to your overgrown lizard.

He could kill them, or he could spare them, but he'd most likely kill them.

Yet before then he'll use them as a bargaining chip to make you listen.

Meet his demands and he may just spare your pet.

Maybe.

Grimmel would definitely be the type to force his darling to accept him as their spouse.

He doesn't care how much blood is on his hands.

He may even blame the deaths of friends and dragons on you to break you.

Grimmel is definitely a yandere to break you, slowly introducing you to Deathgripper venom he gathered himself.

You can't refuse him on anything if your mind is swimming in the stuff.

It goes without saying he's going to isolate you after he kidnaps you.

Your only contact is him and the Deathgrippers.

You're terrified of the dragons so you'll most likely have to stick by him.

Grimmel doesn't mind a bit of fight in his darling.

He finds it cute, if it gets to be too much for him then a bit more venom floods your system.

If anything you become just as docile as the dragons he commands.

You won't have any time to cry over the death of your dragon by his hands.

You'll be too busy being on cloud nine.

Grimmel is a yandere who likes the hunt and likes control.

He's sadistic and willing to hunt you down as long as he can.

Soon, you'll get tired of the chase.

Like a tired prey animal... you'll fall victim to your hunter.

Then you'll have to deal with him and accept your fate.

Overall, Grimmel is one of the worst HTTYD yanderes you can have.

With you being a dragon rider it only adds to the challenge.

Now he gets to track you and your dragon down... he gets to enjoy the hunt.

Then, when he's ready to end it, he'll have you right in his arms to serve him just as he wants.

Something just hit me, have u ever noticed that that vikings outside the archipeligo in rtte have british accents(wingmaidens, defenders of the wing, dragon hunters) ryker is only character with scottish accent along with some hunters.

I have noticed that the accents are different between characters. I think it's because the riders said when they were leaving Berk and going to find new things they said that they were going to travel past Berk's archipelago. This could be a reason as to why. I do not know why Ryker is the only one with a different accent. I think the most likely possibility is that him and Viggo's parents were from two different places/

Personality: Quiet and tends to keep to himself and stay out of people's way and problems. Likes to tease his younger siblings especially Baldur about Zephyr.

Misc: He made a vow to never ride a dragon again after he gave up his position as first in line for the throne to devote all his time to the eruptodon effectively passing the throne to his younger sister Eula.

Misc: She enjoys reading the book of dragons and training with her mother. She also got her father's ability to create useful inventions. Her best friend is Ericka

Misc: She is the most competitive of all the children and likes to follow Hiccup around and annoy him until he is quite literally just chasing her away.

Relationship status: Flirty with Skjor

Occupation: Dragon rider

Personality: She is extremely girly and likes to focus on how she looks over fighting the other kids. She wants to be a healer like her mother (yes I headcanon Ruff as the healer after Gothi)

Misc: She and Attor like to look in the reflection of shields to preen. She tends to get distracted while fixing her hair or grooming her dragon and will miss important details in a conversation. She is still very useful in a battle and will take down enemies in style. She and Astrid have bonded over having Nadders and she has learned a few tricks from her.

Dragon: Razorwhip named Wingnut

Parents: Fishlegs and Heather

Weapon of Choice: Double ended axe

Personality: Skjor is the perfect mix of both his parents with his father’s love of learning and dragons and his mother's survival instincts. He loves adventure and journaling.

Misc: He met Wingnut when he got stuck on a random island and used the survival skills his mother taught him. First in line to be chief of Berserker Island.

Personality: Lagertha is a born warrior that is always ready to take on anyone and anything that will try to pick a fight with her. She likes to boss people around and get the island people to do tasks for her.

Personality: Noma is a free spirit who usually does whatever sounds fun. She is curious of the world around her and can often be found taking a walk around the island. She and her cousin Leahlout are attached at the hip and if they aren't doing their own thing they are always together.

Misc: She likes to help her father in the forge (I headcanon that Tuff begins to help Gobber in the forge now that Hiccup is to busy as chief) or helping her mother cook and bake in the great hall.

Weapon of Choice: Daggers

Personality: She is the most calm out of all her siblings but still enjoys causing a ruckus on the island especially for Gobber and Spitelout.

Misc: She likes to follow her dad around while he is training the Berkian guard (I headcanon that Snotlout is the captain of the Berkian guard) and likes to train with them herself.

Name: Bjorn

Dragon: Gronkle named Fishmeat

Age: 9

Parents: Fishlegs and Heather

Weapon of Choice: Bow and Arrow

Relationship status: Single

Occupation: Jr. Dragon rider

Personality: He is sweet and gentle much like his father but tends to make up his mind and become fixated on his decision and refuses to listen when people try to tell him the opposite.

Misc: Bjorn is a pacifist so he prefers to find nonviolent solutions to problems and stay out of fights for as long as possible until a dragon or someone else is in serious danger of being badly hurt.

Personality: Ingrid likes to act sweet and innocent especially around her parents (they know she’s not) but she is a feral child and will bite when she feels like it.

Hi there! Wonderful to chat! ^.^

You are always free to message me on anything fandommy, though friendly heads up: I'm unreliable responding. I read everything and appreciate everything and want to respond to everything, but alas, I'm busy and flaky.

My one big headcanon regarding Dragon Classes is that they are not phylogenetically reliable. I prefer looking at Dragon Classes through a cultural framework. Vikings, fictional or no, are not Twenty-First Century scientists! The Vikings created their own categories based upon their world framework. While they have good knowledge, they do not come from a modern biological taxonomic mindset.

This explains why:

Dragons in the same classes are disparate. The Monstrous Nightmare and the Fireworms of the Stoker Class don't share life / reproduction cycles, social behaviors, or even the number of legs.

Classes contain "four elements" type characteristics. We have a fire class (Stoker Class), water class (Tidal Class), and rock class (Boulder Class - though with their unique rock-eating abilities, are going to have more phylogenetic relation). Biologic relations of animals are not dependent on whether they adapted to water.

Other classes are based upon a main feature or impression. Tracker Class - oh hey, these animals track well! Sharp class - look, spiky! This is like me lumping a hedgehog and echidna together. There's understandable reason to... doesn't mean I'm portraying genetic relation.

Mystery Class is based on knowing little about the dragons. This is not a shared biological trait. This is a miscellaneous "To Be Learned More About" category. Unsurprisingly, Mystery Class dragons have a wide range of appearances and abilities.

This headcanon also delves into why dragons change classes. Vikings categorize dragons based upon their understanding. But not every human being will agree with one another. Not every society will agree with one another. And not every society will process their understanding by the same flowchart.

This means I think there is observable variation if you sail from one Viking island to the next on how they classify dragons. One naturalist will argue 'til the end of time that Nadders are Sharp Class. Another nerd on the same island will insist they're Tracker. Everyone else in town Does Not Give A Crap.

Different societies, depending on their level of cultural contact with one another, will have slightly different paradigms or classifications. Viking cities at opposite ends of an archipelago will probably have the least similar agreement. Maybe one region has a Sky Class. Another region puts the Triple Stryke in the Sharp Class.

Some dragons are reliably classified as one thing. For a hypothetical example: the Gronckle is Boulder Class for every culture that has Boulder Class, and just about everyone has a Boulder Class. Other dragons, there's more variation in how the peoples classify them. Yet other dragons get put in two classes simultaneously by some Viking groups (other Viking groups say you can't have dragons in two categories at once).

Isolated societies (Wingmaidens?) sometimes have an entirely different way of thinking about and categorizing dragons than the Tracker, Stoker, Tidal, etc. system.

Dragon Classes are not as regimented, firm, 'hard factual', and essential as we are treating them through our framework of categorization. The Vikings might look at Dragon Classes more loosely, fluidly, inessentially, characteristically / descriptively instead of as innate physical identity, etc.

I’ve seen a handful of alternate universes where Hiccup gets taken that night with Valka, but what if Hiccup gets taken instead of Valka? like I have a lot of ideas and I need to get them out of my brain

1) For the first movie, instead concepts of feeling like an outcast to your own people and parental issues, it’s going to focus a lot more on the affects of grief/how to move on without pushing it down and marital issues (stoick and valka love each other dearly but you can’t tell me they wouldn’t have issues; dw they work through them because of the first thing).

2) Hiccup, instead of being taken by Cloudjumper, gets taken by a night fury. This sets up Valka’s motive for shooting down a night fury, as she narratively takes Hiccup’s place. Overall she still believes in the idea of peace with dragons (or at least claims such), but she’s dead set on taking down the local night fury because she believes it’s the same one that took her son. When she realizes that it’s Toothless, a very obviously juvenile dragon, she just. can’t take it any more. all that anger she held just fizzles out. “I did this. You aren’t the dragon that took my son.”

3) Everyone else in the original dragon riders group has now gained a crazy dragon lady aunt ! Astrid + Valka’s bond means a lot to me, especially because in that one comic there’s a flashback where Stoick mentions that they’ve always wanted a daughter. iirc we don’t really see Astrid’s parents much? if at all? arguably you could say this about the rest of them but Astrid is obviously a more prominent character in the first movie so I think Astrid forming a strong bond with another female warrior, especially an adult figure to look up to and rely on, would be nice (I know there’s technically Heather later down the line but she’s not really a permanent fixture in Astrid’s life in regards to canon).

4) HICCUP IN DRAGON ARMOR LIKE VALKA’S. OHHHH THAT WOULD BE SO COOL. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE LEVELS OF COOLNESS THAT WOULD BE

5) also since Hiccup wasn’t in Berk this means we get Astrid as a chieftess by the end of HTTYD 2. also there’s a budding romance between Hiccup and Astrid by the end of the second movie but nothing comes of it (yet) because THW isn’t real and I haven’t thought up my own third movie yet

6) HICCUP’S CHARACTER DESIGN IS. LIVING IN MY HEAD. sorry I just think it would be. really cool ! also he would behave so much like a dragon because he was literally raised by dragons. he learns to speak common tongue from observing other humans/mostly traders and eventually his allies (such as the Wingmaidens) but he doesn’t really spend much time with humans overall so he’s much more accustomed to communicating with dragons so he himself is very dragon-like.

7) Unfortunately the night fury that takes Hiccup is not seen again after going out one night :( This is where Cloudjumper comes in and takes care of Hiccup as his own, like the night fury once did. Hiccup was young when the night fury disappeared, so he doesn’t remember much of her, but is amazed when he first meets Toothless. the two get along like a house on fire :D

8) also Valka and Toothless’s relationship >>> she realizes that she’s lost her way and she is perpetuating the cycle of violence and hatred onto a new generation and is refusing to continue it. Toothless is pretty much the same as he is in the original movie, but I guess you could say his actions are seen much more through a childlike lens? since Valka is significantly older than him. I personally believe that Toothless never grew up with his parents because while he obviously has amazing prowess as a dragon, there seems to be abilities that he never had access to previously that I feel he would have if he had grown up with another night fury in his life. so he kind of imprints a little on Valka’s motherly nature. but these two are literally besties :( inseparable family. eventually Stoick joins in too and they’re just. it’s like that one meme: “ah yes: me, my wife, and her two ton dragon.” I love them.

9) also you know that little intro Hiccup makes for Stoick at the beginning of HTTYD 1? it’s altered a little bit because this is through Valka’s narration. not badly, but a little funnier. like so: “They say that when he was a baby he popped a dragon's head clean off of its shoulders. Do I believe it? Absolutely not.”

10) I’m just saying shit and not really getting out any of the main points but i just. have a lot of Thoughts ! ask me about them!!

HTTYD X ATLA AU

Yes, I will draw them. Someday… I promise

I'm starting from the idea that the 4 nations aren't completely divided, and that benders of the 4 elements live together, as in the case of Berk, although the most common are firebenders. It's become a big mix and that's why it's harder to know who will be the next Avatar

Hiccup: The Avatar. However, when he was born, apparently, He didn't bend any of the elements, considered a nonbender, until find out he's the Avatar.

Astrid: Waterbender. Yes, again using the blue outfit as justification, but I also think water suits her. She and Katara would be besties.

Fishlegs: Earthbender. What I like about earthbending is that it's a completely opposite element to his personality, he's a kind and adorable guy, while earthbending is hard and offensive. But it completely suits him too, because he's protective and strong, and he likes gardening. Bonecrusher likes it for sure

Snotlout: Firebender. Do I really need to explain about this?

Tuffnut and Ruffnut: Airbenders. They're both airheads, so. But seriously, I think the air really suits them, how much they would mess around. Just look at Tenzin's children, or even Aang himself.

Heather: Nonbender. For me, she would be like Asami (and Astrid could be Korra, I'm just saying). Strong and powerful without needing to bend. She would be good with weapons but would also use technology.

Dagur: Firebender. Honestly, it's the most offensive element and it can create lightning, do you want more explanations? But also, I like the idea of him being a Nonbender like his sister. Like, being an heir, they expected him to be a powerful bender, but he ended up disappointing his family and people. So he went through such heavy training that it ruined his psychology.

Mala: She and the entire Defenders of the Wings tribe are Nonbenders. A tribe that lives isolated and without any benders, having a certain repudiation for them, until they meet the Avatar and his gang.

Atali: She and the Wingmaidens are also Nonbenders, but they would be more like the Kyoshi Warriors. Or they could also be like Gliders, so they could "fly".

Now some that I'm just going to throw here and won't comment on

Stoick, Spitelout and Gustav: Firebenders

Gobber: Non or Earthbender (especially Metalbender)

Gothi: Waterbender

Viggo: Non or Waterbender (especially Bloodbender. Thanks @reallyprofoundkryptonite for the idea)

Ryker: Earth or Firebender

Krogan: Fire or Nonbender

There're a lot of characters missing, but I can't think of anyone else right now. The main ones are here. Feel free to give your opinions and headcanons.

Bye-bye cure for the Scourge of Odin because the Buffalord can't be away from it's herbs but BOOM it's away from it's herbs.

Defenders of the Wing Island? Completely fucked.

If Toothless called upon the Bewilderbeasts then Berserker Island is probably fucked as well, considering Berserker Bewilderbeast had to get out SOMEHOW.

What the fuck are we gonna do with the Cavern Crashers, Death Songs, Slitherwings, Changewings, Grim Gnashers, Speed Stingers etc? Are there other Red Deaths??

And the Wingmaidens? What are the Razorwhips gonna do now??

What's the Flightmare gonna do without it's algae??

Albino Night Terrors would be fine within THW but how tf are they supposed to get there?? Same with Whispering Deaths. At least Sandbusters can burrow I think but like... all the way under the sea?? That's impossible.

What are the aquatic dragons supposed to do? Thunderdrums I can get but Sea Shockers? Scauldrons? Shellfires? Submarippers?

Please for the love of Thor tell me you didn't bring the Screaming Death to THW.

first of all, the main signposts of npd are typically shame, defensive rage, and low self esteem that is masked by a high opinion of yourself. look at snotlout, and you'll see all of them.

first, npd typically is caused by trauma. and we've seen spitelout be abusive On Screen; key points are in the defenders of berk ("if your sword can't be sharpened anymore, it's time to get a new sword" - him telling snotlout that hookfang, his beloved dragon, should just be thrown away bc hookfang's sick), snotlout near working himself up into a panic attack during the "ceremonial axe" episode in race to the edge only for spitelout to laugh and make it seem like snotlout's overreacting when he sticks up for himself, and countless other interactions where spitelout makes him feel inferior, unsafe, or otherwise upset. like, this fucker DEFINITELY gave snotlout trauma.

then, we have shame. tied into the first part, but; how many times have we seen snotlout desperately try to be good enough? countless times. every mission he wants to do well, he wants to be important, he wants validation of being told he did well, but he fucks up and gets told off instead. we see this happen over and over again, both with the riders and with his dad, where he tries his best and it's not good enough. that episode where spitelout implies that his friends are making him weak and they're just waiting to turn on him, it sends him into a horrible spiral for days. and we don't see him ever show shame, no, but like,, you really think that would fly around spitelout? no way.

then we have defensive rage. i'm not sure we see snotlout show it that much, but there's Definitely been times where it shows up. if i'm not misremembering, there's been a time where he gets mad at hiccup and then flies off angrily. but tbf, i don't really have this symptom either (i overcorrected too hard in the other direction), so whatever.

we also see him deflecting, a lot. i'd bet that all of his annoyingness is a learned "people will be mad at me no matter what i do, so might as well do something for them to be mad about". how many times have we seen him be disrespectful on purpose, make fun of the others, only for them to get mad at him? hell, he finds the wingmaidens because he provoked astrid's ire. it's all a mask, it's all him trying to project "i don't care what you think, i do what i want".

and now, low self esteem. we see him repeatedly struggle with his own importance to others. remember when hookfang was protecting...what was her name, girl hookfang? and snotlout thought he'd been replaced just like that? he was certain that he was less important than a random dragon hookfang just met. we see him push himself harder than anyone else (except maybe astrid) because he thinks he'll never be as good as them, and this is the closest he can get.

and lastly, the high opinion of himself. how many times have we seen him exaggerate his own importance? "that's right, SNOTLOUT got us out of the snow" (glacier island ep, rtte), his constant talking about how everyone must love him. he acts like he's adored because he can't bear to live in the world he does, where he thinks everyone's just waiting for an excuse to get rid of him.

in conclusion snotlout definitely has npd and also deserves better
