Louis might not be chucking bricks at No. 10, but people are responding like he’s never displayed leftist politics or challenged a government position on anything. He supported demands to the government about a fix for UK touring musician post Brexit and Marcus Rashford’s petition about food insecurity. He fought the police about their social media use in 2018 and criticised the UK government position/support for factory workers in the pandemic. The things he speaks about are usually UK issues and meaningful to him or his family and friends. He’s also most likely to speak when he isn’t working. Also that specific anarchy has a punk anti authoritarian message as well. That statement fits Louis pretty well. He has been a poster boy for not sitting down and shutting up and doing what you’re told since 2012. If he was he probably wouldn’t have a solo career and he definitely wouldn’t have sold out the O2.

I like this point about him speaking out more when he's not working, I think that's a really great and useful observation and makes so much sense. I feel like it makes sense in two ways right now: like first, I don't blame him for not wanting to do things that would jeopardize how beautifully everything is going for him right now after the number of setbacks and troubles he's had to get here, it must feel so precarious. And knowing for a fact that any political statement you make will spawn a dozen tabloid stories and all kinds of outrage is bad enough, but add to that the fact that it's simply impossible to predict which thing will turn into a huge viral mess- it's a lot. And second, he's not just working, he's been on TOUR! I've been around musicians my whole life and one constant is that tour is time outside of normal time and life, it's a bubble, it's only paying attention to right where you are and what's in front of you and the people there with you and everything else is put off and neglected, is for when you get home (and have massive post tour letdown depression and fatigue). I'm not saying he can disconnect with the outside world entirely... but putting everything on pause? I would be surprised if it were any other way, and I would be surprised if he's been following the news and counter news and so forth closely enough to feel comfortable speaking out publicly about anything when it will be so scrutinized and picked apart. I would add to your list supporting the rail strike (something we wouldn't even know about if it hadn't been tossed in as an aside by an interviewer in the print only version of a piece, he didn't post about it or anything) and attending and posting about the BLM protests (not to mention telling people to pirate his stuff come on how punk is that), and I agree he is much more likely to speak out about UK issues which makes sense: most people are most moved by issues that are close to their lives in some way, and it's his brand. And I agree that even though as an anarchist I love talking about what anarchism as a political ideology actually is, the symbol does also have a common meaning in the world as just basically standing for anti-authoritarianism, and Louis as a guy who rejects authority and the status quo is nothing new at all and one of the reasons we love him, and in the last few years I feel like he's been going further in that direction both aesthetically and politically, and we love to see it! Plus he has pretty much always sported this slightly punky aesthetic to some degree, even when he was being dressed up like a little ken doll he snuck in skater looks and indie band tees and so forth (something something it's part of why his fanbase was so primed to love his new sound and it wasn't the risk he feared it was because people were always drawn to him who were already into that aesthetic even when his sound wasn't that yet) it's not like it's just a brand new out of nowhere side of him or something.

i cant speak for everyone obviously but ive always thought he was a bad choice for shadow ever since the idea started going around 2 years ago. because from what ive heard personally he doesnt really sound like shadow + i hate it when big movie stars are given voice acting roles in movie adaptations just to have a big name attached to the project even if theyre not good for the role. and this definitely feels like that. back in the day people were only saying he should be shadow NOT because his voice actually fits but because hes an edgy action guy or whatever and movie sonic is canonically a fan of him/his movies and they could make jokes out of that. and i feel like thats Still what a lot of peoples reasoning is which annoys me because shadow isnt just an edgy action guy and i dont think his voice should be chosen based on a joke of all things especially if the voice isnt fitting enough to justify it

Is Cat a Kind of Inntinnsic?

The answer, the one I'm sure the author would give, would be no. The story in no way treats Cat's Gift as an Inntinnsic ability. Violet and particularly Xaden don't act as if what she does is at all similar to what an Inntinnsic does.

But I'd argue it has to be in order for it to work.

Because everything is first person from Violet's PoV or a rare chapter from Xaden, I sort of doubt the author really sat down and thought of how certain characters powers would work. If she did, i think she'd have realized Cat's Gift would function similarly to Xaden's second signet.

Cat can manipulate emotions. We're told she can't force someone to feel something they don't, but instead amplify what they do feel. On the surface that doesn't seem anything like an Inntinnsic ability. Where things become more complicated is how she uses that power.

If Cat can't implant an emotion, then she has to know what emotions the person is feeling. Sure, she could just be throwing her ability at people and seeing what sticks, or it could work in broad strokes; emotions overlap, so maybe any negative emotion can be made increasingly worse, while a good one amplified into pure elation.

I'd argue though that her power doesn't seem that broad, instead being pretty focused. Violet was easy to read so it wouldn't even have been hard to read that she hated Cat, and Cat threw out insults during their fight to make sure Violet is more susceptible to her Gift.

But the Venin she goes after at the end of the book wasn't as easy a read. She doesn't know this Venin. She's bragging and boastful, but whose to say that's greed and not pride? Or even done as a way to taunt Violet and make her more afraid?

Yet Cat manipulates the Venin without much difficulty, seeming to know exactly what emotions she's feeling without any trouble.

There's also the issue where people are generally feeling more then one emotion at a time. Violet is always in love with Xaden, but she can also be annoyed with him. Emotions aren't something that are felt one at a time--so how does Cat pick which one to manipulate without knowing instinctively what they're feeling?

I think it's very likely that Cat can either sense what people are feeling, or even see it (I'm thinking sort of like auras) and from there use her power to exaggerate which ever one she wants. It just makes the most sense.

But if that is the case, similar to how Xaden can read people's impulses and intentions, Cat could read their emotions. Now, that's not exactly mind reading, but Xaden's power isn't strictly reading minds either, yet he count's as an inntinnsic. To me what seems to make someone Inntinnsic is that they have no outward tell or rule for using their powers--they can just do it.

Dain isn't an inntinnsic because he requires touch to activate his memory seeing. As long as he does not touch you, you are safe from his ability.

Meanwhile, what makes inntinnsics such a security risk, is that they can activate their signet at anytime without anyone's knowledge. Xaden seems to be using his second signet constantly to read everyone, and no one has ever picked up on it at all.

In a way Cat's Gift seems to be similar in that she can use it without a hard and fast rule. She can just do it. If it works by letting her sense people's emotions, she could be constantly reading people Xaden does, but instead for intent, it's for their emotional state.

Does that not make her power Inntinnsic? Or at least Inntinnsic adjacent?

what she means: homelander begins the series as someone with a callous disregard for human life, but there's a clear evolution to this across three seasons. he starts off murdering people when they interfere with vought affairs, when it pleases his loved ones (mostly just madelyn), or when he uses needlessly excessive force with violent criminals. we can tell he takes pleasure in causing pain and is clearly sadistic, but he doesn't let himself inflict this treatment upon someone who is (in his eyes) undeserving. with stormfront in season 2, he finds someone who encourages him to indulge further, as seen when he brutally murders a petty thief. finally in season 3, after he's at an all-time-low, he forces a completely innocent girl to jump to her death. this is the first wholly unjustifiable act (in his view) that he's committed. this is further reinforced a few eps later by him stepping on termite at herogasm for literally no reason. what we see here is a pattern of escalating cruelty and maliciousness. this would all make perfect sense.... if not for the fact that within the narrative, homelander raped becca 8 years before the show even started. this is entirely out of line with the rest of his arc. moreover it makes the show's promises of "homelander will finally commit unspeakable sins" with each subsequent season redundant, considering he's already done that.

Okay. The most I can give you here is that growing up as a mesmer he did talk about being different from his peers, not being accepted and being pushed away as an other out of fear. And if we're stretching the definitions, that could be similar enough to having an oddity/wrongness that I included in my definition of a sexyman.

But even so, that's less of a character trait and more of an imposed social status given to him. In an accepting environment, he loses that. And I think a much more sexyman sexyman has that oddity as an intrinsic trait, not as something inflicted dependent on the environment.

So like...I suppose you could make an argument for sexyman past Grady, but I just. I don't think he was ever a sexyman! That's my interpretation though. That's my opinion, and you can disagree. I just am not seeing any convincing arguments to sway me

It makes sense to write Jonathan Crane thesis as looking for the correlation between fear and the learning process. Wich part of learning is related to fear and how it develops in unique ways on different people, there is a colective to this indovidual phenomena?

In my fandom wolrd, I dare say that Jonathan is interested in the concep of the "colective inconscient" of Jung in relation to fear. The theory talks about the existence of symbols and images that are present as a collective in the human mind as a result of culture and experience and that this images manifest in our tradicions and believes, that's why so many images and ideas are present in different cultures that had none or few contact with each other, for instance the story about a great fload that almost destroyed mankind. Adapting it to fear, Crane wanted to answer if there is fears that appear to manifest in cultures and people as an historical heritage without relationship with trauma, bascially colective fears.

That is only a small part of his theory of course. In my mind he wants to categorize fear based on the way it develops and the different categories have different theoric bases. Unfortunally his Compreheensive Study on Fear will never be reviewed in scietific comunities 'cause his research methods are not valid and he violeted every single rule in the ethics code.

I do also believe that he has some renomed pappers on the learning process because I think he was studying it to later relationated it to fear and how it developes. He specially references Bandura and Vygotsky. Besides some early valid studies on fear with neuropsycology as the basis.
