my feelings on sonic boom (the show to be specific, im not really familiar with the games. #fakefanalert) are so complicated these days like there are things i like about sonic boom. i wouldnt revisit it every time i cant find anything else to watch if i hated it . but sometimes the characterizations in boom really bother me . like i dont think their personalities being a bit different is an inherently bad thing i understand its an alternate universe where the characters have been living completely different lives, and its also a comedy show so things are often gonna be exaggerated for the joke. but i hate how some of these characterizations that do not work well for the mainline characters impact peoples view of those versions of the characters anyway and sometimes even bleed into the games themselves

basically every time i see someone call knuckles a himbo or amy a girlboss mom friend i look at sonic boom and go THIS IS YOUR FAULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drinking the hard kind of copium juice mixed with pure wish fullfilment hoping we'll see all the Dark Road kids in Quadratum and everyone will be able to travel between it and the original KH-verse in the end, with extra fun of Xehanort and Eraqus having the memories of their lived out lifes but as if they're remembered through the lens of someone else. It probably doesn't make much sense but I don't care because I want to see them happy damnit.

And I think it'd be very funny. Like the awkward tension of teenager Xehanort hanging around all these people his asshole adult self has traumatised while he technically ranks among the people traumatised. Imagine living out another life knowing how terrible you can end up. Ventus, Terra, and Aqua coping with a teenage version of their master hanging around who'd really like to have a better relationship with them this time. Riku and Baldr being weird darkness-wielding buddies. New kiddos for the rest of the cast to become friends with (I think Vor and Kairi could be great pals, fearing change together : ]).

i've been thinking about dr characters in quadratum for months. years even. they would be perfecttttt for the "i died but now i'm here" situation quadratum has going on. i'm not personally that invested in seeing eraqus again but nomura's art of yx in quadratum has me on that hopium plus I feel like there are a couple really strong other candidates from the khdr cast. vidar in particular I think is a character who might actually have a chance. baldr is like, obviously I have to hope that baldr will be there (but i doubt he actually will be). I would kill to see 3d renders of the dr characters in ANY situation though honestly. i will take a flashback, i will take a lore recap, i will take anything

despite being DEVESTATED initially, when thierry finally realized rosemary was human & he'd killed- not a disposable AI, but a flesh & blood REAL human being, his regret wanes as the years go by, to the point that he only regrets it - to a petty degree, because rosemary still dwells on it 10 years after the fact & won't forgive him for it fully.

thankfully, it destroys him from the inside she won't, & he can't EVER undo that, but he doesn't- nor will he ever understand why after all this time, after basically repeating the same masochistic pattern of abusing the reset functionality of the game world to kill her thousands of times over, at her permission, at that - for YEARS, why she can't let the first hands-on instance go.

rosemary enables & lets thierry get away with a LOT of things, ranging from the little things to the, at times - scummy attitude he lives with, but that will always loom over his head whether he comes to dismiss it as a casualty or not.

& rosemary just being the slightest bit upset with him already makes him a nervous wreck as it is, too obsessively attached, but to then learn she can never let that defining instance go...

it's as though hell itself takes him over.

hearing techno curse in videos and hearing chris martin curse in songs have the same effect on me. ppl say "who cares that they cursed, tons of people do, it's nothing special" yeah but they usually dont so hearing it makes it seem more special in the context of who it comes from!! the Power they suddenly have when they curse is really funny jhdjdh. like yeah anyone could have said that but he said it, he cursed with very specific intent. for chris it's about sending a message, techno it's all for the bit 😌

thought he could protect his brother from tragedy forever, still ended up dying even younger than expected, despite his best efforts to take care of NHS it just made it that much harder / sadder that NHS went full Machiavellian after his murder

and also quite frankly. so sad to see a guy who Never wavered in his principles, for better or for worse, decide to go against his better judgement in JGYs case, and in the end that’s what killed him 😭 he was So Rigid but deciding to be flexible in JGYs case to try to fix him / give him a chance is the first domino in his murder

like. damn. there’s excuses / explanations for why jgy did the things that he did in the Sunshot campaign but it is also completely reasonable for NMJ to not trust him / not want to have any kind of relationship with him afterwards. it’s really tragic that compromising on his principles to give JGY more chances actually made things way worse than they would have if they’d never spoken ever again
