Its even worse if Billy knows that Steve is a cop. Can smell that polished, preppy, try-hard just blend in from a fucking mile off. He's a goddamn bloodhound for it. Its part of why his boss likes him so. Points him at anyone who wants to get close and says sniff, boy. Find the rat.
And Steve. Steve's so goddamn obvious its a wonder he wasn't shot on sight. Even the generic twerps who man the doors could've seen his too-styled hair and his poorly concealed handpiece. Could've. Should've.
Didn't.
And, what the hell. This one's pretty. Snarky. Kinda the most fun Billy's had in months and he's caught between gagging for Steve to slip up and hoping he doesn't. Wanting to see where it goes. How long Steve will carry it until Billy has to put it down.
He knows the moment Steve's given the order to try and use Billy as a step-ladder. The moment Steve's told to take Billy's sordid flirting and run hell to leather with it. The awkward dismissals of his advances become slightly less awkward reciprocations, cheesy one-liners spat right out of a how to make him like you gossip rag article. Lingering hands that dip an inch too low to be respectful. Its almost as funny as his piss-poor I belong here act.
Almost.
If it wasn't for the fact that Billy's all but fucking drooling for it. Toted along by an invisible leash. No longer sniffing for a rat but for that musky, earthy, rich scent in the crease of Harrington's thigh. The slope of his neck. The dip of his sternum. If he wasn't so ready to sit, stay, speak for reward of Harrington's tongue up his ass in a way that makes Billy think that, actually, there might damn well be a God.
They're on a timer that looms over both of them, an eclipse blocking out any light for a future where one of them won't be staring down the open end of the other's gun, bleeding out and done for. Because Billy won't go down easy and Steve's probably got the damn copper handbook tattooed on his ass, and walking away isn't an option for either of them. Its a one or none kinda deal.
But shit. The way Steve looks at him? The open-mouthed divine reckoning of his adoration when Billy's sheathed on him and bouncing like he's paid by the lift-sink of it? Its worth it. Worth any and every possible bloody, raw, heartbreaking outcome. Every brutal way this can end.
Because fuck. Steve kinda looks at him like its real, sometimes. Like if Billy asked him to stay he'd take off the badge, bury it in the dirt with the other bodies, the other past lifetimes. Looks at him like Billy would be worth it. And that? That's nothing Billy's ever had before.

Multiverse News: Week 1
Greetings, fellow travelers! It’s your favorite hot mess speaking! 🖖
In the new year, I wanted to make an effort to share more about my writing progress and give you guys better (and hopefully, weekly) updates on some of my WIPs that I’ve been working on during that time.
So, for the curious among you, it’s a great opportunity to get some insight, and for me, it’s awesome because I get to share some of my excitement about current projects with you guys. And you know the rules here, questions are not only allowed but welcomed. Let me know if you like this idea and if we should continue it. In the future, I could also add fic recs of what I read that week if that would be something you’re interested in. So, without further ado, let’s get started! 🖤

Series Updates:
DBM: Finished three chapters this week. Spoilers: First part takes place in the reader’s past with chosen moments throughout the first three seasons. The chapters are called: Lemons, Salt, Tequila. Cas and Jack also finally make appearances 😇
TBH: Finished up and ready to go up until 30. I still hate them. They keep sacrificing themselves and dying or do something insanely stupid. They won’t cooperate with me, but I’ve worked out quite a few kinks! 💪
PH: Finished until 18. Oooooooh, do I love writing this thing! Spoilers: Intense jealousy and anger management problems in parts 17 and 18. God, they’re idiots! Also, have I mentioned the smut in 13 and 14? 🔥 No? Well, there you go…
Planned Miniseries:
Cast Away: So excited for this one! It’s a hate to love, with one part already being piningly in love, and everything happens on a deserted island because of a stupid witch spell (haha cast away… Get it now? 😂). Also, there might be some Peter Pan elements in this. Be surprised (and if you send me an ask about it, I might send you snippets of the first part) 😉
Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You, Baby: This is actually a part two to a Jensen x Reader one-shot I did in June. I said back then that I want more of them, and I still do. This has been sitting in my drafts for months again. Edited so many times I can’t even count and still not finished. But I had one final idea on how to fix what I don’t like, so we’ll see. I’m quite happy with the direction it’s taking 🙃
Upcoming One-Shots:
Mercilessly: Demon!Dean x Soulmate!Reader fic. Not gonna spoil too much about it because it’s posting soon for a challenge 😈

More than God loves them
Ugh the callback of this line to EP1 with Franklin 💔💚💔💚💔 Like in both cases there's a genuine fondness for both men but with Francis it's like a more concrete, non judgemental and more impactful imo kind of love (leaving the cans to the mutineers), instead Franklin is a words of affirmation (and more judgemental) type. James' relationship with Francis is more equal than the one he had with Franklin allowing for more love?
Going back to England, lady Jane's appeal thanks to Charles Dickens 🤢 woman can tell a speech that appeals to middle and upper class English sensitivities ngl, an orator like her husband.
THAT ZOOM IN TO HER FACE AND MOUTH TO CUT TO THE JAW OF ONE OF THE MEN THE ABSOLUTE USELESSNESS OF IT ALL
Tommy Hartnell was the one taking the most after Francis I think, in terms of leadership, like during the mutiny and the tuunbaq attack, standing his ground and protecting the men in the boat, offering support after the mess.
Those are some big ass boats and it must had been an absolute pain in the ass to haul them 💀
In love with the shot of Fitzjames exposing his reopened wound to the men, the composition that of a baroque painting
Dundy and Little proposal and the double meaning of allowing them "to rest" 💀
The way the camera follows and frames Hickey, first as he's with Billy in the tent. Despite the cynicism and the (supposed) pragmatism, being tender with him. Making up his mind, he goes out of the tent, goes to his to grab his knife, stabbing him in the back no less. So much to dissect about the rat man.
Speaking of dissecting, his threat to Goodsir so that he cuts Billy up. How Goodsir is trying to come to terms with it and the way the tent blows hard in the back of his head. Then the change of frame and the threats to Hodgson off screen, proving again that this show is a workplace comedy.
People have been commenting about the contrasts between Billy's and James' deaths, but also the parallels, how were they related to Francis and Hickey each.
James' death oh my god 😭 the intimacy, the resignation, the complete love and trust between these 2 men. The fact that even us the audience aren't allowed into their last moments together, and the fact that Francis refused to offer a speech or service to the men.
This episode has no restraints, going punch after punch (even in the more quiet moments). Immediately after James is buried, Blanky breaking the news to Francis, the tragedy, but also the camaraderie, the banter between them as Blanky implies his plan with the forks.
BLANKY BEING THE ONE TO FIND THE PASSAGE. We're reminded (just like the men) after like 6 episodes what this was all about. And he also gets to go like the goat that he is 🔥
The fact that they were able to find a place as desolate as the real KWI. The sterility of it all, this party of white men are a plague to the land, causing others to suffer for no reason.
The fact that the tuunbaq is going first after the mutineers, dude knows where the most rotten apples are (looking at you Des Voux)
The moment of the cannibalism that is both heightened and understated, Hickey wasn't impressed.
Hodge I'm so sorry but I'll always zone out during your Catholic anecdote, like Goodsir probably did.
Tozer sharing what happened with Collins. Everybody cried so much during this episode and with good reason.
Bridgens death :( the corpse lying on the side. The breaking of the main pairs in this episode by the death of one of them, leaving only the "strongest" alive, but Bridgens refused to it.
Really like the callbacks to history here and there, and in this episode is way more obvious, I think; there's some bending of facts ofc. Kept thinking about Woodman's book about Inuit testimony, about the splitting of all the parties and their fates, and that in real life they did find game (still wasn't enough for whatever it is that went down and which we might never know), but points are being made so some distortion is allowed.

Know-it-alls, mansplaining, failure to follow orders when orders are clearly correct, failure to disobey orders when orders are clearly wrong, jello salads, white gloves, and clothes that can only be dry-cleaned.

That chapter of Risk….OMG!!! I have so many feelings! Billy’s letter saying to wear his necklace so he can find his way home to Steve 😍. The shower scene!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!! 🫠 The thoughtful gifts ❤️. I am reduced to speaking in emojis and gifs. Lol! They deserve so much happiness and love. I’m not gonna lie, I’m worried about what Neil will do when he sees all the marks on Billy. I feel like they will not go well. 🫣 But I’m gonna ignore that for now because this was the sweetest sexiest softest chapter EVER!!!! 🔥 Also Max waking up and choosing violence is just so hilarious to me. 😂 and top notch use or the story title at the end! I see what you did there! 🧐👍🏽

Max waking up and choosing violence is just-- like I love that child. I thought she was such a good add to the group in Season 2 and she was so beautifully vibrant in season 3 and then i just hurt and hurt for her in season 4 so now it's my whole goal to keep her happy. Fix her relationship with Billy, give her lots of love and attention from the other kids... all of it.
Neil is.... a whole incident in this fic.
Originally I wasn't going to make him too much of an issue but I was re-reading the fic and realized how intense the emotions were regarding Neil and THEN I started thinking about how a constant theme in this fic is how Steve is always ready to go to bat (literally, go to bat) for his kids and his friends and even his ex and how we haven't seen him be that protective and growly over Billy? And that seemed like a shame.
So. Now instead of a nice calm mature moment where Billy gets to kiss his mate in front of his homophobic father at graduation and know that he's finally free of Neil's house and can go on and be happy and there isn't shit Neil can do about it?
Now we're going to have a whole INCIDENT where Omega!Steve gets to show Neil and Billy exactly how protective he is of his MATE and frankly, it's so good for us. So nice for us. Exactly what we (and they) deserve.

Epic year for my music .A number of releases this year that set the format for “college radio”. You got REM, violent femmes, U2, new order, X, Billy idol, tears for fears, eurythmics, talking heads
A banner year for Pop music. Thriller got released late 1982, so that was a mainstay,then in 83’ a 24 y/o New Yorker named Madonna released her self titled debut album, Lionel Richie with a record that had five top 10 hits, Billy Joel- his top record-innocent man, U2, journey
Rock ‘n’ roll was more 60s rockin than 80s synth rock. x, quiet riot, ZZ Top, David Bowie, the police, Genesis, U2, Rolling Stones, motley Crew, and Def Leppard starting the hair metal bands.
And got some hard ass punk rock with acts like Bad Brains & Suicidal Tendencies…ALL I WANTED IS A PEPSI!!!!
Still fresh 40 years later

- [ ] Cure - Japanese Whispers. An early-ish release w a couple solid goth/synth tracks
- [ ] Liquid liquid - tremendous! Funk, punk, hip hop. Contains the “Cavern” the original white lines
- [ ] Replacements -hootennanny. Lots of noise between a few good tracks. Sounds like they just recorded everything they did and put it out in this record
- [ ] Keith Jarrett - standards Vol 1. Trio s dejenette and Peacok. Got bias here. I’m a big Keith Jarrett fan & this is one have the best trios of all time and jazz, in my opinion.

💧Rain - What's the most emotional scene you've ever written?
What emotion? I've written some really intense, angry confrontations (Warren confronting his father in A Love Once New, Dale and Kestrel's argument in Taking Flight), I've written some really hopeless, desperate sad scenes (Madison's capture in Smoke and Mirrors, post-battle in Bolts and Blasters, Robin's injury in Symphony in Silver), and I've written some emotional, joyful reunions (Ophelia and Peter in Catch and Release, Quinn and Billy in Desert Song)
I could keep going, but I think you get the point lol. I dial things up to eleven.
❄️ Snow - Who is your coldest / most stoic character and how do they express themselves (if at all)?
Hm... I'd say Madison. It's a close contest with Ophelia, but Ophelia does open herself up a bit more (it's just usually masked by sarcasm and teasing). Madison tends to shut down and keep everything inside, but she will express herself once there's a level of trust built. This is actually a pretty major arc in Smoke and Mirrors, her learning to confide in Alex and vice versa.
☀️ Sun - What's your favorite part of your WIP?
Since I have so many WIPs, I think I'll just answer this in a general way. I really like when I reach the middle part of the fic, ramping up towards the climax. The character relationships are budding but not quite comfortable, the action is high, often it's peak creativity for me. Across the board, once you get a few chapters in and it starts to gain momentum, that's some of my best writing.
🌪 Tornado - Who is your most impulsive character and why?
Rae by a long shot. It's a core part of her character, and literally how her entire arc starts (she jumps into a fight trying to save someone, and it leads to her meeting Warren - though he's not the one she saves then). She'll jump into a fight even if she knows she won't win, just for the chance at protecting someone else - and she won't regret it a bit.
🔥 Wildfire - Who is your most emotional character and why?
Hm... Katherine. At the very least, she's the one who hides her emotions the least. Though technically speaking, I suppose Jasper wins, given they're literally an empath.

💦 Flood - How many WIPs do you have?
8 current chaptered fics, an additional oneshot to complete a trilogy, and *checks document* 4 novel ideas, 5 oneshot ideas, and 27 fully-fledged longfic ideas that I haven't been able to write yet
🌙 Eclipse - What's the most common / reoccurring theme of your WIP(s)?
Hm... there are several (music, queer themes, feminism, etc.), but I'm gonna go with "characters that believe they're meant to be alone/unloved, only for that to be proven so, so wrong".
Genuinely, I think I have an example of this in almost everything I've written. The severity of it varies by story, but it's a VERY prevalent theme.

Both episodes were sooo freaking good! I need to rewatch them this weekend but like Simone and Bernie have my heart ♥ Daisy is truly a selfish bitch and I'm glad Simone is the one to tell her!
Nico/Nicky is the worse!! They were like speak to her husband but he is the one enabling her!!! That scene between Daisy and Billy 🔥 and Camilla confirms she hooked up with Eddie!!! 😳😳
