区役所通りには、新藤凉子さんという女性詩人がやっていた「トト」というお店があってね。講談社系の水上勉とか中村真一郎という人たちが来ていた。そこにバーテンと称して奥のほうで本ばかり読んでいる男がいてね。それがデビュー前の半村良だな。ママが店を空けるときは彼に任せて、後で営業日誌を書かせるんだけど、一から十までデタラメばかりだったという話だね（笑）。

梅雨明けのカラッとした風の吹き抜ける中、妻と一緒に散歩した。稲の花が咲いていたり、ハナムグリが百日紅で交尾していたり、向日葵が咲いていたり、畦道に尻尾の生えたままの蛙がいたり、季節感感じる散歩でした。
